The Overlords in my rewrite

For the first lore dump of my AU is the Overlords!!! :D

So I will be going through a few details in this AU, Discussing a short overview of what the Overlords are, how many are there (as of season 1/ maybe season 2), what are some up and upcoming overlords, what areas they control and what are their respected… well overlord titles.

What Are Overlords?

Simply put, in hell the Overlords are Powerful sinner demons in hell/Pride ring, who have managed to control or grow their Powers/abilities and can make contracts to sinners when their power has been at their absolute peak. They also run districts/territories in Pentagram City That they claim by going into brawls and turf battles after every extermination to get more open land for themselves and to spread their businesses.

How many are there?

There used to be over 500 overlords over the past centuries but most of them have either:

A: died due to being stuck outside for extermination day and killed by an exorcist.

B: Killed with Angelic Weapon Slivers by either Sinners/Hellborn/Others.

C: Or had their Souls being drained(A trait that only Alastor can do)

How can you tell when someone is a overlord?

One simple detail to tell if someone is an overlord is with their sclera, Red sclera is one hell of a tale-tell sign that someone is an overlord some examples of some overlords with the sclera:

However, there are a couple of overlords with some exceptions to these rules (Zelestial, who is the main head of hell archival history, overwatches the current overlords and has to report to Lucifer around 4-12 times a year about their duties to make sure they're staying in line and oversees their districts. And Rosie a Cannibal overlord who owns a small county like town in Pentagram City called Cannibal District)

How many are there in total(As of the story's current set)?

Simply put there's a total current of 13 overlords(with only two half overlords those being Carmilla's adopted daughters) While mentioned earlier there were hundreds in the past but as of now most sinners in hell(or well those who have their souls not in a contract) aren’t patient enough to develop their powers to try and become overlords and there are those who are too afraid to defeat an overlord to even try.

As of now here a small list of the current amount of overlords:

Zelestial: The overlord who is also a right-hand sinner demon of Lucifer

Carmilla Carmine: The overlord of Ironworks, she created and distributes iron all over Pride and the other rings, she also hosts a bi-yearly underground weapons auction event that tends to sell weapons that cannot just kill sinners but also higher-ranked demons, although Zelestial tends to keep those meetings out of his reports…

VeeCorp: VeeCorp is a conglomerate of three overlords who have Vs in their names and they tend to run the media of Pride

Vox: He is the overlord of television, he runs at least 80% of all television channels and sells his tech products also used to have some sort of beef with another overlord in the past by the name of Alastor.

Valentino: He well, the overlord of pornography in the pride district, runs all types of pornography films and runs a few successful brothels in Pentagon City; as of right now he is very furious over the actions of a certain star in his contracts, one who goes by the name of Angel dust.

Lastly Velvette: Is the Social Media overlord, She is what Vox and Val consider the backbone of the trio itself; she posts pictures on social media, participates in trends, and participates in interviews hosted by Voxnews, and she is even working on her cosmetic brand, while people may think shes the weakest due to her powers not being all that stronger compared to her two male companions… it's her brain that is her true power.

Lastly as of now there Alastor: The radio demon, is considered to be one of the most deadly overlords due to going on a draining spree 8 decades ago draining and surpassing many overlords and becoming more powerful(he is only 4th strongest He’s behind in order Zelestial, Carmilla Carmine, and Vox) he also continues to host a radio show where he use to broadcast screams of all kinds of victims of his in the past. Lately, he's been MIA in the past 7 years with people thinking he had been either killed by Vox, or an extermination angel but now he's back and working for Lucifers wacky princess daughter

Wannabe Overlords:

Wannabe overlords are a simple definition they are sinner who are slowly growing their powers but are not yet overlords; and example of one of these is a spunky died around the 80’s explosive maianc who goes by the name Cherri Bomb, wannabe overlods tend to have a mix of their normal sclera(which is either yellow, green or lilac) being faded away with the red coming in. (example shown with cherri bomb) As for the current number their are many wannabes but an estimate as of now is around 50-100

What would happen if someone were to overpower/kill an Overlord?

If you were successful in Killing an Overlord; then you simply get the Overlord's area and of course all the resources they have(like Money for example). Soul contracts wouldn't be one of them; If an overlord were to die their soul contracts would be set free.

What areas do some of these overlords run:

Nearly every single overlord tends to run a certain area of pentagram,(The map here will show only a few select areas where overlords live and where their work is located ((map will be updated in the future)))

Of all the theories as to how Carmilla and her daughters found eachother in Hell (adoption, reuniting after they died, one or all three being Hellborn, ect;), I think my personal favorite is the one where Carmilla was either pregnant when she died or later gave birth to a child she miscarried when she was alive.

But whether or not that’s true, one of my favorite crack theories/headcanons about Carmilla being pregnant in Hell is how absolutely weird the other Overlords would be about it- because let’s be real, they would absolutely be weird about it. Maybe supportive and weird, but weird.

Zestial, nervously following Carmilla around: My darling. My own heart. I beg of thou, please, for just a moment.

Carmilla, still stubbornly walking around in her ridiculously sharp shoes: I’M FINE.

Zestial, who’s been trying to get her to sit down or at least change her shoes for over an hour: 0,_0

Rosie, crouched at her side with a glass of something red and questionable: I’m telling you, honey, just try this. It’ll cure that morning sickness in a jiffy.

Carmilla, curled up on her bathroom floor: …it disturbs me that I’m nauseous enough to actually be considering this.

Zestial comes to her rescue and shoos Rosie out to go make her some (GINGER) tea before Carmilla can do something she’ll regret.

Alastor, gazing suspiciously: Why on earth is your abdomen moving like that? Is something trying to break out?

Carmilla, too exhausted to deal with this: That movement is my baby kicking, Alastor.

Alastor: Pardon? You mean to tell me that one can see that on the outside? Eugh.

Carmilla, glaring at him: You are so lucky you’re not worth getting up for.

- Rosie insists on throwing her a baby shower. Vox and Alastor get kicked out for fighting and are forced to put together the IKEA furniture for the nursery as punishment.

- I seriously doubt this lot can build and work an ultrasound machine, so something like this is likely.

Carmilla, slowly coming to after giving birth: Mmmh…?

Rosie, happily bouncing one baby in her arms: Oh good, she’s up! Congratulations, sweetie. You have two beautiful daughters 🥰

Carmilla: ….

Zestial, who’s gently cradling the other: Carmilla…? Is something the matter?

Carmilla: …there’s really two of them. I thought I was hallucinating.

hey! this is actually something i've thought about quite a lot before so here's how i see it:

since monsters are so diverse in the monster world, there are a vast amount of factors that are considered beautiful. some monsters may like 1 eye, some like 3 eyes and some like 8. some like feathers, scales, or fur. it just comes down to preference. but for monsters, generally, scary = beautiful

firstly, for the teeth thing, i imagined that just like human beauty standards, monster beauty standards can change. perhaps yellow teeth used to be the standard, but then it was discovered that whiter teeth made them more visible and gave them a scarier appearance. also, maybe they discovered that poor dental health caused monsters to lose their teeth sooner, which is a problem if you rely on them for scaring. proper dental care allowed you to stay healthy and kept your teeth in good condition, keeping you in the scaring career for longer. like when sulley is brushing his teeth in mi, mike really emphasizes getting rid of plaque

this change could also be why randall's teeth in mi are visibly whiter than they were in mu

as for female monsters, i see it sorta like how jessica rabbit from who framed roger rabbit is in toon town. she's regarded as very beautiful, but not as desireable or successful (to other toons) as roger rabbit, someone more cartoony and goofy looking

so though the more humanoid looking monsters could be considered beautiful, since being a scarer is known as the biggest achievement a monster could have, if you're scary, you're considered beautiful on a whole other level.

another idea i had is that scaring could be considered as a male dominated career, so the scary/beauty standards for female monsters aren't as scrutinized as much as male monsters. this could be why there are more female monsters that aren't necessarily as "scary looking"

this could also play a role into why the pnk's are so cutthroat- with a more conventionally beautiful appearance, they might not be considered the most successful in monster society. sure they could be models and movie stars

(though i can still see """scary/conventionally unattractive""" monsters being just as viable as models and moviestars in the monster world, maybe even more so),

but since scarers are the creme de la creme, "prettier" monsters could sometimes be seen as beautiful but maybe not typically the image of someone "successful" or "desireable" (my oc lia is a scarer and has a body type similar to the pnks so i made this an insecurity of hers hehe)

but monsters can combat this by showing their scariness through their glowing eyes, teeth, claws, etc. this could be valuable as well as there's a scary/surprising factor to appearing "innocent" at first, which could be advantageous in scaring, if you know how to use it (like the pnk's in the toxicity challenge or terri and terry in the scare simulator)

also considering the movie poster seen in maw; it's about monsters in space, likely referring to aliens. humans could be considered aliens/alien-looking to monsters because they come from another world, and heather has a more humanoid appearance

on the other hand, hss is more favored as "one of the most powerful, scary monsters in campus, and they have a more traditionally "scary" appearance. and in monsters at work, of the female monsters in the mu sororities, rosie levin was the one who made it to the same scare/(laugh) floor that sulley/(mike) are/(were) on, at monsters inc.

so really i think beauty is subjective in the monster world since everyone is so different. conventionally beautiful monsters are still beautiful, maybe even some monster's preference, but scary monsters are generally favored most, because of how much monster society is centered around scaring. after all, "scariness is the true measure of a monster."

in the back of his mind tommy always had a fear that he would turn out like his father. a drill sergeant, someone who caused harm and pain with his words of venom instead of his fist. and the thought of becoming a father terrified him even more.

frankly, for a long time, he never thought he would become a dad. no one ever stayed around long enough for him to even think about it. that was until evan buckley, the man that turned tommy’s world upside down for the better. and tommy started to believe that this is something that he could do. so when buck decided to give tommy a second chance, he knew to not waste it. he knew he was going to give this incredible man everything he wanted.

and he did, they bought a house together six months later, engaged after one year and married not long after that. and when buck started dropping hints about them having a baby, he gave him that too. they of course talked about tommy’s fears and buck did everything he could to reassure tommy. he went to therapy and talked it out, but that fear was still there. that was until the moment he held his new born son for the first time. baby henry who was so new, so fragile, so soft. who curled his hand around tommy’s finger and snuggled his head into tommy’s chest.

tommy vowed that day he would be nothing like his father. he showed henry love, taught him empathy. held him close while he cried after a nightmare instead of scolding him for being a wimp. told him how blessed he was to be his father instead of telling him he was his biggest mistake. taught him it was okay to play with dolls and dress as a princess with his sister and cousin rather than calling him hateful names.

and in the process of helping raise such a wonderful little boy, he also helped heal the child inside of him that spent years begging for a father who cared.

Here’s a VERY shittly done meme about the Eve craze

I want to be clear-I’m not making fun of any of these theories. I’m glad everyone is having fun and looking for clues, this is just lighthearted humor about how everyone is Eve-which yes I love go ahead and make everyone in Hazbin Eve

Okay but the whose Eve hits on even a funnier level to me because I am guilty of this-when I first made Donna, I was making her to be Eve. For like a week, then I wrote a snippet of that idea, realize it was stupid, and made her a fallen angel that was in love with a cannibal overlord (side note, can you tell my bias for the whose Eve’s theory lol)

But despite the fact we have not seen any Eve, I am SO invested in her. I really do love all the theories everyone is making about her and I love all the different designs and concepts people have. It’s so creative and so much fun.

So keep guessing whose Eve and keep drawing her I love it all

Random headcanon I probably like too much is the idea that Rosie never really swears, or at the least she swears even less than Alastor.

Like, she could if she wanted to, and she's not aghast when people do. She just doesn't. There's something about a cannibal lowkey drawing a line at profanity that gets me giggling.

Alastor makes sense he swears, he's from the south so he probably picked up on that sort of talk even with the transatlantic accent. Obviously he's learned to filter swearing and profanities out for radio, but like to imagine another reason he doesn't swear that much was Rosie rubbing off in him (the irony that his swearing decreased in Hell more than Louisiana is... accurate actually)

While not my favorite relationship, I really do love Rosie's and Alastor’s close-knit relationship and can't wait to see them interact more with season 2. They've also been described as having a relationship similar to Mary Poppins and Jack, so curious if they'll establish them as mentors and protege to a degree or at least just have Alastor always looking happy/in awe at Rosie.

A thought had occurred to me. What if whatever living things that come in contact with Lucifer, their souls are tainted and they go to Hell. So with Alastor's mom, Nicaise had interaction with Lucifer, after she die, she went to Hell.

I imagined in one scenario both she and kid Alastor in hell, had to fend themselves against sinners, hellborns and exorcists in every extermination day. Nicaise may have to learn few tricks while kid Alastor go monster on who would dare to harm his mother.

Maybe because I want to see interaction of Nicaise and Rosie while Alastor play with the cannibals children.

Another scenario would be when Alastor die, he reunited with his mother but then feel angry at everything because out of all the people he had known, his mother does not deserved this fate.

He would probably be overprotective of Nicaise leading him to be anonymous radio demon instead of broadcasting his victims. Probably will see the hotel as a haven because exorcists can't harm hellborns and Charlie can use that to her advantage.

Well, first of all, that would be very very unfortunate for anyone who served Lucifer drinks on his vacation. Or just bumped into him in the crowds.

But it would also make for a pretty interesting scenario. I doubt there's anyone who could exist in Hell for any length of time without being changed by it. Even Charlie brushes off getting a bit of some guy's brain stuck in her eye. Nicaise knew how to hunt a bit so she at least already knew how to use a gun. It didn't matter to her that Alastor had these bizarre powers, he was her boy and she was going to protect him!

I do think she'd try to go to Lucifer for help, once she learned who he is. The problem would be that he wasn't really accessible to her. It's safe to assume that Lucifer's home is somewhere in the Pride Ring, but there's nothing in the overhead map of the Pentagram that appears to have some link to Lucifer or any of his motifs, aside from the Hazbin Hotel itself.

It could be his home is somewhere outside the ring of mountains that surround the Pentagram. Or maybe it's up on that red... moon? The body floating near Heaven. Lucifer can create portals so it would be accessible to him, I think. Or his home could be hidden down in the sprawl somewhere but regardless of where exactly Lucifer lives, it's not someplace regular sinners would be able to just stroll up to.

So Nicaise and Alastor are pretty much on their own, but at least they have each other to rely on. And that allows them to at least maintain a sliver of their own humanity. As hard as Nicaise tries to protect Alastor, however, Alastor is so much more powerful that it often ends up the other way around. She gets a job playing piano at a bar, insisting that Alastor remain home and safe, but after the first night Nicaise comes home covered in bruises Alastor starts sneaking out to follow her, and when he sees the bar patrons getting handsy with his mother he goes ballistic. He wasn't trying to turn the patrons into chuck beef, exactly. Or, it would be more accurate to say, he didn't realize he could.

Nicaise lost her job, but worse was the look of abject horror on her face at the carnage Alastor had caused.

Nicaise's expression haunted Alastor. Hell, he scared himself. He was still a ten-ish year old kid at this point in mind as well as body, and he didn't know how to reign in his emotions to prevent more explosive outburst like that. He was scared and vulnerable... Ripe for a deal to be made.

Nicaise meets Rosie while out looking for a new job. She made her way into Cannibal Town by accident, and unfortunately encountered some less friendly residents who zeroed in on her as potential prey. Nicaise was able to kill two of them and in doing so attracted Rosie's attention. Rosie came to see what the commotion was and to try to settle things, by which I mean crush whoever was disturbing her peaceful Cannibal Town like an insect. But when Nicaise pointed the gun at her and declared that she didn't care if Rosie was an Overlord, nothing was going to stop her from betting home to her child, Rosie paused. Child sinners are extremely rare, and don't generally last long in Hell. The only child sinners we've seen so far are in Cannibal Town, so I like to think Rosie might have a bit of a soft spot for kids and takes any child sinners she comes across in Hell under her wing. She calls off her cannibals and invites Nicaise to her parlor for tea.

The meeting ends with Nicaise getting a new job and a modicum of protection. Non-cannibals aren't allowed to be residents of Cannibal Town and Nicaise refuses to eat demon flesh (at first) but Rosie sets her up with a new gig at a music venue in Cannibal Town and a guarantee of safety for her and her kid while they're within Rosie's territory (Rosie's playing the long game here; she's fully intending to recruit Nicaise and Alastor into her following). It's all suspicious but Nicaise can at least return to Alastor with the good news that she has a way to put food on the table.

Only when she returns home, Alastor is gone.

Alastor reappears the next morning no worse for the wear to find Nicaise frantic. She checks him over for injuries while he insists he's fine. He won't tell Nicaise where he disappeared to though. It becomes apparent soon after that something about Alastor is different. As the weeks pass, Alastor gains control over his powers extraordinarily quickly. He stops causing random outbursts of green flame or exploding lights. Suddenly he can melt into shadows at will and pop out wherever he pleases. And creepy little dolls appear out of nowhere to do his chores for him or make mischief around the house. As relived as Nicaise is to see him learning to control his abilities, she can't help but be suspicious of this sudden mastery.

Shortly after, Overlords begin to disappear.

I recently played through Wriothesley's story quest, and the ending was just so sweet? The first ever wedding in the Fortress of Meropide!

I feel like Avice and Faissolle would love to be married by Wriothesley, it just takes them a while to get the guts to ask. And well. How can he say no, after everything they went through (besides, I think he'd genuinely be pretty flattered to be trusted with such a thing haha)?

So Wriothesley gets officiated and everything-

((Wriothesley: Hey, can I marry two people?

Neuvilette: That depends. Is Sigewinne aware and alright with it. Answer carefully.

Wriothesley: ...Can I officiate a wedding, I mean.

Neuvilette: ...Oh! Yes, of course, allow me to find the paperwork for that.))

- just for the occasion. There's a ceremony and a reception and they even found someone to make a cake and everything!

And as he sits off to the side, watching everyone celebrate, Sigewinne spins into view after whirling around the dance floor with several of the guards and inmates. She sits in the chair nearby, decides that's not close enough, and then literally just hauls herself up to sit on the edge of the table right up against Wriothesley. Wriothesley leans his head against her shoulder. Sigewinne leans her cheek against his head. And then they just kind of sit there like that and watch everyone party, the bride and groom in the middle of the crowd.

Sigewinne eventually grabs Wriothesley's hand, and he asks her what she's plotting. Sigewinne tells him "Oh, nothing," as she rubs the pad of her thumb over his ring finger. "Just thinking."

O BTW i watched the first ep of the dungeon meshi and I RLY LIKE ITTTT ive been meaning to start the manga for yrs but never got around to it TT... trigger seems to be doing rly well w the adaptation tho from what ive heard manga readers say and well just from watching it blind myself i alr rly love it and cant wait to see more...!!!

i currently have a half-baked theory about alastor…

ok so in the finale, he said that he wants freedom, meaning he has been restricted in some way. but as far as we’ve seen and can tell, he is basically free to do as he wishes. and of course there’s the theory with lilith being the one owning his soul, which he might have traded away to gain such insane amounts of power. but what has he ever done that didn’t seem to be in his best interest?

yea, yea, i hear you and your sassy clips of him saying he’s helping the hotel simply for boredom’s sake and that he enjoys watching people try to do something meaningful but then fail in the process but! that would imply that he’d done so before, but we have never, not once, ever heard that he even dabbled in such a thing. (and don’t you dare try to tell me that he actually cares about charlie, the man is the most manipulative, sadistic little mf i’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something because i’ve seen miraculous ladybug and hate liela rossi as much as anyone else.) the only things we know about his past is that he appeared in hell very suddenly with lots of power, he toppled countless overlords overnight, and his radio podcast killed tons of demons. nothing of this has to do with other beings in hell trying to make it better (as i highly doubt any of those overlords had good intentions since they were, well, overlords). but he doesn’t seem the type to do things meaninglessly, he always has ulterior motives.

but then if his excuses of entertainment are as flimsy as i’m making them out to be then why would he ever help charlie? well, i think that brings us back to lilith. it’s far from a rarely-noticed detail that the length of alastor and her’s disappearances were for the same amount of time and while we know that lilith spent that time in heaven (if that even is lilith, but idk enough about that theory so i’m just gonna assume that it’s her and that she’s been in heaven the whole time), we don’t have a smack-dab CLUE as to what alastor was up to during his vacay. then he just shows up out of nowhere, at the idealistic princess of hell’s doorstep of all places.

well, i’ve had a sneaking suspicion for a while that lilith’s deal (at least part of it), in exchange for his power, was to help charlie in some way. i’m thinking that’s why he seemed so torn-up about how he almost ‘died for his friends’. he doesn’t care for any of them (except maybe nifty but i think that’s just bonding over shared mania (i think rosie (and maybe zestial) is the only one he truly, honestly cares about, but i get the feeling that even that relationship is pretty business-based)).

we have no idea what lilith is like, we have absolutely zero characterization of her except for what charlie explains about her in episode 1, that she’s passionate and hardworking and stubborn and independent—qualities that charlie mostly has in abundance. so i would say that she’s cared about charlie this whole time but due to whatever is keeping her in heaven, she can’t help her, except that lilith seems a little too malevolent to care about charlie’s hotel. why would she? she fell in love with a dreamer who shared her rebellious heart and for this, she was the first human soul cast into hell. she has never had any kind of reason as to why she would ever want to go to heaven, or anyone else for that matter (as she did work to make hell into the semi-civil place it is now). and we have no idea how close she and charlie were before she left (i suspect we’ll learn more about that in season 2), so we can’t assume that she’ll just support charlie, whatever her aspirations may be. so i honestly have no idea as to why lilith would enlist alastor to help charlie, but i am fairly convinced that this is the case of what’s happened.

Summary:

Martin Blackwood woke up with one goal in mind; make sure he gets this job.

Although the pay is not spectacular, the Magnus Institute is more than enough to keep their bills paid. An academic faction with an interest in the supernatural would surely jump at the chance to gain a 'Parapsychologist' in their ranks.

But when Martin sits in that meeting room, it's not a two-century body hopping madman before him. No, instead, he faces an even bigger threat;

A widowed father who can do a background check.

Bellefast has been coming to me in my dreams recently, in a similar way to how Monteith and Jibblie do

I find myself at The Circus, but in a sleeping quarter of some kind. And I can hear the festivities going on outside, in the big top. I'm apparently just passing through, but know everyone well enough that they let me stay on the property.

The only person I don't know is Bellefast, which is strange since he's the Ringleader, you tihnk I'd know him quite well, if I know all the clowns and performers and stagehands.

And he doesn't know me. So when he stumbles into the sleeping quarters, whiskey and candy floss on his breath, and falls into the bed, he's caught by surprise. As am I.

It feels like maybe a creative exercise? Maybe my brain wants to flesh this character out more, so it's putting him into my almost asleep brain so that I have to learn more about him.

So far I've learned he has a drinking problem.
