hey do you guys ever think about how sherlock's torture was mostly if not all on his back and the first thing that happened after he got back was john throwing him on his back and beating him up.

do you think about how it must have felt to have those wounds suddenly reopen but his best friend put them there. do you think suddenly he was back in that cold, dark cell but his abuser was the man he loved.

do you think about offscreen john finally finding out about all the torture he went through and hearing the stories and seeing the scars and realizing he reopened them once and added some more when he beat him up in the mortuary. do you think about him never forgiving himself for hurting sherlock like that and not even realizing it when sherlock had already been through hell both in serbia and the one john thought he had put him through ever since he had gotten back to london.... well ok but i do though

after the MESS that was chapter two, sherlock navigates processing the not-so-nice words john had for him in chapter three.

today we'll see molly (!) and more dialysis appointments and a dream that haunts sherlock (does that make it a nightmare?) and a rather strange conversation between the men over dinner. so apparently they're back to being awkward now. whoops

but anyways rosie's here!! which is really the main reason why you're still around, right. right?

WHEN SHERLOCK WOKE UP, he felt as though he had shrunk and that his limbs were all somehow cramping at the same time.

Of course, he hadn’t shrunk at all and maybe his limbs were cramping just a bit, but he couldn’t complain; he did it to himself.

“Oh, Sherlock,” Mrs Hudson had said when she walked in. “You didn’t sleep on the settee again, did you? You’re going to get a bad back.”

After she set his pedantically measured mug of black coffee on the desk (his medical meal plan was her bible), she whipped open the curtains and talked ad nauseam about mattresses and inflatable sofas and something else Sherlock couldn’t be bothered to listen to; he was too conflicted about his dream.

You don’t have the right to say that to me anymore. That’s why.

Why don’t I? What do I need to do?

No. No. Just... Stop it. Stop this.

The grip on his left shoulder was getting stronger, tighter, more painful.

This is what it felt like, when I got shot.

The dream lingered over his head like a cloud of thick smoke, suffocatingly addictive yet too far for him to reach entirely. He wondered if it really was just a dream - reality folded only within the crevices of what John said that night. But there was a part of him, a much bigger part, that wondered if it was even a dream at all.

It had been four days since John dug his fingers into Sherlock’s left shoulder, seethed out his words like a pressed steamer, gathered his daughter into his arms and left Baker Street instead of staying to sleep.

Sherlock stayed up all night after that, frozen in his armchair until he gave Mrs Hudson a fright when she brought up his morning coffee. Despite having sat there processing for so long that night (so still, so unmoving that he did not ripple in the slightest), Sherlock still couldn’t differentiate between anything that happened - the blend of conversation lingering above his head in a gritty blur of heat and smoke and anger.

But if it did happen in real life, he thought with a groan as he sat up from the sofa, it was about time.
