So why do we celebrate the wrong leaders? Sometimes it comes down to pure racism and sexism. We have a well-documented bias for associating leadership with white men. But there is another culprit at work as well—what I like to call the action fallacy. Our mistaken belief that the best leaders are those who generate the most noise, action, and sensational activity in the most dramatic circumstances. In other words, we confuse a good story for good leadership.

But the two are not the same. As a matter of fact, very often, good leadership will result in a bad story.

The action fallacy causes real problems, not just for our interpretation of the past. It affects leadership today. We see leadership potential in people who speak more, regardless of what they say. In people who appear confident, regardless of how competent they are. And we admire people who are perpetually busy, regardless of what they're actually doing.

Appearing to be a good leader, rather than actually being one behind the scenes, is the path to fame, bonuses, and promotions today. This causes problems. With the wrong leaders in charge, organizations don’t perform at their full potential. It creates a toxic culture where those doing good work feel overlooked and demotivated. And worst of all, it’s a self-perpetuating cycle.

The good news is, we can overcome this. It starts with re-imagining what good leadership looks like. We must celebrate those who mitigate rather than promote drama. They are obsessive planners, build strong processes, and create cultures that bring out the best in people.

Despite how obviously chaotic the other boys are I think that two things are actively disadvantaging and maybe even endangering Time rn

1) his worry for Twilight’s welfare and that of the others

2) his penchant for distancing himself from others.

He’s healed a lot from his adventures and the trauma of them thanks to time (heh) and Malon’s kindness, patience, and unconditional love. HOWEVER the things we endure remain with us even if they do not hurt quite so badly anymore (especially when they occur in such drastic ways during such formative years). Somewhere inside (perhaps not so deep now) is that terrified little boy who won’t allow himself to trust or love again. Who doesn’t want to get too close cause “nothing ever lasts”

He’s used to going it alone. He’s spent longer being solo than he has being married or teamed up with the other Links. His approach to tackling dungeons — whether chaotic or organized or somewhere in between — has always been the same.

Alone.

He’s the one who plummets down endless abyss.

He’s the one who bleeds and breaks and gets lost.

He’s the one who figures it out in the end.

And that’s okay. Because it’s lonely. It’s scary. But it’s only him who is in danger. And he can deal with that.

When it’s only him he doesn’t have to worry so much. He’s got a certain degree of control (real or imagined). And that is what he’s grappling for right now. Control to change a terrible fate he still sees looming. Control to keep his boys from suffering the way he has.

But now, with this last update, he realizes he doesn’t have it.

And while his expression here makes me laugh, it also saddens me. Four’s right and he knows it, he’s trying to resign himself to it.

Them remaining together — remaining with him, under his watchful eye — will end in their deaths at this point. It’s just not working.

He’s virtually powerless to keep them all safe. He’s the Hero of Time and he’s virtually powerless.

And that might just break him. Because the fear is still there. The fear that something will happen to one of his boys and he should’ve been there. He should’ve been there to stop it.

But he wasn’t.

Like he wasn’t there to protect the others from the Iron Knuckle

And that will consume him, weaken him. Until the Shadow can exploit it

There's something here. Carmy is shaped by the two women in his life - the comparison between Claire and Donna - but also influenced by Andrea and Sydney to lead with a gentle approach.

Something here about feminine leadership-based on empathy, intuition and collaboration.

It's not toxic masculinity - being a ' ball breaker' like Chef David.

Carmy desires for Sydney to push him the same way Chef Terry did.

Natural team dynamic progression over stream for Blue team (Soulfire) [Day One of purgatory]:

Split into two main groups—

Farming/base-bound: Tina, Missa, Lenay, Niki

Fighters/Runners: Bad, Tubbo, Pierre

Tubbo is main official leader, and Bad and Tina have been acting as co-leaders per their groups for the most part. Tina had been the biggest support leader and the main person keeping morale up within the group-- Missa, Lenay, and Niki being her main supply runners/farmers that she distributed tasks through. Pierre has become main runner who turns in missions, while Tubbo and Bad run distraction. Majority of plans are thought up by Tina, Bad, Tubbo, and Pierre, and are run through Tubbo before execution.

They’ve maintained lead the entire stream for the most part.

I gravitate towards jobs and such in which I make decisions, and prefer to live alone which comes with many decisions, and then do creative hobbies that require me to make so many decisions, and I thought "Huh, decisions are hard, what would a nice day without decisions look like?" I go back and forth between Riverwood and Whiterun.

Riverwood's quiet, beautiful, and a short/pretty safe walk by Skyrim standards to Whiterun. You kind of get the best of both: you have decent ground to farm, are on a water source, and have both fish and plenty of options for hunters to bring in other meats like venison and rabbit. You have a lumber mill, a blacksmith, a trader, a cozy inn, and a few good families to live alongside.

You even have some petty small-town drama because the three single people living there make up the world's most childish love triangle.

You could also have a whopping two potentially eligible bachelors if you're a young woman in town in either Ralof or Hadvar, which is two more than you usually get in most cities in the real world.

That said, I would definitely never be opposed to living in Breezehome. Adrienne and Ulfberth would be great neighbors, you have decent security with the walls, guards, and guild of werewolves (thus, very little thieves guild problem and no real vampire problem) just around the corner, and a temple full of healers.

The screaming preacher is arguably of a much higher quality than what you get in the real world, too. At least this one believes what he's yelling about and genuinely isn't there to fight anyone. He's just really passionate about Talos and I can respect that.

Riverwood and Whiterun are where it's at, and Jarl Balgruuf is objectively one of the better jarls.
