I’m mostly staying off the Mouthwashing fandom bc I personally don’t want to put myself through whatever discourse is ever going on there. But know I love Anya and Mouthwashing is one of the best games I’ve played that had an SA survivor AND was respectful about it!! The abuse Anya suffered is never portrayed as a spectical for the audience to leer at. They use the art of implication VERY well, and in the end Anya gets to go out dignified. She’s not just Jimmy’s tradgic victim, she’s her own character who makes her own decisions. Jimmy doesn’t get to kill her, she expresses her own agency to do so. She’s also the one who kept the gun away from him for so long. Also she’s SO fucking strong, she’s so cool. Anya I love you.

Also the game’s overarching (but subtle) commentary on rape culture, enabling, and how capitalism almost makes a set dressing for it is peak.

i’ll go first:

Fulfilled a request and was not expecting it to get as big as it did, nor inspire/encourage people to write, and every once in a while it gets attention again and takes off, leaving me (gratefully) scratching my head. it’s my least fav thing i’ve written just because i don’t have that particular kink but apparently a lot of other people do lol. thank you very much for the appreciation of this fic, though. while i have fics with more notes, this is the one everyone talks to me about and has had the most profound effect. very honored despite the mind boggle and it also introduced so many of my friends on here to me. for all of that, i’d kiss this fic on the mouth.

The level of detail/number of little surprises in this game is just incredible. I managed to ask one (1!) question in the Astral Prism endgame scene and ended up in a back and forth with:

My tiefling ex girlfriend begging to become a mindflayer (to save me from becoming one)

My wizard boyfriend begging to blow himself up (to save me from becoming a mindflayer)

My githyanki BFF yelling at all of us, wondering why we’re arguing about who’s gonna become a mindflayer when we can just free the Prince and have him fix everything

It’s almost as good as having Wyll/Gale/Karlach with you in the mindflayer colony at the end of Act 2
