In the article "Shoot While Moving vs. Move Then Shoot" from The Armory Life, veteran police trainer Mike Boyle discusses the complexities of real-world armed encounters compared to traditional firearm training. Boyle emphasizes the importance of incorporating movement into shooting training, as both the shooter and threat are likely to be moving during a real-life confrontation. The article explores whether one should shoot while moving or focus on moving first and then shooting, suggesting that certain situations may require each approach. Boyle shares his experiences with movement training and emphasizes the necessity for practical, safe practice that prepares individuals for dynamic scenarios. He concludes by advocating for the inclusion of movement in training regimens to gain an advantage in potential armed encounters.

in desperate need of a superhero who has every conceivable superpower...but isn't "overpowered" bc they're mediocre at everything. flight? i mean yeah they can fly. with all the grace of a drunken butterfly, bumping into multiple surfaces in the process, but yeah technically they're flying. super strength? sure with super butterfingers built-in, but it counts. laser eyes but their aim's for shit. they've saved the world as many times as they've endangered it by making a bad situation worse. the "good guys" and "bad guys" are equally apprehensive of having this person on their team

i know it's been a hot minute, but i'm hoping to start posting again soon ❤️ honestly a big stumbling block is that i haven't found a good photo editor on linux yet. i've had to manually transfer my screenshots between linux & my windows installation so i can crop and sharpen them in photoshop and even though that's part of my normal process... transferring the files just adds so much extra time that it makes me lose steam.
i wish i could beam the screenshots from my head directly to tumblr >:|

The article "Can You Make a Sub-1-Second Shot?" by Jeremy Tremp explores the challenges and skills necessary to quickly and accurately draw and shoot a concealed weapon in high-pressure situations. Emphasizing the importance of regular practice, Tremp compares this necessity to the rigorous training of athletes, using Michael Jordan as an example. The article examines factors like holster choice and carry position, discussing Tremp’s own use of a Bravo Concealment Torsion 3.0 holster with a Springfield Hellcat. Throughout, Tremp underscores the significance of understanding one’s firearm capabilities for effective self-defense, culminating in his own practice results, achieving a draw speed of 1.5 seconds. The article encourages continuous practice for preparedness and effective response in potential emergencies.

Hypothetical shibari/ropeplay ideas you could hypothetically put boat guys in
Everything except actual sex under the cut
Feel free to take them-
Tie one of his legs to his chair until he finishes writing a set task. Just leave him there forced to work and wait for the rigger’s approval
Tired? Need help with keeping proper posture? What about a wearable chest harness with knots strategically placed along the spine, maybe even with an added small board to keep him straight, mmmh? It would barely be noticeable under all those layers anyways…
The mermaid leg tie. Like this one. -I just think it’s pretty-
Tumblr media
Fisherman’s harness -also just really pretty-
Tumblr media
Suspension play: there’s not much place for anchors in the cabin themselves- you have the base of the lamps, and the way the beams are set up in the show imply a gap in the corners where you can set up your columns.
Tumblr media
Otherwise, everywhere they put up hammocks would have strong anchors already on- there’s a good chance new ones could be set in supporting beams
If you’re on a moving ship: a full suspension will make his weight shifts into the tied points- if there’s a lot of them, in a deep pressure gentle rocking way, but the fewer there are the more concentrated his weight will be, bringing it more in a « my limbs are being wrenched out of their sockets territory (also fun), and the location of the tension will switch up
If they’re on landlocked Terror: partial suspension with multiples uplines where he could keep part of his body on the floor, but would have to keep fighting against the angle of the ship to stay comfortable (ex: simple harness across the upper chest with one upline, folded leg tie with another upline tied to the same anchor leaving his other leg barely touching the ground)
Bonus: type of ropes
Cordage would have been mostly hemp ropes (from here) …. They probably wouldn’t have other options, but my heart says cotton rope too to give them more options (couldn’t find a reference for it)
Comparison from ropestudy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last, more farfetched but not impossible option would be coconut rope: very rough, considered a torture rope 🥰 they could have picked it up in Oahu or something. For reasons. The rigger would probably have to wear gloves that’s how abrasive it is
If they want to avoid rope burns and reduce bruises, they could do it on top of clothes- it would be pretty easy to cover up in any case with, again, all the layers they have on
