thinking about guard dog characters and attack dog characters. the different ways to protect your people. characters who take the defensive versus the ones who never let it get to that. ones who, when someone bares their teeth, will bare their teeth in return, and ones who need only see the glint of teeth before tearing them limb from limb. it's the difference between "i would die for you" and "i would kill for you." characters who are ready to compromise their life or their morals, who have already made that sacrifice in their mind, who have fangs and claws and are always ready to use them, because ultimately these characters are fundamentally the same: they will protect you, and they will do anything.

Page two: Deli looks to Colin and says, "What does that mean?" It cuts to a grayed out flashback, of Karna telling Deli, "Kill it." Deli stoically lifts his spear to stab the fungi creature as a disturbed Colon asks, "What are you doing?" In the present, Colin - spattered with the remains of Queen Pamelia - answers Deli, "I think you know what it means."

Man. If I had a nickel for every time Zac Oyama and Lou Wilson had to rp a breakup-coded fight between their “platonic besties” characters because Zac’s character was experiencing a hard personal internal struggle and decided to leave a group/cause that he wasn’t actually invested in and mostly just joined because Lou’s character was passionate about it and Lou’s character was canonically very charismatic and good at garnering followers/admirers but Zac’s character was one of his only true friends that he fully trusted and was loyal to and Lou’s character was really hurt when Zac’s character left, less by the actual action of leaving and more by the implication that he didn’t care about Lou’s character enough to stay I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s fucking RUDE that it’s happened twice.

episode 5 of the ravening war is actually so funny because karna is looking at deli with heart eyes, deli is looking at colin with heart eyes, and colin is looking at raphaniel with exasperation as the weird little radish priest tries to fuck a wet biscuit and crawls up the walls like he’s in the exorcist. love wins.

man. sorry to talk about colin fucking provolone again. but the fact that he is the only truly decent member of this party. he’s descended from a rebel leader who tried to stand up to a tyrant and was brutally killed. he saw his friend, a man he trusted and cared about, turning into a similar tyrant, and he left, damn the consequences. he got caught up in something he didn’t understand, murdered an innocent, was plagued by guilt, and returned to make whatever amends he could. the only thing he has ever wanted to do is keep people safe.
