#TDP Future AU

My take on a distant future AU (that depends on Aaravos sacrificing so much energy into finally ensuring Leola's return that he has to abandon his mortal form for a bit - much to her heartbreak) and so

I have no idea how to connect all of these things and have a few vague ideas about who the New Gang is (one of them is a Moonshadow/Sunfire elf with a human grandma, who works for the Katolis Historical Society as a tour guide and she is e x h u s t e d)

There are so many more humans that figured out how to connect to a primal source, but it's like a small rural town's worth because it's still very hard to connect and requires a lot of introspection.

I'm trying to decide if Leola has just one child (named after Callum) or if she has two (named after Callum and Claudia). She's also looking after one of the New Gang, who is also in a coma. But because she connected to the Star primal and she couldn't handle the depths of Infinity, and not because of The Thing that knocked out all the elf kids under 10.

Zym is going strong as the Dragon King and is pretty well adored. Especially since Thunderfall is a thriving integrated city at this point.

And of course, aside from a Molly Gru-esque "How dare you come to me now, when I am this??? (burnt out and exhausted and lonely)" response to his return, Leola makes a pretty clear threat regarding Aaravos and his grandchild(ren).

Basically a "If I even hear a hint that you are pulling destructive stings for my child(ren) that you did for me, I will personally put you in a pearl myself and I will bind myself to it because I know how. Anyway! Humans figured out how to capture an obscura reflection! They put mirrors in a tiny box! I have mourned so many human friends that I am about to snap! The light in side me is dying! I really need you to just be my dad right now or I am going to lose it!"

There's a Rayllum grandchild running around as the new guardian of the Moon Nexus. Her name is Odette. (Which I. Realize now is ironic name choice with the whole "moon touching the lake" thing and was not deliberate on my part but I'm sticking to it. Give her eleven swans I guess)

Rayllum Overboard!AU fic idea

Callum is a divorced, struggling single father of four working as an obscure interior decorator with business partner Claudia (maybe he's a freelance artist on the side?)

Rayla is one of the vocalists in an up and coming all-elven musical group currently on tour across the country via boat.

Callum and Claudia are hired to do interior work/mural work for the boat. The two are forced to put up with put-downs, insults, and general hostility from Rayla's companions (Rayla herself, while not participating in the mistreatment, is also not doing anything to stop it)

Callum and Claudia finish the job, but are stiffed on payment, to their outrage. Claudia, fed up with the mistreatment, physically retaliates, and an all-out brawl occurs in which Rayla, in defense of her bandmates, pushes Callum and Claudia overboard. The boat then sails off, leaving the two of them drifting in the water, humiliated.

Later that night, Rayla can't sleep, haunted by the image of the two humans dejected in the water and ashamed of her part in the whole fiasco.

Distracted, she ends up falling off the boat.

She is found and rescued from sea by humans, who then discover she has lost her memory. She is admitted to a hospital, where the staff are generally indifferent to her on account of her being an elf.

Meanwhile, Callum is struggling more than usual. He can't find a caretaker for his kids while he works and he's lost his art equipment after that disastrous job with the Moonshadow elves, making it hard for him to find any work at all.

Claudia sees Rayla on the news and, upon hearing that she has amnesia, has an idea both on how to get revenge and how to help Callum. She goes to the hospital and claims Rayla is Callum's wife.

The hospital staff, eager to get rid of Rayla, don't question it and release Rayla to Claudia's care, who then takes Rayla over to Callum.

Callum is, understandably, horrified by what Claudia's done. He wants to tell Rayla the truth and send her back to the hospital, but Claudia manages to convince him not to by informing him of the mistreatment Rayla was receiving from the hospital as well as reminding him there's nothing stopping Rayla from calling the authorities on them both. Afraid of the legal consequences he and his friend might face, Callum reluctantly goes along with the ruse, at least for now, but makes Claudia promise to find out who Rayla really is so she can be returned home.

Rayla [now with a fake name I haven't decided on yet] struggles to 're-adapt' to her life with Callum and 'their' kids. She begins to bond with the children, though, who grow extremely fond of her as well.

It isn't long before she develops feelings for Callum, who is conflicted by his guilt/fear and his own burgeoning romantic feelings for Rayla. The two grow closer and closer until finally they kiss.

After their first kiss, Callum insists on taking things slow between them (by which I mean he refuses to have sex with her under false pretenses).

As he falls deeper in love with her, he decides he can no longer keep lying to her and tries to tell her the truth, only for Rayla not to believe him and think he's trying to break up with her. Callum apologizes and the two make up.

Eventually, Rayla's bandmates/maybe her family come looking for her, and her full memory returns. Feeling betrayed and used, she leaves, heartbroken.

The kids won't take this lying down, however. They go after Rayla and tell her the extenuating circumstances Callum was in-it hadn't been his idea to basically kidnap her, and he feared that if he went to the authorities the elves would misblame him for it alongside Claudia and his kids would be left alone.

Rayla softens, remembering the mistreatment Callum and Claudia endured from her bandmates, as well as the general animosity between elves and humans, and decides to talk to Callum. She and the kids are on their way back to the house when Callum himself shows up at her doorstep. He gets down on his knees and grovels, admitting he's in love with her. He knows she'll never trust him again, and he's not asking her to. He asks her what she wants from him, and he'll do it. He'll tell the authorities what he did, he says; he'll risk being imprisoned by the elves if that's what it will take to make things right.

Rayla joins him on the ground. She admits she's still hurt by what he did, but she understands why he let things go so far, similar to how she let her own biases towards humans stop her from doing the right thing by him back when they first met. She admits she still loves him and wants to be with him and the kids (and yes, by this point she fully considers them to be hers as well).

The two share a kiss, and are then dogpiled by their children.

This AU follows the draggang as they get older and go through all their milestones and the story of their children’s lives! This is currently still a work in progress and I’m working on more characters designs + stories but let’s start with the Rayllum kiddo’s!!

Sarai ~Jr~

Sarai is Rayla and Callum’s first born, she’s their spunky, quick witted and adventurous daughter. She’s an explosive mix of both of her parents but to their delight and annoyance at times. She was named after, Callum’s late mother. Sarai is more of a fighter than a mage but she finds magic interesting and wants to see how she can incorporate it into her sighting style. She was born connected to the moon arcanum and has learned the ocean arcanum.

Aydrin

Aydrin is Rayla and Callum’s youngest child, unlike his sister he’s a lot more reserved and quite; mainly because Aydrin tends to be non-verbal in spaces where he isn’t with his family, he prefers to talk through sign language as it’s less stressful for him. Aydrin loves to visit Runaan and Ethari and has picked up his creative side from his father and grandpa. He loves weapon smithing and designing armor and other weaponry. Aydrin was born connected to the moon arcanum, he has yet to learn any others.

Hey so I've been *eating up* your TDP au and I looove everything you've made for it!! (The fact that I've finished season 6 yesterday is not helping aaaaa)

And Valka is around......somewhere...... in Xadia.......

When she still lived in Berk she believed that peace was possible with the elves and dragons and did everything she could to convince anyone that they were not bloodthirsty monsters they had to fight. But of course no one believed her.

And so when she got taken by a dragon, after defending it and saving it's life during a raid, she figured that maybe Berk was hopeless and decided to stay in Xadia. (is this a flawed decision?? oh 100%. This action will have consequences in the future ;D)

And now 18 years later, she lives in the Uncharted Forest, helping and healing injured creatures and dragons and giving them a safe haven to reside in. She doesn't get many visitors, mainly because of the boundary spells that are set around her home, but she does get visits from her Sunfire elf friend who drops by from time to time to fill her in on things and ask for her help.

Recently though he's been trying to figure out what's been causing a corruption in the creatures of the region, and asked for her to keep an eye out for anything strange. Aside from that, the only other news Sandy has to share is that there's been a Sunfire elf terrorizing Berk. How strange. :)

Update:

Hey, it's been awhile since I updated y'all!

There was one ask I got a blue moon ago about Magic Between the Moon & Sky, and I will sadly report that I do not see myself updating that series for the foreseeable future. I didn't want to be one of those authors who make a 100 oneshot series then stop, but I am just not a fan of TDP at the moment so it's hard to really find the passion to write for a fandom I'm not in anymore.

I also know a good many of you are wondering about Loyalty & Light but I can confidently say that there is nothing solid yet. Another batch of twenty chapters is a lot for me and it will take a long while for it to get up and kicking. But I am still working at it. Don't be afraid to keep asking about it or to send asks! The comments I've been getting are a great inspiration!

Meanwhile, for The Most Undoing Thing, the final two chaps are coming! Regardless of season 2, this does not change the development of the fic at all. TMUT was always set in a post-season 1 only AU formula. I hoped to finish it before season 2, but alas, I did not. That said, I am immensely appreciative of the surge of love and attention toward TMUT. I guess a lot of people are aching for some Mama Jinx after Isha, huh? ( >ヮ<).

So when's TMUT coming out? Well here's a rundown:

Once again, all is subject to change of course. Between uni, my newfound interest with D&D, and personal matters, it's hard to find time to write. But I still wanna write! I love writing fics and I miss posting 'em. Fall sem is done and I am hyped to write. As always, if you're interested in these fics, I have a few asks or posts about them that you can find via tags!

In other news, I will officially state that I am now ceasing use of FFN or Fanfiction.Net. This doesn't mean I'll delete my account and all stories up there, but for the future, I will not crosspost anymore fanfics on FFN. With all the issues it's had over the years, and a new wave of scam mail, I'm just tired of it. I'm sad too, because I'm aware of the recent traction I've been getting on there as well, but I'm afraid I'm just too tired of it.

So, I'm only using Ao3 from here on out. Sorry to all you FFN users, but I hope you can find the leniency to at least follow my stories on Ao3!

- Here's Lucan (he was the royal adviser of Lux Aurea who works with the royal families) & his wife, Chaedi (Royal Guard of Lux Aurea), also their son Ethari as the Formerly Sunfire Craftman of Lux Aurea 🙌. For his future since he saved Lux Aurea by his sacrifice.

- For my opinion, I wish they should be reunion together that Runaan has the mission to killed King Harrow & his son, Ezran. Ethari was worried about his husband. And for season 7, wnhat if Runaan will apologize to King Ezran & Ethari wants to find his love interest & his two daughters Rayla & Loreleia (My OC) 🤭 or maybe these moon & sun family can be reunited with humans. Ethari wanted to see his parents again. 🤧✨

En parlant de la théorie de la pièce à mon ami, il m'a fait comprendre une chose. Oui emprisonner Aaravos dans une pièce est une possibilité mais ça signifie répéter la même erreur qu'Akiyu et les autres. L'un des thèmes de tdp est de ne pas répéter les erreurs du passé faisant perpétuer un cycle de violence. On dit souvent que l'histoire est condamné à répéter les mêmes erreurs. Mais il y a une autre phrase qui dit "Ceux qui ne peuvent se souvenir du passé sont condamnés à le répéter et à commettre les mêmes erreurs." Et le dragang connaissent les erreurs du passé et essaient de les éviter tant qu'ils peuvent malgré les conséquences de leurs choix et de leurs actes. En revanche utiliser le dernier diamant de quasar pour libérer soit Kpp'ar, un des parents de Rayla ou bien l'utiliser comme catalyseur pour un sort de l'étoile, ce serait un bon dilemme pour eux de comment vaincre Aaravos. J'espère que le dragang comprendra que c'est pas en l'emprisonnant que ça va arranger quoi que ce soit. C'est comme dans FE Awakening, si tu décides de sceller Grima avec l'épée de Falchion. Dans la mauvaise fin du dlc condamnes les générations à venir. Les enfants des protagoniste résistent au retour de Grima dans un pays en ruines.

Talking to my friend about the coin theory made me realize something. Yes, imprisoning Aaravos in a coin is a possibility, but it means repeating the same mistake as Akiyu and the others. One of tdp's themes is not to repeat the mistakes of the past, perpetuating a cycle of violence. It's often said that history is doomed to repeat the same mistakes. But there's another phrase that says “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it and make the same mistakes.” And Callum and the others know the mistakes of the past and try to avoid them while they can, despite the consequences of their choices and actions. On the other hand, using the last quasar diamond to free either Kpp'ar, one of Rayla's relatives, or using it as a catalyst for another of the Star's spells, would be a good dilemma of how to defeat Aaravos. I hope the dragang understands that imprisoning him isn't going to fix anything. It's like in FE Awakening, if you decide to seal Grima, an evil dragon with Falchion's sword. The dlc's bad ending dooms future generations. The protagonists' children resist Grima's return to a country in ruins.

Day 1 - what tdp means to me

A safe haven. A home far from home. The soundtrack of my life.

A story worth revisiting and loving however many times you can. Deep sorrow and loss you feel great empathy for. Emotions and feelings and thoughts and actions which seem so authentic.

I've already said it but The Dragon Prince has become more than just a fantasy series I watch for the sake of learning a language for me. It has become a part of me. And I'm not even joking. Sometimes I think- this is not healthy, how can I live for 6 freaking years thinking non-stop about this story, its world, the possible scenarios of its future- drawing Rayla in my notebooks all the time- coming up with AUs as I fall asleep and imagine them unfold like a movie- I can't help it.

I really hope I'll be able to move on if- if season 7 turns out to be the last season. Y'know, for these 6 years with tdp, I have finished school, moved to the capital city, went to a university, graduated, got a job and now I'm on my first year of getting a magister degree. I'm 22. Almost a quarter of my life I've lived knowing tdp, waiting for new seasons, for littlest bits of content in between of them, for any new theories and discussions. For fan works. Gosh. I really feel like crying. I've written a whole freaking fic on how Aaravos couldn't let go- Look who's speaking. As if I myself can. I can't. I don't know. It might be painful- or I might just forget about it after half a year. I don't know.

Y'know, it's so strange- when you meet people for the first time and you talk about personal things and ask each other things like 'What's your favourite show/book/title?'. I've never ever met a single person who would have at least heard of The Dragon Prince. The only person I can talk to about it is my friend who's lost the major part of her interest and love for the show and I guess she only keeps talking about it with me out of politeness and because she's a wonderful person. This show, it's so little, so little-known and so precious.

No, I will never forget it. It stole such a big chunk of my heart. Nahh, not happening! Хрена с два.

I guess since this is the end anyway and it's not that much important anyway- For these months between s6 and s7 I tried writing fanfiction, for the first time. Because I couldn't hold it in myself anymore. I don't know how good my works are, but- it was a greatest pleasure to write them, even if in a language that's not my native. It was- wonderful, truly. Every little and big comment- they warmed my heart like small suns. And being able to talk to another equally crazy Aaravos & Callum fan- it was invaluable. Yeah, Damascus, I'm talking to you, I know you have an account on Tumblr though you don't come here often and it's very unlikely you ever see this. Anyway, I've enjoyed every moment of knowing you. It was almost like- amid all loneliness- I've got a new friend. I'm Asentse, yeah, though that's one fuck of a great reveal. It only mattered to me and not much anyway because tumblr still allows for anonymity. Thank you and thank everyone in this fandom. I've only known you guys online and since season 4 but- you're all incredible! I hope we will meet again in other fandoms-

tragic backstory (TM) au) jaune finds out a version of him becomes the rusted knight in the future, awesome right? not really that version of jaune is trying to kill the younger version of himself to make sure he doesn't have to spend the rest of eternity in the ever after. how does ozpin react to his newest pet project trying to kill a younger version of himself thus making a time paradox? ozpin: "ah I see jaune's at that stage of his heroic journey, ah it seems like only yesterday I was fighting off MY homicidal future self. ah to be young again"

rusted knight jaune does eventually teach his younger self to take charge and be the king remnant wants him to be rather than just listing through life. he also might have killed his younger self for a little bit there it's unclear. also rusted knight jaune vanished in a flash of light so he might have caused himself to disappear due to time paradox. once again ozpin is no help in explaining shit

Was thinking about my “Silver Sygils” future AU.

Where Leola is pretty much a narrative opposite to Aaravos. Basically being dragged into things constantly and ultimately not being needed in the end, much to her annoyance.

Her own home is an observatory built on the Sea of the Castout. (“We’re standing over where my skull used to be!”)

She’s just kind of a combination of Lujanne and Eda Clawthorn. With all the usefulness of MEEGAN (and the same exhaustion with getting roped into things that ultimately resolve themselves)

And then Aaravos returns from the stars and they get to be mirrors of each other.

Also an element I forgot about in my original pitch for the concept: the remains of an elf (?) wash up from the depths of the ocean after a massive seismic event. No one can identify what it is exactly. Not even Aaravos when he gets involved.

(They’re basically merfolk at this point. And are to Tidebound elves what Celestial elves are to Skywjng, but to a greater extreme. This was an arch mage that basically went out like Avatar Roku during a cataclysm in the ocean deep)

Do you have any Modern AUs that you could share with us?

TDP corner has quite a few pretty well known Modern AU fics (Zoommates, Homeward Bound, some others I'm sure I'm forgetting and @jelzorz's dabbled in a few, probably most notably "raising chickens" and "a snowfall kind of love"). One of my all time favourites is this long, sweet, friendship with dashes of romance centric oneshot. General Modern AUs tag here that will probably have the bulk of what you're looking for fic/fanart wise <3

For myself, I'm mostly incapable writing anything other than Rayllum first meetings only when it comes to Modern AUs / I prefer to stick as close to canon's world as possible generally speaking, but some exceptions:

Honestly the only modern AU headcanons I hold strongly to is like

Callum and Ezran are from a mixed race, interfaith family. Harrow is Christian so they do celebrate Christmas, but culturally participate and consider themselves to be Jewish far more. Callum (+ Amaya and Sarai) are Korean and Ezran is half Black, half Korean

Ezran would be an animal rights protection lawyer

If Rayla plays an instrument, she plays the drums (listen, the sticks just work well with her dual blades)

Soren's favourite movie is "Bend It Like Beckham"

I think I have just one modern AU planned for the future which is Great Responsibility, featuring Ezran being bitten by a radioactive spider, Callum as his protective only mildly freaking out big brother, and Rayla as the boxer who actually teaches Ezran how to fight (and gets drawn into their shenanigans as a result) but that's more Ezran (+ broyals) centric than anything else

I feel like I can say this now but that whole period of time where I wrote nothing but angst for the sake of angst? Yeah I wonder what piece of media took the brunt of that. It was TDP. Always TDP.

I have terrifying ideas. I really do. Aside from the one I had from the start where you know, eventually GF will have to watch Pico and BF die without her because they are human and she isn't. That's always been in my mind since day one of starting Poly Propaganda and I would be lying if I said I didn't think about ending the series on a one-shot like that where GF is alone, years and years in the future. I won't. At least I don't think I will but yknow things change-

If I was stronger I would add a TDP AU on top of my Fossil Fighters AU. Sunfire Elf GF would go crazy. Moonshadow Elf Pico. Human-Skywing hybrid BF. Yknow, ideas. But I know I would get too distracted to do much with it so neh.

GF already has magic being a demon anyways there's always awful accidents I can cause with that without a crossover. Maybe one of them gets a little too hurt in one situation because oh, perhaps, their one deep truths are each other, and they do it all for each other, perhaps even give their life up. Could make two have to watch the third fade away and die in their arms. Could make the dying one tell them "close your eyes" so they don't have to see it happen. COULD

But it comes to a point where I have to decide can my own heart handle that anymore. I'm not 19 years old anymore, suffering in the tail-ends of a trauma that took 3 years already from my life. Back then I could handle the awful things I wrote because as far as I was concerned, I already lived in it. That was nothing but a typical afternoon. I don't suffer like that anymore, I don't think, and maybe I've forgotten a little how bad I really was. I don't think I want to return to that, though. Glimpses will happen because progress isn't a straight line. Some days you lose it all and remember things. And yknow. Maybe just because my heart survived all of that doesn't mean I should dip back into it for long, if at all

Pain should not be comfortable. Like I wrote. It shouldn't. And my relationship with angsty writing is a bit... way more complicated than it should be. I still do it sometimes, but notice how I always give it a happy ending? Yeah I didn't always used to do that. Like, at all. It's very VERY tempting to do that again for FNF because "I can". Doesn't mean I should but the ideas are there! And I may not write them but I can still think them. There's a lot.

Because maybe I would be that mean to let BF die in Pico and GF's arms. Some version of me would. Just maybe not this one :]

Hello, I recently read your Magic Between the Moon & Sky series, and I really like the college AU series. It's really wonderful. I want to know if there will be an opportunity to update in the future. If you don't mind, I would like to know why you Not a fan of TDP anymoreFinally, I wish you well. The novels you wrote really bring me great joy.

Ahh, it means a lot to know that you enjoyed my work! I really enjoyed writing Rayllum immensely and I loved to see that a lot of people liked it as much as I did (if not more, apparently 😅). The reason for why I dropped off TDP is kinda... strange to explain. My second oldest sister and I were big fans of the show, and as you can obviously tell from my blog, I was excited about it for a time!

But when Season 4 of The Dragon Prince was announced I was really excited about it! But at the time, my sister and I had others shows we were watching. I was also busy writing for The Most Undoing Thing at the time and didn't want to be too sidetracked with other fandoms. And then, as time went on, it kinda got away from us but we were shocked to hear that Season 5 was announced later in 2023 summer.

Now I know Season 2 and 3 had a similar time gap, for us, we were kinda worried about hearing such an immediate follow up when it felt like Season 4 just came out. Apprehensively, I looked at some reviews and such. I won't say that I haven't been influenced by what I heard, but I also know that there was good reviews and legitimate excitement too! I already read a small amount of the comic materials and books that came out in the break between Season 3 and 4, so I knew a lot of the changes to come.

And the time skip.

So, seeing a bit of a divide, my sister and I slowly just thought, "Well, we'll get around to it." But evidently, it just became something we kind of lost interest in. Season 3 was good, but there were some pacing things we weren't a fan of. For me, I enjoyed the heart of the story and the characters throughout. In the end, I was also aware of the rushed aspects of the narrative too at times.

All in all, I started to have less attachment to really wanting to watch or enjoy the media I was into, and just started focusing on MBTMS itself. Because I still liked Rayllum, and people still liked what I wrote. Though, it became an issue for me, because now I was essentially writing for a fandom I was losing interest in, which meant motivation was hard to muster.

I just felt like I was obligating myself to writing something I wasn't invested in, which made me worry that it would reflect in my writing. And the last thing I wanted, was to write something and put it out when I wasn't even happy with it. With that aside, time just kept moving on and suddenly there's 6 Seasons of this series, and I felt like it was just a lot.

The pacing of TDP has always been... strange. I understand that it's been separated into sagas as well. For MBTMS, I genuinely do wish to finish it someday. But the issue with most of MBTMS, is that it's largely set in an AU stories. And AU or not, I do my best to emulate the canon characters in their personalities and behaviours. So it's hard to do that when you haven't looked at canon material for so long nor if you're just not all too keen on getting back into it.

TL;DR: After putting it off for awhile, it got away from me and my interest slowly waned based on the overall pacing and output of the show. From the reviews and responses, I just felt less inclined to get back into it which affected my motivation to writing for MBTMS. I don't think I'll return to MBTMS, but I wish to someday.
