QSMP Ramblings

[Mind you, I have not been watching many streams lately or kept up with much lore, so if there's info contradicting anything I say, idc this is just random thoughts I had.]

Sometimes I like to think that Cucurucho clipped the avian's wings because they might be able to maybe perhaps escape. I mean, why else? If they really can't leave, by some force or another, why remove their ability to fly? It seems pointless (and a bit cruel) if there's nowhere for them to go.

On another note, the egg kids definitely aren't actual dragon eggs. At least, not entirely. They probably have the attributes of a dragon (most likely stolen DNA from the 'mother', hence why they are all related but (probably) don't look exactly alike) but aren't of natural birth.

Purpose of the island? Probably an experiment meant to test subjects in a semi-controlled environment to see how they react to different stressors in order to figure out if they're fit to leave the island. Be indoctrinated into society or something. The code monster could be a failed prototype originally meant for use, but something went wrong. It's probably trying to kill the eggs either from its messed up programming (glitch. They may have programmed it with the will to protect, like say, Chayanne, but it switched when their body deteriorated) or out of jealousy because it was promised the life the eggs were living. Besides the eggs, ElQuackity is the most successful of these projects. (Not including Baghera, Jaiden and Cellbit(?) Because I imagine they weren't fully created by the Federation.)

Anyway, uh, yeah. That was some thoughts I had abt the QSMP with my extremely limited and fragmented knowledge of the lore.

Since Tumblr is inflicting its Shiny New Post Editor™ on the users, now, there's really no reason for me to keep New XKit. Tweaks and Quick Tags don't really do much on the new Dashboard, and I didn't use the functions of Mass+ enough to justify keeping it. And for stuff XKit Rewritten doesn't cover? uBlock.

Still, it looks like you win this round, XKit Rewritten. But, we'll see how you fair when Tumblr destroys the API in another few years. (;

Your version of Quick Tags is less fancy than New XKit's, though.

I told my students they're allowed to be creative and don't have to be factual when writing about themselves in German because I keep getting questions like "what if I don't have roommates or what if I don't have hobbies" and I'm like guys just make something up! Have fun! I won't fact check you!

So now I am grading homework where a student is claiming to be from North Korea and his hobby is tax fraud

"I’m very concerned about my client’s right to a fair trial in this case.  He’s being prejudiced by some statements that are being made by government officials. Like every other defendant, he’s entitled to a presumption of innocence. But unfortunately the way this has been handled so far his rights are being violated. And as you know, Your Honor, there’s a wealth of case law guaranteeing his rights to a fair trial, but none of the safeguards have been put in place yet here — in fact it’s just the opposite of what’s been happening. 

He’s a young man, and he is being treated like a human pingpong ball between two warring jurisdictions here.

These federal and state prosecutors are coordinating with one another at the expense of him. They have conflicting theories in their indictment, and they are literally treating him like he is some sort of political fodder, like some sort of spectacle. 

He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest staged perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career. It was absolutely unnecessary. He’s been cooperative with law enforcement. He’d been in custody for over a week. He waived extradition. He was cooperative at all accounts. There was no reason for the NYPD and everybody to have these big assault rifles — that frankly I had no idea it was in their arsenal — and to have all the press there the media there. It was perfectly choreographed. 

And what was the New York City Mayor doing at this press conference, Your Honor? That just made it utterly political. And as your honor knows under Loro v. Charles, the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit has held it to be clearly established that these staged perp walks to the media unrelated to a legitimate law enforcement objective is unconstitutional. And I submit that there was zero law enforcement objective to do that sort of perp walk. There’s absolutely no need for that whatsoever. 

And frankly, Your Honor, the mayor should know more than anyone about the presumption of innocence that he, too, is afforded dealing with his own issues. And, frankly, I submit that he was just trying to detract from those issues by making a spectacle of Mr. Mangione. 

And there are consequences to this. 

He has a right to a fair trial. And I just want to put on the record statements that the mayor made publicly about my client. Nothing saying “alleged” for example. And he said ���I wanted to send a strong message with the police commissioner that we’re leading from the front. I’m not just going to allow him to come into our city. I wanted to look him in the eye and state ‘You carried out this terrorist act in my city, the city of New York that I love.’” And he wanted to show symbolism. 

Your Honor, he’s not a symbol. He’s somebody who is afforded the right to a fair trial. He’s innocent until proven guilty. And the mayor was talking to jurors — future potential jurors that elected him. Those are the people that elected him that he is talking to and calling this man a terrorist.

So, Your Honor, I just want to make a record of this and put everyone on notice that this has to stop, and my client is entitled to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence."

I recently got an on-campus job. During the interview process, I requested that I not be scheduled on Friday nights or Saturdays as I am a Jewish student.

My boss immeadiately brightened and rushed to explain - "Of course ! Of course! We want to accomodate you! We have another worker who takes off for Ramadan. Do you need to take off for Ramadan?"

I shook my head, incredibly confused. "Uh. That's. Not my jurisdiction. I'm good." Boss nodded but was sure to add "Let me know if that ever changes. We can help you with Ramadan."

this happened months ago. i cannot keep it in any longer. a while ago i went on a porn site ive never been to and it asked if i was over 18 and i misclicked and said no and it automatically sent me to google images of puppies and kittens. i still cannot get over how funny this is.
