How Does Korea Celebrate Green Day with Street Food and Culture?
Tumblr media
Introduction
Korea is renowned for its charming and unique couple-centric holidays, each providing a special opportunity for partners to express their love. Among these holidays, Green Day stands out as a delightful celebration that combines romance and nature. Observed on August 14th, Green Day is a lesser-known but heartwarming occasion that encourages couples to enjoy the outdoors and share green-colored drinks together.
Korean music and themes often enhance these celebrations, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Couples might delight in listening to popular bands like Blackpink, whose K-pop and pop music hits are perfect for creating a joyful ambiance. As Blackpink stars illuminate the music charts, their songs serve as a soundtrack for love. Likewise, BTS stars and their extensive BTS fandom infuse the day with energy and excitement, with their songs providing a lively backdrop.
In addition to music, couples can indulge in Korean fast food, adding a fun and delicious twist to their Green Day experience. It’s an ideal day for partners to connect with nature, making it a memorable and special occasion.
The Origin of Green Day
Green Day is a part of Korea’s "14th-day" celebrations, where each month features a unique theme for couples. While Valentine’s Day and White Day are celebrated globally, Green Day is cherished by those who love the peaceful beauty of nature and the simplicity of spending quality time together.
This day is often filled with the sounds of Korean singers and K-pop music, providing an ideal backdrop for the celebration. Korean pop stars enhance the appeal of Green Day, with their catchy songs creating a vibrant and romantic atmosphere for couples to relish.
Celebrating Green Day: Traditions and Activities
Embracing Nature:
A cherished way to observe Green Day is by spending time in the great outdoors. Many couples choose to take relaxing strolls in parks, explore picturesque trails, or visit botanical gardens. The vibrant greenery offers a wonderful setting for romantic moments and meaningful conversations.
To make their outdoor experience even more special, couples can bring along some delicious Korean street food. Ordering Korean food online allows them to savor treats like Samyang Buldak Ramen, a beloved Korean spicy ramen. Enjoying a meal of Samyang ramen noodles amid the natural beauty adds a distinctive and flavorful touch to their Green Day festivities.
Green Beverages:
On Green Day, a fun and quirky tradition involves drinking green-colored beverages. Soju, a popular Korean alcoholic drink, is especially enjoyed in its green-bottled form.
To pair with these drinks, couples might indulge in delicious dishes such as Sticky Veg Fried Rice With Soup, Sticky Egg Fried Rice With Soup, or Sticky Chicken Fried Rice With Soup, adding a satisfying and flavorful touch to their celebration.
Non-alcoholic options like green tea, matcha lattes, and smoothies are also popular choices.
Eco-friendly Activities:
Green Day also serves as a reminder to value and protect the environment. Some couples opt to engage in eco-friendly activities like planting trees, cleaning up parks, or starting a small garden together.
To enhance the experience, they might enjoy listening to Blackpink Kpop or Blackpink pop music, providing a lively soundtrack for their efforts.
After a day dedicated to environmental contribution, they can unwind with delicious Korean food ordered online, such as Samyang Buldak Ramen, making the day both impactful and memorable.
Matching Green Outfits:
For this festive occasion, couples often embrace the tradition of dressing in matching green outfits. This charming practice enhances the visual appeal of the day and reflects their unity and shared passion for nature.
As they revel in their coordinated attire, they might enjoy a meal of Korean spicy ramen or Samyang ramen noodles, adding a delicious and comforting element to their celebration.
The fun continues with music from Blackpink and BTS, which can set a lively and memorable tone for the festivities.

Imagining how Lianhua’s household would celebrate Chinese New Year’s Eve

On the morning of New Year’s Eve, Lianhua announces to Ah Fei and Xiaobao that he’s got their new year’s eve dinner all planned out.
“Trust me,” he says with unfounded confidence.
Ah Fei narrows his eyes. Xiaobao smiles nervously with trepidation.
On Chinese new year’s eve, Lianhua presents his husband and disciple/adopted child with the following dishes:
Vinegar Fish of the Western Lake è„żæč–醋鱌
Xiaobao’s review: Amazingly, it tastes just as terrible as the version they serve at the famous Hangzhou restaurant Lou Wai Lou.
(Author note: Seriously, don’t order this “regional delicacy” if you find yourself in Hangzhou. Unless you enjoy the taste of unseasoned steamed fish drowning in vinegar sauce. Order any other fish dish. Like squirrel fish æŸéŒ éłœé±Œ or a plain old steamed fish 枅蒞鱌. Also, Lou Wai Lou is a tourist trap. Yes it’s got a long history, and was referenced in the Mysterious Lotus Casebook theme song and appears in Grave Robber’s Chronicles, but no, it is no longer good.)
Osmanthus Lotus æĄ‚èŠ±èŽČ藕
Xiaobao’s review: All the ingredients are there and assembled correctly. But why is the flower sauce burnt????
Lianhua: I’ve already ruined two pans from trying to make this sauce! The sugar keeps hardening into rock candy and sticking to my pan! (Caramelization is hard 😭)
(Author note: Do order this dish if you travel to the Yangzhou-Nanjing-Hangzhou-Shanghai area. It’s steamed lotus stuffed with sweet sticky rice and covered in sweet osmanthus flower sauce, what’s not to love?)
Bamboo shoot and chicken soup ç«č笋炖龡
Di Feisheng’s review: Even I am finding it hard to ignore the amount of salt that’s in this soup
Xiaobao: This is salvageable. I’m going to boil some water
(Author note: this is a new year staple in my household 😋)
Longjin Shrimp 韙äș•è™Ÿä»
Fang Duobing’s review: This is actually ok. But then again, it’s hard to really mess this dish up. But I don’t taste the tea. At all. It’s just stir-fried shrimp. Where is the Longjin?
Lianhua: Young Master Fang, do you know how much Longjin tea costs???
(Author note: I tried making this dish at home. It is stir-fried shrimp in a sauce that incorporates Longjin tea. It’s hard to get the tea flavor right without it either not coming through or becoming too bitter. The stir-fried shrimp part is pretty easy.)
After dinner, Xiaobao receives a very bulky red envelope from Lianhua and gets very excited. He opens it, revealing eight bank notes, each worth only one silver tael. His face drops and he begins to pout but Lianhua reminds him that he is a broke old man, while Xiaobao stands to inherit one of the largest fortunes in the country.
Di Feisheng reluctantly hands Xiaobao a very thin envelope. “My accountant prepared it for me. I don’t know anyone I’d consider my junior 晚蟈, so you can have it.”
It’s one bank note worth 800 silver taels.
Both Xiaobao and Lianhua gasp in shock.
Lianhua: “Do I get one too? You’re a bit older than me, you know.”
Di Feisheng: “Have you got no pride?”
Lianhua: “Ah Fei gege” đŸ„ș
(Note: gege means “older brother” in Chinese)

₍^..^₎ ⌅ Day in the life of younger sibling sae&rin â€čđŸ„

waking up in the morning at 7:00am sharp, getting ready for the minature version of prison but with your 2 older brothers. sae, the oldest, sleeps at the bedroom right side of yours - along with rin, second oldest, who sleeps at the bedroom left side of yours.
they're already awake by the time you are. in fact they wake you up, because if they didn't we'd be here until noon. sae makes the pancakes and rin makes the orange juice, your in charge of eating it.
since its the morning there's not much conversations being made & it's dead quiet aside from the rustling sounds of plates and bags being taken out. the itoshi brothers don't mind you being reliant on them, as they think it's a responsibility. they'd be willing to make you breakfast and wake you up everyday until you die.
Tumblr media
when you arrive to the gates of hell, sae has to go to the other building. he tells you to stay safe and walks away, leaving rin to take care of you. rin always walks with you till the lockers cuz what if some creep goes up to you?? you need a 6 ft tall brother to handle this ( emo dog priviledges )
hanging out with your friends is cool, but not when the captain of the junior soccer club rin itoshi is constantly staring at your guy friends while his team mate isagi yoichi tries to get his attention. everytime you tell him that your fine and it's alright he goes :|.
Tumblr media
class goes by smoothly and now its lunch time, yippie :D. oh but you don't need to get in line to get school lunch food that's ew, you already have a handmade lunch box made by sae.
today's lunch box consisted of sticky white rice along with fried egg, baby carrots with sweet & sour chicken. all in separated containers, packed nicely in a heating bag - oh and a pot of seaweed soup. nice.
as usual, the baby carrots are left untouch with a few white rice left sticking on the container. that's gonna be sae's business later on in the afternoon. you don't miss the way sae passes by your classroom, claiming he wants to see the school's newest football player isagi yoichi but everytime isagi talks to him he looks at the container of untouched baby carrots instead with an annoyed glare
isagi is starting to think the family has some issues going on.
Tumblr media
school life is tough but when its finally over, you practically sprint to the metal gates only for sae to grab your hand and tells you "it's not safe" and to "calm down" while rin crosses his hands and gives you an unimpressed look.
"too slow turtle, i was already here" "you were supposed to wait for them dumbass" "says who?"
since its a hot summer day, sae takes you and rin to an ice cream shop to cool down a little. sae never eats the ice cream though, just hands you and rin a cone each and pays for it.
Tumblr media
when you get home, you leave your lunchboxes on the table and decided to get a cooling bath. you don't do your homework immediately despite the constant nagging from sae and instead play some games.
at 8:24pm you went downstairs to eat dinner. rin always drags you off the bed because no matter how loud sae calls you to come down and eat you never seem to find the energy to do so.
Tumblr media
at 11:30pm, after a tired day of everything you finally fall back to bed and sleep. you always forget to shut the lights so rin has to personally go to your room to do that for you, he says its a bad habit that you should fix soon but somehow his eyes never show a hint of annoyance.
at 12:00am does sae finally sleep, not without checking up on you and rin's room to make sure your both snoozing away. only after doing that does he find the comfort to be able to fall asleep, dreaming about whats to come.

In honour of George’s cookbook.... Food headcannons please! I’d love you to do one of the free cities like Myr
Order up while we wait another ten years for Winds
 đŸ‘©â€đŸłđŸ„˜đŸ§†đŸ›
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Myr, the fertile heel of Essos, reminds me a lot of Spain and the Iberian Peninsula in general. A port city with a warm climate good for growing. This means lots of staples like rice and other grains, and plentiful olives/olive oil as well. Seafood is a huge part of the diet too. This leads to large fried grain dishes topped with mollusks or fish or shrimp (like Paella), and versatile seafood soups and stews with plenty of spices being quite popular in Myr.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Volantis’ climate reminds me of Thailand, Vietnam, and other surrounding SEA countries, so let’s say the food is similar too. Plenty of rice and noodles to pour your main dishes on top of. Multiple courses consisting of spicy stews/curries, fried meat and veggie dishes, fish platters, and gelatinous rice dishes. Cold noodles and other chilled foods are very popular too, due to the relief it provides from the sticky heat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lys is kind of a a mishmash of the Greek islands, so let’s go with classic Mediterranean foods. The island is very fertile, so I think they like to make use of their abundance of veggies. Cold salad-like dishes are very popular, drenched in oil and spices. Cooked vegetables are usually the main course, often stuffed with rice, chicken, or other filling foods. There are also dips and sauces bc they seem like dips and sauces ppl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know Braavos is supposed to be like Venice but it’s also cold and wet there so
✹Polish and general North Eastern European food✹ but it works hear me out. Multicultural blends of vegetable and fish stews that have changed over time to become uniquely Braavoisi. Veggies/fish/meet/fruit/literally anything wrapped in dough bc things wrapped in dough surpass borders. Overall just a mash of differing cultures the city was founded on plus the environment in which they live. (Shoutout @ludcake for the help đŸ«¶)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Croatian food is notably heterogeneous so that’s why I think it’s perfect for Pentos. There’s no one major inspiration for its food, being a major trade city, its people take knowledge from whichever foreigner has pulled into port and uses it for their cuisine. Flavorful and random seafood stews. Simple cold salads with vinegar and potatoes. Very daring raw octopus dishes. The list goes on

Chinese Regulus who love language is food!! Adds a unique twist to common European dishes!! Fruit bowls as an apology!! Who personally designs traditional Chinese clothes for his kid(s)!! Who owns his own set of traditional clothing!! WeChat but literally never uses it!! All important details yes but the FOOD!!
He makes bian rou (Fujianese wonton soup) for James when he's sick and a bunch of other remedies in the form of soup! (James is too scared to admit to him that the black chicken herbal soup isn't all that good) (I agree I dread having to drink that sometimes). He used to send Sirius fried taro cakes in case Hogwarts didn't have any. When he and James are too tired to cook anything he whips up peanut butter noodles and calls it a day. Sirius puts all the yams in his rice congee into Regulus' bowl during breakfast!! Makes batches of mantou from scratch when he's stressed while the Pantheon is snagging the steamed buns every so often, he sends the remaining off to the Marauders, mostly just Sirius and James. WILL FIGHT SIRIUS TOOTH AND NAIL FOR THE LAST BBQ PORK BUN!!! He also makes sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves and has to charm them so Barty doesn't steal them before he steams them!! In fact! Regulus eats his zongzi plain with a shit ton of sugar while Sirius prefers them to be more savory and filled with mushrooms and chicken!!

nostalgic food
i’ll want to reference this in the future
Tumblr media
gỏi cuốn (spring roll with chicken, egg, rice noodle, carrot, lettuce, avocado)
Tumblr media
peanut sauce is just peanut butter+water, hoisin+sriracha sauce, and a tiny bit of sesame oil (tastes good with almost anything imo)
Tumblr media
yellow curry
rice noodle with chicken, potatoes, yams, onions, carrots in a creamy coconut milk and yellow curry paste broth
lemon juice and salt mix with garlic chili for dipping
Tumblr media
bĂČ kho (vietnamese beef stew)
kho is a cooking technique where a protein is braised in a mixture of fish sauce, sugar, and water or coconut juice to make a salty/savory result
bread dips in stew beef/potatoes dip in lime juice/salt/pepper mix
cucumber slices to offset the salty
Tumblr media
xĂĄ xĂu (cantonese style bbq pork)
the seasoning mix is made of sugar, powdered soy sauce, onion and garlic powder, and spices
the pink color very much freaked out middle schoolers at lunch
Tumblr media
cÆĄm táș„m (broken rice, grilled pork, egg, pickled carrots/daikon with scallions/oil garnish and fish sauce)
Tumblr media
bĂșn bĂČ huáșż (thick round rice noodle with beef soup)
more "fun" than phở imo
bĂșn bĂČ broth: spicy salty flavor (lemongrass, spicy chili, fermented shrimp paste, fish sauce)
phở broth: earthy sweet flavor (cinnamon, star anise, onion, ginger, garlic, herbs)
Tumblr media
bĂĄnh mĂŹ (baguette sandwich with cháșŁ lỄa (pork sausage), xĂĄ xĂu (cantonese style bbq pork) coriander leaf (cilantro), cucumber, pickled carrots, and pickled daikon combined with pĂątĂ© and buttery mayonnaise)
Tumblr media
salmon instead of nem nướngÌŁ (viet grilled pork) with bĂĄnh hỏi (rice vermicelli)
feat nori (dried edible seaweed)
wrapped with lettuce and dipped in nước máșŻm (fish sauce)
Tumblr media
bĂĄnh cuốn (rice noodle rolls filled with ground meat, wood ear mushrooms, onions)
topped with cháșŁ lỄa (pork sausage) and fried red onions and nước máșŻm (fermented salted fish sauce)
a fav of grandpa's
pizza man mispronounces it as "bun goo" which makes my mom giggle cause the way he says goo sounds like penis
Tumblr media
bånh tét (glutinous rice rolled in a banana leaf into a thick, log-like cylindrical shape, with a mung bean and pork filling)
Tumblr media
bĂĄnh rĂĄn (deep fried sesame ball filled with mung bean)
Tumblr media
bånh da lợn "pig skin cake" (tapioca starch, rice flour, mung bean, taro, coconut milk)
Tumblr media
bĂĄnh bột chiĂȘn (fried taro rice cake, a fav of pizza man)
Tumblr media
phở (broth: earthy sweet flavor- cinnamon, star anise, onion, ginger, garlic, herbs)
ive called phở mid but while eating this i was like huh this is good actually then my dad says this time he simmered chicken bones for hours like he's supposed to instead of using canned broth
Tumblr media
improvised bĂșn thịt nướng (rice noodle bowl with chopped grilled pork, egg roll, veggies, crushed peanuts, fish sauce)
a way to deal with leftover noodles from gỏi cuốn
every time i eat this i think of the time me and pizza man were in new orleans and he asked if i wanted to eat at a viet place and i was surprised cause he's not really into a lot of viet food but anyway i got bĂșn thịt nướng
Tumblr media
thịt kho (pork with eggs braised in sticky savory caramel of sugar, fish sauce, coconut water)
i have distinct flashbacks of being in the middle school cafeteria with my thịt kho and kids around me going "what is that??", "ewwww" lol
Tumblr media
chĂĄo (rice porridge with chicken or a white meat fish- often served with crunchy cabbage salad)
my dad likes it with youtiao (chinese donuts)
being sick means eating this! but we also eat it a lot when we’re not sick!
when my mom was young she would say yes to any dude that asked her out and order an obscene amount of food/the most expensive things on the menu and never hear from them again but my dad took her to a chĂĄo place cause that was his favorite but apparently for cheapskates
he proposed two weeks later and she said yes
my mom is such a menace i wanna be just like her

noorie my love i have a question ☝(i am dying of extreme boredom and plagued by the fact that i’m not doing my chinese homework which is lying right in front of me)
how does a typical meal in your household look like? (for example, mine would look like rice with common dishes, usually consisting of stir fried vegetables, either chicken or pork, and some sort of egg dish, with soup/broth at the end to wash it down.)
that is all. adios
Hello hello cristie!
NOt doing homework is so real. (in the last year of high school and absolutely doomed I’ve been yelled at so much this summer I can’t take it anymore. ANways
)
Meals in our household!
(We’ve eaten out a lot this past month for our collective sanity as we've seen around 100 houses anyways-)
Usually rice (obviously rice, always rice, I love rice it’s a safe food) with something like dhaal or salaan. (if I spell anything wrong it’s because I live in the grand ol’ USA I apologize). I’m usually the one cutting the onions and garlic whereas my sibling makes the rice. Usually dhaal has eggs with extra onions to put on top. And I like the soupy salaans where I can have the most ridiculous soupy-to rice ratio ever.
(Also I have issues eating things and soupy things with rice and/or vegetables are always good and I pretty much can’t eat anything else that well so it works out. yayay)
I love palak paneer tho. My mom and sibling made it once I love it.
Oh the other day my mom make chickpeas with potatos and some dosa and akljfdasklfjaskld. I like rices better than ones with naans or bread-like things because I can’t let things sit on my hands for too long if I can’t go to wash it off ever two minutes. (Especially at restraunts I despise having to wipe things off of my hands with napkins and having them sticky or messy for longer than a few minutes. It drives me insane. At home it’s okay-ish
especially if it’s with chickpeas I’d kill a person for chickpeas)
I think my favorite homecooked meal thing is chickpeas. I looooveee chickpeas. Sometimes I wash the chickpeas and snack on them beforehand. There’s usually meats in salaans but tbh I try to stay away from meats when I can. And we don't eat pork for religious reasons. (It's fun when the people at restraunts may or may not care about keeping pork out/disclosing that there is pork. Another reason why I like sticking to veggi things ayayyaya.)
IDK little me went on that whole ‘save the animals’ thing and nowadays meat just tastes weird to me IDK. (Okay I’ve choked on them a lot there’s that too but once I choked on tofu and I lovee tofu and I kept choking on oranges and continued to eat them so IDK my brain is weird) Also I like veggis so there's that.
Cleaning is ew though. General cleaning with everyone else is too loud I can’t hear my rain sounds. Me personally I’ll gladly clean the whole kitchen (and have) when I’m alone and can use it as ‘daydreaming time’. Also it’s definitely an improvement nowadays from the time in a previous move where the kitchen was out of commission for
months. SO we lived upstairs, which had one of those barely-working tiny sinks. It would get clogged up a lot and my mom yelled at me once that if I clogged it up again [insert general threat here brain isn’t telling me what exactly she said]. So the better option was to pile all the dishes onto a tray and make a trek to one of those jurassic park style sprial staircases that isn’t used to the weight because it would shake around. Then I would wash the dishes in the mudroom (newly renovated after the flood!), pile them back on the tray, and take them upstairs.

anyways thank you for the ask! It’s fun answering these ones because I get to randomly talk about the crazy childhood of moving 4+ times. (and only now I’m figuring out my neurodivergent brain didn’t like that crazy.)

Southeast Asian Cuisine: Culinary Delights
Let’s go on a journey through Southeast Asian Cuisine, where each dish tells a story of tradition and flavor. This guide unveils the culinary treasures of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and beyond. Southeast Asia serves hundreds of culinary delights for those wanting to try new foods and experience different tastes. Exploring the diverse cuisine in Southeast Asia allows people to better understand the history and people of the region. So, if you’re considering visiting the area any time soon, there are certain dishes you certainly will want to take advantage of! Let’s jump in and look at the highlights of some of the essential dishes in the region.
A Foodie’s Journey Through Southeast Asian Cuisine
Tumblr media
Indonesia
Indonesian cuisine is less famous than other regions like Thailand or China internationally (a situation the Economist attributes to varying factors like politics and prejudice). But there are incredible dishes using rich, flavorful ingredients and spices. An Indonesian staple is rice. It may be served steamed, slightly cooked, or wrapped in leaves. Other popular foods include soup, noodles, and dishes like Nasi Goreng and Rendang.
Tumblr media
Rendang is a traditional Indonesian dish originating from Padang. It consists of tenderized beef marinated in coconut milk and traditional species. It certainly is a favorite among people visiting the region. Other notable mentions include satay lilit in Bali. This is a grilled minced meat dish seasoned with chili, lime, and lemongrass. Siomay, a street snack consisting of fish dumplings, sliced potatoes, cabbage, and tofu, topped with a tasty peanut sauce is also great.
The Philippines
Filipino cuisine is more like a fusion of various cultures and influences from Malay, China, and Spain. Some of the more popular choices for those visiting the region include Lechon (roast pig), a staple in Cebu. Don’t miss out on chicken inasal (a charcoal-grilled chicken dish). If you have the chance, enjoy the authentic version in Bacolod. Other tasty meals include adobo (which is marinated meat), and morcon (made from beef, poor, sausages, onions and eggs).
Tumblr media
If you’re visiting Davao, take advantage of the opportunities to try durian. There’s also numerous varieties of durian fruit (consisting of candies, cake, flavored coffee, and more). If you are looking for a new taste sensation, the Philippines is definitely the right choice for you.
Southeast Asian Cuisine – Thailand
The history of Thai food interweaves ingredients and cooking methods from various cultures. The result is a culinary experience that attracts people from around the world. If you’re looking to participate in it, Thai street food is a perfect choice. While visiting, definitely don’t miss out on the roadside stalls where you can try out some delicious options like moo ping (grilled pork), tom yum goong (hot and sour shrimp), Khao man gai (chicken and rice), Khao niao mamuang (sticky rice), grilled skewers and Pad Thai. Head out early in the morning if you want a comforting bowl of jok, a rice porridge featuring pork topped with ginger and onions. Street food allows for a truly immersive experience for those visiting Thailand and wanting to get a unique taste of their culture.
Tumblr media
If you want to explore Thailand, remember that each city and region features something unique. In Chiang Mai, stop and enjoy Khao Soi, a curry soup made with coconut milk served over egg noodles and topped with layered crispy fried noodles. Heading to Northeastern Thailand? Try Som Tam, a mash of tasty vegetables, Larb, and Nam Toke, and salads of meat, rice, lime, and fish sauce. Staying in the central region of Thailand? Well, many describe Bangkok as a “”food lover’s paradise, ” so don’t miss out on everything the city has to offer. If you’re heading South to the beautiful islands, try Sataw (prawns with a unique flavor), Massaman curry, or Khua Kling.
Vietnam
Southeast Asian Cuisine and Vietnam! If you’re traveling in Vietnam, you’ll encounter a range of dishes and flavors that change from North to South. Those in Sagon enjoy bánh xùo (crispy pancakes) rolled with greens and dipped in sweet-and-sour fish sauce, while Hai An Cao Lau noodles are a popular snack. Don’t miss out on the fantastic street food options like banh mi (a sandwich featuring pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, pork belly, pork floss, and cucumber) or pho (featuring flat rice noodles with beef or chicken cooked in a hearty stock, spiced with clove, and cinnamon and anise).
Tumblr media
BĂĄnh XĂšo, emerging from the Mekong Delta and popular in south and central Vietnam, features a batter made from coconut milk and rice. The filling contains pork, bean sprouts, and shrimp. If you still have room, try Che, a dessert sometimes served hot or cold and topped with fruits like bananas and longan. The unique combination of sauces, herbs, and spices creates a memorable experience that captures Vietnamese cuisine.
Singapore
We have to talk about Singapore if we are talking about Southeast Asian Cuisine. Singapore’s cuisine combines influences from China, Malay, and India. Some staples include Hainanese chicken rice and chili crab. Suppose you’re looking to check out some fine dining. In that case, several Michelin-star regional restaurants offer a promising taste sensation.
Tumblr media
Laos
Laos’ amazing scenery and deep cultural legacy makes it a popular choice. The food is also worth trying out. Laotian cuisine is not as well known in the West. The dishes may seem simple, but it’s quite flavorful, frequently combining fermented pork and fish with chilies and fresh herbs (think mint, cilantro, makrut lime leaf, ginger, garlic, etc.).
Tumblr media
Cambodia
When we talk about Southeast Asian Cuisine, we have to talk about Cambodia. The use of different herbs and spices, together with the addition of tropical fruits from the area, define the cuisine. The region’s most popular dishes include lok lak, a stir-fried beef dish; fish amok, which is fish made with banana leaves; and amok, a stew made with kroeung and fresh coconut milk. The cuisine of the area combines a variety of tastes, from spicy to sweet, to produce a flavor profile that is sure to please. You might want to try kangkep baob if you’re feeling more daring. It’s a frog that’s been roasted over hot coals packed with peanuts, chiles, pork, and different spices like garlic and lemongrass.
Tumblr media
