#Revolutionary Girl Utena #Adolescence of Utena #personal #namely:#wow I sure do feel Dumb and unable to accomplish reading comprehension #I get SOME of it #I picked up on some of the motifs and the recurring symbolisms #but also I felt stupid when the big obvious pointing fingers with accompanying sound effects appeared on the screen #and every shot/reverse shot changing SOMETHING in the scene was nuts #people were not kidding when they said Utena was a trip #At once feels blunt as hell but completely opaque to viewing #I could not possibly tell you what each rose color that appeared on the screen meant #I can't tell you why the guys always ended up shirtless in their Plotting Scenes together #aside from the surface thought of metaphor for sex #the filler episodes really threw me to space #On the whole I enjoyed myself but I do feel like I'm an idiot who needs a class to figure out how to begin interpreting what I watched #fuck the Dune class I took #they need an Utena literature class

That one is very clinical... it is more of an invitation to imagine the minutia of it while describing what's in Kate's mind and the overall blocking of the scene if you will... hence, she can direct the smuttiest of scenes (even longer than that blue movie from like late 90s or early 00s that is just too much even for horny teen me xD) but cannot write something as enticing as what your standard AO3 person can. She's just a visual person

i'm really glad they never show meadow nude in the sopranos because everytime the main character is a parent i think a lof of audience members start thinking of them as their kids, and I'd be put in the parent's pov too even when the kid, who started out as a minor, is older than me by the time they're shooting the scene. and idk i'd feel weird about.

I once saw someone joking about the opposite of PWP (porn without plot) in fanfiction, wherein one would write a porn fic, and all of the setup to the characters getting it on, then simply skip the actual porn bit.

and I am just now realising that that is un-ironically how I write porn sometimes?

I think of a premise, spend hours writing the setup, then get to the actual sex part, and suddenly remember I don’t actually really like writing sex, so I abandon the fic.

Plot without Porn, guys.
