I want to raise this man from the dead
Crepus Ragnvindr is lucky he’s dead because otherwise he would have to put up with the shenanigans I do with the other sus characters in the game. Like, I already bother Cyrus and Timaeus and the Fatui in Mondstadt a lot trying to figure out wtf those guys know. The last thing Mondstadt needs is another sus NPC present, ESPECIALLY given all the questions I have for him.
Like, were you a harbinger or just a shady dude? Was it Dottore who gave you the delusion directly? Did you know that Kaeya was from Khaenri’ah and if not what did you think was going on? What was your relationship with the Knights, did you idolize them as much as your son or did you realize that they were as susceptible to corruption as anyone else as you grew old? And why did you let your son join the organization if you knew how effed up it was? ON THAT NOTE WHY TF WAS DILUC ALLOWED TO BECOME A CAPTAIN AT THE AGE OF 14?? SIR I GENERALLY THINK YOU WERE PROBABLY A DECENT DAD WHO TRIED HIS BEST BUT LIKE WTF IS UP WITH THAT DECISION SPECIFICALLY???
#crepus ragnvindr#caps cw#IDK#this man fascinates me and there are so many questions I have that only he can answer#BUT HE CANT ANSWER THEM BECAUSE HES DEAD AF#also apparently people are like divided on Crepus#it's either like 'oh he was a perfect father and that's why Diluc likes him' or 'he was the worst ever'#but like I think it's more likely that it's somewhere in the middle#like he's not perfect or even great imo#but he tried his best for his sons and probably genuinely loved them both#I think that he would have supported Diluc even if he didn't choose to become a knight and that he didn't DIRECTLY pressure Diluc into it#it was probably more like a 'hey wow I really wanted to be xyz when I was your age and I'm going to talk about all the good aspects of it'#kinda like how most parents do when they like their career and when you're a kid you  think your parents are right about everything#and you're like OH WOW MY DAD WANTED TO BE A BASKETBALL PLAYER AND HE THINKS ITS A GOOD IDEA SO I SHOULD BE ONE#when in reality they want you to go about your life in your own way but they still influence you#I would be lying if I said that my decision to go to college/do certain things with my life wasn't influenced by my parents#but it was still my choice to make#OR AT LEAST THAT'S PROBABLY THE WAY I WOULD THINK IF DILUC WASN'T FUCKING 14 WHEN HE BECAME A CAPTAIN#SERIOUSLY I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS#WHY WAS THIS BABY WHO IS YOUNGER THAN MY BROTHERS ALLOWED TO BE A CAPTAIN#WHO APPROVED THIS#Mondstadt is a fascinating place#Literally just say 'hey Diluc was the captain when he was 17' and I'd be like 'ok he was a bit of a prodigy'#'but I'm not concerned or anything' NO HE WAS 14 YEARS OLD THAT IS TOO YOUNG TO BE A CAPTAIN OF ANYTHING#LET ALONE THE POLICE/ARMY/GOVERNING BODY OF AN ENTIRE NATION#So yeah#I 100% get why people don't like Crepus for that ALONE#and also like no this guy was clearly not a saint#you don't wind up with an early delusion that was probably even RARER to receive than it is now#unless you were into some shady shit

So: 11 births a year paints a picture of a sizeable population of fertile adults on the Ninth. So why is the population in Harrow's time, about 18 years after massacre, all considered to be ancient and barren? Why is there apparently no one even close to Ortus in age, considering there were presumably people only a year older than him when it happened?
Menopause hits 95% of people between 45-55, even if we assume conditions on the Ninth favoured earlier menopause, that's still probably going to be around 45-50.
The WHO recommends a minimum of 24 months between giving birth and attempting to conceive again and considering the entire background of the Empire I'm inclined to believe they don't favour rapid-fire birthing (at least with XX carry).
So, 50% of people can get pregnant, birth interval of nearly 3 years, 11 babies born a year = 2*11*3 = presumably at least 66 adults between the ages of 20 and 45. And considering how necros have reduced fertility and again the Empire's views on reproductive choice I'd suggest it could easily be 3-4 times that, because it's hard to imagine everyone was having eight kids each. If we even just assume births were at replacement rate before the massacre, that suggests there were maybe 300 adults in the 18-45 bracket (11*(45-18)=297).
The Creche Massacre was ~18 years before the start of GtN, the younger adults of the time still wouldn't have hit menopause by the time of the first book. There must have been 20 year olds at the time who aren't even 40 yet so why is the Ninth still childless and populated only by the old?
Where are all the people just a year older than Ortus, who he was in the creche with all his life, who he must have know? The gap in the population doesn't seem to just be everyone who was under 18 at the time but also a wide margin above that too...
Some possibilities:
1 - Massive amounts of trauma from the loss of All The Children. Birth control is clearly a perfected art in the Houses and it's possible that a lot of parents couldn't face having another kid after that. Also presumably a number of young adults who lost siblings.
1a - I think of the Aberfan disaster and how survivors and their parents have talked about basically having to leave town because they couldn't handle the resentment from the other parents of the town. Was Ortus isolated purely because there was no one of his age or because his (engineered) escape left him surrounded by people who couldn't stand to even look at him?
2 - Mass flight of the young. The Ninth always had a healthy supply of supplicants from other houses, and I suspect that a number of them would have packed up and returned home after that. Too harrowing (pun unintended). Those who couldn't do that (e.g. Ninth native necros) may have been the last wave of cohort sign-ups from the Ninth.
3 - The books are narrated by teenagers. The populace might not be quite so aged as Gideon says, she's just an arsehole 18 year old and views 40 year olds as geriatric coffin dodgers.
4 - Some unintended necromantic side effect led to mass infertility in the populace. It's possible the necromantic shockwave that Harrow's parents harvested for this also affected the current unborn of the house and the fertility of the adults.
There's something else going on there and it doesn't add up. But I think the Reverend Mother and Father probably weren't expecting all births to halt, instead it would just be a blow to the populace that would recover with time.
ok so very cool that priamhark and pelleamena killed every single child in the ninth nursery in order to conceive a necromancer. except for gideon, who survived for Plot Reasons but like. they didn't know that would happen. and except for ortus, who was ostensibly kept alive to be harrow's cavalier. but like. did they not think even a SINGLE generation past that?? did they not realize that, by killing every child but two, at some point the only adults left on the ninth would (presumably) be harrow and ortus??? did they expect the reverend daughter to PROCREATE with ORTUS NIGENAD???? SHE'S A LESBIAN. WHAT WAS THEIR BACKUP PLAN

It is absolutely insane how in this year we can have one of the most famous men up on stage talking to fans about his favourite new project and he still can’t express himself fully because of homophobia. AND HE’S NOT EVEN GAY HIMSELF. I am actually so baffled and upset about this because how can we have this in this year? How can this still be a thing?

What can I say? They're my favorite.
#twdg#twdg clouis#clouis#twdg clementine#twdg louis#sometimes they creep back into my mind and i'm like 'ah yes' like a crow admiring a pretty stone they found years ago and kept#also thank you pi for the screenshots. i used to have a whole folder full of them but that was when i was doing themed nights#the source for these is me i just have a random document full of dynamics and ship things i enjoy because.....i dunno i like keeping track#and so many of them apply to clouis but there's also an overlap of with clouis and rose/alistair [my warden from origins and alistair] like#alistair's romance route is like an evolved matured and extended version of clouis sksksks gee i wonder if i have a type#look you present me with a character who deflects with humor and isn't taken seriously by the rest of the group and the longer you know the#the more you realize how high they've built a wall around themselves and how *unwell* they really are and how they're not as sunshine#as they present themselves and also they avoid leadership and responsibility until they grow closer with someone who pushes them#and they end stronger and more balanced as a person while finding the affection they've craved#and also there's the daddy issues#present me with that character as a romantic option and i'm in no questions asked okay i don't want the mean broody one that's meh to me#i want the one that has every reason to be broody but chooses not to be because they have a completely different defense mechanism#and a warped sense of themselves and self-esteem issues they leave unaddressed until forced to face them#i'm just saying i'm aware that i have a type i'm always going to gravitate toward clouis nearly checks all the boxes#also the lack of clouis these days? my crops are thirsty and i have too many ongoing projects to do anything about it other than this sksks#so until i make time to finish my long ass louis/clouis analysis this is the best i can provide for now

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AT ST DOTTOS?!? I appreciate everyone seeing the clear horror movie trap they were in and smartly running the fuck away. But like .....what was that though? Like.....healing magic is there, maybe, unless that was something else. But that doesn't explain stuff. And now everyone is just all horny for Brennan and Lou being dogs. I NEED ANSWERS!

Has anyone else in the tmnt fandom ever talked about these warriors who first banished away the Krang many years ago in the ROTTMNT movie?
Tumblr media
They had to have been part of the Hamato clan. I mean, they share the same colors of those masks that our turtle bros wear in the show. And why else would Splinter would already have the warriors weapons?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe we can learn more if the creators of ROTTMNT do anything more along with that upcoming comic that everyone in the fandom is getting so hyped up about.

"My name is Nyota. I'm the communications officer, I- I was born in Kenya- I used to have a cat, named Kamili. My first memory is watching my dad play the piano. I'm real."
Okay but I was wholly unprepared for how much it would mean to me to see more of Uhura's African identity actually being canonised by this show. The "I'm real" especially got to me; just a throwaway line but it really made me think of the Ben Sisko/Benny Russell parallels! Nyota, born in the 23rd century, is exactly the sort of person Benny Russell dreamed could exist in the future. She is real! She exists!

Okokokokokokokok, I’m going to be so serious for a second.
HOW DID LESHYCAT (THE SHIP) START???
I. Need. To. Know.
I have been mulling this over in my head for days I sincerely LOVE Leshycat, but I cannot fathom how it came about. Did a random streamer one day pair up leshy and some yellow cat? Did a famous fan artist start drawing leshy and a yellow cat together? Is this a thing that happens a lot ingame, leshy and the yellow cat? Was it just a unanimous decision amongst the fandom? I’d say that it was because of that Animated short about leshy cooking, but I swear I was seeing Leshycat stuff before that too, so Where did it come from??
Anyway, I’m going to go draw some leshy cat stuff now. Might post it in 10-100 business days, might post it in an hour. Tootles!

I was rewatching Project K and remembered that the first time I saw the doll that the Colorless king dances with, I thought it was a corpse he was dancing with.
Okay but I have a lot of questions about that doll? Like….why was it there? Did Colorless stop at the Real Doll store and buy it after he took over Weissmann’s body? Did Shiro already have it there for Reasons? I remember when I first watched the series I thought that it was a corpse too, but then when they showed it was a doll I assumed it would have some kind of significance related to the weird villain guy in the airship. But then it just….doesn’t. Ever. It’s just there so Colorless can be evil and look menancingly cool as he dances around. There’s no indication as to why it’s there or why Colorless is chilling with it. I’m just saying this should raise some very specific questions that need to be asked of Shiro, like maybe he was so lonely in his airship he bought a random doll to be his friend? Just get a plushie like a normal person. (Also I was hoping the S1 novelization would explain why this doll was there but as I recall it’s not even mentioned in the book. I’m chalking this up as one of those things that Gora thought would be cool but didn’t really fully think through and now try to pretend it wasn’t a thing at all, like how S1 Munakata keeps telling Mikoto to relinquish his throne but no one ever confirms if that’s an actual thing Mikoto could do and it never gets brought up again in subsequent media.)
