For the idol au, have you decided if there's going to be any canon ships, or are you making it an open type thing where it's up for interpretation?
@zucchichat 😭 I think this one's for you.
And... I have nothing to do with the Idol AU. 💀💀💀 It belongs to (@/zucchiyeni <- their main blog)

I just want to tell you now that I will be eating The Receptionist, so please keep a look out for him disappearing off pages. It may seem confusing, but it's protocol for whenever I see really great art - such as yours.

Ooh, now that is a fun thought! I love the idea of improving their cultivation making Heavenly Demon Crows more golden.
Becoming more golden could also be tied to cultivating “properly” via hard work (not using cultivation enhancing artifacts, eating others cores, etc.) while also making the effort to aid others without expecting praise. After all, not doing their sun duties properly/vigilantly, and not caring how their actions hurt mortals, is what made them fall in the first place. It would make sense for doing things ‘properly’ to set them back on their golden path.
Shen Yuan is canonically quite selfless and works hard to help other people (despite his unreliable narration insisting he’s a selfish guy), and he’s actually quite good at cultivation (the extras revealed Shen Jiu had only recently reached core formation, yet Shen Yuan jumped him to mid core formation in less than a year). He’d become more golden at an unprecedented rate compared to other Heavenly Demon Crows!
If Shen Yuan is the only Heavenly Demon Crow around, he might not have less shiny cousins and uncles around being jealous, but it’s easy to imagine some non-heavenly demon crows mimicking the heavenly ones by decking themselves in golden and glittery things too. I’m fond of the headcanon that demon nobles give themselves forehead markings to mimic the Heavenly Demon Zuiyin, so with all corvids loving shiny things it would only make sense for them to eagerly copy the gold and glittery habits of Heavenly Crow Demons too.
Time for some thoughts on the heavenly aspects of heavenly crow demons!
I've gathered from readings various xianxia works that demon kind (Mó Zú, 魔族) and 'heart demons' (Xīn Mó, 心魔) are both called Mó (魔) because the two are intertwined. Demons are either 1) beings that succumbed to their own heart demons, 2) physical manifestations of the heart demons of individuals or people generally, 3) cosmic entities that foster heart demons in other people, or 4) decedents of other demons formed via the former methods. In other words, you don't get a demon without some sort of heart demon being associated with them!
In SVSSS, Heavenly Demons are very explicitly of the first category! They were heavenly beings, but "fell to depravity" and became demons, with the Zuiyin (罪印, Mark of Sin) being a physical manifestation of their fall from the heavens.
When Binghe's seal was broken, he was overcome with bloodlust and the "desire to inflict savage cruelty," which along with all their blood related powers, seems to indicate the major heart demon his Heavenly Demon bloodline suffers from is specifically bloodlust. I'd hazard a guess that a tendency towards anger, and perhaps the need for vengeance, may be manifestations of that heart demon too (succumbing to anger certainly makes Binghe's mark glow brighter and spread).
Thinking about the ex-Jinwu Heavenly Demon Crows, their particular heart demon should be related to vanity, pride, and carelessness. Depending on how you interpret the myth, they almost burned the world to ashes just to mess around, and perhaps be admired, so it seems fitting!
Based on this, Heavenly Demon Crows have a strong tendency towards luxury, pampering, and playing around. If they're trapped somewhere stuffy and boring, are forced to perform menial labors, or are in a sorry state where they don't get to show off their fine garments (or plumage) and sparkly jewelry to be admired, they tend to get quite irritated about it.
Speaking of jewelry, since Heavenly Demon Crows used to be pure gold, their current mostly 'drab' black appearance with only gold feather tips and a slightly gold sheen, is quite tragic to them. It contributes to their grand desire to cover themselves in glitter and gold to make up it!
Luckily for Shen Yuan, he unknowingly snags himself a man who will be thrilled to spoil him rotten, take him to interesting places, and cover him in all the gold and fine silks he could ever want!
First of all, the level of thought you've put into demons is admirable and I will never be able to think of anything else when I'm thinking about demons. Woarh...so many kinds of demons - all so fascinating...So, heavenly demons as once heavenly beings, which is just wild to think about - and the Zuiyin information!! I'm not afraid to admit that I'm very hopeless when it comes to things into this, so this is all information that I am chewing on quite gently THE VANITY, PRIDE AND CARELESSNESS SIN LINKING TO THE CROW DEMONS YES YES YES!!! The idea of Shen Yuan slowly falling for these typicalities within his bloodline, it's so so silly, the idea that he just randomly walks into his little nest home and realises that he's SURROUNDED by gold and glitter and shiny shit, and he's just like "....ohhhh. OHHHHHH-" I love the idea of a huffy Shen Yuan doing something to help out the locals (he loves helping the local villages, even if he hates doing work), and a couple of crows watching as he lugs along a cart of dirt and quietly bemoans the fact that anything shiny he has is thoroughly caked with dirt - he may be helpful, but he likes to be shiny :(( BINGHE GIVING HIM LITERALLY EVERYTHING HE COULD EVER WANT - He so much as LOOKS at something? It's immediately his. Immediately. I love this. I wish I could say more but this speaks for itself. (Check the crowyuan au tag on my Tumblr for more!! I'll probably answer a couple more asks about it tomorrow because I'm only on half a day of learning and I've got a few more interesting asks to blab about!! :D)

When I'm bored, I like to imagine Lan Wangji going literally feral whenever someone insults Wei Wuxian. Not in person, of course, that isn't how he rolls, but he waits 'till he's alone. He lets the frustration bubble inside him until he can stalk away far into the secluded corners of the Cloud Recesses, and just starts absolutely beating up everything he sees.
So you knew that I’d take this idea and run with it right?
I think it’d be interesting if that was how the bunny field was created. Like, he just punched down enough trees that it created a large open field for the bunnies to live in and nobody could question why he’s put punching trees because he has an excuse now. It’s be hilarious if his cultivation gets a large boost from so much time spent meditating and “training” as a way to get his anger out.
Also I think it’d be funny if he has murder plans of several people who insulted Wwx. Detailed too. Like, nobody would know it was him and the plans would be incriminating if one of them went missing under mysterious circumstances. He’d probably never do it but he would think about it. He could do it pretty openly too. He’s just writing in the library and most people think that he’s writing some official documents or replicating books for emergencies (they don’t want their library burned again but if it does it’s good to have backups) but in actuality he’s just writing how to best murder sect leader Jiang for the millionth time. Sect leader Jiang 100% has the most notes written about him but LWJ would never act on it if only because wwx loves his brother even if they haven’t been on good terms for awhile even before his death.

more peak lord preen abilties!! with inspiration from @sillygoofyqueer <3
yue qingyuan is the most thorough and gentle preener, having the experience to know what to do, but he never seeks out shen qingqiu for it and never asks because he's afraid to cross a line (also sometimes the hesitance makes shen qingqiu nervous and the barely-there touches can be a sensory nightmare)
liu qingge is a little harsh but he tries his best, definitely needs a lot of guiding, but is very good if there's a deep rooted itch and much needed shedding; also is hesitant to volunteer even though he will fight others for it; has taken shen qingqiu for flights on his sword so he can still feel the wind in his wings when without a cure acts up; has definitely had shen qingqiu sprawled out across his lap in bliss once and is still riding that high
mu qingfang is a gentle, diligent preener, always has tea and cakes at the ready, but he tends to go into long talks of wing disease and parasites and does without a cure need checking..? probably was the first one to notice shen qingqiu's feather picking behavior. is really good at freeing ripe pin feathers. is the third dog sneaking away with the bone when the other peak lords are fighting each other over whose turn it is to help out
shang qinghua isn't the best preener, he mostly runs his fingers through the feathers and pulls a little too hard, but he can yap shen qingqiu into next week and keep up conversation when shen qingqiu doesn't feel like talking; one time shen qingqiu tried to lean against him and tuck one leg, but shang qinghua misunderstood and stepped away and shen qingqiu fell over; has been given a wing-hug
qi qingqi is a good preener with an eye for detail, and her gossip is always fresh, but her combing is not for the weak! some of her disciples keep asking for feathers for personal projects (they're so pretty and shiny!); she's encouraging shen qingqiu to use his wings to fight
wei qingwei will pick shen qingqiu up and kidnap him to his peak to sit him down for tea and wingcare if he notices his wings are disheveled; is a total dad about it, casually reaching out to fix stray feathers or gently pull out a loose one whenever
|||
bonus binghe!
binghe has a collection of feathers he found while cleaning shizun's room
he can't get enough of the way shizun's wings flap and floof up when he's eating binghe's food
keeps trying to add stuff to shen qingqiu's nest (he tried his own robes once, but it didn't work), wants desperately to be invited in
is jealous of everyone who's been allowed to preen shizun's wings (he's the head disciple and shizun's favorite, cleaning the house and cooking food, it should be his job to do wingcare!!)

⚠️WACOM SUPPORTS AI ART. PLEASE READ. ⚠️
So I've been using a wacom tablet for over a year now, and I know they're pretty cheap to buy and good quality. But please don't support them anymore. If you have a wacom tablet already that's completely fine, but if it breaks go buy from a different brand.
Tumblr media
Look at the tail, the neck, and the fur. There are holes in the fur, fur where there shouldn't be fur, and the tail is just completely detatched.
A Youtuber I watch also pointed out some other details.
youtube
I recommend Huion. My brother uses huion and I can say that their products work just as good as, if not better than, wacom. I'll put the link to their site below, feel free to add on any details I might've missed! ^^
Please reblog!!!
Link to Huion's products.

@sillygoofyqueer @anayzdraw ask and ye shall receive
“What are you doing?”
Cross’ hand froze over the running riverwater, grip tight on the bloodied blade. Bones broke through the ground a few feet away in the direction of the intruding voice.
“Oh?” The voice had turned cold, edged, but a voice still present meant a witness still alive so Cross turned his eyes on them; the magic in him curled up on itself, himself tensing up, ready to attack, but the intruder caught within the radius of the bone attack was sitting cross-legged, calm. Perhaps even relaxed.
Then his gaze fell to the forest floor: a circle of carmine red mushrooms spotted with eerily pure white, and let out an exhale. It was a Fae.
The bones broke apart into ash, and Cross dipped his head in apology.
“Pardon me, Sir. I hadn’t noticed you.” He took care to avoid saying the word sorry, or anything adjacent. The Fae did not look all-together appeased, but Cross was still standing on his two feet, so he hadn’t severely offended them.
“Mhm.” The voice held a note of overt serenity: but Cross wasn’t fooled. He had been predator enough times, he recognised one biding his time when he saw it. “I know. But what are you doing, stranger?”
Cross withdrew his hand and turned fully away from the river. He was conscious of the blood dripping from the blade in his hands, and let it drip into the soil. The fae’s gaze carried lazily down, but even then there was a glint of curiosity, of interest.
He was not dying in this forest today. “Just washing up. Don’t pay me any heed.”
“That is not animal blood.”
He said it delicately.
Cross forced himself not to tense.
“I would not disrespect the Fae in such a way.”
“Hmm. And you would, some other way?” Their eyes twinkled. They were startlingly gold.
“No. Not in any way.” He let out a breath. How far was the path? No, better not to risk offending the Fae by a swift exit. He did not move an inch, and did not look away from the Fae. “Is there anything else of note?”
The Fae tilted their head slightly. “Hm.”
They considered him. Cross met their eyes with a calm he did not feel; he could almost feel them examining him, peeling layer by layer past his exterior.
The Fae finally let out a small, sighing hum and leaned back, elbows sinking into the forest floor. “Many things of note, I imagine. How curious.”
He couldn’t afford to respond. He kept still, blade tucked at his side. Even a nod was too much invitation, and the sooner he could get away, the better. He was not interested in staying back for them to untangle whatever they wanted from the threads of his thoughts.
The Fae’s mouth curled up in the faintest smile. “But,” They said, voice lilting, “Best not disturb your work, no?”
Then, they rose, uncoiling from the forest floor in one fluid motion.
“Take care, stranger.” Their eyes were gleaming like light off a knife. “Not all hunters in these woods are as merciful.”
Cross inclined his head, careful to keep his movements controlled. Their eyes flickered over him once more. Glittering with a mirth that told him to run.
Then they were gone in a flurry of light.
Only once the silence returned in full did Cross allow himself to let out a slow, steadying breath. His hand flexed around the knife, fingers stiff, and he glanced down.
Cross was many things. He was a hunter, but he was almost someone with common sense. So he was not going to question how the knife was rusting so quickly, ignore the red dust sticking to his fingers, and made a mental note to wear more iron when he came to wash the blood off in the forest stream in future.
(But you and I both know that won't stop Dream.)

Oh my frigging god, the Void Hotel idea sounds absolutely awesome!!! Can you elaborate on the Swap variant if possible? They look very wholesome and I want to know more about them lmao
Of course! So he's known as the receptionist by everyone, and all the residents just call him receptionist or the receptionist. He tires his best to make sure everyone is ok when they arrive. He is slightly shorter than normal Swap Sanses but has a similar personality to them. He tries to help when he can and suddenly appears when called. He is besties with one of the Lust Sans residents.
On how he came to be the receptionist, like everyone, he fell into the void.
He was originally in the Star Sanses, much to his brother's worry that he'd get hurt. He was generally well liked, even becoming best buds with another version of himself. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as he, Ink, and Dream were fighting the Bad Guys in a genocide timeline of Outertale(they'd been moving between timelines), he got attacked by the human, delivering an attack that'd be fatal, but before he could dust, he tripped and fell backwards off the ledge before Dream or Ink could get to him.
When he woke up, he was in the reception room. The front doors were on the ceiling. That's how he got in. His slash wound was gone, now a scar. He had no idea what was happening. Was this the afterlife or purgatory? He couldn't tell.
On the receptionists desk was a nametag saying "Receptionist," a sticky note on the computer simply welcoming him to his first day on the job. For the first couple of months, he was on the verge of tears the whole time. Eventually, he gained a routine, and things got more manageable. It's been a few years or so(time is really weird there, so who actually knows), and by now, he's accepted he'll never go home, so he focuses on helping and protecting the residents of the hotel. He does miss his brother, though.
But yeah, he is very friendly and nice, he cares a lot about everyone in the hotel.

More Heavenly Crowyuan thoughts for both you and @someonewhoreadswaaytoomuchfanfic.
As I was thinking up Heavenly Crow Demon ideas, it occurred to me that regeneration and fire are both things associated with Greek phoenixes. Considering PIDW's insane length, surely at least some of the adventures must have monsters cribbed from other mythologies, right?
With this is mind, there is a good chance Shen Yuan looks at his abilities and thinks something like, "Oh, I must have a grandparent who is a many-lived-regenerating-firebird. There sure were a lot of them in that volcanic demon realm mountain range where Binghe met wife 67." and just never question things further. Since Airplane opted not to include heavenly demon crows in his story, Shen Yuan has no idea they're even a possibility!
As sillygoofyqueer noted before, only heavenly demons naturally have Zuiyin marks, but it's really popular for artists to draw such markings on other sorts of demons too. Because of this, I'm fond of the headcanon that all sorts of demons mark their own foreheads either to denote their status or just for the sake of fashion.
I'm sure crow demons, with their love of shiny things, are happy to paint glittery markings on their foreheads, so they might not find Shen Yuan's natural mark all that odd (beyond perhaps the fact he never changes it). For Shen Yuan himself, since he transmigrated in with clothes and stuff, he probably figures the demon he transmigrated into painted it there before Shen Yuan replaced him.
Supposing the other crows do realize Shen Yuan's heritage, one of my many inspirations for crowyuan are the crows in Tamora Pierce's trickster series. Let me tell you, those crows were not impressed by either royalty or gods. If you want their help with something, you need to bribe them with something shiny!
As such, when they look at heavenly demon crows they probably just think things like, "Man, I wish my feathers came with natural gold tips!" and "That guy sure is helpful when driving off invaders!" but otherwise do not care in the slightest... Unless the heavenly demon crow in question uses their abilities to bully and steal from other crows of course. Then they might agree to offer tribute and some token amount of reverence, but they'll mostly just think that crow is an asshole.
I think this is such a silly funny idea as well, and I love the thought of, instead of worshipping the ground that heavenly demons walk on like most other demons, the extent of crow demons' appreciation ends at "...I want those shiny feathers :(" (imagine a whiney sibling's voice as you read that) and other than that, they really do not care about anything like that.
Also, on the topic of Shen Yuan just brushing off everything weird that hints towards his heritage, I can't stop thinking about the idea of him trying to get used to his own body and figure out what perks it has. Every time he comes across something that isn't mentioned in PIDW, he brushes it off with an "it must have been a fluke" or "well, never doing THAT ever again". For instance, when his arm sets alight and it's healed from a fall or something, he kind of pauses before deciding "well, now I'm hallucinating from the hitting my head" and just goes about his day as if nothing happened. One time he accidentally sets something on fire when he's healing (still believing that he is just regularly hallucinating now) and he stares at the ashes of whatever he burned before just gaslighting himself into believing he had a source of fire that caused the flames rather than him doing it.
