as much as i love the “dick is damian’s fav batman” narrative, the ‘justice league son of batman’ plotline offered unexplored potential for the sheer confusion that gotham must’ve gone through watching “batman” suddenly show up one day 3 inches shorter, bludhaven accent, trying to wrangle the feral little kid that was following him around fine a week ago

The webtoon manages to give a better characterization of Damian than the canonical comics do

Reminder that Damian’s love for animals is not something domesticated into him by his beloved batfamily but was a trait he inherited from the Al Ghuls.

Ra’s is an eco terrorist who literally sheds tears when animals are hurt. Talia spends a lot of her time perserving life while raising Damian.

He got that trait from the Al Ghuls.

Infact, Talia is the reason Damian has Goliath in the first place, saying;

Damian being an artist from a really young age is canon. Especially with the League’s training.

But I have this headcanon about how he got to be as encouraged as he was to pursue art as more than just part of his training and development.

Imagine a 3 year old Damian having his art breaks spaced out to only 2 or 3 per week and during this breaks he was babysat by the non-verbal, fresh out of the Lazarus pit Jason.

Damian would notice Jason’s struggle to readjust after being brought back even if he wasn’t sure what that was about.

And he would invite Jason to sit next to him, where he had a bunch of acrylics and canvases to finger paint in order to train and refine his motor skills.

Damian would pass the paints to Jason and encourage him to finger paint with him. Just as a fun game.

Without knowing, this led to Jason’s prompt readjustment and recovery since his communication, language skills and creativity were rehabilitated in one of the most friendly ways possible.

Jason spent the next couple of years gifting Damian art supplies for his lessons even if the League didn’t notice or didn’t care how art was helping him improve many aspects of his skills, even more than they anticipated since their actual goal were other aspects other than art.

In the end, Damian’s love for art wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t encouraged by Jason.
