I find places like this so packed with memories. Visiting them can be like opening a memory jar. You take off the lid and the smells and sounds of a place hit you, unlocking things folded away deep in your brain.

Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Sophie Cousens #BookReview #GPPutnamsSons #ARCReview #ContemporaryRomance #ChickLit
Sophie Cousens is back with a new book, loosely based upon the film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I love that the main character isn't 25, but pushing 40. #BookBlogger #Booksky #BookReview #ARCReview #NetGalley #GPPutnam #IsSheReallyGoingOutWithHim

The Good Part by Sophie Cousens Review
Summary (from the publisher):At twenty-six, Lucy Young is tired. Tired of fetching coffees for senior TV producers, tired of going on disastrous dates, and definitely tired of living in a damp flat share with flatmates who never buy toilet roll. She could quit her job for a better living, but she’s not ready to give up on her dreams. Not just yet. After another diabolical date lands her in a…

‘You know what I find interesting about the constellations,’ he said. ‘Ancient civilisations, which didn’t exist in the same time period, or even on the same continent, chose the same stars to connect in the sky, even made up similar stories. What does that tell us? That our eyes pick out the same dots of light from the thousands that are up there. When you think of human history, of all the war and conflict, isn’t there something heartening in such commonality? We have always looked to the stars for answers, used stories and mythology to help make sense of what is beyond our reach.’
‘I don’t know if I’m trying to make sense of anything when I look up. I just like knowing what I’m looking at,’ said Audrey, and her dad reached his hand up to ruffle her hair.
‘I got it for you because I think love is a seed. We choose to plant it, nurture it, and at the end of our lives, if we end up with a glorious old oak tree, with huge branches and plenty of shade, then that’s on us, not the cosmos.’'
'Before I Do' -Sophie Cousens.
It has been ages since I came here to post anything about my current read, but I can't resist sharing about Audrey's journey with all of you..
Audrey had a rough childhood as she dealt with her mum dating /switching partners while being married. She is unsure what she wants to pursue however as the plot thickens we see her interest in space evolve and wants to pursue it as a career. I loved Josh(the one she's about to be married, her college sweetheart and I was rooting for him throughout the book)
She questions herself if Josh is the one for her when she meets Fred, the one she met six years ago before Josh and spent some sweet moments. I don't want to spoil the whole plot but know that this book will leave it's mark at you.
Tw: Molestation, panic attack.
I empathized with Audrey when she was molested at 22 by her mum's partner and still she was not sure if it was what exactly happened with her, I felt for her and I wish she had all the emotional support she deserved from her mom, that was something which irked me.
I loved Clara, Granny Parker, Hillary,Paul who were a sounding board for Audrey.
This was my first Sophie Cousens read and this is definitely not going to be my last💜💜

Thank you @vonlipvig for tagging me!
Last song: Endgame #2, Chess in Concert (2008)
Favorite color: Yellow? Probably yellow.
Last book: A Christmas Carol, by some dude named Charles Dickens (reread). I think the last new book I finished was Dr. Anthony Fauci's memoir. I am currently reading Is She Really Going Out With Him by Sophie Cousens (who writes clever romance novels that are perfect for when that's what one wants)
Last Movie: I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a *new* movie (that doesn't involve Curious George or Elmo) since Oppenheimer, which is kind of sad. Last rewatch is either Clue or Back to the Future.
Last TV Show: Night Court (the new one!) I still need to watch the new Cobra Kai epsiodes that came out a couple weeks ago. On the to-watch list are The Terror (because Jared Harris <3) and Scandal (because @vonlipvig hooked me with recaps of Cyrus's adventures)
Sweet/Spicy/Savor: I refuse to answer this.
Relationship status: Married, with two kids
Last thing I googled: Difference between needlepoint and cross stitch (my friend does one of them but I can never remember which because I know absolutely nothing about sewing)
Current Obsession: My Suzerain (okay, Lucian <3) obsession has never really waned, but it's been kicked back up into high gear again. I might even start another run to get some writing inspo to finish the next chapter of my fic
Looking forward to: Back to the Future: The Musical in just over five weeks!!

Edward Holcroft offers up Taron Egerton proof of life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taron should be in the middle of filming his latest AppleTV+ series FIREBUG. The project reunites him with his BLACKBIRD showrunner Dennis Lehane and his BLACKBIRD costar Greg Kinnear.
“Firebug,” loosely based on true events and inspired by a podcast of the same name, stars Egerton as an “enigmatic arson investigator with Jurnee Smollett as his partner Michelle, a rising detective.
It will also star another AppleTV+ vet Rafe Spall whose AppleTV+ series TRYING just returned for its fourth season.
Rafe and his TRYING costar Esther Smith are awaiting the birth of their child.
Tumblr media
In the pipeline for Taron is Netflix's CARRY ON which was expected to be released this year as it was teased in Netflix's "What's Next in 2024" sizzle reel. He also has SHE RIDES SHOTGUN expected out in 2025. The international distribution sales for the film is largely sold out, while there is no information on domestic distribution.
Holcroft has a limited series in the offing with the Lithuianian six-parter A WOLF'S PALATE created by Emilis Vėlyvis. What is it about?
Tumblr media
“Young girl Silvija has been brutally murdered. Her desecrated body was found in the woods by Ulvis, the town’s deaf-mute tattoo artist. Everyone in the small town becomes suspects in this terrible crime, divided into several fierce camps accusing each other. Little by little, the viewer discovers the dark and frightening side of life in this seemingly sleepy, backwater town.”
What are the other KINGSMAN alums up to?
Colin Firth only has one project in the offing - the five part Sky Atlantic / Peacock limited series LOCKERBIE. In this true story, Firth plays Jim Swire who, along with his wife, are in a quest for justice for the victims - which included his daughter - of the bombing and subsquent crashing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
Tumblr media
Mark Strong: Never not working, Mark will be seen in Max's DUNE: PROPHECY as Emperor Javicco Corrino.
Tumblr media
He returns to the stage opposite Lesley Manville in OEDIPUS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On social media, his trainer confirmed what has been on IMDB for nearly a year - Strong will be in Max's Batman universe series THE PENGUIN. You can see him starting tomorrow in the Netflix Jennifer Lopez starrer ATLAS.
Also in the Netflix family is Sofia Boutella, who can currently be seen in the second part of REBEL MOON, REBEL MOON PART TWO: THE SCARGIVER. But also in the upcoming THE KILLER'S GAME.
Tumblr media
June 3rd, you can see Sophie Cookson in the romantic comedy THIS TIME NEXT YEAR (written by Sophie Cousens, adapated from her novel of the same title), opposite Lucien Laviscount.

I read a bit of The Good Part by Sophie Cousens and it definitely made me feel... not good. Reading a description of waking up 16 years in the future tripped me up so bad.
Just. Looking in the mirror and being yourself but different. Not knowing where you are or who the people in your life are. Technology being unrecognizable, the places you know are just a little bit different. Not remembering the past 16 years of your life.
