I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.

Being an autistic adult is so stressful. Just got an hour long call with my boss about how all communication issues are my fault, because my face and tone. I offered that maybe working here 7 years means that people understand I'm not being an asshole when I say "oh I thought that was obvious". Or that my neutral face reads as mad to them. Or that a bunch of people jumping in and yelling questions when I am 1 sentence into the explanation kinda stalls my brain out. So I can't answer and get stuck on the first question, because I'm not even sure they heard me at this point. Her response was to get mad that I pointed out that other people felt I was not being heard, that it's not just me who says this happens to me a lot, and that there is a pattern that the female team lead has all these double standards that never get brought up to people. Also that I might be making assumptions, but so are they.
Accommodations for autistic adults can be such a joke.
#actually autisitc#autistic adult#adult autistic#adult autism#her solution was effectively have long in depth conversations around feelings#oh and mask more even though that burnt you and made you almost quit#sooooo im looking for a job now lol

I love going viral on tumblr.com. It’s like if you stood in a field and said some of the stupidest shit a human being is capable of and then like fifty thousand crows attacked you

Around Christmas I always think of our old tom cat Buster. He was such a calm but dominating force in the house. He perfected cat hypnosis and took his job as defender of the house seriously. He massacred the mocking birds in the tree right outside our front door after they started swooping at us. He fought many cats out of our yard. Kept the moles and rodents away. And watched over us kids. When I spiked a high fever and started vomiting in my bed, Buster went and got my parents before I was even vomiting. He used to sleep in my bed some nights, and he was strong enough to push a child around if he felt like it. He would move my head between pillows so he always had a warm one. One Christmas, he went and found our black kitten who had sprinted off into the night. He showed up 2 hours later, cold and pissed, with the sad little void trapped between him and the door. He looked like a disappointed parent.
#he was such a personality#shame he attempted to fight a bob cat in the woods by the elementary school#he went out defending the kids once again

Hot take but I really do think that some of y’all need to consider how/why/when/how often you’re making fun of straight people for being straight
I do it too, I’m not going to pretend I don’t make jokes about the hets, or the down with cis bus, or whatever
But I recently befriended a cis, straight dude and I have watched him be dismissed, degraded, and unambiguously insulted for the perceived “crime” of being straight — all in queer environments where he is allegedly “completely welcome” and surrounded by “friends”
This guy is not a toxic person! But I have seen him be made to feel so small and like his comfort and safety in those spaces are conditional on his silence and acceptance of being treated like a human dunk zone, and I think that some of y’all have had so much shit from straight/cis people that the second you feel like you’ve got an inch, you want to luxuriate in the perceived catharsis of bullying someone who— actually —doesn’t deserve it
And until he very, very carefully mentioned to me in private that it makes him feel bad, I didn’t even clock that I was involved in doing that, that it had become so instinctive for me to make casual jokes like that, and that— well meaning or otherwise —I had been contributing to an environment that made someone I really really like feel like shit
So, I dunno, I think maybe some of y’all should think about that too

Should I ever become wealthy, I plan to be an old school eccentric weirdo. Meaning: do the fun drugs, pour all my money into art, die in a strange way (human combustion?), leave my money to some random theater.
That's my solution. Get billionaires out of politics and back in debaucherous theater patronage! That will lower the prices and we can laugh at Elon Musks inevitable death via heart attack on the toilet.
A common refrain when people bemoan the ever increasing prices on Broadway is to go support regional and community theater, and I do agree, both because these types of theater are artistically worthy experiences and because they are generally cheaper than Broadway or national tours.
However, I will note that for some of next season's shows, the major regional theater near me has a top ticket price of nearly $300, with over half of the seats costing upwards of $100 dollars. Of course there are other theater companies in my area with cheaper pricing, and even other dates and shows in that theater with cheaper pricing, but even then finding prices lower than $30 is tricky.
And to be clear, I do understand that mounting theater on all levels is expensive and many local theater companies have been on the brink of financial ruin since 2020. The money needs to come from somewhere, and charging $5 or $10 for every ticket would throttle most theaters into bankruptcy.
I don't have any real solution to this conundrum, as lowering the costs to produce theater is not a simple task, and attempting to lower ticket prices without lowering costs is not financially realistic for most theaters. But that doesn't make going to the theater any cheaper.
#bit really theater prices are nuts#sometimes i save up for a season ticket to the travelling broadway shows at the big theater in town#not only are the ticket prices high the shows are old#my local theater is struggling because hey cant pull in a younger audience because if they do contemporary shows they lose their regulars#its a no win situation for them
