okay can we all agree that everyone finds Remus so so SO hot…. And then he speaks and only Sirius continues to care. Cause like, Remus is intelligent as fuck, charmingly witty at all times, and a great friend, but he is also a teenager in constant pain and with mood swings that would be studied by muggles as certifiably bonkers (not like any mood swings you’re thinking of. MUCH worse)

@jegulus-microfic | april 29 | prompt: fixate | words: 237
Remus couldn't understand why James had suddenly become so fixated on books. He was in and out of the bookstore almost every day. It first started on Lily's birthday. James had forgotten to buy her a gift and just went to a random bookstore near her house. Since then, Remus has noticed James buying a new book every week. James hated reading, so why would he go to a bookstore so often?
James was late for his shift again, so Remus decided to text him. Then he realised he could see James' location on Snapchat. Sirius had forced Remus to download it, but it had one good use. He could track Sirius and James.
Upon checking James' location, he realised that James was at that bookstore. Again. Remus decided to go to this bookstore himself. What was so great about it?
Remus reached the bookstore and peeked through the window, and there was James, chatting with the cashier. The cashier had short black hair and grey eyes, kind of like Sirius'. He smirked at something James had said. Remus then realised what was going on. James fancied the cashier. No wonder he's been emptying his wallet on books for the last three weeks.
Just as Remus was about to leave, he noticed James lean in for a kiss. He sighed with a smile and walked back to his car. James probably wasn't going to make his shift that evening.

@jegulus-microfic
20 / haunted / 208 words
“I think we should break up,” Regulus said suddenly, looking at his boyfriend across the dining table.
James sputtered. “W-what, why?” He looked devastated, eyes haunted.
“Maybe we’re just too different,” Regulus replied, shrugging.
“We’re complementary,” James argued. “There’s a difference.”
“We just don’t get along anymore,” Regulus tried next.
“We do,” James said, nodding his head vehemently. He wasn’t gonna be swayed easily. “Our relationship hasn’t changed in ten years.”
“Fine, we’re stagnant.”
James rolled his eyes, fear replaced by humor now, by the knowledge that Regulus wasn’t breaking up with him, but that he had some making up to do, somewhere.
“Fuck, I forgot to say no pickles, didn’t I?”
“Yes, James, and it makes the entire bun taste like pickles,” Regulus huffed, prodding at the cheeseburger that James had picked up for him. “It’s disgusting.”
James smiled at him before standing from the table. “I think we have some buns in the fridge, I'll go toast one and switch it out.” He grabbed the food from in front of Regulus, bending down and pressing a kiss to his lips. “You would never leave me.” James smirked before turning and walking over to the fridge.
“I know,” Regulus sighed to himself. “I would never want to.”

Barty Crouch jr. who was smarter than his father ever could be. Who could remember an entire text book after just a night. Barty would spend years pretending he was stupid just to spite his dad until Dorcas pointed out it would be better to beat the old man at his own game. Barty was never favored by any of teachers, he was a slytherin who was loud and cruel and a know-it-all if you got his started. He never got a McGonnagal to be concerned for him when he came back after breaks far to quiet and would jump a foot in the air any time someone pointed a wand at him. There were no adults who cared when he decided to be angry instead of scared. He wasn't James Potter with a blinding smile and a heart big enough to care for everyone around him. He wasn't Regulus either, who could detach with vicious cruelty and a reputation to match. He was just Barty the boy set to live in a man shadow despite being so much more than his father could ever dream of.

jegulus microfic // words: 681
the morning after halloween
Regulus cracks an eye open and immediately squeezes it shut again. “Jamie,” he croaks, voice rough with disuse. “The sun. Make it disappear at once.”
James laughs and Regulus wants to burrow in the sound the way he burrows in the sheets. “You want me to remove it from the sky?” James asks.
“Yes.”
“Anything for you, my love.” The bed dips as James moves to stand, shuffling over to the curtains and tugging them shut. He crawls back underneath the sheets, leaning close to press a kiss against Regulus’ forehead. “Good morning.”
“Is it?” Regulus asks. “A good morning?”
He finally forces his eyes open again, the room still too bright but no longer blinding. He feels stale. A tiredness in his joints that he knows will linger no matter how much he sleeps. He lets his lids droop shut again, unconcerned.
“Well, it’s technically three in the afternoon,” James says. “You slept for about nine hours.”
He starts carding a hand through Regulus’ hair. It’s probably greasy from last night still, but Regulus doesn’t care. Too desperate to be coddled right now to give a shit about anything else.
“Next year, don’t let Barty convince me to sign up for Fright Night.”
Because Barty’s powers of persuasion are terrifying and Regulus always ends up on the volunteer list for Fright Night. This year, he manned the haunted house.
He can’t imagine what would happen to the world if Barty used his powers for good. Or for literally anything beyond defying his father.
”You told me that last year as well but when I tried, you specifically signed up out of spite.”
Regulus sighs. He did do that. “I need to stop doing that.”
“You do,” James agrees, but he sounds fond when he says, “You’re a spiteful little thing.”
“You love me for it.” Regulus nudges his head up against James’ hand, trying to get James to move again. A huff of laughter stirs a few strands of hair, but James dutifully resumes.
“I do.” Regulus suppresses the happy shiver that courses through his body, still unused to the free flow of affection. No strings attached, just provided to him unconditionally. He thinks his body still needs to adjust. Learn to accommodate all that love, even after a few years.
Regulus can hear a smile in James’ voice as he continues with, “Also, you looked really fucking scary this year. I think I nearly punched you in the face when you popped out of the wall.”
“Thank you,” Regulus says, far too pleased.
“I didn’t see the Terror Twins, though.” It’s James' preferred nickname for Barty and Evan, even if they look nothing alike. “Were they in a different section? Or on break?”
Regulus blinks, opening his eyes to look at James. What a sight to behold. His hair is mussed and messy, his glasses sit low on his nose.
He’s shirtless even though fall has been creeping in for a while now. James is somewhat of a furnace, always overheating, but Regulus doesn’t mind as he eyes the hickey that is fading on James’ collarbone.
A book lies discarded in James’ lap. He was probably reading to pass the time until Regulus woke up.
He'd already been asleep when Regulus got home, a light still on and that same book on the floor where it tumbled out of James' hand, Regulus loved him for it.
“No,” he murmurs once he’s looked his fill. “I think they were up to something that is less scary and more traumatizing to witness.”
“Ah.”
Regulus stifles a laugh at the vague look of horror on James' face. “Ah,” he repeats.
James' hand stills again, but before Regulus can complain, James shifts to cup the back of Regulus' head instead. His eyes drop to Regulus' lips, gaze heavy. It drags all along Regulus' face and he feels it like a touch.
“You know,” James starts, “I’ve always been more of a visual learner...”
But he doesn’t get the chance to finish his sentence. There is no need. Regulus is already climbing into his lap.

Black brothers headcanon I need yall to hear me out on. I feel like I always see everyone saying that Sirius raised reg and protected him and all that, and I agree, mostly, because what if after Sirius turned 11 and went to hogwarts it switched. Regulus is saving Sirius, softening the blows, trying to calm Sirius when he can’t handle his own emotions because “mom and dad can’t see you like that”

hi guys I have some jegulus fluff for you
“Regulus Arcturus Black, you are ethereal.”
These are not the first words James Potter has said to Regulus Black, not by far, but they are certainly the nicest. Regulus, in fact, is not sure that anyone has said anything that nice to him, his entire life.
“Oh.” Unfortunately, Regulus has never been good at taking compliments. Instead, he buries his face in James’ shoulder to hide his blush.
He feels James chuckle, the sound vibrating through his chest and warming Regulus from the inside out. They’re on the Astronomy Tower, where they meet up almost every night now.
“It’s alright, love,” James murmurs, stroking Regulus’ hair. “It’s just a compliment, I’m sure you’ll survive.”
“I’m sure I won’t,” Regulus says dryly. The air around them is cool, but not cold. It will be, soon, though. Regulus makes a mental note to start bringing blankets.
James laughs out loud, and Regulus feels a spark of pride. James is laughing the way he does with his friends, when he’s completely relaxed, and Regulus made him feel that way.
“You are,” James murmurs, after a beat of silence. “Ethereal, I mean. You’re so beautiful I can’t speak sometimes.”
“Really?” Regulus rearranges himself so that he’s tucked under James’ arm, leaning his head on James’ shoulder.
“Obviously. And a bloody genius, too.”
Regulus’ cheeks warm. “I’m not that smart.”
“You’re smarter than me. And I’m very smart. You’re kind as well, did you know?”
Regulus snorts at that. “Right.”
“You are!” James protests. “Remember that time I was sad, so you brought me flowers just because?”
“You’re my boyfriend, that’s different.”
James huffs. “You send Sirius anonymous gifts when he’s upset.”
“He doesn’t know it’s me.” Regulus frowns. “How do you know it’s me?”
“I’ve seen you watching his reaction at mail times. You’re always smug when it cheers him up.”
Regulus scowls. “Fine. But that’s my brother.”
“You’re ignoring my point entirely,” James says. “You’re nice when it counts.”
“That’s not being nice, that’s just trying to make people happy.”
James snickers. “Hate to break it to you, love, but that is the definition of being nice.”
“Whatever.”
James leans his head on Regulus’, grabbing his hand. “Tell me about the stars.”
So, with their fingers tangled tightly between them, Regulus tells James the story of every constellation they can see from the Tower.
These moments are precious. Regulus knows there won’t be many more of them, so he enjoys them when he can.
War is coming.
It will not forgive.
