Elements and Space Objects
The elements are an elevation of gender with and added layer of properties. The Primary, or Active Qualities, are Hot and Cold, which are identical to Masculine and Feminine traits. The Secondary, or Passive Qualities, are Dry and Wet, which give form and create the Elements.
Primary / Active Qualities: Hot v. Cold - temperature, demenor, energy.
The Hot quality is identical to Masculine energy.
Extroverted, expressive, self-expressive, fast-moving, light, bright, expansive, hot, visible, direct, conscious, vocal, dynamic, manipulative, extensional, and outward.
The Cold quality is identical to Feminine energy.
Introverted, subdued, self-repressive, slow-moving, weighty, dark, contracting, cold, invisible, indirect, unconscious, quiet, stagnant, sustaining, absorbent, and internal.
Secondary / Passive Qualities: Dry v. Wet - malleability, structure, texture.
The Dry passive quality is solid, resistant, strong, immovable, rigid, and breakable. There is a maintenance of form.
The Wet passive quality is fluid, receptive, soft, yielding, smoothing, and moldable. There is cohesion and adaptability.
Each element has a combination of the two different qualities giving it a unique demenor or Temperament. When I started studying the Elements and Temperaments have shown themselves to be interchangeable, so I usually address them that way. As you look at the traits of each element, you will also see the corresponding planets and signs associated with them. Take your time to think on their inherent nature in relation to these corresponding traits.
Fire / Choleric Temperament - Hot and Dry, Fire is self-expressive, bright, strong, and resistant.
Determined, driven, strength, dominating, assertive, willful, energized, quick, impulsive, impatient, temperamental, passionate, optimistic, inspired, self-motivated, high-achieving, result-oriented, prideful, courageous, destructive, creative, straightforward, demonstrative, concerned with personal identity, independent, impersonal, freedom.
Mars, the Sun, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius share these traits.
Air / Sanguine Temperament - Hot and Wet, Air is dynamic, light, fluid, and receptive.
Multifaceted, communicative, sociable, talkative, warm, enthusiastic, restless, youthful, charming, laidback, unfocused, scattered, anxieties, detached, opportunistic, intellectual, cerebral, visual, verbal, quick(witted), objective, studious, curious, abstract, rational, perceptive, perspective, relational.
Jupiter, Venus, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius share these traits.
Water / Phlegmatic Temperament - Cold and Wet, Water is slow-moving, dark, yielding, and moldable.
Flexible, uniting, impressionable, reflective, observant, contemplative, intuitive, sensitive, empathetic, emotional, compassionate, refreshing, relaxed, easygoing, gentle, calm, steadfast, persistent, controlled, self-contained, yielding, deep, shy, private, secretive, deceptive, compulsive due to unconscious feeling.
The Moon, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces share these traits.
Earth / Melancholic Temperament - Cold and Dry, Earth is weighty, absorbent, strong, and rigid.
Grounded, secure, stagnant, regimented, enduring, patient, unyielding, ambitious, imposing, disciplined, dependable, practical, pragmatic, hard-working, materialistic, resourceful, detail-oriented, perfectionistic, tidy, sensory, analytical, premeditative, thoughtful, conventional, matter-of-fact, pessimistic, quiet, reserved, self-concerned.
Saturn, Mercury, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn share these traits.

Could you rank the most intelligent to least intelligent performance breeds you’ve ever dealt with?
As well as the most to least affectionate Show breeds?
If you consider the Feral a breed in itself, it is, hands down, the most intelligent.
They are the product of generations of birds living without human care, who have had to dodge predators and scrounge what food they can, surviving on their wits alone and passing their knowledge to each successive generation.
If you do not consider Ferals to be a breed, then the Racing Homer is the most intelligent performer.
They have safe nests and thrive in human care, if and only if they succeed at dodging predators and finding their way home over trips up to 500 miles away, which can take days, through any kind of weather.
Those that do not succeed are lucky to survive. Most fall prey to hawks, vehicles, and exhaustion.
Those very lucky few who do live long enough to be found are the vast majority of rescues in most places, typically outnumbering even ferals and utility kings, especially in the fall.
Birmingham Rollers
and Portuguese Tumblers
Only have to dodge predators in short flights above their lofts.
Both breeds are trained to fly in a team called a Kit, required to be extremely biddable by their trainer, who acts in part as their predator spotter and calls them in either at the end of a performance, or when a predator is sighted.
Biddability requires intelligence, but not nearly as much as the independent decision making capability by which Homers navigate and ferals survive.
These are the four performers I have the most hands on experience with.
I can't really report on birds I have not worked with many of.
As to the exhibition breeds:
This bird does not belong to me.
He is Cotta's great Grandsire.
But I have to list the Show Line Danzig Highflier as the single most affectionate exhibition breed for the rock solid, determinedly sweet temperament that has passed down to all of his descendants, regardless of what they were mixed with for four straight generations.
When socialized with humans, they are the loviest things you can lay hands on shy of an imprint.
They are even one of the very rare relatively low dust breeds, though I am not sure exactly how that inherits.
Frillbacks
This breed is an entire loaf of bread.
They are extremely mellow, and not because they are stupid or flight is difficult or painful.
Most of them that I have socialized have sought out my lap as the most comfortable place to loaf, and will loaf with a person they like for hours.
This exceptionally sweet temperament passes reliably to their offspring.
Once again, this is not my bird.
But I have to rank the American Show Racer very high because of the reliability with which the breed's unflappably mellow temperament has passed to its decedents in my experience thus far.
This is an unshakable brick of a bird, that, when socialized, is very tractable and docile.
Lucerne
Extremely docile, but ranked lower because even birds that out right disliked me were very tolerant and relaxed in the hand.
There is a huge difference between docile/tolerant and affectionate, and affectionate is what I want.
Show Type Racing Homer
Very mellow baseline temperament, but not necessarily inclined to be a friendly bird.
Classic Old Frill
I love this breed dearly.
But I have to place them here because their temperament is very hit or miss.
Depending on how they are socialized, you will either have a doting cuddle bug, or an extremely skittish bird that wants nothing to do with you.
I have had an even mix of both result when I bred them for show, and birds that largely ignored me also came to be, but those were rarer than either cuddle bugs or skittish.
Those that do end up being cuddle bugs? The single most affectionate seekers of human company I have ever had the pleasure of handling!
That's all six I will be using for temperament.
Giant Homer
An absolute bowling ball of a bird, so when I call them the biggest cuddle bug, I mean that literally.
This was, initially, a Utility breed, meaning they were bred for meat.
As with most meat animals, like Flemish and Continental Giant bunnies, that means that these birds are two things; extremely heavy and extremely docile.
But because of the shift from meat bird to show bird by people who liked the big round aesthetic, part of that docility is their natural temperament, but as with boiler chickens, a lot of it is from simply being too heavy to comfortably move.
These are prone to a lot of uncomfortable health issues, from hyper rapid growth of calluses on the soles of their feet to feather deformities. (Both Bertha and Agnes suffered from abscessed flights that grew in upside down and backwards and couldn't break skin that was not supposed to have closed over the follicle.)
They do not like to move because frankly, their feet and wings tend to hurt, so they will gladly seek out a soft, warm lap to sit on.
Voorburg Shield Croppers
Are the only breed I know of with a temperament requirement written into their breed standard.
They are required to blow and dance to woo the judges, but this is not so much friendly as horny behavior, making this particular breed more inclined to see humans as potential mates regardless of imprinting.
When blended with other breeds, it leads to very pushy, aggressively forward cocks that absolutely will not take no for an answer and will fight you to the gates of hell about it.
This behavior is not particularly unpleasant in pure Voorburgs because their inflated globe is not a physical trait, but a genetically coded behavior. (Fascinatingly, passed on by a dominant gene).
Basically, they are compelled to keep their globe inflated most of the time, and that compulsion is stronger than the typical compulsion of a pigeon cock to bite to initiate the driving phase of courtship.
They can't hold their beaks open to bite without deflating their globe, and even if they could, the globe inflates far wider than the beak is long.
So, where an aggressively amorous cock of any other breed will charge in a bite, Voorburgs charge in and boop into you with their soft inflated globe.
They are harmless and adorable as they are, but that genetic drive to determinedly court humans is why I will not be incorporating any more into the project.
Valencian Figurita
These have mostly been very sweet in my experience, though that is largely dependent on bloodline.
I have lucked out with most of them so far, and their offspring tend to inherit a very demure, sweet temper.
I have stopped working with them because they are so tiny that they often need at least one of their young to be fostered under other similar sized birds like Ringneck Doves.
Old German Owl
I have met some absolutely wonderful OGO.
But the vast majority have been fairly skittish, and so have their offspring with other breeds.
Temperament is mostly genetic in pigeons. Flightiness, for example, is a single dominant gene.
It's hell to breed out because it isn't visible and can be overcome by high intelligence.
But exhibition breeds tend to be pretty low intelligence, simply because there is so much less need of it when you exist to look pretty in a show pen.
If you can, try to meet the breeder in person and see how their birds react to them.
Astrid's dearly loved her, and she was extremely sweet tempered. A far cry from OGO I had purchased at shows.
Her children were very sweet tempered too.
So don't count them out, just research the breeder.
Komorner Tumbler
This is no longer a flying breed, and as such it has lost quite a lot of its intelligence.
That said, it has lost a lot of flightiness too!
These have a good probability of being fairly sweet and happy to seek out human attention.
If you don't mind the bird not being very bright, a Komorner might be an ok fit for some one looking for a bird that's easy to socialize.
Nun
Nuns, on the other hand, are almost notorious for having lost almost all survival instinct.
Oh, they're sweet as they can be, but described as being too stupid to move out from underfoot or recognize their own eggs as something other than a weirdly hard poop.
They are often fostered under other breeds because they will poop an egg on the floor, if it's lucky, and just walk away.
Chinese Owl
I have heard that these are docile, but that has been absolutely none of my experience with them!
Flightiness is a dominant gene, and these nervous messes have made skittish terrors of nearly everything they have mixed with in my care.
Same goes for the striking Old Dutch Capuchin.
I have decided to remove these from the list of breeds I intend to blend simply because their unique embellishment is not enough to balance out their high strung skittishness.
Lahore
These lovely anime penguin cosplayers are not by any means skittish!
While you will get sweet individuals on occasion, typically cocks, the hens will fight God!
They are a lot less inclined to be combative with other pigeons as they are to be with you, but if you get one that likes you, she will fight god over the right to be in contact with you!
While I have had a Mindian, American, and Garden fantail, I do not have enough hands on experience with these breeds to evaluate them fairly for this question.
The Garden fantail is the only breed I plan to incorporate primarily for its structural embellishments, rather than temperament or intelligence.

new to typology? 🫂
don't worry, we've all been there!
why learn? well, in short, typology can provide you with a better understanding of yourself and others, unravelling our strengths and weaknesses.
where to start
although many people who are new to typology start off with an interest in mbti (mostly due to the popularity of 16personalities and personality database), i actually recommend starting with temperaments, big 5 and/or enneagram instead.
temperaments (the four temperaments) is an archaic system, one that has its roots in medicine. it is simple and easy to understand, with there being four main types (sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic) that you can choose from, or blends between any two of them (for example, i am a blend between melancholic and choleric, therefore my temperament is melancholic-choleric). there are no contradictions between temperaments and any other system, and you can be either dominant in one or a blend of two just like yours truly!
big 5 is an empirically proven and scientifically endorsed typology system. it covers five core aspects of one's personality, such as openness to experience (inquisitive vs non-curious).
enneagram is a lot more complicated than the other two systems i've mentioned, featuring nine distinct personality types. however, i recommend tackling it first or prioritising it over the other systems, as i, and many others, would deem it the most important of them all. there is a lot to it, but that is simply par the course for typology. if you aren't prepared to read and dig deep, then maybe typology isn't for you.
resources :
"the complete enneagram" by beatrice chestnut !
beatrice chestnut is quite beginner-friendly, if you're just starting off, this particular book of hers is your best friend (mainly for enneagram, but also because it is a good taster of what you're getting into).
"gifts differing" by isabel briggs myers & peter b. myers
although i haven't mentioned mbti beyond discussing how newcomers cling onto it (typically 16p users), it is for this reason i feel compelled to share this particular resource. most people drop mbti the further they delve into typology, and i can't say i like the system either. however, this is your learning journey, and it's worth knowing what sites have been inaccurately portraying and selling.
there is lots of information out there relating to typology. other places to search include the internet archive for books and even personality database wiki pages for specific topics. remember to take a break if things get too overwhelming or stressful ! typology is for fun.
🫂
#typology#mbti#mbti types#temperament#big 5#enneagram#16 personalities#4 temperaments#temperaments#i will probably write individual posts for the systems i've mentioned here#like explaining them more in depth#but this is just a beginners guide to where you should start#i thought about adding more resources and links#but i dont think some systems and books are that beginner friendly#and the last thing i want to do is overwhelm anyone#if there is anything else you think i should add then let me know!#i think the complete enneagram is a good book to start with#and gifts differing is for the mbti confusion people face when coming from 16personalities and all that#although i dont necessarily like mbti tbh#but most of us started with it so

how do u do the 4w5 and personality stuffs tests 😓
I basically read a bunch of information on it and docs so I don't have a lot of test recs, tho there's a really good one for the MBTI on a page called "sakinorva", look it up on google as "sakinorva mbti test" and it should pop up!! If you're really invested in it I would reccommend to also read something about it. As for the enneagram (4w5, etc. ) you can do a bunch of tests if you're too lazy to read articles, I would also reccommend reading some online pages with info about it!! There's other things on my profile like "ELVF" that's psycosophy, for that one I read a 30 page smth article cuz I think that for that one is important informing yourself to do it well. And at last "melancholic-phlematic" is a temperament, those are really easy to find out, you only have to fill this chart :3
You just have to tick all of the strengths and weaknesses that you feel represented with, and after that you count how many you chose from every temperament to know yours. Idk if I explained it well, have in mind that everything I said isn't neccessary, either way, thank you for asking!! 💗

🫒🔪Olivia(Player) = ISFP “The Adventurer”🎨💛
In my First impression, I actually didn’t expect the player to be a girl. Second, I never expected her to be a goth. And, yet I never expected her to be THIS QUICK TO IDENTIFY.
- As we saw their first and final look, she wore gothic clothing. It can be a manner of fact that this is self expression already. But to be clear, she just dress the way she feels as a way to express what she feels, right now she wants to kill— [ (Head)Enneagram 4 ]
- She appears quite moody, it’s already likely they don’t seem positive anyways nor see the bright days (kinda, well depending). [ Melancholic ]
- From exploring a lot, to appearing fearless and being apparently action oriented. She’s quite flexible to her surroundings, being easygoing and possibly hinting curious [ Dominant Fi -> Auxiliary Se + (Gut)Enneagram 8 ]
- She does shared some sort of empathy, or likely has a responsible side in her as she truly empathizes with Scrina. I’d think she’d be selfish at first, she can be selfless/reckless for others. [ Self Perseverance + Enneagram 4 + Accomodating ]
- I don’t find her to be the ‘interested’ in a relationship kind of person, fairly or unfair she’d be a littlest too… “idealistic with hitting on people… [ Sexual + Enneagram 5 ]
- If there’s a reason she went to Alex’s school, it’s confrontational and action orienting. Okay that’s blatant, but then again why would you found a dagger, as well as arm yourself with a crossbow? I’d be very “too flinchy” to hold such a weapon. [ Enneagram 8 ]
- As Olivia we did get to hear Scrina’s feelings and how pained she is. [ Inquisitive ]
- Clearly faint Introverted intuition and non existent Extroverted Thinking. Ni is actually just when realizing/knowing the school isn’t what it seemed to be thing, as well as find meaning to why she came here(Not really exaggerating, as Ni is more of conceptualing and ideals). And Te is ‘F*ck the rules I’m being chased by an abomination.’ Okay but really she’d kind of had an issue with such standards, and could be naturally rebellious. [ Tertiary Ni -> Inferior Te ]
- Olivia’s inventory could only fit “much” things. [ Unorganized ]
Conclusion:
ISFP “The Adventurer”|| 4w5 - SP/SX - 458 || Melancholic (Dominant) || RCUAI
Olivia is an ISFP, “The Adventurer” Type.
ISFP’s are flexible, outgoing and easy going People who can be very fun and great befriending with. In their brightest, they’re naturally empathetic, loyal and authentic, however being an Introverted feeler makes them sometimes selfish, moody and too assertive.
[ Introverted, Sensing/Observing, Feeling, Percieving ]
Self-Perservation Four is more fitting to her than Social four, as SP4 is more of growth or improvement. SP4’s have a more empathetic approach to people, but is often ashamed of doing it as it doesn’t “feel” like them sometimes, since it’s a part of “shame”. But to put it positively, SP4 makes self-expression or using their artistic/aesthetic tastes more meaningful.
Sexual Five, aka “Trust” is characterized by being very intellectually hungry and more curious to the world. In childhood, SX5’s are either emotionally neglected or being intrusively forced to achieve. In this case emotional neglected in what I believe of Olivia, as she like the “romance/sexual” type of person, and seemed disinterested in such connection. In other words, SX5 is just a Sexual type with either trust issues or just couldn’t find the ideal partner.
Gut Eight have to be the best take on Olivia, like there’s got to be a reason why she’s in Alex’s School of reason’s unknown. She’s more of a confrontational character, and more of a challenging type in my take, as the upcoming revamp would display her fearless and brave demeanor. Rather than be chill (Nine/9) or grounded (One/1). (*There’s already an idea of Eight though btw.)
Now it’s likely to point that Olivia isn’t a positive person, in this worse case scenario. Like collecting books, being entrapped by a demon, everyone is being kind of hostile and Alex here just wants to harvest your human flesh. So in this case, Olivia can be possibly pessimistic in a positive sense, since it’s sketchy we don’t know why she’s in school in the first place. However though, Melancholics can be very artistic and poetic and they have taste to any absurd or surreal concepts.
(R) Reserved, since she’s introverted. (C) Calm, since she’s not overeactive. (U)Unorganized, as Olivia is in a hurry. Accomodating, as she’s being realistic, well not in just that way. She’s shown actual empathy after realizing that Scrina doesn’t really hate her, and forgave her on spot. And Inquisitive as she’s willing to be open minded to any thoughts given, that can be depending on the player or her characterization.
Other Notes/Trivia:
Her instinct and tritype is heavily inspired by me(Mary Violetique). As there’s a connection and similarity, like her reckless acts (SP4) and her core feelings(SX5). And admittedly, I was mistyped as 458 honestly. (*Which my gut is now 9, since I’m less assertive when it comes to action.)
Despite the whole “Curse” thing, horrific happenings and etc. No, she isn’t in a Fi-Ni Loop (Where one would try to find more meaning in life, or would try to find a way to have purpose. It’s usually unhealthy if this(*tertiary) isn’t used right).

"In art, his ideas had sprung from a simple point of view. For him schools did not exist, and only the temperament of the writer mattered, only the working of his brain interested him, regardless of the subject. Unfortunately, this verity of appreciation, worthy of Palisse, was scarcely applicable, for the simple reason that, even while desiring to be free of prejudices and passion, each person naturally goes to the works which most intimately correspond with his own temperament, and ends by relegating all others to the rear." - Joris-Karl Huysmans, Against the Grain

the four temperaments (humours) 🏛
a deep dive into the four temperament theory !
having its origins lie in the ancient medical system of "humourism," the temperaments is possibly the oldest system of typology that we know of ! it is said to have emerged from mesopotamia, gaining more attention once greek physician hippocrates developed it into a medical theory.
he believed that our behaviour, emotions, and susceptibility to specific diseases, could be explained by an excess or lack of certain bodily fluids ("humours") — blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm.
later, greek physician galen developed this concept into a proper typology system in his work "de temperamentis." the fluids/humours would eventually become known as "sanguine, "choleric", "melancholic," and "phlegmatic." a group of four personality types!
but what do they all mean? ↷
sanguine - ☁️
hot/wet — associated with the element of air, the season of spring, infancy, and the liver.
the enthusiastic pleasure-seekers, those that love to daydream and make new friends. they tend to be creative, sensitive, gregarious, optimistic, and charismatic. in accordance with the humoral theory, if you had a tendency to be happy, it could be assumed that it's because you have too much blood. under stress, the sanguine can become flighty, conceited, and careless.
strong enneagram correlation(s) = sp2, sx2, sx3, sp7, so7, sx7, so8, sx8
choleric - 🔥
hot/dry — associated with the element of fire, the season of summer, youth, and the gallbladder.
the pushy strivers, those that aim to lead and get the job done quickly. they tend to be assertive, passionate, aggressive, stubborn, and no-nonsense. in accordance with the humoral theory, if you had a tendency to be angry, it could be assumed that it's because you have too much yellow bile. under stress, the choleric can become irritable, impatient, and unstable.
strong enneagram correlation(s) = sp3, so3, sp8, so8, sx8, so1, sx1
melancholic -🪵
cold/dry — associated with the element of earth, the season of autumn, adulthood, and the spleen.
the abstract analysts, those that seek perfection and structure. they tend to be thoughtful, pessimistic, independent, non-practical, and critical. in accordance with the humoral theory, if you had a tendency to be sad, it could be assumed that it's because you have too much black bile. under stress, the melancholic can become selfish, rigid, and depressive.
strong enneagram correlation(s) = sp4, so4, sx4, sp5, so5, sx5, sp6, so6, sx6, sp1
phlegmatic -
cold/wet — associated with the element of water, the season of winter, old age, and the brain/lungs.
the relaxed peacemakers, those that find comfort in routine and calmness. they tend to be reserved, rational, observant, bashful, and consistent. in accordance with the humoral theory, if you had a tendency to be calm, it could be assumed that it's because you have too much phlegm. under stress, the phlegmatic can become sluggish, detached, and reclusive.
strong enneagram correlation(s) = sp5, sp9, so9, sx9
these are just my basic run-downs, i recommend you do your own research into the topic, too !
now, typing yourself is simple !
all it really takes is some degree of self-awareness and the ability to discern which one resonates with you the most. there are many ways that you can land on a temperament. some people end up relating to one so very much that they end up being "dominant" of a single type. what does this entail? well, it's quite straightforward. a person can simply relate to a temperament to a drastically more significant degree than another. for example, someone who is a "sanguine [dom]" must relate to the sanguine temperament much more than the other three.
those that cannot pick just one, however, typically end up with a "blend". but what is that? simply put, a blend is when an individual fuses together two temperaments. for example, i am a "melancholic-choleric", a blend of "melancholic", and "choleric". this means that i relate to melancholic the most, but choleric is extremely relatable as well, to a degree where it stands out and cannot be ignored.
there are many different types of blends, such as phlegmatic-sanguine, choleric-sanguine, phlegmatic-melancholic, so on, and so forth.
the best part of all? there are no contradictions !
