Todays @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is wizard, and I’m doing my best to get back into my more substantial projects, I promise
(569 words.)
“Mr Lupin, you are, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most infuriating wizards we have had! Would you care to tell me why the entirety of your charms class started laughing uncontrollably apart from you?” Minerva asked, arms folding. He merely shrugged, casual smile playing across his face.
“Dunno, Minnie. Must’ve dodged the charm.”
“And you expect me to believe that? Flitwick has been undoing this all afternoon! I’m going to assume Mr Potter had a hand in this.” Another shrug, and another wave of frustration over Minerva.
“Couldn’t tell you.”
Minerva runs an irritated hand over her face, stopping to rest at her temple for a moment.
“Merlin, I’m going to have to call your parents in, aren’t I?”
“If you wanted to.”
Without another word, Minerva pulled her desk drawer open, grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill, and wrote to his parents, purposefully avoiding the phrase ‘little shit’ as she went.
“Wotcher, Minnie!” Sirius chirped, strolling down the corridor and shooting her a smile.
“You haven’t changed one bit, have you?” She said back, unable to hide her own smile at his infectious cheer. Remus wrapped an arm around Sirius’ waist.
“What’s our son gone and done?” He asked, and Minerva exhaled, watching them pointedly.
“Jinxed the entirety of his class into uncontrollable laughter.” A pause, and Sirius chuckled heartily.
“Oh, that’s bloody brilliant! How long’d it take to undo?” Remus, quite clearly biting back his own laughter, turned to his husband.
“Sirius! We have to be adults, here.”
“Please, Moony, we did way worse.”
“Mmm, we did. Still, not the time to go on some big tangent about that time we accidentally made everyone in the castle sing for 6 days.”
“You told him that?” Minerva asked, stunned.
“…maybe. To be fair, I did tell him how long we were in detention for!”
“You told him about how it made us get together.” Remus added.
“Well, you told him about the quidditch commentating incident!” Sirius protested.
“And you told him about chucking all of the Slytherin’s luggage into the black lake.”
“Yeah, I don’t think a lecture from us will be as impactful as we want it to be.” Sirius concluded.
“It’s fine, I’ve got a plan.” Remus waved him off easily.
They followed Minerva to her office, where Teddy was sitting with his arms crossed. He turned his head at the arrival of his parents, smiling like he had done absolutely nothing wrong.
“Hey, dads.”
“Professor McGonnagal here tells us that you’ve been tormenting your class?” Teddy just shrugged.
“Don’t know what you’re on about. No evidence.” Remus swiftly nudged Sirius to make sure he didn’t start laughing again.
“Well, I’m glad I’ll be able to start keeping an eye on you, then!” Remus said cheerfully, feigned relief flooding through his voice. They all watched as Teddy’s face dropped.
“What?”
“Oh, did I not tell you? I accepted a position here. Starting in September. I’m your new DADA professor.”
“You’re not.” Teddy said, voice low, like he was trying to talk Remus out of it.
“Mm, but I am.” He said with a tranquil smile, turning to Sirius, who nodded. Minerva watched the interaction and tried to keep from chuckling.
She hadn’t realised that Remus had accepted the offer yet, but she was so fucking glad that he had.
With a casual clearing of the throat, she leaned in and added,
“You’ll be serving all of your detentions with me.”

Hi Jade! I had an idea for a request! I was thinking about reader with a really low sex drive and maybe one day she starts to get a little worried and insecure about it and one of the boys just reassures her that he doesn’t care about it<3 idk if that made sense but write for whatever boy you want to I don’t have a preference love you 😚
How Remus, James and Sirius would comfort you when you worry your low libido is a problem. fem, 2.2k
❥ Remus
Remus sits with his legs crossed in the corner of the settee, a book open on his thigh, though his attention has been caught and kept by the TV.
You think some grovelling may be in order after last night. Quiet, you round the settee and climb onto the seat next to his, body turned away from the TV, arm creeping onto his thigh.
“Hi,” he says.
“Hi.”
He encourages you closer, leaning back to give you room to lie on him. His right arm does most of the work to keep you up, sandwiching you to his chest, an almost not quite hug. “What’s wrong?” he asks.
“How do you know something is wrong?”
He taps your back with his fingers, looking up at the ceiling with a sarcastic smile. “What could it be?”
The hints of green in his irises are more pronounced when he’s sitting in the sun like this, rays cutting in through the window, turning his pale skin slightly tanned and his hair a warmer chestnut colour that curls behind his ears. The scar on his lip relaxes as his joking smile fades to a proper one, a lovey-dovey type that melts you. It’s nice to be looked at so nicely, like just the sight of you inspires happiness.
You shift off of your legs, deciding you might as well lay flat with your head in his lap instead. He lets you sink down. His hand takes up station near your cheek, the back of his curled fingers brushing the skin just shy of your eye.
“This is nice,” he whispers.
“I have to say sorry,” you whisper back, drawing shapes into his t-shirt, the soft muscle of his stomach pillowy to poke.
Remus nods emphatically. “Yes, you didn’t come and see me as soon as you woke up. I heard you on your phone in bed. That’s not very nice, is it, depriving me of your company?”
You shake your head into his thigh, a slow, guilty movement. “No, about last night.”
“What about last night?”
Last night, Remus had given you a very slow kiss. He’d been half asleep and you’d been more so, but it was a lovely kiss and his hand had been rubbing sweet half circles into your hip, but it still made you feel awful when he asked if he could touch you and you’d told him you were too tired, even if he didn’t mind. He’d just kissed your cheek and snuggled into you like a life-sized teddy bear. He never takes your rejection as an insult.
“You… you wanted to fuck and I didn’t, I’m sorry. I feel like every time you ask lately I say no.”
Remus frowns at you. Deep frown, eyebrows pinching and brown eyes bordering sullen. His fingers uncurl over your cheek and cover your ear as he cups your face. “I don’t want you to be sorry. The reason I ask is so you can say no, you can always say no.”
“I kiss you, and I wind you up, and then I can’t–”
“Which I enjoy. You don’t have to worry about that.” He leans down to kiss you but doesn’t fully get there, your noses touching, and then he’s leaning away again. “Please don’t say sorry. You know you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”
“I know that. I’m not trying to make you into the bad guy.”
Remus taps your nose with his and leans in again. “I know you’re not. You aren’t one either. Sex is just another fun thing to do, okay? If you don’t want to, that shouldn’t bother me, and it doesn’t. I promise.”
You curl your arms around his neck. He lifts his head, subsequently lifting you as he moves, his arm curling behind your back for a hug.
“Sometimes I want more of you than you want to give,” he says, “but it’s just because I love you, not because I need it. Don’t be silly, dove. Don’t say sorry.”
He presses the heel of his palm to your back and begins the heavy pressure of a back rub. You won’t say sorry if he doesn’t want you to. You shouldn’t anyways. But he’s your boyfriend and you love him, so his being accepting of it is a relief.
Like he can read your mind, he says, “You never have to say sorry for this.”
“I know.” You lift your chin. “Kiss?”
Remus kisses you quickly before tucking you into his neck for a long hug.
❥ James
“You’re beautiful.”
You’re boiling. James doesn’t notice, kissing and kissing and kissing, your neck flushed with his touch and his murmured compliment. “James.”
He tilts his head, weaving in on the other side of your neck to give it the same loving treatment. “Pretty doesn’t cover it,” he says in a rush, his teeth scratching dully up to your jaw, his kissing like nips without any pain behind them as he reaches your cheek.
You catch his face in your hands and push him away gently. It’s so hot in here you can’t breathe, and you’re not in the mood for any further action. It’s funny. You adore his kisses and James is undeniably a good fuck, but your libido is low no matter how pretty your boyfriend is, or how pretty he finds you. You’d always wondered if that meant there was something wrong with you.
James doesn’t seem to think so.
“Sorry,” he says, beaming, “that’s enough, right?”
You feel a weird sharp stab in your chest. “Sorry?”
“I’m getting ahead of myself.” James sits up where he’d been lying on top of you, having manoeuvred such a position in the midst of all his warm kisses. He sits back on his calves, kneeling in the space between your legs, a hand falling instead to your knee. “It’s fucking hot in here, isn’t it?”
“Sorry.”
“Did you make it hot?”
You look at your hand on your chest. He’s noticed you don’t want to take it any further, you hardly ever do. You knew he’d see that eventually. You have the libido of a panda, where James is an athletic young man who loves you.
“No, I mean. I’m sorry, because I never want to when you want to.”
Your serious tone surprises him. “Baby, what the fuck are you talking about?” he asks. “I am so lost.”
“Just– Most of the time when you try to sleep with me I turn you down. You know already.”
“Baby, that doesn’t matter.” He leans in again, only to hold your wrists, two big hands curled around your arms to stop your fidgeting. Two pet names in quick succession is unlike him, and it relaxes you before he’s begun to explain. “It doesn’t matter at all. Just makes it better when we do manage to want it at the same time.”
You grimace. “Are you sure?”
“You want me to be honest?”
You’re not sure. “Yeah. Please be honest.”
“Sometimes we kiss and you know I want you,” his eyes dart down, prompting a surprised laugh from you, and an easy chuckle from him in return, “and it’s frustrating, but it’s not ‘cos of you. I can go shower and sort myself out and it’s not the same as being with you, but it’s not your fault. It’s just a reaction.”
“But I feel bad for making you deal with it yourself.”
“What are you supposed to do? You can’t force yourself if you’re not in the mood. That’s the last thing I want you to do. I’d rather have it fall off.”
You laugh again. James’ smile is glowing, and warm as he presses it to your wrist in a chaste kiss. “We can do other things. If you feel that badly about it, you can give me a scalp massage, please. You shouldn’t feel badly about it, but still. If you’re okay with it, I’d love one.”
He presses his cheek to your chest in want of your hand.
You press your fingertips to his hairline and weave your fingers into the roots of his soft hair, shaking them, nails scratching lightly at his scalp like you know he likes. “How’s that?” you ask.
“Better than sex.” He is unmistakably sincere.
❥ Sirius
“Did you lock the door?”
Sirius hums.
“Close the kitchen window?”
“I did,” he says, waving your hand gently where he’s holding it between you both. You lay straight in bed with the duvet up to your chests and the TV playing one of his favourite movies.
“Okay. Did you take your medication?”
“Yeah, sweetheart. Everything’s done. You can relax.”
You pick your book up and open it to the first page. You’ve been meaning to read this one for a while, you’re happy to get the time, but you’re feeling queasy about something.
Sirius is a loud guy. He loves the glitz and glamour of life, he likes to go out, play fast and hard, he’s electric most of the time. He can be quiet, too, like you tend to be, but you’re worried that you’re another night closer to him deciding he’s bored. It’s been weeks since you went anywhere, and you haven’t fucked in almost as long.
“Can I have this?” he asks, pulling your hand to his lips.
You smile as he kisses your knuckles, barely there presses of his lips to your skin that linger.
“You haven’t turned a page yet.”
“It’s hard to start,” you tell him.
“What’s it about? Fantasy?”
“No, just a romance, I think.”
“I like your romances. You read the complicated ones with the good love, like ours.”
It’s a very nice thing to say, even if you’re not sure how he knows what romance you’re reading. He enjoys listening to you talk about books when they’re done, so perhaps the details have sunk in.
You let the book flop to the side and curl up around your joined hands. “I love you,” you say.
He curls into you in return, “You should. That was a good line,” he says teasingly. “I love you too, my girl.” He speaks it with a quiet, gentle cadence that suits him and the pet name well. “Lift your head. Wanna see you.”
You angle your face up to give him a view of the half that isn’t hidden by the sheets. “I’m so boring.”
“Says who?”
“Everybody, probably. All we do is watch TV and sleep.”
“Good thing I love both of those things.” He wraps an arm around you, palm to your shoulder. “And it’s not true. We went to the cafe yesterday after work. On the weekend, we’re going to the cinema. Why, do you want to do more?”
“It’s not me I’m worried about, Siri. Aren’t you bored?”
He stares at you. Long, non-judgmental looking, his dark lashes kissing in the corners as his gaze wanders down to your neck. “Is this about something else?”
“No.”
His mouth turns sympathetic, a wobbly frown. “Are you sure, lovely? You can talk to me.”
You weigh each word as you say it, determined not to embarrass yourself, “I’m worried that I don’t make your life very interesting. We don’t go out much, we don’t drink, and I never…”
You turn your face down, your forehead to his chest. Sirius hums unhappily and encourages your head back to see you again almost immediately. “You never what?” he asks.
“Never mind.”
“No, please. Tell me, Y/N. You can tell me anything, I won’t care.” He’s getting so serious about it and it’s making it even more embarrassing than before, but you don’t want him to worry. You spit it out.
“I don’t put out. We hardly ever have sex.”
“Does that upset you?” he asks.
“Well. It upsets me if it upsets you.”
“It doesn’t.” His hand cups your cheek, his forehead drops down to yours. “It doesn’t upset me. Did I make you think that?”
“You’re just so cool and I’m your loser.”
He laughs happily. “You’re my loser,” he agrees.
“The last couple of times I’ve said no. I guess I just worry you want more than I’m giving out, so. I don’t want you to wish we were having more sex, but I can’t make myself want it more.”
“I see.”
You listen to him breathing, the warmth of his exhale like a kiss all its own as it fans over your mouth.
He rubs your cheek with his thumb. “Can I tell you what I think?” You nod, and he continues, “I only want to have sex with you, that’s one of the consequences of being in love. It’s a good one. So if you don’t wanna have sex, it’s safe to say I don’t want to either. Okay? Love you just as much with or without it.”
Unlike him and not to be this tender. You bite the inside of your lip.
“Promise?” you ask.
“I promise.”

Gilded Constellations | wolfstar x reader
Series Masterlist | Previous episode
Pairing: Wolfstar x Reader Word Count: 6.9 K Warnings: None Prompt: It's finally time... the Quidditch Match. This IS a wolfstar x reader fic, but it's incredibly slow burn. They won't start all dating each other until we're very deep into the story, but I promise the long wait will be worth it.
Chapter 19: Silver Bird
When you come home, my crazy heart will greet those silver wings Your pet dog will remember you, and I'll carry your things We'll catch a runnin' make-up, and you will look just fine And you'll remain my friend, my friend until you're mine
It was finally Saturday, James had you arrive at the pitch an hour and a half before the match was going to start, so you could warm up properly. You still had thirty minutes to get there, and you were rummaging through your neverending chest to try and find the stupid blue undies you’d promised to wear.
“Is it this ones?” Mary asked, as she sat next to you.
You looked at the piece she had in her hand and you shook your head, “Those aren’t very comfortable for flying.”
She nodded and continued looking through the chest. Lily, who was looking through your dresser asked “You said cute, baby blue, matching set, right?”
“Yeah,” you responded, not looking at her yet.
“I think I’ve got them.” She said, taking the pair out and showing it to you. You beamed and got up from the floor towards her, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead “It’s perfect, thank you!” you said as you took them from her hands and went inside the bathroom.
“That was a very Sirius thing to do,” said Marlene from her bed as she laced her shoes.
Mary agreed “Sometimes they’re so alike it’s scary.”
“I don’t think so,” said Lily, with a hand on her chin. “She’s not that much like Sirius, if anything I’d say she’s more like Remus.”
“Remus? How?” Asked Beth, she had dropped by to get ready with the girls, they were all planning to use some coloured paint on their faces, along all the Gryffindor memorabilia they had gathered.
“Well, she’s responsible and caring. And she always helps everyone in the study clubs. And even if she hangs out with the boys all the time, she’s never gotten detention. Remus almost never gets detention either. They both know their way around it, somehow.”
“Well, when you say it like that…”
Finally, the door of the bathroom opened and you walked outside, your thick quidditch pants on, along with a simple shirt you were planning to wear underneath your quidditch sweater. You looked out the window, it was getting greyer and grayer “You think it’s gonna rain?” you asked.
“On the forecast, it said it wouldn’t,” said Beth, who had revised it on the papers at breakfast.
“But the current climate divintor is really bad,” complained Marlene “The other day I planned a picnic with Holden, and it said it would be sunny. We were in the middle of the way to the spot we’d found when a storm broke out, we had to use charms to stop the rain from ruining our day.”
“Better take the anti-slippery gloves then,” Beth said, as she picked out a pair from the ones you had laid out on the bed, “just in case.”
You nodded, and took them in your hands, before placing them on the small duffle bag in which you were packing the rest of your equipment. Including the Quidditch robes and anything other than the sweater and the pants. “You’ve already eaten right?” Mary asked.
“Yeah, like 2 hours ago,” you said with a nod “I wanted enough time to digest before flying.
“Brilliant idea!” she said with a smile “Last time Marlene ate last minute she was puking when the game ended.
“That’s because I got a bludger on the edge my broom and spinned around like 30 times,” she huffed, and then turned to you “Ready for your first game luv?”
“Born ready,” you said, with a little smirk.
Marlene mirrored your expression, “That’s exactly what I expected to hear.”
Once in the pitch, you spotted James and Teddy talking to each other, Davis and Gale were sitting on a bench, and you weren’t sure where Sirius was, that was until you felt someone hugged you from behind and planted a kiss on your cheek “You look stunning in those clothes Starshine,” he said as he tightened his grip around your waist.
Sirius was still hugging you when James asked everyone to gather closer to him. And he didn’t let go of you even as James spoke “This is the first match of the year, and we must give it our all! Ravenclaw has a fierce team, Holden is a brilliant seeker, Tobias and Penelope are fierce with the bludgers, they will try to hit every single one of us, and even if we have Sirius and Marlene to protect us, you need to keep an eye on the bludgers at all time. Especially you,” he said, giving you a look “They will try to throw you off your broom.”
You nodded as you took a deep breath, the seekers and the keepers always got the worst of the bludgers, you knew that already, but the seekers had a wider moving area, while as a keeper, you’d have to stay closer to the goals “I’ll have your back,” Sirius whispered in your ear as James continued his speech.
“Their chasers are good, I don’t know much of the newer kids but Adrian is fast, not as fast as you Gale, but fast regardless, keep an eye on him at all times, the further we keep their ball from our goals the better, even if we have (Y/N).”
Teddy intervened later “Just pay full attention to your surroundings at all times, we can beat them, we’ve trained enough.”
“Time for warm-up,” James said then, and had you do a couple of exercises before allowing you to go up in your brooms for a few laps around the pitch.
When you had 10 minutes left, James had you all come down to fasten all the quidditch protection equipment accordingly. He handed you a bag, with a thick brown helmet and a chest plate as well. “I forgot the keeper’s equipment was some of the less glamorous,” you said as you looked at them, he laughed.
“You know how to put it on, don’t you?”
You nodded, and dragged the items to the side, starting with the shin and knee protectors and slowly moving your way up to the chest.
Sirius, who had a lot less things to put on, was done before you and he walked closer to you “Need help?”
“I’m good,” you said as you continued fastening your arm protections. When you put on the breast protector, you started struggling with the fastening, and Sirius closed the gap between the two of you.
“Let me,” he said, his hands over yours, fastening the sides of the thing with ease “It’s that too tight?”
You shook your head, still grasping the fact that you weren’t alone anymore, that you could depend on him, on your new friends. You grabbed the helmet and turned to him “How do I look now?” you asked with a teasing smile, the helmet still held between your hands.
Sirius smirked before he answered “Ravishing.”
You laughed, tilting your head back as you let yourself completely indulge in the fun. Sirius was looking at you adoringly as you tittered, at the way your eyes would crinkle and your smile grew wide. He stared, shamelessly, until he heard someone calling for you from the side, he placed his hand over your shoulder and nodded to their way. You were still smiling when you turned to look at the direction Sirius was pointing at, it was Nina and Sybil.
“Hey, girls!” You said as you approached them happily, almost skipping towards them, Nina had a Gryffindor scarf on and Sybil was holding a pair of red and yellow flags in her hands “You’ll get jinxed by your house members,” you told them motioning to the Gryffindor memorabilia they had on.
“We’re not really close to the players,” Sbybil said with a shrug, of course she wouldn’t care.
“But we do know you.” Nina said with a smile “We brought you something,” she added before bringing her hand inside the messenger bag she had hung across her shoulder and taking out a blue ribbon. Something blue.
“For me?” You asked with a small smile.
“So you remember not all Ravenclaws are against you today,” Nina said. “Sybil says it’s for good luck too.”
“It is,” Sybil confirmed. “Why do you think ladies used to tie something on the lances of the men they liked before a joust? If a person who really cares about you gives it to you, it will be infused with a special kind of magic.”
“Well then, you may tie it wherever you want,” You said with a smile, walking a little closer to the girls, Nina was the one to attach it, lacing it through the thinner side of the chest protection you had on, carefully tying it into a neat little bow.
“I feel like I should say something…” she said with a little smile, you nodded, prompting her to speak “Oh fair lady,” she stated, in a very theatrical tone, even faking a strong Scottish accent “May this token of…”
“–Of affection,” offered Sybil.
“Of affection?” Nina asked with a frown, turning back to her natural voice. Sybil nodded fervently and Nina shrugged, clearing her throat before continuing “May this token of our… devoted affection… deliver you from all evil and take you to victory…” She turned to Sybil, who gave her a thumbs up, and finally, she pulled her hands from your chestplate, a little blush showing on her face.
You smiled, and leaned a little, “Thank you, my lady,” you said in the tone a true knight would, and then looked up at the two girls with a cheeky grin, still mid bow.
You got a soft punch from Nina on the arm “Don’t make it even sillier.”
“I’m not being silly!” you said in between laughs “I’m truly happy you came to support me today.”
Sirius finally came over and placed an arm over your shoulder, bringing you a little closer to him “Can you believe our little Starshine just got a lady’s favour?” He asked James, who was just a couple of metres behind “When have we ever gotten one of those? And from a pair of Ravenclaws nonetheless.”
“It’s for good luck,” Nina said reproachfully. “It’s her first match, don’t tease her so much about it.”
“It’s all right Nina,” you said with a cheeky little smile “Sirius is just jealous.”
He pouted, “Can’t I get a cute ribbon too?”
“Has to be given by someone who really cares about you,” Nina said casually.
“Auch,” Sirius said dramatically.
Nina opened her eyes wide “I didn’t mean that I didn’t ca…”
“He’s just teasing you luv,” you said reassuringly. “Here, lean a little closer,” you told Sirius, when he did, you placed a soft kiss on the corner of his lips. “How’s that for your lady’s favour?” you asked with a teasing grin. Nina averted her gaze from the two of you and Sybil gave her a sympathetic glance.
“Hm… Not sure,” Sirius responded “Might need it to be a little longer, for good measure, you know?”
Finally, Sybil cleared her throat “We’ll go find a good place to sit,” she said with a smile.
“Good luck!” Nina told you with a tight smile before turning to go.
You walked out of Sirius’ grasp and towards her and Sybil “Girls wait!” you said as you grabbed onto Nina’s shoulder “Thank you,” you said earnestly, “for everything.”
Nina smiled, seeing as how you had run to catch her “It’s nothing, really. We wanted to be here.”
“Yeah,” Sybil said, “You do your magic, we’ll be here, rooting for you.”
You smiled at the two of them one last time and they took off towards the bleachers. “Ready for the match?” Remus’ soft voice came from behind, startling you in a good way.
You turned to him and nodded “James had us warm up and even gave us a team spirit speech. It was inspiring.”
Remus caught the slight sarcasm in your tone and chuckled “You’ll be wearing that?” he asked as he motioned to your helmet still in your hand.
You nodded “Keepers are one of the main targets of the bludgers. James wouldn’t let me play without it. Merlin forbid something happens to one of his players,” he chuckled again, leaning down just a little to take the helmet from your hands and place it over your head “What are you doing?”
“Making sure James’ little star-keeper is as safe as she should,” He said casually as he fastened the straps under your chin.
“I was waiting until the very last minute to put it on…”
“Why? You get too hot with it?”
“Not at all, I just think I look like an egg,” you said with a pout.
Remus stepped back just a little, too look at you better “Well, I think you look cute.”
You laughed, and hit him on the shoulder playfully “Sure thing Rem,” you said dismissively, then you heard the blow of the whistle. “Game’s calling,” you said with a dashing smile before walking back to the pitch, Remus stared at your receding figure as you walked towards the pitch.
As you gathered around everyone you managed to see the rest of your friends walking over the bleachers to find a seat. Tom was wearing face paint, just like the rest of the girls, a few stripes of red and gold painted across their cheek. Lily had a banner in her hand that had a fierce-looking lion roaring, and it had written down the names of all the members of the team. Some other people in the crowd had reused the memorabilia from the race, so you even saw a couple of people wearing some of the pins with your faces on them.
Another blow to the whistle and you were walking alongside James to the centre of the pitch. “Captains, step forward!” Said a young Professor you hadn’t met before, but that you’d seen around meals, he must be the flying instructor, you thought. Both James and Lionel did as told, he turned to Lionel “Ready?”
“Ready!”
He turned to James and the boy responded “Ready!”
The teacher nodded, and then gave you a look “Keepers, positions,” he said. Both you and Lionel mounted your brooms and flew toward your places. The wind howled in your ears as you hovered in front of the goals. It was a cold day, and you were thankful you had so much protection gear on since it was enough to keep you a little warm, at least until the action started.
You saw the Professor release the snitch, you could see it glistening with the bit of sun that the clouds allowed to pass through, it circled around James and Holden, taunting them before disappearing into the air. Everyone mounted their brooms. The crowd cheered as the game was just about to start. The atmosphere felt electric and thrilling, the wind pushing you towards your hoops as you steadied your broom to maintain your position.
The Chasers jockeyed for position, determined to outmanoeuvre each other and score those crucial goals. Gale, Davis and Teddy were already in the position they had planned, and the three of them kept their sights on the quaffle that the Professor still held in between his hands. Sirius was flying close to James, while Marlene was flying just above you, ready to stop any bludgers coming your way, as James had instructed.
Marlene tightened her grip on her bat, and with another blow of the whistle the game finally began, the Quaffle soaring into the air in an instant. Gale flew straight to it, managing to size it in the air, and flew straight towards the other team’s goal. But after Sirius hit the bludger towards Lionel, Penelope Linwood, the other team’s beater, shot it straight at Gale, who had to pass the quaffle to Davis to out-manoeuvre the bludger that wouldn’t stop following him.
Davis took the ball and went for a shot, but Lionel managed to catch it just before it went inside the goal hoop to his left. The ball was with the other team, your heart pounded in your ears as adrenaline rushed through your body, you knew the quaffle could be thrown your way any minute now, so whatever you did, you had to focus. You felt the wind blowing even stronger, your broom moving with it a little more than you’d expect it to.
Sirius managed to catch up with Davis and batted the bludger away from him, launching straight towards the chasers of the other team, disrupting their formation and buying you some time. The way they were flying, one against the other, they were probably planning to corner you in between the three of them. One of them, a boy with short red hair, who flew like a lightning bolt to avoid Sirius’ bludger –and who you assumed was Adrian– was dogging absolutely everything and everyone as he flew straight at you.
You smiled confidently when you saw him throw a short glance at one of his chasers, a small girl with neat braids through her entire head. It was Cynthia, you realised, from one of your classes. They were going to faint. So even as you kept your head in Adrian’s direction, you made sure to keep Cynthia in your line of sight at all times. You saw the other bludger be beaten in your direction.
“Focus on your thing!” Marlene shouted, flying straight towards the bludger and batting it fiercely to Adrian, but he managed to dodge the ball and it started following the other chaser instead. The redhead was already reaching the zone, his move would be any second now. He smiled, pretending to throw the ball to the left hoop before throwing it straight to Cynthia. That had been a sick faint, but you had seen it coming, so you didn’t even bother going to the left and instead went straight to the direction Cynthia had thrown the ball, efficiently getting it in between your hands before it even got close to the goals. The audience cheered as you flew a little higher, trying to find Anne Davis. If she got the ball now, you were sure she’d get it across the field and through Lionel.
Once you spotted her, you plunged down and launched the ball at her when she was just a couple of metres away, continuing your way down before doing a sharp turn and going back to your goals. When the ball was in her hands she started dogging the bludgers, that seemed like they were only following her until Marlene flew straight towards one of them and threw it to Lionel.
Davis had to shoot the ball to Teddy for a second but he threw it straight back at her and she launched it toward the goal, Lionel wasn’t fast enough to stop it, and it went straight through. The crowd erupted in cheers. Anne was grinning as she went back to position. As everyone cheered you felt a strong jolt in your broom. You frowned and looked down, studying the broom as you steadied it. You squint your eyes when you feel it again, a lot weaker this time. You turned to the bleachers then, narrowing your eyes in case you spotted someone. The jolt had felt exactly like the one that had thrown you and Sirius off your brooms a couple of weeks ago. You took a deep breath and tightened your grip around your broom. I’m not falling today, you thought before turning your eyes back to the quaffle.
The jolts didn’t come back, as if the person trying to throw you off the broom had given up on them completely, but your grip on the broom did not loosen at all, you had to keep your ward up, at all times now. The quaffle was now in Cynthia's hand, and she had thrown it to a strong-looking boy with a blonde fringe, their last chaser. He came straight to you, looking imposing since he was a lot bigger, perhaps as tall as Remus, but with a wider back, which made him look threatening.
Thank Merlin he’s not a beater, you thought. He came straight onto you, paying no mind to the bludger following closely behind him. You did not keep your eyes away from him until you felt a light hitting straight onto your eyes, blinding you from how bright it was. The blond boy did his shot and you weren’t fast enough, it went right through your right goal, there were cheers from the Ravenclaws, and groans from the Gryffindors.
You went to get the ball and threw it straight at Teddy, who moved further away with it. And you took the time to look around the bleachers, trying to figure out what the hell had blinded you when the light hit you again. You placed your left hand over your eye only to realise a very small dot of light reflecting on it, moving frantically trying to find your eyes again. “A mirror,” you whispered to yourself, “They’re trying to use a bloody mirror.” You then remembered you had Sirius’ goggles, and placed them over your eyes, hoping the sun protection spell they had on them was enough. They were indeed! Just reflective enough to bounce the light off your eyes. You smiled, whoever was trying to sabotage you, and you had a pretty damn good idea who it might have been, would have a bloody hard time doing so.
Finally managing to focus on the game again, you noticed Sirius throw a hard shot towards the blonde boy, managing to hit just on the back of his broom and having him spinning out for a good minute before he managed to get back control.
“Brilliant Black!” you shouted from your spot, not so far away from him. He gave you a little wink, boasting for a good second before ducking as one of the other team’s beaters had thrown the bludger straight back at him. That made you chuckle just a bit, before you saw the same blond boy, doing a daring dive towards you and your goals. This time, when he shot, you managed to stop the quaffle with ease, even if the strength of the hit had you pull back just a little, the impact reverberating through your body as you held on tight. You heard the Gryffindor supporters erupting into cheers, and you felt the same euphoric feeling you felt when you caught a snitch and ended a game back in your old school. With a graceful smile towards them, you sent the quaffle hurtling back into the game.
But Cynthia Abbot intercepted your throw and launched the ball straight onto your goals again. You threw yourself towards the quaffle again, but realising your hand wouldn’t be long enough to stop it, you did a sharp turn and used the back of your broom to bat the ball away from the hoops, accidentally sending it straight towards James’ head, who wasn’t looking. “Prongs! Watch out–“ you tried to warn him but it bounced off his head and Davis managed to size it, diving straight towards Lionel and the Ravenclaw post.
You flew closer to James, still keeping an eye on the quaffle as you did “You ok?” you asked preoccupied “I didn’t mean to–“
“-That was a brilliant save!” He said, turning to you with a smile, “Hurt a little though.”
You winced when you realised the boy was rubbing the back of his head, “Sorry…”
“I’m good, you keep up that amazing work going, don’t worry about me, all right?”
“Suddenly you saw a gold shine pass right in front of your eyes, and you followed it with a short gaze, before turning back to James “Did you see th–“ You didn’t even finish, you knew the answer when you spotted James’ wide grin and his hazel pupils following the snitch with precise movement, “Go get her tiger!” You said as he started flying in its direction.
“Back to your goals,” he said with a smile before flying off towards the snitch. You smiled as you saw him chase behind it, and flew back to your place, the Quaffle was still on your team’s hands, so you were relatively relaxed as you kept your eyes on James, who darted through the air, waving and looping through the players, dodging bludgers and following the snitch’s every move. Holden wasn’t too far behind him, but Marlene and Sirius were making sure he had many flying bludgers to dodge, both also protecting James, so he could reach for the snitch. You admired the way Marlene threw the iron balls at her boyfriend as if he was just some random seeker she had to throw off her broom.
Suddenly the ball was back with the chasers of the other team, Adrian darting towards you while one of the beaters from the other team batted a bludger straight to your face. You knew exactly what you had to do, James hadn’t had you practise handstands and pull-ups so much for nothing, so you went straight for it. Holding yourself up to allow the bludger to pass through as you hit the bludger with your leg, flipping yourself back into your broom with a sharp turn. The crowd cheered again, many had heard of the movement, but they hadn’t seen it, but that wasn’t the end, you dived straight down to catch the quaffle and flew straight towards Gale, passing it on his hands in a quick manoeuvre before flying back to the goals.
Gale, in turn, went straight to Lionel and shot, earning another 10 points for Gryffindor, which had the crowd of Gryffindor supporters standing on their feet as they cheered on for Gale, even you joined them, screaming “Thomas! Thomas! Thomas!” with one of your arms extended out in a triumphant first. He turned to you with a little smile, it was his first goal since he joined the team, he must have been feeling ecstatic, as much as you were whenever you stopped one of the Ravenclaw’s advances.
Time seemed to blur as the match continued, each passing second a testament to your teamwork and determination. The score remained close, both your team and the Ravenclaw had a hard time scoring. Aldrige had been a keeper since 4th grade, so it wasn’t surprising he was such a brilliant player. Which is why you felt a little triumphant at the fact you had stopped more of the balls shot your way than he had. Even if the blonde keeper had probably hurt your left index finger from how hard they had shot the ball one time. You had only cursed under your breath and shot the ball back to Teddy.
Sirius had seen it, and flew your way “You alright luv?” he asked, a little frown on his face.
“Sirius!” you screamed “Behind you.” The boy turned around sharply and barely managed to bat the bludger away from his face “Focus on your bludgers, not on me!” you told him sharply.
He gave you one last look before nodding and flying towards the bludgers. You took a deep breath, yes, it was nice to see him so worried for you, but he could’ve gotten hurt had you not been keeping an eye around you and drowned yourself in the stupid blue of his eyes, which wasn’t hard with the way he had stared at you. James was right, it was better to keep Marlene as your main defender instead.
Cynthia orchestrated a swift series of passes, bringing her team within striking distance of Gryffindor's goalposts. Your heart raced as you braced yourself for the impending shot, a deep breath as you focused your gaze on the ball and their faces, attempting to decipher exactly what it was they were going to do. And then she shot, sending the quaffle towards the hoop that was the farthest from your reach. You lunged yourself towards it, your fingertips barely grazing the smooth surface of the ball. You heard the crowd gasp, and then erupt in cheers as the ball ricocheted off your fingers and veered off course, missing the hoop by inches. When you realised you had managed to stop it, you were breathing heavily, and gripping onto your broom again, a lot tighter than you thought you were. Realising only after that you had almost fallen off your broom when you veered the quaffle odd course.
The final minutes of the match were a whirlwind of adrenaline and emotion. The Seekers soared, the Chasers battled, and the Beaters continued their relentless bludger assault. Every save, every pass, every point earned or lost had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
Marlene was hovering close to you as Sirius struggled to keep the bludgers away from James, and as soon as the quaffle was in your team’s hands, you flew closer to her “Go help Sirius!” you shouted.
“But I’m supposed to defend you!” she argued.
“Leave it, I can dodge, just make sure Prong’s fine so he can get the snitch!”
Marlene looked at you apprehensively, as if she was deciding whether it was a good or a bad idea “Trust me, Mars, I can handle them. They’re all over Potter anyway!”
She took one last glance at you and dove straight to James and Sirius, beating the bludger they had off course and towards Lionel. He managed to dodge by a millisecond and looked shocked when he realised he too had been left alone in the goals. The four beaters were all over the seekers, defending their own house and trying to throw the opponent off his broom.
The redhead chaser came at you again, the quaffle in his hand, one last attempt to score. He was thrilled when he figured Mars was gone and he placed his hand on his mouth, whistling effortlessly, one of the Ravenclaw beaters turned around and batted the bludger straight at you. At the same time, Adrian threw the quaffle in the same direction.
You tried to look at the score, but you were still way below the safe line. If Holden got the snitch, which you hoped wouldn’t happen, your team would lose. So you didn’t move, ready to take the hit of both the bludger and the quaffle at the same time. And you did, catching the quaffle first and using it as a shield to loosen the punch of the bludger, but the blow had been heavy, and even as you tried to stop it, the bludger’s momentum caused the quaffle to sink into your gut with such force that it not only took your breath away but pushed you back a few feet as well. You heard a choir of “Ooos” and “Ouches” from the audience, and you coughed a couple of times, using the same quaffle to throw the bludger towards the other side.
Sirius turned to you, a worried look on his face, James had been too focused on the snitch to notice. But he had the other two beaters on him. “Focus on Potter!” you shouted, however you could, and he hesitantly turned back to James. You were sure it was going to bruise, it had been a harder hit than Barty’s, probably because it had been a bludger the one that pushed the quaffle into your stomach. Panting, you turned around and spotted Teddy just a couple of metres away, an expression of awe on his face, evidently impressed by your display of determination and slightly stupid bravery. You gave him a half smile before throwing the quaffle his way, “Let’s get another 10 points shall we?”
Teddy smiled at you and nodded, catching the quaffle and diving straight to the other side of the field, Gale and Anne easily following behind him and creating a formation, they were going to use one of the plays, and since the other team’s beaters were focused on James, they had the upper hand. A couple of passes and they managed to score.
Then there were cheers from all the Gryffindor supporters, but it wasn’t because of the points they’d just gotten, in fact, high above, at about the same time, James had lunged forwards and wrapped his fingers around the snitch. The game was over, the Gryffindor cheers were so loud, that they made you smile even if you still felt like you wanted to puke, from the stinging pain of the hit.
As you soaked in the cheers of the crowd, you knew that this victory was more than just a game; it was prove of how strong the Gryffindor team was now, how, even if you had so many new members, including yourself, the constant training and early mornings had been of good use. You smiled brightly as you finally managed to land back on the ground, heart still panting as you used your broom to hold yourself up.
Everyone was cheering, you saw the entire team wrap around James, and bring him up in the air as he held the snitch, the crowds still cheering in the background. You finally stood up, smiling as you tried to forget the sharp pain on your stomach and ran towards them, to cheer on. Sirius was the first one to approach you, placing his hands on the sides of your face and scanning it carefully.
“Are you ok?” He asked with a frown.
“Yeah, totally,” you lied with a half smile, but he saw straight through you and pulled you into a hug.
“Please don’t do that again, I wanted to drop the bat and go see what the hell had happened to you because of the way everyone gasped.”
“You didn’t see it?” You asked, pulling back to look straight into his eyes.
He shook his head “When I turned to you, you had the quaffle in your hands and were screaming at me to get behind Prongs again.”
You nodded, “It was just a hard blow, I’m sure people were just being dramatic–“
“–What the hell (Y/N)!” James interrupted. Shit, he knows. “You’re supposed to avoid the Bludgers, not get in their way!”
“Whoever told you, I’m sure they were exaggerating.”
“Lionel Aldrige came over to tell me I had the bravest keeper he’d ever met, that he’d never seen anyone try to stop the goddamned bludger with a quaffle! And that he wasn’t even sure he’d be able to do it himself!” James pretty much shouted.
“Is that what you did?!” Sirius asked, raising his voice at you as well.
“I had to– I had to stop the quaffle somehow.”
“We could afford to lose ten points!”
You shook your head “Not if you hadn’t caught the snitch, we weren’t 160 above them yet!”
“There was no way in hell you had the strength to stop the quaffle with your arms, that’s why we use bats!” Sirius argued then.
“Where the hell was Marlene anyway?” James chimed, pinching his nose.
“Covering for you, I told her to go, you had the beaters all over you, I was free.”
James stared at you in disbelief, “For how long?”
“The beater actually shot from where he was, still trailing behind you, the deacceleration from–“
“What deacceleration? It’s literally an iron ball!” James said, interrupting you again, he was clearly riled up.
“It was reckless!” Sirius said then.
“You can’t do it again!” James added.
“What if it’s all it takes to win a game?”
“I’d rather lose a game than lose a friend!”
You huffed, biting your cheek to avoid saying the retort that came to our mind, how James was being overly dramatic. But it would be useless, it wouldn’t change their minds. “Fine, but let’s just leave this subject behind, we should be celebrating not–“
“Are you ok?” You heard Remus ask from behind “The way the bludger pushed you back almost all the way into the hoops I–“
You sighed, just when you’d gotten James and Sirius off your back, “I’m fine! I’m not some delicate flower that can’t stand the hit of a bludger in the gut!”
“You think we’re worried because you’re a girl?” Remus asked, quick to catch on to why you were being so stubborn about it.
“Is that not it?”
“No, you dumbass! I’d be just as worried if Sirius had gotten hit by a bludger in the gut!”
“You would?” Sirius teased, “That’s so sweet of you Moons.”
You laughed at Sirius’ silly answer, “Fine, maybe it was a dumb thing to–“
“–it was,” Sirius interrupted, emphasising the “was”.
“Whatever, it won’t happen again, case closed, let’s go to the party.”
“Wouldn’t you like to see Madam Pomrey first?” Remus asked.
You shot him a look and walked towards the rest of the team, they were still cheering and celebrating along with their friends.
“She’s so goddamned hot-headed!” Sirius huffed as he stood next to the boys, watching you walk towards Marlene and Lily. You’d probably get a scold from them as well.
“Reminds me of you,” Remus added, looking at Sirius from the side.
Back in the common room, there was music and drinks and somehow even snacks for everyone as they cheered on. When Peter started talking about the things you’d done again, he and Tom had started a motion for you to be carried into the air for a couple of seconds, everyone agreed and you ended up in the air, being shoved up and down a couple of times before they finally let you down. They thought of you as a hero, and you felt like a rockstar. It was something you weren’t used to, but being cheered on by so many people was undoubtedly nice. Even if at some point you had to step away from the crowd and onto a quieter area of the common room, sitting down on the sofa and feeling the pain kick in as the adrenaline started to fade away.
Sirius was next to you a couple of minutes later, placing his arm over your shoulder and dragging you closer to him “With the whole bludger incident, I think I forgot to tell you how freaking amazing you were today on the game,” he said, mouth close to your ear as he spoke, “You barely allowed the Ravenclaws to get any points.”
You leaned into him too, allowing yourself to bask in the warmth he emitted, “You were brilliant too Puppy! No one got hit by bludgers on your watch.”
He turned to you, placing his hand on your waist, but you winced, and he looked at you with a shrug “Does it still hurt?”
You shook your head, not daring to open your mouth, and leaned in to kiss him instead. If it worked to distract him in the restricted section, I’d work to distract him now. But Sirius was hungry today, the adrenaline of the game and the fact that you looked so fucking good in those quidditch pants, had him feeling all sorts of things, so when he kissed back, you could feel the neediness on the kiss.
And he, oblivious to your pain, dug his hands under your sweater and tightened his grip around your waist, pressing his fingers to your warm skin. That had you wince again and he separated from you, his hand still under your shirt.
“It still hurts!” he said accusingly.
“Sirius, I’m fine,” you said, attempting to drag him back into the kiss, but he shook you off.
“I’m gonna lift your sweater, kay?”
“No, I’m–“ He did it anyway, only a little at first, but then a lot more when he realised.
“Sweetheart, look at this!” he said reproachfully. You looked down, wincing as you saw the various shades of purple and green your stomach had gotten.
“I guess that’s why it hurts…” you muttered, with a little smile, trying to lighten the mood. Sirius just looked at you sternly. “Fine then, just don’t touch that area and then–“
“We’re going to Poppy.”
“But the celebration party.”
“Look at me straight in the eyes and tell me it doesn’t hurt.” You took a deep breath, looking at him and then averting his gaze, “Thought so.”
“I still wanted to make out,” you mumbled under your breath as you let him guide you toward the portrait, his hand neatly wrapped around yours.
“We can make out all you want once Poppy has checked up on you,” he told you, turning back to give you a small wink.
“Where you up to?” you heard Remus’ deep voice from the side.
“Sirius insists on taking me to the infirmary.”
“She has a terrible bruise all over her stomach,” Sirius added what you’d left out.
How did he find out? Remus wondered until it dawned on him. Right, they’re dating.
“It’s not that bad,” you tried to argue, but Sirius threw you another look.
“Mind if I tag along?” He said walking beside the two of you “I need to restock some of my medicine.”
Full moon must be soon, you thought “You don’t even have to ask Rem,” you said as you nodded for him to come along.

"i saw you," sirius said lowly, smirking, "you two think you're so sly but i see everything."
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"sure, you don't," he remarked with a roll of his eyes, "you never know what i'm talking about, not when i told you that your crush on remus was obvious, not when i tell you that remus fancies you back and definitely not when i saw —with my very own two eyes— you kissing."
"just be careful doll, i've been there before," he told her softly, making her glance at him. "you've been there before?" she repeated testingly, not understanding what sirius meant. "i was once remus when i was younger."
"where should we go next?" peter asked excitedly, holding onto the teddy sirius had won for him for dear life.
it was a hogsmeade weekend, the marauders had decided that it was a bright idea to sneak off to an amusement park. the sun was setting, a pretty mix of pink and blues with hint of gold within it. they stood in the middle of the park, pulling at their coat tightly to keep themselves warm whilst james suffered in a corner.
"definitely not the roller coaster again," said lily wearily, eyeing james from where she stood as he hunched over a garbage can with remus and sirius to his side. "anything but the roller coaster again."
"i'm pretty sure they're done with it," she said kindly, watching as remus rubbed james' back in a soothing manner, "we've been on it four times now, i don't think they'd like to go on it for any longer."
"hopefully, you're right," lily muttered under her breath as the group of boys returned.
james looked up, smiling charmingly. "what's next?"
"i wanted to go on the ferris wheel," said sirius off-handedly, his hands digging into his pocket to keep itself away from the cold, "the sunset's nice."
"okay," lily agreed; nodding her head as she approached james' side, lily looped her arm around his and began leading the way when she realized that two of their friends were missing. turning around, lily spotted the pair conversing between themselves. "guys?"
"yes?" remus looked up, finally noticing that their friends were ten steps away and blushed. "sorry."
lily only smiled, giving him a pointed look and glanced down slightly. "is she cold?"
"very," she answered, voice muffled as her head was pressed against remus' torso, holding onto him tightly. "remus is very warm."
"of course, he is. the man's a human furnace," sirius said, almost frowning, "now, c'mon i want to see prongs throw up again."
"that's disgusting," she whispered just loud enough for remus to hear, moving her head slightly to look up at him.
"it's pads, what'd you expect?" he asked in return, smiling fondly at her.
she scrunched her nose in disgust, accidentally picturing james going through hell once more at sirius expense. "less suffering for the man who's already legally blind?"
remus laughed at that, making sirius groan even more. "would you stop flirting please?" sirius whined dramatically, "seriously princess, are we going to get an apology here?"
pulling away from remus completely, she stood besides him and assessed their friends.
"sorry, i made you wait because i was cold," she started slowly, feeling as though she was a kid waking up her parents to tell them she'd done something bad. sirius tutted, pulling out his wand and casted a warming charm on her. "can we go ride the ferris wheel now?"
"of course, we can," sirius said brightly, all signs of his previous sour mood disappearing.
sirius led the way this time, bantering with lily as remus and [name] walked slightly behind. shoulders brushing against one another as they listened into their friends arguing.
somewhere between where they started to the waiting line, remus had managed to slip his hand into her's intertwining them together.
she looked up at him, surprised —not to mention, extremely flustered, and smiled. an action that remus reciprocated along with a comforting squeeze of her hand.
james, lily, sirius, and peter took a car of their own. insisting that remus was too tall (as if it made any sense) to fit into their carriage so it would be better to have her accompany him as to not have him be lonely. all four completely oblivious to just how obvious their match making attempt was.
"this is nice," remus commented absentmindedly, looking over his shoulder, "it's so pretty up here."
"it is," she concurred, eyes kept on remus. tinge of pink and blue with the slightest hint of purple, painted his face, green eyes shining brightly. "they're taking pictures of us."
remus turned abruptly, concern written all over his face, "what?"
"them." she pointed upwards, remus eyed her direction and found their friends in the other car grinning and waving at them.
lily had her polaroid camera in her hand, it pointing at them. she gestured her over, shouting about how she couldn't fit her into the frame unless she sat besides remus. she followed her request, moving to sit by his side and looked up at them.
their was a flash, lily took the first polaroid out and handed it to james who was besides her. "smile!" she shouted before adding, "move closer, [name]! you're too far away!"
again, she did what she was told, scooting over and rested her head on remus' shoulder, smiling up at lily. remus laid his head on top of hers, beaming at the camera as well. lily counted from three and the flash went, sitting back down when she was satisfied with its result.
remus hand found hers once more, holding onto it firmly. "i think i might fall asleep."
"go ahead," she said lightly, "i've been working on my levitation spell, i can get you back to hogwarts safely."
remus lifted his head up so he could look at her properly. "as much as i am honored to the first person you murder, i'm really not looking forward to dying so soon."
she moved away from his shoulder, gaping at him with mock offense. "you underestimate me, mister lupin."
"and i've always been correct with my underestimations."
"that's not a kind way to talk to your best friend."
"actually i can talk to my best friend however i want," he said matter-of-factly, "that's kind of the point of being best friends with someone, being able to act however you want."
"you know what," she said, scooting away from him, "i don't want to be near you anymore."
"is that so?" he taunted, pulling at her hand.
"it is."
"i don't believe you." he leaned forward, pushing at her buttons. the full moon was near, which meant remus' senses had been heightened, making the both of them fully aware of just how fast her heart was beating. "i really don't believe you."
within seconds his lips are on hers, closing the gap between him and her without any hesitation. the line of whether their relationship was platonic or romantic, now crossed. remus tilted his head, leaning down to help her from straining her neck. the kiss was innocent, pulling to a stop when they were ushered out of their car by their friends.
remus cheeks were red when he left the carriage, blaming it on the cold wind. james had swept remus into a conversation about the prosperity of churros when remus took her hand again, holding onto it as he amused james with questions.
sirius was walking besides her, hands tuck in his leather jacket. he nudged her lightly —an action that almost knocked her off of her feet if it weren't for remus catching her. remus scolded sirius quickly before turning to check on her, after being satisfied with her answer he turned back to james.
"sirius, you're seventeen stop talking like you're in your eighties," she said exasperatedly, "and i'm really confuse right now. what the fuck do you mean you were once remus, were you once tall and cute or something?"
sirius made a face, one of offense and irritation with the slightest tint of hurt. "are you calling me short and ugly? you wound me, sweetheart."
"i'm not calling you short, sirius. it's just that i don't have the crippling fear that you would suddenly lick my head when i'm near you."
"tall people don't do that," sirius frowned, "do they?
"i wouldn't know," she shrugged.
"anyways." sirius dragged out, moving back to the topic at hand. "what i'm trying to say is that i've put someone in the same situation as you and moony right now. it doesn't end well, [name]."
"it's really confusing —and if i'm being completely honest here, i feel guilty for everything that happened," he confessed quietly, "i made it complicated. when it could've been so easy.
"so . . ." sirius trailed off, watching her with patient grey eyes, "talk to him. make sure you know where the two of you stand before everything goes wrong."
sirius gave her one last reassuring smile before he tuned into their friends discussion on churros. remus let out a laugh at one of james' comment, a pretty smile on his lips that may or may not have pulled at her heart string.
fuck remus, where did she stand?
•••
sirius was laying on the couch, james sitting on the floor besides him along with peter while remus sat on the armchair when lily and her found them in the gryffindor's common room. there was a girl, hunched over the coffee table, a small notebook in hand talking to james and sirius as she wrote down whatever she found important.
she must've felt her presence, looking up at them with a small smile. "dorcas, we had care of magical creatures together in third year."
she replied with her name, smiling as well. "what were you three talking about?"
"a project," she said enthusiastically.
lily sat down besides james, and patted the empty spot to her left for her to take. she was about to take a seat beside lily when something tugged at her hand, she turned, following the direction of her distraction and found remus smiling at her, his hand holding onto hers.
"sit with me." she was hesitant, not knowing where she was supposed to go when the chair was so small. remus must've noticed, pulling her directly into his lap and wrapped an arm around her waist, securing her in her spot.
dorcas didn't even bat an eyelash when she continued on, "would you like to hear about it?"
"sure."
dorcas began her explanation with a clap of her hands. "so i've been reading a new romance novel and in it there's this muggle newspapers thing where people can mail something they wanted to say to someone they loved or cared for, whether romantically or platonically, it was called the W.L.U segment —standing for words left unsaid."
"i thought it was cool so i asked dumbledore if i could somehow pull an event together and he said no but i'm known to be quite annoying so i used that to my advantage and eventually he agreed."
"so." she clapped her hands together. "on march, thirteen, the fifth floor corridor will be plastered by sticky notes with hand written words on them for each person that is submitted to. it is by first name only and there would be a spell to prevent you from actually recognizing who's ever hand writing it is, so everything will be anonymous."
she had many questions, unsure how everything will work out like dorcas planned it out to. there was thousands of students at hogwarts, how can she fit them all in the corridors (even if the name were to overlap), how will the letters be submitted if it was anonymous, and most importantly —how will filch's cat resist the urge to claw off all the notes?
instead she settled on asking, "march thirteen?"
"it's when my dad first met my mother," she said with small smile, "under a clementine tree."
"can everyone just submit anonymously?" peter asked, intrigued.
"that's pretty much the whole idea, no one would know who said what. we're giving out special notes that would magick itself out of your life the second you've finished writing and it would be added to the wall. the notes will be owled out to everyone, because if you saw someone trying to get the notes you'll be suspicious of them, ya know?"
and then she added, "the identities would be unknown unless you sign it off with your full name, or initials for whoever it is you wrote it to, to guess. it's up to you really, if you want your identity to be known then you make it known."
"are you sure it will stay anonymous?" he followed up skeptically.
"cross my heart. not even the ones preparing this project would know."
•••
march came fast, so did remus' birthday —an event that had left her more confuse then she was before hand. the marauders had threw him a surprise party, one she attended in high spirits.
around midnight, marlene had dragged her into a circle where their friends was waiting for her. "we're playing truth or dare," she had told her.
the first few rounds was fun for the most part, her having done stupid dares that had spilled out of peter's drunken lips (the gryffindor is the funniest when he's absolutely wasted).
remus' birthday cake sat in the center of the circle, everyone enjoying their slices while they played the game. remus picked dare for the third time, keeping up with the courageous gryffindor spirit.
dorcas perked up at this, getting her word in before anyone else could. "i dare you to kiss the person you find most beautiful in this room."
sirius had pouted his lips out for him only to be blatantly ignored by remus. the room was —more or less— unphased when remus had made his way over to [name], cupping her face and kissed her.
soft and quick.
when he pulled away, he made his way back to his seat and acted like nothing had happened.
dorcas nudged her from her right, giggling slightly as she spoke, "i knew he would kiss you."
then the question she tried so desperately to forget resurfaces. what were they? where did she stand?
the next day comes and dumbledore introduced the project at dinner, letting dorcas up on the podium which she spoke at proudly, informing everyone of her plans and answering any questions they had.
the notes arrived the next morning, students walked around chatting about who they planned to write to and by dinner time half of the castle had written and sent off their first notes.
march, thirteen came and she was rudely awakened by dorcas and sirius pounding at her door, announcing that the project has been opened for viewing and that they needed to see it as soon as possible.
she quickly got dressed and followed them into the common room. stood by the entrance was the rest of their friend group, all looking tired out of their mind.
james led the way towards the fifth floor, the corridors walls littered with notes, all belonging to a group of names in alphabetical order.
their group went through the names one by one, being nosy when there seemed to be some sort of drama in the mysterious notes. some of the notes were on the sweet side, some malicious.
james was a common name but they were —luckily enough— able to identify which one was their james based off of how some referred him as 'the quidditch king' or 'james, potter, james potter' or the last (and definitely sirius' favorite way of identifying james out of them all) was 'james, the four eyed one.'
there was various love confessions, some cussing him for not giving them a position on the gryffindor's quidditch team, and some compliments about how much they wanted to run their hands through his beautiful, beautiful hair.
"you smell." sirius read out loud, ignoring the tiny :) that was drawn on the note to laugh at james' face. "i think that's for you, prongs."
"shut up, pads. you smell like wet dog."
then was the letter R standing tall above the name remus. on the wall stuck countless amount of notes, all confessing just how pretty they thought remus was. his pretty eyes, his pretty nose, his pretty lips and how much they wanted to kiss it and his stupidly pretty hands.
"good god moony, what spell have you put hogwarts under," james said slightly horrified, his eyes gluing to each notes that stuck under the name remus, "what have you done?"
"i haven't done anything," remus replied, his tone defensive, "and we can't be sure this is about me, i'm not the only person named remus."
"yeah but you're the only person in this school with that name." dorcas pointed out, just as fascinated as the rest of them with the amount of letters he received.
something caught her attention, making her take a step forward so she could get a better look at it. dorcas turned to her friend, fingers pointed at a note written in blue paper. "this handwriting looks familiar."
she followed dorcas' hand, reading the note to herself. i'm so confuse, remus. where do i stand? am i your girlfriend or am i just a girl that's a friend?
below it was another note written with same handwriting. i shouldn't have let you kissed me the first time and i definitely shouldn't have let you done it the second since all it did was amplify how i feel for you.
sirius cleared his throat loudly, pulling their attention to him. "this is boring," he began, grey eyes firmly locked with her, "let's go read mine."
he pulled her away with a smile to the others, hoping that they'd follow without questioning. "you wrote it didn't you?"
"wrote what." she acted oblivious, standing before the wall filled with notes for the name sirius. he, like remus, was the only one with that name.
"those notes." he rolled his eyes, annoyed.
"isn't there supposed to be a spell to prevent people from knowing who wrote it?"
"there is," he concurred, "i actually don't know for sure. 's why i'm asking you. i don't recognize your hand writing but i know the situation mentioned like the back of my hands. i can only assume and i know they can too."
"so now everyone knows that i'm confused about what remus and i are?"
"pretty much," lily joined in, standing besides her. "god, sirius why is so many people angry at you?"
"why people are upset with me is not important right now," said sirius distractedly, "what's important is that moony read those notes —just like we did, need i remind you— and he still hasn't come to try and talk to you."
"maybe he doesn't know it's from me—"
"remus is not a basket case, darling," cut in sirius. "he's being slow on purpose."
lily tsked. "men are stupid, [name]." she reminded, not sparing a second at the baffled look sirius threw her. "let's go read the ones with your name on it."
there was only so many notes for someone with her name, all littered with different colors and signed with their initials on it. she didn't know half of the possible initials but one specifically caught her eyes.
r.l
she hoped, despite knowing that she shouldn't, hoped that it was from him and that he had written it for her.
above the initials was the note itself, written in a set of neat handwritings that was so similar and yet so unidentifiable, it had her heart jumping to her throat.
i had hoped that one day i could shun you out of my mind but i cannot, not when you are the only thing running through it. not when the idea that you'd let me kiss you again is stuck in my mind. the same mind that hasn't stopped thinking about you before i even knew how much i liked you.
i can only hope you would forgive me for it. r.l
"you know," sirius said slowly, eyeing the note, "this whole confession thing would be so much easier if you just talked to each other."
"like you're the one to talk sirius," lily scoffed, "you wrote regulus a lengthy five note apology letter instead of just saying sorry."
sirius flushed at that, turning away from lily bashfully as he muttered under his breath about how she was no fun.
•••
dinner came after classes as usual. dumbledore gave the podium once more to dorcas for her to express just how grateful she was that so many people participated in the project, welcoming feedbacks with open arms.
dorcas thanked james, lily, and sirius, respectfully giving them credit where it's due. dorcas was half way off the podium when her eyes widened comically, running back towards frantically. "just one more thing."
"if someone has said something to you and you're sure that it's meant for you from that special someone." dorcas looked at her pointedly, making her avert her eyes. "talk to them, work it out. that's all, goodnight."
dessert wasn't even able to make its appearance when she was hunted down by the marauders.
"i need to talk to you." remus took a step forward cautiously. "please?"
the five of them trudge towards the nearest empty room, the other three boys leaving to give them privacy. "so," she drawled, "what did you want to talk about?"
"why did you ask me if you were my girlfriend?" he asked directly, not seeing the point of beating around the bush.
"isn't it self explanatory?"
"no, it's not actually," said remus, annoyance etching into his tone, "would you care to explain why you said so?"
"i said it so because, i wasn't sure if i was."
"you weren't sure if you were my girlfriend?" remus scoffed, narrowing his eyes incredulously, "then what were you?"
"i dunno," she said lowly, feeling stupid that this conversation was even happening in the first place, "it's what i'm trying to find out."
"okay wait." remus took in a deep breath, his hand in a pausing motion. "so for the last three months, i thought that you were my girlfriend while you thought i was just some friend who goes around kissing people?"
"that's not—"
"it's not? because, it seems to me like you thought so."
"well it's not my fault you never made it clear!"
"and it's not my fault you never asked," he argued, "because, if you did —for even just once, we wouldn't be fighting right now."
she stared at him in silence, feeling speechless. "i'm so confuse."
"you're confuse?" he asked, almost taunting, "i'm fucking confuse. i've been thinking that you were my girlfriend since i kissed you in that goddamn ferris wheel."
"you thought we've been dating for three months?"
"yes," he said with a nod, "since we went on that ferris wheel and i kissed you. you didn't pull away, you kissed me back so i thought the feelings were mutual but apparently not."
"so that night," she murmured slowly, "your birthday." she clarified. "you kissed me because you were my 'boyfriend' and not because you were drunk."
"i kissed you because, you truly were the most beautiful person in that room," remus sighed, "why would you even think otherwise?"
"i don't know—" she paused, feeling pathetic, "it's just something sirius said after we kissed, it got me thinking—"
"of course, it's fucking sirius," remus cut in, laughing dryly, "the lad makes one relationship mistake and thinks he's qualified to go off and give advice. look where that got us now."
they could hear a scowl from outside the room before a smack landed, a loud ow! and a shut up you twat, you messed this up once already following in its wake.
"nowhere bad," she said, defending sirius slightly, "he actually told me to talk to you but i didn't so it's technically my fault."
"it's not your fault, [name]." remus frowned. "this could never be your fault. i kissed you not once but twice and never bothered to talk to you about it. it was stupid of me to think it was mutual."
"but it was, remus," she told him, "the kiss. everything. it was all mutual. i just— i didn't know that i was your girlfriend."
"then i must be one shitty boyfriend," he snickered, chewing on his bottom lip.
"will you just shut up and kiss me?" she took a step towards him. "as my boyfriend this time."
remus met her in the middle, smiling shyly. "how could i ever say no to you."

Sirius wakes to screams and jumping on his bed. “Dad!” They yell. “Daddy, wake up!” Sirius opens his eyes to see his son down by his feet jumping next to his sisters who are by Remus. Sirius looks over to his husband sitting up, arms crossed over his chest glaring at their children like they just interrupted his reading time, and they probably did.
“You’re supposed to be with your uncle.” Remus says to them, voice soft, but still an angry look on his face.
Sirius decides to sit up and Hermione comes to sit down in his lap followed by Violet between Remus and him and Teddy in Remus’s lap. Remus puts his arms around his son as Sirius did with their daughter. “They dropped us off.” Violet answers. “Said we were too crazy.”
“Never said that!” James’s voice comes from the other side of the door before it opens to reveal three more kids running in and jumping on their bed followed by James himself sitting at the end of it.
“Uncle Siri!” Rose yells, jumping on the bed and landing right next to Violet.
Remus glares at James and he just smiles back. “What? They wanted to see their uncle.”
“Doesn’t mean they should.” Remus answers as Mia sits down in James’ lap and Leo beside them.
“But it’s fun to watch you be tortured, Rem.” Regulus says, walking into the room and sitting by James as Leo goes to sit next to him.
Remus glares at him. “Alright, children. Let’s go get breakfast.” Everyone cheers and jumps up, racing down the stairs. Once James and Regulus are out of the room, Remus turns to him. “Bad start to the day?”
Sirius smiles at him and shakes his head. “No. It’s nice.” Remus leans over and kisses him before standing up to get dressed.
Once everyone is in the car, Sirius calls James and he answers on the first ring. “Where are we going?” James asks over the phone.
“Just follow us.” Remus says, starting the car.
“You sure you know where you’re going?”
“Yes, James. Just tell Regulus to follow us.”
“Who says I’m not driving?”
“You’re a bad driver. Of course it’s Regulus.” Sirius giggles at his husband’s response and hangs up the phone before a fight could break out.
“So, where are we going?” Sirius asks once they start moving.
“It’s a surprise.”
Sirius gasps once they park outside a restaurant. “Perkins!?” Sirius yells and reaches over the middle console to kiss Remus. Disgusted sounds come from the back and the two partners in the front laugh before stepping out of the car.
The six kids race to the doors and pull them open, Rose waiting for her fathers and uncles before closing it behind them and racing inside the other doors which Leo’s holding for them.
The breakfast was amazing to say the least, Sirius gets the same thing everytime, pancakes and bacon, he never mixes it up. He tried once, and it sucked, he was starving until lunch time because he couldn’t even eat a second bite of anything.
Sirius hums all the way back to the car, happy he got to see his brother for breakfast before they went on their way. “Happy birthday, Padfoot.” James says once they pull apart from their hug.
Regulus walks up to them once the kids are in their seats and buckled. “Happy birthday, Sirius.”
“Thanks for coming.” Sirius replies.
“James had to see you.”
James dramatically gasps. “I thought we agreed the kids wanted to see him? Rude.” Regulus rolls his eyes at his husband before walking to their car, followed by James seconds later.
Sirius gets in their car followed by Remus a few minutes later. “So, where to next?” Remus asks him.
“Home.”
“Board games!?” The kids scream once Sirius comes out of the hall closet with stacked games in his arms.
“We’re playing board games?” Remus asks, unamused.
“Well, if we have kids, might as well do something fun.” Remus rolls his eyes but sits down on the ground nonetheless. “What do you want to play first?” Sirius asks the kids once he’s sitting down beside Remus, games in the middle of the circle they formed.
“Candy land!” Teddy yells, grabbing it from the pile and a game piece from the coffee table. They had to buy an extra game piece for every game that only had four players. Family game night is when they usually play games, but Sirius likes the games so much, he tries to have game night more than once, but Remus likes reading more than games.
They play the games until their stomachs start growling and Remus goes to make dinner while the others play and even after dinner, they continue to play until the sun is down and the moon is up and it’s the kids' bedtime.
They groan as they walk up the stairs to their rooms, but they fall asleep quickly with how tired they were. After all the kids are asleep, Sirius drags Remus down the stairs and back to the floor to beat him at all the games. Of course Sirius didn’t win most of them, but Remus let him win some like he always does.
Sirius does his victory dance the whole night, even if he lost the games, he still won, because he has the most beautiful husband ever and the best kids he could ask for, even if they’re not always angels.

Part 2
The night was a blur for both boys sitting at the end of the hall, Regulus was kind of numb to all of it focusing all of his attention on the door his brother was behind. He was partially aware that someone(Fleamont) placed tea and something to eat before him, but food was literally the last thing on his mind at the moment.
Effie still wouldn't allow them to see Sirius, and Regulus couldn't help himself but resent her a bit for it- he knew that none of it was her fault, but his hands were shaking with nerves and he just couldn't stop thinking. He must have fallen asleep at some point( he felt guilty afterwards), because when he woke up Jam-Potter was nowhere in sight. He tried to ignore tingling in his side where he was pressed against the older boy.
Potter had to write to Remus at some point of the night and Lupin sure weren't taking his time, showing up five minutes after the owl was sent. Regulus heard Potter and Lupin talking in hushed voices, every word laced in worry, Regulus felt bad for them, he couldn't even imagine the panic that would take over his brother if Remus got hurt, in any way. They were two souls in one body, they belonged with eachother, not on the opposite side of a wall.
He remembered how concerned he felt when Sirius came to him about his feelings for the Welsh boy, he was worried- he didn't want his brother to get hurt...again, but there was nothing to worry about really they are so sweet, so gentle with eachother. He couldn't imagine better person for his brother, Remus may look intimidating at first but really he's so respectful with anyone, so patient and calm and he contrasts Sirius so well, Sirius was loud and fill of energy and Remus... He was so calm and kind, willing to wait.
He wished to comfort the taller one but weren't quite sure... How, he didn't know how to comfort anyone, but he had to do something, Remus looked devastated and so closed into himself, he wished to get him out of his head. Potter sat on the other side of the youngest, all of them sitting in silence, drowning in their thoughts. And Regulus knew how scary could your thoughts be, could get. And really that was the last thing any of them needed.
So he started talking: "when we were little- he paused to get his breathing under check "well... Eh we didn't have had much toys, with all the ' You will not disregard this family with this nonsense' stuff. I'm- i'm pretty sure Sirius grew up without any toys well at least until i came along. He, he made me little teddy bears- sew them from his old clothes. I've kept the first one he ever made me."
"what is the name?" He got startled from his memories by Remus. He didn't know how, but somehow he forgot that they were there with him.
" Nara"

Is it just my mum or have your mums too stopped believing you when they walk in while you're crying and you say it's because of some dead gay wizards? Because she thinks something bad is going on and I don't tell her.
No mum there's nothing going on except that REMUS HAD TO TURN INTO A FCKING WEREWOLF SINCE HE WAS 5 AND ENDURE PAIN UNIMAGINABLE, SIRIUS HAD TO ENDURE PAIN SINCE HE WAS A BABY AND HAD TO GROW UP REALLY EARLY SO HE COULD LOOK AFTER HIS LITTLE BROTHER BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS DIDN'T AND THEN SAID BROTHER STARTED ACTING MEAN AND COLD AND AGREEING WITH THEM AND SIRIUS WAS SO FCKING SAD AND THEN HE ESCAPED AND LEFT HIS BROTHER BACK AND HE FELT GUILTY FOR IT AND REGULUS HAD TO STAY BEHIND AND THEN JOIN THE DE AND THEN HE SACRIFICED HIMSELF FOR THE GREATER GOOD AND SIRIUS NEVER FOUND OUT, HE JUST THOUGHT HIS LITTLE REGGIE WAS EVIL, OH AND THE FCKING "WHY DID YOU BURN THAT LETTER?", AND THE PRANK, REMUS BEING IN LOVE WITH SIRIUS BUT HATING HIM AT THE SAME TIME THUS HATING HIMSELF FOR STILL LOVING HIM AND SIRIUS HATING HIMSELF FOR WHAT HE DID AND FOR MAKING REMUS FEEL THIS WAY AND BETRAYING HIM, AND THE FCKING HALLOWEEN OF 1981, THEY ALL THOUGHT THAT THEY HAD MORE TIME, BUT JAMES DIDN'T, AND HE DIED, BECAUSE OF HIS OLDEST FRIEND, AND THEN REMUS BLAMED SIRIUS AND SIRIUS WAS SENT TO AZKABAN WHEN HE DID NOTHING WRONG AND THEY SPENT 12 YEARS APART AND HARRY HAD TO GROW UP ALL ALONE IN A HOUSEHOLD SO HOSTILE INSTEAD OF THE LOVING ONE HE WOULD BE IN IF LILY AND JAMES HAD LIVED, AND JEGULUS NEVER GOT ENOUGH TIME TOGETHER BC JAMES THOUGHT REG HAD GOTTEN THE MARK AND THEY BROKE UP AND VOLDEMORT KILLED DORCAS AND THEN MARLENE DIED TOO AND EVAN DIED TOO BY MOODY AND BARTY HAD TO WATCH THAT AND PANDORA DIED WHILE MAKING POTIONS THUS LEAVING LUNA WITHOUT A MUM AND BARTY, REMUS AND MARY WERE LEFT UTTERLY ALONE AND MARY COULDN'T TAKE IT SO SHE JUST OBLIVIATED HERSELF, AND BARTY HAD HIS SOUL SUCKED AND REMUS DIED RIGHT AFTER BECOMING A FATHER AND THUS LEAVING TEDDY THE SAME WAY HARRY WAS LEFT AND PETEY, THEIR FRIEND IS THE REASON FOR A LOT OF THOSE OUTCOMES.
So yes mum I'm bawlling my eyeballs out for some dead gay wizards. No nothing happend at school.
If I have forgotten a traumatic event please forgive me I didn't even intend for this to be this long

Cursed Child redo
Just started over from scratch since our new bad guys are from the Lovecraftian school Miskatonic in the US. Plus, give us some Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff rep!
James Sirius Potter: Eldest son of Harry and Ginny. A braggart who is proud of the legacy he holds and wants to be the best-- especially in Quidditch! As a result he assumes the other houses are not the best and he picks on others like Albus and Scorpius. As a result of this bullying, Albus lashed out and cursed off his eye. Harry was furious, but Albus narrowly escaped getting expelled and was punished through alternative means. James was beside himself, he wasn't always like this. A combination of pressure to be perfect and his closeted homosexuality were something that was weighing heavily on him. Then his father went on a mission to the US to uncover the secrets to a strange school called Miskatonic University where allegedly students of a wizard or muggle background were enlisted together. But something wasn't right, students and aurors alike were going missing.... and Harry Potter hasn't returned either. James enlisted himself under Ilvermorny's exchange program in hopes of finding his father. However the cocky Gryiffindor was going to be in for something much bigger than mere kidnappings.
Albus Severus Potter: Middle child of the Potter family. Albus was worried about what house he'd be sorted into. Gryffindor or Slytherin. But the hat noticed how much the young boy would over think about everything and spat him out in Ravenclaw. Albus was stunned and felt unsure, nothing was going to plan and he worried if something was wrong. Feeling lost too he befriended Scorpius Malfoy. Despite their families complicated history he found Scorpius to be a good emotional rock in his life while they both related to things not going to plan. Eventually they embraced their house despite the earfuls they got from their families. One day Albus had heard about a portrait that was left empty. That portrait was of Severus Snape, dubbed hero of Hogwarts much like Dumbledore and immortalized. His painting was supposed to be a sign of good luck now that the curse on Defense Against the Dark Arts class was lifted. Feeling the need to meet one of his namesakes he tested fate and introduced himself to the painting hoping Snape would appear. At first he was disappointed and was about to leave when suddenly a voice told him to stay put. Snape finally came into his frame. He was amused that Harry had named one of his sons after him, even with a middle name. Albus would confide in Snape's portrait and share his thoughts and troubles to him. In time he saw Snape more like a father than Harry. He was easier to talk to and relate to. He battled with worries that he wasn't living up to his father's expectations. Snape softened up around him and would give him words of encouragement, especially after he accidentally cursed off Jame's eye. As soon as his father went missing-- followed by his brother, Albus felt the need to rescue them both to prove himself. But he would not be going alone.
Lily Luna Potter (Lily-lu for short): The youngest of the Potter family. Taking after her granny, Lily loves to make friends and saw the good in just about everyone she meets. Her best friend being the demi-giant Hibiscus Hagrid. At home she acts as the peacemaker to try and sooth the heavy arguments James and Ablus get into. The results are mixed, given that she's the youngest and seldom anyone listens to the youngest of the family. That is until she plays her wizard lute. She quickly found she had a talent for music and this would make everyone in the room feel better. She can't stand conflict and feels music helps a lot. With her brothers going abroad to find their father she and her friends are now faced with the equally scary task of uncovering students from the US trying to body snatch hogwarts students.
Teddy Lupin: So of the late Remus Lupin and Tonks. Godson to the potters. In his youth he'd frequent between his grandma's domain and the Potters. Until his grandma's untimely death, Harry and Ginny took Teddy as their own. He became a sort of foster big brother to James, Albus, and Lily. He was chill and liked making others laugh, but he knew how to settle conflicts over a nice batch of chocolate. He graduated from Hogwarts and is now the head of Hufflepuff house acting as a TA for the new Professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Trocar the vampire. During his time at Hogwarts he fell in love with Victoire and upon graduation they're now engaged to be married soon.
Hibiscus Hagrid: Daughter of Rubeus Hagrid and Olympe Maxine. The two half giants were on and off again until after the conflict of the wizarding war blew over and they got married. Hibiscus was one of the only half giant students going to Hogwarts. Her mother would fly back to France for her school and Hagrid would still tend to the beasts on the castle grounds. Hibiscus like her papa loved animals. When trying to find a familiar she couldn't pick one and ended up with 5. 2 cats, 2 owls and a toad. Seeing as Hagrid's house is close by she'd always trade out her critter between classes. That way no one feels left out. She'd always make time to have tea with her papa and soon Lily-- or Lily-lu she'd nickname her would come along. One day she discovered a dragon's egg in a poacher's camp and it hatched. Unsure of what to do she kept the little dragon in her pocket, seeing as it was the size of a salamander at the time. She'd feed it marshmallows to help keep her belly full for classes. She named the dragon Willow.... and Willow was getting bigger. She dreaded the day she'd have to turn the little orphan dragon loose.
Rose Weasley: Daughter of Hermione and Ron. Being the daughter of the minister of magic, she expected nothing else than to be in the exact house her parents were in. To her horror she ended up in Slytherin. She about had a fit, but the hat dubbed her worthy as one and she was ushered into her house. Rose thought this was the worst thing ever and worried how her parents would react that their witty girl didn't get into Gryffinfdor. But as it turned out she found some of her cousins there too. She became friends with Erin who helped her adjust and see things from a different point of view. Slytherin house was very different from what is was in the past. Where as she heard stories about pure blood extremists she found very clever and insightful people. Perhaps not all Slytherins were bad.... But her prejudice flared up when she saw her cousin befriending a Malfoy. She'd shout and tell Scorpius to back off thinking he was going to send Albus down a dark path, but slowly found that wasn't the case. Once again Rose began to contemplate that in her fears of finding bullies she ended up being one. She eased up on her temper and found a healthy spot to be in over time. But as soon as her uncle Harry went missing she turned to her father. Ron was once the Watson to Harry's Sherlock, they were a great team until Ron got into an accident and a dark wizard got away. He stepped down to recover and would work with his brother at Zonko's Joke shop. Once his leg healed Ron felt like he had the fight taken out of him. Was he just slowing everyone down? Should he just be a stay at home dad and watch the kids? The man was in a state of doubt and it sparked some tension in his and Hermione's marriage. Rose worried if she screwed up it would make her parents get divorced. It wasn't true, but it worried her to death. Something her little brother didn't seem to catch. Still she got word about Harry going missing and told her father she, James, Albus, and Scorpius had to go and find him. Ron was hesitant to get his daughter and nephews involved, but he vowed he'd watch over them and bring back Harry Potter. He could finally prove himself he wasn't an old fart who lost his spark.
Hugo Weasley: Son of Hermione and Ron. The scruffy joker of a boy became fast friends with his cousin James. He'd act as his hype man at every turn. But when he wasn't in James's shadow he was tending to his house elf friend, Yo-yo. After his mother freed the house elves from bondage, there had been a new generation of house elves who were born free and wore clothes like the wizards and goblins. Yo-yo couldn't get a wand-- didn't need one really, but he wanted to go to Hogwarts like all the other wizards. So Hugo had him hide in his book bag so he could see what wizard life was like. Hugo despite being a touch naive himself felt the need to protect Yo-yo. This would get them into danger sometimes.
Scorpius Malfoy: Son of Draco and Astoria. Scorpius was the first Malfoy in generations to end up anyway else but Slytherin. Given his family's reputation Scporius is used to having people assume the worst in him. But seeing as he got sorted into Ravenclaw he was hoping to prove everyone wrong. And to kick it all off he befriended Albus. The two got into Astronomy and would spend hours at night trying to spot the constellations in their dorm. Scorpius was cool headed and clever and as soon as Harry went missing he jumped at the chance to help his best friend. He has a crush on Rose, but it's gonna take some time before she'll like him back.
Griselda Trelawney: Daughter of Sybill Trelawney and Omar Amid. Her father died when she was little and her mother supposedly saw visions of something dreadful befalling Griselda. From her two colored eyes, the star birthmarks on her back, even her beauty mark. All of these were supposed to be signs for different outcomes. As a result it left her with a lot of depression. No one could tell if her mom was telling the truth or was just old and senile. She confided in her partner Dominique who could somehow pull her out of her funk and be happy for once.
Hilda Longbottom: Daughter of Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbot. Being the daughter of the current Herbology teacher and the Land lady of the Leaky Cauldron, Hilda became a feisty Gryffindor. She was aware of folks poking fun at her softy of a dad-- despite him slaying Nagini-- and would sick her cane toad familiar at students she felt needed to be taught a lesson. She didn't care if she got detention, she had 0 tolerance for bullying. Hugo has a huge crush on her.
Lysander and Lorcan Scamander: Sons of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander. Arguably the new Weasley twins in spirit. Despite being sorted in different houses the twins act in sync almost like stoners. Being related to the famous Newt Scamander they both gravitate to the care for magical beasts. They want to be wizard vets when they graduate.
Molly and Lucy Weasley: Daughters of Percy and Audrey. Also fellow Weasley's who got sorted into Slytherin. Molly is their current prefect and head girl, she sets strict rules and expects everyone to follow them. Her twin Lucy, being a fellow prefect is more lax about the rules and even encourages them to be broken. This results in massive heated debates between the two sisters.
Erin Chang Campbell: Daughter of Cho Chang and a Muggle, Mr. Campbell. Erin was a quiet girl who was gifted with potions. She helped befriend Rose while she got situated at Slytherin and showed her Slytherin wasn't so bad to be in.
Victoire, Dominique, and Louis Weasley: Victoire is a Ravenclaw graduate and fiance to Teddy Lupin. She acts as an assistant for Minerva McGonagall. She's an animagus who can turn into a swan. Her siblings and cousins would joke she's the swan princess from Swan Lake. Dominique is a Gryffindor senior and is transitioning from girl to boy. Currently dating Griselda. And Louis is a werewolf. He accidentally got bitten by his father but tries to not let that hold him back. Best friends with Jahnu.
Freddie and Roxanne Weasley: Son and Daughter of George and Angelina. Two cunning pranksters who are trying to bring some fun back into Gryffindor. They befriended Peeves and are on the lookout for their uncle's ghost who apparently haunts around the clock tower. They hope to find him so their father can have some closer.
Harbeth and Apus Finnegan: Sons of Seamus Finnegan and Lily Moon. Both are of Irish and Korean decent. Apus loves food and wants to work at Honeydukes when he graduates. Biggest of all he wants to add more flavors from Korea to his confections to make brand new wizard candy. However his confections still have a lot of progress to go. When they're food, they're really good-- when they're bad things tend to go BOOM. Harbeth is his designated taste tester, often accident prone but willing to try-try again. Both are on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Both have a tendency to raid the Hogwarts kitchens while no on is looking.
Freya Onai Wood: Daughter of Oliver Wood and best keeper in Ravenclaw's Quidditch team.
Jahnu Thomas: Son of Dean Thomas and Parvati Patel, best quiddich player for Slytherin house and rival to James.

Day 11 of @remadoramicrofics - That's Disgusting
Remus watched lovingly as Tonks prompted Teddy through the platform. He smiled as Teddy braced himself and set off for the wall before disappearing. Remus glanced around one last time before slipping through after them. As soon as he passed through, he was assaulted by a barrage of noise. Parents stood with their children – some fighting to get away and some clinging to their legs.
Teddy turned to him. “Do you take the train, Da?”
“No, I have to be there early – someone has to welcome you!” When Teddy had turned six, Minerva had arrived at the Lupins’ doorstep with a job offer, noting that Remus would no longer need to be a stay-at-home father.
Remus had politely refused, hoping to spare her the criticism Dumbledore had received following his hire. Minerva was insistent, though, and had roped Dora in on it. Eventually, he had agreed to return to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts on the condition that he could commute from Hogsmeade.
Teddy looked at his mother with wide eyes. “Do you think if I change my hair, the hat will let me pick my house?”
“Which house do you want?”
Teddy froze and Remus watched his hair dull from a vibrant teal to an icy blue. “I don’t know, which one do you think I should pick?”
“It doesn’t matter what house you’re in, Teddy,” Remus assured him with a hand on his shoulder.
“You and Harry were in Gryffindor,” he pointed out.
Remus shrugged. “Yes, but your mother was a Hufflepuff and your Nan a Slytherin. Luna and Penelope were both Ravenclaws.”
“There’s no bad house,” Dora stressed.
Teddy nodded resolutely. “Alright.”
Tonks grinned. “Want us to walk you on the train?”
“No,” he said quickly and set off a few paces ahead of them, muttering, “how embarrassing.”
“Can you believe that our baby’s all grown up? I suppose that makes you a bit of an old man,” Dora teased.
Remus rolled his eyes. “He’s hardly all grown up.” He smiled at her. “Thinking of trading me in for a younger model?”
“Oh, you know I would never,” she smacked him playfully as they followed Teddy. It was getting a bit harder to keep up with him; he had pulled a hat over his head. As of late, his hair had been cycling through house colors while his eyes remained a steely gray. Dora had told Remus that the same happened to her the night before she left – she had been so overwhelmed she could control her morphs.
“Harry!” Remus said as he embraced his son’s Godfather. “Glad you could make it.”
“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss seeing my Godson off to Hogwarts.” Harry looked Teddy over. “A bit nervous, are we?”
Teddy shrugged. “Maybe.”
“He’s worried about the sorting,” Dora whispered.
“Oh, nothing to worry about there,” Harry said, “It doesn’t hurt a bit.”
Remus found himself chuckling at the joke. Harry had always looked like James, but lately Remus noticed he had begun to act a bit more like him, too. Sometimes, it was painfully hard to watch – especially the older Harry got, knowing his father had never reached that milestone.
He had felt that way the night he had come home from the battle – he was married, with a son he would raise, but he had spent the whole night wondering if he had deserved it. James and Sirius had never had such opportunities and they were far more deserving, could have been far better at it. When he had confessed these feelings to Nymphadora on a particularly sleepless night, he thought, for just a moment, that she was going to literally knock some sense into him.
She had simply pulled him close and insisted that everyone deserved to be happy and loved – it wasn’t something he had to earn – and that, really, his friends would only want the best for him. More surprisingly, though, she told him that she understood. That the ministry used to harp about survivor’s guilt after missions but that she had never really felt it until that night.
Remus was brought back to the conversation by Dora’s gentle hand on his arm. Teddy was rolling his eyes at something Harry had said and Harry was grinning at them. Remus, despite his usual hesitance at public displays of affection, pulled Dora into a quick kiss. “I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you more,” she said as she pulled him into another.
They broke apart at Teddy’s indignant protests. “Mum, Da, stop! That’s disgusting!”
Remus chuckled and ducked his head to hide his blush but Dora just laughed. “Oh, just you wait, your Nan used to give me a big kiss on the cheek right before she’d put me on the train.”
She lunged for him, but Harry grabbed her. “Run, Teddy, I’ll hold her off!”
Teddy looked like he was considering it, but Remus caught a hold of his arm, “There will be no more embarrassing Teddy,” he declared, calling a truce between the three of them. “But you are required to give your mother and I a hug before you board.”
“A side hug,” he bartered.
“A real hug,” he insisted, “or I’ll let her kiss both your cheeks and sneak her into the sorting.”
“You wouldn’t,” Harry cried as Dora pulled out of his grip.
“Don’t test me,” he warned playfully.
“Fine,” Teddy reluctantly agreed, though he hugged his father tight.
“We’re so proud of you,” Remus whispered as he squeezed his son back, “And we always will be.”
Dora sniffled as she held him tight. “You better write to me or I’ll send a howler of me singing,” she threatened.
“I promise,” Teddy said.
“Want help with your things?” Harry asked.
“Sure,” Teddy said as he bounded for the train.
Dora turned to him, slack-jawed. “Can you believe him?”
Remus grinned at her. “Can you blame him; we’re old and embarrassing.”
“Speak for yourself,” she said as she pulled him into another kiss.

The Patchwork of Us | Chapter 6
In today's chapter, Remus takes Teddy Christmas shopping but it does not go according to plan. In fact, it goes very very wrong as Remus' past catches up to him in the worst possible way and Sirius finally tires of the secrets.
This is a heavy chapter, folks, so be kind to yourselves and remember that sometimes things need to get worse before they can get better.
Read from the beginning here.
Snippet below the cut:
Remus hadn’t been able to shake the conversation he’d had with Sirius. He knew that he needed to talk to his parents eventually, Sirius had made that very clear, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He’d been sleeping badly, his old nightmares returning and keeping him up during the few nights that he wasn’t working. He did his best to hold it together though, but he knew it wouldn’t be sustainable in the long run.
It wasn’t the first time he’d hit a bad spell, and it most likely wouldn’t be the last either. He knew that the holidays were difficult, and with the extra stress of spending more time with Teddy and the pressure of reconnecting with his parents hanging over him, he really wasn’t surprised that his mind and body were screaming at him to slow down and take a break.
His bad leg was acting up again, and he knew the cold was only partly to blame. As always when he found his mind spinning out of control, his body wasn’t far behind, and the many hours he spent in his car while working didn’t help either. He was more reliant on his cane than he’d been in a long time, and he felt stiffer and more awkward than usual.
He’d been embarrassed, at first, picking Teddy up at school. Or, not embarrassed for himself, he had gotten over that a long time ago, but worried that Teddy would be embarrassed for him. So far the boy hadn’t shown that he’d been, but Remus was painfully aware what a bleak and pathetic figure he made, especially when standing next to Sirius Black who, despite being the same age as Remus, looked like vitality personified.
Sirius was a whole different can of worms that Remus had done his best not to think about lately. Remus felt as if something had changed between them, and he couldn’t put his finger on what or why. Sirius was friendlier to him, warmer, and staying for dinner after Remus had picked up Teddy from school had become a habit.
When the boy disappeared up the stairs after dinner, it left Sirius and Remus alone in the kitchen. Usually Remus would stay long enough to keep Sirius company while he tidied up after their dinner, which Remus usually cooked, and the whole thing felt…strangely domestic. He found that Sirius was funny and smart and when he wasn’t being a stuck-up, pompous arse it was actually quite nice being around him.
Sometimes Remus would put Teddy to bed before going home to his empty and dark flat to stare at the wall until his eyes hurt. When he did manage to fall asleep there were either nightmares or strange dreams that made little sense that woke him up, his heart racing in his chest. At least it had been, until this morning.
Remus didn’t remember the details, but he did very vidily remember black, silky hair and grey eyes and long fingers. His body itched with the fake memory of being pinned against the wall, of Sirius’ solid body pressed against him, of pink lips and sharp teeth. Remus wasn’t a teenager anymore, and he rarely woke up with an erection these days, but this morning he had.
He didn’t know where it came from. He hadn’t thought about Sirius like that since– well, he hadn’t wanted to remember ever having thought about Sirius like that, but the dream had been a painful reminder. Even though Remus hadn’t figured out his sexuality until well after school, he still had eyes, and you would have to be blind not to see how attractive Sirius Black was. And Remus Lupin was a lot of things but blind was not one of them.
So there was nothing wrong with his eyes, but there was a problem with almost everything else, and Sirius was, well, he was Sirius Black and even if Remus had known then what he knew now, he would never have been brave enough to do anything about it. Now, he told himself, the reason for his dream was probably just because he’d been spending so much time with Sirius lately.
Sirius’ house was so much nicer than his own flat, and Teddy was there. Teddy was there and so was Sirius, with his muscular arms and long throat and pale skin. No. Remus could not go down that route, not with Sirius of all people. It wasn’t even about Sirius, not really, it was just the fact that he hadn’t gotten laid in ages and he was getting frustrated and Sirius was right there .
He was right there with his broad shoulders and big hands and sharp cheekbones and after a while, by the time Remus had made it to the shower, he gave in to the fantasy. He gave in to the thoughts, closing his eyes underneath the hot spray of water as he pulled himself off while thinking of smooth skin and a strong jaw and stormy eyes.

Not really an anti thing per se, but something I feel the need to vent about:
One of the reasons I feel so conflicted on the Harry Potter thing is not only my concerns about continuing to give Rowling a platform, but also just, unpopular opinion, I… kinda think the fandom can be almost as performative as the haters?
I KNOW HOW THAT SOUNDS BUT HEAR ME OUT!
First off: they’re always going on about how "oh, we’re making ALL the hp characters trans to piss off the TERF!" and then you look at the fics and art and stuff and it’s like, at least 80-90% is just the same cookie cutter "Draco and Harry are gay trans men who make out 24/7 and there's some trans gay WolfStar in the background too, I guess, and also maybe black trans Hermione can have a cameo at some point as a treat, but who cares because it’s Drarryin' Time! *proceeds to Drarry all over AO3*" fics.
Like… why is it that after Rowling announced her status as a card-carrying fascist, "all the hp characters" suddenly became just Harry, Draco, Remus, Sirius and maybe Hermione if you're lucky? ESPECIALLY considering the fact that I know from experience that the fandom used to have way more diversity headcanons than this?
What about Ron "angsty because his mom wanted a daughter" Weasley? Or Neville and Hannah, who never had children (clearly, one of them is trans! Or maybe both are trans AND ace! Two groups Rowling hates for the price of one!)? Where are the Trans Dean/Seamus and Trans Lavender/Parvati fics? Trans Luna??? One of Bill and Fleur's kids being the first known male Veela hybrid in the series (literally a fuckin' goldmine of gender possibilities)???? What about fuckin' Nymphadora "gender nonconforming shapeshifter who hates her traditionally feminine name" Tonks (if ANY character would’ve been made trans or enby to spite Rowling, I’d have thought Tonks and her son Teddy would be the FIRST choices)???? EBONY DEMENTIA DARKNESS RAVEN WAY (objectively the BEST Harry Potter character)??!!!????
Part of me suspects that this is at least partly because these characters aren’t "popular" and therefore won't get the same attention as the Drarry "rivals to lovers" vibe and the All The Young Dudes spin-offs, but I can’t be fully sure of that.
And like… a lot of times it looks like their activism just, begins and ends with fandom activity? A lot of the same questions levied at HP haters ("are you supporting and/or donating to pro-trans causes?" "Are you making an effort to understand WHY TERF ideology is bad?" etc., all 100% valid questions) can also be levied against fans who make their headcanons and shipping the main source of their activism.
I’m not saying that NO hp fans are doing actual activism, I’ve seen a few examples, but it feels to me at least like the majority are not. It just seems they think shipping Harry and Draco whilst transing them to pretend it makes the TERF seethe (when really she probably doesn’t even know your fanfic exists) is a substitute for activism, just as HP haters think hating the series and patting themselves on the back for not reading it when they were twelve is a substitute for activism.
I guess the bright side is that at least the Drarry shippers aren’t harassing people? There are testimonies from trans people about hp fans harassing them, but the majority of those fans obviously wouldn’t also be writing trans Drarry fics so ehh?
Idk, like I said I’m conflicted and I need to vent. I’ve been holding this vent in for a while now.
I guess my thesis statement here is: HP fandom, if y'all really want to "diversify Harry Potter to spite the TERF", then please for the love of Glaux ADD MORE CHARACTERS AND IDENTITIES TO YOUR HEADCANON ROSTER.

not a fic idea but needs to get out of me bc remadora bugs me so bad and i have to explain it in a way that makes any sense at all-
in the canon/atyd universe remus and tonks get together out of convenience. they’re quite good friends, she reminds him of sirius a good deal and he reminds her of a girlfriend she’s lost in the war as well. she wants a kid, and asks remus if he’d like to have one with her. he thinks about it, and at first is extremely reluctant. between the war and him being a werewolf and his still fresh grief over sirius’ death, it seems so stupid. so stupid. but in the end, logic doesn’t come into it. He loves tonks, his best friend at this point despite the age difference, and he figures he’s going to die in this war so he won’t be around to fuck the kid up. it’s horrible, but he knows she’s up for it if he goes. he never imagines that she could die too, that she wouldn’t stay out of battle. But she’s so like sirius- he should have known. at the point that she was pregnant, after a very awkward night of trying to have sex that ended up in remus crying alone in the bathroom when it was done (he felt like he had done something awful to sirius, but he hoped that he would understand- it was only reproductive.), they decided it was best to get married. it just made much more sense legally, and neither of them had prospects to get married for love, both of them being gay and all. Only their closest circle knew that about them, anyway. they kept it to themselves, mostly, because it wasn’t relevant. tonks was pregnant, they loved each other, they got married- all of this was true, who cared if there weren’t any romantic or sexual feelings involved? as long as they were on the same page, and they were- it didn’t matter. besides, remus knew he would never love again. not like that. not when he’d had the brightest star in the sky- not when he’d had to watch it burn out. he knew tonks felt similarly about her late girlfriend, but she was so young. He had hope for her yet. as far as making her happy, he could give her a child, and hope to god that that would be enough.
in the end, teddy had to grow up without his parents, but he had andromeda to tell him about them. and he had harry around to do the same. and he had grant, in the end, to start filling in the blanks that others wouldn’t tell him. grant said they didn’t know, but teddy knew that wasn’t true when he’d gone and asked about it later. they both had just smiled softly and said something along the lines of it not being their story to tell. teddy wished they had. Being queer, he felt closer to his parents than ever. he still thought it was gravely irresponsible to have a baby with a war going on, that maybe his dad should have learned from lily and james, but nothing could be done about it now. andromeda said that war makes people crazy- people grasp for happiness wherever they can. She said that his parents were just searching for that happiness and found it in him.
so no, remus and nymphadora were not in love. they did not suddenly become straight or realize some life changing bisexuality in the year after sirius and her girlfriend had died. They did not find the love of their lives in one another, but they did find a soulmate. soulmates are not just lovers. they had needed each other in the end, someone who understood exactly what the other felt. the hollow, soul sucking feeling of losing the one person you never wanted to lose. the feeling of wanting to grasp at creation in the midst of all that destruction.
they were not in love, but they did love. and that, even if not everyone understood it, was more than enough.

“C'mon, bub.” Sirius pleads, cradling the crying three-year-old toddler to his chest. he's been sobbing for half an hour and Sirius has no idea where those tears are coming from. That river should be empty by now. “Tell me what's wrong, mhm? Was it a bad dream? Is your head hurt?”
The wailing proceeded to get harder.
Sirius leaned away slightly, eyes frantically looking for any form of a bump in the little boy's head. Remus had insisted they started trying to let Teddy sleep by himself on his own bed, and Sirius begrudgingly agreed. Now he didn't think it was a good idea. Has his son fallen out of bed? Was he crying because he was hurt?
“Wait— Teddy, stop fussing, let me look at you, are you hurt?” He tried to pry his little arms away from his neck so he could give him a once over but that fight was proving to be impossible. He was clinging to him like a lifeline. “Bub, I've got to see you. Can you look at Dada?” His ears were ringing to the shrilling sound but that wasn't what he cared about. Teddy hesitated but relaxed his arms, slowly lifting his head to look at Sirius. The sobs didn't stop but they had diminished a little. “There he is,” Sirius gave him a weak smile, cleaning his wet cheeks as his eyes studied his frame carefully. “Did you fall off your bed?” He questioned slowly, brows knitting when he only earned a weak shake of the head.
Teddy's big brown eyes watched him curiously, following the fingers that kept moving around his frame, when his arm was lifted he let out a surprised giggle.
Sirius’s eyes widened, “Was that a giggle I heard?” He tickled the little boy's armpit again. Teddy squirms on his arms, childish laughs erupting from his throat. Okay. That's better. “You're okay now, aren't you? You just wanted my attention?”
“Papa,” Teddy mumbled after his laughs quietened down. “Papa.” he said more urgently rubbing his eyes, honey orbs welling with tears causing Sirius’ grin to disappear. The wailing started as if it never stopped.
“Shh, shh.” Sirius tried it all. Singing, swaying, bad jokes, a bed time story, even tickling him again — nothing worked. “Papa is sleeping, bub. He's tired. But I'm here.” He pressed his lips to the younger's curls. “Dada's right here.”
“Papa!” Teddy manages to explode Sirius’s eardrums with the scream. When he turned to the entrance of the living room, a tired-looking remus lupin greet him with a smile. Teddy repeated his name until he reached them and Remus chuckled at his grabby hands, picking him up from his husband's arms.
“Hello,” Remus says as Teddy nuzzles his cold nose on the croak of his neck, arms gripping his sweater tightly as if scared he would run off somewhere. “Why aren't you sleeping, sweetheart? It's really late.”
“Thought he might've fallen off the bed,” Sirius said, giving him a pointed look. I told you this wasn't a good idea. To which he received a roll of eyes. “But he told me no. He's not hurt either— I've tried everything, moony.” He crossed his arms, forehead creasing in concern. “He just kept saying papa.”
Remus let out a hum of acknowledgment, outstreching a hand towards him as the other arm supported the three-year-old. Sirius locked their fingers, taking a step towards them. He studied Teddy with a sad smile.
“I guess he just needed you.”
Remus took his hand to his lips, “He missed me,” he said quietly, looking down at the head full of chocolate curls that matched the color of his hair. “He's not used to not seeing one of us for a whole day. With the full moon... his routine was disrupted.”
“You should lay down,” Sirius frowned, caressing the side of his cheek. “Get some rest.”
“I've got enough rest for the entire year.”
“You're so dramatic.” Sirius huffs out a chuckle. “Your body breaks bones once a month. You have every right to stay in bed. Resting. Recovering. Which is what you should be doing.” his fingers brushed his son's strands away from his lashes. “I can take him to bed. He's down like a light.”
Remus gives him a short kiss on the cheek before stepping away and moving towards the stairs, hearing Sirius grumbling in protest behind him.
Once he left Teddy on the bed, sounding asleep, he kissed the top of his head and exited the room, making sure the door was ajar in case he woke up again.
Walking back towards his bedroom, he's met with the image of his husband sitting at the edge of their bed, hunched over frame and hands running through his face. His dark hair fell like curtains above his shoulders. It had gotten longer through the years, Remus can't remember the last time he cut it. Not that he should, he likes it the way it is. Sirius seems to like it too, says it's good for braiding and styling.
“Hey,” Remus perched down beside him, placing his chin on his shoulder as his hands trailed down his arms in a gentle manner. “You okay?”
Sirius nods, leaning into him. “Yeah.”
“Are you sure?”
Remus could feel something was wrong. But he wouldn't force him to tell him anything, he would when he thought it was the right time.
“I just— sometimes I think he hates me,” Sirius choked out.
Remus’s movements halted, “Teddy?” he asked, bewilderment taking over his features.
Sirius leaned away, letting out a shaky breath before he carried on. “I don't know how to— I don't have the warmth a parent should, Remus. The way you do. You know when you make him feel safe just by being in the room? I don't think he feels that way with me. I was never taught how to do it. I never had that kind of—that kind of—”
“Love?” Remus asked, understanding where this was coming from. It was deeper than a sleepless night. It came from the blood running within his veins and the heartache marked in the scars on his body and on his soul. Remus recognized that haunted far-away look anywhere. “Sirius,” he nudged his shoulder, touching his cheek softly. when he saw the red-rimmed eyes his heart clenched. “Darling, you have more than just warmth. you have love and you have goodness in you.” He placed his palm on his chest, caressing right above his heart. “...and your son sees that more than anybody else. he feels that, Sirius.”
“I think that no matter how hard I try not to be like them—like her, it will be useless. She's crawling into my skin just like she did before. and,” his throat clogged up. “and Teddy will resent me when he grows up just like I resent them.”
He's been keeping this inside for so long and Remus just knows this by his cries are coming out in desperate sobs. He quickly wrapped his arms around Sirius’s shaking frame, bringing his head to rest on his shoulder. Remus stayed like that for a while, murmuring sweet reassurances in his husband's ear until his sobs died down and became a soft breath against his skin.
“I don't know how to change,” Sirius mumbles in a low tone.
“Why would you have to?” Remus plays with his long strands, resting his cheek against his temple. “You don't, darling. Who you are right now is enough.” When Sirius moves to retort something, Remus quickly pecks his lips. “Let me finish.” He gives him a look that renders Sirius quiet. “You don't see the things I do because you don't look for them. But the way Teddy clings to you when he has nightmares or the accomplice grin he sends your way when he's done something wrong or when he only wants you to read your bedtime stories because he knows you make up some crazy fiction and don't actually read the ones in the books; I see it. I see it all the time.”
There's a beat and he knows his words meant something because of the way the gray eyes in front of him are glinting with something other than sadness. Hope.
“Teddy cannot hate you,” Remus lifts his chin, drawing circles on his cheek lovingly. “He cannot do anything besides loving you, Sirius. You make him feel safe. You make him feel loved. Just like I do. This place—this life we built? It belongs to all of us. You don't need to change to be here. you need to be yourself. you need to be my loving and beautiful husband who's terrible at cooking but tries anyway,” that earned him a tearful chuckle and a slight push. He grinned wickedly. “You need to keep being you. The man I love. Teddy's amazing father.” He pauses. “Sirius.” He leans his forehead on him. “They can't hurt you anymore. She can't. And anything that happens from now on— anything you'll build... It will be yours, nothing can take that away.”
“Teddy won't grow up to resent you,” I can't ever see that as an option. “I know it's hard to be free from these thoughts. I know it feels like they're following your every move. That they won't ever leave you alone.” There's some part of Remus, not only on full moons, that he just wants to crawl up and disappear. His mind is too much, too dark and too dangerous, often it feels like a cave in the middle of nowhere in which bony creatures climb the walls and sink their claws into them. So he knows what it feels like. Even if their pain is different, it's still the same. That deep old ache stinging in their chest. “But I'm here to help you chase them away, okay? What your head tells you may not always be the truth.” Effie's words slip out of his tongue as if they have been his all along. She's comforted all of them during different periods of time and he's thankful he's been one of those people. There are some things Euphemia Potter told Remus that he didn't quite understand until later. These days, he's still coming to terms with bits of her advice. She might be gone but she's still here, caring for everyone with her wise words.
“I love you,” Sirius tilts his head to look at him properly. “I love you so bad, moony.”
“I love you, too.”
Sirius brushes his lips against his, kissing him slowly, then he leans back and looks at him as if he was seeing Remus for the first time. It always feels like the first time with them.
“You really think it was a good idea to let him sleep by himself?”
“Oh, god.” Remus cries out. “Here we go.”
“I'm just saying! Maybe it’s too early—” Sirius attempts to bargain but Remus is two steps ahead as always.
“He needs to learn now, otherwise he'll never get used to sleeping in his own bedroom.”
Sirius sighs, a sad undertone when he speaks again. although Remus is very much aware he's not sad anymore, it's just the dramatics. “Okay.”
Remus smiles a bit, “Teddy will handle it.”
“I don't want him to grow up,” Sirius frowns slightly, lower lip thrusting out.
Remus hums, pulling him towards the bed. Sirius lets him do it, his body curling in his husband's chest like he's done countless times before.
“I don't want it either,” Remus admits quietly, burying his nose in his hair, which smells like strawberry and some fancy fragrance from his expensive shampoo.
There's a soft knock on the door, small socked feet and a mess of honey-brown curls peeking through the small space open. They hadn't closed it completely in case Teddy needed them in the middle of the night.
“Hey,” Sirius crawled out of the bed, pushing the door open wide. “What's wrong?” He asked softly, crouching down to Teddy's height. The little boy had his lips pressed together in a pout, arms folded.
“No stowies.” Teddy complained, tapping his left foot on the floor. Remus covered a laugh by clearing his throat. He looked exactly like Sirius did in first year when he hadn't got what he wanted. The pout and the foot tapping on the floor in an impatient manner. The resemblance was uncanny. “Dada.” He drawled, swaying their hands together.
Sirius stole a look at Remus, suppressing a smile. When he looked down at Teddy, he was met with a frown. “Oh, you want stories?”
“You forget!”
“I did forget, didn't I?” Sirius quickly pull him to his arms, throwing him up in the air to catch him again. The room was filled with childish shrieks and giggling. “I'm sorry, Teddy. That's awful. Can you ever forgive me? Can you?” Teddy's giggles proceeded to enhance considerably.
Remus sat crisscrossed on the bed, watching the scene with fondness melting his insides. he loved these little moments. there's nowhere else he'd feel at home than right here.
“C'mon, baby. Fun's over.” Sirius huffed, lowering the boy towards Remus so he could say goodnight. “Kiss your papa and let's go to our dream adventure.”
“Goodnight, sweetheart,” Remus said softly, giving him a butterfly kiss which made Teddy giggle cutely. Sirius send him a wink and walked out of the room with their son squirming in his hold.
When Sirius walked back into their shared bedroom, he promptly threw his body on top of Remus, who let out a groan in protest even though his arms wrapped around Sirius's slim waist instinctively. They fit into each other like puzzle pieces.
“Did he make you tell those stories?”
“it wouldn't be Teddy if he didn't want to hear about that time we turned the entire Slytherin house pink.”
Remus's laugh was muffled by Sirius's chest. “I reckon he's got a talent for mischief." Leaning back, Sirius wriggled his eyebrows knowingly. “What d'you think he'll be like at eleven?"
“Hogwarts’ worst nightmare.”
“Minnie's secret favorite student.” Sirius corrected him, poking his cheek. Remus bit the tip of his finger and ends up earning a slap on the shoulder. “You know who it was back then, don't you?”
Remus's lips crinkle at the edges. “Let me guess: you, Padfoot?”
“Of course it was me.” He said pointedly.
“Okay.” Remus kisses his cheek to hide his grin. “Sure it was.”
Sirius acknowledges the sarcasm in his tone and keeps insisting on the topic until Remus admits the truth – his truth – by ticklish threats. Which is unfair because Remus is very much sensitive to anything touching his sides, exactly like Teddy. And Sirius is aware of that he just takes advantage to get his way around. As Teddy sleeps soundly in his room down the hall after his most precious bedtime stories, they fall asleep in each other's arms under a blanket of comfort and safety like they do every night.

Some wonderful June recs:
recs under readmore for:
we're already in the aftermath by @slashmarks // 16k, T // Sirius/Remus/Lily
Like Break of Day by @cntrl15 // 3.6k, T // Bellatrix/Narcissa
Flying Lessons by @phantomato // 2k, T // Andromeda/Rolanda
The Velveteen Rabbit by @saintsenara // 3k, G // Mrs Cole, Tom Riddle
crossposted on dreamwidth! come say hi @ our little hp recs community!
we're already in the aftermath by @slashmarks // 16k, T // Sirius/Remus/Lily
Summary: Lily's plan to defeat Voldemort forever and leave her and Harry safe succeeds - and leaves her struggling with guilt over James's death even as she has no one left but James's best friends. In the meantime, the Ministry carries on as usual. The war is dead, long live the war: they're losing the peace instead. A thank you gift for a beta.
Hi it's me I am said beta. I could rec so much of slashmarks' fic, don't get me started. If it's the ship that caught your eye, please note the rating too: this is a very worldbuilding-heavy James-dies-on-Halloween-'81 AU. love a messy Lily who's not a paragon of moral purity trying to navigate the magical world—with its antiquated systems and pureblood prejudice and hardline views towards Dark magic—as a young adult, a young mother, with a life before her she hadn't imagined she would have. Sirius, Remus, and Bellatrix are superb side characters in this too; they're really used efficiently and effectively to add so much to the story.
Like Break of Day by @cntrl15 // 3.6k, T // Bellatrix/Narcissa
Summary: Obsession is a kind of romance, and there's no line at all between self-sacrifice and self-destruction.
The author did a really cool thing here with the wordcount: it's a drabble anthology series with the first day's being 100 words, the second 100 more than that, and so on, with eight consecutive @sapphicmicrofics prompts from the month of June. Given all of that, I'm even more in awe of the fact that they've managed to tell such a luscious, well-paced, smartly plotted story. It's so compelling, the descriptions so rich, ughhh the author's talent for painting a picture with their words leaves me speechless. Chapter 5, Petting Zoo, is one of my favorites (ah why yes I do like my angst).
Flying Lessons by @phantomato // 2k, T // Andromeda/Rolanda
Summary: Andromeda takes Teddy to flying lessons so Harry doesn’t get that, too.
Another fic tagged Grief/Mourning, another first person POV fic, and such a good one. Loved the themes and motifs here, how Andromeda’s relationships to her hair and her body reflect where she’s at on the topics of family and grief and love. She’s a particular favorite of mine as she’s got such an interesting story—she’s seen it all, really, from pre-Marauders gen to post-canon, love to grief, birth and death. She’s got so many sides to her, which makes her such a fascinating character through which to explore grief—and this fic has so neatly selected some of these threads to tell an incredible tale of healing and recovery. All the love for flawed people just trying to get by.
The Velveteen Rabbit by @saintsenara // 3k, G // Mrs Cole, Tom Riddle
Summary: A boy has scarlet fever and wants his mother. He gets Mrs Cole instead.
Have a canon-compliant look at Tom Riddle’s Wool’s childhood through Mrs Cole’s eyes. Feel bad for the underresourced and overstretched matron, who’s mother to none and yet has too many children to raise, feed and clothe and supervise; feel even worse for the poor child, for all he’s lacking and all he’s lost. The voice, the worldbuilding, the details of the time period were wonderful—truly such an immersive reading experience; this felt much longer than it was (or maybe it was the number of times I reread it!)—but most of all I loved the bits of Tom characterization the author’s cleverly managed to sneak in through unsuspecting Mrs Cole’s POV. Always love an unreliable narrator!
