So, long time no see

It’s actually pretty awkward to post this, but I thought I might as well.

Hello everyone! I wonder if some of you still follow me. It’s certainly been a lot of time. About what, five or six years? Plenty of time.

Anyways. I wanted to have you all know a couple of things, so, more under the cut.

First of all, I’m doing well. Some ugly things have happened over time, but at the time of writing this I’m doing ok.

I’ve made new friends, I’m about to start new things, like learning new languages and taking courses, my family is fine. I’ve finally gained some weight, I’m no longer a stick hahah! (I needed to gain it, so I consider that a win). Overall, life has been kind to me, not counting a few things, so I’m grateful for how things have developed. And now, here I am again!

Well, partly. I have to announce that I’ve sadly stopped playing Sims 2. Some years ago I purchased a much needed new computer, and I’m in that “it’s too new to run it without making a million things” situation, which I honestly don’t have the nerve to do now.

Instead, I’ve been playing Sims 4 on console. It’s not the same, the gameplay is quite different, but I like it enough to open it and do stuff. Build Mode and Cas are pretty fun! My origin account is JustPlaysAround if you’d like to see the makeovers I’ve made of some lots, I don’t remember if with the caps or not though.

So, what’s next? I’ve been thinking of making a personal Tumblr, just to more easily keep up with posts. I’ll have you know if I do so and you’d like to follow. I still log in to this one, but I’m not planning on keeping it updated as I’m no longer playing Sims 2. If you’d like to talk to me though, I’m still semi-active, I just don’t post. So feel free to chat with me!

Talking of Sims 2, and specifically about my downloads, I’ve seen the post about Mediafire closing accounts. So I wanted to say that my downloads will still be available for the time being. I’ll remember to log in from time to time so that it doesn’t get deleted. But, if you’d like to backup my stuff, let me know, I’d appretiate it a lot!

So yeah, those are the news. If you’re still here, thank you for the read, I appretiate that you took the time for good old me. How are you doing? Feel free to leave a reply.

So uh, hi? *pokes mic*

I’m slowly but surely trying to get back at the swing of things around here. I have managed to fix the issue I had with the game back then a little ago (after many game sessions and folder moving and suffering), but I’ve been a bit silent because of... RL. Which is the reason why I’m having trouble socializing and generally posting/talking. Seems like 2016 is already decided to give me the middle finger all year round. Yay.

But! I’m trying to get by with RL, even if slowly, and I’m trying to set up my game at the moment, so hopefully I’ll get back at it pretty soon!

Meanwhile, have a Leo moving stuff while I try and decorate a place for him. I have absolutely 0 projects in my head, but I found something that might just work for Leo’s new hood, so that’s got me excited already! :3

Oh no! That's really weird... :( *hugs* Do the thumbnails go well after you Ctrl+Right click on them? Graphics card issue perhaps?

*hugsback* <3 It is weird. I mean, when I did finish them they showed alright, I even Ctrl+Right clicked on some of them to update them the first time, but I noticed they started glitching when I entered YACAS to do the same work after I had done Buy/Build. Then I went back to CAS and they were failing too : /

They did fix when I Ctrl+Right clicked on them though. And I’m unsure about the graphic card issue, I’m basically running on the same setup than my old game, all I changed is to a different version of 7 (Ultimate to Professional), but the game funcions all the same after this. So IDK, I’m far from being computer savvy, so that doesn’t help matters : /

Did you update your computer recently? Running on Windows 10 now? There's a section on Leefish where Kiri is helping people with Windows 10 and graphics issues. She's very knowledgeable and super nice. I'd link, but I'm on my phone.

As mentioned above, I did update my software when I sent the computer to the service, but I only switched to a different version of Windows 7, so I’m not really running very differently from before. Even my hardware is pretty much the same, all I replaced was the CD drive because it was past broken. After that it’s all the same.

Ultimate collection or vanilla? How fast are you scrolling through CAS too? My game ALWAYS crashes if I click next too fast :( *supportive pats*

I’m running vanilla, I actually never got the UC :x (I could get it if I got into it and pestered the customer service because I still have the code for my basegame, but eh). But I think it might be related to that. Technically not for the fast, but I think it’s a matter of how many I’m generating: I need to generate all the thumbnails as I deleted the CASThumbnails file after all. So I think it may be suffering because of that.

I’m stuck because it had gone faster and crashed less before with the same level of content, but I think that if I go slowly I might get it done. It’s just a bit strange, and time consuming. I just hope it doesn’t bugs again after I’m done -_-

I’m getting so tired of this. It took me a whole week to get both CAS and the Buy/Build mode catalogue thumbnails to generate anew and have everything ready to play, and the moment I’m done and finally intend to play, I find that CAS somehow glitched and the thumbnails I took so long to restore glitch, and it generates new thumbnails for things I had already generated, and others appear broken. Some appeared cut half with colors or black, some where just lines splashed all across the image, rests of the actual thing. I literally had a thumbnail of a shirt I had already generated pitch black, with the face of a random sim on it.

So I delete (absolutely done) the CASThumbnails file to start those again, because I understand they may have borked (although it’s the first time ever this happens to me) and now I can’t even finish one age group without CAS crashing out. I don’t know what’s up with it, it had gone so smoothly before. I hadn’t changed anything. I even started the same way I had before when it had gone smoothly (with the same amount of content), and now I can’t get through without it either crashing or directly closing my game. No message, nothing.

I wanted to reinstall my game to actually sit, relax, and stop stressing over RL, which already has me stressed enough. Not stress over the game because when I fix something, something else breaks, and I need to launch my game knowing that it’ll crash again anyways because nothing works.

Ugh... I don’t know if this is really worth my time anymore. Game, I love you, but seriously give me a hand before I throw you out of the window

So, I’m finishing restoring my game and DLs folder so that I can play again, and today I had only Buy Mode to go. And as I had caught up with CC and had thrown it in the old folders, I sent a GUID scan to make sure that everything would work ok and I wouldn’t have any conflicts

Only thing is, I forgot to remove all the unnecessary folders and I just issued it with my whole folder in

So...

It’s still not official, but I’m pretty much sure that my hard drive is dying, and I couldn’t be more bummed about it

My computer had been showing small errors and freezing in the last few months but they didn’t seem like anything mayor, until a few days ago when I tried launching my game and it bluescreen-ed me not a couple of minutes into the loading screen. Now not only that, but it even bluescreen-ed while doing an antivirus analysis yesterday night, so I’m now worried what else may fail if I give it a try. Bleh

I luckily can still open it and was able to retrieve all my personal files and some sims files I’d like to keep in worst case scenario, and I still can browse the web as I’m actually writing down from here, but... I don’t have many hopes for it. So I’ll be taking it to the service in the next few days to see what I can do and if I need to replace it altogether, which would suck because I didn’t want to spend any more money than absolutely needed

So, I think I’ll be taking a forced leave from sims until further notice. Not that I was particulary active in the community lately, but I was doing little things in the background, which now will most likely poof into nothing *pouts*

I’ve been thinking of taking a little time from the game nonetheless, as I’ve been thinking of doing other stuff and being a bit more active in my everyday life, so this may be actually not be a bad thing. Yes, a bad thing because money will be lost and I may need to set up my computer again, but it’ll give me a kick towards RL which is also pretty important. We’ll see what happens after the service gives the veredict : /

But, yeah, pretty much all this. I’ll be keeping you updated, luckily the mobile app is still a thing that relatively works!

Reading the Bon Voyage game guide for tips on details to apply to Twikkii, I’ve come to realize that I want things that I can’t have, either because they don’t exist or I’m too brainless to ever make them

My main craving being the special dishes from the Far East and Mountain food stands extracted/remade for regular use as the Restaurant and Island ones were. I had forgotten I was sad and longed for those and now I remembered and I cry 8)
