Mini VITD Sims Lookbook (Largely Alice Focused Edition)

Hi all -- I ended up downloading and playing with some more Victorian and Victorian-esque CC for Sims 4 last Saturday, looking for some new looks for my Valicer In The Dark versions of Victor, Alice, and Smiler (mainly Alice, as per the title). And, as I'm still getting the next Chill Valicer Save update ready, I figured I'd share the results, in case any of you were interested/wanted some more CC to download! Here we go:

First up, we actually have something that I downloaded from someone’s lookbook post for their Alice Sim a little while ago (I'm afraid I don't remember whose at this point ^^;) – a conversion of Alice’s London dress from Alice: Madness Returns! As in, one Mimoto-Sims ripped this dress straight from the files of that game (along with a bunch of others) and turned it into an outfit in Sims 4! :D I’ve been looking for this for a while, and I’m quite pleased with it, though it is a little weirdly shiny – and if you think Alice suddenly looks a LOT thinner than usual in this dress, she is. Apparently I didn’t make my Sim Alice underweight enough! I think I prefer my Sims 4 version having a waist that doesn’t look like it could snap in half at any moment, though. XD

Okay, onto the CC I actually downloaded on Saturday, with Alice modeling the Ever Elegant Blouse v2 and the Rather Ravishing Skirt v2 from Gilded Ghost’s New Woman set! I ended up pairing these two together because, with the apron, I thought this made another good “maid” Alice outfit – though she looks like she’s working somewhere fancier than Houndsditch in this set, that’s for sure. (Now I’m tempted for her to somehow get her hands on a maid’s outfit from the Van Dort estate when her and Smiler’s attempt to return Victor to his parents ends up in them robbing them for being shitheads who don’t care about their son...) But it’s a nice look for her, and I am THRILLED that this and the other tops from that set worked with her necklace! :D Seriously, so many outfits hide that necklace, and given that it’s suppose to be her wearing Lizzie’s room key, I’d like it to be visible more often than not!

Case in point, the necklace is also visible in this outfit, which is Alice wearing the Jacket Jubilee top with the Perfectly Plain skirt from the New Woman set. This set I just thought looked nice on her, and made a nice – semi-formal? This feels fancier than casual, but not fancy enough to be formal. Like, maybe this is something she’d wear if the gang were heading to the Golden Plum for a nice dinner, or to a park for a trio date. That sort of thing. Not “fancy neighborhood” wear, but a step above hanging around the house.

By contrast, Alice is definitely not leaving the house in this outfit. XD This is dzifasims’s Bespoke Corset, paired with a plain Get Famous skirt that I thought looked like a shift or underskirt (I thought the corset CAME with one, but apparently I was mistaken). It’s nice to have a plainer corset that doesn’t look like it was bought for sex purposes, unlike the base game one. Though I do like the “bought for sex purposes” one too. XD Alice probably prefers this one, though – it’s more her style, and I think it makes good underwear for her.

Onto the masc stuff, with Smiler showing off pandorasimbox’s Azariah’s Sacksuit. I have mixed feelings on this – the basic shape of the suit is okay, and I liked pairing it with the bowler, but as per usual this suit did not have any of the right swatches I needed for Smiler. The problem is, people do a lot of muted colors for Victorian-style clothes, and even the ones that include brighter swatches tend not to do a lot of yellow. Meaning I often end up with poor Smiler wearing beige because that’s as close as I can get. *sigh* I mean, I do rather like the look on them – they kind of look like they’re auditioning for a Charlie Chaplin movie – but it’s gotta be BRIGHTER, you know? *sigh* I gotta learn how to recolor clothes... (Also, amusingly, the boots are actually from Moschino – they actually look Victorian enough when you cover up the tops with a long pant.)

Fortunately, while [LonelyBoy]’s TS4 Solardius Outfit doesn’t have a yellow swatch, it DOES have a black swatch with gold decorative details, and that I can work with – especially when paired with the High School Years shoes I love so much for Smiler in the “black with yellow stitching” swatch. :) Not sure how much I like the high collar on Smiler, but this is certainly not a bad look for them!

And it CERTAINLY isn’t a bad look for Victor, who suits that high collar much better. XD As you can see, Victor got the nice dark blue swatch with the red tie, which is kind of the inverse of his tie/vest color scheme in the movie. XD But it suits him, and again, this seems like a nice, semi-formal outfit he might wear for an outing with his partners where he wanted to look a little more put together. :)

And there you have it – me playing with my favorite trio like dolls again. XD What can I say, it’s fun to dress them up in new outfits! And these particular sessions help inform me of what I’d like my trio to wear in the Valicer In The Dark universe. Since, you know, I’m pretty well obsessed with that these days. XD So don’t @ me, downloading CC is writing research, okay? Okay. :p

just thought i'd leave this here

thanks to this wonderful video, i learned how to get access to all of the sims 4 expansions totally legally. if you don't wanna go through all those steps, you might just be able to get them, too, if you follow this link...

instructions can be found in the video or in the tags. i will make my own video for my process in the future. when i do, i'll edit this post and link it here.

#soo it's a bit confusing but i'll try to explain it the best i can #download the ea dlc unlocker first #then download the one called DOWNLOAD THIS ONE #extract them both #you can take out any of the expansions you already have #in the ea dlc unlocker folder you need to scroll down and click on setup #at the top it should say “dlc unlocker not installed”#press 1 then enter to install the dlc unlocker #allow the application to make changes to your device #it should now say “dlc unlocker installed” at the top #press 2 then enter to select what game dlc you're installing #press 19 then enter to select the sims 4 #it should now say “game config copied” at the top #press 3 then enter to make sure that the config copied properly #there should be two files #“config” and “g_The Sims 4”#if both files are there then you did everything right #you can now add all of the expansion packs to your sims 4 x86 program files (or wherever your files are on your device)#run the sims 4 like usual and all the expansions should be in your game #you will need to reinstall the ea dlc unlocker through the setup file every time the sims 4 is updated so don't delete that folder #i will add new expansions to the drive files as they come out #it might take up to a week for them to be uploaded because i get them from another site #plus i work and have a life outside the sims #so please don't rush me to get new packs uploaded the day they are released

Norma: It’s not uncommon to find yourself on the wrong path in life, Oscar. Try not to beat yourself up too much. Oscar: I could’ve turned back earlier-.. I don’t know why I didn’t. Courtney reckons it was fate. Norma: That’s one way of looking at it.

Oscar: I was in a bad place.. ignoring everything seemed easier at the time, but the more we got involved, the less freedom we had. I figured they’d get bored eventually, y’know? Find someone better suited to the job than a depressed junkie. Norma: Bumping into Kate, that changed things for you?

Oscar: It felt so personal in comparison-.. these were innocent people; people I knew. I couldn’t sit on it. I knew the cops were in on it as well, so I took her to the only person I thought I could trust. Norma: Joslyn.

Oscar: [nods] She helped Kate, but she couldn’t help us, not after being promoted by Spencer. Norma: She tried her best. Oscar: That Agent Key guy was twice as useless as her, he fucking ghosted us.

Norma: Well, I looked into that after Joslyn told me about it. He had a heart attack-.. recovered just fine, but chose to retire early. The importance of your case was most likely lost amongst a mountain of paperwork. Those local departments are horrendously unorganised, bound by red tape; it should’ve landed on our desk.

Oscar: I was pissed that no one seemed interested-.. but I’m stubborn, so I figured I’d write it up myself, take it to the top. I kinda got waylaid though; Del Sol, Courtney got pregnant, I checked myself into rehab.. it’s all a bit of a blur. Norma: Do you know why Wyatt sent Courtney to Del Sol?

Oscar: It turns out they’d met outside all this; maybe he was jealous, suspicious, unhinged.. all three? The weirdest thing is, after all that, he turned around and helped us? I don’t get it. Norma: Really? That’s interesting.

Oscar: For some reason, yeah. He helped us expose Spencer. Norma: Is there any chance he could’ve felt guilty-.. had a change of heart? Oscar: [scoffs] I doubt it, he’s a pretty disturbed guy.

Norma: It’s no wonder, growing up in that environment. Oscar: He doesn’t deserve an excuse. Norma: Now, now.. don’t get all bitter; we never truly know other people’s intentions. We can guess, but still…

Oscar: It’s hard not to be. Norma: I’m sorry that you fell through the cracks, Oscar.. I really am. If you were a CI, or even an undercover agent, you would’ve been pulled out of this situation a long long time ago. The fact that you persevered is admirable.

Oscar: [sighs] I just-.. I wish Courtney hadn’t been dragged into it. Norma: Life’s too short for regret, dust yourself off and move on. Oscar: How can I move on when-…

Norma: We have a name, a place-.. Eugene’s already in Del Sol; it’s only a matter of time, trust me. Oscar: I suppose it’s your job now. Norma: [chuckles] Not one to hand over the reins easily, are you? You and your friends got us this far, we’ll do the rest.

Oscar: [nods] Thanks for being one of the good ones-.. I think? You haven’t been a dick to us, at least. Norma: Aha, the key is to pick your battles. You’re not the real bad guys here. Oscar: Are you, uh-.. we’re not gonna need lawyers once you’ve wrapped up in Del Sol, are we?

Norma: No, there’s no evidence against any of you; some dealings here and there, racketeering, assault-.. whatever else? Some of our agents do much worse, it’s a means to an end… I told Bruno we don’t always do things by the book, and I meant it. Oscar: That’s.. good to know.

Norma: [nods resolutely] Such a remarkable story-.. anyway, I think you’ve given me enough of your time. Oscar: Well.. I didn’t think I’d be saying this, but it was nice meeting you. Norma: Likewise! I’ll be sure to let you know of our progress, okay? In the meantime, you ought to try and give yourself a break.

During the last round, Cedric and Melody got married! They didn't move together, though – why bother when their houses are right next to each other. They both appreciate their independence, too.

Shay grew up to an adult and found out he's rather good at uh... casting illusions. A handy little trick, especially as he happened to be curious about what others carry in their pockets.

And Atty got bullied by a local wolf :( he could use some of his human partner's magic skills too.

Although the pets DLC for the Sims isn’t high on my radar (though I haven’t looked at the CAS and build items) since my house in the Sims has no space for a dog (you know the lots in the bottom left of willow creek? I picked the house next to the bigger empty lot. I had to make a second floor to accommodate for the accidental baby) and idk if I want to do pet gameplay yet

But. I looked at Don’s profile on the Sims wikia and

He likes pet enthusiasts. I want to get him and my daughter a dog one day lol

Bria: Isn't that what we just did at dinner?

Emmitt: Yes, but I figured there may be things you wanted to talk about without the kids. With me.

Bria: Umm, no. Not really.

Emmitt: Well, how are you feeling? Like really?

Bria: A lot better actually. Thank you for arranging for me to go. Holding down the fort. I hear it wasn't easy.

Emmitt: Did you?

Bria: Yeah, Katelyn filled me in during the flight back on all the new rules.

Emmitt: Well, I'm glad you didn't hear before your trip was over. You needed that time. But, yes. It seems like Diana is really focused on making some sort of irritating splash.

Bria: I'm guessing that's what that's about, as well?

Emmitt sighs: Yeah. It took my all my strength not to haul that Lydia women out of here when she brought that thing in.

Bria laughs: Can't wait to show of my new digs.

Emmitt: It's all just... a lot. I'm glad you got some time away.

Bria: Me too.

Emmitt: So, now that you're feeling better, I've been doing some thinking about KBE while you were away and I have some ideas. Maybe when I get back we can talk about them?

Bria: Oh.

Emmitt: What is it?

Bria: I don't know... it's just... I just got back and and I've got a lot to catch up on...

Emmitt: Oh, well I guess I just figured fighting back against this KBE ruling would be high on your list.

Bria: I know and I appreciate you trying to help, but... this fight, it just. I don't know... feels like too much.

Emmitt: Well, I think once you hear my ideas you might think differently.

Bria: Emmitt, you're talking about going up against The Queen, The Crown. Diana isn't just your cousin in this instance. This fight just feels too big.

Emmitt: Diana's just on some power trip or getting some bad advice. I wouldn't worry, my love. I know her. She can see reason. Plus, no fight is too big for my wife.

Bria frustrated: Emmitt, I love you, but you and everyone else are not listening to me and it's driving me insane.

Emmitt: Maybe because it seems like you just want to give up.

Bria: I don't know, Emmitt. Maybe I do! Why give these people any more ammo against me? For the last 16 years that we've been married, they've come after everything. My divorce, my tattoos, my wardrobe. Now my business! It's exhausting trying to prove myself constantly!

Emmitt: Bria, I- I'm sorry. I haven't realized how much this was still affecting you. Have I been this blind?

Bria sighs: No. I- I've learned to hide it really well. I try my best not to read the simsta comments or the blogs or listen to the talk shows. I try to just be myself or put on this confident facade that none of it bothers me. But, when something like this happens it just reminds me that I will always be an outsider in this world. No matter how hard I try to fit in. And right now, it feels easier to give in than to fight.

Emmitt: I'm trying to understand, Bria. I really am. This is just... not like you.

Bria: Well, maybe this is me now and everyone's just gonna have to get used to it!
