What Would You Do With the Konoha 12?

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve attempted to rewrite Naruto in the past and one of the first blockades I found was, surprisingly, how many different interesting directions the different characters could be taken in.

Let’s take Sakura Haruno for example. Would you keep her a medic ninja, a genjutsu master, a wood release user, or something else? Would you lean into how emotional she is or would you make her less sensitive over time? Would you make her a civilian child or from a prominent clan like Sasuke and Naruto? Would she keep Inner Sakura? How would you handle her rivalry with Ino, if you keep it, and her motivations? How would you handle her relationship with Sasuke? Would you lean into her femininity or make her more of a tomboy? Would you make her more like Naruto like in the original or would you try to make her more of the earth to Naruto and Sasuke’s sun and moon or some secret third option? And there are many more questions and decisions you could make with her character and role in the story, of course.

Because there are so many options for all of the Konoha 12 (plus others, but let’s not get in over our heads), I’m curious to see what choices different people might make. And now that I have an account on a very creativity-driven website, I can ask. So,

What would you do with/How would you write the Konoha 12 if you were rewriting Naruto?

You know how when you’re reading a comic and you can just hear a voice so clearly for a character? Like for me it’s always Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as Joker, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Khary Payton as Cyborg, etc. But for as many, many Nightwing comics as I’ve read, I just cannot read him in a consistent voice!

The best way I can describe it is this weird mix of BTAS, Young Justice, and Gotham Knights? Maybe a touch of DCAMU?? And oddly enough, a bit of the male Jedi Knight from SWTOR.

How do y'all imagine him?

Sometimes baby girl will have her tail loop and fold in a way that looks uncomfortable, and she always seems to appreciate me adjusting her coils to a more comfortable position- it's one of the odd little ways we bond. She could adjust it herself, sure, but she has come to enjoy me babying her and doting on her- and if it makes both of us happy what's the harm?

Anyway, Scoria had folded her tail over in a way that looked uncomfortable and I gently moved it with my finger from beneath the ball she was relaxing in, and then lifted my finger through the coil so she had a more relaxed loop. I was going to remove my finger but she gently held on to me, she wanted my finger to stay.

I know to many it will seem insignificant, but experiencing this small gesture makes me so happy. She wanted me to stay. She enjoys me being with her, and I'm not bothering her fussing over her. It's just, so many times as a pet care taker you wonder if your pet is happy, if they also love you and want you near. My little girl tells me every day, I love you, stay with me. And for a moment it was her turn to hold me. After a good snuggle of my finger for several minutes she changed her position but still loosely held it and snuggled me.

Sometimes the smallest gestures can mean so very much.
