Ok... so au where Neil is an arsonist and Andrew is a firefighter. They see each other all the time- Andrew doing his job and Neil watching his handiwork blaze.

And Andrew starts suspecting this pretty menace but never says anything because he doesn't hurt anyone. Just burns abandoned buildings that honestly needed torn down anyhow.

Until... one day Neil gets trapped in the fire he started somehow and Andrew rescues him...

babe, most fanfic writers write because

they love the characters

they are not normal about the characters

they are passionate about the characters

they are depressed and writing about the characters is their getaway

they are horny

canon compliance is only a choice. but there’s no rule in fanfics. and most fanfic writers are sure as shit not trying to be respectful to the multi billion companies that made the characters, and if you actually believe they are, then maybe you’re just new to fandoms.

Thinking about the mafia-front AU and just have this image of Andrew and Jean deciding to put aside their differences to go and rescue Neil when his mission inevitably goes wrong. Just imagined the two of them kicking in a door together looking extremely cool and Neil's like, "Oh, nice, you two are friends now?" and they're like, "Neil, shut up, you're bleeding," and Neil's like, "I'm fine, when did this happen? Tell me everything!" and then he passes out.

ahhh god this would be so sexy of them! BUT they cannot leave kevin dearest on his own, he would have the grandest of hissy fits and also a panic attack. TWT

You may!!! I wrote this little scene a long time ago and I still think it's cutie so here's 1.3k of Jace and his non-Leander friends being stupid. Hehe. >:3 At this point Leander knows he's a prince and is living in the castle, but he has no idea Jace is his mate!

My wolf was black.

Average-sized, I supposed. I was between Mico and Noah's sizes, anyway. Noah just a touch taller. But my paws were bigger. Mico wasn't small by any means, but smaller than both of us. I constantly wondered what Lee would look like once he changed. Once he finally pulled on his fur coat and met me on four feet.

He would be smaller than me, I knew that for certain. I had a few inches and several pounds on him. Leander wasn't scrawny, but he was chronically underfed. I suspected he would hit some sort of a growth spurt once his wolf came. But I hoped he wouldn't get much taller. Maybe an inch. Nothing more. I liked being bigger than him, being able to protect him. Standing next to him and being able to look down at him from the corner of my eye.

"What are you thinking about?" Mico asked as they kicked off their shoes. Even with the ring Isa's mate had made them, they still had a hard time keeping their clothes from shredding when they shifted. So they always got undressed first. As always, Noah and I looked away. Not because we were prudes or unused to nudity, but because Mico preferred us not to see them naked.

After a second I realized neither of us had answered. "Thinking about Leander."

Noah made an amused sound in the back of his throat. "Well that's a shock."

"What specifically about him?" Mico asked, pulling their shirt over their head.

I let out a sigh. "Nothing specific. Just... him."

"Lover boy," Mico said, inspiring Noah to coo at me. I slapped his chest with the back of my hand.

"He's perfect and he's mine. I'm allowed to moon over him."

"Speaking of moon," Mico said behind me. Then suddenly they were a wolf. They chuffed and snapped playfully at my leg, then Noah's. A breath later and they were talking in my head.

let's go already.

"Right behind you," Noah said as he dove off the porch, shifting on his way down. Drama queen. I rolled my eyes and walked down the steps like a dignified person, changing on the bottom step.

I watched a smattering of deer by the pond. Six of them. A little pack of prey ripe for reaping. The buck was huge with an immaculate rack of antlers. My friends had almost talked me into it when I spotted a fawn among them.

no leander wouldn't like it. not one bit. blood freaks him out.

I slammed Noah to the ground and the deer at the pond scattered as I growled at him. he's not weird, he's perfect and he's mine.

Once the three of us got tired, we ran back for the castle. And only as I was about to shift back did I realize I had a bunny rabbit in my fucking mouth. I dropped the carcass and gave it a look before changing.

Noah chuffed beside me and as he shifted back it turned into a laugh. "You've been carrying that literally for like... the entire time we were running."

I changed and wiped my mouth, grimacing when my hand came back bloody. My entire face probably looked like a crime scene. I pulled off my shirt and used it to clean up a little. "Really?"

"Really." Noah said. "After the deer pond brawl, you caught a rabbit for your mate. Oh, Jace you're so romantic."

"The deer would've been more impressive," Mico drawled. Neither of us looked over at them as they grabbed their clothes. "We offered to help and everything."

"Guys, I told you. Leander... He wouldn't like this." I sighed, kicking the rabbit corpse all the way to the treeline. Maybe something out there would get a free, cold, meal out of it. "And he doesn't even know we're mates. He doesn't even know what mates are yet."

"What do you mean he doesn't know? He doesn't know anything?"

"No. Not really." I huffed and sat down on the steps. My friends took seats next to me, each of them with wide eyes. They shared a glance then looked at me.

"You're telling us that your mate has no idea you're his mate."

"Correct."

"You haven't told him."

"Ding ding."

"WHY?"

"Because he hasn't got his wolf yet. He wouldn't understand my feelings. Not yet. Not when he's being all un-wolfy. Besides, I'm not going to tell him we're mates. I want him to realize it on his own like he's supposed to."

"You're stupid." Mico says lovingly. "You should tell him so he can get used to the idea."

"And plenty of wolves have humans for mates."

"He's not human." I reminded them.

"He is for now. And until we figure out how to change him, he's gonna stay that way."

"I know. I know. But I don't want to rush anything."

"RUSH? You've known him for over half our lives! You knew he was yours from a photograph. Romance authors wish they could come up with this shit." Noah said with a goofy grin.

"I know," I repeated.

"Oh." Mico said with a tilt of their head. "You're afraid he'll reject you."

I opened my mouth to deny that, but the words wouldn't come. They were right.

"Ah, dude." Noah said, putting a hand on my thigh. "No way. You guys are literally made for each other. I can tell just looking at you. It's annoying! Like, how come you got to meet your mate when were still in fucking diapers? Not fair to the rest of us."

"For the record, I was potty-trained when I met him." I reminded them.

"Barely."

"I was eight when we met!"

Mico snorted. "Yeah, well. I happen to remember a certain birthday party where you—"

"Hey, hey, hey! We don't talk about that." I interrupted. Noah laughed and tilted his head back.

"Yes we do. All the time."

"What do we talk about?" asks a voice from behind us. The three of us jolt in unison and turn to find Isa, seventh of seven and our Alpha on the porch.

"Nothing!" I exclaimed. Isa's eyebrows jumped at my tone.

"It sounded like something." The older wolf sat down a couple steps above us and looked at me expectantly.

"Once, during Mico's—" Noah cut off suddenly when I kicked my leg out and into his chest, sending him tumbling down into the yard. He landed on his back and glared up at me. "Oh, I'm gonna get you."

"Just try it." I told him with a grin. So Noah launched himself up at me and I threw myself at him and we rolled all the way into the grass, playing more than fighting. It was a tangle of limbs and I took an elbow to the eye, ouch, and I nearly had him pinned down when Mico announced,

"Jace shit himself at my birthday party when we were kids."

Isa laughed at that, much louder than I'd ever heard him laugh before. Like he thought it was hilarious and couldn't not bust a gut about it. And that's when Noah got the upper hand. He threw me off him and pinned my arms by my head, snapping his teeth in my face.

I could've reversed it again but there was no point, I'd already lost. My mentor was cackling at my childhood misery. I laid there with my arms over my burning face while my friends explained in full detail the time I gorged myself with chocolate cake and ended up needing a change of clothes.

hmm! i don't know if i'm qualified to answer since i only just read the series a few months ago (unlike people who've been in the fandom a zillion years)

BUT i think it depends! i feel like in some situations she would tell blue, in others she might give her a lil hint and see what she does with it :)

Can you recommend a few book series that you’ve really enjoyed lately? Like aftg or the raven cycle or green creek?

First up I'm gonna rec the Adam Binder series, which I read a couple months ago (it's not complete but there's three books out so far). It begins with White Trash Warlock and I actually enjoyed it a lot. It has a lot of magic and insanity, angst and trauma... And the main character... Well I relate to him since I am also unfortunately trailer trash. :') But yeah. The first book hooked me right away! (Spoiler, sort of: The only thing I don't like is the love interest, because he's a cop. But he's changed his mind about being one.)

Next I must tell you about The Tarot Sequence! Book 1 is called The Last Sun and there are three main books out so far, plus several novellas. I actually got recced this series by a very awesome anon! I owe them my life! It's so good. The magic system throws a lot at you at once, but it's not hard to get used to. I want to say MUCH about these books but I don't wanna spoil anything for you in case you decide to read them. I will say though that I love all the relationships in the books! Rune (our lovely MC) and Brand are bonded Companions, which means they're besties who can, will, and do kill for each other. Plus there's a host of other characters you'll meet later on and fall in love with!

All of Us Villains was rather good! I read it last summer. There's a magical battle royale sort of thing between a bunch of teenagers, they're all so stupid. There's lots of pain and angst, but also shit that made me cackle?

These ones are standalone books, but I enjoyed them a lot!

Don't Let The Forest In- magic and monsters in a private school with lots of twists and turns and angst and pain. I had a really good time and had to sit and stare for a minute after I finished it! It's a horror novel though and contains some Fucked Up body horror shit.

Icarus- This one had immaculate vibes to me. I really don't know what else to say. It's art thief x boy who's under house arrest, plus art thief learns he has friends who love him? Just vibes. I had a really good time with it.

Cutting Your Teeth- I read this one like two years ago so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but I remember thinking the MC was very Neil Josten coded! But with Vampires and shit. I can't remember how the story ends up??? Which is weird. But like my memory is shit.

Anyway! That's... about it. And the thing these all have in common (mostly) is the fantasy elements. (Except Icarus, it's just plain ol modern world.) But I think if you like a lot of the series I like, you'll probably find at least one of these worth your while!

Also I'm gonna assume you're already read the Simon Snow series, but if not please do. I love them so.
