Magic Mike. Monsters Elementary Animatic. 2014 Mike thought that using Randy as his assistant would work magically since Randy has the ability to camouflage… HE CAN DISAPPEAR!! Too bad Randy is allergic to flowers. I’m sure they’ll sort it out.

Ok so we don't know what kind of uncle Randall is to Rex since they never interact. All we know is that he must sometimes take care of him since for being at Monster Inc's daycare that day he must have brought him himself there because he had to take care of him but couldn't when he worked, but we don't know if he likes him, dislikes him, is cold, is good only to him/his family etc. After all, we don't know to what extent "Randy" made place to "Randall" in every field, we know he def became "Randall" (evil, angry, bitter, jealous, murderous) towards his colleagues and former classmates, but we don't know for people outside of his career and more specifically related to him, and more specifically children. Yeah he was murderous to Boo, but she was just a tool, an "it", an animal to him, being a human he didn't see her as a real kid which of course is horrible but "understandable" from a monster

What I mean is, supposing he does love Rex and by extension, if you are one of those who give fanchildren to their favs, his own kid(s), chances is his "Randy" side may show up more

I thought of that after reading that comment :

Come to think of it, they are right. A part of his "Randy" side (corny, geeky, nerd who wants to be tough and cool) is definetely showing as he is trying to turn it into something threatening with SICKASS KARATE CHOPS YOOO and "do you hear that ? It's the wind of change" OOOOO BUUUURN which of course earns him unimpression from Mike and Sulley who are just annoyed if not finding it sad at this point. As much as he changed, he is still nerdy at heart and we see it can be displayed even nowadays he became "cooler" thinking it is "cool"

So either this is all that is left from his "Randy" side and it got twisted and mixed up with his "Randall" side for good and he is awful to everyone nephew and potential fanchildren if you ship him with someone included... OOOOR a "purer" (but still not entirely anymore, dude got a bitter life path after all) version of his "Randy" closer to his original self shows up when he cares, being eager, making cupcakes and embarrassing when trying to be hip but really nerdy as an uncle and if you HC so as a dad, just managing to occasionally twist it into a "Randall" mix if he doesn't like you

i forget if i've mentioned this before on here, but when i was about 5 i was obsessed with monsters inc and watched it at least twice a week not because i especially liked it as a movie but simply because i was passionately in love with randall. and in fact the very first fanfiction i ever wrote was a monsters inc whump fanfiction about me finding randall in the swamp after he got beaten up with a shovel and tenderly nursing him back to health. all this to say i have been the person i am from an incredibly young age

also him dragging mike into his shenanigans like he is so silly he just wants to party 😭 (and have his friend tag along) i love his and mike's dynamic here we needed more of this in the movie

they really covered nearly their entire bodies head to toe in red fur like no wonder you missed the damn party 😭
