I need to rant about a problem I have with Rise! Raph

… ok, that’s a bit misleading. I have no problems with him, but I absolutely do with how this fandom can treat him.

Namely, the flanderization of his character. Specifically the part about him being the nicest iteration of Raph, because I see SO MANY people make him out to be the nicest softest most UwU-est boy when ITS ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE GODAMMIT AND IM TIRED OF IT.

HES ROWDY. HE LIKES FIGHTING. HE TRIED TO LIFT UP A BUS AND HE STILL. HAS. ANGER ISSUES!! HES JUST BETTER AT MANAGING THEM FOR FUCKS SAKE.

Please. I’m so tired of people acting like he never gets upset or angry and is the nicest person to ever exist in this godamn franchise.

Because yes, he is nice! And I love that about him, but some people are so extreme about his softness I’m going to blow a fuse if I see more of it.

Stop contributing to the flanderization of characters, guys. I love his kindness as much as anyone else but it’s NOT HIS ONLY TRAIT.

This won’t be getting a lick of attention but I just had to say it.

I don’t claim to know Raph better than anyone else, of course. But some people for sure don’t know him! And I won’t apologize for saying that because I’ve noticed mischaracterization is a huge problem for this fan base, and I think everyone should take a moment and reflect on how they portray these characters.

DISASTER TWINS ROTTMNT RANT :3

One thing I surprisingly really dislike about the rise canon is the fact that Donnie is most likely the medic of the group. He’s shown an interest in the field and even has experience seeing as he subcutaneously places trackers in his brothers sometime between the movie and the show. I suppose it makes sense that the smartest turtle, Donnie, would be the medic.

BUT the fanon interpretation is really just so much better!! There are so many reasons Leo being the medic of the group makes so much more sense. For one, engineering and medicine are two completely different fields of study!! Sure, maybe Donnie could dabble in both, but he’s far too skilled at engineering for me to believe he also does medicine on the side. I’d trust Mark Rober’s inventions and expertise with my life, but I would not let him perform surgery on me or give me a medical diagnosis.

It also gives Leo something to do other than be the face man! Yeah he takes great pride in it, but that surely can’t be all he was good for right? He has multiple smart moments in the show, I’m confident he’s fully able to learn complex things such as mutant turtle anatomy and how to fix it if anything goes wrong. He rewired Shelldon in his debut episode! Like I said, engineering and medicine are different, but you can’t be dumb if you can do that without any practice. It also gives his little satchel on his hip a purpose. Why is it there? Maybe a little first aid kit or something. The brothers have to get hurt a lot on their missions right?

It also adds another difference between rise and other tmnt iterations. Now take this with a grain of salt as I haven’t seen many other iterations, but i think the biggest thing is it differentiates it from 2012 even more. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never had a problem with 2012 Donnie being the medic of the group, but it doesn’t hurt to change things a little more realistically right? Yeah 2012 Leo was busy with older brother and leader responsibilities, but rise Leo wasn’t. And I think rise Leo is very capable of being the leader and the medic.

That is my essay on why I strongly believe the headcanon of Leo being the medic makes the most sense logically, more so than the probable canon. Thank you for reading <3

Since the bros keep everything attached to their bodies like their vocal cords, do they swap neurodivergencies too or to those follow their brains to the respective host?

I like the idea of them keeping their respective neurodivergencies, even though the other way around has potential. So Donnie is still autistic, Raph still has anxiety/anger issues, Mikey and Leo still have their own brands of ADHD, etc, but now they have to learn to adapt their habits to completely different bodies.

Like imagine Raph getting angry (or even going savage) in Donnie's body; any other day, Donnie getting angry would be intimidating, but they all know Raph has zero clue how to do any kind of strong-arming in his body and it's hilarious

Or Mikey being a bull in a china shop with his off-the-wall energy and impulsivity combined with Raph's size/strength. He would quickly realize being the biggest ain't all it's cracked up to be, especially when he can't hold anything without snapping it into pieces the second he tightens his grip by accident

Leo would be in the same boat by taking full advantage of Mikey's mystic powers and officially becoming A Menace, but would find out just how physically/mentally taxing it can be. He would also be trying so many different battle moves now that he's in a smaller, more flexible, infinitely energetic body

Donnie would have the hardest time, having to deal with what I imagine would be a sensory nightmare. Everything he comes into contact with feels wrong because he's in the wrong body, but luckily the adjustment period wouldn't take too long before he could function somewhat normally (out of everyone he got the closest approximation to his old body, so that really helped).

Anyways, spoilers for the “Farwell” rise comic, so if you haven’t read it yet I advise you don’t read this yet !!!

Leo’s deal with Greif

After reading the comic, I came to a full realization just how much of a family oriented person Rise Leo truly is compared to the rest of the cast.

In the comic, we start out with Leo explaining his greif for splinter and how much he regrets not being able to say goodbye to him.

So he’s presented with an idea of going back in time to fix it and he takes up the offer!

He goes back to stop an event before it happens so that past him has the opportunity to say goodbye before it’s too late.

But since this is the good future where they stopped the krang, it brings the question of how much he was affected during the bad future when it was too late to stop the krang, leading to the apocalypse.

He lost both Donnie and Raph, along with Casey, April and Splinter in the process. It begs the questions on if he was able to say goodbye to most of them, or if he just had to sit by and grieve.

Did they die spontaneously? Could he even have talked to them? Could he have known they were about to die? And if they did die spontaneously, there’s no resources or time for him to be able to go back in time to save them or just say any final words; there’s no possible way for him to receive any closure.

These aren’t the only instances either, a couple of examples in the show actually show throw trait of him really well.

When big mama hosted an entire Battle Nexus in New York, she had announced raph had “died” and in this little bit, Leo was affected the most by it, just staring up at the screen and frozen until he’s snapped back into reality again.

Then during the Shredder finals in S2, when Karai died, he had such a compelling need to go to her and either try to help or just give her some sort of final “I love you”

+ to add to that, the detail of him hugging her foreshadowed what he was gonna feel. Cause he was about to leave before realizing that it was probably gonna be his final goodbye to her. That was probably more of a subconscious thought though.

He’s expressed many different times, either out loud or just by body language that he cannot do anything without his family. He needs his family to be able to function and he struggles with greif, knowing that once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

Does anyone know how Leo’s Ninpo really works? Like, during the finale of season 2, they all unlock their ninpo, and none of them really need their weapons anymore to activate it. Except for Leo. Raph can make himself bigger or clone himself whenever he wants, Donnie can make anything with his mind easily in the blink of an eye, and at the end of the rise movie, it doesn’t seem like Mikey needs his nunchucks anymore either, and probably hasn’t since the end of season 2.

but LEO is unable to teleport without his katanas, as seen when he gets trapped in the prison dimension. He can teleport with one if he needs to, but it seems like if he only has one, he can only teleport to the place where the second katana is. I’m like, maybe 79% sure that in the deleted version of the first part of the movie, future Leo is only seen creating portals with his sword. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)

and I’m currently sitting in bed, procrastinating sleep because I have to wake up early tomorrow and I’m stupid trying to figure out what’s up with that.

Are Leo’s katanas like Thor’s hammer that I can never remember the name of? Or like a wizard’s wand? Are they only used to channel his power so he can actually control it? What would happen if he tried to create a portal without his katanas? Would he lose control? Would there be some sort of consequence? In the movie, his swords have markings on them. If he were to carve those same markings on a different sword, would it work the same?

Or, is Leo’s Ninpo almost entirely (or completely) dependent on his katanas?

New prologue for little brother au came out! Im hyped so I’m gonna talk about it!

It’s been a hot minute since I made a post related to little brother au. Ive never done a “heres cool things Ive noticed in this chapter” Ive done similar stuff but not a full on break down of a chapter kind of post. For me personally I saw a lot of cool details that also led me to asking a lot of questions soooo here I am. Ok so where to start? The first cool thing I noticed when I was reading the newest chapter was this cool effect with the panels.

It looks like the rat kings tail and I just thought that was sick. Ive been wanting to make my own comic for a while and one of the things I struggle with is panel layouts so seeing cool panel stuff like this is just chefs kiss. 😘

Enouther thing that I thought was interesting was how the boys interact and treat yoshi. Went I was reading the post about the “Yoshi not really seeing them as his kids” my first thought was that they weren’t very close. But with the way leo reacted to yoshi going down and then later in the comic we get spot hugging yoshi like this makes me think that yes Yoshi may not have been as involved or as close to the turtles as Draxum was, but they still did care a lot about each other. It was a lot closer of a relationship then I initially thought at least.

It’s making me wonder what their dynamic was before he got sliced.

Ok this next one was really funny to me. When I was looking back at the chapter I got to this image and was like “wait where the hell did rat king get a chair in the flippin swears???”

“Does…does he like have it prepared on him for when he’s ready to talk down to and beat kids? Did he just manifest it into existence??? Dame I wonder what other things rat king is carrying under that rob? Maybe he can hook me up with a dinning room set or a mini fridge?”

…but then I took a closer look… and I just-

Their. Fucking. Rats!

I just I can’t. Rat chair? RAT CHAIR???? How are they even doing that?!? Ok I GUESS, I’m going to add animal abuse to his charges cause you can’t look at me and tell me this isn’t animal cruelty!

wait the guys are tenically animals to so I guess he was already committing animal abuse... Ok thats it! I’M OUT!!!!

This panel reminded me of that scene from stranger things went Will was frantically scribble on papers to make that guint map of the upside down, it was taped together and screwn across the intire floor and walls of Wills house. It just gave me that vibe idk.

The way Shark draws scared faces is really cool as well. It’s giving slight loony toons vibes to me for some reason as well as tales from the tmnt. It’s just really cool.

Again wtf rat king. How… how is your tail that long??? As somebody who has a fear of rats spisifically when it comes to their tails, I can speak for all of us when I say ewww. Raph’s right you are disgusting.

I thought it was a cool effect with all the eye in the fur. My guess is that it was just a cool look for show or it’s his rat possy helping him reach that menacing vibe check. Ether way its really cool and also made me relise that the purple is very vibrant compared to the more mute colors in the comic which helps it stand out a ton. Adding on to that stand out menacing tone. Really cool 👍

I also thought it was interesting how the creator draws leo’s markings. I’ve seen people give him extra yellow and red markerings before but I’ve never seen anyone draw Leo with a big yellow marking at the top like that. It looks cool. Donnie’s and Mikey’s markings are cool to and its interesting to see how their designs have avoled throughout the making of this comic. Like Raph’s some what resont new spikes at the top of the head or Donnies cheek markings.

Speaking of how things have evolved and changed in the comic, I think it’s interesting to see how the past has changed and differed over time. Some of the differences between the prologue and the memories could just be the creator slightly changing how they wanted to go about doing the prologue. It happens.

But my personal take on it is that since it was a traumatic event for spot and because of the fact that up till this point we have been only relying on present spots memories and thoughts of the events he was remembering certain things differently. This is the first time we are getting the full sober truth of what happened because at this point it’s still fresh in spots little mind. Or it could be that instead of seeing spots pov were gettIng more of a outsiders pov of the situation or smth.

rottmnt Aftermath comic Donnie analysis rant

so as any average person I went to watch the dub of the rottmnt aftermath movie comic and I want to talk about how beautiful written it is.

This post is not as beautiful written and is more rant like so my apologies

So when I first read this I had no idea why Donnie seized. I thought it was just something that happened. That was till it happened to a buddy of mine.

Note I may be wrong please I'm not a doctor also I'm not completely caught up so I might be wrong but so far my thoughts are this.this is just a rant on the writing and my personal experiences

context of my prior knowledge and experience

So to add some perspective. I broke my hip and I'm nerodivergent. I don't process properly. I went straight to talking the trainer through exactly what I felt and explained exactly what I thought it was wrong and what to do to help and exactly what I needed I went into what will be referred to as fix it mode. I didn't even feel pain at first. I couldn't walk and I knew something was very wrong so I start digging for any medical knowledge I know, my brain not calming not letting me rest until I fix it. Now when I let my adrenaline die, my mind process and leave fix it mode, when I actually allowed my self to RELAX (key word is relax) I finally felt pain and started ugly crying realizing I was no longer able to wrestle. A buddy of mine was in a tournament and they process pain same as I, only their body relaxed more, and they seized where as I did not. Their issue was different than mine they had exhaustion and got half suffocated in their match. Their alright don't worry. They are also nerodivergent same as I.

This may not be just a nerodivergent thing and there is always different cases, but so far I only know of this shut down pain, to fix issues, before enter shock, happening to nurodivergent people. I'm not a doctor or any kind of medical professional so don't quote me on anything this is just my ideas and how I'm connecting the dots feel free to politely correct me or share your experiences with dealing With pain. Or tell me your ideas about my analysis I'm always happy to hear. Please don't take this seriously I'm not trying to offend anyone or hurt anyone with this it's simply just my thoughts.

the analysis rant :)

To the analysis. Donnie as far as I know I believe has autism or is autism coded. He has a similar reaction as me and my buddy. He in the beginning was calm, collected , ignoring the pain or maybe not even feeling it in the moment. He sure, is in pain but he himself is not his main focus,he's in fix it mode.

He only shows pain when he gets overwhelmed and snaps. He's overstimulated and needs to leave as Leo tells him to care for himself. He pulls himself out of the situation. And when he gets bathed is when he actually focused on himself and his body. He for sure lost his adrenaline and he went into shock as he calmed and everything eased. He might have not even thought about himself but his mind might have just let his body realize it was injured then finally take action since his adrenaline was no longer going to keep his body from taking initiative. He had nothing keeping him on edge and fighting so now everything has time to catch up to him...

(I think. I am not a doctor)

... he then had a seizure after leaving the tub half passed out (sign of adrenaline leaving him and just simply exsaution) his blood no longer pumping his blood pressure lowering, and the blood loss probably taking it's toll. Not to mention he's probably been having adrenaline and high blood pressure the whole time.

He quite literally was performing medical attention on his half dead brother. Just saw Leo get pummeled and thought he died in what can best be described as an almost suicidal attempt to save his family. Whether Leo's attempt was not purposely suicidal or not. Donnie just saw his brother give his life to save him.

His blood pressure had to be undoubtedly high during all this stress. And now he's calm and it's finally going down and probably dropped so fast and tremendously lower than it was for the past hour. That may be a leading reason for the seizure in the comic.

(I think... still not a doc and not well educated in the medical field my mom and grandma do nursing though so I know my fair share I guess)

... and he was bleeding out so it's a big possibility and his blood pressure could have dropped. In this situation there can be a number of reasons.

reasons for current issues and things that can cause him more issues: adrenaline died out, calming, dehydration or low blood sugar, stress finally caught up with him, body shutting down to process, shock, bleeding out, pain, there is a number of things or something simpler such as exhaustion could be an underlying issue as well. Now these are possible not all true or right but it's just me thinking out loud

Also we dunno when he last ate and drank. Using all the mystic powers must take a huge toll on his body and controlling the krang ship with his body can't be good for him either. It's safe to assume he was physically exhausted and finally let his fix it mode mind set cease to exist in the moment and his body finally shut down. Everything coming at him and he seized.

He is clearly not as ok as he seemed in the beginning pages and the second question is how he could hold himself together and to that I say fix it mode ....oh and a shit ton of adrenaline. He can't rest till he fixes the issue. And I'm positive this guy's was still processing everything to the point he has yet to process his own body.

Now I don't know if the author knew this while writing but I like to believe they did and if so that is damn good writing and beautiful attention to detail.

I didn't really understand or connect with the reaction till I got injured and later I saw it happen to a buddy. Experiences change your perspectives it's bonkers.

Please let me know your thoughts I'll restate it again !!!IM NO DOCTOR!!! so don't quote me or take this as medicine knowledge. Do your research first if your interested in learning about said topics don't go off it by some random Tumblr post. But please feel free to correct me in the comments or list some facts or even your own experiences and ideas on your own. Def should check out the comic I absolutely love how it's written.

Casey Junior Rant {long post}

I love every Casey to the brim almost equally, but the one that wins the tie is definitely Rise Casey Junior. He is my boy and I love him very much, I wish he could live so much happier but I also feel super stressed or upset when people who make fics abt the aftermath of the movie and have him just move on and hardly do anything.

This boy has hardly talked to kids his age before and watched so many of his family members die. He doesn’t get to move on that easy!!!!!

On another note, it’s not that I’m mad about Jr having to go to school in these fics, it’s just that they write it out where he’s excited for school. He’s never been in a stable building that wasn’t built by Uncle Tello! My boy needs to be in there because there was no one else to teach him things he doesn’t already know!!

(In my canon) Everyone except April was homeschooled, even Cass and Jr, there needs to be more representation on his fear and anxiety when he’s around people that aren’t part of his family—or even better!! He needs to be anxious when he’s actually with them too!

On another note, please give this baby comfort and the resources to heal.

Then shove the pain back into his face.

He’s my favorite character, but he’s also my favorite character. (And a teenage boy) He can’t just be ignored! He needs his angsty times too!

Momentarily, I’m gonna praise myself with my idea of having the bean literally ask 0 questions when he sees the teenage version of his dead father who he hasn’t seen in 2-3 years and his immediate reaction is asking for a hug. And then he gets it!!!! He gets his hug, and then falls asleep, and while he’s sleeping his dads go through a sweet banter-y scene that would have happened when he was a child too.

IN CONCLUSION

He lives in constant deja-vu now that he entered a new timeline, don’t play it down for him.

He’s a teenager who watched the world die once, then went back in time to watch it almost happen again. Everything is painful to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why I Think Not Giving Donnie A Mystic Weapon Was A Good Choice

There are many practices in the ROTMNT fandom, and one of the many arguments is over the mystic weapon offered to Donatello in the very first episode. Of course, he doesn’t take it and its never brought up again, seeming to just be a little gag. But I believe this moment tells us a lot about Donnie’s ninpo.

Unlike his brothers, Donnie doesn’t have a clear ability throughout most of the show. He mainly does things through his tech, afraid of what would happen if it was forgotten about and replaced with magic. He eventually integrates mystics into his work. Eventually his ability is revealed to be just this: being able to effortlessly combine magic and tech.

My theory is that he’s always been able to do this. That his powers appeared years before his brothers. And that he didn’t take the conduit for his powers because he already built one himself.

Haven’t you noticed how Donnie’s tech always appeared advanced and even supernatural? Yes, this could be explained by a natural genius and a special interest in machines that bred hard work and creativity, spawning these amazing contraptions. But its so specifically made to fit the magic of his brothers and enemies that I believe this was caused by an early hatching of his ninpo. And haven’t you noticed the purple glow coming from many of these creations? Maybe the reason that he never needed the weapon offered to him to conduit his power because his bō was working fine.

The reason I am going out and saying this is because people are claiming that Donnie has the least amount or weakest magic from all of his brothers. The fact is that, according to my theory, he has magic even equatable to Mikey’s, the actual mystical lord of the family.

Loving your seperated raph au so far! So if Raph wasn't around, Leo must be the leader up til now? How did that affect his personality?

Thanks so much! And I actually have several ideas for their dynamic without Raph that I've been exploring, so prepare for a long-winded rant because I have Too Many Thoughts

I've brainstormed a lot about how the leadership role would work with Raph out of the picture, and my consensus is that Leo isn't a full-fledged leader. Instead, he and Donnie accidentally end up as co-leaders!

And by "accidentally", I mean "Leo elects himself as leader but Donnie hates the idea of being ordered around by his slightly-older annoying twin so much that he turns it into a competition for the leadership role". Actually in this context, I'd call it more of a president/vice-president dynamic, with Leo taking charge more often and Donnie occasionally stepping up if he doesn't agree with a decision. Poor Mikey kinda ends up stuck in the middle of all this, lol.

Outside of leadership, Leo is definitely more responsible as the self-appointed oldest brother, but that responsibility is more spread out between him and his brothers than it is with canon Raph. My reasoning behind this is how he's just barely the eldest. The difference in age between him and Donnie is so small that his younger brothers feel more inclined to help him out. Overall, the trio is more mature than in canon, but not by much (this isn't one of those super serious AUs where it's all about survival and familial issues, trust me. they're still a bunch of gremlins that love each other and do as they please, they just. know how to do their chores now.)

Also side note, without Raph around to be the tank/shield that takes the big hits, the trio's missions default to stealth if they're unfamiliar with whoever they're facing. At least until they get a handle on their mystic weapons; after that they can go into fights guns-blazing in all of their unhinged glory >:] (and i'd say Donnie with his tech takes up the mantle as the "tank" of the group, i mean did u see the first episode's fight with draxum? he was the only one getting effective hits in)

Exploring their dynamic is gonna be fun, especially how Leo and Raph might clash about leadership once things start winding down and Raph is finding his place in the family. He'd definitely feel like he should be the protector, what with his size, strength, battle skills, street smarts, etc etc, but I imagine the trio would be hesitant about the idea. After all, they've survived just fine up until now. Sure, they've got a few extra scars they could've done without, but they're still kicking!

To sum it up, Leo and Donnie somewhat share leading the team while also competing to become the True Leader, then Raph comes along and unwittingly joins in on the competition while Mikey has to just Deal in the background. Wonder how long it'll take for Dr Delicate Touch to step in?

The way Rise Donnie's actions are easily excused and just forgotten in the show and fandom concerns me so much. Especially how easily he is forgiven. Not to mention how he gets little to no consequences at all. He is always left off the hook easily.

Someone also mentioned how Raph tends to baby Donnie a lot, along with Mikey. Which is also probably the reason why he hardly gets ANY consequences to begin with.

Like, I don't think Donnie is a terrible brother or a bad person at all, however, the things Donnie has done are at best just really bad. And this also upsets me a lot. Especially because Donnie, as we all know, is cannonly autistic.

And it genuinely upsets me how he is portrayed as someone who is aggressive and someone to be scared of. Don't get me even STARTED on the fanon version of Donnie. Oh god do I hate fannon rise Donnie. People portray him as an asshole and or a jerk or someone with almost NO FEELINGS at all. Which is yet again another harmful stereotype of autistic people. Yeah sure, there are some autistic people who do behave this way, but this comes off as a blatant stereotype to some who are autistic.

Like I'm not autistic, but this still concerns me. The portrayal of Rise Donnie is incredibly disgusting and ableist as hell.

I'm sorry if I sound aggressive but, I'm just really angry at the people who being blatantly ableist towards Donnie.

Not to mention how people act as if Donnie doesn't care about his family or he is an emotionless asshole. Listen, Donnie might not have the best intentions at heart but he still does care about his family. While yeah many will point out he has low empathy but still though. He is trying his best. However though, I feel like we should still call out on some of the things Donnie has done. I really hope that if the show picks up again, if Donnie does something bad, he won't be babied, he won't be treated like a god or whatever, instead he will be properly called out and receive the consequences he deserves.
