Some concept art I'm doing. I'm commission a Sculptor to make me a figuring. I wanted to do a figuring of my own depiction of "Nox" the Roman goddess of Night. This is almost done. I just need to fill out the image board so the sculptor has more references to help with texture and other stuff. I couldn't find Nox actually symbol.... so I just stuck with her Greek counter part symbol. I really like how this is coming out. But sadly work is taking up most of my time.

altars for titans and protogenoi
This post more than any of the others is going to be mostly upg or spg. Hardly anyone in antiquity spent a lot of effort worshipping most of these deities, especially the protogenoi, so resources are limited. If you have suggestions or personal addendums, feel free to leave them in the comments. I made a lot of decisions based on what the herbs/crystals are usually associated with: for example, black tourmaline is associated with Nyx (the night) therefore Chaos (the embodiment of the primordial soup and basically the universe) has black tourmaline too.
Also, all the deities on this list can be honored with libation of wine, milk, honey, and oil; offerings of meat or desserts; and burning frankincense/myrrh.
Disclaimer: this is not all of the protogenoi or titans that exist, these are just the most recognizable ones that have the most lore attached. I used theoi.com to research all of these deities.

Chaos design symbolism!!!!
Okay so I have so many thoughts about the change in Chaos's design and if don't share them I might just implode. Basically I think about the change in their design denotes a cycle of rebirth and death/ decomposition. In their Hades 1 design they look like this:
I view the amorphous faces as an embodiment of their experiences throughout a long phase in their existence. I would also like to point out in this design they are growing a baby.
This is very similar to the new design, where what I believe the head of Chaos's Hades 1 designs head is growing another baby.
So from this I think that Chaos is a constant state of change and rebirth as a microcosm of the universe under the big crunch theory.
Which basically states that the universe is always expanding until it implodes, creates a subsequent big bang, and continues as such. Based on that the design from Hades 1 would be placed on this timeline towards the end before the implosion, and the Hades 2 design right after the big bang.
Another thing that I find very interesting is that Chaos seems to be materialist in nature as they have elements of their past in both their designs, denoting that creation does not exist in a vacuum. This is done with the faces incorporated into their body, and holding the skull of their previous form respectively.
Gah! I love symbolism!! Of course the deity of creation is a perpetual state of change that reflects a theory of the timeline of the universe while at the same time internally representing their previous selves as an embodiment of the materialist nature of existence!!!!

An altar for Aether 🛐
🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️
Thinking of setting up an altar or devotional space for the all seeing god of light and sky, the ancient god Aether? Cool! Working with a primordial deity can be an enlightening and rewarding experience for sure! And aether is certainly one of the less intimidating to do so with, and a great way to start exploring primordial deity devotion! You’ll need an altar of course, so why don’t we look at some ways to get started?
• STEP ONE: Colors and Cloth 🌈🧶
In order to start your altar, wether that be upon a tabletop, a floor corner, a shelf, or a drawer, it’s a good idea to lay down a cloth or fabric of the color associated with the god you intent to make it for! Aether, being the god of light and the sky, has 2 colors historically that are associated with him. Yellow, Lavender, and light blue! These colors can be a common theme on his altar space, and a cloth or fabric in one or both of these colors is the place to start! Used fabrics can be found for fairly cheap at most thrift shops, or at textiles shops, such as for example: Value Village, Johanne’s, or local sewing shops. Bonus points if you can find a piece of fabric scrap with related iconography on it as well! Such as the sun, or beams of light, in Aether’s case.
• STEP TWO: dishes, vessels, utilities. 🏺🕯️
The next thing you’ll want to add to your altar are some of the larger, more utilitarian pieces you wish to decorate with, these can include things like tarot decks, teacups or plates to hold offerings, offering bowls, candles, or books. It is also a good idea to select bowls, dishes, and teacups that line up with the iconography and sacred symbolism of the god the altar is dedicated to. For example, where an altar to say, Demeter, may have these objects decorated with symbols of farming, Lily of the valley, wheat, or autumnal imagery, an altar to Aether might have these same objects decorated with symbolism of things like clouds, the sun, birds, or angels/cherubs!
• STEP THREE: Idols and Tributes 🪆♟️
Another important way to respect your altar and it’s god is to decorate it with Idols of them, like statues, sketches, or other artworks depicting them! You can also donate tributary items to the altar, such as little figurines or charms of things associated with them, for example, my Artemis altar has a small porcelain cat figurine, and my Freya altar has a guilloche heart trinket. Perhaps an altar to Aether could have a song bird figurine, or a statuette of an angel or cherub!
• STEP FOUR: traditional offerings 🍷💎🫚
Some traditional offerings like food, drink, crystals, herbs, flowers, etc. are an important, and very easy offer to make to your altars, and can easily be placed in the vessels and dishes you keep on the altar space. These offers vary on the god associated, but I’ll list some good ones for Aether below!
- 🌸: Lavender, Violets, Wisteria.
- 🫚: Saffron, Coffee beans, Chamomile
- 💎: Celestite, Angelite, Amethyst.
- 🍗: Blueberries
- 🍷: coffee, tea, honey
• STEP FIVE: Iconography
The final step to creating your altar is the use of divine iconography. These symbols, emblems, and motifs celebrate your gods lore, history, and sacred things. You can honor this by finding things donning the iconography associated with your god! For example, almost all of my altars utilize antique painted porcelain or ceramics in some way, I have a porcelain sugar dish painted with strawberries for Aphrodite, a tea plate with wheat sheathes for Demeter, and an antique English teacup with Lilacs painted on it for Pan! Some of the sacred icons of Aether may include: Lavender, Saffron, Eagles, Griffins, and clouds.
☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️☀️🕯️
Now that you’re altar to the great god of Aether has been set up, you now have a proper dedicated space to devote yourself to him with! Pray to him for luck with the weather, ask him to guide to the light, and tell him your stories, and enquire for his wisdom. May Aether bless you and your brand new altar! 💙🏛️💙

Namma/Nammu
𒀭𒇉
Sumerian Goddess, primarily from the city of Eridu
Mother of the Gods. Creator of Mankind, specifically in Eridu, elsewhere this role went to Nintur or Ninmah
—How to use internet archive link
🔵 Information
From Gods Demons & Symbols by Black [Internet Archive Link]
"Nammu was a goddess who was considered, in some traditions, to have given birth to An (heaven) and Ki (earth) and to many more of the more ancient gods. Especially she was regarded as the mother of Enki. She came to be thought of as one of the mother goddesses. Her name is written with the same sign as engur, a synonym of abzu, and it is probable that she was originally a personification of the subterranean ocean." [p134]
Dictionary of Ancient Near Eastern Mythology by Leick [Internet Archive Link]
Her name is usually written with the sign engur which was also used to write Apsu. In ancient times she personified the Apsu as the source of water and hence fertility in lower Mesopotamia. She may well have been worshipped in Eridu before Enki, who took over most of her prerogatives and functions. Significantly he was called the son of Nammu. In spite of her decline following the superiority of Enki, during the Neo-Sumerian period, at least at Ur, she was still considered important enough to have statues commissioned in her honour and she also features in the name of the famous king Ur-nammu. In mythology, Nammu appears as the primeval Mother-goddess in Enki and Ninmah who 'has given birth to the great gods'. She has the idea of creating mankind as a help for the gods and it is she who goes to wake her son Enki, asleep in the Apsu, that he may set the process going. [p 124]
Handbook of Gods & Goddess of the Ancient Near East [Google Books Link]:
"Namma: Sumerian goddess of the primeval, subterranean ocean. In the lexical series Diri the name has a syllabic rendering na-am-ma. In some traditions she was the mother of the sky god An, the earth goddess Ki, and a number of other deities. Enki/ Ea, the god of freshwater and wisdom, was considered her son. In the myth of "Enki and Nin-mah," when the other deities began complaining about how hard they had to work, it was Namma who awakened Enki from his sleep to urge him to create more creatures to take on the work of the gods. However, he delegated the task to Namma, who then received the credit for creating human beings. There was a shrine to the goddess in Marduk's great temple at Babylon, and at least one other of her sanctuaries is known"[p222]
Excerpt from Oracc [Link]:
"Very little is known about Namma, who belongs to the oldest generation of Mesopotamian deities and is associated with the pantheon of Eridu. She is mainly known for her role in the cosmogony of early Mesopotamia and her importance in magic, which is restricted to texts written in Sumerian [...]. According to the god list An-Anum, tablet I line 28 [...], Namma bears the title "mother who gave birth to the heavens and the earth. Because this goddess's name is written with sign for "(cosmic) subterranean waters" (Sumerian: engur) Wiggermann [..] has called her the "Cosmic Ocean. [...] In the Sumerian poem of Enki and Ninmah (ETCSL 1.1.2, line 17 link) Namma is called the "original mother who gave birth to the gods of the universe", again according her primary status among all the gods and describing her role in Mesopotamian cosmogony"
Section from Enki & Ninmah (ETCSL 1.1.2) [Link]
*Bolded part that explains her mother of Gods role, and also her creating man (different deities depending on myth)
*How deity, people, and place names are spelled is wildly inaccurate in the ETCSL, they don't even follow their own rules. But I still did not change the quote
"The gods said, weeping: "He is the cause of the lamenting!" Namma, the primeval mother who gave birth to the senior gods, took the tears of the gods to the one who lay sleeping, to the one who did not wake up from his bed, to her son: "Are you really lying there asleep, and ...... not awake? The gods, your creatures, are smashing their ....... My son, wake up from your bed! Please apply the skill deriving from your wisdom and create a substitute for the gods so that they can be freed from their toil!" At the word of his mother Namma, Enki rose up from his bed. In Hal-an-kug, his room for pondering, he slapped his thigh in annoyance. The wise and intelligent one, the prudent, ...... of skills, the fashioner of the design of everything brought to life birth-goddesses. Enki reached out his arm over them and turned his attention to them. And after Enki, the fashioner of designs by himself, had pondered the matter, he said to his mother Namma: "My mother, the creature you planned will really come into existence. Impose on him the work of carrying baskets. You should knead clay from the top of the abzu; the birth-goddesses will nip off the clay and you shall bring the form into existence. Let Ninmah act as your assistant; and let Ninimma, Cu-zi-ana, Ninmada, Ninbarag, Ninmug, ...... and Ninguna stand by as you give birth. My mother, after you have decreed his fate, let Ninmah impose on him the work of carrying baskets."
The Harps That Once by Jacobsen [Google Books Link]
"Namma, Enki's mother, was probably seen as the power in the riverbed which, empty or nearly empty in summer, gives birth to the fresh waters, to Enki, in the spring flood. This interpretation gains a measure of support from the fact that the cuneiform sign with which her name was written served also, if supplemented with the sign for "water," to write the word for "river." Etymologically the name Namma goes back to Nin-imma (nin-immaran-amma nama›namma) "lady female genitals," a personification of the numinous power to shape, mature, and give birth to the child, and it is as birth goddess generally, rather than as goddess of the riverbed, that the text here characterizes her. That latter aspect she may conceivably have acquired because the mythopoeic imagination conceived of the great gash in the earth which the dry riverbed presents as the genitals of Mother Earth herself, and the prototype of all female parts everywhere. Namma's role as birth goddess generally and as the one who gave birth to man probably represents a local tradition, perhaps at home in Eridu. Elsewhere it is the goddess Nintur, or Ninmah as she is called in this composition," [p 158]
From Wiggermann "Nammu" [PDF Link]
*He disagrees with Jacobsen on Nin-imma, but Wiggmann addresses many other authors both agreeing and disagreeing but its too densely written for me to even remotely understand the back & forth between the Assyriologists.
"Nammu is an ancient goddess of Eridu, who plays a part in the local (and early national) mythology as creatrix/mother goddess and as supporter of Enki in Magic. Most references relate to either of these two roles [...] Only her epithet "(^munus)agrig-zi-é-kur-(ra-)ke", "true housekeeper of Ekur" points outside Eridu to the pantheon of Nippur, but it may be due to a confusion with Nin-imma, Enlil's scholar and scribe." [p 137 Column 2]

Hundun, the Chinese primordial chaos. Before even the Tao had been formed by the hands of Shangdi, Hundun existed in a state known as wuji, an infinite primordial sea of nothingness. Hundun is chaos, unending, infinite confusion, the purest and natural opposition to Tao, balance incarnate. The four evils are the four most prime manifestations of Hundun’s chaotic waters, with Qiong Qi, Taotie, Taowu, and Hundun (a seperate earthly incarnation of Hundun). These four oppose the four sacred beasts who represent the Yin and Yang. Hundun is described as a faceless, six limbed creature sometimes said to have wings. The earthly Hundun and the other three perils were banished by Huangdi, the yellow emperor of heaven, because of which the earthly Hundun now prowls in the center of the earth, though his presence still lingers among corrupt officials and evil men.
Hundun is a sparsely mentioned figure in Chinese theology, mainly used as a term to refer to the primal waters before creation, this chaos was thought of as sentient or conscious. Eventually under Confucian influence Hundun gained its villainous role, ultimately this manifested into the earthly Hundun who was seen more as a demon or malevolent creature than a primordial concept. Though even during this time, the idea of Hundun being the primordial chaos was still accepted by a majority of people, with it gaining more traction than the Confucius view, though the two interpretations did intermingle. The word Hundun has many different meanings, though mainly translated as primordial chaos it can also mean torrent, water, muddy, confusion, or void, with all these still coming together to mean Primordial chaos. Hundun has been rendered in a multitude of different ways, like huntun, hunlun, hunhun and just hun. Hundun holds many different theological connections due to it holding the primordial chaos archetype, from this Hundun connects to the Mesopotamian Tiamat and Abzu, the Semitic Asherah, and even the Irish Danu. Hundun is also seen as a manifestation of the cosmic egg archetype, with it cradling the Yin and Yang before it hatched into Pangu.
