Korean Maki x Japanese Nico AU

This is inspired by a trend on Twitter a while ago where people draw Korean X Japanese girl (see the QRT and you’ll be flooded by lots of cute art)

of course being the nicomaki trash i am, i draw this AU for them, I think it’s my favorite AU now 😇

why this makes sense for nicomaki: 1) Pile is half korean 2) I just want to draw it

Maki is half Korean-Japanese & currently on a medical student exchange in Japan. There she meets Nico, a staff at a karaoke place that Maki frequently visits.

Maki can’t take her eyes off Nico since day one but being the loser she is, she buries her feelings. One night, Maki gets too drunk and spills everything out in Korean right IN FRONT OF NICO and when they're getting closer- Maki: *pass out* Nico: ...huh? huh??

The next day Maki frantically apologizes to Nico for all the embarrassing thing she had done & Nico forgive ofc Maki: did I do other things to you? Nico: nothing... Maki: oh thank god Nico: haha yeah, you're definitely not trying to kiss me Maki: haha yeah Nico: yeah Maki: Nico:

(It's going to be so entertaining when Maki finds out that cute girl is actually 3 years older than her...)

🗡 dozing off writing replies but im curious how others go about writing out stuff/the order you write particular parts, and if you have a different way of writing depending on if it's a reply, ask, or a drabble 🤔 in most cases I find I write out any spoken words first, then the tones or actions done while talking, and then depending on the writing purpose add trains of thought, other actions or specific actions that convey emotions. stuff I looove getting lost in writing include describing scenes, settings, environments, food or the time of day! for drabbles I usually start with these descriptive elements to get into the mood of it.

Wich is unfortunate because my knowledge of classic swedish literature is borderline negative. I have some knowledge of swedish cinema (as muxh as any 30 y/o nerd raised by my cinephile father can), but I am not a cinema student and would be extremely underequiped to attempt any analysis/stylistique influence research.

There IS something to be said about how many author (and specifically horror!) video games are comming out of nordique studio, specifically swedish ones, but the research on stylisque, semiotique and artistic merit/influence of ANY style and period of video games is virtually non existant. And I do not want to be that person to kick start that.

Wich leave me back to my starting point, literarry analysis, wich *is* my field of expertise. With a bonus of fine art understanding, because I didn't go to art school over nothing. Now, while I do see a lot of very valuable link between Mouthwashing and classic russian literature, eroguro, new objectivity and classic pulp/penny dreadful, I still really freaking HATE that I cannot quite grasp the cultural/historical context of media creation in sweden. There are interesting primary source in english and french, but fuck I am not in the mood to actually sit down and digest 15 to 20 new books, a few dozen of academic papers and 50h+ of cinema, all not in the primary language. At least I have some basic undsrstamding of Russian and Japaness for those sources, and they have PLENTIFULL high quality french source especially due to the better translation between those languages ToT

THESE ARE ESTIMATES AND GUESSES DON'T COME FOR ME but I wanted to see how many people he'd killed by the time the broadcast happened!

I counted all the names on that one manga panel—thirty-two lines with four columns per row, which puts us at 128 names per page. There are obviously pages before the ones Light shoves in front of Ryuk, so that's already over 236 people dead.

Then the police say that all of Kira's kills are between the hours of 4:00pm and 2:00am—eleven hours total.

The average person can write anywhere from five to twenty words per minute; I took a guess and went with the upper bit of sixteen words per minute being Light's writing speed. NOW with this hypothesis (doing science in my DN headcanons now, watch me if-then), accounting for any breaks Light might have taken from writing between those hours by knocking two whole hours off altogether and making it a nice nine, given that he's shown to develop a bout of insomnia for that period—but not accounting for any names that are more or less words than two (which brings up the interesting question of if Light would need someone's middle name to kill them...hmm questions for another post)—Light fills about three and three quarters of pages per hour. That's 480 names per hour.

480 names an hour for nine hours is 4,320 names a day.

So in the frantic panicked haze Light would've been in during those five days before Ryuk showed up and told him he wouldn't be dying, Light likely killed somewhere around 21,600 people.

It slows drastically after this, because Light begins to calm down and think his kills through more thoroughly, developing an actual plan of action to justify all the people he's now killed. He starts getting proper sleep again, and likely does a lot more research because the "worst of the worst" (at least those in public eye) have already fallen under his pen. They had to have, given the number of them he nerfed in those first five days.

So he puts his sleep schedule back in place, starts doing more thorough research; that knocks his time down to about six hours a day to write names, give or take depending on the day. After Ryuk appears, there's only two more days before the broadcast. In those two days, using my prior calculations, Light likely killed around 5,760 additional people in those two days.

Putting his kill count as of the Lind. L. Tailor broadcast at a little over 27,000 people :D

(Then of course he levels out to twenty-four people per day once it comes out that L thinks Kira is a student, which is a FAR more drastic change from fucking over 4,000 per day. Really highlights how his priorities switched from cleaning the world to playing his fun new game with L lmao).
