things i noticed/thoughts about most recent rewatches of dps (plus laserdisk deleted scenes):
whenever theres a group scene i've started watching the characters that the story isn't focusing on to see what they do and i've been having a fun time with that. pitts and cameron specifically seem to almost always be doing something interesting in the background.
hopkins!!!! my favorite minor character who somehow got character development despite having like 2 lines!!!! the last guy to stand on the desk but he did it!!!
sometimes i do like to think about what the rest of the students thought about the dead poets society, esp in alternate timeline neil lives dps keeps meeting universe. like yeah theres this guy in their class whose one of the most credited students in the school and we think he maybe started a cult. idk though. but that group runs out into the woods every few days to do god knows what and one of them keeps talking about "dead poets honor" whatever that means and holy shit welton star student neil perry started a cult.
i watched the movie with headphones. and maybe it's because ive seen this movie Far too many times and mabe i'm listening too hard but it was Really obvious sometimes when audio was added in post production. llke in the sweaty toothed madman scene when you can hear laughing and to be fair the camera is behind their heads. but it does Not look like anyone's laughing. my favorite is at the end of the phone call to chris scene where knox is like i'm gonna seize the day!! and runs up the stairs and the poets are cheering him on and neil is sort of yelling "carpe!!!!" and i could be wrong but i'm like 75% certain that the person singing is Also rsl so now neil is just speaking two times at once somehow. anyways it didn't ruin the experience for me or anything it was maybe just a little bit funny to notice but very sorry if this did ruin anyone's viewing.
people talk a lot about how rsl and ethan hawke really made their characters what they are but i have to add dylan kussman to that list. I get the impression that older versions of the movie didn't really give as much depth to cameron and watching dylan kussmans performance is like. he Knew who his character was so fucking well and it shows!! like the deleted scene of them getting clubs assigned. like i could tell So Much about cameron from that scene
for how little she actually appeared, there is an emphasis put on the fact that neil's mom smokes pretty frequently. and i think that's interesting considering neil is one of two poets shown actively smoking. neil's mom doesn't appear for very long in the movie but during that time it definitely seems like the movie is intentionally making parallels between the two, particularly in the last argument with neil's father. neil and his mother are both sitting for almost the whole time, which contrasts with his father who is standing. they are both almost powerless in this scene. they stand up at almost the same time. anyways there's a couple different possibilities for what this could mean? that i've though of? 1. to show that neil's mother is in a similar situation to the one neil is in in regards to neil's father and 2. maybe a stretch here but the theory that neil inherited his mental illness at least partially from his mother. i'm pretty sure 1 was fully intentional on the directors part, not entirely sure about 2 though
unmanned flying desket scene: it's probably cause he and ethan wrote the scene themselves but the way rsl talks in this scene feels more like the way he talks in general than the rest of the script. like briefly neil perry is talking in rsl's voice. one of my absolute favorite scenes though the sarcastic dialogue is so good.
the light of knowledge at the first shot of the film vs. todd standing on his desk at the last shot of the film paralel
#there was a whole additional part of this post that was about knox and charlies relationship with their parents#but it ended up being half of what i wrote here and i still had more to add so i'm making that a separate post#that should be posted in a few days i'm not a fast writer#neil perry#richard cameron#gerard pitts#todd anderson#dead poets society#dps#hopefully coherent

Rating tmf ships but I come up with the wackiest rating systems because im insane
jailey - one if you cant look at the crowd look at me okay out of two princess stickers
Classic. It's not one of my favorites but defienetly in the A category. They have a good buildup and great chemistry. I think nobody would argue against that they're probably going to be endgame and I'm fine with that.
jaisy - is this really how you're gonna leave things out of two childhood friends
They're one of my favorites. Daisy's always there for Jake and Jake is always so kind to her. I wish we could have seen Jake being there for Daisy with her problems as well but Sean slid in there(not really complaining but alas). I really hope we see more progress in their relationship in season 2 although I think season 2 will be focusing more on jailey.
jean - one idk out of where did this come from
I dont find them as appealing as other ships but defienetly not my least favorite either. They're cute. I guess. Not much to say tbh I havent really thought about how a romantic dynamic would be between them.
jander - one hear me out out of hate isn't strong enough of a word
I havent really interacted with the tmf fandom much so idk how ya'll treat non canon ships that arent drake but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I like this ship. I also love lander ofc and thats the beauty of multishipping. But yeah I think jander is nice. B tier imo.
jia - 8.5/13
Ahhhhhhhhhhh. The sweet scent of unrequited love. I'm not that much of a big fan of them but I like the angst. Also they look good together lol.
jilly(?) - one slap to the face out of however many jake ships there are
Sorry Jake x Millyshippers, not my cup of tea. I just dont see much appeal to it really. But you do you gang. (No but seriously hwo many Jake ships are there?)
juke - why so serious out of jake's favorite jacket that he got from a thrift store down in blah blah blah...
Nottt for me. Don't have much to say about them. D tier.
drake - endless thoughts of what could have been out of its as if we never were
I'm afraid it was never casual guys. But jokes aside, Drew paralelling the people that canonically have a crush on Jake(or do in subtext) is just so dear to me. Like yesss feedmy delusions. I love the concept of unrequited love on Drew's end and Jake having no idea until it's too late. ("I'm not in love with you anymore." "I didnt know you ever were") They have so much capacity for angst and I love that.
drakailey - boaf? Boaf out of HEAR ME OUTT
Guys hear me out. Can't decide between Drake and Jailey? Have them both. But honestly I really like this ship. It's a fun dynamic to think about what can I say. Also they need more content tmf fandom I am begging you.
Lander - 10/10
I saw an edit of them that was Zander saying how he's "not like Stacy yknow" and Luke was like "Yes, and?" and I think that's beautiful. Their relationship is nicely balanced and healthy. I just wish the fandom would stop making Luke Zander's parent, always telling him to "calm down". They're widely mischaracterised in the fandom which Zander really isn't that hard to mischaracterise so idek how yall do that...
Milliot - how does this work out of one cactus with flowers
Don't get me wrong, I like them. I really liked them when they were first introduced and I am really glad they got a bit more fleshed out in the spin off. I really liked Elliot's character. What confuses me is that I'm usually not a huge fan of the nerd x troublemaker trope. But they work because Milly's not an asshole to other people (Except zoey but she highkey deserves it sooo)
Droey - three sappy nicknames out of fifteen "busy weekends"
I don't. Like this ship. No matter how much I dislike(half true) Drew nobody deserves to get cheated on. Zoey's an immature girl and she really needs to grow up (side eyes the jomies cameo in the spinoff). I know a particular of the fandom likes to make them be in sort of a "lavender relationship" and I'm not really against that I'm just talking about their canon selves.
Dria - we got rejected by jake out of pretty girls walk like this (if somebody understands the references I'm making I'm kissing you)
I meaannnnn... I just don't think Drew would go after his cheating ex's ex best friend. Now that I put it like that it doesn't sound too bad... I'm not opposed to it but I wouldn't really go out of my way to look up content for them.
Zia - 4.7/10
I'm really not sure about this yall. Not a big fan of it though. I guess I could say I'm neutral.
Saisy - three misunderstandings out of one red rose
They're cute, they have chemistry, what can I say? I'm not really a huge fan but im not against it either. I like it. B tier.
henriam - two best friends out of one room
(see what I did there? haha) They're just such a fun ship I dont really have that much to say honestly. They will kiss.
Driam - 8/10
I don't LOVE it but you know what I do love? Ya guessed it! It's the angst potential. Ooh one sided driam... with one sided henriam as well... wowww... yummy
Jenry- two dorks out of one hero academia
Pretty cute. Not my favorite but I do like it. :3 They're just so sillyy.
There are soooo many ships!!! I think I'l make a part 2 for this. This post is getting a bit too long.

Carolâs Blue Ford Mustang (or "Consumed Part 2")
TWDDD 1x6 Coming Home ended with a scene of Carol searching for Daryl. Personally Iâm thrilled to see Carol again, partly because I love her (I know, controversial...) but also because she's tied up in so much of the symbolism we see around Beth. In this case, it's the hints of a "Consumed Part 2" that particularly thrills me.
I had already seen a spoiler pic of Carolâs stunt woman in a Blue Ford Mustang, so I knew going into the episode that there was a chance we'd see Consumed-related symbolism. And holy moly I was not disappointed!
Iâll do a post on license plates eventually, because thatâs a rabbit hole in its own right. But for now, letâs appreciate that the license plate on Carolâs blue Ford Mustang, 502AV2A, points directly towards TWD 5x2, which is the episode when Carol and Daryl left searching for Beth. And when they did, it was in a car with this license plate: LC6M187. Keep this in mind, Iâll get back to it.
Iâve touched on the significance of the cars in TWDU in posts before (here and here), and the news of a blue Ford Mustang made me super happy. Weâve only seen it in a short scene, so I wonât expand on it too much, but I do want to say a couple of words about why it thrills me so intensly.
First of all, there's the role it plays in the scene. With Carol behind the wheel, it comes up behind Darylâs bike, itâs one eyed (tape over the right headlight = Sirius symbolism), and it took a bullet. So plenty of interesting stuff already, parallels and retellings of what happened in 5x6 Consumed and 5x8 Coda. Then we see Carol knock out the guy driving Darylâs motorcycle, and we see him wake up. He wakes up in the trunk of the car.
And if that's not enough, he's left in there for an unknown length of time. Time will tell if Carol returns to let him out. I think she will, but it doesn't really matter.
All of these things are variations of a sequence of events myself and many other TDâers theorize possibly happened to Beth after Coda.
So, why is the blue Ford Mustang important?
First of all, itâs blue (here).
Second, itâs a Mustang.
I talked about Mustangs and horse symbolism in Trunk Resurrection 2.
We saw a yellow Ford Mustang in TWD 2x1 What Lies Ahead, when the group got stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. This was around the time when Sophia ran off. They left supplies for her on the Mustang, along with a note about how theyâll come by every day. We later learned that Sophia likely died soon after running off, but had she been alive long enough to get back to the car, the supplies would have saved her, and TF would have come by eventually. The Mustang represents a hope and an opportunity to survive even when the odds are against you.
Take a look at the license plate of the yellow Ford Mustang from 2x1:
Yup, itâs the same as on the car that Carol and Daryl used to search for Beth. LC6M187.
A Mustang is a horse, which means it tied to the Buttons symbolism.
It is also tied to the scene from 5x11 Them, when Maggie found a car with a trapped walker in the trunk. We saw a sea horse key ring attached to the car keys Maggie used to open the trunk, and we know that walker was supposed to remind her of Beth, because it was confirmed on The Talking Dead.
We also knew it was a callback to Beth because of this scene from 4x11 Still:
And finally, there's this guy. Daryl's brother Merle. Disappeared in season one, presumed dead, only to return in season 3.
Here seen enjoying a drink before making his final sacrifice, drawing walkers in to ambush the Governor rather than handing Michonne over, as was the original plan. There are many paralells between Beth and Merle, and interestingly, the license plate of the car he drove when leading the walkers to ambush the governor looks familiar:
It's LC6M187 again. Same as on the yellow Ford Mustang where TF left supplies for Sophia. Same as on the car Daryl and Carol drove when following the Grady car with the white cross. Merle sacrificed himself to save Michonne and TF.
Carol's blue Ford Mustang from TWDDD 1x6 has a licence plate that directly points back to 5x2 Strangers, when they left to search for (and eventually found) Beth. The license plate points us to 5x2 for a reason.
We're about to see âConsumed Part 2â, and again, they will find Beth.

@xehanortsreport i have Thoughts TM i have to ramble about -
j;ladfka I'm so glad you liked him! and like! you picked up on so many of the load bearing details i put in! like -
like ok so bbs!eraqus and xehanort read like the religious trauma brothers in a vacuum, with eraqus doubling down in a maladaptive attempt to protect the wayfinders and xehanort deciding if the storebought religion wasn't able to create a good world, he'd make his own! and then khux's lost master backstories doubled it down, and dark road tripled it. it's all religious trauma going down!
( I know current canon suggests that Scala recreated itself in a vacuum since many of the disney worlds were stuck repeating their disney film stories on loop until they finished cooking, but I personally headcanoned it as the remains of the khux squad meeting up with japanese christians, dutch merchants and jesuits leaving Tokugawa Era Japan World after the edict of 1635 banning christianity. Having to share a world and everyone having just gotten out of Major War Stuff would lead to a new religion synthesizing itself pretty fast.
The general Church of Light varies in being chill and fun to being completely wild as most religions do, but Scala's branch's obsession with light and purity and it's evolution into a theocracy meant that it slide into YIKES! pretty fast.
...I'm still not sure how to get everyone on scala being out of norse mythology yet. WELP... the problems with developing headcanons before new material comes out lmao )
Before Dark Road came out, the headcanon was that a big step in Xehanort's fall was that he destroyed Scala, in part because of that YIKES! LIGHT! energy and in part becaues luxu was like heyyyy i fuckin hate those guys can you help a guy out? which would lead to xehanort feeling like he's on a path of no return and eraqus's tripling down on isolating himself/religious stuff that leads to his uhh. unique bbs parenting style.
(Luxu, between his Plans and his loneliness as the one lost master still around waiting for the others to come back, was watching the increasing cultural valorization of the lost masters/the keyblade war with increasing ire. I tend to characterize luxu on the more antagonistic side BUT i think even a very chill luxu would be having a terrible time watching it all.)
Also making Eraqus the leader of a bunch of sword wielding mystic monks who get disrupted by an authority figure befriending one of them and convincing him to go off the rails for a greater good tickles me as a star wars fan.
(I know you definitely caught the lanif final boss fight/kh3 final boss fight paralells, but did you catch the paralells between lanif boss fight and eraqus vs terra boss fight? hey xehanort why did you put terra through the same traumatic experience you had a day before you try and bodyjack him?)
KH1 had such an emphasis on magical-scientific research that was doubled down with KH2, how magic was as much a science as anything else, how computers were basically magic to sora and co - I already had magic system brainrot from the final fantasies in general but i really wonder how magic and science are intertwined in this verse!! You can physically study the human soul if you're willing to be super unethical about it! If Kingdom Hearts functions as an afterlife, can you storm it? How does having a magical sword that lets you rip souls out or alter them make things weird?
(which i know kh proper is not likely to tackle outside of Keyblade Ethical Drama but kh has enough interesting concepts to play with that get tossed to jump on newer concepts i'm gonna run away with it anyway)
(plus like! insulin itself is a life saving thing, imagine what people could do if they could use magic to treat diabetes instead of having to deal with the complications of buying and storing insulin.... medical magic has got to be fascinating )
Chu and I made Scala's noblility star themed specifically to set up the Castor & Pollux thing!! Sometimes two people can be soulmates platonically as a treat! Lanif ended up organically evolving as someone with a healthier relationship to his homework than xehanort, who couldn't go back as much as he could vs xehanort drawn back to the destiny islands over and over again despite himself... But he was specifically written to have a very neutral opinion of both light and darkness vs literally everyone else in kingdom hearts. the fandom discusses if dark can be good/light evil and i wanted to dig into that more - or if like. they're just magic too. its not what you have its how you use it. Stop putting human values on magic! It's just magic!
(Something something darkness being stigmatized makes people fear themselves makes their darkness stronger etc, a bad loop?? )
(Something something me reading Dark Road last week for this write up and going D: at Baldr gettin locked away and being eaten by darkness. scala thsi wouldn't be a problem if you'd treated him normally!)
There's also something about how Lanif and Xehanort come from very different worlds and circumstances, but on Scala, they're both Black Offworlders TM and have each other's backs. I was shooketh when you blogged about Xehanort's hair since I was working on the section about Lanif's hair and his decision to double down on being Black And Space Egyptian - no matter what either of them do, their chosen presentation will get Politicized so they've got to prepare accordingly...
(and like!! Xehanort ends up being moved into a role or being projected on a lot in his first life and after becoming Terranort/Ansem Seeker/Xemnas - even Eraqus who was so fond of him keeps on demonizing him or putting him on a pedestal. He should get at least one person in his life who's trying to see him as he is, not as he should be. I don't think he always communicated it great? but dark road had me WHERE THE OTHER ADULTS IN THIS CRISIS?? which was part of the tragedy inherant in the story, xehanort having to take on the responsiblity of killing a guy so young, but also HELLO??? )
(...which leads of course to the new tragedy, where lanif cannot save every student he has, and he cannot help xehanort if xehanort thinks he doesn't need saving. the slow breakdown of a relationship until the sudden realization it is too late. uhhh i cried a LOT writing the fall of scala section can you tell xD;)
uhh final thoughts
the student lanif was going to go see was kairi's grandma. i think kairi's grandma can have a keyblade as a TREAT. (specifically treasure trove, though she does use radiant garden's Ragnarok keyblade for a time as queen before she retires) (it's mostly for royalty stuff TM ) ( id retire too if ansem the wise took the throne from me)
jackal time jackal time jackal time, he's an mmo healer and he WILL dps with his cool familiar all the time

It's oc time, tumblr!!
Name: Lanif Castor, formerly Yaniv Khouri
Species: HumanÂ
Homeworld:Â born Black River Delta, lives Scala ad CaelumÂ
Age: late 50s (time of Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road), mid 60s (time of death)
Occupation: Professor/Medical Biomagus/Keyblade WielderÂ
Job Class: White Mage/Summoner/Black Mage
Relationships:Â
Xehanort: student, quasi-son
Eraqus: student, adoptive nephewÂ
Weapon: Blue Blooming Lotus (Keyblade)
Gender:Â MaleÂ
(More under the cut!)
Black River Delta
Lanifâs homeland is a combination of floodplain and desert centered around the enormous river that gives the world itâs name. The river runs black with the amount of sediment it carries, along with the sheer amount of fish, boats, megafauna and people that rely on it. The three seasons are Flood, Farm and Harvest, relying on the yearly rise and fall of the river; weather that gets below freezing, much less snow, is a once a century scenario.Â
Being an agricultural powerhouse near a locus of gummi ship routes meant that Black River Delta became a center of trade, culture and science centuries ago and remains one to this day. Much like Agrabah, it retains a skepticism for the reliance on magic common on worlds like Radiant Garden and Scala ad Caelum; although magic practitioners are more common than on Agrabah, they often approach magic as a science rather than a spiritual phenomenon.
Having been conquered by others and conquering others back many times over in itâs long history, Black River Deltaâs monarchy has developed the kind of family tree and drama usually only seen in long running soap operas. All royal decrees are translated into five languages to ensure the majority of the incredibly varied population can understand them, and religious freedom is not so much a right as a necessity given the amount of ways the many faiths that were born or introduced intertwined among each other.Â
Backstory
Once Upon a Time....
Lanif Castor, born Yaniv Khouri, was born fifth of seven in a rural village far away from the drama and bustle of the capitol. He was a quiet, serious child who would help on the family farm by weeding plants or making sure the goats didnât wander off; as his older siblings grew more interested in continuing the family farm, he grew interested in the spiritual and practical tasks of the village mortician, who took him under his wing as a potential apprentice.
When Yaniv was fourteen, his parentsâ house collapsed with them and his two younger siblings inside due to a fault in one of the walls and an otherwise harmless sandstorm. Running home to find the house buried in sand, Yaniv started digging with his bare hands, only to be overcome with a sense of certainty - there was a way he could get them out easily, but it would leave him with responsibilities for the rest of his life. Was he willing?
Of course he was.
His keyblade manifested. Yaniv used it to sweep away the sand.Â
He was able to dig his siblings out safely. Unfortunately, he wasnât able to get to his parents in time.Â
In the aftermath, the mortician sent a message to a larger village to try and found out why, exactly, his apprentice had spontaneously manifested a magic sword. The priest in the next village sent word to the village in a nearby town, and she contacted another city -Â
It wasnât long until a keyblade wielder came to the little village in Black River Delta with an explanation and an offer. Keyblades came to those with worthy hearts, and Scala ad Caelum would teach those worthy ones how to wield them responsibly. Theyâd even offer a stipend in order to offset the loss of a pair of hands from the family farm - modest for Scala ad Caelum, but a fortune in a village so far from Deltaâs capitol.Â
It meant leaving home, possibly forever. It meant saying goodbye to his siblings, his ambitions, his teacher, the goats, and the river. Yaniv took it the opportunity, intent on supporting his family.Â
Leaving HomeÂ
The change was stark. Scala ad Caelum was a city on a vast archipelago (too humid and cool) on the ocean (too big) where the streets were narrow and the buildings tall (too crowded) and the basic assumptions of the others at the school he was enrolled in were too strange.
Scala ad Caelum had been founded in the ashes of the Keyblade War; it venerated light and keyblades alike, and the world had ritualized communication and emotion to free it from darkness, and saw the keyblade as a holy tool - words taken from the Church of Light itself. Strong emotions were to be repressed and individual action was to be aligned with the greater good in order to prevent a repeat of the war; society calcified into classes. As more Scalans began to lust for the keyblade as a sign of prestige rather than a tool for good, fewer and fewer of them manifested one, leading to an offworld recruitment campaign that many Scalan nobles resented and envied in turn.Â
As such, while Yaniv Khouri was considered a reserved and intelligent teenager at home, in Scalaâs most prestigious academy he came across as blunt, overly emotive, obnoxiously pagan, and obviously rural. His classmates either avoided him or tried to pick fights; well meaning teachers pushed him to convert as a solution to the issue. (And being one of the few arab-african students on a world with a population of mostly east asian and european descent did not help.)Â
His one ally came from an unlikely corner: Xine Pollux, the youngest daughter of an old blood Scalan noble family and inheritor of the Master Defender keyblade. She was more interested in maintaining the martial tradition of the family than the political, and increasingly annoyed with the attempts by ambitious classmates to drag her out of the knightly footsteps she was quite happy to follow in thank you very much, and into the realm of marriage alliances and violence with words instead of fists.Â
Yaniv and Xine found fellow spirits in each other, both wanting to get offworld to do good and get away, excel in their studies, and also get a little peace and quiet; they offered each other mutual chicanery in the name of helping each other, Xine helping Yaniv pick a Scalan name to pass better and teaching him world customs, and Yaniv, now Lanif, was one of her few classmates, then associates, then friends, to respect and stick by the strict principles she held herself to.Â
He went home for summer vacation. He came back with his hair impeccably braided, three months worth of coffee beans, and the goal of becoming so much better than his classmates that theyâd have no choice but to shut up and sit down.Â
And then he did.
Magic, combat, history, maths, etiquette - he threw himself into it all with the red hot energy that came from spite - and then, as he discovered more and more about magical healing, with burning interest. When he and Xine were approved to fight as keybearers, they went as a team, Xine as tank and offense and Lanif as healer, support and mage.Â
Growing UpÂ
As Xineâs parents and older brothers succumbed to old age or dangers of being active keybearers, she had to spend more time helping with the political side of being a noble; Lanif used the opportunity to begin courses to hone his white magic from general use in combat to handy for more specialized emergencies.Â
And when XIne became head of her noble house after the abrupt death of her final living brother, having quit taking active missions to take care of him in his final days, Lanif had worked his way through medical school and was alternating between clinical work and being sent out on healer-specific keybearer missions, and spending what little free time he had left stress cooking and helping Xine deal with the mounting paperwork.Â
Xineâs House Pollux was old, but itâs power had dwindled with itâs population; the family had tended their resources well, but manpower was low. Itâs sibling House Castor had died a generation back; Xine alone held the pull of two noble houses and all their holdings, and with Scalaâs obsession with lineage dating to the Keyblade War and increasingly batshit politics, sheâd have little ability to get anything done with people begging for marriage alliances -Â
Unless she revived the old House Castor and gave it to her pagan offworlder friend. Lanif accepted the responsibility with glee, despite knowing how itâd put a bigger target on his back; the two of them had spent their youth fighting evil in the shape of monsters, and now that they were getting into their thirties, it was time to fight it in the shape of society. Scala ad Caelumâs isolationism and obsession with light was growing worse, and someone had to try and hit the brakes.
(Or disappear for three months and come back pregnant with nary an explanation. Rumors abounded about the parentage of little Eraqus Pollux - but being born a near copy of his mother dispelled a great deal of them. Xine never told.)
Teacher TimeÂ
Time flew between the politics and the parenting. Lanif discovered a passion for translating nonmagical medical procedures into spells into materia, where even a layman could instantly cast the spell to provide treatment - useful for chronic conditions that otherwise required constant synthesis of a delicate hormone, like insulin, or to replace kidney or liver function to reduce reliance on dialysis machines. He moved on from clinical work to medical research, which was easier to balance with his duties as a Head of House and a keybearer -Â
And was eventually invited to teach at the same prestigious school for nobles and keybearers he attended once. His prestige was growing enough to outweigh his infamy, and some of Lanifâs enemies on Scala hoped that distracting him with teaching would dilute his influence - which it did, only to be replaced with him immediately working to reform the school that had given him so much trouble in his teen years.Â
It was at Scalaâs school and his student labs that Lanif would encounter the roses he would become famous for in his final years - great rosebushes that had endured the archipelagoâs monsoons and centuries of students to engulf entire swathes of wall and tower, climbing several stories up to the rooftops. As Lanifâs medical experimentation went from the physical to the metaphysical, he used the hardy roses to begin to cultivate small amounts of both light and darkness - transforming the difficult to handle raw magics into safe to handle dilutions for his own research.Â
Eraqus grew up with the support and nurturing of his mother and his uncle, but found navigating relationships with his peers tricky, feeling as though like and dislike were measured out by opinions on his famous and infamous guardians rather than any personal feelings for him. He developed a smiling facade to keep people at a safe distance while remaining friendly, eventually testing how much he could mess around with his studies and still pass due to his famous lineage - though whether it was to make a point or because of the increasing strain of his self-imposed isolation, he was not able to articulate.
(Lanif flunked him, cementing his own reputation as a hardass teacher and Eraqusâs as Tardy Fleetfoot.)
And then, on one cool summer day, a portal was ripped on one of Scalaâs beaches, and an offworld boy with a keyblade stumbled through.Â
XehanortÂ
No one really considered the boy wandering the streets of Scala of much import until he brought out his keyblade - and then people were very interested in a kid with no id and no money and an entire magic sword was doing wandering around Scala.Â
It was lucky that Eraqus was out on the boardwalk fishing. He saw the commotion and vouched for Xehanort before things could escalate, and innocently asked if he could ask his mother to come help clear things us.Â
Xine and Lanif promptly came down like a pile of bricks and brought Xehanort home. Xehanort haltingly explained things - heâd found a way to Scala to find out how to use a keyblade, he didnât want to go home, heâd been told that anyone with a key would be welcomed, and he was rattled by the less than warm welcome.Â
Lanif, with his own less than stellar first year in Scala running through his head, promptly dipped into his emergency funds while Xine pulled strings to get Xehanort an ID, a scholarship and a place in the dorms faster than Xehanort could kick Eraqusâs ass at chess.
Xehanort and Eraqus would have hit it off without Eraqusâs family swooping in to help, but borrowing a room in his house and deciding yeah, sharing a dorm room with him would be cool just speed-ran the friendship. Xehanortâs wonder and joy at a new world made Eraqus engage with it once more, and Eraqusâs earnestness and willingness to wear his heart on his sleeve were a salve for Xehanort after what had been a very bad year.Â
( Meanwhile, Scalaâs more conspiratorial wing of the church checked in on the chosen one who had been sent to a very special island to be free of the corruptive influences of the newer, more liberal Scala and had three very bad realizations in quick succession: one, the childâs caretaker had died a year previous, two, the child had been dumped into foster care about it, three, no one was really sure where the child had gone. Whoops! Cue a scramble to figure out where the FUCK their chosen one went. )
And as the two of them began school together as part of the keyblade wielder class, apprenticed under Master Odin, they were inseparable. While Eraqus continued to mostly float through his classes, Xehanort studied like a man possessed; while Xehanort found fighting unwieldy and slow, Eraqus took to combat like a fish to water. They challenged each other, pushing each other in skill level and knowledge as they grew, and grew close to the few other keyblade wielders who were learning alongside them.
Lanif, for his part, tried to provide Xehanort with tutoring and guidance as he forged forward on his path, sometimes falling on the side of strict as he gave him additional lessons. Scala demanded twice as much from offworlders like them, and Lanif would not let Xehanort be torn apart by itâs judging claws - even if it did, at times, frustrate Xehanort. He tried to recreate old meals Xehanort remembered from home, and showed him his own home cooking, and even if their conversation was stilted at times - he became someone Xehanort could come home to happily.Â
They would have liked it to be official. It would have been good. But it was not allowed. Lanifâs political power was considered too great as it was, and so his enemies insinuated that he wanted to use Xehanort, manipulate him - and so for the sake of Xehanortâs privacy and safety, Lanif abstained for the time.Â
....it would be a few years later, at the end of this idyllic period, that Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road takes place. (Which, Iâve only read the script and not watched it so, grain of salt on how well Iâve got all the details lmao) What was supposed to be a simple Mark of Mastery exam escalated into the near-unbalancing of multiple worlds, an attempt to destroy the world in the name of light, an attempt to destroy the world in the name of darkness, and the murder of most of Xehanortâs fellow keybearing students.Â
In the aftermath, the world was in shock; Eraqus and Xehanort shot into celebrity status as the two who had survived, who had saved the day - Eraqus took to avoiding the fame as much as he could as he tried to silly his way out of his feelings, while Xehanort smiled his way through it as turmoil grew in his heart.Â
(Xine gave Eraqus a place to hide and lick his wounds. Lanif tried to do the same for Xehanort, but Xehanort couldnât stand the thought of showing such vulnerability, even around someone he knew and trusted. In the end, none of the adult keybearers had come in time to stop the killings; it had been up to Xehanort alone.)
Lanif could not bridge the gap between himself and Xehanort, though he tried; he was never particularly good at a bedside manner on his own, and it was worse when it was something important like this; worse when his duties as a teacher and doctor had kept him from noticing Baldr festering in in his own darkness, when he only knew Xehanort and Eraqus were in danger well after the time had passed.Â
He could not force Xehanort to bridge the gap before he was ready. He could only make sure he was ready to reach out fo rhim when the time came -Â
And he could turn his studies fully to light and darkness. Darkness had overcome Baldr, but could it have been stopped with an application of light - not as a weapon but as medicine? Light and darkness in high enough measures affected the personality and temperament; he had dabbled in treating keybearers who had been exposed to too much of both, but could he formalize it? Get rid of the stigma against darkness so that the fear of darkness did not make events escalate again?Â
Well, probably not, but he had to try.Â
Scalaâs Chosen OneÂ
Between Master Odinâs retirement and Xehanort taking and passing his own Mark of Mastery, Xehanort didnât need a new master - but there was always the possibility of, metaphorically, post-doc study. Lanif had taken on a few students in his time to train in white magic - and, once, in summoning - and had eagerly made plans for Xehanortâs graduation. They had both discussed light and darkness and their study eagerly, and Lanifâs hardy roses were beginning to bear fruit - literally, bearing safe to handle rosehips full of light and darkness for study.
But it would not come to pass.
Some weeks after passing the Mark of Mastery, Xehanort summoned a new keyblade - the great black key with one Gazing Eye, the keyblade of Scalaâs Great Founder. Heâd already been the center of attention as a survivor of Baldrâs massacre, but it doubled when he became the heir of that key.
Scala had been put together by the great Ephemer, who had spent his entire life rebuilding the city on the ruins of the Keyblade War; the only one who was more revered was the Great Founder, the single surviving Lost Master, who had left a holy book from which the Church of Light grew. Those who could wield the Founderâs Key were said to understand the Founderâs will, and would be brought into the church as figurehead and prophet as fast as possible.Â
....Luxu was not so thrilled about this. Heâd written the damn book as a guide to try and keep the surviving keyblade wielders from murdering each other before the Master of Masterâs plans could kick into gear. It wasnât supposed to be religious! And people kept on twisting things more and more out of context in the pursuit of thei own desires! He said no Unions, why are there 108 Houses?? Stop obsessing over the light! Â
The one good thing about it was that every decade or two, Scala spat out someone so deranged theyâd try and end the universe. One of them probably had to be whoever he was waiting for for the plan, right? And if not, it was funny watching them kill each other over self fulfilling prophecies. Heâd alternate between taking the body of a wielder and that of a priest or politician, pushing their obsessions further and further, trying to get the pot to finally boil the frog...Â
Xehanort had been his friend as Bragi. He was brilliant, and heâd become cynical, and he had his keyblade. Maybe he was the frog.Â
So Luxu shucked off his old body and took on that of Lucian Patine, bishop and politician for the Light. He could figure out that Xehanort was that missing Chosen One with a few strings pulled; when Lanif tried to invite Xehanort to be adopted properly, the paperwork went missing. Xehanort was being dragged into politics whether he liked it or not, judged quite literally by the entire world; it was easy enough to show up as a mentor, to offer guidance, to slowly but surely expose Scala ad Caelumâs rotten core -Â
Xehanort was already on the right path when Luxu had found him. All he needed was a little push and a few resources. They both needed the world to become better - Luxu would not see the other Lost Masters until then, and Xehanort would not find the justice he craved.Â
They spiraled together in mutual disgust for the world, and Luxu would find a new place to push xehanort every time, to drive him deeper down his path.
And - if he had his frog, his chosen one, did Luxu need this world to continue birthing wanna-be apocalypses every decade? Didnât Xehanort want a chance to destroy the pressure cooker that had created Baldr?
Xineâs work slowed from politics to her old hobby of blacksmithing as decades of fighting caught up with her. Eraqus, missing his friend and growing more fanatic about light, isolated himself at the monastic world heâd been assigned to. Lanif studied light and darkness in his lab and tried to help his students and waited and waited as days turned to weeks, weeks to months, waiting to hear from Xehanort one more time.Â
The Last Day
Lanif was supposed to be visiting home, but one of his old students was pregnant and had invited him to the birth and christening; heâd moved his vacation days around so that he could leave a little later and visit Hikari on Radiant Garden. If it was a boy, heâd be Ansem; if a girl, Kairi.
It was the reaction of the roses that let him know something was wrong. The darkness roses hissed and let darkness ooze from their buds, making the air stink. The light roses grew stiffer, their rosehips shining every brighter.
Which would only happen if the ambient darkness in the atmosphere raised exponentially.
He slammed a door open - and, again, there was the smell of darkness in the air, almost spicy, and the sky was turning dark even though it was mid-morning. There were terrible rents in the sky, black pools dotted with glowing yellow.Â
Not the night, but another world. Â
The Heartless werenât the most common enemy Lanif had faced, but he could recognize them. Could recognize the portals to the World of Darkness with a fear that shuddered down to his bones.Â
There werenât many Keyblade Wielders left this generation. Not many people had a consistent way to get off-world. But with that many Heartless coming, the best way to save people would not be to fight, but to flee.
So he flew on his Keyblade and started them running. Portals offworld, clumsy ships - the students funneled in, since the school was closest, and then -Â
He couldnât go home. Xine would be fine on her own, organizing the evacuation there; to go find her would only distract both of them from the task at hand. Theyâd split to tackle major problems hundreds of times before. He would trust her to survive to the end, just as heâd do his best to survive so he could see her again.Â
Eraqus was offworld, thank goodness, still moping about -Â
Xehanort. Where was Xehanort? In town, probably - Lanif could check the port area next to the school, he was going there anyway, not a distraction, it would be fine -Â
The port was swarming with Heartless. The great clock had been cracked; boats were drowning in the harbor. On top of one of the old buildings was a person in black keyblade armor with a goatâs head as a helmet; they tore open another portal to the World of Darkness as he approached, staring down.Â
He couldnât go look for Xehanort if an enemy was there summoning Heartless. Besides, Lanif had spent a lifetime fighting Scala ad Caelum, trying to tear all its stupid rules to shreds so itâd be a little more fair, a little better, but that didnât mean all the people there deserved to be eaten alive.Â
So he attacked.Â
Lanif was primarily a doctor in his later years, but that didnât mean heâd let himself lose his edge; you didnât get to making materia without being good at magic. He summoned his favored summon - Anpu, a black jackal whose healing and buffing were matched only by being extremely immune to instant death attacks -Â and started going ham with the magic, spamming Triple Blizzaga from range and swapping to Balloonga or Reflectga when the goat-head got too close.Â
The goat-headed warrior didnât summon a keyblade; they cast Flare, Firaga Burst, spells that alternated light and darkness, and even made the dark sky glow from an Ultima. It was -Â
Familiar. This had to be someone he knew hiding their keyblade. But who? Why?Â
âRun away,â said the goat head, voice raspy from the smoke coming from nearby buildings damaged in the fighting. He was unsteady on his feet, but his armor was holding up - for now. They were both fighting MP Exhaustion as well as each other at this point.Â
âI canât,â Lanif replied. His ears were ringing from getting slammed against the ground; he couldnât recognize the voice, he could feel his bones scraping together despite all the healing magic heâd used on himself. Pieces of his armor were beginning to break off; his summon had been pancaked against a wall minutes ago, an eternity ago. He tried to shove himself back to his knees anyway, using his keyblade as leverage to maintain his balance. âThereâs someone I have to protect.âÂ
âPeople always say that before they do something unforgivable.âÂ
âMaybe so. I donât care.âÂ
âAre you, too, full of false light? Hiding cruelty under your pretty declarations? Do you think youâve fallen to darkness, or is this rage of yours a holy light?âÂ
âI donât care about light and darkness,â Lanif declared as he dragged himself to his feet. âOr the Founder whose symbol youâre so happy to stick on your head. A heart is as much defined by light and darkness as it is by blood and vessel, or the body by hormone and sinew, or the brain by fat and flesh. Iâm stopping you from summoning more of these monsters, and then Iâm going home and taking my son out for coffee, like I promised him!âÂ
Lanif lunged forward, his keyblade tilted up to smash the helmet off or into his opponentâs face - despite how obviously telegraphed it was,his enemy didnât dodge - no, by his body language, he was shocked, but by what?
âAs if, old man.â
The blade slid through the hole in Lanifâs armor and into his side,up into the ribcage. Heâd been so focused on staying upright he hadnât noticed the man in white behind him until it was too late. He swung his keyblade back, striking his attacker, but it was too late; he fell to his knees, his vision going black at the edges.Â
Whatever was hit may not have been immediately fatal, but after this fight, and at his age? Even if he could manage a Curaga, he was pushing his luck to not bleed out.Â
There was a clatter as the goatâs head tumbled to the ground. He couldnât see either of them - it was an effort to keep his arms straight enough to keep him from collapsing.
âProfessor!âÂ
He was caught just before he collapsed, pulled into strong arms, his helmet pulled off carefully to free his braids in an explosion of silver and black. Xehanort was holding him - ash smudged, sweaty, alive - was casting whatever cure spells he could think of.Â
âIs now the time?â said a familiar, obnoxious voice. Lanifâs head wasnât clear enough to recognize it, even though he should, even though he knew it was the voice of someone whoâd taken something precious from him...Â
âShut up,â Xehanort snapped to the other man, and then looked down at him. âWhat have I done? I just wanted to - to make this worldâs cruelty stop.âÂ
What had he done? Lanif wasnât sure. Heâd been looking for him but he hadnât seen him until now, and there - was - something important, wasnât there - what was he worried about -Â
He reached up and cupped Xehanortâs face. âItâs fine. I know itâll be fixed now that youâre here.âÂ
âDonât say that!âÂ
âIâve always had the greatest confidence in you.â And his vision was dimming, holding only Xehanortâs tearful face in itâs shrinking diameter. âSorry for scaring you. Iâll be on my feet soon. Weâve still got to go out for coffee together. I missed you.âÂ
âI missed you too,â Xehanort said, holding Lanifâs hand to his face. Tears welled and dropped on Lanifâs armor. âDonât go. It wasnât supposed to end like this, you werenât supposed to be here - You should have run away!â
âHow could I run when... I didnât know where you were?âÂ
That just made Xehanort cry more. That wasnât - it shouldnât - Xehanort hated being seen crying.Â
âItâs alright,â Lanif murmured. He was - tired. Maybe he just had to - close his eyes -Â âItâs alright, son. Itâs ok, itâs ok.. itâs... â

The AftermathÂ
Xine Pollux survived, bringing a number of Scalan residents to the world her son had moved to. Other survivors went to nearby worlds as well; the largest group settled on Radiant Garden and would become a major cultural influence on the branch of the Church of Light that had developed there.Â
Nevertheless, the death toll was catastrophic. Centuries of knowledge were lost. The art of keyblade wielding dwindled.Â
No body was ever found, much to the upset of both Lanifâs Scalan friends and his family on Black River Delta. Lanifâs family on the Delta held a funeral that numbered hundreds - six siblings begat dozens of nieces and nephews and even more grandchildren, who heâd visited regularly for over fifty years.Â
Xine and Eraqus held their own small funeral, which grew larger as former students came, and people heâd saved during the fall of Scala. it turns out that despite his reputation for being abrasive, blunt and argumentative, heâd actually done a lot of good. It would jumpstart the transformation of his reputation from a controversial political figure to a renowned scientist and keyblade wielder, which would be further fueled by the popularity of the Auto-Cast medical materia that heâ engineered. By the time of Kingdom Hearts, heâd faded to a semi-famous historical figure who figured in several books and plays - and also several more that never were published as Eraqus and Xehanort kept on showing up to go âhey youâre not erasing his identity as an offworld polytheist to make the church of Light look good, right?â because even if they were fated to eventually try and kill each other, they both had some fucking standards.
Xine helped the refugees resettle and remained a resource as both a leader and someone with a vast cultural knowledge, but she was never the same after losing her home and her best friend in one fell day. She stayed at the monastery Eraqus had been assigned to when not traveling. When she died, Eraqus was left truly alone.Â
~
Xehanort sat at his desk, staring down a mess of papers - plans for Kingdom Hearts, for light, for darkness -Â
An old essay with a handwritten note and a fading coffee stain. Well done, Xehanort.Â
âIs this worth it?âÂ
Silence.
âIt has to be worth it.âÂ
Personality Quirks:
Due to a bad habit to burn the candle at both ends and a genuine love of coffee, Lanif has a severe caffeine addiction. God help anyone who gets between him and his beans. Likewise, him brewing someone a cup of coffee is one of those nonverbal affection signs that have more weight behind them than people may realize.Â
He also tried to keep up traditional cooking he learned as a child, but heâs had to adapt to Scalanâs tastes and ingredients - especially since Eraqus canât handle anything spicier than paprika.Â
Lanifâs keyblade is Blue Blooming Lotus. The hilt is carved dark wood, with a keychain dangle of a blue Egyptian water lily; the staff is a flat plank of dark river water suspended by magic; the âkeyâ is a tangle of blue Egyptian water lilies, which bloom when Lanif is happy, and revert back to buds when heâs upset. Blue has long reach, low critical rate and high magic stats, with an innate skill of MP Hastaga. Blueâs keyblade transformation is into a pair of floating water lilies Lanif uses as skates and a staff, with gameplay similar to the mobility and high magic potential of Soraâs Wisdom form, culminating in a Finish similar to Aquaâs Magic Pulse.Â
Lanif tends to wear long sleeves and layers (usually jellabiya modified to match Scalan fashion, with high collars and tightened sleeves, but sometimes Scalan-style haori for formal events) because most worlds are cold compared to Black River Delta; he mostly wears black because even if being a goth hadnât been invented in Scala yet, he is still a goth at heart.
His keyblade armor, likewise, is black with golden highlights. Since armor with animal motifs were popular among older keyblade wielders, he based his on the jackals native to Black River Delta. There was absolutely some point where he and Xine had an argument on if adding a tail would be âsick as hellâ vs âa liability in combat.â (Xine won. No tails!!)Â
Lanifâs summon, Anpu, is also a black jackal - a Persona, manifesting not an elemental being or a ghost but a reflection of his personality made manifest. Xineâs one of the few people who have gotten the full powerpoint presentation on what Anpu represents. Sheâs also quick to tease that as much as Anpu cut a dashing figure in public, if he got summoned for a long period or in private, he had a bad habit of begging for scraps off Lanifâs plate.Â
Every few months, Lanif will head to Olympus or Mirage Arena to blow off steam at a tournament and also enjoy the company of the other contestants dot dot dot. Scala wouldnât be too weird about the gay thing, but hooking up before marriage? Scandalous!Â
Battle Music (as player character):Â Rivers in the Desert - Persona 5 OST
Battle Music (as boss fight): Persona 3 - Battle For Everyone's Souls - Traditional Japanese Version - Hyuman

SpyxFamily episode 25:Â Â lessons on parenting
Or a reminder that Twilight is here for a very specific reason that we should not forget.
SxF episode closed season 1 with the first meeting between Twilight and Desmond Donavan. The animation encapsulated the same tension between Twilight/Loid that we perceived in the manga and with a beautiful play of lights and shadows conveyed the character duality, addressing the fact that, we like it or not, for the agent the mission goes first and above everything else.
I have a couple of thoughts about it:
1. it's sadÂ
Because Anya - cute, and small, and funny, and so many times rejected by other families - says that she doesn't know if his father loves her, and sometimes sheâs afraid of how he reacts when she shows him her poor school performance, but it's ok because she loves him and that's enough. And despite we know that Twilight cares about her, he still uses her as a cover, his family as a mask, their bonds as and excuse.Â
And yet, he uses the poor Damian - so love deprived, so lonely, so approval-seeking - to get closer to Donovan. All for the mission, of course, all for the greater good, but still: he is taking advantage of the untamed love of children for his purposes.
One of the main themes of the series (as also shown in the current arc in the manga) is what are we able to do in order to protect our loved ones. How far does Yuri goes with his torture to protect Yor? How many people should Yor kill for the sake Yuriâs smile? For how long Loid Forger is going to use Anya? Is the Handler truly worried about the Forgers future? And, what if the Desmonds and their detached love is a way of protecting their children, keeping them far and away of the danger? What if the experiments conducted on Anya by some hidden structure of the state were meant to create a super diplomat and not a war weapon?
As nations and countries and states conduct questionable operations in the spirit of their citizens safety, parents may be as ruthless when it comes to their children wellbeing.
I believe that at some point, Twilight will abandon his all-for-the-mission attitude and will think about his relationship with Anya - but is still a long run. (My suspicion is that the horrible scientist that didn't allow Anya to draw is going to be the real bad guy, but sssh đ¤Ť
2. There is also a lot of hope
Loid Forger doesn't understand Anya. Like, the poor guy is absolutely clueless when it comes to his daughter motives, plans and actions - who can blame him. The little girl is as adorable as random.
But he talks to Donavan and makes a wonderful hidden paralelism of parenting and politics, when he admits that he tries to accept her and set a common ground where they can meet and start listening to each other. The same low key diplomatic core embedded in Anyaâs talk to Damian.
And both talks lead to a brief but meaningful word exchange between father and son, and that's enough for now.
But it also leads to un unexpected development: Damian tomato red admitting that he really wants to get on we'll with Anya. Cutest crush ever.
PS: This post was written while in an airport stopover, sorry for the poor quality

Analysis Pro NH Anti NS
Naruto Manga Part 2
Part 11
While Neji is unconsious, Hinata takes his place to scout the area around them. Shino tells her to not overextend and she responds that the war is about protecting Naruto and that failure is not an option. She has an interesting flashback of Naruto. We see his flabbergasted reaction after seeing Hinata and he then puts out a big smile. Whatâs interesting about this flashback is that itâs most likely before Painâs invasion of Konoha because the building behind them seems to be intact.
Just before Hinata gets attacked by the Zetsu clones, Naruto comes out of nowhere and protects her. He apologizes to her for ârunning lateâ.
He reassure her that everythingâs alright now that he is here. He has a very proud smirk on his face. You can tell that he feels great about saving her.
Hinata apologizes for everyoneâs suspision of him and she then starts having doubts and starts feeling depressed, falling into an old self. She wants to protect Naruto so much, only to be protected instead. She begins to doubt. Naruto then does his deepest reading of emotions yet and senses her depression and comforts her by saying that she has saved him atleast twice now.
What were those two times she saved him? The Proud Failure Speech and Pain. Showing he remembers BOTH TIMES. The other times (as he says âatleastâ two times) could be referring to when she wanted to help him cheat in the exam and when she gave him some healing ointment. But still, this shows that he remembers both those times he thinks she saved him.
Which she did, if she hadnât done that Proud Failure peptalk he wouldnât have had the confident and motivation to fight Neji as he was scared out of his mind of fighting him. He most likely would have been killed as he was depressed beyond belief of fighting him and was really doubting himself. Thatâs why he told Hinata on the training grounds that his tough guy behaviour was an act and that he was in reality just really frustrated all the time. (Also foreshadowing their future relationship, being able to open up to her about something so personal).
And of course if she hadnât interfered against Pain, Naruto would have been taken by the Akatsuki and later been killed by the Bijuu extraction. (Also where was Sakura in all that? Since she knew he was being taken why didnât she do anything? It means she didnât care, Naruto deserves better than that).
Naruto reassures her that he can see her depressed feelings through her eyes and he then tells her that she is strong. Naruto doesnât even understand how romantic he makes himself sound (seeing emotions through eyes is defiantly something i would consider romantic. Also a paralell of Hinata being able to tell that he was the real Naruto by looking at his eyes). Everyone else seems to get the hint that Naruto likes Hinata and Neji even pairs them up as a couple later. Itâs often so that people around you can tell youâre true feelings for someone while you are completly blind to them. This is the case for Naruto anyway. He also has a flashback of Hinata jumping in on Pain. He knows who really saved him that day.
Hinata feels so confident after Narutoâs previous behaviour that she reveals that after the war ends sheâll be walking next to him, holding hands (which basically means she was gonna try to actually make a move on him. Since before that she didnât actually try to pursue a romantic relationship with him. Also a foreshadowing to an event that will happen soon). Lets analyze this for a moment. Kishimoto spending time to remind us of Naruto and Hinataâs moments, and also forge new ones, remind us of her drive. If anyone was doubting how it would end, this is the point you really should have stopped. Actually, likely should have many chapters ago.
Hinata asks if Narutoâs OK and he responds to her with a âHELL YEAHâ. Kiba comments on how he acts tough in front of Hinata. Remember that he saw what happened between them previously with the âin youâre eyesâ moment, so he now thinks that Naruto likes her. (Naruto hasnât realised himself though, his obvious feelings for her).
Naruto completly ignored everyone else when Hinata appeared. He only screams out her name. He is clearly very hypersensitive to her presence on the battlefield. Even though heâs acknowledged that sheâs strong, he is still very protective of her. Thatâs nothing new, we saw how he reacted to her getting stabbed by Pain and her fight with Neji in the chunnin exams.

Fazbear Frights: What We Found Analysis
Hereâs my analysis for What We Found, the third story in Gumdrop Angel. I wrote this as I read so it may be a little different than my previous analysis where I read the story first and went back.
If youâre a Michael Afton fan I highly recommend this. Also, thereâs possibly some insight into William Afton, Mrs. Afton, and Henry too, so itâs worth a skim.
Pg 144 '...a place thirty-some years forgotten' Just reconfirming FNAF 3 is 30 years past *one* of the FNAF closings, presumably FNAF 2 location.
Pg 145 "The whole building was giving him [Hudson] a headache." FIX THE VENTILATION BRUH
Pg 148 '...they were able to use salvaged derelict equiptment original to the old pizzerias.' Another confirmation of something we heard from Phone Guy.
Pg 147 "How old are you?" "Twenty-three, same as you." I think this gives us Michael's age during FNAF 3.
EDIT: This kept me awake last night. Obviously this is impossible because he has to be alive for at least 10 years before 1983, BUT maybe its just reconfirming FNAF 3â˛s year? 2023?
Pg 149 "Hudsan's dad died and his mom married Lewis, a ridiculous balding man who wore plaid vests and smoked a pipe" Did... Did this book just seriously imply Mrs. Afton left William for Henry? Really? (Yes, there's differences; the husband is dead and the man wears plaid 'vests' but it seems very odd to include that detail. This could just have been the writer's own imagination, though.) I have seen this as a fan theory and 100% explains the jealousy aspect of William, but I can't help but kinda hate it. I think this is very important, though, and probably Scott's intention. "This horrible little man [Lewis]... would make Hudson's next ten years a living Hell" This REALLY intrigues me given the context I just went over. The text implies Lewis was fairly neglectful to our main character / Michael stand-in Hudson. Maybe I'm wrong and for some reason Mrs. Emily left and went to William? XD Haha, I'm reading too much into this page. Maybe I'll come back to this later. I figure it's more of Scott possibly including double-details (contradicting stuff with the same character that really applies to two, which has been something I heavily pointed out in previous anaylsis on this blog) Having said that, I'm going w/the former because I can't imagine Henry being abusive (neglectful yes, abusive no) and he's never been portrayed that way in official works like William has in the novels.
Pg 150 "Hudson began to screw up in class...a product of spending the night in fear that his stepfather [Lewis]... [would] beat him just for the fun of it." Ooof. Big confirm on William actually being abusive. Unless we stick with the Henry theory for Lewis (combined with Midnight Motorist Henry theory / alcoholic). "...near-daily beatings..." "his mom started taking pills to get through the day..." So, whoever Mrs. Afton is, she was definetly not paying attention. But then, most people married to serial killers either don't notice because of denial (like this) or because the killer is so manipulative / careful they can't notice.
"Barry, who had red hair and freckles..." Yo?! Is that a description of Fritz?! These friends in the story could be the other kids Michael knew's stand-in's, aka the two gravestones with names he used (Fritz and Jeremy), as shown in the checks for the games and FNAF 6. I've long figured Michael was probably friends with the victims--it makes them easier, although riskier, targets [for William]. The two friends are male, too, like Fritz and Jeremy. If you're curious about Duane's description (our stand in for Jeremy), it's "tight black shirt... muscles... black hair long enough for a glossy ponytail..." I'm not sure if this matches anything found in the novels or contradicts them, though. (The novels = TSE trilogy)
"And so it went... until the night of the fire." For context, this is before FF burns down. We're learning of Hudson's life from his close friends in childhood, his father's death, his mother remarrying, to his abusive stepfather, to his grades slipping to this line. This would be a new fire not seen/mentioned in the games...
Pg 151 "...go to Charlie's for a sundae..." Really. Really Scott. Just gonna use this name again. OK. I'm not even gonna discuss this because it's probably irrelevant. *This is confirmed on pg 158 to be an ice cream shop. No lore relevance aside the annoying name coincidences Scott loves to troll with.
"This is not... an advance into enemy territory, a fight with demons, or a descent into Hell..." Uh, what? What is Hudson talking about? XD I'm only noting it because it seems so out of place. He's probably talking about video games or something.
Another note, although I don't have a specific reference since it is mentioned off-hand many times, is that Hudson keeps referring to his "history" which is implied to have kept him from getting a well-paying job and a girl he's crushing on doesn't know this "history" which is good for him. Seems good old "Michael Stand-In" has done some jail time or something. Edit: On pg 154/155 the girl asks Hudson, "Did you do it?" Seems he may have killed his stepfather or been involved with something else just as bad. Edit 2: No, I was thinking too deep into it. This probably refers to Evan's death at Fredbear's. DUH.
Pg 156 describes an actual "prize corner" in FF! What am I even reading? IIRC this is in FNAF 3, too. So they just hand out these scary gift boxes to people that complete the attraction? (Hudson says he *would* have fun handing out the scary toys to kids when this location opens--kind of a bully thing to do, eh?)
"[Hudson] avoid[ed] glancing in any of the mirrors..." I'm only pointing this out because it could be reference to one of two things. 1) We know because of one of UCN's music tracks, William has a fear of his reflection. Michael probably shares this trait, especially since 2) after Ennard and all... and later on pg 157 it also says, "he never wanted to face: himself" Sounds like guilt, my guy.
Pg 157 "blonde hair... blue eyes..." Hudson shares an eye color with Michael. It's possible Michael had blonde hair as a child and it changed to brown (it's common, something I personally went through being technically blonde/ blue eyed myself)
"He [Hudson] knew from personal experience that toys could turn from fun...to torture ina heart-beat" Fairly self explanatory. Either Hudson's worked at a creepy location before or he doesn't like remembering Fredbear's.
*checks how much is left.* There's still 35 pages (not counting back/front) left of this... This is gonna be a lot of notes.
Pg 158 Hudson doesn't have a car. Poor Mike, probably having to walk everywhere. Especially as a corpse.
Pg 160 This page describes many physical issues Hudson has that prevents him from entering the Navy, all from the abuse of Lewis. Obvious paralell to Michael becoming an undead [because his father sent him to CBPR indirectly causing his condition]
Pg 161 "How's your granny, Hud?... ...Is she still alive?" "I don't think she can die." Does anyone in the Afton family really 'die'? XD
Pg 162 These few pages discuss Hudson's grandmother. She's described as "a seer who claimed to know the future... ...wore big men's plaid flannel shirts with baggy jeans" Um, more plaid / flannel? AGH. STAHP. Lowkey, I would totally headcanon my Aunt Jen like this, though.
Pg 163 "Hudson's mom... the way she was before Hudson's dad had died... never... particularly warm and fuzzy... but... effiencient and responsible..." More about Mrs. Afton, so that's kinda neat.
"Hudson's dad was fun and attentive." There's a good Dad in this series?
"Unfortunetly, he also struggled with mental illness." "invisible low points" (Pg 164) Kinda reminds me of how Henry is described after Charlotte's death in the books.
Pg 164 "When Steven got himself into a bad deal that cost him his small business... he'd taken his life." Oh, it is Henry! SMH. Way to use confusing paralells. So, from our understanding thus far, Hudson's real father, Steven, is our Henry stand-in. His step-father despite being described similar to Henry, is actually our William stand-in. Fair game, Scott.
Pg 164 "...he [Hudson] was locked into a supply closet..." Oh shit, you guys. So, let me go on a tangent here, because this IS important! I just watched a retrospective on Sister Location and FNAF 6 earlier and one theory for Midnight Motorist was the person in the chair was the mother and the kid was Michael. I think this little line may confirm that. In fact, the story may be the key to figuring things out. Obviously, the line is a paralell to FNAF 4's scene in which Crying Child was locked in the supply closet of Fredbear's. I know some people, including Matpat, believe[d] CC was Michael, and in this book's context, it sort of works. This does contradict Step Closer and 1000 other things that make Michael the older brother, but maybe it's hinting at MM? Abusive stepdad (possibly Henry... maybe William is gone at this point), checked out Mom (hey, grey couch lady with Foxybro's font). IDK, but its definetly something to think about.
Pg 165 Lewis is mentioned as calling Hudson "nothing" and saying "you're nothing" on several occasions on this page. Just more abuse, for those accurate fanfic writers like me. Also I kinda wanna watch Morel Orel again. Yall know my fav character is Clay. Yall know.
"You're smoke." <-- Lewis / The text later reads, "...there was some irony, given what eventually happened." BRUH. Why did your stepdad die in a fire? :V TELL ME.
"When his family's house burned down at the end of his senior year..." Huh. Is there a fire we don't know about in the game-verse? Could this explain what happened to the FNAF 4 house before MM house?!
"...it purged Hudson of Lewis and his mother." MRS. AFTON BURNED ALIVE, TOO? Bruh. I can't with this story.
The text later describes the fire is concluded to be man-made and Hudson was blamed for it. Can't say if this ties to Michael, but it IS interesting... TBF, there is a small paralell to draw between Henry in FNAF 6 and his history of suicide in the books, too.
Pg 166 "...this place's [FF] busted thermostat.." I just find this line funny.
Pg 167 "...after three weeks of keeping an eye on the place" Some more timeline context for FNAF 3. We know that Michael worked there a little while before we start playing the game thanks to one of the phone calls, IIRC, so this makes sense. If Michael was accused of [something] and also wanting to hunt down his father, then it makes perfect sense why he's working a dead end job at Freddy's over and over and over. Fun fun fun.
Pg 169 "He hated to think about a functional character [Foxy]" This line is in regards to Hudson not liking the set up of Pirate's Cove and Foxy's hook to scare people. Sounds familiar, don't it? (For Michael anyway.)
Pg 173 "Some big find is arriving tomorrow." SPRINGY BOI! COME ON BOOK, get on with the show?
Pg 176 "Granny was wearing a red-and-green plaid shirt and her baggy jeans." Nothing special, but it was specifically brought up twice. I'm kind of racking my brain trying to understand what the point of this character is outside of "woooo everything is haunted don't you know that" kind of character.
Pg 180 "...dropped the crate on the linoleum with a resounding thud." HEY. Poor Springtrap, just gettin' tossed around like the trash he is.
Pg 186 "If you weren't so stupid, I'd tell you more about it." Springtrap bringing the burn. =:)
"A voice with a burr-like rasp...hint of a Southern accent" I'm going to assume this is because it's Lewis probably in the suit in this story and not our old British lad.
"It's was Mr. Atkin's voice." THE MATH TEACHER? *goes back to check* 'The algebra teacher'. Okay...
Pg 190 Okay, so Hudson hear's Lewis' voice this time. Okay, I get it now. Springtrap in this kind of imbodies all of Hudson's old bullies, including the teacher. He also has PTSD, just FYI. IDK if anyone finds that important, but it's fairly obvious by the line "He wasn't in his bedroom. Lewis didn't just slam his head into a desk; his head had been slammed into the [arcade] game."
"Why did he hallucinate a scene from his childhood?" Oh, it's not PTSD, then. It's just the VENTILATION ERROR. lol Okay.
Just a note, as I'm reading through the more action-based stuff, I kind of feel bad for Michael if he had flashbacks like this guy. They're intense.
So, Lewis' voice finally comes out of Springtrap on Pg 213. There's that.
Pg 220 "You can just stay there [in his room]" Kind of a paralell to Midnight Motorist. Lewis is saying it to Hudson. I really feel like the kid in the MM game is Michael because of this story...
Pg 223 "Heat purges. Fire heals." I'm sure that's Henry's life motto.
The ending was stupid, but most in these stories are. Hudson is hallucinating and is implied to have burned himself alive in FF's oven. Meh? The first half of this one is A TRIP and a little insight into what I 100% believe is Michael's childhood. I think the saddest part of it all is that we never got Springtrap speaking to Michael in FNAF 3--and if it's ever remade I hope we get more of them interacting.

Haha, maybeđ¤đ¤ŁÂ
*SOFTLY AND NICELY AND ONLY JOKINGLY BLAMES LW* (Never really cause she's WAY too nice to be blamed, but don't tell her i said thatđ)Â
Yup, true...At least with the Winchesters they semi-admitted they weren't always perfect or healthyđŤ
Yeah, now that you say it, it really is strange that there's always alcohol no matter the Time of dayđ¤đ
Omg, YES, that freaking elevator DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE?!! THEY DIDN'T EVEN MAKE A SIDE COMMENT ABOUT IT! But yes, I can only agree on Details over CGIđ
You're definitely evil and now I kinda wanna get my poor godkid and his even poorer older sister far away and out of your reachđ
đđ You literally have no mercy on them, do you? Couldn't you at least have had her time travel to get her father&brother back or sth and no longer be alone anymore?đ
Lol, Same, here have another two high-fives for thatđ
If that stereotype was a real person, I'd murder it painfully...đ I hate it SO much.Â
The movie had nice animation but it was kinda meh from what I rememberđŤ Again, I didn't mind NaruHina at all (esp. since she did indeed like him for him before anyone else did), but the movie was kinda pointless and I still dislike the sudden planet/dimension-hopping they introduced at the end of Shippuuden and them being able to breath on the freaking moon is just...what?đ
đ
Jup, sameđ Have them as Bros and Sasuke be fine alone (seriously, that boy should probably go to therapy for at LEAST 20 years before he even thinks of getting into a semi-serious relationship...)Â
Ohhhh, sounds interesting!đ¤ Really made me think of Hunger Games and Assasination Classroom tho, yeahđ
It kinda does and I mean, I had a discussion with a friend once where we did point out that having a bit romance is truly fine cause it's hardly believable that truly EVERY character is aro/ace or too emotionally unavailable, but...Agh, just the ratio of story vs. romance is so fucked upđŤÂ
Oh, nononono, I understood that you meant 9am! Sorry, my autocorrect must have changed that to pm and I didn't realizeđđ NO SHAME ON YOU!đ Ha, zombieđ You know that Cranberries song? I never have to NOT think of it when I hear that wordđ¤Ł
YES, EXACTLY! Thank you, FINALLY someone who understands how freaking draining and tiring humans and human interaction are!Â
Ohhh, that would actually be funnyđ Esp. if Kakashi still used those stupid/brilliant excuses like "I got lost on the road of life" or "I saw a black cat and had to take the long way around cause bad luck" etcđ
I'm still sobbing over Ace... It never was the Same againđŤ (Fun Fact: OF COURSE they'd kill one of my two favourite side characters and never show the other (aka Shanks) apart from in openingsđŤđ¤Śđťââď¸ I really need to stop getting emotionally attached to tragic and absent charactersđŤđ¤Śđťââď¸)
Yup, definitelyđ
But BEYOND creepy nontheless...đ
Tokyo Ghoul is just another tragic mass (and to no surprise I once again got attached to the worst character you can get attached to cause you'll spend 99% of the story wondering where he is, what he's doing or if he's even aliveđđŤ)
Oh, you gotta watch/read Attack on Titan's S4 Arc! I wasn't TOO into it before but after that time skip shit went down and uff, my heart died a few times (and I still Love the paralells between the two sides and how all characters are proven to be shades of grey instead of the stupid black-white-thinking animes etc like to have these days...) đ¤
XXXXX
....well, I blame her all the time foer a lot of things, @raisedbyfandomwolves i think you can confirm?
Yeah, well, Winchesters were the equals in the show, I think? Both screwed a lot, both hurt each other, and both apologized many times. In SG... I feel there was imbalance. Alex was usually propped, while Kara was treated like teh bad guy. Don't even let me moan how she treated Kara in the two last eps. And nothing was solved.
I mean, yeah, no cameras in the elvator? No one was surprised there was freaking HOLE in the roof? No one was surprised the levator was destroyed? Like? Someone could have died there, and we would not know. Sigh.
MUHAHAHAHAHA. I was thinking about reversing the future and erasing the bad stuff, becasue of some villain messing with their lives, I didn't plan anything that far ^^' I mean, it could end happy or disastrous. I'm pissed off, so ....
Basically, I'm happy i ended my Naruto journey on manga and have seen like 2 shippuden movies, nothing more. Anyway... all naruto movies suck and all are just dumb fillers. Sad facts.
I KNOW. Kishimoto fucked his character and imo, he seriosuly should have died. ... you know, teh same goes for Mon-El, I wish he had died in the end of s2 because as much as I love Chris and his portrayal of Mon Mon, they destroyed almost everything I loved about him and karamel. What we get was... a slap. Not only Kara will never find a partner, but he will also never move on. Fuck this show.
It's good, espeically the first movie. I haven't read manga (just one vol.) but it is super brutal. And I bought the book and it waits for being read... maybe... mext year?
Agreed. it's like no one can create a stroy without romance? That's dumb? And even if there is no romance, if the series is popualr, there you have SHIPPERS swarming everything and talking about only romances and ugh, just shoot me.
Like duh, who didn't hear about Zombie by Cranberries???? One of my fave songs. Seriosuly.
I KNOW. Look, i like a lot of people, I like having them, but jesus christ just leave me a lone for some time, i need to recharge myself? Also, for a long time my best friend was an extravert who totally, TOTALLY, didn't understand my needs of peace and quiet. After she talked about her LOVE LIFE for HOURS I felt drilled like an lemon after lemonade was made.
He and Tobi, if Tobi was Tobi not Madara xD, they would be best pals, I guess?
.... we seriosuly are spiritually conencted, because aside of the fact all my ships are fucked, usually my fave characters are fucked. Or not mentioned ever again. That's a curse. and you are cursed too =='
ehehehehe, black-white characters - that goes for Supergirl too :DDDDDDDD i mean, minus Lena, who is not black, not white, not gray, she's just shit.
Tbh, haven't been into anime and manga for a long time. Still finishing Skip Beat and I'm wondering if it will ever be finished. Same goes for NaNa and DNangel. And Saiyuki. Not mentioning Berserk... sad life of manga fan, huh?

Hi guys! Happy Monday! đ
Iâm super excited to bring you my first tutorial on how to make Pop Up Illustrations! Ever since I discovered Pop Up books I always felt this was a great way to bring life to illustrations. So I was really happy when I got the chance to learn by myself a bit of paper mechanics for a project!
I'm still learning how to make more complex mechanisms, but since I got so many requests on TikTok and Instagram, I've put together this tutorial on how you can start experimenting with Pop Up illustrations on your sketchbook, journal or even greeting cards.Â
I also suggest you watch the video, since it explains how to measure the angles youâll need.
I hope you enjoy it! đť
1. planning and sketching ideas
I usually start by sketching the illustration I want to turn into a pop up. In this case, it will be for one of my favourite quick recipes, which is mug cake. And I've made some tiny sketches for the main pop up with the ingredients.
Weâll have a bif pop up that will sit at the back of the pages, and this is where some small mugs will be attached. I also want to add two flaps on the bottom corners, which will have the recipe and ingredients written on the inside.
I also made a few detailed sketches of the ingredient, mugs and jars, and also defined a warm colour palette. Â
2. making prototypes
I definitely recommend you make some tests before jumping into the final pop up. This will ensure you already know the correct angles and measurements before drawing your illustrations.
For my sketchbook size, I begin by folding an A5 paper sheet in half.
The first angle you need to pay attention to, is the angle between the bottom (base) of your pop up and the middle crease.Â
You can go for a 90Âş angle, which will make your Pop Up sit at a 90Âş angle on your pages. However, when you look at your sketchbook, most often youâre not really at the same level. Youâre usually looking from an upper angle, specially if the book is sitting on a table.Â
So I personally like to go for a smaller angle, like 80Âş, which will tilt your pop up a bit backwards and is more comfortable to look at.
But please, keep in mind this is just my preference, so please go for any angle you like!
After setting your angle, cut the base of your pop up, leaving some tab that youâll use to glue it to the pages.
The next step is to figure where you want your pop up to sit and mark where it meets the center of the pages.
From there, trace a 20Âş angle, which is the angle to how your pop up will be glued to the pages.
Next, place your pop up vertically, aligning it with the 20Âş angle. Close it down, making sure itâs still aligned with the angle. Iâll just mark where the pop up goes off the pages of the sketchbook and trim that excess off.
Youâll get the maximum dimensions of your pop up, so you can draw what you want within that area.Â
I also made tests for the flaps at the bottom of the pages.
Now this is an example from one of my previous pop ups. As you can see, the front piece is paralell to the pop up on the back and has a small tab, which is the same size as the distance between both pieces. So, when the pop up closes, this tab pushes the front piece down, making it lay on the page. When it opens, it pulls the piece backwards, making it stand up.Â
And this is the same method I'll be using for the front pieces with the mugs.
3. making the pieces
After getting all the prototypes, I transfer them to a mixed media paper. Iâm using a paper thatâs a bit thicker than printer paper, but is thinner than watercolour paper. I donât want my sketchbook to get too chonky!
I paint everything with gouache and cut all the pieces.
4. attaching the pieces
This is quite a long tutorial, so I hope Tumblr allows me to post all the photos!Â
Now that we have all the pieces ready, is time to glue them to the pages. Weâll start with the pop up at the back.
Firstly, apply glue to on of its bottom tabs. Align it with the 20Âş line on the corresponding page and press it down.
Then close the pop up and apply glue on the other tab. Close the corresponding page and press it down, to ensure your pop up gets nicely glued.
Open the pages and your main pop up is done!
Glue the tab to the pop up and then glue the front piece to the page and the tab.
Close the pages and make sure the front piece lies down correctly, making any small adjustments if needed. Repeat the same to the other piece.
Finally glue the pieces to the bottom of the pages.
And your pop up is finished!
5. a look at the final pop up
This was a simple tutorial which can help if you want to start experimenting with pop ups. Make sure to check the video on my Youtube for any questions you might still have. But feel free to send me DMs and comments with your questions!Â
Stay cozy! đ InĂŞs

Huey and D'jinn possible parallels
As we know, Huey is the center of this season and even if he wasn't present in all the episodes, the ones in which he appears are excelent and contribute for some character development. I bet we are going to see paralels between him and other characters. Dewey has Della, Jormungandr in the neutral side and Don Karnage in the villain side, Louie has Goldie and Gladstone. Huey has Fenton, maybe Gyro, Donald and definetly Fethry Duck, Boyd and Violet Sabrewing. But what if he had parallels with someone who isn't science-related? Someone who has more common grounds in terms of liking history other than Violet (who is now a recurring character)? I have a feeling that it's a side character who is going to return not that soon but in the last episodes.
I'm talking about Faris D'jinn and in this (long) post I'm going to explain why.
First of all, their (brief) interactions. Huey was the first member of the Duck family to meet D'jinn and he was the one who asked if him and Amunet were ok in Moonvasion!
Now this may be very brief but I theorise Huey is going to have more conversations with Faris the next time he appears. They have many things in common after all.
What are those things you may ask? Apart of wearing red in their clothes.
Well, that is the second point. Both like order and things going their way because it makes them easy and in Huey's case, secure.
D'jinn had one thing in mind in all the Treasure of the Found Lamp! episode: To find the lamp of his ancestors in his birthday or devastating consequences would happen aka he's going to be sad. This could count as hyperfocusing on something, that would be the lamp and the story behind it.
He was so concentrated on that matter that he involved the duck family in a quest that some of them (Scrooge and Louie) didn't want to be part of, but felt they have no choice.
This reminds me of the episode where it was Scrooge's birthday and Huey wanted to prove that he could be a better party planner than Duckworth (the already deceased buttler) to the point of only for one second to transform into "the Duke", you know, that facet of Huey that cames to life when a great injustice was made like when Mark Beaks made Dewey the superior of Huey despite the fact that the Blue One didn't put as much effort as the Red One or when a boss character ruins his carefully cultivated farm plot in Legends of Legendquest and the older sibling went mad.
Well, D'jinn had moments that from his point of view count as injustices too. First the lamp was stolen centuries ago, then he finds where it is and goes to Scrooge to have it back, then the old duck tells him the lamp was misplaced. Since Faris had a schedule that he must complete before it's too late, he proposes to find the lamp in a rather...intense way that ends up scaring the ducks. Then he goes to Itaquack and spends maybe hours solving riddles and he knows they are stalling him and gets more impatient. THEN he discovers the lamp was stolen AGAIN under his nose by Ma Beagle and that he was SO close to obtain it right there. These last things of course couldn't happen as the quest was fake but Faris didn't know that.
While I don't think D'jinn has a whole "Duke" persona, he has little moments of intensity that instead of helping him only makes things worse.
It's because these moments of intensity and misunderstandings that the ducks had to make a false quest to obtain more time and stop D'jinn for...wanting to kill them.
No, seriously, the family thought they were death duck meat if they didn't find the lamp which again it's a big misunderstanding, as we found out Faris isn't the kind of guy who is violent just because and he wouldn't kill enemies.
Look, D'jinn is my favorite side character in all Ducktales and I even made a big analysis of why he is a great character a year ago. But... guy has poor communication skills. Let's admit it, many of you wouldn't stay in the same room as someone who not only is very (very) dramatic but also has weapons at their disposition.
Anyway going back to Huey...the Red Bean also has problems with communication. For example, as @pholux-twg pointed out, many things could have been resolved if only Huey had the time to explain his insecurities and point of view in The Trickening!, something he didn't do well in Scrooge's birthday.
And talking about that episode again, he was pushing his siblings to do the perfect birthday for Scrooge, something that Scrooge himself didn't want to. Huey had good intentions when trying to organize the party but his actions and considerations of other people's feelings were not productive, just like D'jinn had good intentions at getting the lamp back but the way he tried to obtain it just scared everybody.
Also to me it is very amusing that D'jinn is a warrior who trusts everybody so much (I mean, he didn't stop to consider if Ma Beagle was lying about the lamp, he believed her inmediatly) and falls for simple jokes as the "got your nose" joke. It is possible that he's not that naive but simply he doesn't really know when somebody is lying or not even if it's very obvious. Just like Huey is Mister "I'm not good at imagination stuff" D'jinn could be "I'm not good at detecting lies and metaphorical jokes"
Then we have the scroll that D'jinn owns and it has the story of his family, his quest for the perfect birthday gift and maybe more information, he writes on it what he has accomplished and that reminds me of the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook that Huey has for guidance. We don't know what could happen if Faris lost the scroll because it seems that he also uses it for guidance in his quests (or in the quest of his life)
Gif belong to @pholux-twg , @stevenfallsvs and @greatgamedota
Also I would like to point out that Huey had moments of stimming in Season 3 and I think D'jinn had moments of this in his debut episode...if spinning his sword many times counts as stimming, because maybe is a cool thing that he does when trying to impresionte those around him but maybe...just maybe he spins his sword when experiencing strong emotions like:
Anger
Determination
Hapiness
But wait you would say, that doesn't make sense as he has the same stoic face in the three gifs.
Yeah, but the thing is, and this is one of the theories that I have...he's masking.
During all the journey he's excited but mostly reserved and it's only when he understood that everyone thought there was a genie in the lamp and said object was now at his disposition that he broke his stoic and serious presence and began to show more than just one emotion.
But from a brief moment before the battle with the Beagle Boys we see the moment he discovers all his quest was a charade to stop him from getting angry, we get this:
He's confused, sad, hurt and angry again when facing the ducks. Then as he questions if everything was fake he seems sad again.
This is of course justified in that he's a tough warrior. Heavens forbid if he shows emotions that could be perceived as weak in front of his allies and enemies.
But we have to consider this: D'jinn lives for epic and little quests. It's his hobbie, his favorite activity, he sees life as a big quest and him as just another player and he takes that very seriously.
The thing is... the others don't. They only pay attention to him for fear of their lives. This is just a guy who you can't ignore. Like I said before Scrooge and Louie only want to escape the problem they got into and even Huey is amazed at how much dedication the warrior puts on the lamp and the quest.
Huey (to Louie): D'jinn monologued about this lamp and the Ifrit's Dawn for ten minutes without blinking!
Taking into account that, let's go back to Faris realizing the ducks lied to him. They used his favorite hobby and interest as a joke. Without saying it, the ducks practicaly said: "You know, we don't care about being part of your quest or your lamp or listening to your dramatic stories. We just don't want to get destroyed. We want you to leave us alone as soon as possible"
And all I have to say is...ouch. OUCH
I mean, of course that supposition is not true because Dewey enjoyed the adventure and Webby was living the dream! But D'jinn didn't know that.
I also have to wonder if him not getting into drama over the lie was because he was very focused in obtaining the lamp or maybe he's just used to it. And for "it" I mean having to deal with many lies made to get rid of him and his dramatic actitude, and that actitude is not wrong or bad but some persons just don't have time or patience for that and we don't know how many people encountered the warrior in the past.
We don't know if his family is as interested and passionate about their history as D'jinn, or if he still has a brother or more siblings but (theory) if he turns out to be the only member of his family to have that passion for history and adventures then he would have another thing in common with Huey. Both love their families deeply but they feel they don't understand them.
At least we have one thing clear for sure and it is that in his last birthday, D'jinn wasn't alone.
I hope he continues to make more friends or how he puts it "allies" and please let him interact with Huey! It's the Red One's season after all.
Also as a sidenote it is interesting that in the last picture Webby, Beakly and Huey (who are confirmed to have more presence and lore in this season) were in one group together. Foreshadowing?

WandaVision Theory
Okay so this contains some spoilers (mostly specculation really) from wanda vision so... spoilers below cut.
We have all seen the casting for Spiderman 3 & Doctor strange 2.... It includes people like: Andrew Garfield (spiderman) Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez) Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) Tom Hiddleston (Loki) Among others.... lots of universes being mixed here guys. So I have a theory... Blame my friend for this thing being birthed she had to listen to this as it came out. Peter/Pietro (since xmen pietro is called peter, but wanda knows his as pietro) maximoff is Loki, last we saw loki he had the tesseract and was fleeing, loki is trying to find out the state of the awvengers post end game, and yeah loki likes to fuck with thor & in the comics he lovveeesss just winding people up (God of mischief ffs), so he is trying to find out what the fuck is going on, he is curious about wanda's level of powers (like she is one of the most powerful mcu characters, hes gunna be curious), wanda as we know has a town hostage and is controlling everything, this is similar to avenegrs where loki wanted to rule earth, so hes seeing if she could be of use to him/try figure out a way to get his end goal. End of wanda vision season 1 - wanda looses complete control, she snaps. She breaks the multi verse because she has been believing this pietro is her pietro but with a different face... she finds out it is loki in pietros body which causes her to loose total control and snap a rift in the multi verse OR sword cause her so much stress, vision is questionign everything/realises what wanda did (Sees the footage maybe?) or she has to watch him die again and wanda is so torn over by emotion that she looses control, pietro/loki then realises that oh fuck this is about to go down and wanda uses her powers to try control more and either knocks pietro loki back into loki for or loki shifts just before to do a reveal, he may even try and fix this and help wanda because he knows intense powers and notice she is going insane????? But this ends in her bringing in all the spidermen into the MCU. Bringing deadpool with em. Bringing america chavez with them (She lives in a paralel universe and thats where she got her powers so wanda drags her into MCU because hey, she snapped). Doc strange 2 happens which is about the multi verse. Strange appears at end of wanda vision kinda like "Oh no...." like he's seeing what is about to happen and sees wanda is about to cause he doesnt see this coming, So doc strange 2 is now begining wanda has lost control and merged all theses universes into one - sony, fox, the new characters universe etc etc etc are now all in the MCU universe there is many spider men now (Like into the spider verse) kidna like that level of how it happens they just got ripped into this reality. In spider man 3 this is also playing a part because all the spidermen are still here (Showing this could be a long winded issue/they cant get back to their universe because wanda doesnt know how she did it, doesnt want to do it/cant do it again) Back to doc strange 3 - this movie will be directly dealing with the immediate backlash of this, the many spidermen, deadpool, america chavez all appearing, strange realising what has happened, trying to fix this, loki also there because he doesnt even know whats happened but DAMN is he interested because THIS level of power.... thats interesting to him. Loki's disney+ series happens after the multi verse of madness/during it (like loki's show is bought up in it like "lokis fucking president?!?!?!" like thats another thing thats gone wrong from wanda's melt down and destroying the multi verse, and another thing for strange to to and do damage control on. wanda cant fix this, shes now gone fully off rails, if she watches vision die twice she wont be coming back from that we know. so strange is also trying to help her on how to use her powers as she never reallllly has had training, strange might know people who can help her deal with this insane amount of power. Strange cant fix this alone he needs wanda to try and fix this, and the issue could be a permenant one ( i recon it will be permenant and all wwhat phase 4 & 5 will be about) Doctor strange 2 sees them going between thesee multi verse's they have discovered (maybe strqange & wanda, maybe strange & wong, maybe wanda and someone else who knows... but they are trying to find out how far this damage has gone End of doctor strange is them realising this isnt a quick fix, the world has gone insane as there is all these new ones, ("WHY ARE THERE 3 SPIDER MEN!" - JJJ shouts (cause hey he was in the tobey mcguire spidermen ffs we get him with this package too) spider man 3 then happens & tom holland (The spider men will be refered to by their actors names) see's that um theres another spider man??? what the??? he finds him and they all find out they are the same spider man. This movie plays out similary to into the spiderverse but they dont all go at the end of it because this is a long winded issue. But... now we have america chavez, shes just been bumbling round the MCU being a hero cause she's here.... Monica as you rememebr from wanda vision has her internal sequencing rewritten each time she goes through the hex, this gives her powers cause she has gone through the hex so much at this stage in wanda vision.... So Monica = Photon America Chavez Cassie = Stature Kate bishop = Hawkeye Tom holland = Spiderman How did kate get here and Cassie? KATE So clint stepped down, hawkeye disney+ seems to be like fractions, clints training kate (maybe his family left after end game because jfc clint is probs a wreck, or clint didnt stop so hsi wife left.... maybe they live in iowa happily who knows) Clint was going solo for a while in newyork, when he met this other hawkeye (Hey maybe kate got dragged through the multi verse or maybe she was just a great archer rich kid in newyork who saw hawkeye had fucked off after the blip (maybe she was working during the blip, but towards the end? in comics she took hawkeye mantle while clint was off beign a depressed noodle and he then found out there was 2 hawkeyes and confronted ehr and agreed to train her so maybe somehting simialr to this is what happens in hawkeye) But anyway Clints training kate in new york and yeah shes good. CASSIE Scott after end game & Hope continue being antman and the wasp, but cassie eventually takes over the suit from them (Maybe something happens in antman 3 quantamania that means neither scott or hope can use the suits any more because it will tear them apart, like hank cant use the suits because it takes too much of a toll on his body now and he wouldnt surive it really...) so cassie has taken over the suits and is now operating under the code name stature. This then begins the next arc for the avengers now they have got people powered up, and atleast 1 person from this destruction of the multi verse (America chavez) but we may have more that are discovered over the course of phase 4 that were bought through with the multi verse. So, where does this go??? The young avengers is the next big arc.... Maybe wanda (&peter maximoff? not sure how that would work as young piettro (evan peters one) was from the 80s or something in xmen so is an adult not a kid like he is in wanda vision, which adds to my this isnt pietro but loki thing) But maybe wanda is leading them, maybe not. But the multi verse cant be fixed so they have these heroes now and the avengers kinda died after end game cause tony died and steve fucked off. Sam helps train but hes off with bucky alot too doing a buddy up thing together, but as sam is the new cap he also heads up this young avengers kinda as a mentor for them. Now... right now your pronbs thinking "Morgan stark though" Morgan has a suit... but morgan is still even in 2030 (hawkeye is 2025...) morgan would only be 7..... so she isnt really old enough.... But who else had an iron man suit in the comics? who may of got dragged through the multi verse? Enter riri williams aka iron heart. That takes us up to about end of phase 5 with the rise of the young avengers & champions maybe??? Hi and thanks for coming to my ted talk

Season 2: The Rankings
Whew. Oh boy.
They were still puttering about in season 1 to an extent. But now? Now theyâve really hit their stride. This season was a veritable chocolate box of delights and I ate my way through it. The overall myth arc was kind of nonsensical, but that emotional throughline? Christ. Spn buries SO MUCH emotional complexity into its leads, and they cashed in every cent in that two part finale. It packs one hell of a punch. And yeah, okay, I knew the broad strokes, the twists and turns. Itâs hard not to be spoilered for a season of tv that aired over a decade ago. But reader! It mattered not!! I. Still. Wept. Thatâs when you know itâs the good kush.  1.) 2x12: NIGHTSHIFTER. This one just snagged the top spot by merit of its sheer ambition. Supernatural often feels like a very empty universe to me, just two guys and one car drifting from place to place. Which is fine, it makes for compelling TV, but they totally flipped the script here and this episode really dazzles precisely because of that contrast. Itâs a huge, cinematic episode, a metropolitan setting full of uncontrollable elements, and itâs great to see Sam and Dean so profoundly vulnerable. The outside world is pressing up against the windows. They have sniper dots trained on them! They are, literally and figuratively, out of their depth! Weâre not in Kansas any more, baby. God, I havenât even mentioned the supporting characters. The entire mandroid rant deserves an Emmy. Victor Henricksonâs entrance! Heist movie antics! Agh! 10/10 Â
2.) 2x07: THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Again this episode was a cut above precisely because it showed us what the brothers look like from the outside: sketchy as all hell. Itâs so good when reality ensures, because itâs great to be reminded they lead objectively insane lives! Through Linda Blairâs eyes we get to see just how unknowable, feral and amoral they appear to the eyes of polite society. Put under a microscope like this, theyâre scary guys! Theyâre just not socialised like normal people. They donât really care about being arrested, or about the felonies. Getting arrested is an irritant above everything else. Theyâre still working the case from the inside. Theyâre professionals; excellent liars, and totally in sync with each other. The handwritten notes they pass, like delinquent school kids! A delight! The thrill lies in watching Blair slowly unwrap their strange logic, and unravel the mystery of both the brothers and the ghost. Ugh, what a great perspective shift. Iâm 100% here for it. 10/10Â
3.) 2x09: CROATOAN. Ugh, this setting. Small Town Gothic, complete with eerie mist, hostile locals and creepy Stepford vibes. Sam really shone in this episode. Heâs so soothing and giant, and it made his suffering at the end all the more devastaing. The real reason this episode ranks so highly is their conversation in the surgery. It just killed me. Deanâs sheer, bone-deep exhaustion, his admission that heâs tired of the life. Samâs despair, because he knows Dean wonât leave. The performances were so steller. I canât even really think too deeply about it because it makes me too crazy. 10/10 Â
4.) 2x21: ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE: PART ONE. I loved this finale so much more than the finale in Season 1, LOL. It might just be because Iâm more invested now, who knows. The opening of this episode is a piece of art: Boston playing on the car stereo, the rain, the small cafe, the lighting. Gorgeous. I love when they have to interact with ordinary people! It adds so much: texture, humour, personality! It draws things out of Sam and Dean that we just donât see when they have each other to bounce off of. It was so good to see Ava and Andy again. âI just woke up in freakinâ Frontierland!â The gangâs all here, folks! This episode would rank higher, but recieves minus points for the long boring speech the demon gives Sam, and killing off the first gay in the show 0.2 seconds after her introduction. Anyway. The ending of course unzipped me; Dean cradling Samâs dead body, muttering âItâs okay, itâs not even that bad.â The elation of their reunion, so devastaingly cut short! Sam, twenty two years old, bleeding out in the mud. The sheer, hopelessness of it all. The horror. My notes for the end of the episode simply read: âDean oh Christ. Oh my God. Oh no.â Itâs just one of those scenes that stay with you long after the credits start rolling. 9/10  Â
5.) 2x20: WHAT IS AND WHAT SHOULD NEVER BE. I never thought I could be so profoundly upset by watching a man happily mowing a lawn. Deanâs trauma over the loss of his mother has undercut the whole show up until this point, and here it bursts to the fore. What really got me was the simplicity of it all. Just a sit-down dinner, an engagement. A beer on the porch. Fuck, he deserves it. He deserves everything. All the performances were great, they really served to show thereâs a whole life in these AU characters. The fact it wasnât all perfect was bizarrely more devastating. AU Samâs weird straight hair and dorky jacket sealed the deal for me, as did his baffled terror in the warehouse. But even here, with no training and no idea whatâs happening, he gets into the Impala! Because thatâs his brother! Because Iâm a huge baby I had to remove points because of how upsetting I found Samâs quiet hostility towards Dean, HA. But thatâs really just a testament to how well-realised their dynamic has become by the second season. 9/10Â Â
6.) 2x15: TALL TALES. Every single thing Sam does in any of Deanâs memories. Also alien slowdance set to âLady in Red.â Also Bobby breaking them up like theyâre petulant children. Gold, all of it gold. 9/10Â
7.)  2x11: PLAYTHINGS. So Iâm a slut for a cool setting, obviously. Turns out, Supernatural did The Haunting of Bly Manor fifteen years ago. The swimming pool! The attic! Creepy dolls! The weird little playground! This episode has it all! I loved the saga between the ghost sister and the old lady, which would honestly make a killer movie in its own right. But Iâm digressing. The main star of this episode was, of course, Deanâs profound and escalating sexual insecurities. âWell, you are kinda butch. People probably think youâre overcompensating.â FATALITY. I wouldâve placed this one higher but the weird incestuous undertones kinda squicked me out... however, I did think we were meant to be creeped out by it, which is more than I can say for some other uh. Instances. It was, after all, beautifully paralelled at the end with the two sisters reuniting in death. âI canât leave here, and you canât leave me.â SHUDDER. Also, honestly, can Sam have one (1) breakdown on his own without Deanâs own emotional baggage taking over? Older siblings, smh. 9/10
8.) 2x22: ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE: PART TWO. This one ranks lower than part one purely because I thought the yellow-eyed demonâs overall plot was kinda nonsensical, and I cared not for Johnâs weird deux ex machina moment. Like do you expect me to feel sorry for that bitch? I donât! Anyway, that being said, letâs move on to Deanâs eyes in the junkyard when Bobby asks him, âdo you have that low an opinion of yourself?â Theyâre so flat. So dead, like a sharkâs. He doesnât need to say anything back, because itâs all over his face. That non-expression says it all. This is the culmination of the emotional arc that began with his savage beatdown of the Impala in episode 2x02. To call it survivorâs guilt wouldnât even begin to cover what Dean goes through this episode. Itâs all in Acklesâ performance; in the the way he yells, âWhat am I supposed to do now, Sammy?â The complete claustrophobia of it all. Thereâs nothing for it but to make the deal. Deanâs been moving inexorably towards this moment for the entire season. 9/10 Â
9.) 2x13: HOUSES OF THE HOLY. What a kooky little episode! Magic fingers! Samâs costcutter seance purchases! The scooby-doo placemat he uses as a makeshift altar! I love him, your honour. Obviously this episode has a lot of *~dramatic irony~* in it because of the later seasons, but it stands alone as a total banger. I was so gutted for Sam when the "angelâ was revealed. So many good little Sam moments to be found in this episode. His soft, quiet little revelation that he prays every day. His awkward, earnest explanation to the horrified priest! Dean gets some great moments chasing down the would-be rapist down those dark, snow-covered streets. His speech to Sam where he explains his lack of belief is brief, but itâs a total gut punch. Rounding it off with Knockin on Heavenâs Door was just the cherry on top. 9/10Â
10.) 2x14: BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN. Ahaha I love the way Dean acts whenever Samâs psychic powers come up. He treats him like a rebellious teen, itâs so funny. âWhatâs going on with you, Sam? Smokinâ, drinkinâ?â As if Samâs behaviour was a) at all under his control or b) anything Dean wouldnât HIMSELF do. Deanâs just like, this isnât how I raised you! Truly hysterical. The whole sequence between Meg!Sam and Jo was fantastic and horrible. Samâs huge physique is never threatening, but it really was in that moment. The interplay between them was totally spine-tingling. Megâs impression Sam slowly crumbling away over the course of the episode was so compelling and Iâm sure it will be a really fun rewatch now I know the *twist*. 9/10 Â
Favourite lines this season:Â
The way Sam says âblack catâs boneâ in 2x08
âYouâre not gonna go kill somebody because a ghost told you to, are you insane?!â - Dean, 2x13
âDean, this is a very serious investigation, we donât have time for your blah blah blah blah.â - Sam (according to Dean), 2x15
âIâm fine, except for every single thing thatâs happening.â - Ava, 2x21Â
#I feel like I'm exposing myself as a sam girl here#I love them equally I swear#supernatural#there's so much i left out like my comprehensive love for JO#what does she have? A KNIFE#I just didn't really dig NO EXIT as an episode sadly#spnwatch

The thing about hating Avatar Korra is that there are some arguments about her that could also work for Aang. Like the "Loool what is that giant spirit thing in s2" for Lok can also be used for ATLA, when the Fire Nation attacked the NWT and Aang somehow fused with La and transformed in a gigantic spirit. Korra did lose her past lives, but she faced a much fiercer opponent than Aang: THE evil spirit boss. And it was ALSO meant to be, because in ATLA we see that in the statue room there's room for 2 more statues, Aang and Korra.
Taking in consideration the space between the rows of statues, it is quite clear that it was predicted that there would have been 2, maybe 3 Avatars after Roku since the creation of all those statues. So Korra restarting the cycle is really not that big a deal + it gave us all those past Avatars in the scene where Unavaatu destroys them.
I honestly liked book 3 a lot, because 1. it brought back the Air Nation, just as Aang wanted (and some people are going to be bitter that "It iS sO uNreAlsTic" like they didn't just watch a show in which people are able to move rocks with their minds) and 2. the villains had actual motives, not just world domination. Power is a cool motivation for the bad guys, but freedom? This makes them feel more real and i am here for it . IÂ also think that the Harmonic Convengence bringing back Airbenders was actually very ingenious) and i also liked Book 4 and Korra overcoming her trauma (plus Korrasami yey!)
The thing i don't really like about Lok is the fact that we don't see a lot of character arcs. But Nickolodeon kinda fucked them up, so i can't blame the producers.
And let's be real here: you don't hate Korra because "she's too angry" or "she's a Mary Sue". You hate her because she's not Aang (even if they are actually quite similar if you look at the paralels). Korra is actually a great character and we can really see her evolving during the series. She has made many mistakes, and Lok is about fixing the mistakes she made and doing better. Atla was more focused on the journey (hence we didn't see the consequences when Aang destroyed one of the sandbenders ships, or when he destroyed that Earth Kingdom court when the general kept pressing him to enter the Avatar State) and that is why some people like it more. I am not trying to shit on Atla, i absolutely adore it and is one of my favourite shows ever. But we did not see Aang dealing with trauma, we did not see him suffer for his actions (well we did, but only for an episode and brief moments during the series)
Both Korra and Aang were bending prodigies. But Korra didn't master the elements when she was 4, she just discovered them. She mastered 3 of them by the age of 17. She went on a long journey and she really made an effort to learn airbending. She also worked hard on the spiritual side, even though the White Lotus constantly told her how bad she was at it (while just sitting there and not helping her spiritually at all and also basically quarantining her for 13 years. ) So yes, before hating on her, maybe ask yourself "do i really think that, or am i just upset that a brown woman is the protagonist of a show and doesn't just stand there and be pretty". Because i have seen so many racist, mysoginist and homophobic people saying that they don't like Korra because of her character, then proceeded to be all the things i have listed above without even realizing .
So yes, this is my take on Korra haters. If you don't like her ok, everybody has their preferences, but don't start hating on her. Keep your opinion to yourself and let the ones that like her enjoy Lok smh.

The witchâs teachings, lesson 1:Scholars and healers
Travelling with Morgana, I learned about a part of witch work Iâd heard little about, the in-betweens, walking the lonesome road, stopping to camp, sleep and gather supplies, both in the form of regular food like rabbits, fruit and roots, and also in the form of strange local herbs or mushrooms. âCatterpillar mushroom, good for diseases,â she said.
I helped her gather what she needed in my normal human form and we set off towards the nearby town, Hogsfeet. Itâs a bit bigger than where I grew up, but still by no means a big one. As we approached it, she instructed me to turn back into a cat and climb onto her shoulder.
We headed to the town hall and I noticed the streets empty in our wake, inside we were received by bearded older man who seemed more accustomed to seeing witches than most people we saw.
âGot something for ya. 33 Jackson street, houseâs been empty for a couple months, mayor wants to sell it to somebody but thereâs a demon haunting it.â The man put a few pages of testimonies on the table, which my master quickly took and started reading through.
Morgana stroked her chin as she read, mumbling aloud any info she seemed to find particularly useful. âhmm, no one dead, a few light injuries, slashes to the walls, Â floor, and curtains, reported screams and cold sensation, attacks are most intense between 11PM and 2AM. Anything on the last occupants?â
âMan and woman, married for about 15 years, then she left him for another guy. Poor bastard got sick and died in 13 months.â The bearded man took a swig of his flask.
âThank you very much, I shall be expecting 50 coins as payment for the service and will warn you of any materials I require.â The witch turned to leave as she spoke
âBusiness as usual then,â the grizzled man replied.
As we got to the house, a large mansion made out of dark wood, with strikingly few windows, only about two a floor, I assumed my human form and asked my master, âSo, how are you going to deal with the demon? Do they have any specific weaknesses you can exploit? Any vulnerabilities to specific materials?â
âFirst off, itâs probably a spirit, not a demon. No demon would leave no fatalities in more than 5 separate encounters, the fact the incidents have been restricted to the inside of the house also  smacks more of the unfocused lashings out of a ghost than the conniving purpose of a demon. Secondly, but more importantly, I would advise against bringing the attitude of a hunt or assassination to this. Lesson 1: We are first and foremost scholars and healers, not hunters.â
I tried to take note of Morganaâs advice in my mind, it was the first official lesson she was giving me, though I was already feeling like my view of the world had been expanding rapidly. In according to the lesson, I attempted to shift my perspective on the goings on accordingly.
When we went inside the damage to the property surprised me, there were scratch marks on almost every wall, patterns of four paralel scratches, it reminded me more of a bearâs claws than a felineâs. Deep gouges and even a few broken windows, there was also a hair-raising chill covering every room, especially the bedroom.
After about 15 minutes, Morgana raised an index finger and said, âlisten⌠in the air comes a whisper.â Prompting me to take a deep breath and unfocus my eyes, and soon I saw a strange blueish-white blur in front of us.
âCanât⌠LeaveâŚPlease⌠Hurt⌠Pain,â I heard the loose words in a faint voice, and I was surprised to feel not fear or dread, but pity. It reminded me of the cries that animals make when they realise they will certainly die.
The witch, steady as a seamstressâ hand, brought out three candles, setting them on the floor in the shape of a triangle, saying âAlright, let us consult the patient then.âas she lit them.
The shape took on a much clearer form when the candle were lit, enough that I could see it without unfocusing my eyes. What we saw was a woman in a torn gown, her hair came down in front of her face but a shine from her eyes still came through, she was floating about a meter in front of us, lightly shaking as if wet in winter, her nails were longer than any humanâs, but they still seemed brittle, they must have broken painfully whenever she scraped the walls.
âHello miss, apologies for the intrusion, weâre here to help, how are you feeling? Could you tell us whatâs bringing you pain?â Morgana said, and I could truly feel the kindness in her voice, and understand that the womanâs spirit was not the problem the be solved here, but the victim she sought to help.
âI canât leave, if I leave I get hurt, I canât leave the house or  Iâll get hurt I canâtâŚâ The ghost rambled on, covering her face with her hands and I feared sheâd scratch herself, and I noticed several bruises on her arms and shoulders.
Morgana reached out, and the spirit flinched back from her hand. Which stood still in the air, Morgana had a sad smile on her face as she said âItâs alright, I wonât touch you if you donât want to, but Iâd like to take a look at your injuries once you feel confortableâ.
There was a deafening silence over the house as we waited for the woman to approach, cautiously, she touched my masterâs hand, lightly feeling at it, as if unused to the warmth of a human body, as she came closer, Morgana brushed some of her hair aside, revealing a cut to her forehead, apparently made with a knife.
At this point I noticed anger hidden in my master posture, her rigid shoulders and clenched hands, anger I hadnât seen at any point when she dealt with the werewolf or the angry townspeople. Still, her voice remained very gentle when she asked, âhe did this to you, didnât he? Heâd hurt you many times, did he trap you in the house?â
The ghost stared at the floor, clearly afraid, but not of us. âIf I left without him, Iâd get hurt, I canât⌠I canât leave the house.â
The witch gently stroked the ghostâs hand. âItâll be alright, I promise Iâll set you free, okay? You can go now, just wait a bit.â
The ghost nodded, and for the first time since Iâd seen her, smiled. âThank you,â she said as she disappeared.
We went back to the town and collected our bounty, when I noticed had come back to that dark mansion I wondered aloud, âare we done then? Was that all we needed to send the ghost away?â
âNot at all, my dear familiar, this was all research so far, Â the active part of our job starts now,â Morgana answered. As she spoke, she took off her long black gloves, revealing coal-black hands and forearms, almost up to the elbows
âYou see, when one loses their physical body and becomes a spirit, symbolic constructs of their mind become very powerful, to the point of affecting them in more âdirectâ ways, our patient has lived a large part of her life in a cage, and she now believes that the only thing that could help her leave is her jailor. However, the true key to her freedom now that the jailor is gone-â By now sheâd run her hand along the whole perimeter of the dark wooden house, coating it in a strange black soot â-Is to destroy the cage itself.â
She snapped her fingers and the âsootâ all around the house suddenly lit up, causing the entirety of the house  to catch fire, and quickly collapse into itself.
We stood there for minutes, watching the mansion burn bright, as she put her gloves back on, I wished to ask her how sheâd done that, and if her hands always had that coal-like appearance. However, the witch looked as if she was focused, waiting for something, so I held off on my questions. A wispy figure flew up from the flames, and I knew it to be the ghost from before, but now itâs form was much brighter and closer to yellow-tinted than blue, Â and I could swear I saw a grateful smile on her face as she rose to the skies.
âBeautiful night, isnât it?â The witch said beside me, her face illuminated by the flames, she looked very proud of her work, very confident in the positive impact sheâd just made on the world.
âIt truly isâ was all I could say. I was becoming more and more thankful for her allowing me to travel with her, something about this moment told me I was seeing something beautiful, something very few ever get to see.
âNow letâs go, people are starting to stare, and the mayor wonât be happy I destroyed the property he was trying to sell, you can climb onto my shoulder or keep up on foot, but we best be out of town soon.â Morgana turned to me with a cheeky smile, I assumed the form of a cat again and allowed my master to carry me as we walked briskly through the streets, off to another town, another problem to solve for people who wouldnât comprehend her work. I did however wonder, shouldnât we have told the people about what the ghost was and what exactly we did to help it? Could they not come to understand, given the chance?

Hiccup/Hiro/Varian OT3 Pokemon Headcanons
Okay, so. Iâm working on the next chapter of Chemistry in Motion, but itâs taking a bit longer than I thought it would. Mainly becasue weâre at a section of the movie I havenât thought about much. So, I thought Iâd have a little fun and give you guys something else to chew on.Â
I assure you, Iâm working on the chapter in tandem to this -Â
Pokemon Sword and Shieldâs expansion, Isle of Armor, released recently. So letâs have some pokemon headcanons with my newly-discovered OT3. I went kinda ham with this one so have a read more line. Â
Letâs talk about the boisâ home regions
Corona, I feel, is a lot like Kalos or Galar. Its power is primarily centered around a royal family, but a league was created that came to power. Eventually, though, the royal family and the league came to work together of sorts. Though, the king being the Champion helps that. It kind of blends Corona and the Dark Kingdom.
Berk and the archipelago arenât necessarily a region. They donât have a league, or a gym system. Sort of like Alola. However, they just live in tandom with pokemon, especially dragon, steel, and ice types, without any sort of training challenges. They just look out for their own.Â
Iâm borrowing the name âYuushimaâ from my People Like Us oneshot for Hiroâs home region. Itâs a more standard fare region. Your usual Leauge, Elite 4, Gyms. No royal power like Corona - the professor and League are the major powers.Â
Varian is the son of Quirin, ground-type specialist and one of the region of Coronaâs elite four, and Ulla, a prominent researcher who disappeared while she was exploring the regions to further her research in hopes of becoming a Professor.
Hiccup is the son of Berkâs chief. One of the many communities in his archipeligo. He wants to become an expert breeder and caretaker, and loves his dragon types so very much.Â
Hiro is from a fairly average family. The main thing being that his brother, Tadashi, is the assistant to Professor Granville - Yuushimaâs leading pokemon professor who took over for Professor Callaghan after he retired. He, himself, loves researching pokemon. However, battling is certainly more his forte. He has a talent for it, and wants to become a gym leader or even champion some day.
Okay, so what are their teams like?
Varianâs team consists of: A Zigzagoon, Shinx, Growlithe, Absol, Cubone, and Bannette.
Shinx and Growlithe are his lab assistants. When heâs tinkering with inventions or chemicals, you can expect Shinx to provide electricity or Growlithe to be heating the chemicals. Zigzagoon is something of a loyal pet and friend. Cubone was his first pokemon, a gift from Quirin (and yes, considering his mother when missing when he was young and what happens to Quirin in canon Iâm well aware of the irony. itâs intentional. I regret nothing).Â
Absol and Bannette are misunderstood babeys that Varian loves. Probably part of the reason heâs so misunderstood himself in Old Corona before his travels with Rapunzel and her friends. (also bannette is a vengeful spirit that tied itself to an abandoned doll so like - paralels?)Â
Hiccupâs team consists of: A Goodra, Noivyrn, Flygon, Altaria, Flapple, and a Dragonite. Yes, theyâre all dragon types. What did you expect? I considered a steel or ice type for balanceâs sake, but letâs face it. This boi loves dragons.Â
Goodra was his first pokemon. He found it injured as a Goomy and started caring for it. They became fst friends. Flygon was abandoned as a Trapinch by some senseless viking who didnât know what it evolved into. Hiccup took it in and raised it well.Â
Many of the others were hatched from eggs he found, or ones he got from other breeders just as theyâd hatched.Â
Hiroâs team consists of: A Magneton, Alolan Raichu, Klinklang, Rotom, Bisharp, and Glavantula
Magneton is his partner pokemon. Heâs had it since it was a magnemite, and itâs been with him for many an underground pokemon battle (which Tadashi hates that he does, by the way). He found Bisharp in one of those battles. Won him away from a trainer that was... unpleasant, to say the least.
He didnât realize he had an Alolan Pikachu until he evolved it! It was a pretty wild realization. He just kind of found it and took it in.Â
Klinklang, Magneton, and Galvantula are his lab buddies whenever heâs up to scientific shenanigans. He works pretty closely with them in a lot of his magnetism and robotics experiments.Â
So how do they meet?
Through Varian! After traveling with Rapunzel and her gang, he decides to go on an adventure of his own through the kingdoms, hoping to further his knowledge of pokemon. His goal is to learn more about his missing motherâs research, and has plans to become a pokemon professor one day.
He travels to different regions to study the relationship of the people and pokemon of those regions and how they differ. In the process he meets these two and they go off on a cross-region adventure together.Â
He comes across Yuushima first. Meets Hiro, the scrappy boy who loves pokemon battles and electric-types. Sees how his pokemon help him in his lab, and their similarities cause a quick friendship between the two of them. Before aunt Cass and Tadashi realize it, Hiroâs hugging them goodbye and heading off on a journey
They catch a ride on a ferry and at some point in their journey wind up realizing theyâre low on supplies. They stop at the first place available - Berk. It does wonders for Varianâs research - a place that doesnât rely on the league or a system of battling to dictate their relationship with pokemon. They meet the chiefâs son, Hiccup, and again form a fast friendship. So Hiccup joins them on their journey.Â
Cue a trio of sixteen-to-eighteen year-old boys on a roadtrip across the many regions of the world researching pokemon, and getting a few good battles in along the way for Hiro.Â
Have a few other ideas
So Hiro and his team love pokemon battles, and are always willing to pick fights! Theyâre usually the ones dealing with any pokemon thieves or the like. Hiccupâs not against pokemon battling if push comes to shove. With a team full of dragons, he can handle himself. Varian battles the least. He prefers to just enjoy time with his pokemon.Â
Hiroâs pokemon are generally fine travelling in their pokeballs. Hiccupâs Goodra is outside of its pokeball a lot, but most of his others are pretty chill. NONE OF VARIANâS POKEMON WILL STAY PUT. They either break out of their pokeballs on a whim, or just refuse to stay in their pokeballs at all.Â
Specifically, Zigzagoon is always out and about on Varianâs shoulders or scurrying between his feet. Bannette refuses to stay in its pokeball and Varian has to carry it to keep it satiated. Cubone has a habit of breaking out of its ball from time to time when itâs lonely. Absol is INCREDIBLY protective and will bust out of his pokeball on a whim to make sure no oneâs trying to hurt Varian. His pokemon just donât like pokeballs.Â
Hiro joked at one point that Varian carrying around Bannette is kind of spooky, and reminds him of horror movies. He talks about how itâs like some ghost kidd and his possessed pokedoll or something. So naturally Varian loves to tell ghost stories about times Bannette has spooked him in the lab.Â
Hiccup does not like said stories. Like, at all. He jumps and reacts every time and it makes Varian and Hiro keel over with laughter. Then soothe him saying it was only bannette and itâs okay.Â
Hiro and Rotom DO NOT HELP Hiccupâs ghost spooks. Like. At all. There are two ghost types on this team and Hiccup has had it up to here with their mischief. Because oh boy, to his boyfriends constantly play spooky pranks (good-natured, but still) on him with their ghost types.
They all love cuddling Goodra though. Heâs soft and sweet, and a bit mischievous but still. Heâs just so huggable, they canât help it. They have fallen asleep just snuggled around Goodra before.Â
