After you and your friends uncovered a mystery about the high school you all went to, you starting finding more odd occurrences across the county, and well, it's not like anybody else was going to solve them.
You and your friends because a team of detectives. Most your teenage years and early twenties were spent solving odd crimes across the country. You were all best friends.
That was until four years ago when...
Well, you're not sure you can remember anymore.
It doesn't matter right now. Welcome back.

Major Characters
Cameron "Cam" Morris (M/F) [RO]- Tech-savvy and mechanically minded, Cam is currently working as a mechanic after you and your group broke up, they are currently going to grad school for mechanical engineering, and still sends postcards and pictures to you. They are likely the sweetest person you have ever met, even if sometimes they are too kind to people who don't deserve it. Out of the four of you, Cam was always the one who needed to do what was right, no matter the cost, and even if what they thought was right at the time hurt in the long run.
Ollie Cohen-Reyes (NB) [RO]- Ollie has always been interested in macabre and strange, spending hours researching in the library any and every topic they were interested in. They get along with very few people, but once they are able to get close with others it becomes easier, and they become sarcastic and witty, and feel less uncomfortable talking about their interests freely. They work as an adjunct professor in forensic anthropology.
Rose/Rory Thompson(M/F) [RO]- They are a loyal person, first and foremost. When the group broke up they somewhat lost their purpose, but they ended up settling and working as a bartender in Misty Cove. Having taken boxing and self-defense classes from a young age due to their paranoid parents, R was always the best when it came to physical confrontation with the cases you investigated, even if outside of this they never seemed like someone who had that much power. They have become far more aggressive and assertive than the person you knew as a child, now having the attitude to match their technical know-how.
Terra Clarke (F) [RO]- You originally knew her by a different name, but she started transitioning early on life, and Terra is the only name you can remember now. Normally when you say it it's followed by a nasty comment. Terra was never someone you got along with when you lived in Misty Cove. She was antagonistic towards you and your friends, but a lot has changed since the last time you saw her. She now owns her Grandpa's diner, and tries to take good care of the people of the town, especially since the mayor won't do much. She is always exhausted now, but is very happy to see a familiar face, even if your history is muddied because of both of your actions.
Randall 'Randy' Clarke - Terra's grandfather and former owner of "Randy's Diner" always very kind to you and your friends, even if you all never got along with Terra. He has been running his diner since the 60's and has faith that his granddaughter will uphold the legacy.
Ana Lloyd - (An-uh) the mayor of the town of Misty Cove. Trying to "restore the former glory of the town" as if she didn't move here less than 2 years ago, and was the only person who ran when the former mayor died while in office. She has been selling some of the old public spaces to business developers as a way to "expand the town and bring in new people".
Mrs. Ms. Emerson Talbot- Your former English teacher from high school, you never got along with her that well. She, now in her 70's has only gotten more bitter. You just hope she doesn't hold grudges.
Dorothy Giles- Your co-worker, likely the only one in your office who has a soul anymore. A woman who would go to the ends of the earth to protect the people she cares about, even if those people are just 20-somethings that she has taken under her wing.
(Things are subject to change throughout the games development)

Shane as a female Jess
Okay I'm on my s3 rewatch and reminded what a QUEEN Shane is
Tumblr media
And really thinking that, while they aren't remotely the same person in different genders Jess and Shane have so much on common in terms of how they exist in Stars Hollow
Jess is implied to be more sexually experienced and comfortable than Rory/the average Stars Hollow kid. Shane is too
Jess is rude to customers at his customer service job. Shane is too.
Jess misses social cues or deliberately doesn't interact the way he's supposed to to keep the Stars Hollow people happy. Shane does too (Appearing to completely not notice/consider that a customer is waiting while she's on the phone)
Shane and Jess both communicate largely through slightly atonal speech (sarcastic and dry in customer service settings, at times forceful when talking to people close to them)
Jess and Shane are both more comfortable with PDA than Rory/Lorelai/Luke/Stars Hollow wants them to be
Jess and Shane are both confident in their point of view and are quick to challenge the people close to them when confronted about it, even if it's not completely rational (BLOATY IS A WORD I BELIEVE YOU SHANE)
Shane, like Jess, is reliant on a part time job with in the world of Gilmore Girls codes them as POOR, especially when you consider working class hero Rory didn't have a job all through high school.
What's more Stars Hollow reacts to them in extremely similiar ways. While we don't see a town hall meeting called about Shane, she appears to be just as isolated as Jess is, and treated by Stars Hollow's favorite heroes in similar ways:
Called a freak by Lorelai for being excited to see her boyfriend. Quick check: Lorelai is an adult who we are meant to believe is a feminist and advocate for plucky young woman. Shane is a child minding her own business whose only offense was to brush against Lorelai as she walked by. Extremely minor infractions blown up to enormously? Where have we seen this before?
Treated as though she is stupid ("To you how ice is made is probably fascinating") with absolutely no basis
Considered a problem by Luke, a disappointment right off the bat even though he knows almost nothing about her. Sound familiar?
Yelled at by Rory because she didn't instantly meet her Stars Hollow magic expectations of fake kindness and exceedingly generous service. Alternatively, the actual reason for the yelling was because Shane failed to meet her secret expectations of making her romantic dreams come true (Getting out of the way for Shane, on the flipside pining and waiting on Jess's part) . SOUND FAMILIAR?
Even cool girl Lane who so pursues the unusual and off beat goes along with Rory being confrontational with Shane with no prompting, even though she visibly is confused by the treatment. Like Jess, in the world of Stars Hollow Shane is wrong, off, bad and the treatment even in her short time on screen very much is in line.
SHE DESERVES BETTER SHE DESERVES THE WOLRD

Harry x Louis x little!reader- Any interest?
Tumblr media
Summary: Harry and Louis, two married dominants, decide now is the time to add to their family.
Word Count: 3K
CW: mentions of abuse, talks of little space, dom/sub dynamics
AN: I started writing this and it's been sitting in my drafts for over two months. It's a dom/sub AU where everyone received a classification, and some subs (including reader) are classified further as littles.
I would consider this part the prologue since it sets up the backstory of how Harry and Louis meet Y/N. If I continue this, the rest would be in 2nd person and would follow Y/N's journey in healing from her past now that she's in the care of two kind people. It would also include scenes where she's in little space, which is why I'm hesitant to continue, as I'm not sure how that will be received. But I was drawn to writing a story that allows for the reader to be taken care of by Harry and Louis, without actually being a child.
Anyway, would love to see how this does and gauge if people are interested in reading more!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“He is absolutely perfect,” Louis says. He and Harry are visiting Sarah and Mitch to meet their second son, Theo. Louis cradles the two week old in his arms, amazed by how tiny he is, while Harry entertains his older brother, Rory.
“Makes you want one, huh?” Mitch asks. Louis sighs, thinking of the best way to answer this question for the thousandth time.
Because yes, he and Harry would love to be parents. But they just don’t see it in the cards for them. When they first met on the X-factor, Louis had already presented as a Dominant. The circle on his wrist had been filled in with the color red ever since he was thirteen years old. Harry’s had remained just an empty circle, signaling him as a neutral. Everyone presented between ten and fifteen years old. But then a couple weeks after they lost the show, at sixteen years old, Harry woke up with his circle now red. He soon grew into his nature, becoming a kind, yet firm dom.
It caused some tension in his relationship with Louis at first, but they worked it out and discovered how to navigate their new normal.
Mitch and Sarah both being neutrals didn’t quite understand the scrutiny that they face as a couple. Society may be changing, but people are still extremely wary of dom/dom couples, especially when they’re both male.
They’ve explained that to their friends before, saying how hard it would be for them to adopt when everyone is so distrusting of couples like them.
So instead of restating that fact, Louis replies, “With our lifestyle, I just don’t see us being able to care for a baby.” And it’s true. They always seem to be traveling, whether it be for meetings, recording music, promoting new albums or touring. It doesn’t feel like a stable environment for a child.
“What about adopting a sub? Specifically a little?” Sarah says.
This question has Louis' mind spinning. It’s not the first time this has come up, but he hasn’t thought about it for quite a while. He and Harry had discussed this years ago when One Direction first went on hiatus. But then Harry got signed to make a solo album and their lives became all about music once again.
“Think about it,” Sarah continues. “Talk to Harry. Neither of you are releasing music for a while, there’d be plenty of time for you to stay home and help them adjust. You should talk to my sister, she’s a social worker at a local shelter for abused subs. She’s really knowledgeable about all this, she could answer any questions you have.”
“Thanks, yea, I’ll see what Harry thinks,” he replies. Just then, the little one in his arms starts to cry, and Louis promptly hands him back to his mum.
He goes to see where his husband had gone off to, and finds him on the patio, listening intently to the winding, nonsensical story the toddler is telling him, while ensuring the little one doesn’t wander too close to the edge where he could stumble down the curb. Louis is once again struck by how wonderful of a dad Harry would be.
Maybe Sarah is right. Maybe now is the time for them to find someone to care for, someone who needs a home and a family.
He doesn’t bring it up to Harry that day. But the thought is constantly on his mind.
It’s a couple of weeks later, and they’re back at Mitch and Sarah’s house, along with Sarah’s sister Emily. Weeks of sleepless nights have caught up with the parents, and the other three are there to give them a much needed break.
Harry is once again outside with Rory, while Louis is in the living room feeding the baby a bottle. Emily is on the floor, surrounded by baskets of laundry that she’s folding.
They work silently for a while, Louis lost in his thoughts about his last conversation with Sarah. But when Theo falls asleep in his arms, cooing quietly, Louis can’t keep his questions to himself.
“Can I ask you something,” he says to Emily.
“Of course,” she replies.
“Sarah says you work at a shelter for abused subs.”
Emily nods in confirmation and waits for Louis to continue.
“And there are littles there?”
“Yea, more than there should be.”
“What do you mean?” He asks.
“Well littles make up such a tiny percentage of our population. And they’re only a small percentage of subs. And yet about twenty percent of the subs living there are littles,” she explains.
“Why is that?”
“Aside from young children, they’re the most vulnerable members of our society. When they’re in little space they’re dependent on those around them. Even out of headspace they’re very easily controlled. And many of them don’t even understand what abuse is.”
“I didn’t realize it was that bad,” Louis says as he wonders how someone can harm someone so innocent.
“How often are they in little space?” He asks. “The ones at the shelter?”
“It really depends on the individual. Some are little almost all of the time. Some go in and out. A couple barely slip at all.”
“But if they’re little doesnt going into headspace help them? Why would they stay up? Wouldn’t going into headspace be comforting for them?”
“You have to understand, a lot of them suffered abuse and neglect while under. They’d wake up and find that they’d been assaulted while unable to do anything about it, or that they’d been left alone the whole time without help. People would tell them they’re too much work, too needy.”
“God, how can people be so awful?”
“I ask that all the time. There’s one girl, in her early twenties. Youngest of seven kids, the only sub and little. Her siblings were all doms. And her parents just turned a blind eye and let them do whatever they wanted to her. Encouraged it even, said it was practice. Even let other people use her, for a fee of course. Luckily a couple months ago the right person found out about it and called the cops. She’s been in the shelter ever since.”
“The poor thing,” Louis says, trying to block out the awful images her story is making in his head.
“Yea, I think she’s only been in headspace once or twice since she’s been at the shelter. She always wants to be aware of what’s going on around her. Despite everything she’s still such a sweet girl.”
Before Louis can ask another question the back door opens, and Rory comes running in, Harry trailing behind him. Sensing that he’d interrupted a conversation he asks, “Whatcha guys talking about?”
“Emily was telling me about her work at the shelter for submissives,” Louis replies, not wanting to say more in front of the curious three year old.
They spend the rest of the day there, Harry cooking dinner for everyone. By the time they leave, Mitch and Sarah are looking refreshed and Louis can’t help the warm smile on his face when he sees them with their kids, a perfect, happy family.
He drives home, Harry watching him from the passenger seat. They’ve been together long enough for Harry to know something is stirring in Louis' head, but he’s not sure what it might be.
“That was fun today,” he says in order to start the conversation.
“Yea, it’s always nice to hang with them and help out,” Louis replies.
“I had fun playing football with Rory. I mean, he’s better than me but who isn’t?” He says with a laugh. Louis chuckles lightly and Harry continues, “How was it hanging with Emily? You guys talked about the shelter for abused subs right?”
Louis takes a deep breath before saying, “Yea. It was a lot. I didn’t realize how bad it could be. Especially for littles.” He’s quiet for a moment before adding, “Did you know how many littles end up in shelters? And some of them are too scared to go into their little space because of all the abuse and neglect. It’s just awful, Harry.”
Without a doubt this is what’s bothering Louis, and Harry takes a moment to collect his thoughts. He’s about to reply when Louis says, “Do you remember when we considered it?”
“Considered what?”
“Adopting a little,” Louis replies.
“Yea,” Harry says. “I remember. We couldn’t because I got signed.”
“It wasn’t the right time then.”
“And you think now would be?” Harry asks.
“I do. If you still want that.”
“I think I would, yea. And you, do you want this too?”
Louis smiles and replies, “I really do. I mean, growing up with all my younger siblings, there’s a part of me that’s always loved taking care of others. And if we can help even one person heal from a terrible situation, then yea, I want to do that.”
“Okay,” Harry says. “Then let’s do this.”
They pull up at their house just as they make this decision. Putting the car in park Louis turns to lean over the center console and give Harry a kiss.
“I love you,” he says and Harry replies with the same.
They wait a couple more days to make sure they’re serious about their decision and then ask Emily if she could meet up with them. She comes to their home for lunch, and though they didn’t say exactly what they wanted to talk about, she had a pretty good idea.
So she isn’t surprised when Harry asks, “how might we go about adopting a little?” as soon as lunch was served.
“Sorry,” he says. “Didn’t mean to blurt that out right away. It’s just, we decided a few days ago that this is what we want to do, and I know that it’s probably going to be quite a process, with us being two male doms and everything so I just want to get started as soon as possible I guess. And I know there’s probably a million things we need to do and learn and-” he cuts off his rambling and mutters one more quiet sorry.
“Don’t be sorry,” Emily says. “It’s refreshing to see someone so eager and excited. You’re right that there is a bit of a process involved and it usually is more difficult for two male doms. But the two of you have a couple advantages, especially the fact that you’ve been married for over a decade. And people only ever have nice things to say about the both of you. You’re two celebrities that haven’t been in any sort of scandal since before the wedding. That’s impressive. Nearly unheard of. Proves you both have good character.”
“So you think it’ll be possible? That we’ll get approved?” Louis asks.
“Oh yes. I don’t want to get your hopes up too much by saying it's definite, but I have a good feeling it will go how you’d like it to.”
Hearing those words calms down the couple, and they listen closely to the process Emily describes.
They enjoy lunch and as Emily leaves she says, “If you come to the shelter Monday we can get the paperwork started.”
“We’ll be there,” Louis replies and Harry says, “Thank you so much, for all of your help.”
“I’m happy to,” Emily says. “I’ve known you guys for a while, it would make me immensely happy to see a sub in your home. I know the two of you will take excellent care of a little in need.”
Her parting words leave them feeling hopeful all weekend, and they enter the shelter Monday afternoon full of nervous excitement. Emily greets them and brings her straight to her office, passing by a day room on their way.
There’s a chorus of “Good Afternoon Miss Emily” as she passes and she replies “Good afternoon everyone. I hope you’re all having a good day so far.”
Harry and Louis glance in the room, seeing a dozen people. They’re all engaged in different activities such as reading and games like scrabble.
“This is one of two day rooms, meant for our older residents. Basically anyone not in headspace can hang out here. There’s another day room upstairs full of games and crafts where we bring anyone who is in a little space and is roughly three or up mentally. The nursery and sleeping spaces are upstairs as well.”
She leads them a little further before entering a room with her name on the door. She motions to the chairs in front of her desk and Harry and Louis sit down.
“Here are the basic forms to get started,” she says, handing each of them a stack of paper and a pen. “Get used to this, everything needs to be documented in extreme detail so there’ll be plenty of these to fill out.”
They all laugh as the two men get to work writing their information. After a couple minutes Emily’s phone rings. After a brief call she says, “Excuse me for a moment,” and steps out.
Then minutes later the door opens, but instead of Emily it’s a young man.
“Hello, I’m Eric Maas, one of the case workers here. Miss Jones is helping one of the residents and it’s requiring a bit more of her time than she expected so she asked me to check in on you,” he says.
After quick introductions they spend some time going over the form, and Eric answers any questions that Harry and Louis have. After another few minutes everything is set and Eric leads them back outside and they head home.
That evening they get a text from Emily that reads, “Sorry about earlier, one of the girls I’ve been working with finally slipped to little space. It’s only her third time doing that with us and it had been weeks since that last time so I had to stay with her”
After reassuring her that they completely understood she sent another message saying she’d submitted their forms and they should hear back soon.
As expected, the process takes a number of weeks. There’s background checks, home visits, and about a million more forms, but finally, they’re approved.
Now it’s time to start the next task of finding the right submissive. Harry and Louis are invited to spend a couple days visiting the shelter and interacting with the residents. At the end of the second day they’re back in Emily’s office.
“So,” she begins. “Is there anyone who you think will be the right fit for you?”
“I’m not sure,” Harry answers. “They’re all such lovely people, but I’m not sure we’ve really clicked with anyone yet.” He looks to Louis who is nodding in agreement.
“Did you guys meet Rachel or Y/N?” Emily asks.
“I don’t think so, no,” Louis replies.
“I really think you’d get along well with both of them. Is it alright if I have them come here to introduce you?”
“Yes, that’d be fine with us,” Harry says.
Emily steps out and comes back a few minutes later, a woman in her late twenties following behind. “This is Rachel,” she says.
“Hello sirs,” says Rachel with a smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Likewise,” says Louis before he and Harry introduce themselves to her. They spend a few minutes talking, observing her demeanor and learning a bit about her. After a little while Emily leads Rachel out to lead her back to the dayroom.
“She seems nice,” Louis says.
“I agree. I could see her as part of our family.”
They don’t have time to discuss more, as Emily is now back with another girl. She’s younger, probably early twenties, and definitely more shy. She keeps her head bowed, not making eye contact with any of the doms in the room.
“Y/N, can you say hello to these gentlemen?” Emily says.
She looks up, and Harry and Louis offer her an encouraging smile.
“Hello sirs,” she says in a timid voice. Her hands are clasped behind her back, another physical sign of submission, but they can tell she’s picking at her nails nervously.
“I’m Louis, and this is my husband Harry. Would you like to take a seat?”
Her eyes dart between the three others, as though unsure what she should do. Emily finally says, “Y/N, take a seat on the couch.” It’s said gently, but firmly, a clear command, and Y/N quickly does as she’s told.
She sits on one end, glancing over at the two men and seeing their kind smiles. Harry and Louis ask her some basic questions, and after a few minutes she leaves the room.
“She’s quite shy,” Louis remarks once she’s left.
“Do you remember the girl I mentioned that day at Sarah’s? With all the dom siblings?” Emily asks.
It clicks together in Louis' brain and he says, “That’s her?”
“It is,” she replies.
“I’m sorry, what is her story?” Harry asks. Emily tells the story again, and by the end, Harry’s eyes are swimming with tears.
“Why don’t you boys take some time to think it over?” Emily suggests.
Harry shakes his head and says, “Lou, I want to help her. I want to give Y/N a safe home. I really think we can do it, we can show her what it’s like to be loved.”
Louis looks at the determination in his husband's eyes and takes a deep breath. “I think we can, too. It won’t be easy, not with everything she’s been through, but I believe we will do everything we can to help her heal.”
“So, Y/N is the one?” Emily asks.
“She is,” Harry replies, Louis nodding beside him.

___________________________💀
OCTOBER SUN pt.20
Xavier stood in front of the closed door, wary, unsure if he was allowed to open it. He knew what was behind it, knew you were in there because you hadn't been in your room when he'd gone to check on you after he'd heard the pipes shudder and the water stop.
He'd spent the last thirty minutes with Abigail—your grandmother—in the kitchen, their conversation skirting around the topic of your panic attack as if admitting what had caused it would conjure another episode. Abigail had fed him cookies and chocolate milk like he was still the little boy she'd been introduced to years ago, all scraped knees and peach-fuzz hair, adult teeth too big for his smile.
A massive tupperware of spaghetti and meatballs waited for him on the bench in the foyer where he'd kicked off his shoes and hung his jacket upon entering the house. Abigail always fretted over him. Hugged him and held him like her own. Xavier adored her. Adored your whole family, really; profoundly grateful to be accepted as part of it. Especially after his own had dissolved into something he couldn't hold together no matter how much he'd tried.
Still, being accepted into your family didn't mean Xavier had access to every corner and cranny. Some things were off-limits, private, For Our Eyes Only, and the room he lingered outside of was one of them. But, fuck it, he'd already missed his Bio test; had skipped last period to get you home safe, and he needed to make sure you were okay before he left.
With a grounding breath, Xavier summoned the courage and opened the door.
The room was daytime-dark, curtains drawn, the stars tacked on the ceiling glowing an eerie, phosphorous green. He could easily make out the child-height furniture. The shelves of picture books and action figures. Spiderman sheets, sleeves of Pokémon cards, and a stack of VHS tapes Aurora had insisted on playing whenever she'd been forced to babysit—"This sucks, Rory, we want Netflix!"—"Shut up. This is so much better!"
The air smelt stale, stuffy, and there was a thick film of dust on every surface but the bed. A shrine untouched in the years between Then and Now.
Xavier's eyes fell to where you sat on the floor, knees up, head tipped back to rest on the low, single bed. He wanted to turn around. Leave. Being there felt intrusive. But, you didn't yell at him. Didn't tell him to fuck off. Didn't throw something at his head. You barely acknowledged him apart from patting the ground beside you in behest.
He dropped down easily; accepted your weight when you slumped into his side, head on his shoulder, damp hair soaking a wet patch into the collar of his shirt. He rested his elbows on his knees, hand clasped around opposite wrist, and pressed his cheek into the top of your head. Glancing down the length of you, he noticed the stuffed lion in your arms. A long, gangly thing with a round face and button eyes, features sewn in black thread on a corduroy canvas.
Aidan had toted that thing around like a limb, Xavier remembered.
It hurt everywhere to think of the little boy who'd inserted himself into the sleepovers and hangouts you'd had in elementary school. Afternoons and evenings spent shooing him away only to give in within minutes because neither you nor Xavier or Hana had the heart to say no to him.
"Sissy~, I want to play, too!"
A lump formed in Xavier's throat, pressure behind his eyes that he ignored to ask, "Are you okay?" He kept his voice just above a whisper, the way people spoke in church. Afraid to disturb the spectral peace that pervaded the room.
After several beats, you finally admitted, "I don't think so," and held the lion tighter.
Xavier didn't know how to respond, the agreement you'd both made six years ago—no questions asked—weighing his conscience down. He wanted to respect the promise. Had always respected it just as you had done for him. However, things felt too heavy not to at least broach the subject.
On a shaky exhale, Xavier ventured, "I know we don't talk about it, but...maybe we should."
"Zav..."
"No, listen, you freaked the fuck out back there and it scared the shit out of me. I haven't seen you that bad in years." He nudged you off his shoulder with a minute shrug, shifting to prop his head against the bed. You studied him, thick lashes starred from your shower, and eyes glassy. The misery miring your expression was visible enough through the dark that Xavier felt guilty for saying anything. He said anyway, "Please don't shut me out."
His mother had very little interest in him; his dad treated him like an unbroken animal. And Maddie...he'd fucked that up so much that, even if she came back, he wouldn't be able to look her in the eye. And yes, yeah, he'd done it to himself, okay? He knew that. He'd always made sure not to let himself get too comfortable. Kept people at arm's length because, if he didn't, it would hurt so much worse when they eventually left.
But you were different. You'd been there since he'd pushed Harrison Levi out of the sandbox in kindergarten and split the kid's eyebrow open. The only one in the class who hadn't been afraid of Xavier after that, and had shared your crayons and glue during crafts period.
Xavier needed you like a lifeline, the one person in the whole damn world who saw him for who he was and hadn't left him in the past. You'd stayed through the angst of his parents' separation; through a childhood filled with inappropriate humor and distasteful comments. Through above-average forgetfulness and outbursts he couldn't control.
He felt the warmth of your breath on his cheeks, smelt peppermint toothpaste and vanilla shampoo; faces close, sides pressed together in a soft line. An intimate bubble of privacy and safety.
"I saw Ms. Chung in the hallway before class." You said at last, as if that explained everything, and okay, sure, Xavier could work with that.
Kind of. "Who?"
"The grief counselor that Principal Hartman brought in on Monday." You elaborated. "She, uhm...She was the counselor I saw after..."
Xavier understood what you couldn't say. Nodded and smiled gratefully at you for having shared that much. He filled in some blanks himself, "And, I guess, this whole thing with Maddie is hitting pretty close to home, huh?"
You snorted, "Yeah, it definitely has the whole 'someone you think you can trust ends up betraying you' thing going for it."
Xavier's blood ran cold.
It would occur to him later that he didn't fully understand how your comment related to your trauma. It was the one police file his dad had ensured Xavier couldn't get his hands on and snoop through.
For now, he was blindsided by fear. Because who the fuck else had Maddie been meant to trust and was instead betrayed by? Sandra, perhaps, but you didn't know that. Did you? Had you also been to see her? No, that would be weird as hell. You and Maddie were friends-by-extension. Xavier didn't think you even knew where Maddie lived. Thus, as far as Xavier knew, he was the only one who fit the profile, which meant that, oh God no, you knew about Claire and this was the moment you banished Xavier from your life forever. He wasn't ready. He wasn't ready to be entirely alone, not yet, please, not yet—
"What does that mean?" He fished, tone even, though inwardly he was losing his shit.
Your focus went distant as you seemed to think carefully about what you wanted to say. With his heart in his throat, Xavier listened as you told him, "Simon and I think Mr. Anderson had something to do with Maddie's disappearance."
And he almost cried in relief. Until a certain part of your statement sunk in.
"You and Simon?"
You leaned back, looking at Xavier like you were mentally fitting him for a dunce cap. "Really? That's what you're concerned about? Zav, you went on an adventure with his only other best friend yesterday. He didn't have anyone else to talk to, so yeah, I'm happy to help him follow whatever leads he finds."
"At least Nicole doesn't hate me." Xavier hissed, "Simon dead-ass accused me of hurting Maddie in front of everyone."
"Okay, a) I made sure to get it through his skull that you're innocent. And, b) Simon doesn't hate you." You stopped, appearing somewhat hesitant to continue before you went on in sympathy, "He's just obviously in love with Maddie and you're the guy she chose instead."
As if Xavier hadn't been painfully aware of Simon's big, fat crush on Maddie since the fledgling days of their relationship. Simon had been a looming presence; had viscerally attempted to hold back glaring daggers at Xavier across the lunch table or over your and Mathilda's heads at shows, or movies, or tailgates.
"We're all trying to figure out where Maddie is." You said, bringing the situation to order. "And it seems like we've all been doing a better job than the cops because you and Nicole found boot prints and a ticket, and Simon found a stash of cash in Mr. Anderson's classroom. Plus, after talking about it last night—"
"You saw Simon last night?"
You talked over Xavier, the volume of your voice rising marginally, "—he and I think he's hiding something in the theater, too."
Xavier hung his head, cracked his neck, and rolled his shoulders, trying to calm the wave of conflicting emotion cresting inside him. You were his best friend. Yet, you'd buddied off with Simon Creepy Possessive Elroy to—
"Wait. Anderson has money in his classroom?"
You rolled your eyes, sporting a sardonic smile, "Yes, Officer Baxter, welcome back to the point. You done being weird?"
"I'm sorry, okay?" Xavier apologized sincerely, ducking to catch your eye. He swiveled to rest his side against the bed and face you more easily. "That was a lot of information to digest. I didn't mean to get weird about you and Simon being close all of a sudden."
You playfully shoved a hand into Xavier's face, "Aw, Zav, don't worry, I'm still all yours," and winked before dissolving into a merry cackle.
Xavier reached across the narrow space between you both and slung an arm around your neck, dragging you close to ruffle your hair. It didn't have the same effect as when your hair was dry, tangling and teasing it into an 80s starburst, but it was close enough. You squealed and giggled, laid Aidan's lion on the bed, and then wrestled Xavier off you. In retaliation, he banded his arms around your torso and pulled you into his chest, fingers dancing along your sides.
It was fun, silly, something neither of you had been in what Xavier felt had been forever. Your laughter brightened the room, pushed the melancholy shadows into the corners, and made way for a cheerful lightness that hadn't existed in the space for too long.
"You're an ass." You wheezed, squirming out of Xavier's grasp and settling back against the bed, one leg held close and chin propped on your knee.
"Yeah, but you love me," Xavier teased.
He was loathe to ruin the moment—you beaming at him with dimpled cheeks and crinkled eyes—but his phone started to buzz in his front pocket. He dug it out, saw who was calling and glanced at you for confirmation that he should answer.
At your nod, he accepted the call, "Hey Tilda, sorry for not calling before, but—"
"SIMON, DON'T SAY A FUCKING WORD UNTIL MY MOM GETS THERE!" Mathilda shrieked on the other end of the line and then, into the phone, "What the fuck, Xavier, I tried calling you three times already!"
She had? Xavier hadn't felt his phone vibrate before then...Of course, when he was hyper-focused on something, everything else fell away, muffled by the void until he poked his head out of whatever rabbit hole he'd tumbled down. And, when it came to taking care of you, nothing else penetrated until he'd exhausted himself putting a smile back on your face.
Something he'd just succeeding in doing, damn it.
You pounced forward, grabbing Xavier's phone out of his hand and putting the call on speaker, "What's going on?"
"The cops just dragged Simon out of the school." Mathilda relayed, harried, clearly on the move. "I called my mom, but she won't be in town for another hour!" You and Xavier shared a look before Mathilda pulled attention back to what was unfolding on her end, "They're putting him in the back seat! That's bad, right!? XAVIER!? Is that bad!? What the heLL IS GOING ON!?"
"It's fine, Tilda," Xavier reassured firmly, eyes fixed on yours. "Unless he's in handcuffs, they aren't arresting him. They probably just want his statement on the record."
"His statement for what?" Mathilda sounded ready to go to battle, "They already asked us about Friday!"
Oh shit, you mouthed, the money.
Xavier muted the call to ask you, "Would Simon call the cops on Anderson?"
"I mean, he stole the man's phone. If he found something, he definitely wouldn't wait."
"Simon stole his phone?" Xavier almost clutched his proverbial pearls like a maiden aunt. The unhinged act of devotion to Maddie made him reconsider what it meant to care.
Simon was on the warpath, no fucks left to give, ready and willing to throw himself on the sword if necessary. Was that the kind of love Xavier had been meant to summon for Maddie? He had a lot of big feelings for her, most of them overshadowed by guilt now that she'd taken off without a backward glance, but none of them had inspired him to burn the world down in pursuit of her. There were—maybe—only two people he'd ever felt that kind of feral protectiveness over, and one of them was dead. The other...
He glanced up at you carefully, saw the distress in your eyes as you worried over Simon. "If they're taking him in," Xavier said, putting a hand on your knee for comfort, "they didn't find the money in Anderson's class."
"Then Anderson moved it." You choked. "Simon wasn't lying, Zav. If you'd seen how Mr. Anderson was acting last night, you'd know it was true, too."
"Hello!? Are you still there? Xavier!"
Xavier unmuted the call, both you and he chiming, "Yep, here!"
"Can't you call your dad?" Mathilda demanded and Xavier could picture her perfectly with her hand on her hip, brows furrowed, eyes ablaze, about to scold him like a mother hen. "He's the Sheriff! He could make them let Simon go!"
"Not necessarily, Tils. What if Simon knows something we don't?"
"Like what? He was at the APEX with us last week when Maddie took off. I saw him with my own eyeballs, Bax, he didn't know anything." Mathilda argued.
"Guess she's not pissed at him anymore," You commented quietly, more to a general audience than Xavier specifically.
"Alright, how's this. I'll go see what I can get out of my dad. You've already called your mom, she's on her way," He stated in a measured cadence, "There's nothing else we can do."
Begrudgingly, Mathilda agreed, closing the call with a semi-threatening, "Call me immediately, babes! I want to know why you weren't in Bio," directed to you, and then, "Love you both~!"
"I wasn't in Bio, either," Xavier grumbled, pouting at the white call-ended screen, "I don't count?"
You didn't indulge him, instead asking, "What should I do?"
"What should you do about what?"
"Tilly called her mom, you're going to sniff around your dad's office. What should I do? I can head back to the school and see if there's anything in the theater."
Immediately Xavier was on edge. The idea of you going back to the school and getting caught—possibly by Mr. Anderson who was, if as guilty as you inferred, absolutely going to be on alert now that the police had been called—didn't sit well with him. Not after what had happened to you earlier.
"No." He said, authoritative, stiff, "That's...no."
"I have to do something. What if Mr. Anderson hurt Maddie, huh? What if that money ties him to her somehow? And now he's going to get away with it because the police are focused on Simon."
Xavier grabbed you by the back of the head, angled your face so you had to look at him when he told you in no uncertain terms, "You're not going back there, kiddo. Not without me, okay? You've been through enough today, you need to rest."
"But—"
"How about this," He reasoned and dropped his hand to your shoulder, "We go in tomorrow morning before class and take a look around. Together."
You deflated, "And what about Simon?"
"There's literally nothing we can do about that right now, okay?"
An unhappy silence followed as you chewed over the alternatives Xavier offered. He was gearing up to sling you over his shoulder, carry you back to your bedroom, and lock you in your closet until he came to get you in the morning. Completely dismissing that you had a whole family who would hear you trying to escape and then very likely sneak you into the school themselves just for shits and giggles.
Color him surprised when you actually seemed to acquiesce.
"Fine." You said, audibly pissed that you were being benched, but, hey, Xavier was being sensible for once, the least you could do was humor him for one night. "But you'd better be here at dawn, Xavier."
Xavier traced an X over his heart, "I promise."
‗‗‗‗•‗‗‗‗
Of course, Xavier really should've had you promise to do as he'd said because, as soon as the coast was clear, you snuck out of the house, donning a pair of sleep shorts and your Uncle Andrew's hoodie.

Actually you know what I need to rant about this: while literati is technically a good girl x bad boy dynamic it is written so incredibly well and avoids so many pitfalls and stereotypes that it makes a good girl x bad boy hater like myself (I’m only half joking — I don’t think any trope is inherently good or bad but I tend to dislike most pairings with this dynamic) fall head over heels for their story and relationship.
So much of what makes the two of them work is the contrast between how others perceive them and how they truly are. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who understand who Rory is as a person (Lorelai, Lane, Paris, Richard and Emily to a certain degree for starters), but she's constantly met with the expectation that she just does good and is supposed to make everyone proud 24/7. Stars Hollow as a group especially are big on this, as seen f. ex. through how Taylor takes Rory's one comment about an inappropriate DVD and twists the whole thing into a censorship crusade and makes Rory its poster-child even though she wants nothing to do with it and tells him so repeatedly. But instead of hearing Rory disagree with him (like he would Lorelai and Luke) he assumes that she actually agrees with him - and why shouldn't she when she's the perfect sunshine paragon of good who would never disagree with her elders? Also her grandparents treat her as incredibly fragile and childlike, like she must be too innocent to ever do anything wrong and so whenever she does something it has to be somebody else's fault (usually Lorelai, but occasionally Jess or whoever else was present). Time and time again Rory is treated like something innocent and naive and weak — but not by Jess. He sees her as a person.
And it obviously goes the other way too. Jess is treated like shit by pretty much everyone else. Either people hate him unprovoked or very much provoked (he did do a lot of pranks in his first few weeks and while I'm a Dean-hater I'm not blind to how much Jess picked fights with him), or they’ve simply given up on him. He tells Rory himself that every authority figure he had back in New York gave up on him too, from teachers to principals to his very own mother. But Rory doesn’t treat him like a lost cause, she treats him like the smart, brilliant and asshole-ish teen that he is. By having faith in him she also often holds him more accountable than others. Where f. ex. Lorelai or the other adults just roll their eyes, Rory physically drags Jess into doing his shifts at the diner. While others write him off, Rory chews Jess’ ear out for not helping Luke more and for willfully making enemies out of the Stars Hollow adults.
They don't put each other on pedestals or below each other. Jess doesn’t try to make a sinner out of Rory and she doesn’t try to make a saint out of him. There’s genuine respect between them. They expect each other to have integrity and treat others with kindness and honesty, and the rest is good old chemistry and common interests.
I particularly love how in so many of their scenes (especially pre-relationship) when they spend time alone they just get to be these goofy nerdy kids. They argue about controversial authors and dig through records shops and eat hot dogs and make fun of each other and try to make each other laugh. It’s not just sexual chemistry as it too often is in a dynamic like this (and often uncomfortably sexual when writing teenagers - looking at you Gossip Girl), and not just well written intellectual chemistry — they have platonic chemistry too. A hell of a lot of it actually.
While I don’t think ASP wrote them through a purely deconstructionist lens on the good girl x bad boy dynamic (if she did plan on writing the dynamic at all), there is something to be said about how where many around them treat them like stereotypes they treat each other like people. To so many people, Rory is a perfect small town princess, a little miss sunshine with booksmarts for days but too delicate and sweet for anything with grit and weight. To a lot of the same people and many more Jess is a pathetic brutish and maniacal lost cause, hell personified in a chainsmoking leather-wearing teenager. But to each other they are actual human beings. Kind and mean and flirtatious and scared and reckless and smart. Rory really thinks that with the right motivation and mindset Jess can be the kind who does (and at the end wrote) incredible things. Jess really believes that with a little more practice and support to step out of her comfort zone she can be the amazing journalist she wishes to be.
They don’t have this stupid «we’re so bad for each other but we can’t stay away» thing that too many trope users rely on and don’t even justify in the plot. Everyone else might think they’re not fit for each other, but they knew they were each other’s person from the very first day.

*LONG POST WARNING*
What your favourite New Who Companion says about you (absolutely no offence meant towards anyone, this is just for fun):
Rose: Either the most vanilla person alive, or an RTD era purist. Has spent years fighting for the honor of the RTD era. Ships Ten and Rose to the degree that they shudder at the thought of the Doctor having a relationship with someone else. Is constantly at war with Amy stans. Part of the reason for the RTD enjoyer vs Moffat fan civil war. Usually nice in real life, and quite nostalgic for the Tennant era, so usually OK to be friends with. Unless they say Mickey was treated fairly, at which point, you should run.
Mickey: One of the most kind-hearted, empathetic people, who saw how Mickey was mistreated by Rose in S2 and immediately just wanted to check if he was OK. Is able to hold decent relations with Rose stans due to Mickey's character development after the relationship, and has a surprisingly strong alliance with Rory fans. Was gutted when they heard about Noel Clarke's horrible behaviour and actions.
Adam: Let's be real, we all forgot this guy existed and for good reason.
Captain Jack: Every night, they lie in bed, haunted by the ghost of Torchwood. Loved seeing Jack again in S12, but felt disappointed after his lack of presence in Revolution of the Daleks. Has modelled several aspects of their personality on the Captain, and has the dating life (or lack thereof) to prove it. Cried at the deaths of Ianto and John Barrowman's career.
Martha: Basically Rose fans, except with slightly more indie music taste. Either that, or a person who knows how integral Martha is to 10's character arc. Has attempted to defend the "Space Jesus" scene a couple of times, and cried with happiness when Harbo Wholmes said that it worked in his review. Has a bit of a patchy relationship with Rose stans due to the Doctor's rebound arc, gets along better with Donna stans due to the fact that S4 acknowledged that 10 mistreated Martha. Generally has good taste and is nice to be around, just don't mention how undeveloped her relationship with Tom was.
Donna: Either a child of the late 90s/early 2000s who had the joy of watching New Who at it's peak in 2008, a person who really appreciates great character writing and an excellent series, or someone who just wanted a break from the companion having a romantic subplot. Often gets into heated arguments with Amy stans by (correctly) saying that Series 4 was better than Series 5. Uses Donna's funny dialogue and quips to hide the fact they are still recovering from one of the cruellest companion exits in the show. Generally nice, but very defensive of The Doctor's Daughter.
Wilf: I love these guys. Knows that a) Wilf is the single best character in the entirety of New Who and b) he counts as a companion. Has the best possible taste, and is an absolute joy to be around as a result of it. An emotional wreck after every single rewatch of The End of Time, especially now that the legendary Bernard Cribbins has left us. Has excellent relations with Donna stans, and was similarly overjoyed when they heard about the 60th. Refuses to admit that The End of Time would have possibly worked better as a 90 minute special.
Amy: Definitely has followed the eons-old teaching of "gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss" at some point. Refuses to admit A Good Man Goes to War was mid and that Amy really badly mistreated our sweet prince Rory in a large chunk of S5. Is really happy that Karen Gillan made it big in Hollywood. Friendly unless you say you prefer Rose to Amy. Could not be comforted after that cameo in Time of the Doctor.
Rory: Their favourite episode is usually The Girl Who Waited. Loyal, friendly, introverted and lovable, they of course identify with Rory's slightly long-suffering but accepting and funny character. Understandably annoyed at how Amy mistreated Rory in S5, but happy that S6 & 7A fixed that marriage. Thanks to Rory waiting for 2000 years, their bar for any personal relationship has been set insanely high. Celebrated when the BBC actually allowed Arthur Darvill to style his hair in S7A. Had to check Rory was definitely dead at the end of Angels Take Manhattan due to Moffat killing him whenever more tension was needed in a story.
River Song: Divided into two groups. Those who like River Song's more nuanced appearances in Silence in the Library, A Good Man Goes to War and The Husbands of River Song are awesome. Those who prefer the episodes that Moffat wrote with one hand, less so. Was overjpyed to see the Moffat Era reappraisal of 2020, only to be slightly disappointed when people said S6 was his weakest series. Wierdly enough, gets along nicely with all other companion stans. Has definitely said "Hello sweetie" to their partner/partners/friends/pets. If they prefer 12 and River to 11 and River, pass them the aux on a long journey (trust me on this one).
Clara: From my personal experience, there is a 60% chance that they are a closeted bisexual. Doesn't get why Clara was so overhated, especially in S9. Is wierdly OK with admitting that Victorian Clara was slightly more interesting to begin with, but knows that the character worked so well in 12's era. If they ship 11 and Clara, keep an eye on them. They haven't fully earned your trust yet.
Bill: Heterosexuality was never an option. Gets along well with Clara stans, as they both know how much the 12th Doctor's era s l a p p e d. Had their emotions mangled during the S10 finale, but fortunately came out intact thanks to that puddle and a happy-ish ending. Loved that Bill called 12 out on his bullshit and asked all the trivial questions we were all thinking. Singlehandedly drove the Moffat Era reappraisal over quarantine. Has the best fashion sense out of all the stans.
Nardole: A terrifying enigma. Looked at all the companions with complex stories, interesting arcs and major development, but instead went with the comic relief. Yes, Nardole is funny and a great support character, but... er... how? They can be nice. They can also be fans of Little Britain, which is a red flag. It's a roll of the dice.
Graham: Bradley Walsh was the highlight of the slightly undervalued S11, and they know it. Definitely has the vibe of being 10+ years older than they actually are in terms of attitude, but in the best way. Has definitely owned a pair of cords in their life. Goes into Doctor Who just looking for a fun hour of entertainment rather than lore. Great to hang out with. They always bring snacks.
Ryan: Tries to ignore the fact that Ryan has the most fucking insulting depiction of dyspraxia in any form of media (sorry, I have dyspraxia, and the way it was treated in S11 & 12 just really rubbed me the wrong way), but is also helpful and really in favour of spreading awareness. We're cool for now.
Yaz: One of the nicest, most well-intentioned people you will ever meet, always defending the underdog, supporting others and just being sweeter than a tea with six sugars, but also a master of illusion. Has read so many fan fictions, seen so much fan art and shipped Thasmin so much that they have tricked themselves into thinking Yaz is a three-dimensional, well-written character whose story was not completely made up on the go by Chibnall. Little more than a defeated husk after Power of the Doctor, being rewarded for all those years of fanfics, shipping and defending the era with a couple of longing stares and some hastily written "will they/won't they" scenes before 13 unceremoniously booted Yaz out of the TARDIS. Thinks Demons of the Punjab is the best 13 episode when it is really The Haunting of Villa Diodati.
Dan: Is more of a fan of John Bishop and his charisma than they are a fan of Dan, or is a terminally online person who thinks quoting "Evil Dan" videos makes them the funniest human alive (it really doesn't).

why i don't like moffat's writing?
with rtd we had rose and martha and donna who were all amazing and by the end of their run (especially rose's and donna's cause martha's ending was satisfactory and somehow wholesome) you were left wanting more and being sad it was already over. amy and clara both outlived their welcome (especially clara even though i very much prefer her to amy).
like idk what moffat was trying to do with the amy/rory situation cause it could have been tied up in 1 series, and as for clara... well let's just say by the end (or beginning or middle if we're being honest) he was forcing her and her regurgitated storylines (stolen from both rose and donna) down our throats like a ripe lemon.
except there was no deep foreshadowing well embedded into the storyline like with donna and rose. no. just a constant reminder of "don't worry, the doctor will figure that out at some point" by the doctor himself which is not how the doctor is supposed to work. the doctor is thick and daft and too caught up in the chaos of his life to notice anything and that's what's so good about it.
and i mean yeah, he did do some mild foreshadowing thing with amy and the silence and all (how good it actually was, it's up to you to decide i guess), but bro i'd forgotten all of it by the time we knew what was going on cause it happened over two series and they had to use a flashback i think so that people would see how clever it was.
also this exchange in forest of the dead between ten and river:
"doesn't work like that"
"it does for the doctor"
"i am the doctor"
"yeah. someday"
brother, what were you trying to pull? what's this five-year-old behaviour? "my doctor is better than your doctor" literally how old are we. what a way to tell us the writing of the future series will suck. like i'm sorry but by this point we don't know river, there is no attachment to that character, we have never seen her in our lives. we don't gaf. by this point she's just an annoying lady telling one of the most epic, well-written, consistent versions of the doctor that he is no match to a future doctor written by a dude who's not like other dudes and whose self-insert is a little too on-the-nose. as well as his misogyny. (i love eleven he was hilarious, i just think he's a victim of bad writing and inconsistency)
every tenth doctor episode written by moffat, the only recognizable thing about ten is david tennant's acting. ten goes and falls for madame de pompadour over what? her boobies? even in classic who which was peak misogyny, the doctor wasn't like that. ten spent less than five minutes with reinette and you're gonna tell me that small minute was enough to make him fall for her? half of which she was a child, moreover? sure.
we can add to that donna's "if i had a face like yours i wouldn't hide it" to miss evangelista in forest of the dead yet again. why? how tf was that necessary??? i don't remember donna ever saying anything positive or negative about her own features apart from that. that was never the point. this isn't fanfiction. or how in that same episode miss evangelista became ugly in order to become clever. there's a real fkin pattern there.
how i miss the time women in doctor who didn't need to assault their men in order to be badass. a time when the doctor would have never forcefully kissed a married lesbian and made a sex joke after she rightfully slapped him. when bisexuality was taken seriously and not as a selling point. when doctor who was still doctor who

One for George and y/n: Easter egg hunting at the Burrow with all the Weasleys (George's siblings and their children)
Such a cute idea! 🖤
Warnings: Minor swearing, mentions of pregnancy, cute Weasley fun and fluff.
Words: 1.3k
Tumblr media
Easter Bunny's gift.
Easter at the Burrow was always one of the things you looked forward to the most, especially now you had children of your own with George.
Ever since the first grandchild had arrived, Molly and Arthur had started a wonderful tradition of a magical Easter egg hunt on the land surrounding the house.
Your daughters were 5 and 3, both now at the age that they took the egg hunt very seriously, especially as they were essentially competing against their cousins. George had given them tips before hand, because of course he had, and you'd arrived at the Burrow with two very excited children. And a very excited husband, who had been to set up the race with Arthur earlier that morning, no doubt putting his own mischievous twist on the egg hunt.
The wonderful thing about Molly and Arthur having seven children was that as you all grew up, the number of family members inevitably doubled and then tripled, at least. Siblings, spouses, children, cousins; everyone packed in to the space you'd always loved, the heart of the family- the Burrow.
You were immediately greeted by most of the Weasley siblings and their partners, the kids all chasing each other and giggling in glee with squeals of delight echoing through the open fields. Bill and Fleur, Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny, all of them stood around tables of food and drink that you knew Molly would have agonised over all morning. You couldn't see Percy or Audrey but you could see little Molly and Lucy running around with Victoire, Rose and Lily and so assumed that they were around somewhere. It was always funny to see the entire family gathered together, the sea of Red hair only broken up by a few blonde and brunette children running around.
"Rory! Poppy!" Dominique squeals in excitement, spotting your daughters and immediately falling into an excited conversation that was almost too high for adults to hear, their excited squeals and giggles so loud it almost made you wince. She pauses briefly to flash you a smile, missing her two front teeth. "Hi aunt y/n, hi unky George! Come on, Granny's got toffee!"
Now child free, George smiles at you as he takes your hand and leads you down the path towards the Burrow, greeting his family with warmth. You mingle through the crowd until you make your way inside, offering Molly some help in the kitchen.
"Oh y/n dear, you just get prettier!" She says with a wide and motherly smile, approaching you with hands outstretched as she pulls you in for a tight hug. She's all dressed up in her most vibrant colours, a glittery beret clip in her hair with the signature apron tied around her waist.
"Right, almost time!" Molly says with delight as she steps outside, giving Arthur a little nod who claps his hands together and smiles, walking off towards the back lawn.
You shoot George a little smile as you look over at your daughters, huddled together with the other cousins almost bouncing with excitement. Molly had made a ridiculous number of little eggs for the children, some with chocolate, marshmallow, toffee, everything that would keep your girls up way past their bedtime if they ate too much.
"Right Weasleys," Arthur says, taking lead of the gaggle of excitable children. "Two rules only. Number 1, share and be mindful of your cousins, we want everyone to have fun. Number 2, grab as much as you can! Ready... set.... Go!"
Just as Arthur said the words, a little firework shot up into the sky which transformed into the shape of a bunny in the sky, the words 'this way' scrawled out next to it as it moved towards the start line that Arthur had made. Your mouth opened in disbelief and turned towards your husband who was putting his wand back in his pocket with a mischievous grin. He turned to you and gave you a little wink, little butterflies erupting in your tummy at the look even after all these years.
With a resounding squeal of excitement, the children ran off, following the rabbit, each of them clutching their little baskets ready to swoop on the eggs that had been meticulously placed by their grandad. You watched and laughed as they giggled, all of them picking up little eggs and slinging them into their baskets.
Some were suspended in the air by magic, others tucked into trees and the ground as normal. George had jinxed the tree near the border to rain eggs when the kids ran under it. You laughed as you watched Hugo and Albus scream in sheer delight when they stepped under the tree and hundreds of little eggs rained down on them, dropping into their baskets. They immediately called the girls over to look at what had just happened, all fo the adults watching beginning to laugh when the girls also squealed out in delight as the eggs rained down on them.
"Y/n, can you please watch Louis whilst I go to the loo?" Fleur said from beside you, her French accept as strong at ever, holding out baby Louis, his little blanket covered body making him look like a beautiful little bundle.
"Of course I can," you say with a smile, readily accepting your youngest nephew into your arms, he was crying a little, whimpering and trying to break free from the blanket. Fleur thanked you profusely as she handed over her youngest before walking quickly back to the house.
"Ssssh, it's okay sweetheart, your mummy will be back soon," you coo, assuring little Louis as you rocked him in your arms. He was beautiful, a little patch of striking blonde hair beginning to grow on his head. You adjusted his blankets just slightly to keep his fingers in and swayed with him in your arms as you watched your daughters giggling from higher up the field. The enchanted bunny firework had started dancing around the kids, dodging them and attempting to steal their eggs making them all giggle.
When you looked down at Louis, he was asleep, his eyes closed and looking the definition of comfy, all snuggled in his warm and soft blanket.
"I'll never get over how much that suits you," you hear your husband say, appearing behind you, looking down at the baby in your arms.
"Oh yeah?" You smile, looking up at him as his arm slips onto your shoulder, his lips descending upon your hair to press a gentle kiss just above your ear.
"I think it's your best look," he pauses, "though I do like you pregnant too."
"Well... I'd say you're in luck Mr Weasley," you say with a glint in your eye, watching as his eyes light up even more than the kids collecting their chocolate once he realises what you were telling him.
"What do you think? I think a little boy would be a nice addition," you say, looking down at the sleeping little boy in your arms, imagining one of your own.
"I'll have a word with the Easter bunny," George says with a smirk, leaning down to capture your lips in a sweet kiss, both of you sharing a little moment.
"No way Hermione," you hear from the side, Ron's dead set voice drawing your attention away from George.
"Oh come on Ron!" Hermione says, getting frustrated with him. "For Hugo and Rose."
"You're not transfiguring me into a bloody rabbit!"

Thg headcanons:
(Tw for complex mental health talks)
katniss loves peppermint and chocolate together. I’m getting this by her always snaking on peppermint leaves when she is at the woods and her living hot chocolate. therefore, the combination of mint and chocolate would seem very in her favourite
Effie has albinism. She constantly changes out her wigs and hair dies her hair. She is described as outlandish hair, and with all the different fanarts, her skin is very pale skin , eyes are pale as well and eyebrows are always does. Often called outlandish- I image her being something that is very different and noticeable amongst the reason, in the best possible way
Gales family is all freakishly tall. Hazelle is likely to be average height for a women, but his father is the cause of all their heights, where I image he is like 6’5. Rory would be smth like 6’0, Vick would be the tallest at 6’4 (cuz he is the most like Gale) n posy would be a very comfortable being 5’8ish (cuz she is a lot like her mummy). I also think Gale looks a lot like Hazelle, but has strong features like his father. He was a mommas boy when a little kid. But rlly deeply loved his father, especially as he allowed Gale to free and express himself
Finnick has high-functioning anxiety and Annie has complexPTSD. finnick, when alone, can almost be unfuntional and fearful of himself. Concerned for other ppls safety and the effects of president snow. Annie has certain triggers from the hunger games. She is mostly functional and stable for the greater parts, however, involvement in and surrounding the games is painful for her. She desperate avoids the reapings and similar events. However, she will try is she can. Like using psychotherapy to calm equally anxious tributes n alleviate themselves (like she would w finnick).
Johanna is a raging bisexual- w a preference for girls. She initially became friends first w Annie, cuz she is a lot like her little brother. And then came close w Finnick too. Them two form the ‘ the protect Annalise (Annie) Cresta club’ and all hang out together when they would.
I have 2 theories about finnicks upbringing:
1. Finnick has a single father n was an only child too. Seeing from his victory of the games, it comes across less as a career act more as a a child who works w spear fishing. His father must of been a spear fisherman and/or catcher. This also was how he died too. Finnicks father would have disappeared/ died at the sea from a fishing accident n Snow saying it was circumstantial but all know it wasn’t.
2. Finnick was an orphan. He lost his family (parents and older sister) in a fishing accident young, like 9 and ended up in the orphanage. He learn to become charismatic to increase his chances of adoption, I think. I think this is also how he became close w Mags. She didn’t have any children, but would often visit orphanage n would treat them like her own children. Finnick caught her eye n they began to get increasingly closer. This family relationship only deepened when she ‘adopted’ his after his victory, calling him her ‘beautiful boy’ and ‘darling child’. My reason? They said in cf (don’t quote me though) that finnicks only ‘family is mags n Annie’
Peeta loves French toast. Cuz his family would have to eat stale bread, French toast would be a ✨ fancier way ✨ of reviving/ prolonging older breads loaves. He wouldn’t have this often to eat I imagine, but he would get if it was a bday treat n/or special treat for smth (like not being reaped or that). As an adult, he has it more often n katniss makes it for him every saturday to give him a little happiness

I honestly really don’t know how to feel about L anymore after seeing the absolute cringe posting from A, S, and R today that just screams early 20s in such a way that just makes this so uncomfy. Like, I get it, maybe I bought into the press too much, but damn, it feels so weird to see just this… disconnect between who we thought he was and then who he really seems to be if the people you surround yourself with are very much a reflection of who you are.
It just feels juvenile and not what you’d want to see from someone at the start of their 30s. And sure, maybe this is all part of a very specific image and look he wants to go for ala Austin Butler, but IDK, Luke’s success is coming from a very different base and it’s not smart to try to completely play against it or reject it.
It is safe to say that I agree that Luke's close friends (Rory, Sienna and Antonia) scream young and immature. But to be fair Sienna and Antonia are young, they are acting exactly how a lot of people their age do, especially given the lifestyle that they live and have. (or at least show to the world)
The onus shouldn't be on them to change their ways completely, they are at an age (young adults) where they are growing and learning who they want to be, and I can't really fault them for that.
I remember being their age and damn it a weird time, not fully an adult but not a child anymore either. Having true independence and making important decisions on my own. It was one of the most important times in my life for maturing and growth.
But maturing and growth can happen at any age and at any time. I think Luke is in a transitional stage in his life.
I also don't think that the people you surround yourself is a complete reflection, but they will for sure directly impact how you think and act.
This is glaringly true in Luke's case, since we know that when he is with his Bridgerton cast mates he does give off a different type of energy.
I do think that for Luke's career he should have more boundaries with what his friends post. We can see that they are having a negative impact on how the fans and general audience view him. But in order for Luke to do something like that, he would have to realize that himself.
I think that Luke is currently trying to figure himself out right now, I think that's why we haven't heard of any events he will be going to, or things that he has booked (and maybe even why he didn't go to Wimbledon). Hopefully he can come to terms with the type of person he wants to portray to the world and who he wants to be.
I think that the conclusion to this part of his life isn't over yet. Hopefully he is getting some support from people who aren't in his core group of friends, who can look at his situation with a clear view and no bias.
But who actually knows what is going on in Luke's life? We don't know him.

Tadashi used to have a toxic perfection problem as a kid. Not in like a “winning is first place and everything else is loosing” kind of way but in a “I got a 7/10, that’s a C, I need my teacher to give me a retry”
Now if someone else didn’t do so great on an assignment or anything like that he was the first person to tell them it was going to be okay and it’s important to not talk down to yourself. But those same rules didn’t apply to him.
When SAT scores came out in highschool, Aunt Cass took the boys out to celebrate scores so good they brought up the schools statistics. But Hiro did better on the math portion than he did. He wasn’t jealous or anything but it was like “I should’ve don’t better” which makes no sense because Hiro is an actual genius.
That conversation what kind of like when Rory gets her scores back and Lorelei has to tell her: “those are damn good scores” Aunt Cass has to tell him that so he can actually enjoy their day out rather than tweak out about what he could have done better.
He pretty much looses all sense of that when he gets to college and realizes that an A in high school is a C in college.
Hiro on the other hand, did not give a flying fuck. Granted he was 9 in high school and graduated when most people start. But he really didn’t care about high school. Other than English it wasn’t hard, it was so easy. And he wasn’t distracted by anything social because he was developmentally there. The girls were too old, and he was too small to play any sports and make friends that weren’t his brother.
But when he gets to college he starts up a little bit of toxic perfection. Especially when he meets Karmi cause it’s like “I should be doing more, I have to keep up”
Also feel like there’s a really sad sense of “once a child prodigy always a child prodigy” and a fear that if he doesn’t like up to his established child prodigy standards (emphasis on child) then he’s nothing. Which is only pushed by the fact he’s surrounded by college students who are used to college level work and have college age maturity.
(Which is kind of my criticism of Big Hero 6, Hiro needs friends his own age. I love GoGo, Wasabi, Honey, and Fred. But he needs living breathing humans his own age. )

Hogwart Legacy AU: Prof.Sharp
Hey chat, how would you feel if I said I forgot I was doing the deep dive of characters with my MC? I was busy dragging myself out of art block but HERE WE GO!!! (I picked this one via a spin wheel, this one is longer then the others ones I've done because firstly my MC is closer with this John Wick wannabe then the others I've done so there's more to write, and secondly because I may or may not be making a fanfic for these two losers, so I have more ideas etc ^^
First Impression:
Sharp:
✭He's heard a lot about the new student even before entering his class, Survived a Dragon attack and first day of classes saving Hogsmeade from Trolls?? Impressive sure but. . . Problem child much??
✭Pretty skilled with potions for a first timer, Not to mention the fact that they managed to stay on task even after Mr.Weasleys attempt at persuasion. Yet again Impressive, and impressing this man is like taking a Dungbog.
Rory:
✭Honestly didn't understand the constant talk about the professor once actually meeting him. They've heard him get called Intimidating, which is true, then again they've faced a troll and an enchanted armor. However, he isn't purposely cruel like they've heard. . . He's just blunt. Just like them fr!
✭Almost immediately one of their favorite professors, straight to the point. That's how they liked it. They liked potions anyway, its like baking in a way. . . They like baking :]
Overall Dynamic/Relationship:
✭ah yes, the classic and never old trope of a grumpy ass man taking a traumatized child under his wing. Starts off as a Mentor and Apprentice Duo, changes into a Adoptive father child duo. [Which they both PROFUSELY DENY for as long as possible] Y'all know it, you love it, it's great. Don't lie you know it's great
✭Mfs are literally same person different font prove me wrong. Sarcastic, Grumpy asf, Straight to the point, PAINFULLY blunt. Like come on man! They give Joel and Ellie or like Batman and Nightwing istg prove me wrong it's impossible.
Over the storyline [Also Fanfic lore!!]:
I don't really mind spoiling parts of the thing I'm writing, if anything it'll help people understand the relationship more!! So here on out I'm gonna talk about my AU so there will be interactions out of game!! It isn't apart of canon!! [Theses events begin to take place after the first trial]
✭One of the most important things Sharp was well known for, his miraculous perception and observance skills. Over the first half of the semester, the Potions Professor clearly noticed things the other staff didn't
✭The new 5th year always seemed to be running in and out of school, Barely making it to classes and at times not attending them at all. Every time, Fig always somehow had a alibi or excuse for them. Not to mention they somehow always have bruises or other random marks on them.
✭Nobody was that clumsy, especially them, he's seen them before and they are in no way a clutz who rams into things as they claim to be.
✭Let me tell you, His spidey senses were TINGLING.
✭Something was going on here, something behind the lines. He was going to find out what, that's for damn sure. If a student is in danger, he'll get to the bottom of it. Damn firm sense of justice
✭First thing he tried to do was ask the Fig about it, as he seems to be knowing more then he's letting on. Especially with his odd request for the potions master to try and find out whatever he could about the Goblins for Merlin's sake
✭Professor sharp MAY have implyed either Fig is purposely putting the student in danger or he didn't care about them all too much. As you would expect, that didn't settle so well, tense conversation turned to a heated argument. Ending it with a slam of a door and getting absolutely no where in his investigation.
✭He could ask the student directly, but judging by how stubborn they are. He doubts he would get a straight answer. . . If one at all. Not like he could tell the headmaster without any proper proof then a suspicious feeling, as if the irritating man would listen.
✭He was at a standstill, deciding to take a walk to thing. . .when he paused at seeing a disillusioned student walking around the main hall. . .wait a minute is that
✭It was Rory, speak of the devil. As he would with any other student he confronted them, after all this hadn't been the first time they've been caught by staff sneaking around at the dead of night. He ultimately decided a weeks worth of detention was suitable, he was in a mood okay give him a break
✭Rory of course was NOT pleased by this news, they had things to do. Ancient magic to discover, trials to prepare for, Demiguise statues to find!! They didn't have the time to scrub cauldrons!! Nevertheless they had to go, despite Figs protests to sharp which fell on dead ears
✭The detentions were. . .not as horrible as expected to say the least. Instead of scrubbing cauldrons the entire time, it became more of a extra class. Sharp, in his downtime brewed potions for the hospital wing and. . . Another project for the headmaster. He always did it himself but since they were here, why not get the kid to help him out a bit? Get ingredients for him, mince them, juice horklumps etc,,,
✭Sharp, for some unknown reason sort of enjoyed the students presence. They were helpful, but not a pushover. Respectful, but also seemed to have a sense of humor judging by the few sarcastic back and forths. They seemed to actually like to learn, being a fast learner at that. A wonderful quality when he began to actually sort of Mentor them with things other then Potions
✭Rory sorta felt the same way, it was a simpler thing to do that week, something that while not being optional was still enjoyable. Turns out the professor has a LOT of story's about His Auror days he surprisingly seems fond of speaking of. While he does emphasize the dangers and tribulations of the job, he doesn't seem to have hated it. If anything it still seems like just as much of a passion as it was when he was an Auror. Maybe they could be an Auror someday. . .
✭After the weeks detentions were over, It was almost a silent agreement that Rory could still return to help and learn a few tips. That was until around winter [aka, after the third trial]. They seemed to act a bit different, More anxious and jumpy. Slowly beginning to not return as much to the classroom. The Professor didn't mind, Whatever, they have their own things to do. However don't think Sharp forgot about the odd behavior from earlier this year, he still knew something was going on. Still kept a good eye on them
✭Rory after the confrontation with Ranrok and the Loss of Lodgok, unfortunately ran out of wiggenwelds and was in no shape to get to the ROR. So It wasn't until they walked into the potions classroom at 3 in the morning under the impression that the Potions Professor was already gone, drenched in blood did all hell broke loose
✭WHAT. WHEN. HOW. IS THAT A ENTIRE CHUNK OUT OF THEIR ARM MISSING???? WHY ARE THEY MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HIM BEING MAD????Safe to say the Professor wasn't pleased to see the student on their deathbed. After getting a few potions in them, it was the quickest this man has moved towards the nearest floo flame to the Hospital Wing
✭Next morning Sharp DEMANDED answers. They tried to pass it off as a wrong place but come on he isn't that daft!! Same time he was trying to push answers out of them, fig came to visit! That made his mood somehow sour more. How was this man so calm? This kid almost died!?
✭The Professors got into a squabble like schoolchildren until Rory had to break it up, promising the professor answers later. Nurse Blainey shooing him out of hospital Wing for "trying to interrogate a patient at 8AM". Sharp was pissed, but decided to be patient. He swears to Merlin if he gets another blatant lie he is going to throw a FIT.
✭He got answers. . . But it wasn't anything he was expecting. Ancient magic? Goblins?? Ranrok?? He had to sit down for a moment istg. This kid was single handedly trying to save the wizarding world while SOMEHOW KEEPING IT UNDER WRAPS? If he wasn't so damn worried and downright flabbergasted he would be genuinely proud.
✭He was asked to keep it on the downlow for now, by both Fig and the student. He honestly didn't know what to do, so he just vowed to help as much as he could. Much to Figs dismay of course. . .
✭He got radio silence from both the kid and their mentor for the next day. Seemingly to vanish off the face of the bloody earth. It wasn't until Professor Weasley was pounding on his door yelling about an attack on the school did things become more tense. Of course Rory had something to do with this. . . Didn't they?
✭Rest of the battle of hogwarts goes as usual, wasn't until the goblins began to actually fall back did the professor set his mind on the kid again. Attempting to find them, and eventually he did!! Yay!! He found them in the slowly but surely collapsing cavern, more distraught and upset then he had ever seen. Oh. . . Not yay
✭Fig was dead, they were in the middle of having a blown panic attack. This wasn't what he was hoping to come back to. He tried to help as much as possible, wasn't too much help tho. He was never good with emotions
✭Rory felt dizzy, fuzzy. . .like really fuzzy. It was like they weren't in control of their own body. After a moment if struggle passing out themself. Which the potions professor. . .absolutely wigged out. Eventually the other professors showed up just in time. . . Well not really
Aftermath/Future:
✭Rory was apparently in a small coma, damage to the head, body over exhausted, not to mention a concussion and several other severe wounds. They were inthe hospital Wing for a good few days
✭To say the professor was worried was a rather huge understatement. Besides Professor Weasley he was up in the Hospital Wing the most. Killed his leg, but that wasn't on his mind. As much as he knows he liked the kid, it felt odd to feel this worried about someone. Ever since his partner died (who aka in my Au was a brother to him) , he's never really felt so concerned, He hid it under a scowl tho
✭Once Rory woke up, they got their ear chewed off for not coming to him with this sooner, not being careful, giving him a heart attack. And also they unfortunately got the harsh demand of a full explanation, nothing left out. They agreed (thank Merlin he did NOT have the patience to fight with them on it anymore)
✭The next week or two they did not leave this man's sight. It only got worse after they managed to sneak out of the castle with Mrs.Onai and defeat Harlow. He was totally correct in his first assumption they were a problem child. If they tried to get out if the castle, "And just where do you think you're running off to?".
✭After the school year ended, and the MANY meetings with the ministry were over. Sharp was officially given the role of Rory's new mentor to help catch then up over the Summer. Not that neither of them had a problem with that of course. . . He did have a few more stories to share after all
I AM SO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG, I HAVE BEEN HYPER FIXATING ON THEM SO BAD AND LIKE GUH. Curse my cringe ass Parental issues. But anyway, Probably going to start writing the fic I mentioned now that this is gonna be posted. I have an outline for what I'm writing so it'll be nice! Still expect a few drawings here and there dw!!

Now we need snippets of Sera and Carmilla as grandmothers!!!
When Caz, Rhys, and Oberon are born, Carmilla and Sera are the typical over-protective grandmothers. Particularly Sera, who has never even seen a baby before, but will still carry all three of them around at the same time, swaddling them close to her chest.
Carmilla's been through this song and dance before, but never with boys. Both of them are out of their element when they become toddlers and start rough-housing on a daily basis. Caz in particular can be kind of a bully, taking a little too much after Velvette when he's really young, but he mellows out as they get older. Ronnie and Rhys are inseparable and always want to be together, so Sera will feed and hold those two at the same time, while Carmilla feeds and interacts with Caz, who is more independent. As far as temperament goes, they are pretty typical babies. A lot like Clara was. Nothing too extreme.
When Aurora is born, Carmilla is more in her element. She can handle girls...or so she thinks. Rory is very different from how Odette was as a baby. Rory is a bit of a firecracker and a lot more fussy than the boys ever were, but her grandmothers are patient and soothe her through her tantrums. Sera can't get over the fact how tiny she is, and just like with the boys, wants to hold her constantly. As a toddler, Rory gets into everything -- tearing pages out of books, pouring bottles down the sink, coloring on the walls, etc. Carmilla can't believe this child came out of Odette -- her perfect angel baby who never did anything wrong in her life. Carmilla blames Verosika's genes. Rory mellows out the most as she gets older -- but those first few years are rough.
Lysander is finally the break that they all need -- he reminds Carmilla exactly how Odette used to be as a baby, so it's like some weird cosmic joke that he came out of Verosika. He meets all of his milestones very early and is smart as a whip. He is absolutely obsessed with his grandmothers, especially Sera, and sometimes they are the only ones who can calm him down when he's upset. He doesn't get upset or cry very often, though, even as a newborn -- he's the most chill baby Hell has ever seen. But he constantly wants to be held, and Sera will never tell him no. She's almost perpetually holding him and carrying him around on her hip. Carmilla worries he's being spoiled, but Sera insists he just loves them very much.
(Should I do one for the Charlie's Angel's fankid I came up with? I haven't fleshed her out enough, or figured out if I'm adding more, but I could try, LOL).

Hi! Long time no yap but I've been really bothered by this thing and I know you're just the person I can go to with this (even if we don't always end up agreeing at times).
I got into a tiff with someone in a comments section of a post that was about Amy (Which character do you think deserved to become a villain? or something similar). They brought up Amy's abuse of her boyfriend. I may have tried to defend Amy (key word is tried. I am officially rubbish at debating) but then I may have said something? Because they said that I (and apparently a lot of other fans) was excusing Amy's abuse because of her trauma. It got me stumped because isn't young Amy's treatment of Rory rooted in her trauma? Did I miss the memo where we separate trauma and abuse? Am I missing something?
That statement bothered me a lot because if there's one thing I never want to do it's defend an abuser. So here I am, humbly asking and hoping to clear the muddy waters.
Your really confused and disturbed moot, Tia 💌
TIA!!!!! Thanks for the ask 💌 , and I send you all the hugs.
Discussion of abuse, trauma, ableism, infidelity, and unhealthy relationship dynamics beneath the cut.
(First off… while I really appreciate your faith in my explaining skills <3 <3 <3 my passion for traumatized characters and mentally ill+neurodivergent rights doesn't make me especially qualified to fully clear muddy waters especially not knowing the full context, but I feel you, and what follows is my informed perspective!)
Speaking generally first, harm done in media is best examined by the impact on the audience, with a different lens than harm done to real people. While relatable experiences in media can be useful and validating and incredibly important, you can’t be “defending an abuser” when the abuse is fictional. It's actually normal for traumatized/ND/mentally ill people to project onto mentally ill villains, when villains are the only significant representation for those stigmatized symptoms in a media landscape that excludes and demonizes us simply for existing. RTD can't stop people who hallucinate from reclaiming the Master's Drums and projecting onto the Master, for example — 90% of the best Doctor Who psychosis fic by psychotic authors is about the Master, whether RTD likes it or not. It's not true crime.
(This is speaking generally. Amy Pond is very much not the Master.)
Abuse is a behavior, and there can be many reasons for it, but reasons based in trauma don’t make it not abuse (some forms of generational trauma can propagate abusive parenting styles, when the parent thinks abusive parenting is normal, or lives entirely vicariously through their child). This absolutely should not be taken to mean trauma correlates with abusive behavior; rather that abusive behaviors from traumatized people are more likely to present in specific ways.
Abuse is also a targeted behavior, based in control — not consistently displayed C-PTSD symptoms as seen in Season 5 Amy Pond through many aspects of her life. Mental health symptoms don't become abuse just because they hinder one partner from meeting the other partner's needs. Any life event can do that.
Without knowing the context of the arguments, this is the aspect of their relationship I've seen you talk about before (which I also feel strongly about), and what I assume is what you were debating? So, here I will talk specifically in regard to Season 5.
We all know Amy — she's never attached to Leadworth because she never wanted to leave Scotland, no steady therapist because none of them stick up for her, can't stick with one job yet her first choice is a job that simulates intimacy because her avoidant behavior (a known trauma response) isn't sustainable to her wellbeing. Rory knows her fears of commitment stem from her repeated abandonments, it’s why he’ll always wait for her, and it's why he blames the Doctor “You make it so they don't want to let you down.”, who apart from having caused a lot of her trauma, has actively taken advantage of her being the “Scottish girl in the English village” who's “still got that accent,” because he wants to feel important, so yeah, I think interpreting Amy's issues (and how Amy and Rory transverse them) as Amy abusing Rory indicates a fundamental misunderstanding of their relationship, as well as a misunderstanding of the (raggedy) Doctor’s role in Amy’s formative self-image (which of course she works through in Season 6, but I am sticking to Season 5).
Abuse is always based in control. That just doesn’t fit here. While Amy's detachment from her real life includes things like calling Rory her “kind of boyfriend” (which she is upfront about to his face; differing commitment levels isn't abuse, though it can be a relationship red flag for both parties IRL) — her Season 5 disregard of Rory’s feelings occurs only in response to the fairytale embodiment of her trauma. It's never a response to Rory; it's a response to the Doctor, who stole her childhood and led her by the hand to her death. She cheats on Rory with the Doctor in her bedroom full of Doctor toys, drawings, models, she made from childhood to early adulthood.
(And yes, like many repeatedly-traumatized people, Amy is prone to being sensitive and reactive. Take her “Well, shut up then!” line in The Big Bang; but given Rory responds to this by hugging her, clearly he doesn’t take it as her actually dismissing him. He knows her better than that.)
And by no means do I meant to imply this is fair to young Rory, poor Rory, who's left struggling with the feeling that his role in her life is in competition with the role of her trauma (aka the Doctor). But not every unhealthy relationship dynamic is unhealthy because of abuse. Labelling Amy's treatment of Rory in Season 5 more accurately isn't the same as excusing her harmful choices — but making mistakes is part of being human, Amy's mistakes are certainly understandable, and she works through them out of love for Rory.
If there's one thing to say about Moffat women, it's that Moffat allows his female characters the same grace that the male characters *coughTENcough* have always had, to hurt and struggle and make realistic mistakes and overcome those mistakes and to heal without being demonized.
Amy isn't perfect, but she is a fully realized character, and her story gives us a resonant depiction of childhood trauma.

Life on Mars must've been pretty depressing.
Cw: Amy and Rory have a child before River. The child in this fic is the reader. No warnings, a little talk of Cancer.
Uncle- like!11th doctor x teen!reader
Reader is in her late teens, the 900-year-old doctor has a medical degree.
Tumblr media
You were well aware that using your phone to Google symptoms was never a good idea. Being surrounded by the doctor every day and accompanying him on practically all of his travels in the TARDIS had taught you a lot about the universe's many life forms, ailments, and treatments.
But when you're the one with a problem, the situation changes slightly since no one likes to confess they have a medical condition, and no one wants to seek care right soon, especially if they have to inform the doctor. You packed the most of your possessions prior to your trip. You took your laptop and searched the internet for similar symptoms.
Then something comes up. Scary stuff. Things that are unlikely to be true.
The TARDIS was black without the doctor. You sat in front of the glaringly bright laptop screen, your head resting on your pulled-up knees and your knees touching your chest on the chair. You swallowed deeply, utterly embracing yourself. You were biting furiously on your bottom lip, your sharp eyes searching the various tabs open in front of you. Terrifying phrases popped out at you, words you were already familiar with, words that triggered a slew of emotions inside your already agitated mind.
Your chest heaves, and your breaths stutter, suffocating you. Your eyes are burning, and you gasp, forcing your breath back into your lungs. It's not the first time little panic attacks have occurred, though it's never been for a medical reason. You puff your chest and breathe out slower than normal, as best as you can, lagging and coughing every few breaths.
When you're calm, you grab for your mug of tea, raising it to your lips for a little drink before holding it in front of you as you read.
Suddenly, the blackness that had enveloped you for the last half hour gave way to bright light, and you blinked furiously for a time before turning to face the TARDIS door. Doctor was just closing it, bags of Chinese food dangling from his arm. "Am I interrupting some secret night meeting here?" he enquired, his eyebrows raised, and you groaned, returning your gaze to the screen before closing the laptop and exiting the tabs.
You turn in your chair, looking mindlessly at nothing in particular while Doctor places the bags on the floor by the control station. You'd been living with him for three months while Amy and Rory were at home caring for the baby. Without a question, that was going well.
The TARDIS was enormous, but the absence of a large table to eat at, as well as appropriate ceramic plates and silverware, necessitated some creativity, which none of you were concerned about, especially because the doctor is an extraterrestrial. Doctor went to get your meal every night, landing on various worlds, and the two of you ate out of plastic containers with weak extraterrestrial silverware while watching a television Rory would have flipped over as soon as he laid eyes on it. It had been a good, enjoyable couple of months away from your parents, which you both readily admitted.
Up till today, it appeared. Up until that morning, when you had awoken and had a shower before Doctor took you both to the next little planet. He had observed your distant demeanour all day and was still trying to figure it out. For as long as he'd known you and loved you as if you were his own kid, he wasn't particularly good at distinguishing between your feelings. Still not as good as Amy. She was nearly a god at figuring you out.
"What were you looking at?" he said in curiosity, gesturing to his closed laptop. As you turned to look back, he shrugged off his brown blazer. You clearly hesitated, opening your lips and perhaps thinking about the words that had suddenly occurred to you.
"The possibility of life on Mars," you abruptly concluded, standing from your chair and wrapping your dressing gown about yourself. Doctor arched an eyebrow and paused for a while as you sat on the floor near the control console, scooting your back against the wall. You grabbed the book on the side and started reading, but your strained look told him you weren't happy. You were so preoccupied with nothing that you were visibly worried.
He slowly put his jacket on the door hook and sat on the bed's edge, kicking off his shoes. He looked over his shoulder. You were flipping over pages, making crackling noises as the paper in the book flipped violently every half second. He moaned softly. "Life on Mars must've been pretty depressing," he remarked, turning and sitting alongside you, back against the wall, legs crossed at the ankles in front of him. He interlaced his fingers on his lap, gaze fixed on the panel in front of him; when you halted the flicking, he knew you were attempting to remain silent, stalling even. He tilted his head to look at you, observing your furrowed brows and tension. and tense jaw. “What’s wrong?
You bit your bottom lip and dropped the book on the floor below you, and Doctor grabbed for it, dragging it beside him. He waited patiently. You plainly wanted to speak with him, and although he wouldn't force you, he wasn't going to let you go without spilling. Not now. He watched you, his kind gaze persistent but not unsettling, and you turned a minute later, raising a hand to wipe between your eyes. He shifted to face you more."If I tell you something," you delicately said, "will you promise not to tell mum?"
His eyebrows rose. That was a hefty request. Not just because Amy was your mother, but because even if he made and kept his commitment, Amy would undoubtedly find out. "That depends on a lot of factors, Y/N," he said after a time.
You shake your head. "I promise it- it's not something she needs to know yet."
"Yet?"
You closed your eyes and clenched your hands. Frustration flowed inexplicably through you. "If something comes from what I tell you, then yeah, we'll tell Mum and Dad…" You opened them again, and your shoulders dropped in defeat. "But I don't wanna worry them."
"Well, now you're worrying me."
Your heart pumped hard against your ribs. It wasn't that you were worried or nervous about speaking with him; it was the repercussions that scared you, the notion that what you'd googled may be real. And it was this that made your eyes wet and your cheeks flush hot. Doctor scowled, whirling quickly and bringing you into his arms. "Okay, now you're really worrying me," he whispered, pressing the back of your head against his chest.
"I'm sorry," you whispered, your eyes tightly clenched. You concentrated on your breathing, knowing that deliberately letting your tears flow would be foolish, no matter how terrified you were. It was probably nothing.
"Hey, it's okay." He stroked his hand up and down your back. "Calm down and tell me what's wrong."
"I found a, uh… something… on my ribs this morning." You rubbed your eyes.
Doctor blinked. "Something?"
"A lump." "I think."
The doctor sat back a little, realising something. Anyone who finds an unexpected tumour on their body will instinctively assume the worst possible outcome. Lump, tumour, radiation, chemo, hospitalisation, testing, and death. And it was only inevitable for it to be your first thinking.
"Okay," he responded confidently, as if the unspoken words 'we've got this' reinforced it. "That is okay. A lump does not necessarily indicate what you believe it does, okay? I'll run some tests tomorrow to double-check. He stated it as if he knew it was nothing, as if cancer wouldn't dare to approach you with him on standby.
You nodded and took in a hesitant breath. You raised your tearful eyes to meet his, and he smiled down at you before planting a kiss on your forehead for comfort. "Yeah," you agreed. You moved slightly and unfastened your dressing robe. Your hands were damp, but you tugged your shirt up until you reached the bulge, peering down almost reluctantly. Your heart leapt at the feeling. You’re silently thanking God it was still the same size.
"I'm sorry," you whispered, your eyes tightly clenched. You concentrated on your breathing, knowing that deliberately letting your tears flow would be foolish, no matter how terrified you were. It was probably nothing.
The doctor walked closer, rolling up his sleeves. It felt less serious with only him, no mother or higher authority, and more like when you'd fall and scrape your knee as a child and rush to him and your mother. Doctor was always there to wipe away your tears and seat you on his lap till you calmed down. If there was anyone you felt comfortable trusting to deliver possibly life-changing news, it was the 900-year-old doctor.
You felt his hands at your side and tried to relax as much as possible.
"Does it hurt?" he enquired.
You shake your head. "No."
"Do you notice anything else?" Are you experiencing abdominal pain? "Weight loss?"
"No. "What does that mean?"
"It signifies…" He softly patted your side and pulled down your shirt. "I don't think it's cancer, Y/N."
You exhaled deeply and sank significantly.
"A lump on the rib that's related to cancer is usually sarcoma, and if it was you'd have some other symptoms." When you looked up at him with relieved eyes, he smiled and extended his arms for another squeeze which you gladly took.
"What do you think it is?" you murmured gently, resting your head on his upper body.
"It's just a cyst. There's nothing to worry about. That was absolutely not what he expected this week.
His gaze dropped on his laptop. "You were searching the web of lies instead of telling me," he said, and you let out a small laugh.
"Find me first the next time. There's no need to build yourself up. Robots lie. Trust me; I should know."
"You sound like Mother."
"Oh God! Please eat before you expire."
