Just an idea

What about yuu with a paradox pokemon becuase of the whole thing about being from different worlds

ooh, I hadn't thought about that, but I like it! like, I think Grim fills the role of Yuu's pokemon (or vice-versa) (somehow) but I kind of love the idea that he's some kind of far-removed Paradox or alternate-timeline version of another pokemon or something. honestly, there would probably be a lot of theories about what exactly he is! mostly it involves throwing a lot of pokeballs at him and seeing what happens.

also just for fun I want to make him slightly more pokemon-proportioned:

fabian is the only bad kid with fully evolved pokemon I think (the staraptor was his father's)

Continuing on the whole "Alola thinks Mega Evos are bad!" thing... even though there ARE potential dangers associated with Mega Evolution that are touched upon even in the Generation they were introduced in, it was always framed in a way that suggested that any complications with Mega Evos tended to be the result of inexperience or other external factors. Not to mention that some Gen 7 Dex entries absolutely frame certain Mega Evo entries in such a way that it reinforces the cultural bias instead of challenging it. Like they carried out experiments to gather data on Mega Evolutions, but in such a way that the results were guaranteed to favor their already skewed viewpoints that favored the use of Z-Moves instead. Like a "We, the Obviously Biased Group of People, have done an internal investigation on whether or not we are in the wrong about this thing and have concluded that, on totally fair grounds, we are absolutely right and correct about this thing all the time forever." sort of thing.

Oh I really like this take, especially considering that we have a shady scientific organisation in Alola that could have absolutely fed into these "findings" through questionable studies (*cough cough* Aether Foundation *cough cough*)

Other hcs that i made up while editing:

- has a small hobby in drawing/painting w watercolours as a passtime

- likes rock music + all subgenres of rock. also a bit of metal (piers fan maybe,,,)

- got his porygon Z from pure coincidence while sneaking around the Aether foundation. it kind of just,,, latched onto him and didn’t leave.

- cracks his knuckles often (moreso out of habit than anything else)

- absolutely loves murder mysteries and won’t admit he likes dramas too

- genuinely talkative when he wants to be + if he’s comfortable. He prefers listening to people speak. super blunt most of the time but tries not to seem mean in front of younger kids

^ sucks with words/hardly talkative otherwise so he shows appreciation via acts of service, etc

- i’m a personal “Gladion leaves Alola to become a trainer” believer than a “Aether foundation leader Gladion” believer. get my boy OUTTA THERE

- has a noticeable/large birthmark surrounding his left eye. probably the reason he grew his hair out like that (maybe Lusamine has a similar birthmark …… and he hates the similarity…… )

- less of a hc and actually more canon if anything; surprisingly good w kids. have u seen him with kiawe’s younger sister AGH

- slightly uneasy around ghost pkmn for no other reason than the fact they find him easy to scare

- basically nocturnal

- team skull grunts find him kind of scary/intimidating lmfao

- easiest way to make friends w him is via pokemon battles

Riz Gukgak with the pokemon team he'll never have in canon, sigh.

Decidueye - A cool and serious pokemon for one, but also one of the few pokemon that actually shoots, just like Riz. Kecleon - One, i love this pokemon. Two, it can turn invisible which is a perfect addition to a rogue's team. Klefki - Another pokemon fit for a rogue's team. Help with unlocking doors and chests and such. Octillery - Another pokemon that can shoot! Plus it's unevolved form is supposedly based on a gun. Sableye - Tell me that this little goblin wouldn't be an asset to everybody's favorite actual goblin. He's a good rogue pokemon. Very much 'hiding in the shadows' kinda guy. Voltorb - I mean, c'mon. Do I even have to say it? A ball for The Ball.
