Danny and Damian are twins but they get separated at age 7, years later when they’re both 14 they both are going to high school and their schools decide to create a program where they wind up as pen pals to each other unknowing that they’re talking too each other as it’s been set up to be anonymous. Danny decides to take a leap of faith and encrypts a message about the media blackout around his town and how they’re overrun with ghosts and could use the Justice Leagues help through out all of his letters knowing that very few could actually understand it but he just felt so tired and this was the only way he could think to get any help for his town.

Damian just wonders who exactly his pen pal is to encrypt these letters like this.

do you have any tips for writing speculative biology?

Speculative biology—(also referred to as "speculative zoology", though it is by no means limited to animals) is a sub-genre of science fiction which combines speculative fiction (i.e., Science Fiction, Fantasy, Alternate History and everything in between) with creature design, and deals with evolution in the future, on other worlds, or in alternate timelines, the same way that many other sci-fi works discuss technology.

This is one of the most fun sub-genres to explore. Here are just a few writing tips.

Read/watch a lot of media that plays with this sub-genre, and learn from them. Examples:

A Memoir by Lady Trent - Marie Brennan describes a low fantasy world with largely the same culture and animals as real life, but also home to very diverse dragons. The dragons are given extensive analysis through the character of Lady Trent, a naturalist dedicated to studying their taxonomy, anatomy, behaviors and ecology.

Dreamwork's How to Train Your Dragon - sometimes dabbles in this, displaying different types of Dragons as different species with a couple overlapping traits, implying that they evolved from a common ancestor. This is most prominently shown in Book of Dragons which describes at least 6 major taxonomic families of Dragons that most dragons in the franchise belong to.

Doctor Who: "The Lazarus Experiment" - has Richard Lazarus being mutated into a fearsome giant centipede/scorpion-like monster after an experiment with an anti-ageing machine goes wrong. The Doctor describes the monster as a creature of evolutionary potential — something that evolution could have turned humanity into if it hadn't gone the "two arms and legs, ten fingers and toes" route — lying dormant within Lazarus' genes.

Research a lot. Here are just a few resources that may help you in writing this sub-genre, particularly with creature design:

After doing all the research, and the devouring, and the hoarding of all the resources you can get your hands on, hoping they'll bleed into your story once you start writing, because admit it, you are procrastinating by asking this question—here is the writing tip that pervades all genre: let go. IDK if it’s actually a trend or just one couple’s hilarious communication style but I keep seeing reels/shorts of this one couple having “arguments” by pressing their faces/cheeks/noses against each other (like kissing but not) and whisper-shouting at each other and neither can keep a straight face and it always resolves hilariously.

Sort of piggy-backing off of your previous posts about Eddie and Steve being mid-tiff and ridiculous, I just imagine Steve coming in after the other teachers leave, sitting on Eddie’s lap and literally getting in Eddie’s face with his face like “hey, asshole, what gives?” Bonus point if Eddie had been live.

I am picturing this whole event happening a little after Eddie started using Tiktok.

So, Eddie (and Steve by extension) is nowhere near as popular on the app as he’s going to get. He has his following of metalheads and D&D nerds, but he hasn’t even explicitly said that he’s married yet.

After he said his hellos and goodbyes to Steve and the other teachers, he went down to the studio, picked up his guitar, and started a live-stream because sometimes it’s better to work out your creative process with an audience. He’s not great with the camera set up yet so the way it’s angled, you get the guitar, his hands, and his torn jeans, but it’s cut off at his mouth.

He’s in the middle of working the kinks out of an angsty guitar riff when the door to the studio opens and closes, and you can hear footsteps. A hand reaches into frame, pulls the guitar out of Eddie’s hands and replaces it with the hand’s owner.

Steve climbs into Eddie’s lap and straddles him, but all you see on camera is Steve’s nice jeans and his Christmas themed grippy socks. You also get to watch Eddie’s hands rest on Steve’s hips for just a second before sliding into his back pockets. Eddie’s voice sounds real fucking casual when he hums, “What do I owe this pleasure?”

Steve sounds anything but casual when he replies with, “What gives, asshole? You embarrassed me.”

“I embarrassed you?” Eddie said in a voice that sounds like he is about to go on a monologue across cafeteria tables. He ignores Steve’s pouty little ‘don’t’ start’ to instead slide a hand up to the back of Steve’s neck and pull him in closer. “Did the freak embarrass you, Ste-“

“Don’t call me that,” Steve huffs, a laugh in his voice. “What are you, my father? Call my what you always call me.”

“And what is that?”

“I’m not embarrassed of you,” Steve says instead of answering. “I never have been.”

“You won’t see a movie with me.”

“I want to see the movie!” Steve exclaims, shifting so their foreheads are pressed together. He looks Eddie in the eyes even though it makes him feel cross-eyed when he does that. “I didn’t say I didn’t want to go. I just – I don’t want to do the carpet.”

You can tell from the sound of Eddie’s voice that he’s pouting when he says, “I wanna show you off.”

“Next time,” Steve promises like he promised the last time and the time before that. He kisses Eddie on the tip of the nose and then pulls back, “You’re fogging up my glasses.”

Steve says that he’s hungry and wants to go get dinner, so Eddie reluctantly lets him out of his lap after one last squeeze of his ass. Steve pulls Eddie to his feet and they leave his live-stream audience with an image of the studio’s ugly orange couch as they go upstairs.

‘Eddie Munson gay’ trends on Twitter for the next week which is amazing to Eddie because, “Seriously, guys? It’s insane how many times I’ve had to publicly come out as queer when everybody in my high school seemed to know instantly.”

Can we talk about a missing scene? It’s during the Job job. It definitely happened, and we definitely didn’t get to see it. It's the scene where they figured out the magic trick with the ox ribs.

Here's the thing. We see bits and pieces of the night in the basement (Crowley and his wine, Aziraphale and his ox ribs... and whole ox... and etc.), but what we don't see? The planning! The discussion of the trick.

Because for the bamboozlement of the angels to work, they need props. Aziraphale has to have the ox ribs and the kids in lizard form on him at the time of the transformation. This means they needed to have a conversation about the plan beforehand. And I don't know about you, but this goes far beyond a spur of the moment Bildad shenanigan and takes it to a forerunner of the Arrangement.

I want to know how that conversation went. (maybe i should write it?) (edit: I wrote it)

Ok so in all honesty I’m hoping the look Buck’s mom gave after seeing him and Tommy was nothing more than her old brain trying to understand and process what she was seeing…

I really hope if his parents mention Tommy anytime soon on the show the depth of angst is so shallow it doesn’t even faze Buck… maybe even surprises him a little that it goes so well. Because we don’t have much time left with Buck this season and even less with Tommy and I want it to be so happy and easy for them

listen I know we're rooting for "white hair streak" Callum as a symbol / effect of dark magic, and while I think it's more likely than the alternative, given that it has largely been Claudia (and Ziard's) territory thus far, I think we're underselling the tragic potential of Callum being given the corruptive face instead of a white streak

The facial / bodily corruption physically manifesting has solely been demonstrated through Viren thus far, who is Callum's primary foil (even if he, like many others, also has parallels with Claudia and her dark magic use in particular)

We know that just one spell can warrant the corruption (Viren received his after healing Soren) and require it to be hidden

Seeing the corrupted face of himself was enough for Callum to reject being a dark mage in 2x08, but as we know, neither that nor the threat of Aaravos was enough to make him not do it again in 5x08

Just as Viren's dark magic face informs his duality and how honest he's being with himself and others, if Callum wears his / in the lead up to his immediate second possession, it could show a similar erosion of identity (i.e. that Callum has lost himself physically and mentally due to the possession)

We also know there's a way to heal heavy dark magic corruption other than just Purification given the Mushroom mage's spell with Zubeia. Possible symbolism of Callum being returned to normal / uncorrupted and healed once he breaks free?

Viren's corrupted face, even though he covered it up, is something he links to Lissa ultimately leaving him. Meanwhile, one of S6's inversions will seemingly be Callum likewise going to extremes / following in Viren's footsteps, and Rayla being the opposite of Lissa in refusing to leave

Rating Chapter II Princesses based on whether you would be able to hug them in their routes

The Damsel already canonically hugs you, and she’d do it again! (if that would make you happy) 5/5 would hug again :>

The Witch absolutely would not trust you getting close enough to hug her: she’d either interpret it as you getting close to try and stab her, or as yet another attempt to gain her trust and betray her later. If you tried, I think she’d bite you, or try to swipe the knife from your hands while you’re distracted. 1/5 just give her the blade instead

The Beast has no interest in hugging you: she's much more interested in consuming you, actually. The only way I could see you getting close enough is if you played dead, then jumped up to hug her once she approached you, but even that would be short-lived (and so would you. your life would be short.) 2/5

I don't think The Prisoner would willingly hug you: sitting too close to her is enough to break her trust, let alone trying to directly touch her. It's only logical: when someone has a history of being possessed into attacking you, it's wise to keep your distance; and that's not even accounting for her lack of agency in the situation. I guess you could hug her body after she decapitates herself... but that's gross on so many levels. The Prisoner doesn’t strike me as the type to enjoy hugs anyway, regardless of extenuating circumstances. 1/5 no one is happy with this.

The Adversary is only interested in fighting you head-on, but I don't think hugs and passionate violence are mutually exclusive. It's about the connection you share through physicality, y'know? The Stubborn would gladly hug her as he drives your blade into her side, and the Adversary would gladly hug you to crush your bones in the strength of her embrace. 5/5 for a passionate and reciprocated hug! 

I doubt The Tower would properly hug you herself because any attempt to do so would probably crush you, which wouldn’t be such a big deal for her if it didn’t involve using her hands. I could see the Broken hugging her by sort of clinging pathetically to her ankle, and the Tower might accept it as an act of utter devotion to her. 3/5 

The Spectre isn’t usually possible to hug, being a ghost. She becomes corporeal for a moment while ripping your heart from your chest, but hugging her then would be difficult since she’s actively restraining your movement, and she definitely wouldn’t reciprocate given the circumstances. You could also hug yourself while she’s possessing you, and if you were kind to her earlier I think she’d appreciate the gesture. 4/5 you could make it work

Hugging The Nightmare would be challenging, since physical contact with her breaks the Paranoid’s focus and lurches your body towards imminent death. That being said, in those cases the Nightmare initiates the contact rather than you, and you are capable of stabbing her with enough conviction. Maybe in one of your many forgotten lives before the Moment of Clarity, you could've concentrated your will in order to hug her? (I mean, you had to get the Smitten somehow...) As for how she’d feel about it… maybe she’d find it cute, in a pathetic way? Maybe she’d find your struggle meaningless, knowing how futile it is. Or maybe, being the vessel who desires companionship but only knows how to hurt, seeing you so driven to deliver a show of compassion would resonate with her…? 3/5 for physical psychological and emotional damages

The Razor thinks hugs are great! She loves it when you come within not-stabbing distance of her, which is of course necessary for a hug, so really you should just come closer now!! I think she’d happily reciprocate the hug only to sink her blade arms through your torso with a laugh. 4/5 would be nice while it lasted

You could totally hug The Stranger while you’re freeing her and slaying her and leaving her to languish alone in the basement. Everything's possible, right? The Contrarian would probably get a kick out of it too if he wasn’t being consumed by the horrors. As for once she’s converged into a single form, I don’t think they'd resist a hug from you, but they also wouldn’t reciprocate it. They'd have too many conflicting feelings… Strange Beginnings would hug you though! all/5

With how intense Twilight's magical surge was when getting her cutie mark realistically, she would have scars from flying debris. With how strong the magic was, she could have completely burned off the fur on her horn completely and made her horn unable to grow fur back.

If you want to go to extremes she could have lost the horn completely if Celestia wasn't fast enough.

She was probably extremely exhausted from magical overuse and i wouldn't be surprised if they had her stay in the hospital for a few hours at least maybe even a dsy or two. A magic surge that strong for a kid that young is probably pretty serious and seriously taken. She probably had to wear a magic dampener of some kind during the first few months or even year of being taught magic by Celestia just out of precaution. And more for Twilight's physical health than anything. Magic that strong in such a small body is probably uncomfortable at least

Rayllum Month 2024 - July 15th: Second First Kiss

Callum and Rayla stood with their hands on their knees and panted, along with Sneezeles and Stella who sighed in relief on Callum’s shoulders. The massive explosion, followed by the inferno that nearly overtook the ship which lead Callum to rush in to Rayla’s aid, was finally gone thanks to his spell. The smoke was still too thick and suffocating, causing them both to cough. They leaned on each other, arm in arm, and helped each other walk out.

They finally reached an exit, leaving behind the scorching fumes of the ship and went into the freezing winds of the Frozen Sea. They felt their faces start to sting from the sudden temperature change. The two of them focused on catching their breath despite the air being too cold for their lungs. They finally faced each other, checking if they were each doing well. Then suddenly, they rushed into each other’s arms.

“I thought I was going to lose you,” Callum said, his voice deep with emotion, as his arms tightened around her. They breathed deeply as they held each other then pulled back.

Callum then reached for Rayla’s cheeks and cupped them in his hands, warming her skin from the bitter cold surrounding her. Much to her surprise, he immediately pulled her face closer to his and she felt his lips against hers. Rayla’s eyes were wide open and her whole body felt petrified. So many thoughts and feelings ran through her head all at once as her heart pounded in her chest and she felt her whole body consumed by a rush.

Callum slowly pulled away, but leaned his forehead against hers, slowly opening his eyes to look straight into hers. He felt a tinge of awkwardness, wondering if he acted too soon as he noticed her dazed look. Before he could back away or say anything, Rayla wrapped her hands around his neck and kept him close.

More, her eyes signaled to him.

They simultaneously closed their eyes and their lips met once again. With each passing moment, their kiss grew more intense and passionate. Rayla ran her fingers through Callum’s soft hair, and he gripped her back with one hand and her head in his other, leaving no gap between them and neither of them planning to let go anytime soon.

Once they finally pulled away, they looked into each other’s eyes and let out a soft giggle. For the first time in two years, they were this close to each other again.
