A2 & 2B dating a human

pairing: 2B x gn!reader x A2

tags: wholesome fluff, established relationship, physical affection (cuddling), human!reader, spoilerfree

A2 and 2B both are happy to date a human, yet their opinions on humans and androids do differ

A2 views you as more pure, as you aren't an android created to kill and destroy, nor as a machine that fulfills the same functions

meanwhile, 2B sees you as weak and fragile due to being a human, as you only have one life, which needs to be protected!

both women are reserved and rarely show their feelings, yet 2B has an easier time showing a softer side to you

A2's walls are much higher and take a lot longer to slowly tear down, until she'll show her soft side to you

despite how distant A2 and 2B can be, the two of them do long for a meaningful connection and to be near you and able to touch and hold you as often as they can

A2 is like a cat when it comes to physical affection: if she wants it, she'll come to you, but forcing it won't work on her!

she'll quietly come over and not say a single word, as she wraps her arms around you and enjoys your warmth for a few minutes, before disappearing as quickly as she showed up

2B on the other hand will always ask to be held and can cuddle with you for hours, often even falling asleep while doing so (which she believes to be a missfunction of her android body)

neither A2 nor 2B are jealous of each other, as neither of them needs your attention at all times and both do appreciate their alone time as well, while you're with the other one

A2 isn't always around you, as she tends to wander off and do her own thing. yet she always returns to you, no matter where she's at

2B is a bit more clingy, wanting to be near you at all times to protect you and she enjoys being around you more than she does enjoy being alone

“you failed to protect them. again!”

you were woken by familiar voices outside of your room arguing. the one yelling at the other two was A2, who you knew all too well. she had been protecting you and taking care of you for months, before that task fell to the two she was arguing with right now; 2B and 9S.

“we did everything in our power!” 2B stated calmly, which only seemed to anger A2 even more.

“they're the last human alive! adam and eve won't stop at anything to get their hands on them–!” A2 yelled back angrily. “you're supposed to protect them! i thought you yorha androids were so good at that…”

“A2, that's not fair…” 9S sighed, but A2 already wasn't listening anymore. “A2, wait–!”

before he could say anything else, the door to your room slowly opened and A2 entered quietly. she had just been yelling at the other two androids, but as soon as she was with you, her demeanor softened and she weakly smiled at you, when your gazes met.

“you're awake…” she points out, as she steps over to your bed, sitting down at the edge of it. “sorry, i hope i didn't wake you up. i just… wanted to check in on you…”

A2 had this soft side that was reserved for only you. after all your time spent together, she grew protective of you and cared about you, probably more than she ever cared about anyone else. you were special to her and not just because you were a human…

“i couldn't sleep anyways…” you lie, not wanting A2 to feel bad about waking you up. “i didn't think you'd come…”

“are you serious?” A2 sounded almost offended. “after i heard that adam and eve got their hands on you, even if it was just for a short while, i had to see if you're alright!”

A2 paused, quietly looking at you, laying in your bed, as she brought a hand to your cheek and caressed it.

“are you alright…?” she asked carefully.

“i feel much better now that you're here.” you smiled in response, cleverly avoiding her question.

if you couldn't even lie and say you were fine, then you really must be shaken by what happened. A2 frowned for a moment, cursing herself for not being there to protect you. but then she forced a smile on her lips, trying to mimic your brave face.

“i won't leave you again, i promise.” she said, as she gently caressed your cheek. “you'll be safe with me. so… just close your eyes and relax. you don't need to worry about a thing anymore…”

you smiled softly and clearly, A2's words seemed to calm you down. you yawned silently, before closing your eyes. but just as A2 meant to get up and sit down on the chair across your bed, you grabbed her hand.

“stay.” you pleaded.

“i'll stay, i promised. just over there–”

“no, stay right here.” you clarified and gently tugged on A2's hand, pulling her onto the bed with you. “i feel safe when i can feel you next to me…”

if A2 had the function to blush, she'd do so at that very moment. but she could feel her engines heat up, a warm and fuzzy feeling spreading in her stomach, as she slowly laid down next to you.

“a-alright… i'll stay right next to you, i promise.”
