The Fentons.

A family of scientists previously laughed out of the community before their children proved their studies true.

Well, somewhat.

The Fenton kids were remarkably different from their parents, their fields of degrees seemingly completely unrelated to their parents and their studies, but had been the ones to right their parents' previous biases and make their ecto discoveries public knowledge.

Before their kids had gone off to college, the Fentons had been studying 'ghosts' and how they were non-sentient and non-sapient. Before their kids growing into adults, their papers were downright prejudiced, dehumanizing, and objectifying towards ecto-entities. However, when Dr. Jasmine Fenton came back from college with a psychology doctorate and Daniel Fenton had went off on scholarship to get an engineering degree, their studies seemed to go 180 after months of silence.

Apparently, with their daughter knowing as much as she did now that she was back home, she got her parents to hold back on their studies while she performed her own, fascinated by the 'ghosts' behaviors.

Soon after, their son had admitted to secretly helping out the town vigilante since the beginning, and had begun telling his family of what he had learned about ecto-entities based on his friendship with the hero alone.

The Fentons amount of studies increased just as much as the validity of their new studies.

However, due to the blackout a corrupt government agency had enforced on their home town, the world was left in the unknown until the GIW was absolutely obliterated by the King of Ghosts. Nobody who was there to see the king had lived to describe him, but the appearance of a whole new city filled with what appeared to be aliens had distracted the world from that.

Noticing the attention of the whole country, Daniel had decided to act and had gotten many of his community to share his families papers as much as possible to protect the living and dead alike.

Over time, his family's fame grew and grew, with Daniel's personal connections, Jasmine's knowledge, and their parents' professionalism not unlike Brucie's, it seemed inevitable.

The family had begun traveling the country once it mostly calmed down, searching for any other natural portals that could have brought ecto-entities to their world. They helped.

With the fame for their ecto studies though, the Fenton children had released other papers that helped.

Jasmine, many, many psychological papers for children, criminals, everyday people, Daniel engineering what others thought impossible, creating the unthinkable, nobody able to replicate what hes created like he has...

They were famous. Successful. Perfect.

And had no idea how to deal with it, so didn't.

There were no interviews, no knowledge on any of them personally other than the schools they went to and Daniel's connection to the Mansons and his parents connection with Vlad Masters.

They were famous, successful, Perfect.

It was suspicious.

Tim watched as the family walked into the manor's ballroom. They were skeptical if they would show but Tim made a show of inviting Masters and Manson as well, the party almost specifically for the Fenton family and centered around international science and teaching it to young children.

It was Tim and Cass's job to watch the younger Fentons, Dick and Bruce's to watch the parents.

Jack Fenton had walked in proudly and loudly- and wow, that man is brick wall big, what the fuck?- suit bright orange with white stripes, his wife wearing a slim teal dress with a suit jacket over it and smiling around politely, but clearly excited.

Their kids walked in after them, and Tim subtly started to make his way over.

Daniel had come with a dark navy suit, the color making him easy to blend in in the suit filled room. However, he was much shorter than anyone else in the color, and he had paired the suit with green highlights so vibrant they could've been mistaken for Lazarus.

Jasmine stayed nearby him at all times, the two having separated from their parents since they walked in after a quick goodbye. She was wearing a nice dark green dress that fell over her knees and glared at anyone that looked at her and her brother for longer than a glance. Her hair was braided and her boots went up to her knees, but with her height they were practically the size of a small child.

Jeez... maybe Tim can stuff Damian in those shoes by getting him to provoke the woman.

Tim made his way over to the siblings, careful to be casual with it.

He had a mission to complete.

Hear me out: Savage Raph as a metaphor for repressed anger.

Because it's like: Raph spent so much of his life knowing that he could hurt someone if he got angry, that he had to restrain himself even in the most emotional moments, or he could be a danger to his own brothers. He couldn't let himself fully express his anger, not until he was alone.

Then the whole hero thing got started, and Raph started to build up a moral code. We see through the whole movie that he takes the hero role very seriously, putting in all his effort to protect others. Again, Raph couldn't let his anger win over, because it would go against his one goal of keeping others safe. Again, he couldn't let himself express his anger until he was alone.

But then, the instant Raph is alone, the instant he doesn't have to worry about hurting others, there's nothing to stop all that anger from bubbling up, from overwhelming all of Raph's other emotions all at once. Then, once the anger has got the best of him, that's when Savage Raph able to turn on his brothers; after he already got to his most emotional point.

Just. Savage Raph being something that goes against all of Raph's values. Anger being something that goes against Raph's values. All that anger building up over time, until it all boils over, during the only times when Raph isn't faced with the overwhelming fear of hurting someone else- the times when there's no one around for Raph to hurt.

Raph hates this of course. Savage Raph goes against everything Raph tries to be. And by extension, Raph starts to hate being alone too. He starts gettting anxious when he's by himself in the lair. Raph needs to be around someone at all times, because if he is ever really alone, he will lose control of his emotions; and for Raph, that's the same thing as losing control of himself.

Steve took care of Eddie's hair from the first moment he was in a hospital bed, Eddie was in a coma with deep wounds that were struggling to close. He removed all the dried blood from Eddie's hair as soon as the doctors gave him permission. He had no urgency to go home, so he stayed that night to comb Eddie's hair as much as the pillow would allow.

Steve didn't know how to touch Eddie. He didn't want to hurt him, Steve didn't know how to touch people, much less another boy his age.

When Eddie woke up, he didn't hug him like the others did. He just waited patiently in a corner for the moment when Eddie could get out of bed and offered to wash his hair. Eddie agreed.

He teased Steve about all the stuff he wears in his hair, but Steve could see in his big brown eyes that he was grateful.

Steve bought a lot of special products for Eddie's hair, Eddie didn't want to accept them at first, but eventually, he did. Soon, that hair routine kept them together.

Steve kept touching Eddie's hair to remind him that he was alive. Eddie let him, let Steve brush and wash his hair, but also let him just play with his curls. Steve felt less anxious as his hands disappeared into Eddie's hair.

When they were hanging out with the others, Steve was likely to be combing Eddie's hair. Eventually Eddie would be the one seeking that contact, he would lay his head on Steve's lap and he would give long caresses to Eddie's scalp, fit his fingernails in gently and drag them to the end of a lock of hair.

When they kissed for the first time, Eddie held the back of Steve's neck firmly and could feel his hair for the first time, Eddie felt like he could die there. He spent hours sitting on Steve's lap stroking his hair as they kissed and whispered to each other's lips.

"I love you," Eddie whispered,

"I love you more," Steve replied with a smile before stealing another kiss from Eddie.

Outside, they discreetly ruffled each other's hair to show their love in public without being punished. At first glance, it looked like a friendly gesture, but if you looked closely, you could see two boys very, very much in love.

Steve soon discovered that he loved to pull Eddie's hair when Eddie made love to him. He would ride him and would look for balance in Eddie's beautiful, messy curls. He would pull his hair to demand a kiss, to see his face, to see Eddie's beautiful eyes lost in pleasure, to watch him lick his lips, savouring Steve's every move.

Thinking about Percy’s relationship with the Underworld children in comparison to his relationships with the sky children and how it all relates to the hierarchy and experiences Percy has been through.

Now, first of all, Percy is the victim of bullying at home and in school. His bully at home is Gabe and then he has all these bullies at school that pick on him and the other “weird kids” and Percy takes some of the other “weird kids” under his wing and protects them - like Grover and Tyson. Grover because of his crutches and disability and Tyson because of his mental delay and disability.

Percy takes those who can’t protect themselves as well as Percy can protect himself and he protects them from their bullies. Because no one protected him at home - no one was really there to see the abuse, granted, especially because Percy never made it known to his mom that we can tell from the canon material but even if Sally knew of the arguments Gabe and Percy got into, she never left him because she knew he needed Gabe’s scent to keep him safe, but from his pov that might be his mom failing to step in and protect him.

And so he’s not comfortable at home and prefers to be with his mom alone at Montauk. But my point is he doesn’t feel like he belongs at home with Gabe. Then he makes either one or no friends at his schools and then is bullied and blamed for everything before getting kicked out. He never has a place to call his own, to feel as if he belongs. He knows what it is to be judges and to be discarded and deemed unworthy.

And then he arrives at camp full of other kids like him. And while he’s unclaimed, he feels as if he finally finds a place he belongs and begins to make more friends. Then he’s claimed and shoved into a cabin all alone and avoided by all of camp besides Luke, Annabeth, Grover, and Chiron (from what I can remember and even then I’m pretty sure I recall a line about Annabeth barely tolerating his existence because she would always look at him as if he were stupid before ignoring him entirely or something along those lines correct me if I’m wrong).

So he finally finds a place he belongs only that no he really hasn’t because no one wants to touch him with a ten foot pole after being claimed. And then he completes a quest and is welcomed back with open arms - finding his place again. Only for next summer to roll around and Tyson is claimed as his brother as he is once again cast aside by camp for having a monster for a brother.

Then Thalia to comes back and take his place and is then respected and revered after a few months, taken under Chiron’s wing and trained personally by him and looked to for guidance by Annabeth and Grover and just completely respected and idolized despite the fact that she never even made it to camp and never completed a quest - she was just a child of Zeus.

So his place is toppled once more and he has to find where he belongs again. But then Thalia joins the Hunters and he settles back in to his position as sort of “leader” within camp. And he rides that position into war, working his ass off to prove time and time again that he can be trusted and respected like Thalia was.

NOW bringing in the children of the Underworld. Percy and Bianca clashed a bit in the beginning because of the Hunter thing but got over that pretty quick and Percy was somewhat protective of her in the sense that he cared deeply about what she was going through, and promising Nico to look out for her. See: the conversation on the porch of that one shop in New Mexico, Percy’s reluctance to let her go forward with his plan, the multiple lines of Percy blaming himself/saying it should’ve been him instead.

Percy and Nico have an admittedly rocky relationship with the whole Bianca thing and then Nico’s repressed gay crush on him, but they truly did care about each other and I’m sick of the animosity people insist is between them lol. Percy was always protective of Nico (though you only see that after the quest when Annabeth is back safe and sound and his mental state has recovered lmfao) and he took on the prophecy to protect him, everything Percy did was to protect Nico from the traumas of the godly world as best he could. Trying to get Nico to run from the skeletons, searching in the woods for him for hours, claiming the prophecy as his own and hid his identity from the Olympians and Chiron to keep him safe. And thats just in The Titan’s Curse.

Percy and Hazel have the most wholesome relationship out of the three, I will say. Percy is immediately protective of Hazel when he sees Octavian blackmailing and threatening her for her vote for praetor and he grips Riptide in preparation for a fight, reassuring her she wasn’t like Phineas, their conversation in Alaska where they both reassure each other :(( aww I love them sm okay okay let me move on.

Anyways, Percy always takes the Underworld kids under his wing just like he did Grover and Tyson, protecting them and looking out for them as best he can from those who would harm them whether it be bullies like Nancy or Mark or Octavian to prophecies and death. In comparison to his relationships with Thalia and Jason where they clash horribly before finding middle ground and becoming friends eventually.

And then the hierarchy between the big three kids where children of Hades/Pluto were always avoided like the plague and feared and seen as a bad omen and can work their asses off and fight endlessly for camp but will still only be seen as children of H/P by most. While children of Poseidon/Neptune make people wary but dont bring respect. I think theres also a hint of fear because of how powerful and temperamental P/N is and how that could transfer over along with P/N being known as the “father of monsters”. And Percy has to work his ass off to prove himself time and time again before being trusted and looked up to the way Percy is. And then theres children of Zeus/Jupiter who are completely and immediately revered and respected whether or not they’ve done anything of note simply because of who their father is.

Anyways all this yapping to say that Percy definitely sees himself in the Underworld kids and takes them under his wing to protect them as best he can while simultaneously arguing and fighting with children of Z/J because he sees his bullies in them simply from the hierarchy and power imbalance between the cousins (“power imbalance” being used loosely here). This is also no Thalia or Jason hate btw,, just character study I guess. I love Thalia and Jason is. There. I guess. (Kidding. He’s a cool character and concept but def not my fav lol)

the goat (demon) being an abusive relationship that to you who is in it only sees a nice perfect person doing anything for you, only for things to slowly get worse and worse… leading to SA (it’s not actual SA but the imagery has subtle implications of it) and other forms of physical and psychological abuse.

this leaving mithrun in an intense state of depression, ptsd and other issues like getting mana sickness really easily, which is also connected to the physical disabilities he got from said abuse. and due to these states he finds he can not desire anything anymore, he can only feel empty, not even a desire to get help and only feels a strong anger to the person and tries to prevent anyone else from going through the same.

but he’s not a lost cause.

he blames himself for his trauma, he sees himself as worthless and not one to be desired anymore because of what he went through. and realizing this, realizing that he actually has grown a desire to BE desired even just in a simple way to be needed (helping with falin) he finally can crack through that depression. the ptsd is still there, the physical disabilities are still there, but through surrounding himself with community of people with different views and trauma has helped him realize he is not broken and shouldn’t be blaming himself for something that was out of his control.

he wants to do new things, he wants to live now and it’s so beautiful to see.

plus, as kabru says here how the desires being eaten is not what it seems like is such an interesting fact. sure the demon ate his desires he had in that moment, making him believe he could never desire again but in fact he could get new desires (change/grow/heal) plus, traveling with kabru, he did show desires whether they be small or not.

in this moment he showed full horror about this memory. now if he was loss of desire, then he shouldn’t even desire to feel fear about this right? shouldn’t he only feel anger due to the revenge? which once again, shows his whole healing journey.

he’s such a great character with so much representation, and in turn is also a character that can show hope for someone like thistle who now is going through similar things and is practically hospitalized.

there is hope, you will heal, you are gonna be okay and your trauma is real but it does not shape you as a person, you are safe now.

I honestly think this episode was meant to be confusing in a sort of Alice-in-Wonderland-ish way, where the loose ends won't/aren't meant to be tied up later. It's confusing and random, but that's the point.

Kate tells Ruby, "It's what we all do. We see something inexplicable and invent the rules to make it work."

And I think that might be exactly what Ruby does. Stick with me PLEASE

The premise of the episode opens with a superstition: a fairy circle. Something surrounded by stories and myths that don't necessarily make sense, and yet many people form their entire lifestyles around these belief systems because they explain the unexplainable for them.

The woman that follows Ruby appears to chase people away from her, or convince them to abandon her, which is clearly a common theme within Ruby as a character. She's afraid of being abandoned.

Typically breaking a superstition means that you're going to suffer some sort of misfortune as a result, right? If you were to break a superstition that you believed in (ie. ruining a fairy circle), what misfortune would you fear most happening to you? For Ruby, it probably centers around her fear of abandonment.

We know that Ruby is supernatural in some way. She's definitely not a typical human. She can make it snow on command? Who's to say that the "silly little explanations" that she makes up to make sense of her unknown don't ACTUALLY come to fruition. What if she has the power to do that?

So, let start from the beginning. Ruby and the Doctor break a fairy circle, an action which culturally means bad luck. In Ruby's mind, her worst luck would be to be abandoned by everyone, and to never find her birth mother in the end. And that's exactly what happens.

Roger Ap William is a name mentioned by the Doctor in the first couple of minutes of 73 yards. The only information that is given is that he was evil, welsh, and almost brought the world to nuclear destruction. That's all Ruby knows. Mad Jack appears at first to be some arbitrary name Ruby reads on a piece of paper, but is later revealed to literally be Roger Ap William? How coincidental is that? I don't think that Roger and Mad Jack are actually the same person. In fact, Mad Jack probably WAS just someone's dog. They were just two names that Ruby had recently heard, and then drew an imaginary line between. To further the point, Roger is SUCH a caricature. His only three personality traits are quite literally evil, welsh, and likes nukes, which is all the Ruby knew about him.

Throughout the episode Ruby finds herself in a situation that doesn't make sense, so she comes up with her own explanations to make them make sense. She invents her own rules and her own mission. She comes up with a string of tasks that aren't logical to us, but it's the explanation she has come up with given the information that she had. She's convinced herself that it makes sense. She starts to form her lifestyle around a belief system that she created because it explains the supernatural she is experiencing.

And because of whatever supernatural abilities surround her, she's actually making her percepetion of reality the REAL reality.

(Edit: Not to mention that superstitions have been a common theme this season (ie. 14 invoking that salt superstition in WBY kicked off this season's entire plot) AND WBY is the first case in which we see Susan Twist as well...

It all leads back to that moment.)

You know how Nightmare canonically has had three different Killers over the years? I like to headcanon that fanon Nightmare also had three Killers and it just shows his progression.

Like, the first Killer he found was when he was still very much hateful of everything after the incident, and so he doesn’t really care exactly what happens to him (like in Underverse), and that is what eventually leads to the first Killers death.

The second Killer he was more strict with, realizing he “wasted potential”. But that drives this Killer to run off with Color and get his happy ending and escapes like in the comics.

And lastly the third Killer that we know and love is when Nightmare finally figures out that if he wants loyalty he actually has to SOMEWHAT take care of them. This is when Nightmare starts to view him less like a tool that needs taken care of and more like an individual. He had his mess ups, but Nightmare starts to actually CARE about Killer. And realizing how much he needs him around causes him to steadily build up the Bad Sanses to what we know and love today.

Don’t get me wrong, I really love the idea of him immediately saving Killer and then learning together… but I also like the concept that it takes time, and Nightmare was FAR from in the perfect mindset after the incident. I also am a sucker for angst. I also like to imagine he tries to make amends with the second Killer when he realizes how wrong he was… but I think I’ve rambled enough… Anyways! I think a lot of us are like that. I know I am. I’m not the child and teenager I used to be. Shit, I’m not even the person I was in college. I mean, I’m an evolution of that person. Things happened and they changed me, and now I have to let that person go. I have to accept that I’m different now. I’m also not who I could’ve been if everything had gone right, or wrong, or somehow entirely differently than it did. I’m not who I wish I was, or someone who will never disappoint the people I love with who I’ve become. If I’m entirely honest, I don’t really know so much about myself.

I think it’s often easier to grasp onto a version of ourselves we understand. If you can tell yourself ‘this is me,’ that means you know why and how you feel the way you feel or do what you do. The downside is that it can feel like betraying your identity when you can’t live up to that idea.

Rick is a person. He’s not good or bad. He’s not a god. He’s not an idea.

He’s a person, even before he’s a Rick.

His parents turned him into the G.I.W hands after they found out they wanted them to “Fix” him and what good that did all he has from that place is scars and the memories after one of them was trying transport him to a different room when they thought he was out for the count, news flash he wasn’t he broke free of his restraints with a wail he had left and fled and kept flying until he found a natural portal and as he went through he closed it from the other side

As he looks around he noticed that instead of the random floating islands and green sky he was expecting he saw a large room with large mirrors that took up the wall and when he looked up he saw a picture of a part of space no living thing has ever been [and probably never will be]

That’s when he realized that wasn’t a natural portal when he comes to the realization he hears foot steps behind him as he turns he comes face to face with a tall woman wearing a long black rob over her body but the parts that were visible were a sickly green where her vines should be

She explains that she is The Lady of the mask and someone needs to take her place so when she saw him she chose him to take her place and take care of everything and gives him a black box with gold accents on it

And than she just leaves.

As Danny opens the box he sees a Gold mask with black accents with a note explaining what his new role is and what he has to do, he has to

God the fact that it was Fabian and Gorgug specifically that had that revelation of Kristen’s miracle work is sending me into a tailspin

There’s just something inexplicable and unspoken connecting these three together (that has nothing to do with them being my favorites uh nope) , like, how both Gorgug and Kristen died at the beginning of freshman year, in front of Fabian (twice no less, in Kristen’s case) who to me always seemed uniquely affected by it.
