Lorcan with a pregnant mate

Protective wouldn't even cut it. The moment Lorcan realizes that you are pregnant it is over for everyone. And it is he who finds out about the babe first.

I just picture it being early in the morning. The sun is barely out, and the horizon just starting to clear up. But Lorcan is already up, even if he has a chance to sleep in. He's so used, too used to training early in the morning. Too used to having no one besides him. No one seeking out his love. No one he would want to hold later into the day. And even if you two had been mated for some time he still finds it surreal. Still flinches sometimes, while sleep is still heavily clouding his mind, when he sees or feels your body pressed to him. Never did he feel honorable enough or worth the love but here you are, sprawled out on the bed next to him, arms wrapped around his middle as you snuggle into his side.

That would be the morning when Lorcan would sense that something had shifted. A light frown on his face as he looks down on you. The first thing that would cross his mind is that he sensed the sickness that had been keeping you in bed for the past couple of days. That was worrisome in itself, considering that you had never been so sick before. And so he would fear that it's the sign of it all getting worse. Instantly reaching to put a palm over your forehead, yet finding it as cold as ever.

Then Lorcan would frown some more. Feeling frustrated that with so many years of living, he still can't reach within his senses and grasp the core of what he's feeling. That's until he moves to hold you even closer to him, wanting to grant you the warmth of his body, knowing how much you enjoy feeling him this close. Lorcan's hand comes in touch with your side and his body freezes.

To someone passing by, even to the rest of the family, this might seem like nothing. No one would notice it but Lorcan, Lorcan knows every inch of you. He had memorized every curve, dip, mark, and scar there. His fingers slide slightly lower, moving to care for the lower half of your stomach, where he is convinced a light bump had started to form. His eyes dart up to your face as if you were there looking, ready to tell him that he isn't seeing things, yet he finds you still fast asleep.

Then it all suddenly makes sense. You snuggle to his side during lunch, yawning lightly as you hug his muscly arm, resting your head on his shoulder. You getting frustrated when Lorcan rearranged the blankets on your shared bed. The constant puking and dizziness. The lack of energy. It wasn't because you had caught an illness, you were carrying a worrier. His babe, your babe. A child.

Yet the beauty of it all would be crushed by his past suddenly swirling frantically in front of his eyes. All the fea he had killed, the tricks he had pulled, everyone he had harmed and mistreated. All the blood that coated his hands. How could he hold something so innocent in them? How could he have been a part of creating something like that? He is surrounded by death and distraction. No, he is that. And here you lay with a babe growing in your stomach.

The fear clenches Lorcan's throat and he suddenly jumps up, breath hitching. It's as if he had forgotten that you were pressed to his side at all. His sudden movements would startle you, eyes almost immediately noticing the dark mist crawling all over the room.

"Lor", you would call out softly, hand moving to run over his bare back. His muscles would tense at your touch, making you frown. You knew about his nightmares, being sure that he had gotten one now, you move up slightly, pressing a kiss to his shoulder blades as you snuggle against his back. You know that words won't bring him back, it's the touch that does.

Lorcan would reach for your palm, bringing it from behind him and over to his chest, to rest where his heart was beating rapidly. "You...", he mutters, before turning to face you, "You're with child", his black eyes now staring straight at you. Your hand would instantly fall onto your stomach. Tears welling up in your eyes when the thought of it all starts to set in. Lorcan would cup the back of your head, bringing you closer to him, kissing your temple, "I love you", he would mutter, "Both of you".

He would try to mask the scent of pregnancy with his smell from the start. Partly because he didn't want to share this with anyone yet, and since you were still rather unwell, he knew that no one would question it. However, hiding it for long wasn't something you could do. Because witho a couple of weeks, you had a bump, since well your 7-foot mate had put a true worrier baby in you.

Did breaking the news to the family went well? Haha... No. Fea males are territorial bastards as they are. Add a pregnant mate to the mix and you have a never stopping killing machine, ready to end the world. So the moment everyone breaks into cheers, Lorcan's face switches. He's too occupied by Rowan, who's clasping his shoulder to notice that Fenrys had wrapped his arms around you, lifting you slightly. The next thing you know, however, is Fenrys being pressed against the wall with a knife practically cutting his throat.

The room dies down. Rowan steps in front of you, just in case but you are quick to push past him. "Lower that right now", you growl at your mate, finger pointed right at him. Yet Lorcan doesn't back away, breathing heavily still, "Lorcan Salvaterre, for the love of maker, I swear you'll be sleeping outside our bedroom door". Someone behind you giggles lightly, but your frown doesn't ease up. Not until Lorcan steps back. Fenrys fixes his shirt quickly, not wasting a second to get away. You catch his hand as he moves to walk past you, giving it a little squeeze, to which the wolf smiles at.

A part of you understands Lorcan. For a fact most of this is primal, something he can't help. He is a protector of the family. You are his world and with so much being taken from him in the past you can't blame him for feeling the need to chase everyone away. Yet you still shake your head at him.

Not much changes as you get further along with your pregnancy. The more you show the less Lorcan lets you do. He had caught you one night climbing the kitchen counters for cookies. You had never seen the color draining from his face faster. Lorcan had crossed the distance between you in a heartbeat. Strong hands cupped your hips as he lowered you back down. "I'll tie you to the bed", he growls, reaching for the jar himself, "I dear you", you click your tongue at him. "Don't tempt me, dove", you snatch the jar out of his hands but soon the frown is replaced by a grin as your sugar rushes through your system. "I just want to keep you safe", Lorcan brushed the loose strand of hair away from your face, watching you eat. You nod at his words, "I know but I can't be locked up. Plus the dagger you put all over the room... ain't too child friendly".

He does ease up slightly around the others. He's fine with the girls being next to you and smothering you with love. It's the males he doesn't fully trust, even if most of them had been his friends for quite some years. Rowan and Gavriel had read that message. Made sure to know the limit and if they did touch you, to keep it light and back up as soon as they could so they wouldn't tick Lorcan off. It's Fenrys who had found immense pleasure in rilling up the big scary worrier.

You two had been close beforehand. Both had that crackhead energy and messed around. So Fenrys is close second to Lorcan when it comes to protecting you but it's the anger that he can light in Lorcan that gives him the biggest thrill. "Are you done?", Lercan asks, crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance. The dinner had just finished and the white wolf had been desperately trying to feel the baby kick. Fenrys lifts his head from your bump slightly, before lowering it back down, "No". Lorcan lets out a growl but that doesn't seem to faze Fenrys, because he knows that you would back him in this. "Then be done with it", Lorcan says through gritted teeth, but that only makes Fenrys grin more, "No".

Cursed Child redo

Just started over from scratch since our new bad guys are from the Lovecraftian school Miskatonic in the US. Plus, give us some Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff rep!

James Sirius Potter: Eldest son of Harry and Ginny. A braggart who is proud of the legacy he holds and wants to be the best-- especially in Quidditch! As a result he assumes the other houses are not the best and he picks on others like Albus and Scorpius. As a result of this bullying, Albus lashed out and cursed off his eye. Harry was furious, but Albus narrowly escaped getting expelled and was punished through alternative means. James was beside himself, he wasn't always like this. A combination of pressure to be perfect and his closeted homosexuality were something that was weighing heavily on him. Then his father went on a mission to the US to uncover the secrets to a strange school called Miskatonic University where allegedly students of a wizard or muggle background were enlisted together. But something wasn't right, students and aurors alike were going missing.... and Harry Potter hasn't returned either. James enlisted himself under Ilvermorny's exchange program in hopes of finding his father. However the cocky Gryiffindor was going to be in for something much bigger than mere kidnappings.

Albus Severus Potter: Middle child of the Potter family. Albus was worried about what house he'd be sorted into. Gryffindor or Slytherin. But the hat noticed how much the young boy would over think about everything and spat him out in Ravenclaw. Albus was stunned and felt unsure, nothing was going to plan and he worried if something was wrong. Feeling lost too he befriended Scorpius Malfoy. Despite their families complicated history he found Scorpius to be a good emotional rock in his life while they both related to things not going to plan. Eventually they embraced their house despite the earfuls they got from their families. One day Albus had heard about a portrait that was left empty. That portrait was of Severus Snape, dubbed hero of Hogwarts much like Dumbledore and immortalized. His painting was supposed to be a sign of good luck now that the curse on Defense Against the Dark Arts class was lifted. Feeling the need to meet one of his namesakes he tested fate and introduced himself to the painting hoping Snape would appear. At first he was disappointed and was about to leave when suddenly a voice told him to stay put. Snape finally came into his frame. He was amused that Harry had named one of his sons after him, even with a middle name. Albus would confide in Snape's portrait and share his thoughts and troubles to him. In time he saw Snape more like a father than Harry. He was easier to talk to and relate to. He battled with worries that he wasn't living up to his father's expectations. Snape softened up around him and would give him words of encouragement, especially after he accidentally cursed off Jame's eye. As soon as his father went missing-- followed by his brother, Albus felt the need to rescue them both to prove himself. But he would not be going alone.

Lily Luna Potter (Lily-lu for short): The youngest of the Potter family. Taking after her granny, Lily loves to make friends and saw the good in just about everyone she meets. Her best friend being the demi-giant Hibiscus Hagrid. At home she acts as the peacemaker to try and sooth the heavy arguments James and Ablus get into. The results are mixed, given that she's the youngest and seldom anyone listens to the youngest of the family. That is until she plays her wizard lute. She quickly found she had a talent for music and this would make everyone in the room feel better. She can't stand conflict and feels music helps a lot. With her brothers going abroad to find their father she and her friends are now faced with the equally scary task of uncovering students from the US trying to body snatch hogwarts students.

Teddy Lupin: So of the late Remus Lupin and Tonks. Godson to the potters. In his youth he'd frequent between his grandma's domain and the Potters. Until his grandma's untimely death, Harry and Ginny took Teddy as their own. He became a sort of foster big brother to James, Albus, and Lily. He was chill and liked making others laugh, but he knew how to settle conflicts over a nice batch of chocolate. He graduated from Hogwarts and is now the head of Hufflepuff house acting as a TA for the new Professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Trocar the vampire. During his time at Hogwarts he fell in love with Victoire and upon graduation they're now engaged to be married soon.

Hibiscus Hagrid: Daughter of Rubeus Hagrid and Olympe Maxine. The two half giants were on and off again until after the conflict of the wizarding war blew over and they got married. Hibiscus was one of the only half giant students going to Hogwarts. Her mother would fly back to France for her school and Hagrid would still tend to the beasts on the castle grounds. Hibiscus like her papa loved animals. When trying to find a familiar she couldn't pick one and ended up with 5. 2 cats, 2 owls and a toad. Seeing as Hagrid's house is close by she'd always trade out her critter between classes. That way no one feels left out. She'd always make time to have tea with her papa and soon Lily-- or Lily-lu she'd nickname her would come along. One day she discovered a dragon's egg in a poacher's camp and it hatched. Unsure of what to do she kept the little dragon in her pocket, seeing as it was the size of a salamander at the time. She'd feed it marshmallows to help keep her belly full for classes. She named the dragon Willow.... and Willow was getting bigger. She dreaded the day she'd have to turn the little orphan dragon loose.

Rose Weasley: Daughter of Hermione and Ron. Being the daughter of the minister of magic, she expected nothing else than to be in the exact house her parents were in. To her horror she ended up in Slytherin. She about had a fit, but the hat dubbed her worthy as one and she was ushered into her house. Rose thought this was the worst thing ever and worried how her parents would react that their witty girl didn't get into Gryffinfdor. But as it turned out she found some of her cousins there too. She became friends with Erin who helped her adjust and see things from a different point of view. Slytherin house was very different from what is was in the past. Where as she heard stories about pure blood extremists she found very clever and insightful people. Perhaps not all Slytherins were bad.... But her prejudice flared up when she saw her cousin befriending a Malfoy. She'd shout and tell Scorpius to back off thinking he was going to send Albus down a dark path, but slowly found that wasn't the case. Once again Rose began to contemplate that in her fears of finding bullies she ended up being one. She eased up on her temper and found a healthy spot to be in over time. But as soon as her uncle Harry went missing she turned to her father. Ron was once the Watson to Harry's Sherlock, they were a great team until Ron got into an accident and a dark wizard got away. He stepped down to recover and would work with his brother at Zonko's Joke shop. Once his leg healed Ron felt like he had the fight taken out of him. Was he just slowing everyone down? Should he just be a stay at home dad and watch the kids? The man was in a state of doubt and it sparked some tension in his and Hermione's marriage. Rose worried if she screwed up it would make her parents get divorced. It wasn't true, but it worried her to death. Something her little brother didn't seem to catch. Still she got word about Harry going missing and told her father she, James, Albus, and Scorpius had to go and find him. Ron was hesitant to get his daughter and nephews involved, but he vowed he'd watch over them and bring back Harry Potter. He could finally prove himself he wasn't an old fart who lost his spark.

Hugo Weasley: Son of Hermione and Ron. The scruffy joker of a boy became fast friends with his cousin James. He'd act as his hype man at every turn. But when he wasn't in James's shadow he was tending to his house elf friend, Yo-yo. After his mother freed the house elves from bondage, there had been a new generation of house elves who were born free and wore clothes like the wizards and goblins. Yo-yo couldn't get a wand-- didn't need one really, but he wanted to go to Hogwarts like all the other wizards. So Hugo had him hide in his book bag so he could see what wizard life was like. Hugo despite being a touch naive himself felt the need to protect Yo-yo. This would get them into danger sometimes.

Scorpius Malfoy: Son of Draco and Astoria. Scorpius was the first Malfoy in generations to end up anyway else but Slytherin. Given his family's reputation Scporius is used to having people assume the worst in him. But seeing as he got sorted into Ravenclaw he was hoping to prove everyone wrong. And to kick it all off he befriended Albus. The two got into Astronomy and would spend hours at night trying to spot the constellations in their dorm. Scorpius was cool headed and clever and as soon as Harry went missing he jumped at the chance to help his best friend. He has a crush on Rose, but it's gonna take some time before she'll like him back.

Griselda Trelawney: Daughter of Sybill Trelawney and Omar Amid. Her father died when she was little and her mother supposedly saw visions of something dreadful befalling Griselda. From her two colored eyes, the star birthmarks on her back, even her beauty mark. All of these were supposed to be signs for different outcomes. As a result it left her with a lot of depression. No one could tell if her mom was telling the truth or was just old and senile. She confided in her partner Dominique who could somehow pull her out of her funk and be happy for once.

Hilda Longbottom: Daughter of Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbot. Being the daughter of the current Herbology teacher and the Land lady of the Leaky Cauldron, Hilda became a feisty Gryffindor. She was aware of folks poking fun at her softy of a dad-- despite him slaying Nagini-- and would sick her cane toad familiar at students she felt needed to be taught a lesson. She didn't care if she got detention, she had 0 tolerance for bullying. Hugo has a huge crush on her.

Lysander and Lorcan Scamander: Sons of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander. Arguably the new Weasley twins in spirit. Despite being sorted in different houses the twins act in sync almost like stoners. Being related to the famous Newt Scamander they both gravitate to the care for magical beasts. They want to be wizard vets when they graduate.

Molly and Lucy Weasley: Daughters of Percy and Audrey. Also fellow Weasley's who got sorted into Slytherin. Molly is their current prefect and head girl, she sets strict rules and expects everyone to follow them. Her twin Lucy, being a fellow prefect is more lax about the rules and even encourages them to be broken. This results in massive heated debates between the two sisters.

Erin Chang Campbell: Daughter of Cho Chang and a Muggle, Mr. Campbell. Erin was a quiet girl who was gifted with potions. She helped befriend Rose while she got situated at Slytherin and showed her Slytherin wasn't so bad to be in.

Victoire, Dominique, and Louis Weasley: Victoire is a Ravenclaw graduate and fiance to Teddy Lupin. She acts as an assistant for Minerva McGonagall. She's an animagus who can turn into a swan. Her siblings and cousins would joke she's the swan princess from Swan Lake. Dominique is a Gryffindor senior and is transitioning from girl to boy. Currently dating Griselda. And Louis is a werewolf. He accidentally got bitten by his father but tries to not let that hold him back. Best friends with Jahnu.

Freddie and Roxanne Weasley: Son and Daughter of George and Angelina. Two cunning pranksters who are trying to bring some fun back into Gryffindor. They befriended Peeves and are on the lookout for their uncle's ghost who apparently haunts around the clock tower. They hope to find him so their father can have some closer.

Harbeth and Apus Finnegan: Sons of Seamus Finnegan and Lily Moon. Both are of Irish and Korean decent. Apus loves food and wants to work at Honeydukes when he graduates. Biggest of all he wants to add more flavors from Korea to his confections to make brand new wizard candy. However his confections still have a lot of progress to go. When they're food, they're really good-- when they're bad things tend to go BOOM. Harbeth is his designated taste tester, often accident prone but willing to try-try again. Both are on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Both have a tendency to raid the Hogwarts kitchens while no on is looking.

Freya Onai Wood: Daughter of Oliver Wood and best keeper in Ravenclaw's Quidditch team.

Jahnu Thomas: Son of Dean Thomas and Parvati Patel, best quiddich player for Slytherin house and rival to James.

rose: she believes she deserves everything in life, and naturally she’ll get everything she wants bc shes awesome. like if something doesn’t go her way it’s literally never her fault. she’ll blame it on the most randomest things before she ever thinks to accept responsibility. it’s not her fault dark reunion is out to get her.

james: he’s not delulu he’s just actually delusional. about literally everything. not in the funny haha way. it’s causing him so much strife, somebody please ground this poor man.

albus: i’m sorry but he does have main character syndrome despite going on and onnn about how he doesn’t want attention and he doesn’t want people looking at him. he absolutely does want it he just doesn’t want people thinking about him as only a side character to his dad’s plot. he’s differenttttt guyssssss he’s so much more interestingggg 🙄

scorpius: king of delulu. like every type of delulu. have you ever seen any interaction with him and rose (“she told me to go eat rocks she wants me soooo bad 🤭”). do you remember the nicknames he gave himself. do you remember how his go-to plan was screeching at a newborn infant when he and al got stuck in time. and then he just carries on with his life like that all ain’t nothing. this is all such unreal levels of delusion it’s almost inspiring.

delphi: also unreal levels of delusion but it’s not inspiring it’s just concerning. i think the entire plot of hpcc would go under this.

teddy: so delulu it’s sort of sweet. and it’s for sure completely in the way young teenage girls use ‘delulu’ when talking about their crushes like he will get excited if his crush sends him one 1️⃣ look. he’s convincing himself that the celebrity they thirst over sort of looks like him kinda 🤔. he’s doing the name compatibility and zodiac compatibility and mbti compatibility tests online. he’s getting a palm reading done to see if they end up together. he’s writing “me and x are getting married” 300 times in his diary as a manifestation.

victoire: i feel like delulu is a scale in the shape of a horseshoe, stay with me yall. like on one side you have very delusional and that’s like scorpius level of goofiness. and that’s like comfortable delusion, in the clouds sort of delusion. and then on the other side, you’re so hyperaware of everything happening in life and all of your flaws and problems that i wouldn’t even call it grounded, at this point you’ve sunk through the ground and you’re just dangling there. to the point where this is also being delusional but you think you’re too aware to be it, and on that side you have james. and the people who are the least delusional are in the middle of the horseshoe and walk along the balance. and that’s victoire except she’s holding on for dear life to not get knocked either way. smiling through the pain though.

lorcan: lorcan will say the most mortifying thing imaginable or act super embarrassingly against his will to someone and as a coping mechanism he will actively convince himself that what he did wasnt that bad or he will comfort himself by thinking of scenarios where he did something different, so vividly to the point where he almost believes it.

lily: she’ll see a professional stunt artist or a oil painter with years of experience or a seasoned dragon trick rider and she won’t ever be impressed because she genuinely believes she could do all of that. “my toxic trait is that i think i can” ahhh.

lysander: if you look at him without an overly friendly expression on your face he’s going to believe you’re an opp.

hugo: he thinks he’s a good dancer bless his heart

roxanne: she genuinely thinks she’s a suave jock but she keeps tripping on air

dominique: when caught out in a lie during an argument, she immediately switched to “believe what you want to believe” and exits. she’ll still believe she was right too. #womeninmaledominatedfields

He is also the older twin to his brother Lorcan, stepson of Neville Longbottom and stepbrother to Frank and Alice Longbottom

Lysander is a Hufflepuff and proud

Lysander likes to be called Lys or Sander for short

When he and Lorcan were babies, his mom and dad were always arguing, and it got worse as the twins got older

Rolf and Luna tried to hide it from the twins, but Lysander would notice it and try to shield his brother from the arguments

It wasn't until the twins were 5 that their parents divorced

The twins have known the Longbottoms before their parents got together, and the twins, especially Lysander, loved them like family

Lysander is the older twin between him and Lorcan

He will say what's on his mind (most of the time is unintentional)

He and Lorcan are very close, and Lys would never let an argument get between him and his brother

Lorcan is more a father's son, but he also loves his grandfather, Newt, and has read 'Fantastic beasts and where to find them' cover to cover about a thousand times

But he loves his mother even more and Neville as well

When he and Lysander were babies, they both had platinum blonde hair, but as they grew older, both their hair became darker, which is what separated their appearance

Like Rolf, Lorcan has a creative writing flame and writes in the school paper, and he even made his own blog where he tries to bring awareness to a lot of topics

since nuna (neville x luna) are and have been one of my otps since i first became part of the hp fandom, whenever i write next gen lorcan and lysander scamander are actually lorcan and lysander longbottom and they're neville and luna's kids. but recently i had an idea for the twins that i love even more

so whenever i write next gen, lorcan and lysander also have a younger sister named alice who's 6 years younger than them. in my head, alice looks a lot like neville and the twins both look mostly like luna. i also have an oc named ivan scamander who is rolf and hannah abbott's, and he's 3 years younger than the twins.

so what if, instead of the twins being neville's from the start, they're from luna's first marriage to rolf?

luna and rolf meet and become friends when rolf returns to hogwarts for his eighth year. they get married soon after graduation, even though they're mostly just good friends. they have the twins together and when the twins are a year old, they end up divorcing.

pretty soon after rolf and hannah meet at the leaky cauldron and start talking. to be honest, hannah getting pregnant is sort of a surprise, and rolf definitely shows up at luna's in a panic when he finds out. he and hannah end up deciding to keep the kid though, aka ivan scamander.

around the same time that ivan is born, luna and neville run into each other at some event or something and start talking again. they write letters back and forth about plants and theories and the latest edition of the quibbler before neville finally works up the courage to ask her out (with a lot, and i mean a lot, of encouragement from harry and ginny) and they start dating. they get married after 2 years and alice is born another year later.

all of that is to say, lorcan and lysander are ivan's half siblings and also have a younger half-sister named alice, and i think that's great

honestly i see rolf as sort of a mess, especially with this au, so he may or may not also get divorced from hannah at some point. idk who he'd date after that - i'm thinking one of the background hufflepuff boys (justin, ernie, or zacharias)

ravenclaws were supposed to be smart, right? intellectual, wise, intelligent and stuff. real nerds with top grades and bright futures as some of the most renowned wizards in the world. well, apparently, that was not the path that had been cut out for you. you were a ravenclaw, yet you were anything but smart and your grades were definitely not outstanding. you struggled a lot, always needed extra help and for the professors to explain everything twice to you. the fact that being good at school didn't come naturally to you took a great toll on you and you always questioned whether the sorting hat might've made a mistake all those years ago. you never really felt like you belonged to ravenclaw and that you never really fit into the description of the typical smart and cunning blue-robed student. today was an especially tough day. you had messed up immensely in class, had broken one of the pots in herbology and snapped the little plant that was growing inside of it right in half. professor longbottom didn't deduct any points from your house, luckily he was just too kind for that, but you definitely saw that he was a bit emotional about the killed plant. you were so embarrassed and had felt so bad, you had apologized over and over to your herbology professor, all while your classmates just stood and laughed at you. and to only make it worse, you had overheard your fellow housemates talk bad about you. "she's so stupid, did you see what she did in herbology today? I swear to god, she only has two fucking brain cells left and both of them are occupied with fashion and makeup." "really, she doesn't deserve to be in ravenclaw. she's so dense, it's sickening." and that hadn't even been everything that they had said about you. they had called you a "bimbo" and a "stupid fucking people pleaser". now you were crying in your room. you had been, for the past 15 minutes actually. eventually, lorcan scamander, your tutor for practically everything that you could still be helped in, had found you in your dorm and had apparently decided he wanted to join in on your crying session. "what's wrong, lovey? why are you crying?", he asked and the evident worry and concern in his voice only made you cry more. he sat down on your bed, right next to your sobbing figure and gently pulled you into his arms, hugging you. "tell me, what happened?", he softly inquired. you shook your head, too embarrassed to share it with him. you knew lorcan didn't think you were stupid or that you weren't a real ravenclaw, he would never, he was too kind. but for some stupid reason you were still scared that he might change his mind and end up agreeing with the others, because as much as you wanted to perfectly fit into your house, you simply didn't. you didn't fit in. your sobs had now subsided to small hiccups and you were disentangling yourself from lorcan's hug. "lorcan, I'm fine, thanks for being concerned but it's really alright.." he frowned, not buying your bullshit. "you were crying, heavily may I add. you're not alright." you sighed, running your fingers through your hair. you could still feel his eyes on you, piercing into you to find a reason for your upset state.

lorcan had always been an analyser, quick to figure people out and quick to know whether they could be trusted or not. he was quiet and reserved and he only ever hung around his small, selected group of friends who he had basically known since he was born. all of them were extremely smart, skilled in academics and from a respected household. you were a bit intimidated by them, to be honest. it was a wonder lorcan even talked to you. not that you weren't nice, it was mostly just because he kept to himself and could be very closed off. you were pretty much an open book, wearing your heart on your sleeve and wanting to befriend everyone. you were kind, caring and sweet but you weren't exactly the smartest. even though you wore the blue and silver tie, your highest grades were only ever A's (acceptable) or P's (poor).

a few months ago, lorcan found you sobbing after getting back the test results from divination, where you had gotten a T (troll). he comforted you and offered to tutor you in that subject, which soon turned into him helping you in all of the subjects, seeing as your grades were not exactly good in any of them. you often told him he didn’t have to and that you didn't want to be a burden to him. school alone was already pretty exhausting and tutoring you on top was an extra weight he didn't need to pull. he told you to stop that nonsense and that he liked teaching you.

him tutoring you followed the two of you hanging out after school a bit. you were different from the usual type of people he hung out with, much more extroverted and a lot more focused on just living life rather than succeeding all the time. he liked it, it was refreshing and fun. every time he hung out with you, he felt like you were this bundle of light and joy, happy and bubbly and fun to spend time with.

but now it seemed like your light had been completely dimmed. looking into your eyes, lorcan only found a pool of sadness and hurt and it broke his heart.

"please talk to me", he pleaded. "I want to know what's going on with you, so I can help. please."

he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, letting his hand linger for a bit. he wiped away another fallen tear that had escaped your eye. you knew he was waiting for an answer.

"fine", you huffed. "I overheard some girls talking about me, calling me a bimbo, dense and lots of other horrible stuff. basically saying I don't belong in ravenclaw."

lorcan's face had gone blank and you could see how hardly he was trying to surpress his anger, for your sake. he exhaled heavily, thinking before speaking, taking his time. he was always very careful with his words.

after a while, he finally spoke, an ernest yet empathetic expression on his face.

"look, I'm so sorry the girls in our house are so rude and that they're saying these unbelievably untrue things about you. I'm also sorry you believe them, because they couldn't be more wrong, love."

he sighed as he noticed tears welling up in your eyes again. he pulled you into his arms once more, your back now against his and your head against his chest. he shifted you so you were in a comfortable position in your bed, his back against the headboard and you slumped against him. he started playing with your hair, a comforting act that he did every time he had to console you after you didn't pass an exam.

"listen closely when I tell you this, okay?"

you nodded, curious as to what he'd say.

"I still remember the first time we hung out after a tutor session. you'd convinced me to go to hogsmeade with you because the christmas season had just started and you were so excited to go and see the lights and decorations. when we wandered around town, you were so happy the entire time, lighting up at every single decorated window you saw. you were glowing. and I've seen you like this other times as well. one time, you brought a new pencil to tutoring and you were basically ecstatic because it was pink and it lit up when you wrote with it. it was just a little pencil from zonko's but it still made you so happy."

the two of you were chuckling now, amused at the memory lorcan had recounted.

"you have the amazing ability to find joy in the little things in life. I envy you for it, actually. you're focused on just living life and finding happiness along the way. when I first met you, you weren't so worried about succeeding in school all of the time, until your grades got a little worse and I started tutoring you... yeah, you got more ambitious, I'll give you that but you also lost a bit of that spark"

you tensed, knowing that you'd gotten more stressed over the last few months. your academic performance hadn't really gotten better and your feeling of being an impostor in ravenclaw had increased. lorcan noticed your switch in emotions and quickly kept talking, not wanting to make you more upset.

"I want you to know that being good in school isn't everything. I know you've been so focused on it the last few month and you've been working so hard and I'm truly proud of you. I just don't want you to lose yourself in it. I know me and my friends have. sure, we're good at school and get good grades, but it doesn't exactly make us happy. most of us wish we'd have what you have. the ability to not base one's happiness on success but to simply be happy because life is a happy thing.In 3 years, nobody will care what grades you got in school, love. so, please, don't lose your adorable self over it."

he gave you a kiss on top of your head, ruffling your hair. it made you blush a little bit.

"and especially don't listen to what those nasty girls have got to say. they've got no idea what they're talking about."

he said the last part with a bit more harshness, the anger evident in his voice. it brought a little smile to your face. you felt better after what he had said and you didn't know how you had deserved him.

you turned around to face him and took his hands in yours.

"thank you, lorcan. I truly don't know how you do it, but you manage to cheer me up everytime, like it's your super power or something." you chuckle, it makes him smile.

"oh, a few months of tutoring you and many many tears of yours over potions have taught me how. so, I guess you could say I have 'well acquired super powers'"

he shrugged and you laughed, feeling a bit lighter thanks to your lorcan.
