Resolutions?
It was never a āthingā for my family to make New Year Resolutions. New Years was just about spending time with the family, watching the ball go up around 9pm, and then going to sleep at 9:30.
This year, though, I found myself reflecting about the past year. I had a kid, and was able to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I wanted to lose more. I wouldnāt characterize myself as āover weight,ā but I would like to melt off a few more pounds so that I feel comfortable in my own skin again.
This past year, I wasnāt good at dieting or exercising consistently. I would start and be good for about 1-2 weeks and fall off the rail for another 1-3 weeks, and repeat. I was just going around in circles, feeling annoyance at myself for āhaving to start over again,ā and not being more strict with myself about x, y, and z. The more I thought, the more I came to realize that my whole view last year was wrong and I came up with a few things to remember.
Remember that itās okay to skip a workout! Iāll be the first to admit that when life gets a little busy ~ especially being a teacher AND a new mom with a one year old ~ Iāll opt to not workout that day because āIām too tired,ā āI havenāt spent time with my family,ā āI have too much work to finish,ā āI just want to relax.ā Excuses, excuses, excuses. After one pops out, it soon flows like a river, and suddenly I havenāt worked out in about 3-4 days. At that point, I feel like itās been far too long since I worked out, and now I NEED to start my program over. WRONG. Starting today, I need to stop thinking like that. If I skip a day, thatās FINE, just donāt make it a habit! (And always start back up where you left off!
Remember that itās okay to have something junky occasionally. Iām totally the type that can do pretty awesome the first two weeks of ādieting,ā but then suddenly I get cravings OR someone brought āgoodiesā to work, and the temptation is just too great! Itās OKAY to have a treat, JUST DONāT GO OVERBOARD! (And I do go overboard every time since if you binge your body wonāt know that itās multiple things, lol.) I have to tell myself: itās not really dieting, its just being healthier as a whole.
Remember to make my health a priority. I donāt have my health in mind when I stress eat 5 cookies at work, or buy all the junk and binge eat at home to feed my feelings. Every time Iāve done those things, I have never felt good about myself afterwards. I always felt like my actions have always put me back at the starting line.
Remember to love yourself. Being healthy and fit takes time. Iāve read countless of blogs and commentary where they say that you need to love yourself BEFORE you workout, otherwise you will never be happy with what you see in the mirror. This is so true! From the ages of 18-31 my weight has ranged between 109-165 pounds, and I have NEVER been comfortable in my own skin (even when I weighed 109 ;=_=). I always would work out so I could ālook better.ā
This year, Iām going to keep these things in mind. Now onto Days 1 & 2 reflections!!
Lemme just say: IāM SO SORE!!! And Iām very much enjoying Lift4! The workouts are pretty intense, and leave you hurting the next day.
I was still contemplating on what to do with Lift4, and have decided that Iām going to run on my āoff days.ā Starting today, Saturday, and Sunday, I will be going to the gym and hopping on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes. Iām going to use the āRunningā app and do the āRunning for weight lossā training plan.

So while I was in Maryland still made sure to to the gym and working out. Even tried the dearbee card. I must say the outlaw card from the site gave me solid workout. Sunday rested up Monday after getting back from Richmond want a head and ran with the training mask. Beach kicked my butt.
