Decomposing 'refrigerants,' a potent greenhouse gas, using industrial waste
A research team has developed a technology to decompose refrigerants, a greenhouse gas 1,300 times more potent than carbon dioxide, using challenging-to-handle industrial waste. Dr. Ryi Shin-kun's team at the Hydrogen Convergence Materials Lab of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) has successfully developed a catalyst from industrial waste known as "red mud," a byproduct of aluminum production. This catalyst can decompose HFC-134a refrigerant, commonly used in household appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators, with an efficiency of 99%. The study is published in the Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Red mud is an industrial byproduct remaining after extracting aluminum oxide from the mineral bauxite. It contains oxides of iron, aluminum, silicon, and other elements, giving it a red color. More than 200,000 tons are produced annually.

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.

Imagine Tim and Damian absolutely scrapping in the garden.  Punching, rolling, pulling Alfred’s hard work straight out of the ground.  And Bruce walks out with his morning coffee to watch them for a bit before pulling the garden hose on them.
The two only stop once they slip on the fresh mud and tumble apart.  They sit there and stare at each other for a bit before walking inside and giving their father a big hug and thank him for teaching them how to get along.  Of course Damian makes sure the handful of mud he brought with him is elegantly smeared on Bruce’s face before they part.

All hail the tumblr mobile gods I am able to post again 🙏
Over the weekend I attached Tiger's lighting to the canopy of his tank. It's making maintenance and feeding wayyy easier and looks so much less chaotic. Going to do that eventually w all three turtle tanks.
Still got to finish his basking spot but I keep scrapping all my designs. Never satisfied 🥲

The thing that makes me insane about Dick and Jason specifically is that they were both only children. They had to learn how to be brothers together. They went from strangers to friends to brothers in my mind. The original batsiblings.

Team describes how to produce 'green' steel from toxic red mud
The production of aluminum generates around 180 million tons of toxic red mud every year. Scientists at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung, a center for iron research, have now shown how green steel can be produced from aluminum production waste in a relatively simple way. In an electric arc furnace similar to those used in the steel industry for decades, they convert the iron oxide contained in the red mud into iron using hydrogen plasma. With this process, almost 700 million tons of CO2-free steel could be produced from the 4 billion tons of red mud that have accumulated worldwide to date—which corresponds to a good third of annual steel production worldwide. As the Max Planck team shows, the process would also be economically viable. According to forecasts, demand for steel and aluminum will increase by up to 60% by 2050. Yet the conventional production of these metals has a considerable impact on the environment. Eight percent of global CO2 emissions come from the steel industry, making it the sector with the highest greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, aluminum industry produces around 180 million tons of red mud every year, which is highly alkaline and contains traces of heavy metals such as chromium.

that mini-series with Jason is either going to be great or it’s going to be DC “proving” to us that jason would’ve needed to stop being robin anyway because he’s not cut out for it
