TMF Halloween Costumes Day Five (The Final Day!): Hailey as Cinderella!

I feel like Cinderella’s a character that fits Hailey really well. Because despite all the pain she endures, she’s still able to remain kind and forgiving. (And I could totally see Bethany wanting to dress up as a Disney Princess and practically begging Hailey to dress up with her.)

It's thinking about Drake and Halia parallels time. Because they literally consume my entire thoughts.

They're both a singer x person who they used to be friends with turned bully ship. Accept Drew was always a bully, and is now just also bullying Jake.

Also breaking down parallels between each individual character in this foursome.

Hailey and Jake

Both were singers who were bullied for their passion. Both are terrible at communication (though Hailey is much better at it than Jake). And then they foil each other becasue while Hailey stayed stedfast in her beliefs and didn't let the bullying change her, Jake did. He choose to become a bully to be accepted and to make the bullying stop. A survival tactic.

Which brings me to the next parallels:

Jake and Lia

Both characters were people who were bullied and then changed themselves as a result. They weren't able to stay true to themseleves and their passions. They wanted to be accepted, adn wanted the bullying to stop. So they did just about anything to make it stop. Lia and Drew

They have the most parallels lowkey in my opinion.

Both had friends who they really cared about (beyond platonic feelings, I'd argue), but ended up betraying in the end. Both characters were Jealous of the Music Club and how clsoe Jake was to them + missed Jake hanging out with them all the time and hurt him as a result. Lia with the leaking of the audio to the club and Drew during the whole Drake up debacle. Both deal with Zoey, and have a relationship with her in some capacity. And Both ended up leaving her because of her actions. Drew and Jake

Both have terrible communication skills. Obviously. But they way they're bad at communication is the same too. They both don't speak up about how they're feeling. With Drew I just think he's emotionally constipated. And wouldn't know how to express his feelings if his life depended on it. And with Jake I think he's just used to hiding himself for group acceptance. So it's partly people pleasing, and partly force of habit. But by hiding how they're feeling and not talking about it, they both let those feelings simmer. And eventually they get angrier and angrier at each other, over things the other had no idea about, and explode. Ta da! Drakeup.

Drew and Hailey

Both are stubborn, and surprisingly "Loyal." Like say what you will about Drew (There's a lot too say) but he cares about his friends.

They both are also wildly insecure. Obviously with Hailey we see that presented in her stage fright as a result of years of bullying. And while we don't have a reason for Drew yet, it's obvious he is insecure. Hailey clocked it so fast.

Also their own anger issues (not issues, but they're both hot heads). We don't see that in Hailey's characterization as much in later episodes, but in the early days she's a loveable hot head. Drew is a (not so loveable) hot head to. We see that when he snaps at everyone throughout the series, and also during his and Jake's fight. Lia and Hailey

Both Hailey and Lia were bullied. But while Lia decided to change herself to be more liked and to stop the bullying, Hailey remained how she was in spite of it. Halia is honestly just basically Sapphic Jailey. I will NOT take criticisms. All four of them parallel each other a lot. And that's what makes every possible dynamic in this foursome so appealing and interesting. They play off of each other really well, and the writing potential is INSANE.

oh gosh where to start. i gen think they are vv cute, a lot of chemistry and good dynamic!! theyre also fun to write hah i do think they should sort of fix their communication issues, for if they were to become endgame, they really need to adjust that and place trust in eo 😭 its solid, 9/10!

lander 😅

ah yes with the canon-implied ones.. it’s cute! not my cup of tea in a ‘omg lander interaction!!! *kicks feet*’ kind of way and i won’t consume content of them but they’re solid,, i do think zander needs to work on himself though.. 7/10!

another implied one! i think they’re very cute and this is honestly my top ship for both in regards of how likely they are to be canon 😣 they’re pretty compatible and i like how they can comfort e/o… 8/10

oh so you see… i truly can NOT understand how i feel about this myself— i don’t see them as a real, lovey-dovey relationship. if canon was SLIGHTLY warped a bit, i could honestly see it happening! idl using this term but drew would be a tsundere of some sorts 😣 i could see him saying ‘oh just go to class so you can try to pass 🙄’ then give him a peck on the cheek 😭 if ever though they’d have to communicate frequently so i definitely don’t understand myself.. warped canon 7/10 and canon 5/10

same with the above.. they’d majorly be a power couple™️ if they COMMUNICATEDDD!!!! like imagine they were tg and talked properly and drew being pathetically in love.. (pathetic men 😻😻) if they communicated — 9/10 and canon — 6/10

ooh i love this one!! its really cute, but honestly? it has tragic love capabilities. from my standing, it seems to me as though daisy will always and forever see him as just a friend. i do wish they could be something more, rhough i do see more endgame potential in jailey— 8.5/10!

i think they are SO adorable, i need them canon 🙏🏼 no but actually i love the malewife x girlboss dynamic!!! dynamics play a huge role in whether i like a ship or not, and this just happens to be my 2nd favorite ☺️☺️ i love how caring elliot is, and how, milly, known as a yapper, is shut up for the first time ever. it’s not the bullying, not the hardships, but this beautiful and kind ahh man that gets her to quiet up because of how geniunely astonishing he is. oh this sounds like a fanfic sorry uhm 10/10

“This is NOT a good idea! Someone will die-” 

Luke, is in a doubt, Questioning

“-of fun?!"

Luke suddenly runs and then Zander is very nervously running fast towards him.

“No- Wait! Luke- No- Stop!”

He stopped running after him. Luke stopped running too, he look at the sled that is tied on there.

He did not, in fact, stop. And instead, Luke pushed the sled down the hill, grabbed onto the rope that was attached to the back of it, and held on for dear life as Zander rode the sled and he slid down right behind him on his snowboard. 

Luke cheered with delight at the rush. Zander… Not so much.

“LUKE-!!” -then there was continuous screaming for the 45 seconds it took to reach the bottom of the hill. 

When they did reach the bottom, Luke fell into the snow and laughed, his cheeks and nose were red from the cold, his body buzzing from the adrenaline. He sat up, face flushed, and cheeks hurting from smiling. Zander looked at him in pure terror, 

“That was traumatic.” 

Luke rolled his eyes. “No, that’s called ‘having fun’ . Ever heard of it?” He grinned innocently. Zander scowled at him. “I will get you back for this, y’know. Just you watch.” 

Luke laughed and unclipped his boots from his board, he stood up, brushing off some snow. He leaned down and kissed Zander on the cheek, ��Sure you will.” he smiled, before running back to the ski-lift to go back up the hill. 

Zander watched from a distance, already crafting his master plan.

Milly shouted at Sean. Waiting for him.

“Hey Sean!” 

She asked him to want to go for a race.

“Wanna race~”

He blinked once, before grinning smugly.

“Oh, It is so on.”

*Sean answered and he agreed from her*

“On your marks… Get set… Go !” Jake shouted

He blows his whistle with a loud sound of a "TOOT!!"

Milly ran from where she stood, and jumped onto her mattress at the same time as Sean kicked himself forward on his snowboard.

as the sound when it's heard, a big... "WHOOSH!"  

They shot off. Milly cackled in a high pitched voice as she lay on her stomach, sliding down on her mattress faster than she could blink. Though Sean wasn’t easily beat. He lowered his knees and sped up. 

They were neck and neck, going down fast and dangerously close. Just as they were about to hit the last hill, Milly’s mattress sled off the side of a ramp, derailing her course. She screamed as she went crashing straight into Sean. 

The two ended up rolling down the rest of the way. And crashed into a soft pile of snow at the bottom of the hill.

When they got out, they collapsed on the snow, panting heavily as they watched the clouds, laying opposite each other. 

“Are you alive?” Sean asked, between heavy breaths. “Yeah… You?”

“Barely...” 

They laughed. 

“My board went somewhere.” Sean realized.

“Sheesh, I think my mattress actually sled away from me-”

Milly commented. She groaned loudly. 

“We should probably go find those, right?” 

She questioned.

“Absolutely.” He nodded

“I totally won that race by the way.” Sean remarked. 

They laughed loudly against each other.

“Okay, Jake. This is easy! You’ve gotten far on the small hills, now just try it on this one.”

Jake, was not exactly eager to please. 

“Are you kidding?! Did you not see the way Sean and Milly just crashed?! What if that happens to me?!”

Hailey shook her head. “The track is basically empty. And, the only reason they crashed is because they’re idiots and were going too close to each other.” 

Jake looked down at the sloping hill, and gulped. “You- You’ll be right behind me, though. Right?” He turned, uncertainty evident on every inch of his face. 

Hailey’s expression softened and she held out a thumbs up. 

Jake breathed out slowly. 

“Okay.”

“Alright! So for the first part, you want to keep your knees bent, it’ll help with your balance. Then, when you get near the bottom, you turn your legs inwards just like before, to slow down- Yes! Just like that! So then-”

They were interrupted by a loud thud, and Zander dropped his sled on the snow and fell back on it. He looked up to acknowledge their existence. “What are you two doing?” 

“Getting Jake to go down the blue track.”

She asked him.

“Push him.”

Jake looked alarmed at the suggestion. “NO! Do NOT push him!”

Zander smiled, and leaned back on his sled. 

Hailey rolled her eyes at him, but turned her attention back towards Jake. “C’mon Jake, you got this! I believe in you.”

He took a deep breath, and looked ahead. He used his ski pole to push himself forward, slowly, until eventually, gravity took a hold of him, and he started going down on his own. 

He sped up quickly- What was it that Hailey said?! Right! Bend the knees. Keep your balance. Turn your feet. 

But the thing that she had forgotten to mention. Was what to do in case of a ramp. And he was heading straight for one.

He turned frantic. He tried turning his feet inwards like Hailey had taught him, to slow down. But he was already going too fast. And It was already too late. 

He flew off the ramp, It would have felt exhilarating if he weren’t busy panicking over the landing. He felt his body fly through the air, he felt- Light.

Then he descended, and his skis hit the snow, and-

He didn’t die.

He didn’t die?!

He didn’t die!

They shouted loudly from being worried, as they heard.

Somehow, throughout his flight, despite his frantic thoughts, he’d managed to bend his knees when he landed. He literally landed the jump off the ramp!

When he got to the bottom, he didn't try to stop, and instead, let his skis skid to a halt on the snow. And when they did. He fell to his knees, his skis still hooke. He threw his hands in the air and cheered. 

Pretty soon, Hailey was down right next to him, and she congratulated him greatly. 

“See! I knew you had it in you.”

He laughed. “Hah! No you didn’t! You nearly killed me!”

“What-?”

She surprised.

“I have no idea-”

He shrugged.

He laughed again, and so did she.

✨🏕️🌨️~~~~

Almost everyone sat around the fire, roasting marshmallows in the flames. 

Milly frantically shook her skewer as her marshmallow had caught fire, and ended up dropping it in the fire anyway. She pouted and Hailey laughed as she handed her another one. 

Luke came up to them, looking around confusedly. “Hey, Guys… Have any of you seen my snowboard?”

No one said anything. No one needed to. 

Zander bit loudly into his s’more, and looked up at Luke, who was staring right at him. 

“What?.” He asked, through his mouthful of s’more.

Luke knew lt down next to him. “Zander. Sweetie. Light of my life… What did you do to my snowboard?” He asked, a hint of panic in his voice.

Zander shrugged innocently, but the smile on his face said anything but. 

“Oh, Y’know, just, wanted to see if it lived up to the name.”

“What in the world is that supposed to mean?”

He asked him.

“Don’t worry. It’s still in one piece.”

Luke let out a sigh of relief. Didn’t really last long.

“...Except that, that piece is under deep, deep, deep, snow.” he says, Calmly, as he pointed to the pile of snow that Milly and Sean had crashed into earlier.

Luke fell to his knees, put his head in his head and groaned. He grumbled loudly over his hands. “I will absolutely get you back for this!”

Zander gave him a kiss on the cheek and smiled. “Sure you will.” And he bit into his s’more.

He blushed from his kiss.

Everyone burst out laughing. Lovely day in the mountains.

A lovely day indeed!.

Day 22! Thoughts on Jailey!

Honestly, I think @ratkingnezu put it best: “It’s like choosing vanilla in an ice cream parlor.” It’s a cute and wholesome ship, but it’s very standard and predictable. It’s incredibly obvious these two are going to be canon by the end of the show and somehow that sorta takes the fun out of it for me. (Yet Lander’s already canon and that’s one of my OTP’s so don’t ask me how my brain works I couldn’t tell you.)

I understand why a lot of people ship it though. It’s very well-developed and they have some of the cutest moments together. (And Jake’s little “If you can’t look at the crowd, look at me, okay?” With Hailey nodding and trusting him had me giggling and kicking my feet.) But I don’t know. I never find myself daydreaming about these two. I just don’t really think they’re for me.
