Uncle Moony and Siri 🌟
╰┈➤ 𝐈𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞, Uncle Moony and Uncle Siri visit
[Regulus Black x Fem Potter! reader]
warnings: Fluff
It was a quiet morning at the Potter-Black household, the kind that Y/N had learned to cherish. The storm from the night before had passed, leaving behind a crisp autumn breeze that drifted through the open windows. Harry sat cross-legged on the living room floor, carefully stacking his wooden blocks, his tongue peeking out in concentration.
Regulus was sitting in the armchair, a book in one hand, a cup of tea in the other, looking as composed as ever. Y/N was beside Harry on the rug, sorting through his toys when suddenly—
BANG. BANG. BANG.
The front door shook under the weight of impatient knocking.
Regulus barely looked up from his book. “I am not answering that,” he muttered, sipping tea.
Y/N sighed, already knowing who it was. “If we ignore him, he’ll just keep knocking louder.”
Sure enough—BANG. BANG. BA—
“Alright, alright!” Y/N called as she stood up and approached the door, throwing it open to reveal a very smug-looking Sirius Black, leaning casually against the frame.
“Why, hello there, darling sister-in-law,” Sirius greeted dramatically. “Your favorite Black has arrived.”
Behind him, Remus stood with a patient smile, holding a small box wrapped in brown paper. “I told him to knock like a normal person,” he said apologetically.
“I did knock like a normal person,” Sirius said, grinning as he stepped inside. “With enthusiasm.”
Y/N rolled her eyes but stepped aside to let them in.
At the sound of new voices, Harry perked up. His little face lit up, and he scrambled to his feet. “Uncle Siri! Uncle Moony!”
Sirius let out a bark of laughter as he scooped Harry up, spinning him in the air. “There’s my favorite kiddo! Getting bigger every time I see you, huh?”
Harry giggled wildly, his tiny hands gripping onto Sirius’s robes. “Faster, Uncle Siri!”
“Not in the house,” Regulus said flatly from his armchair.
Sirius ignored him and did one more spin before setting Harry down.
Remus crouched beside Harry, handing him the small package. “I brought you a little something, Harry,” he said warmly.
Harry gasped, taking the package with wide eyes. “A present?”
“Just a little one,” Remus said with a soft smile. “Go on, open it.”
Harry eagerly tore into the paper, revealing a small enchanted book filled with moving pictures of magical creatures. His face lit up. “Wow!” He carefully flipped through the pages, watching a tiny Hippogriff flap its wings before running to Y/N. “Mama, look!”
“That’s amazing, love,” Y/N said, ruffling his hair. “What do you say to Uncle Moony?”
“Thank you, Uncle Moony!” Harry beamed.
“Anytime, little one,” Remus replied, ruffling his hair in return.
Sirius, meanwhile, flopped dramatically onto the couch, stretching his arms across the back. “So, where’s the good tea? Or—better yet—firewhisky?”
Regulus finally looked up from his book, narrowing his eyes. “It’s eleven in the morning.”
“And?” Sirius smirked. “I was up late doing very important things.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow. “Sirius, was that very important thing a drinking contest with Mad-Eye Moody?”
“… No?”
Remus sighed. “Yes.”
Harry, still absorbed in his book, sat himself right next to Regulus in the armchair, leaning against him. Regulus instinctively wrapped an arm around the boy, holding his book in one hand while absentmindedly carding his fingers through Harry’s messy hair.
Sirius watched them with a smirk. “Never thought I’d see the day. My little brother—a proper parent.”
Regulus shot him a glare. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Sirius grinned. “It means I’m still processing the fact that you—the grumpy, brooding Black—ended up raising my godson instead of me.” He leaned forward, winking at Harry. “But don’t worry kid, I’m the fun uncle. When you get older, I’ll teach you all the best pranks.”
Harry giggled. “Really?”
Regulus scowled. “No.”
“Yes,” Sirius countered, nodding at Harry.
Y/N snorted. “No pranks today, at least. I’d rather not clean up whatever chaos you unleash.”
Sirius sighed dramatically. “Fine, fine. I’ll behave.” He paused, then grinned at Harry. “For now.”
Regulus groaned, rubbing his temple. “Why did I let you into my house?”
Remus chuckled, sipping his tea. “Because you secretly love us.”
Regulus scoffed but didn’t argue.
Y/N just smiled, watching as Harry curled up happily between them all, his laughter filling the house. Whatever storm had been outside last night, whatever nightmares had tried to creep in, Harry was safe here—with his family. Even if Sirius was a bad influence.

HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH WITH YOU ★ R.B X J.P X READER
word count \ 2.4k | fluff and stuff | slash / regulus black x james potter x reader
in which you and regulus escape to james' house after a failed house party (no thanks given to walaburga in this house <3) author's note at the end!

HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH WITH YOU | REGULUS BLACK X JAMES POTTER X READER
James Potter and Regulus Black were complete opposites.
Regulus Black was a prim and proper man. The second heir to the Black family, the most prestigious Pureblood family within the Sacred 28. An excellent seeker with an eye as sharp as a needle, easily able to pick a Snitch out of thin air. Neat and professional, always tailored to perfection no matter when or where you look at him. Quiet and calculated, able to do anything to someone all in the drop of a hat.
James Potter was a messy and muddy man. The only heir to the Potter household, a home full of love and warmth ever since it came together. An excellent Chaser able to throw Quaffles as easy as blinking his eyes. Cocky yet charming, jumbled in a way that was endearing to many no matter when or where you look at him. Loud in a friendly way, able to befriend anything all in the drop of a hat.
Even still, they had their faults.
That fault was always you.
Regulus found himself growing bolder within your presence, his journal full of scattered and obsessive thoughts about anything to do with you. The way your face shines in the sun, or the way it gets even brighter whenever you smile. He often found himself giving you small flower crowns or trinkets, like a worshipper worshiping its deity.
James, however, found himself growing calmer within your presence. His head was full of nothing whenever he was around you, nothing more than static he wished he always had running through his mind whenever he was out in public. He often found himself giving you more affection than anyone could think possible, like a sloth latching onto a tree branch for his nap.
Even though they were opposites, you brought out the best in both of them. And in return, they saw each other in a way they felt almost no one else could. Every kiss to you meant a kiss to Regulus for James. And every thought about you meant a thought about James to Regulus.
Which led them both to where they were right now, both with you in a way that made their hearts soar.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
Regulus and you were both sitting in the backyard of the Potter Manor. Nobody else was home right now, but the both of you needed an escape from the party going on at Regulus’ house.
Which led you both here, listening to the car engine running through the streets and closer to you two. The sun was shining down on the backyard field, pollen and small dandelion fluffs running through the air and itching both of your noses.
Your heads turned as you heard the door of the car close, a small whistling tune ringing in your ears as whoever was driving got closer to you.
James.
You chuckled softly as he dramatically turned around the corner, both of you watching as he ran up to the both of you much like a golden retriever.
“Reggie!” he smiled, leaning down dramatically and kissing his forehead before moving to yours. “Oh how I’ve missed you, my love. And you too, Y/N. I missed you as well, don’t you forget it.”
“We won’t, Jamie.” you whispered, kissing his lips. “Do you have any beers?”
“If my dad doesn’t count his stash.” James said mischievously, his hand patting your head before he rushed off to get three cans. “I’ll be back!”
You and Regulus both giggled, his body scooting closer to yours as you watched James run off. Regulus’ hands moved to wrap around your waist, his fingers messing with the belt of your sundress. “You’re absolutely beautiful.”
“You’re an utter sap.” you giggled, your head resting on his shoulder.
Your lips rested on his cheek as his hands toyed with your belt, the both of you watching as James ran back out of the house with three beers and three swimsuits.
“What on Earth is he doing?” Regulus asked incredulously, a small smile on his face.
“We should go to the pool!” he said, running up to you both out of breath. “We could go swimming, or we could maybe play a game. What do you say?”
You and Regulus turned to each other before giggling at James’ ridiculousness, the two of you getting up to walk to the pool.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
The sun was shining down on the pool as Regulus and James sank into the water, James’ arms wrapping around Regulus to help him swim.
“It’s not that bad, baby.” he whispered, chuckling softly. “You can still stand even in the deep end!”
“It’s water!” he hissed slightly, the water freezing against his skin. “I could drown. Do you want me dead, James? Drowned and buried?”
“You’re not going to drown.” James chuckled, his thumbs caressing his waist. “I’ve got you.”
Regulus was about to complain again before his eyes darted over to the entrance of the pool, his eyes widening slightly as he watched you walking towards the pool.
You still had your sundress on, a small tray of fruit in your hands as you put it at the edge of the pool. “Are you two having fun?”
“Massive fun.” James chuckled, placing a kiss on Regulus’ cheek. “Right?”
Regulus nodded, his hand rapidly slapping James’ back as you moved to take your dress off. Your fingers moved to untie the belt holding it up, the zip falling down as it fell off your body. Your hands grabbed your swimsuit as you put it on, a pattern similar to your sundress.
Regulus and James were both staring at you, eyes widened and jaws dropped down to the floor.
Regulus absolutely loved the way you looked, at least 20 different poem lines or song lyrics running through his mind as he stared at you. Like you were a holy and divine being he worshiped.
And James was looking at you like a ray of sunshine or field of flowers. How could something like you exist in the same world as he did?
You turned around and chuckled softly at the look on their faces, your body moving to slowly wade into the pool. “Hey there, you two.”
“Hi.” Regulus whispered, clearing his throat before saying it again. “Hi, mon amour.”
“Hi there, baby.” James whispered, letting Regulus stand in the water so they both could wade towards you and cover you in kisses.
“You’re both the best.” you chuckled softly at them, wrapping yourself around James and leaning in for a kiss before doing the same for Regulus. “I love both of you, do you know that?”
“Yes, we do.” Regulus whispered, kissing your jaw as James’ buried his nose against your hair. “Meethee, are you wearing perfume?”
“Perfume?” you asked, before nodding. “That vanilla one you like. Do you still like it?”
“Oh, mon cœur. The woman that you are.” Regulus whispered softly at that, taking a small scent of the perfume before pulling your lips in for another kiss. “Merlin, I love you so much.”
“I did it for you,” you whispered, giggling as you felt James kissing your neck. “That tickles!”
“All for us?” he whispered, looking up at you with a gaze so sweet you could melt it like molten candy. “You’re so good to us, you know?”
“Says you.” you giggled.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
“What on Earth even happened at his parent’s house in the first place?” James asked you confusedly, looking over at Regulus who had drunken over three beers in twenty minutes. He was standing under the pool shower now, his hair dripping water as he stood in it.
“Lots of yelling and stuff.” you whispered, frowning softly at Regulus’ state. “Plus, Bellatrix was acting like, well, Bellatrix. You know how she is.”
“Maybe he needs to drink it off?” James whispered, looking at you. Neither of you liked Regulus drinking, though you did know it was a way for him to cope. And until he could escape the hellhole he lived in, it was what worked for him.
“Muggle bar?” you asked him curiously.
“Muggle bar.” James nodded at you.
The both of you got out of the pool and walked over to Regulus, playing with the shower nozzle for a minute or two before drying everyone off.
“Do you want to head to a bar, Regulus?” James whispered, his fingers running through his hair.
“A muggle bar?” Regulus whispered, his eyes shining slightly as he looked up at him.
“Yeah.” James smiled.
Regulus sniffled dramatically, hugging James tight. “You love me so much, don’t you?”
“Both of us do.” you whispered, nails gently scratching at his back. “We love you, ‘kay? We’ll stay sober so you can get drunk, as long as you take a Wiggenweld Potion after we get home.”
“And a Sobering Potion too.” he promised, kissing your forehead lovingly. “Thank you, my love.”
“Don’t thank us.” you whispered, helping the both of them walk up to James’ room so you could all get ready for the bar.
“Is James going to stay sober?” Regulus whispered softly to you, watching as James looked through his shirt collection. His eyes unabashedly traced the muscles of his back, smiling softly at the sight.
“I think so. He doesn’t like getting drunk, you know how he is.” you chuckled softly. “A big health nut he is, don’t you think?”
“Definitely.” Regulus whispered, turning to you with a curious expression. “Are you going to get drunk with me, pretty girl? I have extra potions if you need.”
“If I ask James, maybe.” you whispered, before pouting softly at Regulus. “As long as I don’t get the vodka you like. It burns.”
“Of course not.” he whispered, kissing your forehead. “I’ll get you all the drinks you love.”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
“I’m going to beat you!” yoh slurred, the pool stick in your hand swaying slightly as you angled it to the white ball. “Just you wait, Reggie.”
“You’re going to try, pretty.” he chuckled softly at you. He was holding his alcohol a lot better than you were. “And then you’re going to be sad when you lose, y’know that?”
“Nuh uh.” you said, giggling softly as James walked up behind you and helped you line the stick up.
“That’s cheating!” Regulus chuckled, leaning against the table.
James chuckled softly as you started drunkenly bumbling, taking over the pool stick and hitting the ball against the others. “Look babes, you’re solid.”
“I’m solid?” you asked, looking up at him as you pulled him into a hug. “I think I’m starry.”
“Starry?” James asked, kissing your forehead as he watched Regulus shoot his shot. He shot about three in a row, impressive for how many drinks he had already. “How are you starry?”
“Because you’re giving me a hug, and it’s starry.” you whispered, giggling as you bounced over to Regulus. “You make me starry too!”
Regulus chuckled softly at your drunkenness, realizing rather quickly that you probably wouldn’t be able to play pool nor darts. He still didn’t mind entertaining you though. “Did you know my name is based off of a star?”
“It is?” you asked, clapping your hands together. “We’re stars together!”
“Yes we are, mon cœur.” he chuckled softly.
“And Jamie has to come with us too.” you whispered softly, looking over at James. “I don’t want him feeling left out, okay?”
“Of course he can come with us.” Regulus chuckled softly to you. “He’s like the sun.”
“The sun!” you giggled softly, before stumbling into Regulus’ arms. “Sorry Reggie.”
“It’s okay, just be careful next time pretty,” he whispered, smirking softly. “You wanna watch me beat James’ ass in pool?”
“Yeah!” you giggled.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
James had been smiling the entire night, ever since he saw you two in his backyard.
You were wearing a different dress, one that was black and a bit puffier at the end of it. Regulus was wearing all black attire as well, a black silk shirt with black slacks and Doc Martens. Right now, the both of you were standing by the bar, sticking out like a sore thumb in a crowd of people who looked a little better than average.
You were both absolutely beautiful. And absolutely wasted.
“I think this is going to be your final drink.” he whispered softly, grabbing you by the waist when you sat next to him.
“What?” you whined, looking over at Regulus. “Why is he cutting us off?”
Regulus shrugged, taking a sip of his drink as he looked at James with puppy eyes.
“Nope, not falling for it.” James muttered, dramatically tossing his head to the ceiling. “We’re going to get you two your potions and then we’re going to head home, no ifs, ands, or buts.”
“On the contrary to the message you are trying to spread,” Regulus slurred out, hiccuping at the end. “I believe we should be able to consume alcoholic beverages however long we want.”
“And I believe that I don’t want you sick tomorrow.” James said, looking down at Regulus. “Don’t make me do it.”
“You won’t!” you gasped audibly.
“I would.” he said sternly, putting as serious of an expression he could on. “Don’t test me.”
“No, no!” Regulus said. “We’ll go.”
“Good.” James said, chuckling softly as the both of you stumbled to put your glasses back at the bar. Oh how he loved you two.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1b417856e1f8c471a80aebe2db12c21/a9a50f1cdb7f26e8-b9/s540x810/dacaee987d94c69daca57e5af01de90db4f92d2f.jpg)
“Okay, who’s in bed first?” James asked, looking at both you and Regulus in matching pajamas.
“I believe that it’s your turn for mutual cuddles.” you mumbled sleepily, patting the bed down for James to get in. “Go on Jamie.”
“Oh,” James nodded, looking down at the bed before smiling. “My turn it is.”
“Your turn it is.” Regulus hummed, crawling in and wrapping his arms around James. You were much more uncivilized, wrapping your entire being around him contently.
The lights turned of magically as you all got comfortable in the bed, small sighs escaping your mouths as your eyes closed. Regulus’ grip tightened ever so slightly, his hand grasping yours in his sleep. Your body stayed wrapped around James, though your calf somewhat covered Regulus’ leg.
And James was content laying in the middle and spread like a starfish, smiling as he listened to the both of your breathing gently. James wouldn’t have this any other way.

Wolfstar's!Child - Mama Raised a Little Bitch
Parents!Sirius Black & Remus Lupin x Teenager!Reader (ft. Jegulily)
Reader's gender and Hogwarts house is unspecified
This is my first work of the series - if you have any suggestions or requests, let me know!
~~~
Fucked was not a strong enough word to describe how totally and utterly screwed you were now.
When you had first gotten your Hogwarts letter, your uncle Regulus had fallen to his knees (metaphorically) to beg you not to be like James, or your papa Sirius. Remus had joined in too, with both of them citing that ‘Sirius and James were bad enough’ as their justification.
With a promise you had intended to adhere to, you departed to Hogwarts.
In your defence, you believed you would never even come close to breaking it - you had been going strong for four years now, dedicating yourself to academia instead of continuing the Marauders’ legacy, much to the horror of your godfather and papa.
They had made a big deal about ‘disowning you’, opting to name Fred and George Weasley as their heirs, who were more than happy to accept. You believed it to be a joke. For the most part.
However, now there was a blot on your record - a spill of crimson Chardonnet on a white bedsheet if you will.
A blot that came in the form of Hera O’Donnell.
With her snide remarks and condescending attitude, she strutted around Hogwarts like she were the headmaster herself - as a lioness scoured a savanna for a deer to sink its fangs in to, she paroused her peers, searching for the easiest one to prey upon.
You were her chosen doe.
In her skewed vision, you wore shoes too big for you to fill - the weight of the Lupin-Black left you crushed by expectations and drowning in inadequacy, waves of failure washing over your head and coating the inside of your lungs with a thick layer of incompetence.
But your head remained firmly above water.
Despite her taunts and jibes being fruitless at first, Hera had hunted you down and separated you from your pack, and now, her teeth finally began to pierce your skin.
Logically, you should have informed someone. You were not alone - your dad and papa were forever on your side, along with your godfather James, godmother Lily, Uncle Regulus and all of your aunts and uncles, composed of your parents’ Hogwarts friends.
But Hera awoke a different part of you. Something more spiteful. Something more primal.
Reporting it would not be as satisfying. As gratifying. But revenge would be.
If anyone asked you about what had happened to Hera O’Donnell, you would simply claim something along the lines of how ‘her appearance had improved with the addition of a skunk tail.’ It amused your peers, undeniably, but the staff not so much.
Even as your head of house sat you down and informed you of the consequences of transfiguring someone like that and the numerous procedures that Hera was undergoing at St. Mongo’s, having been transferred there for more specialist care, you could not find it in yourself to care.
However, you absolutely did find it in yourself to care when a crimson envelope fell into your bowl of cereal the next morning.
You had expected your parents to be informed of the incident, naturally. But a howler? That you had not. Staring at the envelope, Hera’s words swarmed your mind. What if your parents now saw you just as Hera had?
With a quiet sigh escaping your lips, and sympathetic glances from your friends, you opened the envelope, hoping to get it over sooner rather than later. The voice of Sirius Black erupted from the envelope, filling the entire Great Hall.
‘MON AMOUR I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! TRANSFIGURING SOMEO- Oi, Rem, get off! I’m jus-’
‘I TOLD YOU OUR KID WOULD BE A FUCKIN’ GOD AT TRANSFIGURATION!’ Came a proud voice of Remus Lupin, cutting your papa off. ‘LOOKS LIKE YOUR PAPA AND GODFATHER NEED TO REINSTATE YOU AS HEIR AFTER ALL, SWEETHEART!’
As Remus declared that, two very loud and audible sighs of disappointment left the lips of Fred and George. The howler continued, and the sound of a door being slammed open was heard before the voice of James Potter joined in the chorus.
‘WERE NONE OF YOU GOING TO TELL ME THAT THEY TRANSFIGURED SOMEONE?!’ James cried out incredulously and overdramatically, however, he quickly forgot his dramatics in favour of the Marauders’ legacy.
‘NOW ALL YOU NEED TO DO, PRIY, IS TO BECOME ANIMAG-’ the sound of skin hitting skin rung out as Lily slapped a hand over James’ mouth to stop him from accidentally revealing that they were illegal animagi, despite the fact that they legally could register, but they all couldn’t be bothered. James and your papa said it was funnier this way.
‘Darling, as impressive as it is, please don’t transfigure anyone else,’ Lily chastised you gently. She had to at least give off the illusion that they were disciplining you, but you could hear the pride underlining her words and the smirk on her lips.
‘Now, I think it’s best we end this now, hm?’ came the still sophisticated voice of your uncle Reg. ‘Unless we want the entire Hogwarts populous to know James’ social security number.’ There was a chuckle from both the howler and the Hogwarts students at that remark.
‘I want you to know that I am proud of you. The family needed something a little more…Slytherin.’ Regulus remarked before the Howler burst into flames and tore itself up.
Silence filled the Great Hall as everyone took a moment to stare at you and process what had just happened. You looked up and your eyes caught Harry’s.
‘Good job,’ he mouthed at you, giving you a bright smile and a thumbs up from the Gryffindor table, beside a very peeved Fred and George.
Maybe you weren’t so alone or fucked after all.
Our Little Wolf and Little Star
Married Wolfstar x twin!daughters (Willow and Selene)
Requested: no
Warnings: description of birth (barely), some cursing, kinda cringe, but it’s for the vibes.
A/N: EVERYONE LIVES AU. Mary Kate and Ashely movie vibes. Also… listen to Little Star by Dion and the Bellmonts and Li’l Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and the Pharohs for ultimate vibes.
3rd Person POV
October 31st, 1980
The wait in the hospital was complete agony. Remus sat in an uncomfortable hospital waiting room chair. The only position that feels remotely comfortable is resting my head on my hands. His mind races faster and faster, watching his husband, Sirius, pace back and forth in front of him. James sits silently in the chair to the right of Remus. He’s trying his best to calm the pair down, but his words fall on deaf ears in Sirius and Remus’s overanalyzing ones.
“Mates, you both need to calm down. Everything will be just fine.”
Sirius stops his pacing and stares at James, his eyes wide with lack of sleep. “Calm down? What if something goes wrong? Why is it taking so long in the first place? It’s cause I’m stubborn, so they’re being stubborn to punish me? Fuck, I knew we should’ve used Remus’s-”
“Siri, stop talking.” Remus’s voice and eyes were stern as he sat back in the chair to get a better look at Sirius. The topic of who was going to donate sperm has been a sensitive one from the moment a surrogate was mentioned. The risk of passing his lycanthropy onto their future children was enough for the werewolf to insist on using Sirius’s for the donor.
All Sirius does is roll his eyes and plop on the seat on the other side of Remus, head falling on Remus’s shoulder out of exhaustion and instinct. Remus’s hand slides into Sirius’s, their fingers intertwining.
“I mean it. Plus, our kids would have your hair and height. That’s a win in my book.” Sirius moves his eyes to look up at Remus, but his head stays stationary.
Remus brought their hands up to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on the back of his husband’s. “It’s a little late for that now, innit?”
The labor has been going on for 48 hours, but the couple’s anxieties have been going on since they found out the implantation was successful. It only intensified as the months went on, now at an all-time high. Both of them refusing to sleep in case the surrogate, Maud, started to push. They both wanted to be ready to run into the room and watch their daughters take their first breaths.
As much as James tried to calm them down and convince them to sleep just for a bit, Remus and Sirius were too stubborn and sleep-deprived to listen. James even called Lily, hoping she would talk sense into them, but with her stuck at home with a one-month-old Harry, her over-the-phone and sleep-deprived threats were far less intimidating.
“Sirius, labor takes time. Lily was in labor for 12 hours. And you have twins, so of course, it’s going to take longer.” James’s voice was empathetic, but this sentence has been said three times already. Every comforting thing James could think of has been said, causing the words to lose meaning to Sirius.
Although Remus was pretending to keep it together, he was a nervous wreck inside. He walked into the hospital as Remus Lupin: Wizard, Werewolf, Husband, but when he leaves, father will be added to that title.
The muggle hospital seemed odd to the three wizards. It was much more controlled and secretive than anything in the wizarding world. The wing they were in was decorated with blue, pink, and yellow, with a quiet lullaby playing every so often, signifying a new baby had been born. Every lullaby that goes off that isn’t to celebrate baby Lupin allows jealousy and anxiety to grow more and more.
“Sirius, Remus,” James takes a deep breath, “I know you don’t want to hear it, but maybe you should go home and get some sle-”
“Sirius and Remus Lupin?” A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the waiting room. Her eyes scan and spot the two men rising from their chairs. She smiles at them and pulls her mask down. “Your surrogate is pushing; we’ll have you wait outside the room until she’s done. Come with me.” She turns around, and then men are quick to follow.
James shouts a quick “Good luck!” but the fathers-to-be don’t even look back to respond.
The two husbands wait outside the delivery suite, their hands intertwined. They waited less than ten minutes, their minds going a million kilometers a second, but none of those thoughts mattered when they heard a faint cry behind the door followed by a quiet lullaby version of “Happy Birthday” playing over the speakers.
Remus’s eyes widen, the weight being lifted off his shoulders. Sirius’s smile widens immediately. It isn’t until they hear a second cry that the couple hug each other. Happy tears flow from Sirius’s eyes while he laughs out of relief. The soft lullaby plays again for the second baby girl, signaling everything is going well in the delivery room.
A soft knock coming from inside the room interrupts their celebration. A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the hallway and smiles at the couple. “Would you like to come in and meet your daughters?”
Sirius kisses Remus’s head as they enter the room. They’re given a bit of hand sanitizer before being given their little girls to hold. The two husbands thanked the surrogate a million times before being taken into a separate room to fill out paperwork as Maud recovered.
The twins were no longer ideas and possibilities; they were real and in their arms.
The two walk out into the waiting room with the babies swaddled in a soft pink blanket and pale yellow hats. Sirius’s tears started again when he saw the mass of people in the waiting room. It was no longer James, but everyone important in their lives was there to support the new parents. Lily was there with Harry, Regulus, Peter, Marlene and Dorcus, Mary, Alice, and Frank, who brought Neville. Even Andromeda showed up.
“Everyone,” Remus’s voice was still a whisper, yet loud enough for the whole crowd to hear. “I am happy to present to you for the first time ever Willow Lily Lupin. Born at 7 lbs and 2 ounces. 1st born by 3 minutes.” He raises his elbow a bit, letting people get a better look at the sleeping baby in his arms.
“And this is Selene Andromeda Lupin, who stands at 7 lbs and 5 ounces.” Sirius continues, smiling at the little bundle in his arms. His gaze couldn’t be broken even if he tried, and he didn’t want to.
Regulus smiled softly before speaking up. “W and S, Wolf and Star, I’m assuming?” His eyes were locked on his big brother, someone he’d seen in this caring and protective role before, but this time it seemed out of love instead of fear. Regulus also wanted to start crying happy tears, but he refused to be in front of a large group.
“I guess it is.” Sirius grinned and looked up at his brother before looking back down at the sleeping baby. “Hell, my Little Star.”
“So Willow is Little Wolf then?” James ran the back of his finger over Willow’s cheek, replicating something he often does to Harry when he sleeps.
“I guess she is.” Remus's smile grows more if that is even possible. “Our little Wolf.”
Sirius turns to his husband beaming. So much love and happiness filled his eyes. “Our girls.”
Remus met Sirius’s gaze with the same love and tenderness. “Our girls.”
Away Part 1
Regulus Black AU
Pairings: Regulus Black x Reader
Rating: T- mentions of abuse
Summary: Growing up in abusive homes has finally reached its breaking point. Regulus comes to run away with you in the middle of the night. Its time for a new life.
____
It was late at night when you heard a soft knock on the front door. Looking up from the book that you had been reading, you knew that knock. That was Regulus. You frowned as you stood up and looked at the clock on the wall. 12:45. It was late for Regulus to come over without any warning.
Walking to the door, you were thankful that your father had passed out drunk. Your very mentally abusive father was usually out cold by 10:00. If he knew that Regulus was there, things would get terrible quickly. Your father hated everything about Regulus, to begin with.
The moment you opened the door, Regulus reached out and grabbed your wrist. Tugging you down the steps, Regulus didn’t say a word until you stopped walking.
“Regulus, what are you doing?”
You questioned, glancing over your shoulder to make sure your father hadn’t heard anything. Regulus stopped and glanced over his shoulder. He took a breath before turning to face you.
In the darkness, you couldn’t see his full face but something told you that he was beaten up too.
“Come on Y/n, we are getting out of here. I have had enough. We aren’t dealing with our parent’s shit anymore.”
Regulus quickly tugged you toward a parked car. Opening the door, he quickly ushered you into the passenger side before hurting to the driver's side. You sat quietly processing everything that had just happened.
“Where did you get a car?”
Regulus kept his grey eyes on the road in front of him.
“Stole it. That is all that you need to know.”
You blinked, again taking everything in.
“Regulus, I am going to have to ask questions. I didn’t even know that you could drive.”
“Having Sirius for an older brother isn’t as bad as one would have thought.”
Regulus replied. He was still going on sheer adrenaline. After the epic showdown with his parents, he wasn’t sure when his normal thinking would return. When he did return to his normal thinking, Regulus wasn’t sure how he would process everything he did. At the moment, however, he didn’t care. All he cared about was getting the two of you out of dodge.
“Regulus, will you please tell me what the hell is going on outside of running away? I am a little freaked out.”
You gasped when Regulus swerved the car to the shoulder of the road. He sat quietly for a moment before turning to face you. When he turned, you suddenly understood everything. Half of Regulus’ perfect face was bruised and swollen.
“Reggie…”
You managed to squeak out as he reached for your hand. His long fingers gently traced over your palm.
“I know. It looks awful. I am tired of our parents beating on us, Y/n. Neither one of us deserves this shit and I am putting an end to it now. We will be 17 soon and we will be able to legally decide our fate. I am terrified that if we wait much longer, one of us may be killed. Again, we are getting the fuck out of here before that could happen.”
Regulus was relieved when you nodded and appeared in agreement.
“You’re right. I am tired of seeing what your bitch of a mother does to you.”
Regulus sighed.
“I told her about us. She flipped the fuck out because you aren’t a pureblood. Apparently, she is trying to arrange a marriage with one of the other snots in my family’s circle. If we stay here, we will never be able to be together. I am not giving you up for some pureblood bitch that I have no interest in.”
As Regulus suspected, you appeared to be completely horrified. You knew that you wouldn’t be good enough for Walburga. That was common sense 101 to you but you never expected her to totally beat Regulus over it.
“You’re right. We have to get out of here. Regulus, what are we going to do?”
Regulus leaned his head back into the headrest and was silent for a moment.
“I have my inheritance from my uncle. He gave it to me some time ago in case I needed to make a quick getaway. I have an idea. Let's just get married. That way if my stupid parents catch us, they won't be able to do a goddamn thing.”
You found yourself staring at Regulus again. This was the most un-Regulus Black thing that you had ever heard come out of his mouth. You had the feeling that Regulus would take some time to propose. Doing it before you were even legally able to do so was totally unexpected.
“Regulus, we are 16. There is no way we would be able to…”
Regulus cut you off by holding his hand up.
“We lie. People lie all the time and we can be one of them. Please Y/n. The only way that everyone will know that we aren’t going to give each other up is if we get married.”
Regulus was relieved when you finally smiled.
“You have definitely put some thought into this. I think you are right. I don’t want us to get married to give our parents the middle finger. I want to marry you because I love you and you are the only person that I could ever picture myself with.”
Regulus gave you the small smile that he only reserved for you.
“Is that a yes, Regulus. I will marry you?”
Leaning across the seats, you gently kissed his cheek.
“Yes, Regulus. I will marry you.”
Regulus pulled you into a soft kiss. Regardless of the moment being rather shitty and the day being horrible…this was exactly what he needed. Breathing in your scent, Regulus felt comforted knowing that his mother would never be able to force the two of you apart.
Reaching into his shirt pocket, Regulus took out the engagement ring that his grandmother had given to him years ago with the instructions to give it to the right girl. He wasn’t sure if his grandmother Irma would be happy with his choice of the right girl but Regulus also didn’t care.
“Good, because I didn’t know what else to say.”
Regulus commented before slipping the ring onto your finger. You smiled looking down at the emerald and diamond engagement ring. Regulus didn’t have to tell you to know that this was a family heirloom. This would be yet another fuck you to the Blacks that you would enjoy. The perfect ring would be on your finger while you were married to their perfect heir.
“It's beautiful, Regulus. I love it.”
Regulus nodded.
“And it fits your finger perfectly.”
You moved to lay your head on his shoulder.
“Where are we going to go? You know, after we get married.”
Regulus looked thoughtful for a moment.
“I know where Sirius lives with Remus. We can stay with them until we come up with something more permanent. It wouldn’t be until after we get out of school so that gives us some time.”
“I think we would be safe with Sirius. I know the two of you didn’t part on good terms but he is still your brother.”
Regulus frowned. You were right. He didn’t part on good terms with Sirius. In fact, their last words were down right icy. Regulus would have to do something that he hated doing…apologizing. He knew that he would have to tell Sirius that he was right about everything. That would be a lot like eating dirt but it would have to be done.
I have to apologize to him to have a safe place for Y/n.
Regulus’ grey eyes fluttered back to you. You were busy admiring your engagement ring with a smile on your pretty face. Regulus sighed.
There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for her.
Taking a breath, Regulus sighed.
“You’re right. We didn’t part on good terms but Sirius is my brother. You of all people know that I hate admitting that I am wrong about anything but I was wrong for how I dealt with him.”
You squeezed Regulus’ hand again.
“It's all minor details that we can fix. Now where are we going to get married?”
Regulus started the car and pulled back onto the road.
“I was thinking about the next town over. No one there knows us. It will be easier to get in and out. I only feel guilty that I am not giving you the wedding that you deserve.”
“That is only a minor detail, love. We can always have a wedding later.”
Twenty minutes later, you stood beside Regulus as he filled out the marriage license. The lady at the window had gone off to file some paperwork as if it were just another day. She didn’t seem very interested when the two of you asked to be married. This was just another day at her boring job. The only thing that seemed to spark her interest was the bruise on Regulus’ face.
“Do you think she suspects that we aren’t old enough?”
You whispered. Regulus’ eyes rolled up to the woman as she walked out to find someone to do the ceremony part.
“I think she could care less. Remember, we are being liars. I’m 17 and you're 17.”
You nodded as an older man walked up. He took the certificate while looking between Regulus and yourself.
“Are you the two looking to get married?”
Regulus nodded.
“Yes, we are.”
The older man frowned.
“How old are the two of you?”
Regulus was a lot more confident than you at the moment.
“We are 17 and old enough.”
The man again looked between Regulus and yourself. He wasn’t a fool. In his 30+ years of being in his job, he had seen enough kids sneaking to get married. This appeared to be yet another one of those cases but something also felt different. Whether it be the rough state that Regulus was in or the nervous expression on your face, something told him that this was a big deal.
“Indeed you are. Come with me.”
The next fifteen minutes were a blur for you. You wished that you could have enjoyed the moment a little more. Part of you was worried that Walburga and Orion would burst into the room before everything could be completed. If they did, you knew that they would kill Regulus. You noticed that Regulus had one eye on the door too. Clearly, he was having the same thought process as you.
Regulus felt bad that he wasn’t as present in the moment as he had hoped he would be. Feeling on edge and barely paying attention seemed like a shitty way to start your lives together. The only thing making Regulus feel somewhat okay was the promise that he could give you something better later.
Mum and Dad won’t be able to do shit now. I no longer care about the Black family legacy. I don’t care what any family member has to say about Y/n. They won’t know how truly wonderful she is. If they try to hurt her, I’ll kill them.
Regulus thought as the minister’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.
“Kiss your bride.”
Regulus waited all of two seconds before pulling you into a kiss. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders deepening the kiss. No matter how “off” the situation was, you would make sure that there was at least a decent wedding kiss.
Walking out of the office, you squeezed Regulus’ hand. For the first time since he came and took you away, you felt as if you could somewhat breathe. Now you at least had the promise that what you had with Regulus couldn’t be taken away.
“Everything will be okay.”
Regulus said softly. You stopped walking and moved to wrap your arms back around him.
“Yes, it will. Now let's go talk to Sirius.”
Family Line / Sirius Black
Sirius runs away from home.
Rapid footsteps were heard outside, followed by a hurried rapping of knuckles against the door; the sound breaking the stillness that had comfortably settled itself in the room.
You raised your head in alarm, nearly dropping the book you were holding, and perching your mug atop the coffee table. Standing up abruptly, you made your way to the door, the floorboards creaking beneath your weight and harmonizing with the nerves clawing at your skin.
“Who’s there?”
You ask quite defensively, thick pulses of air escaping your mouth— ragged breathing reflecting on your chest that heaved harshly.
“I—it’s me. Please, let me in,”
His voice was filled with hurt, and you felt your brows etching together in worry. Pulling your lips taut, you breathed, “Sirius..?”
You were met with his pained expression as you cautiously pulled open the door; his long, usually neatly tousled hair, was matted against his forehead. His jacket hung loosely on his shoulders, unzipped— and he looked more disheveled than he would ever will himself to be.
Words were caught in your throat, as you stared at his face that was bubbling with emotion, his eyes shiny with unshed tears. Without a second thought, you pulled him into your embrace, hand going straight to his back like it was second nature.
You gently closed the door with your foot as Sirius clung to you desperately, seemingly wanting to keep himself grounded as he let a sob force its way out of his mouth.
His touch burned you, making your heart skip beats as he clutched at your shirt, out of breath and hurting. His pain was raw and palpable, and you could feel the weight of it seep into your own chest, a knot tightening there that you couldn’t quite untangle.
“I.. I left home,”
He mumbled against your chest, his voice muffled as he looked up at you through red-rimmed eyes, his words stumbling over one another like broken pieces of something too fragile to hold.
“Regulus. I convinced him to come with, but..” he hiccupped, his body trembling with a pain that went beyond words, “He’s far too gone.”
He smiled bitterly, eyes darting from one of your features to another, as if searching for something to anchor him. He fidgeted with his hands on your back, unable to still himself.
You nodded, your heart aching for him, urging him to speak, to let it all out— to unload the burden he’d been carrying alone for so long. You were there, all of you, to listen.
Slotting your palm against his cheek, you gazed into his face, soft and open now in a way he had never allowed to be shown to anyone else. His gray eyes fluttered, flickering with emotion, and you could almost hear the whispers of wounds that you know will take a while to heal. He tilted his face into your touch, and you felt an ache behind your ribs, the ache of something more— something you had never quite allowed yourself to understand until now.
“Oh, Sirius,” you cooed, your voice trembling with sorrow for the boy who had never quite known peace inside of his own family. You broke away from the hug gently, your fingers running through his hair, soothing him with the simple, tender gesture.
“It’s not your fault, love,” you murmured, your voice low, wrapping around him like a blanket of warmth, the words flowing with the kind of certainty you had always wished to offer him.
He blinks, and you feel a twinge of fondness racking through your body, settling at your stomach as you lead him to the plush couch in which you’ve previously sat.
“It’s not your fault that you couldn’t have saved your brother from your parent’s grasps. I’m sure he made his decision long ago. Regulus isn’t a child anymore, Sirius.”
He looked down, a sniffle escaping him as he leaned his head against your shoulder, his breath shallow and uneven. The silence between you felt like a conversation in itself, a heavy, thoughtful kind of stillness that enveloped the room.
His body shook with the force of his emotions, the weight of the years pressing down on him, and it seemed as though all the walls he had built around himself were crumbling. His usual cocky, defiant demeanor had faded, leaving behind something softer, more human. And still, he tried to form coherent thoughts, words slipping from him like water through a cracked vessel.
“I know.. It’s just that he’s my little brother. I loved him.” His voice cracked, and the words tumbled from his lips with an agonizing rawness. “I love him.”
You sighed, your hand finding his, holding it with gentle reassurance. You rubbed his shoulder in slow strokes, your own heart pulsing with a rhythm that mirrored his own tremors.
“You did your part, Pads.” You said softly, your voice like a quiet lullaby meant to soothe. “You gave him everything you could. He knows that, deep down.”
His body relaxed a fraction, his sobs turning into quiet, shuddering breaths, and you could feel his tension ease, if only for a moment.
You let the quiet settle around the two of you, his head resting on your shoulder as you both sank into the cushions. You could feel the warmth of him beside you, the weight of him grounding you in ways you couldn’t explain.
“I know you’re tired, Sirius,” you murmured, pulling him closer, your hand tracing circles on his back. “You’ve been carrying this for far too long. Rest.”
“Can I stay at your place for a while? Just until I find somewhere. Please.” He spoke after a moment, voice small, fragile, and breaking something deep inside you.
“As long as you wish, Sirius.” You whispered back, tucking a stray piece of hair behind his ear. His lips curved upwards, slow and weary, as the tension in his body finally began to give way to the exhaustion that had been creeping up on him for days.
You watched him closely, the peace settling over him like a delicate, fleeting thing. His eyes fluttered shut, and you pressed your lips to his temple, a soft, lingering kiss— one filled with all the affection you had for him.
Even just for a night, the world outside would cease to exist. There was only the two of you—the quiet, steady rhythm of your breathing and the warmth of his body against yours. The chaos of the world could wait. Right now, Sirius needed peace. And as you held him, as you cradled him in your arms, you realized that maybe, just maybe, he would find it here, in this moment.
“Oh, how Regulus had grown up without you.”
don't wake regulus
Y/n can't sleep so she wonders down to the dungeons in search of her favorite Black brother
Warnings and such: pretty fluffy, angst if you squint maybe? Short but cute because I miss Regulus Black :(
---------------------------------------------------------------------
My knuckles met the wood door and regret filled my body instantly. I shouldn't have come down here- my inability to sleep and desperation to not be alone wasn't his problem. I sighed, hearing the lock turn over and the door being to open.
"Crouch, I swear if you-"
Standing before me, rubbing sleep from his eyes as he squinted against the hall light was a just awoken Regulus Black. His hair was askew and pajamas hung on his body loosely- everything was big on him. His voice was raspy as he spoke, my presence before him in the middle of the night catching him off guard.
"Y/n? What's wrong?"
"I...I'm sorry, Regulus," I hung my head, suddenly feeling embarrassed that I had come down here at all. This didn't seem like a bad idea a few minutes ago. "I shouldn't have-"
"Come on," He yawned, eyes closing as he opened the door wider.
I stepped in and watched as the darkness encased the room once more, the only light was the reflection of the moon on the lake which pushed its way through the windows on the far end of the room. I followed Regulus back to bed, hesitating before climbing under the covers with him.
"Reggie I-"
"Are you safe?" He interrupted, arms wrapping around me tightly before nesting his head in the crook of my neck.
"Yes?"
"We can talk about it in the morning then."
"Okay," I chucked, settling into the sheets and his arms.
I'm not sure how long I had laid there, but everything in me was saying that Regulus was asleep. I didn't mind...even if I still couldn't sleep, at least I wasn't alone. I sighed, mostly content as I turned over in his arms. I couldn't see his face, but allowed my hand to wonder up and down his side and what expand of his shoulder I could reach.
"Y/n?"
"Sorry!" I whispered, fingers stilling on his hips.
"If you wake me up again, I'm going to kill you."
I knew he was joking but I could feel my cheeks heating up. I shouldn't have come down here, I thought to myself. Regulus' thumb and forefinger fumbled for my chin before tipping my head up slightly and placing a gentle kiss on my lips.
"Seriously though, go to sleep!"
"Yes, Reggie." I rolled over again with a smile. He squeezed me tightly and mumbled something that sounded like an I love you from where he laid behind me, but I must have just dreamt that...right?
Right?
i have a lot of fics in the itd universe i want to write (fleamont and euphemia origin story feat. the abraxont breakup, minerva and poppy origin story, alphard’s separation from the family and death, etc.) but now im thinking.
what if i wrote an itd prequel?
because i wanted to write a oneshot or smth about walburga and orion + cygnus and druella getting married, maybe with a cameo from emma and léon lestrange (my ocs for rodolphus and rabastan’s parents), but now i lowkey wanna write a 10-15-chapter prequel about their childhoods and ending with the birth of regulus, aka the earliest point in itd.
it would probably be focused on walburga, druella, and emma? and it wouldn’t come out until after itd, but now that we’re drawing closer to 1979 in itd — aka the year orion died (and the year regulus died in canon but he lives in itd so), i’ve realized i Want More Black Family.
#you can blame ultraviolence by orbitfalls for this btw#because as much as *i* know the black family lore#itd readers don’t#and never will#because the parents die before regulus can find out about it#and no one else *wants* to go looking#fic: itd#regulus black#the black family#the black sisters#the black brothers#walburga black#orion black#druella black#druella rosier#cygnus black#alphard black
You’re not exactly sure when you first met Sirius. You both came from unhappy homes. His was just empty of love in general; his parents, cold and disconnected, held impossible expectations of him. Yours was a broken love; parents that had onced loved each other but only stayed together out of obligation to you. You knew your parents tried to hide their growing distaste for each other from you, but they were bad at it. Their arguments filled the house almost nightly.
Your friendship with Sirius was born out of literal escapism. You had taken to going to the park near your house whenever you couldn’t take being in the house anymore. At one point, the curly haired boy started showing up and you’d sit on the swings together. It wasn’t until a while later that you actually talked to him. And the two of you became friends, disparaging your parents together.
“Some people just shouldn’t be parents,” you had said to him once.
He agreed. The two of you made your own fun as two unsupervised kids did: he liked to break things and you liked to set things on fire. You weren’t always causing trouble, sometimes opting to go exploring down every alley within the surrounding neighborhoods. But at the end of the day, you’d always go back to your own homes. You could easily be described as best friends, despite not knowing his last name and he yours.
Your friendship hit what you thought would be a minor bump at the end of the summer after you both turned eleven. You were hanging out at your usual park, chatting at the swings like you always did. He told you that he had been enrolled in a boarding school. You stared at him, silent for a beat, but then you told him that you had been too.
“So… I’ll see you at Christmas?” he asked.
“Yeah. Don’t go forgetting about me.”
“It’s just school. I won’t forget you.”
Little did you know that you would be going to the same school as him. You had managed to not see him on the platform, on the train nor on the boats. You didn’t see him at all prior to the sorting ceremony.
“Sirius Black.”
The dark curls you were all too familiar with walked up the steps to the tri-legged stool and the sorting hat was placed on his head.
After a few moments, it shouted, “GRYFFINDOR!”
The table of crimson and gold erupted into the cheers while the rest of the hall seemed to fill with whispers of uncertainty. You understood their whispers. You would have to have been a muggle to not know about the Black family. As you waited for your turn to be sorted, your mind spun with questions to ask him when you had the chance. How had he never mentioned his last name? How had there been no accidental magic between the two of you? Was everything he said about his parents true? What about the rumors about him? How come you had never seen his brother?
You were ripped out of your thoughts at the call of your name. You climbed the steps and took a seat on the stool for your sorting. You glanced over at him. He was staring at you with a white face. You were only given a singular moment of eye contact before the hat made its decision.
“SLYTHERIN!”
As you made your way to the green and silver table, you tried to find his eyes again, but he wouldn’t look your way. And it stayed that way. For the whole first week, he wouldn’t look at you and always made a point to not be near you, which wasn’t difficult as he surrounded himself with his fellow Gryffindors. You didn’t speak until he approached you in the library.
“How are you here?” he whispered, pretending to look for a book in the same section as you. His voice made you jump.
“I could ask you the same thing,” you hissed back at him. “Never mentioned you’re a wizard.”
“You didn’t either.”
“Technically, I’m a witch. You never said your last name.”
“Some muggles know my family.”
Silence.
“We’re going to pretend we don’t know each other,” he said.
“What?” you asked, turning to face him despite him still not looking at you.
“You don’t know me. I don’t know you.”
Then he grabbed a random book from the shelf and walked away. You watched him walk away in utter shock. How were you supposed to pretend you didn’t know him?
Sirius took what he said to you very seriously. You were just another Slytherin to him, someone as bad as the rest of his pure-blood-obsessed family. You weren’t friends anymore. Despite making your own friends, the semester felt lonely.
You had hope that over Christmas break he’d come to the park. The promise of seeing each other at Christmas was a spark of hope that lingered in your chest. A spark that was extinguished when he didn’t appear at the park; you were there almost every day for several hours. It was then that you gave up on those years of friendship. You’d have to learn to survive your parents without his company.
---
You wonder if he thought about you as much as you thought about him. You weren’t friends anymore. You hadn’t spoken in years except for minor interactions.
“Excuse me.”
“Can you pass the frog warts?”
“Here.”
“Can I get through?”
“Thanks.”
Yet Sirius still haunted your mind. You weren’t friends. But you cared for him. And caring for him was a distraction from your own home life. You just couldn’t show how much you cared for him in the normal ways, but it seemed as if fate knew that and gave you Regulus. Another boy who lived in the same house as Sirius with the same parents. You made it your mission to befriend him, letting him tell you details about his life and hiding how much you knew from Sirius. He didn’t tell you much, nor did he ask much about you. You had a quiet mutual understanding with Regulus, and that was enough for you. It was that understanding that made you two best friends. His walls slowly came down when he was around you. You were easily the one he trusted the most at Hogwarts and he became yours. It was an easy friendship. You treasured that, even if it sometimes reminded you of what you had had with Sirius.
---
You had gotten used to being at the park by yourself. Sirius was never there anymore. You did a double take when you saw a boy with dark curly hair sitting on the swing. For a moment, you thought it was Sirius, but the hair was too short and not curly enough. His frame was thinner. Then it hit you. Regulus.
You sprinted up to him and stood in front of him. He was silently crying. You had known him long enough to recognize the signs without actually seeing his face; he was an expert at hiding it. You knew he’d rather die than have anyone see him cry.
“Regulus,” you breathe, kneeling down in front of him.
You hear his breath hitch and he looks up from his lap. The expression on his face makes you want to cry. It makes you want to hold him, using your grip to put his broken pieces back together. It hurts your soul to see him like this. The look changes from extreme hurt and sadness to confusion.
“How are… how are you here?” he asks.
You reach out to hold his hands. He doesn’t pull them away.
“Doesn’t matter right now. What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Sirius,” Regulus says, his voice tight. “He ran away. I don’t think he’s coming back.”
You press your lips into a thin line. Even based on what Regulus has told you, which didn’t measure up to everything Sirius had ever told you, you know that him being alone in that house wasn’t a good thing. You give his hands a squeeze, hoping it offers some kind of comfort.
“You’re going to be okay.” Maybe if you speak it into existence, it will be true. “You’re strong. You’re resilient. You’ve done all you can to make your parents proud. They can’t…”
He shakes his head before cutting you off. “They don’t have to be upset with me to be upset at me.”
“Do… do you know where he went?”
“I’m assuming the Potters.”
“Do you have somewhere to go?”
He blinks at you, emotion slowly draining from his face.
“I can’t leave.” It’s a firm statement.
“Regulus,” you say, almost pleading, but he just shakes his head again.
“I have to stay. I can’t leave. I don’t expect you to understand.”
“Regulus.” Your voice is softer, but your grip on his hands is stronger. “What if you had somewhere to go?”
He shakes his head again. “I told you. I have to stay… I should be getting back soon. Mother won’t be happy I’ve been gone so long…”
“Regulus Arcturus Black,” you say, trying to hold his attention. He looks into your eyes and you can see all the pain he’s holding in. “I don’t live far from here. My home’s not much, but it’s better. Safer.”
“Better? Safer?” he scoffs.
“I come here often. I’ll be here if you change your mind,” you say, knowing he won’t. He was too proud and too determined to survive without Sirius.
“I’ll see you at school.”
You watch as he walks away and you just know that you’re going to have to piece him back together when the fall comes. From what you know Sirius endured, you know he’ll need a careful hand.
---
Come the fall, you find you were right. Regulus was numb to the world. He was silent and emotionless as the rest of his friends greeted him, pulling him into the compartment where you were.
“Regulus,” you say as he sits next to you.
His back is pin-straight, like he couldn’t even think about slouching. You reach out to touch his arm when he doesn’t acknowledge you. When your hand touches his bicep, he turns to look at you and you see the sadness creep up into his face. You adjust how you’re sitting so you can pull him into you. He falls into your chest, not bothering to say anything and certainly not attempting to resist your touch.
“I should have listened,” he mumbles into your arm that’s wrapped tightly around him.
“I know,” you whisper.
He stays in your arms for most of the ride to Hogwarts, getting more comfortable as time passes and he shifts to periodically participate in the conversation with Dorcas, Pandora, Evan and Barty. The more time he spends with the group, the more life gets breathed back into him. It’s not much, but it’s something. By the time the train pulls into Hogsmeade Station, he’s laughed once and there’s a hint of a small spark of life in his eyes again. He throws an arm around your shoulder and pulls you into his side as you walk toward the carriages.
“Thank you,” he whispers, his breath hot on your ear.
You turn to look up at him. “Don’t be thanking me just yet, Reg.”
He chuckles softly.
“Love, you were somehow there when he left. That in itself is enough for me to be showering you in gratitude.”
“Going soft on me, are you?” you laugh, leaning more into his side.
He rolls his eyes, a sign his old self is still there.
“I care for you. And I’ll be damned if I ever let you forget that.”
He presses a kiss to the top of your head. “I don’t think I can.”
“Good.”
You stay by his side all through dinner and all evening in the common room. You didn’t let the boy out of your sight until you walked him to his dorm and he bid you goodnight. Once the door closes between you, you let your cheerful mask fall. You had tried to catch Sirius’ eyes during dinner but he seemed to look everywhere but the Slytherin table. It soured your mood, but you wouldn’t let Regulus see that. You had to be strong and gentle for Regulus. For the Black that wouldn’t fully push you out of his life. Not that you would give Regulus the option to do that.
You could feel Dorcas and Pandora’s eyes on you as you stalk across the common room towards your dorm. You had been positively beaming when you walked away with Regulus and now, without him, you were scowling. They corner you in your dorm as you brush your hair, preparing for bed.
“So, you and Black?” Pandora asks, her tone light.
“What do you mean, Dory?” you respond, looking at her in the mirror’s reflection.
“Seemed cozy. Close. Almost like Evan and Junior,” Dorcas says.
You snort a laugh. “God forbid a girl has a male friend. He had a rough summer and you know he trusts me.”
“He put his arm around you after you held him the entire way here,” Dorcas points out and Pandora nods in agreement. “That’s something.”
“I assure you, it’s not.”
---
With each passing day, you and Regulus spend every spare second together, as you had in previous years. Only this time, you’re making sure that he is okay and present. It’s obvious to you every time he disappears into his mind. His eyes gloss over and any expression on his face dissipates into the numb expression he had when his parents dropped him off at Kings Cross. When you see him in passing, he has the look on his face and he’s more rigid than you had ever seen him previously. You know he’s just getting through the day and will relax once he’s back in the common room or library with you.
When he’s with you, you see his old self coming back, but there are still the effects of the summer without Sirius. He’s more jumpy and paranoid. You catch him glancing over his shoulder, and your shoulder, periodically, like someone is going to walk up and attack them. He flinches when people raise their voices or a room gets too loud. You do your best to tell people to quiet down or find a believable excuse for you and Regulus to leave. It works well enough and Regulus always gives you a grateful smile.
You’re not sure what possesses to check on Regulus a month or so into the term. You put on your robe before heading down to the common room. A hunched-over form scribbling away at one of the tables tells you that you don’t need to go to the dorms to find Regulus. He’s already up. You walk over to him, ensuring your steps make noise and going to sit across from him.
“What are you working on?” you whisper.
He still jumps at the sound of your voice.
“Reworking a Charms essay.”
“Didn’t I already proofread that for you? I thought it was done,” you ask, narrowing your eyes at the parchment.
“Uh, yeah. It was finished. But it can be better. It needs to be better. I don’t want to settle for an E. I want an O. Mother wants an O.”
He looks back down at his essay and continues to write until you reach over the table to put your hand on his wrist.
“Regulus, you’re supposed to be sleeping. And the essay you already wrote was O material.”
“I won’t be able to sleep until it’s perfect.”
“It is perfect.”
“Then more than perfect. It has to be better.”
“Regulus, look at me.”
He raises his eyes to look into yours. His grey eyes are bloodshot and his face pale.
“You need to sleep. It’s three in the morning.”
He shakes his head. “I won’t be able to sleep.”
“The essay is-” you start to say.
“It’s not the essay,” he cuts you off and then sighs. “I dream of home when I sleep.”
“Oh.”
There’s silence, except for the occasional crack or pop from the dying fire. Regulus stopped working on his essay. You try to think of a solution.
“What if… I stayed with you until you fell asleep?”
“You should be sleeping too, though.”
“I’ve gotten a few hours already,” you remind him.
“What if I dream of there again?” You can hear the fear in his voice and it breaks your heart.
“I can stay until morning, if you think your dormmates won’t mind,” you suggest. “I don’t think Junior would mind, but I don’t know about the others.”
At your offer, his eyes start pleading for you to do so.
“Please stay.”
You nod, stand up and hold out your hand to him.
“Come on then. Let’s get you to bed.”
He quickly collects his items from the table and takes your hand. You lead him back to his own dorm. Regulus lights a small light before he gets ready for bed. The curtains of the other beds in the room are pulled closed, giving the boys their own privacy. You sat on the edge of the only empty bed, obviously Regulus’ with all of the House of Black monogrammed items. You didn’t crawl under the covers until Regulus did. You let him get comfortable first before wrapping yourself around him.
“Just focus on my breathing, yeah?”
“And you won’t leave?”
“I’m not leaving until morning.”
Your presence in Regulus’ dorm becomes more common. He would let you know when he needed you there. Enchanted notes would fly into your dorm and wake you up if he woke up from a particularly horrid dream. You would be there in an instant, helping lull him back to sleep. Dorcas and Pandora said “I told you so” when rumors of you and Regulus dating circled briefly. You shut them down quickly. Whether anyone actually believed you wasn’t the point; it was that no one was talking about it. You did take pride in being scary when you needed to. You knew you had to split your focus between Regulus and lessons, not silly rumors.
Some days were better than others for Regulus. You knew it wasn’t going to be all sunshine and roses, but it was nice when those days came along. And you made sure to be there when a day just went to shit. Things had been trending upward the further you got into the semester. You had been able to become less attached at the hip with Regulus. He had spent some evenings with Junior and Evan and some others that you didn’t particularly care for. But he was opening up again to his other friends and that was good.
Then one of his enchanted notes flutters into your Potions class. Luckily, you are working in the back near the door so Slughorn doesn’t notice the parchment fly in and land in front of you. You quickly read over the note and raise your hand.
“Professor, may I use the loo?”
Slughorn looks a bit shocked at your interruption.
“Yes. Go. Be quick if you can.”
You nod and hurry out of the room. You find Regulus in the alcove he had described. He’s hugging his knees to his chest and visibility shaking. His face is hidden, but you know he’s been crying. You crouch next to him.
“Hey,” you say softly.
He flinches but then lifts his head. You were right; tears were streaming down his face.
“What happened?”
“I-I don’t kn-know. There was a n-noise a-a-and something hit me. I c-couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t see. I-I just ran.”
You wrap your arms around him. You hold him for a few minutes in silence, except for his ragged breathing and sniffles. You rub circles on his back and arm where your hands rest.
“Thank you for the note,” you whisper.
He nods. He doesn’t know why you’re thanking him for it, but who else was he supposed to send for? Sirius?
After the rest of classes, you decide to skip dinner. While you’re sure that Regulus would’ve benefitted from your presence, you needed to clear your head. You pace around the castle, corridor after corridor, floor after floor. You come across a door you’re unfamiliar with and you peer inside the room. Your face lights up at the piles of old broken crates. The room looked abandoned and you’re fairly certain you’ve never come across this room before. You crack your neck and launch spells at the crates, making them explode and catch fire. There must be some sort of enchantment on the room because the piles of crates never end. You are able to go through what must’ve been hundreds of crates until you are tired. Your system feels momentarily cleared.
---
Regulus sending for you during class set something off in you. While you had been mad at Sirius for leaving Regulus alone, now you are furious. You know part of your anger is fueled by what Sirius did to you, just casually ending a years-old friendship and never truly acknowledging you again. You waited for the right time, rage boiling inside of you. You hid it from Regulus and the girls, but it was there. You knew it was there.
When the moment presented itself, you approached Sirius and his friends. They had claimed a shady area by the Black Lake and were lounging around. It was secluded enough that you felt no shame in the scene you knew you were about to throw. You had decided that Sirius’ decision that you weren’t to acknowledge each other was done.
“What do you want?” Peter asks with a sharp tone. He is the first one to notice you.
At his question, the rest of the boys look up to see who was walking up to them. You notice a brief look of warning cross Sirius’ face.
“You left him alone,” you say, trying to be firm and steady but it comes out accusingly. You’re only looking at Sirius. You don’t care for the rest of them right now.
Sirius blinks at you. His expression is unreadable, not giving you anything to go off of.
“You two know each other?” Remus asks, sensing the tension you’re giving off.
“How could you leave him alone? In that house with them?”
“Padfoot, what’s she on about?” Peter asks. He’s giving you a wary look.
You know Sirius understands exactly what you’re getting at.
“This isn’t the place,” he says coolly.
“You left him behind and went to hide at the Potters,” you continue. You look at James briefly. “Full offense by the way.”
“Oi, what?” James gasps.
“Padfoot, is she talking about-?” Remus starts to ask.
“Regulus? Yeah, I am.” You shoot Remus a soft smile before turning back to Sirius with the anger bubbling up within you. “After everything, I know they were horrible to you, but how could you leave him there alone? Did you see him when they dropped him off?” A dry laugh escapes your lips and your voice rises. “Wait, of course not! You weren’t there for him. I know you stood between them and him for years but suddenly disappearing? That’s so fucking cowardly, you dipshit. He wasn’t prepared. He wasn’t ready.”
“Regulus is an open book, isn’t he?” Peter mumbles. “Airing the Blacks’ dirty laundry?”
You turn to Peter with a much more harsh look on your face. “I forgot that you all don’t know.” You don’t need to see Sirius’ face to know he’s giving you his own furious look of warning. One that says ‘Don’t you dare.’ “Sirius and I go way back. At least we did until he became the family disgrace and I wasn’t in the same house.”
“Sod. Off,” Sirius says. All calmness that had been in his voice previously was gone. “This isn’t about you.”
“It’s fucking about me when I’m the one putting him back together. When I was the one who found him. When I was the one who offered him somewhere safe. All because you left him.”
“He’s their golden boy. How bad could it be?” Peter asks, leaning back on his elbows as he stretches out.
“Wormtail, you stay out of it,” Sirius warns.
“You called him that.”
“Black, you could learn a thing or two about loyalty. You got a wicked case of abandoning people who care for you. Boys,” you cast a glance around the group, “just know it’s only a matter of time before he leaves you for dead because something better for him came up. Consider yourself warned.”
The boys watch as you stalk off toward the castle. You leave a thick silence in your wake. Once you are a safe distance away, the boys turn their glances to Sirius, who is fuming.
“So Sirius?” Remus asks, his words cutting through the silence.
He didn’t say anything, still staring in the direction you had gone.
“Padfoot,” James tries, “care to explain what that was? Or even, who?”
When Sirius still doesn’t say anything, Remus answers part of James’ question. “Y/N. She’s one of Regulus’ friends, I think. I see them around each other a lot. Slytherin, obviously.”
“Okay, but she said she goes ‘way back’ with Pads, not Regulus,” Peter points out.
“Yeah, because we do and they don’t,” Sirius finally speaks up. “We live… lived near each other. Met at a park when we were small. When being at home was too much.”
The others wait for him to say more. He doesn’t, at least not willingly.
“And?” Remus pries. “What was all of that?” He gestures to the space where you had berated him.
“Suppose the result of mixing my moving in with James and her friendship with my brother.”
“Okay, and the bit of about loyalty?” James asks. “Like, what was that?” He lets out an awkward laugh.
“I may or may not have told her we weren’t friends like a week into first year,” Sirius mumbles, not meeting any of their eyes.
The boys exchange confused looks with each other, not fully understanding.
“Why?” James follows up.
“I… don’t know. Some mix of betrayal of not knowing she was going to be here and her being a Slytherin, I guess. It felt like a connection to my family that I was able to separate myself from by being a Gryffindor, you know?”
Remus shakes his head. “But, mate, if you were friends before Hogwarts-”
Sirius cuts him off. “Try my closest confidant.”
“That’s even worse,” Remus continues. “I’d imagine she was pretty pissed when you left her. Coming here and you see a familiar face that tells you to fuck off?”
“I mean, I was pleasant to her. We just aren’t friends anymore! And we didn’t see each other at home anymore either.”
“I’m willing to bet that’s your doing though,” Peter says.
Sirius sighs and nods.
“Padfoot, Padfoot, Padfoot…” Remus breathes.
“Should you be concerned about Regulus though?” Peter asks, his voice small as he knows talking about his family isn’t Sirius’ favorite thing. “She seemed pretty stressed ‘bout it.”
“Mildly,” Sirius says shortly. “He’s stronger than she knows.”
Remus gives Sirius an unsure look. Remus has seen how often you hang around Regulus and assumes you two were probably as close as the Marauders were. Only differences being you didn’t share a dorm and were in different years. Sirius didn’t see Remus’ look. He didn’t want to feel the judgment of his friends right now. Not when he had been yelled at by his oldest friends, one who knew of his home life better than the Marauders did. You had been there when he was subjected to his parents’ moods and opinions year round as compared to only having to survive a few months with them.
Sirius didn’t sleep well that night. He kept tossing and turning but ultimately failed at becoming comfortable and falling asleep. He tried to just rest with his eyes closed. It didn’t help that his mind was endlessly spinning and replaying your words, your concern for Regulus and fury at him for leaving Regulus behind, rather than being happy for him finally escaping his tormentors.
The next day, he makes a point to find you after class. Being exhausted in class wasn’t conducive to paying attention, nor was still having you on his mind. His friends could tell he wasn’t in it; they mostly left him alone and tried to keep the professor’s attention off of him. Remus had made comments to James and Peter about thinking your intrusion had affected Sirius more than he would admit to them. Afterall, Sirius liked to keep his personal emotions close to his chest.
He finds you in the library with Pandora and Dorcas. He looks around nervously for Regulus, or Barty and Evan. He was more nervous about Regulus, but seeing Barty and Evan wasn’t my favorite scenario either. Luckily for him, it was just the girls. Dorcas and Pandora noticed him right away as he started to approach the table. You had continued working, not looking up.
“Uh, hey, Y/N,” he says awkwardly.
Dorcas and Pandora give him annoyed glares. You look up slowly.
“What, Black?” you all but spit at him. Had he not gotten enough of an earful yesterday?
“Can, uh, can we talk?”
Pandora cocks her head to the side as Dorcas glances quickly from Sirius to you and back. You blink at Sirius, as if bored. The girls next to you have never seen Sirius so unsure of himself, except maybe when he was walking up to be sorted, when the possibility of being a Slytherin still hung in the air.
“I guess,” you say with a sigh. “I’ll be back shortly,” you assure the girls as you follow Sirius into the depth of the shelves.
“How bad is he?” Sirius asks once you’re out of earshot of the girls.
You scoff. “Oh, so now you care.”
“I always cared. It’s just not something I talk about with the guys. He’s my brother.”
“He was wrecked when you left. Rightfully so, if you ask me. And he was ruined when he came back to school. You left him alone with them.” You were trying to keep your voice steady and low, not wanting to start a shouting match with him in the library.
Sirius sighs and runs a hand through his hair.
“Is that all you needed?” you ask. “Pretty sure I told you that yesterday.”
“How is he… now?”
You bite the inside of your cheek before answering. “He’s not the same, if that’s what you’re asking. Barely okay some days. It’s hit and miss, but overall, better the longer he isn’t there, I think. I’m worried about when he inevitably goes back. Christmas? Summer? All of our work this semester is going to go down the drain.”
“Our work?”
You roll your eyes. “Me, Dory, Dorcas, Evan, Junior. You know, the people that care about him.”
“I care about him.”
“The people that care about him enough to be around.”
“Being in that house was killing me. You know that. I had to get out.”
“It never would’ve killed you, Sirius. Drive you mad, yes. But not kill. Even on the worst days, you were never as bad as he is.”
“It’s not my fault he doesn’t have the common sense to get out.”
“He feels like he has to stay. I offered-”
“I know. You said yesterday. So he didn’t take you up on it and you still feel the responsibility to fix him?”
“It’s not a responsibility. It’s because he’s important to me. That’s why I helped fix you. You were important to me.”
Were echoes in his brain. Sirius shakes his head in slight disbelief.
“Still. He turned you away and you’re doing more than he’s asking of you. Why?”
You blink at him slowly and take a deep breath. What you wouldn’t give for it to be appropriate to smack him upside the head, but you needed to keep your composure.
“He came back to me. He’s opened up to me. He didn’t lock me out forever. Like you did.”
You feel like you need to scream.
“Excuse me.”
You turn and leave Sirius alone in the shelves. Pandora and Dorcas give you concerned looks as you take your seat again. They only look away from you when Sirius emerges from the shelves where you had left him. Their eyes follow him all the way out of the library before looking back at you and then refocusing on their own homework. You know they want to ask you what Sirius wanted but your demeanor says you aren’t talking about it now, and maybe never.
---
“What did you yell at my brother about?” Regulus asks you as you sit down next to him at dinner.
“Hm?”
“People are saying you yelled at Sirius and his friends yesterday. I think you scared a first year.”
“Reminded him that he’s a piece of shit.”
“What did he do this time?”
You give Regulus an intrigued look. “Why are you so interested?”
“My best friend chewing my own flesh and blood a new one? You’re kidding, right?”
“He came and talked to her in the library earlier,” Pandora adds, leaning forward.
Regulus turns fully toward you.
“First you yell at him and now he’s coming to talk to you? Darling?”
“Toldhimoffforleavingyou.” You have never spoken more quickly and quietly in your life.
“You did what?” Regulus gasps. Of course he understood you.
“He shouldn’t’ve and you know it,” you say, pointing your fork at Regulus before going to stab another piece of food. “Someone had to let him know and you obviously weren’t going to do it.”
“Because it was his choice.”
“Exactly. He chose to leave. He didn’t have to. He should’ve known better.”
“So you told him off. For me.”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t have to…” You see Regulus’ gaze drift over to where Sirius was sitting at the Gryffindor table and he frowns. “Maybe you shouldn’t have.”
You bite the inside of your bottom lip. It was easy to hide behind Regulus being your best friend as the sole reason, but yelling at Sirius had been cathartic. You finally got some sense of revenge for him abandoning you in first year. It felt so good to get that off your chest, at least in front of Sirius’ friends.
“It wasn’t just for you,” you mumble, half hoping that Regulus didn’t hear you.
“Then for who else?” Pandora asks.
Regulus turns back to you. He waits for your answer.
“For me.”
“For you?” Regulus repeats.
“I, uh, I was his friend before I was yours.”
Dorcas snorts from next to Pandora. “Bitch, when? You could barely look at him in first year and then Regulus was here.”
“Before Hogwarts. We live near each other.”
“He never mentioned a friend,” Regulus says softly.
“Okay, but then what happened? You’ve talked more in the past twenty four hours than the past six years,” Dorcas says.
“He said we weren’t friends anymore and yeah, that was that.”
Your friends all stare at you, each with a different expression on their face.
“Excuse me, what?” Dorcas asks.
You shrug. There wasn’t anything more to say; you could’ve mentioned that Sirius told you all about life at home, but you felt that was implied enough for Regulus.
“And you never talk?” Pandora adds.
“Huh,” is all Regulus says.
“So yelling at him was a little for me too. But the purpose was for you, Reg. He knows he shouldn’t’ve left.”
“Why didn’t you ever say anything?” Regulus asks.
“I didn’t think it really mattered. The Sirius I was friends with wasn’t Sirius Black. He was just Sirius and I was just Y/N. We weren’t wizards. We were just kids at a park. And then everything changed and the past was the past.”
“Kids at a park…” Regulus mutters, putting two and two together. “The one you said you visit often?”
You nod.
“I suppose… that makes sense…” He’s speaking slowly as he is still processing the fact that you knew Sirius and were friends before he had even met you. “And he was the one who left you?”
You nod again. He hums and puts his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to him.
“That’s his loss and my gain, I guess.”
You sigh in relief. Some part of you had thought Regulus would be furious that you hadn’t disclosed your previous friendship with his brother. Although, in your defense, like you had said, the Sirius you knew wasn’t Regulus’ brother. That Sirius had been an only child and a muggle. And if you could have had your way six years ago, you would’ve had both Black brothers as your friends.
---
Once again, what you had said kept Sirius up at night.
Were. Were. Were.
You were important to me.
He knew he was the reason he no longer was important to you. He had been the one to push you away. He had never found himself regretting it until now. As he goes through the next day’s classes, he wonders how he managed six years of ignoring you. You’re in almost every class he has. Your voice and laughter draw his attention. He never realized how much he missed hearing both, and even more so, being the cause of the laugh.
The rest of the Marauders aren’t oblivious to Sirius watching you, but they don’t say anything to him. They don’t understand how close the two of you had been before he ruined it. And they don’t understand that your yelling had really got in his head. That you coming to him, instead of listening to his command, forced him to realize how much he missed you and your friendship. He missed you and needed to fix it. He saw that he made a dire mistake pushing you away.
It takes him time to wrap his head around everything. After a week of trying to dissect your words in his head on his own, he swallows his pride and asks for help.
“What does it mean if someone says you were important to them?” Sirius asks, laying on his bed and staring at the ceiling.
“You need a grammar lesson? Okay.” Remus says. “Were. Used to be. Past tense. No longer important.”
“Is it a lost cause though?”
“Is what a lost cause?”
“Can you re-become important to someone?”
“I suppose it depends on what happened to make you unimportant to them.” Remus pauses, looking over Sirius. “Is this about Y/N?”
Sirius nods. He knows that Remus would be looking at him to see it.
“‘Fraid I don’t know enough about that to really say, Pads. She sounded beyond pissed at you.”
“How do I get her to see that I had to leave and taking Regulus with me wasn’t really an option?”
“You think James’ parents wouldn’t have taken him in too?”
“No, they would have. I don’t think Reg would have come with. Certainly not easily.”
“Did you ask him?”
“No. What if he told Mum what I was going to do? I was able to get out because I had surprise on my side.”
Remus thinks for a moment before responding. “When did y/n say that?”
“Last week, after she yelled at me. I went back to ask about Reg.”
Remus doesn’t say anything. Once again, he needs more information.
“She said Regulus is important to her. And I was.”
“And you want to change that?”
“The part about me, yes. I don’t mind that she cares for Reg. It’s… good he has someone. That he has her, of all people.”
Remus shakes his head and tries to stifle a laugh. Sirius looks over at him when he hears.
“What?”
“Padfoot, it’s really quite simple. I think you need to talk to her. Apologize for being an idiot. Maybe a bit of groveling. See if she has ideas on how you can help Regulus,” he says. “Girls like it when guys admit they were wrong. And you were wrong. Very. Extremely.”
“Shut up, Moony. I know. I know I was wrong.” He takes a breath. “And it’s hit me how much I miss her. I don’t know how I managed six years without her.”
“Tell her that. While you’re groveling on your knees. Begging.”
“Don’t make it sound so pathetic.”
“Can I come with to watch? I think it is going to be pathetic and that’s something I need to witness.”
“So you can tell everyone?”
“So I can tell everyone.”
---
Sirius corners you in the library. Well, not quite corners you. He finds you at a table alone. He sits next to you and turns your chair so you’re facing him.
“I was working,” you hiss at him.
“I need to talk to you.”
“Again?”
“Yes, again.”
“You only have a few minutes. Regulus is meeting me here after Quidditch practice. You need to be gone when he gets here.”
“Actually, I need to talk to him too. But you’re first.”
You narrow your eyes at him and cross your arms. You wait for him to talk.
“Okay. This is long overdue. I’m sorry.”
You scoff. “Sorry for what?”
“I wasn’t finished,” he says. “I’m sorry for pushing you away when we were first years. And for never talking to you. Never going back to the park. I was selfish and stupid. I still am stupid. The biggest idiot you’ve ever met.”
“I could’ve told you that, Black.”
He briefly purses his lips together at his last name.
“Continuing my idiocy, this is going to sound even more stupid. I didn’t realize how much I actually missed you until you yelled at me. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head. I don’t know how I survived the last six years without you. I need you in my life.”
You raise your eyebrows in surprise. “You missed me? Bit too late to be confessing that, don’t you think?”
“Yes, I know it is. That’s how stupid I am! Six years and being called a dipshit to get my head out of my arse.”
Your glare softens ever so slightly.
“So I’m sorry. I’m so, so, so sorry.”
“Okay.”
“Can I try to explain something? Do I have time?”
You sigh and lean backwards to see the clock.
“You have time.”
He smiles before his expression becomes serious again.
“I thought the only way to escape them was to leave on my own. To disappear out of the blue. If they had an inkling that I would actually leave, they might’ve stopped me. That’s why I didn’t say anything to Regulus. I wasn’t sure he’d want to come with, especially to the Potters’. I know I need to talk to Regulus on my own. But I want to try to fix it. I need to work on fixing my relationships with the Slytherins I never should’ve let leave my life.”
“I don’t think he would’ve said anything. Probably wouldn’t’ve gone with you, but he wouldn’t’ve been so goddamn blindsided.” You pause. “I don’t know if you can fix these relationships.”
“I need to try. Please. Let me try.” He got out of his chair and on his knees, as Remus suggested. “Please, Y/N. You were my first friend. The best friend I’ve ever had and I ruined it. Please, let me try to fix it.”
You’re looking down at him with wide eyes as Regulus approaches the table.
“What the actual fuck?” he asks.
Sirius immediately stands up, turning towards his brother.
“Regulus.”
“Sirius.”
“I’m sorry.”
Regulus put his bag down on the table, not breaking eye contact with his brother.
“Are you now?”
“I should have told you.”
“You should have stayed.”
“I couldn’t.”
Regulus sits down and looks away from his brother and at you.
“Regulus, I had to leave. I think for the same reasons you feel you need to stay. I know I was the one who left, but I don’t want to lose my brother.”
“You have James.”
“He’s not blood.” You knew it was hard for Sirius to say that. “You always have a place at the Potters’ if you want to leave. It’s okay to leave.”
“My invitation still stands too,” you say, speaking for the first time since Regulus joined you.
Regulus looks back at his brother and then to you again. He shakes his head.
“What is this?”
“I, uh, I am trying to start mending the bridges I burned with my idiocy,” Sirius says as he slowly sinks back into his chair. He looks at you. “Does he know about us?”
“About what?” Regulus spits.
“We were friends before Hogwarts. When I would disappear, I was usually with Y/N,” Sirius clarifies and Regulus’ face relaxes.
“Oh, that. Yes, I’m aware.”
You laugh, earning a sharp look from the librarian.
“Reg! Do you really think I’d be dating him without telling you?”
You were important. Sirius feels his face grow hot.
“Anyways!” Sirius says. “I want a second chance, even though I probably don’t deserve one from either of you.”
You look at Regulus, trying to read his expression. Sirius’ apology to you certainly felt more heartfelt than his to his own brother. Maybe there was a dynamic you weren’t familiar with between them, but you wanted Regulus to answer first. Your loyalty would be to him first. His face is stoney as he looks his brother up and down.
“Will you be better?” Regulus asks after a few seconds.
“I’m going to try. Whatever you need of me, except moving back in.”
“Of course there’s a caveat,” you sigh.
“No, no,” Regulus says, giving you a soft smile. “I wouldn’t ask you to move back in. But write? Keep me in the loop? Don’t prank me?”
“What about a friendly prank? Like something I would do to James, Peter, them.”
“Maybe.”
“And I will write. Daily, if you want. And even if you don’t stay, you’re welcome to visit the Potters’ or we can spend a day in the city or whatever.”
There is so much desperation in Sirius’ voice as he talks to Regulus that you almost feel bad for him. His apology could have used work, but he seems genuinely wanting to reconnect with Regulus outside of their parents’ grasp.
“And for you?” Sirius asks, turning his attention to you once Regulus seemed satisfied with him.
“What?”
“What will it take for a second chance?”
You look at Regulus, only to find him actively watching you. You can’t tell if he’s encouraging you to give him one or if he’s curious at what you’d require from him. You look back at Sirius with a grim face.
“I don’t know. I was never friends with Sirius Black.”
Sirius gives you a confused and hurt look. “But the park…”
“I was friends with a young boy named Sirius. He didn’t have a last name. He didn’t have a brother at home.” You sigh before continuing. “I suppose if Sirius Black wants to try to be friends, he can try and we’ll go from there.”
“Thank you. Thank you both. I promise I won’t blow it.” A wide smile is adorning his face as he stands up. “I’ll let you two study, but thank you.”
You both watch Sirius leave the library in silence.
“You think you’ll be able to forgive him?” Regulus asks you as he opens his bag and takes out his homework.
“We’ll see. That first year was hard. Guess we’ll see how much effort he really puts in. You?”
“If he keeps his word. We can be pleasant then, I think.”
You smile across the table at the younger boy. “You’re kinder to him than I am.”
“Family, you know.”
You roll your eyes. “You damn well know you don’t have to love family.”
“Then I’m choosing to. He’s Sirius. Something about him is loveable.”
You didn’t want to admit it, but you knew he was right.
---
It’s the little things. Sirius started making a point to say hi to you, and to Regulus. Pranks seemed to avoid you. He would approach you in the corridors and the library to chat. You could tell Sirius watched and cheered Regulus on the Quidditch pitch, when Slytherin wasn’t playing Gryffindor. He was taking the baby steps he needed to.
As much as you tried to hang onto your anger, you couldn’t. It didn’t wash away in one go, but it melted like an ice sculpture without a permafrost enchantment. It probably helped that over Christmas Regulus received the letters he was promised. Both Regulus and Sirius wrote to you, which the latter was more unexpected. They both told you about an adventure into the city that went well, only a few minor tense moments that passed almost as quickly as they appeared. You spent time with Regulus at the park, apparently at Sirius’ suggestion. So when the spring term was starting up and Regulus wasn’t a shell of himself as he had been at the start of the fall term, you really noticed how much effort Sirius had been putting in. He was really trying to not mess up his second chances.
Sirius finds you sitting in a window seat, reading a book you had gotten for Christmas. He leans against the wall and watches you for a moment. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy seeing you so focused and lost in the pages.
“Hey,” he says finally,
You look up. The shock of seeing him evident on your face, but you mark your spot and put the book down.
“Hi.”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah. What’s up, Sirius?”
You cross your legs so Sirius can sit at the other end of the window seat.
“If I had invited you to the Potters for a day over break, would you have come?”
You’re taken back by the question. It was unexpected and it felt loaded.
“I just… I almost invited you. I need to know if I should be kicking myself for chickening out,” he adds when you don’t respond.
“Honestly, probably not. I don’t know your friends, especially not the Potters. I don’t think James is too fond of me.”
“He’s come around a bit,” Sirius says. You can tell he’s trying to not look too hurt at your denial. “And how will they learn to love you if you don’t come around?”
“Love? Let’s work on simple friends, or acquaintances at school first.”
“Then Hogsmeade? Next weekend? Would you consider coming with us?”
You hesitate. A full day with Sirius and his friends is daunting. You were just beginning to be friends with Sirius. Jumping into his friend group felt like too much. Again, Sirius talks more when you don’t say anything.
“What if it was just me?”
“I’d consider just you.”
“Then I’ll tell the boys I won’t be going with them!” Sirius exclaims happily, jumping up from the seat.
“I said consider!” you call after him, but he’s sprinting down the corridor.
You did consider it. You thought about it during class and meals. You even talked about it with Regulus, who supported your reformed friendship with Sirius. He said something about the day in London with Sirius was more fun than he’d admit to Sirius so if he has a London day with him, you need a Hogsmeade day. And then you considered it and thought about it more.
You kept doing so until you hadn’t said no and were waiting for Sirius by the ground gates to walk to Hogsmeade. It was cold and snowing and Sirius was a little late. You pull your cloak tighter around your body. You can’t help but smile when you catch a glimpse of Sirius running toward you while attempting to tie his scarf.
“I’m late, I know! Please don’t hold it against me!”
You laugh at him as he huffs.
“Oh, just let me,” you say, grabbing his scarf that wasn’t remotely tied in a way to keep him warm.
You tie it for him and tuck the ends into his cloak so they won’t fly in the wind.
“There. Now let’s go! I’m thinking you owe me a butterbeer for making me wait.”
“If that’s the cost of being late, I can handle that. As much butterbeer as you want.”
Your day with Sirius goes smoothly. Conversations don’t run dry. The camaraderie is just like when you were younger. It’s fun and relaxing. After the Three Broomsticks, he follows you around a bookstore and then you follow him around Zonkos. You end up back in the pub for more butterbeer to warm you up before your walk back to Hogwarts.
“Did your friends even come to Hogsmeade today? I’m surprised we didn’t run into them,” you say, pulling on your coat.
“No. Said something about giving us privacy?”
“Do we need privacy?”
“I mean, I did explain that you weren’t ready to be thrown into a day with the Marauders?”
“Which is true. You have to admit, your group can be a bit much.”
Sirius laughs and holds open the pub door for you as you exit into the cold.
“We can be. I think Zonkos both cringes and celebrates when all four of us walk in. They make sales, but at what cost?”
“That’s the bookstore when I go in with Reg!” you say with a laugh.
“You know his book collection well?”
You nod. “We’re our own little book club, the two of us. And possibly edging on a library. If you ever take up reading, we got you.”
You lightly run into Sirius with your shoulder.
“Maybe I’ll have to. Sure would make Remus’ day to see a book in my hands.”
“If you need recommendations, you know where to find me and Regulus.”
You walk for a little bit without talking. Snow is still falling, flakes getting caught in your hair and on your eyelashes. You’re too busy watching where you’re walking to see Sirius sending sideways glances your way every few steps. You’re about halfway back to the castle when he puts his arm out in front of you to stop you.
“Why we stopping?” you ask, a shiver running up your spine as a gust of wind chills you.
“I’m going to risk my second chance with you.”
It happens before you can process anything. Sirius grabs your face and pulls it closer to his. He presses his lips to yours. He couldn’t help himself. In rekindling your friendship, he realized that something else was caught on fire inside of him. With each letter he sent you, he could only anticipate your response. He had hoped you wouldn’t want to go to Hogsmeade with all of his friends but would accept going with just him. He had been so nervous this morning that it made him late, but you had laughed and fixed his scarf. And then you just looked so beautiful with the white snowflakes in your hair. He couldn’t help himself.
His eyes search yours for a reaction when he pulls away. You don’t seem angry or upset.
“Darling?” he asks softly.
“How long?” you ask.
“A few seconds, maybe?”
“Not the kiss. How long have you liked me?”
“Oh. Sometime after you said you’d give Sirius Black a chance. But I think it would’ve been longer if I had never pushed you away.”
You nod, suddenly unable to form words. Your thoughts are running a hundred miles an hour. Sirius had been one of your first and best friends. Today had been a testament to how easy it was to fall back into the friendship with him. It wasn’t like you had ever truly stopped caring for him, nor that you have never imagined what might’ve happened between you if he had stayed. For Regulus’ sake, you always kept your thoughts about Sirius to yourself. You didn’t dare mention anything to Dorcas or Pandora in case someone overheard or they didn’t keep their mouths shut. Now, here you are, with Sirius in front of you, searching for a proper response after he kissed you. A Sirius who begged for forgiveness after being an idiot for six years. A Sirius who said he was going to risk his second chance.
You lean up and give him a quick peck on the lips. He stares at you.
“We’re lucky I gave you that second chance,” you say with a smile.
“We?” he breathes, leaning forward to rest his forehead against yours.
“We.”
Sirius kisses you again and is smiley so widely that you think his jaw must hurt.
“I guess I need to tell Reg,” you sigh as you reach to hold Sirius’ hand.
potions | regulus black
pairing: regulus black x fem!reader
summary: regulus invites his potions partner over to his family home to “help her practice”
warnings: DUBCON (MDNI 18+), choking, smut, rough sex
────── ☾ ──────
When Regulus invited you into his home to use his in-house potions lab, you were suspicious. Regulus always had a darkness to him, and as your potions partner, he was never cruel to you, but he wasn’t the type to make such a kind gesture.
You accepted, knowing you could really use the extra practice. Regulus was talented at potions, and you felt bad that you were barely any help in class. As strange as it may be, you figured some extra time would benefit you, and Regulus could teach you and thing or two, if he felt kind enough to do so.
“Come on in,” he said, gesturing you through the door.
You smiled as you followed him through the house, the lighting almost as dark as his all-black outfit.
“I keep my potions stuff in here,” he said, pushing open the door to his bedroom.
“In your bedroom?”
“Mhm,” he responded, completely nonchalant about the fact you were in his personal space, while you felt it was a little strange. You didn’t know him too well, though you were attracted to him, and now you were only a few feet away from his bed.
He walked over to the table. “You coming?”
You swallowed and approached him, looking at the large collection of jars and ingredients spread out on the table.
“Should we maybe let your parents know I’m here? That there’s someone else in the house?”
Regulus chuckled. “The only other person here is my brother.”
“Sirius is here?”
Regulus shot you a look. You and Sirius had a weird past- you hooked up a few times at parties, you caught feelings and he didn’t, and you never spoke again. It was all ancient history, but you still tried to avoid being around him at all costs.
“Why does it matter?” Regulus asked.
“It doesn’t,” you spoke in a small voice, drifting your attention to the table, “so? What first?”
“Figured we could maybe just make sure you’re set on ingredients,” Regulus said. Everything he said was so dry, low, and monotone, and it sometimes made conversation hard.
“I think I’m comfortable with the ingredients side of things,” you told him.
“You’re not.”
You furrowed your brow and looked at him. “Yes, I am.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Yes I am!” you fought, “I know my own skill levels, Regulus.”
“I don’t think you do.”
He was so nonchalant about everything, reorganizing ingredients and setting up potion recipes as he spoke, as if anything he said didn’t matter.
You sighed and gave up fighting it, letting him take control and decide where to go from here. There was no point in going back and forth on the same thing over and over again.
“How about we just start with Shrinking Solution?” Regulus asked.
“Fine by me,” you answered.
Regulus backed away from the table, watching you do nothing. You looked back at him. Did he expect you to just do it?
“Well?” he said, “make the potion.”
You sighed. Sometimes he was so annoying and condescending. You looked at the unlabeled recipe and removed 7 red rose petals from a case of singular petals.
You began to drop them one-by-one in the boiling water. You looked at Regulus, who nodded at you to keep going. “How difficult,” you said sarcastically.
Remus folded his arms in front of his chest, watching you carefully.
You added five drops of essence of violet, stirring counterclockwise exactly twelve times.
“I don’t remember shrinking solution having essence of violet,” you told Regulus.
“Are you claiming my recipes are wrong?”
“No, I’m just saying.” You sighed and continued with the recipe, counting out 4 cloves and prepping canary flight feathers.
He didn’t say a word, just watching you make the potion, until you had completed the instructions.
“I also don’t remember it being pink,” you pouted, looking confused at the pot.
“I could have sworn this potion had daisy roots somewhere-“
“Would you relax?” Regulus questioned.
“Something just feels off about it,” you said, inspecting the liquid.
“Does it smell right?” he asked.
You leaned in and sniffed. The potion smelt like lavender, vanilla, freshly cut grass, and all your favorite smells.
The smell maintained throughout the smoke that you breathed in, overtaking your senses and filling your lungs. “Fuck that smells good,” you giggled.
Regulus crept behind you as silently as he could. When you stood up, he was directly behind you, your back almost banging into his torso.
You spun around to meet his gaze. “Can I help you with something?” you asked.
“I don’t know, can you?”
Your eyes locked for a moment, and you were suddenly overtaken with adoration.
“I think I probably can,” you said, all logic going out the window as the potion took over your emotions, your focus completely on Regulus.
“Atta girl,” he tsked, gripping your waist as he looked down at you. “How you feelin’, pretty girl?”
You were overcome with intense emotion, but you fought to remain grounded in reality. “You motherfucker,” you said, letting Regulus know that you were aware he had you make the wrong potion. This was not Shrinking Solution, this was Amortentia.
“No idea what you’re referring to,” he said.
“You know,” you started, twirling his already wavy hair in your fingers, “you could have just asked if you wanted me.”
“Now could I?” he asked, intrigued and eager to hear you continue talking.
“Mhm.”
“I thought I wasn’t your type.”
“Why?”
“You slept with my brother, did you not?”
Your eyes widened a bit. “And you know that how?”
“He’s my brother,” he said, holding you closer to him, his tone finally lifting to a bit lighter of a place, “and I’ve been keeping tabs on you.”
You giggled. “Have not.”
“I have been,” he admitted, “had to make sure you weren’t fucking anyone who didn’t deserve you.”
“I haven’t been fucking anyone,” you told him honestly.
“I know.”
“You wanna know why?”
His gaze darkened.
You sighed, “the only person I’ve wanted to fuck is standing right in front of me.”
Regulus growled, gripping your waist even harder and pulling you even closer. “Then what did I do all this work for? Getting you over here, the Amortentia, you’re telling me I worked for it for nothing?”
“Maybe,” you giggled, amused at how much thought and planning went into getting you here. You weren’t obvious about your attraction to him, but it couldn’t be that hard to notice.
“I feel drunk on you,” you admitted.
Regulus smiled. You had never ever seen him smile before. You didn’t even know he was capable.
“You’re so pretty when you smile,” you said genuinely, a hand moving upward so you could run a thumb over his cheek.
He couldn’t help himself anymore, he crashed his lips onto yours. Your hand found it’s way to the back of his head, holding him closer. You whimpered into the kiss, desperation overtaking your body. You couldn’t help it, the scent of the potion was still filling the room, and you were consumed in Regulus.
“I want you,” you said in between kisses, eager to finally get what you wanted.
Regulus didn’t break the kiss or loosen his grip on your waist, but instead inched you closer and closer to the bed. You felt the back of your knees hit the mattress, and you jumped up, attempting to land on the mattress, but Regulus caught you, forcing you to wrap your legs around his waist.
He leaned over you, your back touching the mattress as you kept your legs around Regulus. He remained standing, the small of your back at the edge of the side of the bed.
Regulus finally broke the kiss, running his hands all over your body and inspecting every single inch of you. “I’m gonna make you scream so loud that Sirius will realize what he’s missing.”
You couldn’t help it, you started laughing. Your heightened emotions won, and the more you tried to stay quiet, the more hysterical your laugh became.
Regulus slapped your thigh. “What the fuck is so funny?”
“You.”
“Shut up,” Regulus demanded, kissing you to distract you from the hysterics in your brain. You melted back into him, forgetting why you were even laughing in the first place.
You were still having too much fun to let him win so easy, and you liked watching him work for it. “Make me.”
Regulus cocked his head to the side. “What did you just say?”
A giggle threatened to leave your lips. “I said make me.”
A hand suddenly squeezed around your throat, not completely cutting off your breath, but stopping your giggling.
Regulus flashed you a wicked smile. “That seemed to work, didn’t it?”
“Y-yes,” you squeaked out.
Regulus moved a hand in between your bodies, cupping your heat from on top of your underwear. You inhaled sharply, desperate for any sort of friction.
Regulus tucked his fingers into the band of your underwear, collecting your wetness with his middle finger as he traced it in between your folds. A sigh of pleasure escapes your lips, and Regulus watched your face intently.
You thought he was going to continue on like this, slowly working you up until you were ready for him, but Regulus had other ideas. Without warning, he shoved two long fingers inside of you, his palm resting on your clit and circling, as his fingers pumped in and out of you.
Your body responded, back arching off the bed, a hand still around your throat. You squirmed a bit, unable to stay still from the sensation.
Regulus watched your chest rise and fall as your back arched and fell, his cock hardening as he watched what he did to you.
He curled his fingers, hitting that gummy sweet spot within you, causing your walls to convulse around his fingers. “That’s it, pretty girl,” he cooed, “come for me.”
His words undid you, the coil of tension within you breaking as you came on his fingers, whines and whimpers constantly filling the room as you calmed down from your high. He pulled his fingers out of you, never breaking eye contact as he sucked your juices off of them.
Once his fingers were licked clean, he unwrapped your legs from his waist, removing his hand from your throat.
“Stay,” he commanded as he untied his pants, pushing them, along with his underwear, down enough to free his hard and swollen cock.
You let out an audible gasp at the size.
“What? Too much for you?”
“How-“ you didn’t even know what to say, “how is that gonna fit in me?”
“I think you’ll be fine, pretty girl.”
Regulus held his palm in front of your mouth. “Spit.”
You did as he said, and he used your spit to wet his cock, lining up his tip with your entrance.
“You want this?” he asked.
“Yes, Reg,” you replied.
Regulus almost showed you mercy when he heard the nickname, it just sounded so pretty coming from you, but he still didn’t. “Beg for it.”
You nodded your head no in protest.
A hand grabbed your face, pushing your lips out and positioning your head so that you had no choice but to look him in the eye. “Beg. For. It.”
“P-please, Regulus I n-“
Regulus slapped your cheek, hard. You gasped at the pain, almost stunned that he did such a thing.
“Use that pretty little nickname you called me.”
“Please, Reg, I need it, p-please-“
Regulus shoved his length into you, a moan of his name leaving your lips.
“Fuck, Y/N,” Regulus growled, setting a steady pace as he pumped in and out of you. He tugged at the bottom of your dress. “Off.”
You did your best to pull your dress off without interrupting his pace, struggling for a minute but eventually succeeding. Regulus leaned in and bit at your bra strap, snapping it back onto your body. He kisses the top of your breasts, shoving your nipples out of the cups, his tongue immediately sucking on one of them.
“Fuck!” you cried out, the pleasure of his mouth on your breasts and his cock splitting you open, and the scent of the potion still filled your nose, almost feeling like too much.
“Louder,” he demanded, serious when he said he would make you scream so loud that Sirius could hear you.
“Fuck, Reg!” you screamed at the top of your lungs, his pace quickening as you did so.
“Good girl,” he praised.
He sucked a sweet spot on your neck, your head rolling to the side to give him even more access.
He was slamming into you, the bed squeaking as your body rocked back and forth. Your legs were weak as they fell off the side of the bed, but Regulus didn’t want the position to change. He grabbed both of your legs, positioning them over his shoulders and fucking into you even deeper.
You squeaked and whined, not even capable of any genuine moans anymore.
“You gonna come again, huh? All over my cock?” Regulus gasped out.
“Mhm.”
“Words, pretty girl.”
“Y- yes!” you squealed, your high hitting you again as you squeezed his cock, a groan leaving Regulus’s mouth as he fucked you while you came, pace never faltering as you attempted to come down from your high.
Regulus was still chasing his own, his lips enveloping yours in a heated kiss as he snapped his hips as fast as he could until he came inside of you, erratic breaths and sighs spilling into the kiss.
“Fuck,” he said, running his fingers through his hair that was sweat slicked and falling in front of his face.
“God, I needed that,” you said, attempting to catch your breath as Regulus laid down next to you.
Regulus didn’t respond, he just stared at the ceiling, calming himself down.
“Reg?” you asked.
“Mhm?”
“You didn’t bring me here just to fuck me and piss your brother off, right?” you asked.
Regulus turned to you. “Do you think that low of me?”
“No. I’m just curious,” you explained.
“No, I didn’t bring you here to piss my brother off,” he answered, “it’s just a massive, massive plus.” He rolled over the placed a kiss on your lips.
Being Wolfstar's child would include:
-Having James Potter as your godfather (he'd definitely spoil you). When you went to Hogwarts, he either cried just as much as Sirius, or held Sirius whilst he sobbed.
-Going to the Potters' every Sunday for lunch. It's just a family tradition
-Being besties with Harry. Your dads and Godfather definitely arranged so many playdates for you two to become friends
-Having your own little Marauders nickname :,)
-Getting to cuddle with Padfoot when you're overwhelmed or just sad, but not okay with people at the time.
-Getting to ride Padfoot like a horse when you were younger.
-Having your own kid's leather jacket. You're the coolest kid in primary/elementary school, matching with your dad.
-Being raised on Queen and ABBA.
-Getting given your own record player when you go to Hogwarts.
-Having an overprotective uncle Regulus who secretly hopes you'll be in Slytherin.
-Getting majorly spoiled by said Uncle Regulus. He'd just be such a sweetheart to you <3
-He's really good with kids but no one, himself included, knows how.
-Having Mcgonagall as your unofficial Grandmother. If you ever get in trouble in Hogwarts, she would scold you, but with a fond smile on her face.
-She did the exact same thing with the Marauders.
-She definitely sent weekly letters to your dads about how you were doing in Hogwarts during 1st year.
-Being a sassy little shit. With Remus and Sirius as your parents, and Lily helping raise you too? You're the sassiest child the world has ever seen.
-Mastering Remus' eye roll at the age of four.
-If you play Quidditch, your entire family showing up to support you (and low key embarrassing you)
-Getting an excess amount of hugs, especially from Sirius. His baby just came back from shopping? Set down the bags and give your old man a hug. You've just gotten of the Hogwarts Express? Maybe he'll finish cuddling you by the time you have to leave again.
-Siriusly, So. Many. Hugs.
-Little forehead kisses from Remus.
-Just so much love in general.
-You growing up to be one of the smartest kids, but never once doubting how much you are loved by your dads, or by the rest of your family.
-And so much more!
____
An hour later, you stood outside of what must have been Sirius’ home. You weren't sure how Regulus had found the address. In the time that Sirius had been gone from the Black family, Regulus never uttered his brother’s name. Something told you that it wasn’t out of anger from Sirius’ departure. It was probably to keep himself safe. That made sense now.
“Regulus, what are we going to tell him?”
You asked. Regulus stood staring at the door. He was nervous about facing his brother but didn’t understand why. Regulus never blamed Sirius for leaving. He was a little moody that Sirius didn’t take him with him when he left but he understood Sirius’ reasoning. Sirius didn’t have a safe place for Regulus to tag along to. He also couldn’t ask the Potters to take in two children unexpectedly.
“The truth. He’s my brother. He’ll understand.”
“And if he doesn’t?”
You questioned. While you never had an issue with Sirius, you were unsure if he would be willing to entertain the idea of letting the two of you stay. Would you be putting him in an uncomfortable position? Would you be asking too much?
Regulus squeezed your hand.
“Then we will figure something out. Please don’t worry. You know that I will never let anything happen to you.”
“I know that, love.”
You replied as Regulus knocked on the door.
“It will be fine.”
Regulus murmured as the door opened.
Sirius’ mouth dropped the moment that he saw the two of you. Clearly, this was the LAST thing that he ever expected to happen.
“Regulus? Y/n?”
Sirius was stunned, to say the least. He thought after leaving to go to the Potter’s, his brother wanted nothing to do with him. Now here he stood…with an extremely bruised face.
Regulus took a breath before speaking.
“Hi, Sirius. We need your help.”
Sirius continued to stare stupidly at Regulus for a few moments before remembering that he could speak.
“Come inside.”
He managed to get out before moving out of the way. Sirius’ eyes dropped to Regulus’s hand that was still wrapped around yours.
Good. They are still together.
You were one of the few things that Sirius was glad Regulus held onto. If there could be one good thing in Regulus’ life you were it. You were the good example that Regulus needed to follow.
Sirius led the two of you into a small sitting room where Remus sat with a book on his lap. When he noticed Regulus and yourself step in, he automatically frowned and closed said book.
Regulus was no fool. He knew that Remus saw his face. That was going to be the topic of discussion until the bruising healed and he looked normal again.
“Okay, what in the hell is going on? What happened to your face?”
Sirius asked, sitting down on the arm of the couch beside Remus. Regulus sighed.
“I think you know what happened to my face.”
Sirius was on his feet in an instant and began pacing. He was totally enraged! Walburga was hitting Regulus again. Sirius had hoped that since he left, his parents would use that as a reason to treat Regulus better. Clearly, that was not the case.
“Why is she hitting you?”
Regulus shrugged. He hated that he had to say this in front of you. He knew that you probably had a feeling but that didn't make saying it in your presence any easier.
“Mum doesn’t approve of Y/n. I told her that I wasn’t going to give her up to marry some dolt that they picked out for me. After that…she really let me have it.”
Your hand tightened around Regulus’.
"If I didn’t hate Walburga before. I have a reason now.”
You thought as Sirius ran a hand through his hair.
“There is nothing wrong with Y/n. The two of you have been together since you were fucking 12. I couldn’t have picked a better girl for you. She has made you less…Black family like. I should go over and beat the hell out of dad and see how they like it.”
You gave Sirius a thankful smile as he continued on a rage filled tangent for a few moments. Regulus waited a moment before speaking. He knew that Sirius would be angry. If there was another thing that Regulus could give his brother credit for it was his protective nature. It didn’t matter how old Regulus was, Sirius always kept a protective eye on him.
“That is why I married her.”
Silence filled the room. Sirius had stopped his raging and fell back down onto the couch while Remus’ mouth dropped again. Remus was the first to speak this time.
“How did you marry her? The two of you are 16 years old. “
Regulus groaned.
“We lied! You don’t grow up in the Black family without stretching the truth on something.”
Remus muttered “oh shit” under his breath while Sirius moved to the edge of the couch.
“The two of you are 16.”
“Yes, we know.”
Regulus replied.
“What do either of you know about being married? What if you change your mind?”
“We won’t.”
Regulus again replied. Sirius took a breath.
“What do you want me to say?”
Regulus held his hands up.
“I wanted you to know. I would have felt silly just showing up and not saying anything! Look, I married Y/n because I love her. If she and I are married, mum and dad won’t be able to split us up. I’m not going to change my mind and neither is Y/n. We will both be legal in a few months. I know it may sound crazy to you two but to us it felt right. I had to keep Y/n safe too. Her dad is as bad as mum. I couldn’t stand by anymore and see her being hurt.”
Sirius looked between Regulus and yourself with a sad expression. This was another thing that he didn’t see coming. He didn’t expect Regulus to get married until he was made to. Whether it be to you or someone else, Regulus wasn’t one to step outside of his comfy little bubble that he made for himself.
Remus stopped his pacing and turned to face the two of you.
“You both realize how serious this is, right? Not only serious, but it will be difficult. Most marriages that start this young won’t last. Statistically…”
Regulus immediately cut Remus off.
“I know the statistics but we will be different. I simply need the two of you to have some faith in us. I also need help staying safe from mum and dad…not only mum and dad…”
Sirius frowned again.
“Who else is there?”
Regulus pressed his lips together.
“There is more that I haven’t told you. The death eaters have been trying to recruit me for some time now. You know there are only so many times that you can say no to those people.”
Regulus ignored the look of pain on your face. He hadn’t exactly told you about the death eaters trying to recruit him. You weren’t surprised. With the way the Blacks supported Voldemort and all of the dark magic Regulus knew it was only a matter of time. The dark lord probably saw a load of potential in Regulus…a potential that you didn’t want to think of.
Sirius was on his feet again.
“Nope, you aren’t going back. No way in hell are you going back…fuck it. I’ll go tell mum that she can take a toaster to the bathtub. Neither of you are going back to this shit.”
Remus nodded in agreement. He had a dark feeling that the dark lord would, at some point, find something good in Regulus. Remus has only been hoping that he would be wrong.
“The two of you can stay here. It would only make sense.”
You decided it was your time to speak. From the moment that Regulus had come to whisk you away, you had felt that your life was spiraling. You needed to regain some control.
“We can help too with whatever you have going on. We don’t want to be part of the problem that is happening in our world.”
Sirius nodded.
“The two of you are adult enough to get married so I think you are old enough to make a decision on who you support. I will warn you that it isn’t always easy…sometimes it's dangerous.”
“You can’t stop a madman sitting at home knitting a scarf.”
You replied. Sirius focused his attention back on your hand. Right away he noticed the engagement ring that his grandmother had specifically given to Regulus.
“No, you can’t. What is going to happen when your parents come looking for the two of you. Are you going to say that you love each other and that's what it's all about?”
You smirked at your now brother-in-law.
“No, that is the hokey pokey. We’ll figure it out when it happens. You made it when you ran away. I think we will be able to also.”
Sirius wanted to argue. He wanted to say that he knew it wouldn’t be that easy. Walburga and Orion would probably put up more of a fight for Regulus. Sirius always felt like he was the “practice” kid while Regulus was the son that they had always wanted. Regulus was the one that they seemed to not make most of the same mistakes with.
Regulus focused his attention back on his brother while absentmindedly stroking his thumb over your palm.
“I don’t care what mum and dad have to say. I will do whatever I can to keep us safe.”
Sirius was satisfied enough with that response. It appeared that Regulus was not being selfish. He was no longer the arrogant self-absorbed child that he used to be. It appeared that he had finally grown up.
“One question?”
Sirius asked as Regulus turned back to him.
“Yes?
“Is she pregnant?”
Both Regulus and yourself shook your heads. That was one of the LAST things that you even wanted to think of. Children had been something that you had discussed with Regulus. At the time, that was something that neither of you were interested in.
“We can barely take care of ourselves. It would be foolish to even think of such a thing.”
You commented.
“I don’t even like kids.”
Regulus added. While he didn’t mind taking care of you, the thought of another being so dependent on him for every small thing sounded absolutely miserable. He also didn’t want to entertain the thought of losing his precious sleep. Being up in the middle of the night with some angry human screaming at you while you were sleep-deprived was a horror that Regulus didn’t even want to entertain.
Both Sirius and Remus were relieved to hear that.
“Well, you are the responsible one.”
Sirius commented before leaning back into the couch. For the first time in a while, he was feeling somewhat better with the events happening.
“It's settled then. The two of you can stay here. You can stay as long as you would like.”
“Thank you.”
Regulus said as Remus turned to the doorway.
“Come on. I’ll show you to the guest room.”
Once the three of you were out of the room, Sirius ran a hand over his face feeling even more exhausted. He hated knowing that the two of you were having to grow up so fast but, unfortunately, it was just another sign of the times.
“Well, he’s not a little boy anymore.”
(meanwhile at Grimmauld Place)
Walburga sat in her sitting room, stirring a cup of tea. She was seething in anger after the altercation with Regulus.
Just what does he think he is doing falling in love with some halfblood? That boy was raised better. He knows better than to associate with scum. I’ll just have to beat it out of him. I can break him.
Walburga thought coldly. While she adored her youngest son, she was not about to let him throw his life away for a woman not worthy of him. She would not sit back and watch a half blood leach onto the family name and fortune. The family had worked too long and too hard to deviate from their Toujours Pur motto.
Why the men in this family must be so weak is beyond me.
She thought coldly. Men in the Black family being “weak” had been Walburga’s soapbox for a long time. From her brother Alphard to even her husband, Walburga constantly called the lot of them weak. Now, her baby was even stepping into that thought process.
Like his useless weakling of a father, he can’t say no to a pretty face.
Walburga was certain that she could find Regulus a suitable pureblood girl to marry. He didn’t have to love her. Regulus could hate her for all Walburga cared. He did, however, have a role to complete. Since her blood traitor of a son left the family, everything fell on Regulus. Walburga had a strange feeling anyway that Regulus would be the one to complete everything anyway.
“Walburga?”
Her brooding was interrupted when Orion stepped into her sitting room. Glaring at her husband, Walburga didn’t like when her “me time” was interrupted.
“What is it?”
She snapped. Orion immediately rolled his eyes. Why he put up with so much from this bitch of a woman was still a mystery of itself.
Oh, right. I have to.
Orion thought coldly before speaking.
“I was curious, did you let Regulus go out after we told him that he was to stay home?”
Walburga frowned.
“I told him to stay in his room until he was ready to admit that he was wrong and wanted to apologize. Why do you ask?”
Orion shrugged.
“I just came from his room and he isn’t there.”
Walburga’s typical frown intensified as she got up and started for the stairs.
“Regulus!”
She screeched his name as she practically kicked the door open. Walburga had been hoping that Orion was simply not opening his eyes properly and Regulus would be sitting on his bed. Unfortunately, it appeared that her head was right.
Inside Regulus’ room, everything was just as it had been. The bed was neatly made and all of Regulus’ belongings in orderly places. The only thing missing was Regulus himself.
Walburga walked around the room looking for any signs of her youngest son’s whereabouts. Finding nothing, Walburga turned to scowl at Orion.
“Have you checked the rest of the house?”
Again Orion rolled his eyes. This was yet another reason why he absolutely hated the woman that he was married to. She was downright ignorant. Walburga seemed to take pride in trying to make him feel as dumb as she was but always failed miserably.
“If you think that I am too stupid to take the initiative to look all over the house before I come to check with you then you are most welcome to scour the house yourself. I’ll be in my study when you discover that I am correct in my assessment that Regulus is missing.”
Walburga growled before shouting Kreacher’s name. A moment passed before the old house elf popped into the room.
“You called, my mistress?”
Walburga turned to the elf.
“Kreacher, where is Regulus?”
Kreacher looked hesitant for a moment. He knew exactly what Regulus was doing and didn’t want to out him. Kreacher knew, sadly, he had no choice but to tell Walburga the truth.
“Master Regulus has left. He said that he was leaving. Master Regulus didn’t exactly say where.”
Kreacher decided to slightly embellish that he didn’t know where Regulus was going. He knew. Kreacher had seen Regulus take the engagement ring from the desk drawer. If Regulus was going anywhere, it was to you.
Walburga stood motionless for a moment before screaming. Both Kreacher and Orion jumped slightly. Neither party was expecting that loud of a noise so suddenly.
Neither said anything for a few moments as Walburga stood stewing in her rage. Walburga immediately stomped over to the desk where the engagement ring lay. She hoped that she was wrong but something told her to check on her mother’s ring.
Pulling the drawer open, Walburga felt around until a small velvet box touched her fingertips. She quickly pulled the box out and opened it. Just as she suspected, there was nothing in the box. Her mother’s ring was gone just like her youngest child.
“He took the ring.”
“What ring?”
Orion questioned as Walburga turned. She glared at him as if he was the single most stupid being on the earth. Throwing the empty box at her husband’s chest, Walburga started yelling at Orion again.
“My mother’s ring, you fool! The engagement ring that she left Regulus is gone! He has probably taken it and ran off with that half blood bitch!”
Autumn / Regulus Black
Neither of you can blame Sirius for running away.
The sound of students’ feet fluttering about was drowned out as Regulus focused on the door before him, eyes hard after abandoning the blank canvas perched atop its easel. Tossing the clean paintbrush from his hand, he watched as the brazen knob turns; brows shooting up in surprise as you peeked inside.
Just as shocked as he was, you cleared your throat rather awkwardly, while you were both evidently avoiding each other’s gaze. “Regulus.. may I come in?”
You saw the boy nod from your peripherals, looking down at his hands just as you gently closed the door behind you, the soft pattering of your feet on the carpet-clad floor loud in the spacious room. Slowly setting yourself down on the bed bench adjacent to the fireplace, you glared back at the flames, before Regulus deemed you startled by sparking up a conversation.
“..What’d you think of to be here?”
The frown on your face melted away, a contemplative look replacing it as you raked your brain for a second or two to come up with an answer, tilting your head to the side and sighing as you massaged the flesh of your neck.
“The same thing that you did.”
Regulus raised a perfectly arched brow, crossing his arms on his chest. “Sirius’ room in Grimmauld?”
You stifle a snort, “Probably.”
For the first time since you had entered, your stare drifted to his face, taking notice of the small smile that grazed his lips— a scarcely, stark contrast to the expression he bore outside of these four walls.
Meticulously analyzing his features from the usually neat tuft of black, curly hair atop his head, your eyes stopped on the slope of his nose, pausing to admire the little freckles littering the tip. You looked away, sighing.
“He’s been ignoring me. Your brother.”
“I figured that much.”
Your lips quirked up bitterly, an acidic taste enveloping your mouth at the fact. It was quiet for a while, the tenseness in the air noticeably shifting as you fiddle with the suffocating tie on your neck.
Reluctantly scrambling off of the stool, Regulus made his way over to the bed, settling on the foot of it. The untouched sheets crumpled, the mattress groaning beneath his weight. “I miss Sirius.”
He gently muttered, toying with the hem of his sleeve that ended on his forearms. Your eyes wandered, landing on the moving photograph of him and his older brother, remnants of their youth displayed on their faces as they showed off their pearly whites, albeit with a tooth or two missing.
“I.. I’m sure he misses you too, Reg. He loved— loves you through the bone.”
You offered, meeting his gaze. Neither of you looked away, and in that moment, it had been abundantly clear that you both sought comfort within the other.
The light reflected on his pale skin, dancing across the gloss over his eyes and the sharpness of his jaw, settling on the dark circles apparent of the late nights he had spent without a shut-eye. Pondering, you abruptly stood, taking calculative steps towards where he sat.
You took a hold of his wrist, softly beckoning him to rise from his spot. He relents almost immediately, letting you drag him to where his discarded art materials lay.
Still intertwined, you searched through Sirius’ shelves for some of his old vinyls, their covers a gallery of faded colors. You fingered along the spines, unflinching as they gathered dust, the crackling sound of each album shifting against the cardboard.
Pulling one from the box, the weight of it had left your hands satisfied as you slid it out of its sleeve. The hiss of the needle settling onto the record player filled the room, the turntable beginning to hum gently, letting the spinning disc produce a lone piano note sound through the air like a mist over the lake.
The music had acted as a quiet pulse in the background as you led Regulus to a space that was not as crowded, carelessly shrugging your robe off of your frame before clasping your fingers with his, your other hand trailing up his shoulder. With haste, he held onto your waist, sighing as the sounds enveloped the two of you, each one tender and light, yet full of sorrow.
Your feet moved in sync, reminiscent of the time you’d danced together during one of his parent’s elaborate balls, where you hadn’t noticed Sirius’ absence at the time. A pang shot through your chest, and you physically resisted from the pain.
Regulus guided the both of you as you slowly glided on the polished floor, twirling you under his arm as you laughed quietly. Before long, the two of you grew restless, heaving breaths just as you transitioned to swaying. You looked up at the younger boy, a tender smile plastered on your lips.
“You look so much like Sirius,” you mumbled, flickers of sadness fading away into the air like the wisps of wind as you cupped his cheek, thumb running across the expanse of it. “I don’t know if I’d ever live with that fact.”
The chuckle he let out sounded like it hurt, “Neither do I.”
You rested your head on his chest, an unbearable shadow that creeps, uninvited, into the quiet spaces of your mind badgering your heart. Its presence is sharp and insistent, like a thousand thorns pushing through your skin, each one leaving behind an echo that lingers long after the initial sting has passed. It claws at your thoughts, distorting everything into jagged edges.
“It’s quite ironic, isn’t it? Mourning the living more than we do the dead.”
Regulus felt you nod against his embrace, his limbs aching as he held you close. You were the closest he’ll ever be to his older brother once more.
He rubbed at your back, sight unfocusing as memories of the only person he has ever looked up to swarmed his vision. “Maybe it’s more painful to know that they could walk back into our lives again, but choose not to.” You sniffled, clutching at the fabric of his button down.
“I didn’t think he’d go through with his plans. I couldn’t stop him. It was his freedom before my protection. Still, I didn’t want him to leave me, but I never did want to disappoint my mother and father.”
You empathize with him, knowing that he felt about the situation deeper. “I understand.. I—I just didn’t think that it’d mean disappearing on me, too. No letter, no nothing. Not even a few words.”
Regulus shifted slightly, his hand moving from your back to stroke the hair away from your face, his touch lingering. “He didn’t know how to say it,” he murmured, “he doesn’t know how to say things. The love he had for you, it was there—beneath all the anger, all the rebellion, all the walls he built around himself. It was always there, just buried too deep for him to show it in any way that made sense.” You inhaled sharply, a small, broken laugh escaping your lips as you closed your eyes. “He was a mess. He couldn’t make sense of his own feelings.”
“Every day,” he continued on, voice barely above a whisper. “It was the same thing, over and over, until I wanted to scream at him to just tell you. Tell you how much you meant to him. But he never did. Instead, he just kept talking about how he couldn’t... how he didn’t deserve you.”
You felt the sting of his words, pressing your forehead against his chest again, unable to keep the tears from slipping down your face. The silence that followed felt heavier than the puffs of breath that escaped your throat, a thousand things unsaid, too many words that would never be spoken.
Regulus held you tighter, and your voice broke through the silence like a fragile thread once you calmed. “I know it’s not the same, and I know I’m not him, but.. I’m here. We’ll figure things out together, eventually. Especially dealing with your parents.” You chuckled, feeling your pulse pick up as you melted into his arms, the moment making an imprint in your thoughts as the beginning of a new chapter in both of your lives.
