Made another edit with my red-headed Odette idea because I’ve had the mental image of her in Pocahontas’s ballgown from Pocahontas II for the longest time. Tried to make it look like she’s having important political discussions lol

I Choose ones that are actually sequels, not prequels or inbetweeners (sorry lion king 1/2 and Bambi 2). Also had to be direct to video, not theater release (I'm very sad I couldnt include Return to Neverland but it had a theatrical release).
Theres still others that fit this bill, but I selected ones that I've actually seen/own or ones I thought were "bigger"/better known

Animated 1: Cinderella III: A Twist in Time v Pocahontas 2: Journey to a New World
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cinderella III {original-Cinderella (1950)}
Cinderella gets a more active role, The Prince gets a personality, and Anastasia gets a character arc! Plus the Prince is hilarious.
Such void character development and helps provide some explanation for the plot holes in the original.
Dude, it's so good at developing the characters. Prince Charming has some funny moments (him jumping out the window is iconic), Cinderella is shown to be clever (she sneaks into the castle, and Anastasia get some sweet moments. While the original is a classic, this sequel has something that it doesn't.
Pocahontas 2 {original-Pocahontas (1998)}

I left out Hercules: Zero to Hero and Tarzan & Jane due to the poll limit and those two videos just being compilations of pre-existing shows.

202nd edit of mine and inspired by @thenamelessdoll this edit here and I am actually really glad how the coloring change worked out. Belle being paler was tricky, until I layer one image of the screenshot overall the lighter, but one layer kept her outfit + hair same tint. John actually looks way more alive with darker hair like Belle. XD I am so glad too I found that screenshot or scene of Charming (or Christopher @airasora ;D) looking shocked and if edited a bit, his hand looks out reached. “No John, come back, I want you, not her”.

(originally published on 10/19/20)
DTVA/DTS TAGTEAM TWEET-ATHON MOVIE #20: POCAHONTAS II: JOURNEY TO A NEW WORLD (1998)
The original movie was already on thin ice with me, but Disney just said “Screw it, how much more insulting can we get?”
First off, I won’t even get into the problems with historical accuracy. The first movie didn’t bother, but this movie tries to follow the real story more closely while also being a sequel to the fiction to the first, and it just makes everyone uncomfortable.
*sigh* At least the original had a really good sense of style. Every shot in that movie looked like a beautiful painting. Here, every background looks like they came out of a later era Looney Tunes short.
I do not care for John Rolfe. He’s pretty much John Smith again, even though John Smith is already in this movie. The only reason John Rolfe is here is to marry Pocahontas because the real John Rolfe “married” the real Pocahontas.
It would’ve made no difference to the plot if it was John Smith was the one who took Pocahontas to London, and it would’ve made more sense with regards to this fictionalized version of history in the first film.
They also try to make John Smith more of a dick so that Rolfe looks better, and that’s some backwards character development I won’t stand for (JK I don’t actually care at all).
(Also, I found that the two Johns had better chemistry in their few scenes together than either of them had with Pocahontas herself. It makes sense though, cause they’re pretty much the same person.)
The animal companions are also here, and they serve no purpose other than to be toyetic. There’s also another Native American who joins Pocahontas on the journey. He really serves no purpose other than to be a bad stereotype, be stoic, and be really tall.
The songs are bad. They just suck. It’s like the filmmakers looked at every saving grace of the first movie and just said “What if we don’t”? Not even Ratcliffe’s song is good, though it’s not like he did much in this film already.
There’s a low-budget version of “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast, and a song about whitewashing Pocahontas and teaching her “etiquette”. Oh goody, just what every kid wants to see!
I think there was like, one small joke I chuckled at? But other than that, this film did two things that no movie should: it bored me and it made me feel uncomfortable. Just no.
1/10: You know it’s bad when I begin pining for the OG film. I didn’t even really like that one!

He looks a bit familiar...

Bido, is that you??

He even goes to work for Ratcliffe, a very greedy man.

I couldn't put them in the tourney since they're not from anime, but I've been falling back into one of my earliest hyperfixations lately, so... here's an appreciation post for Disney Princess horses.
Tumblr media
Row 1, Left to Right: Astor (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Major (also called 'Frou' in some books) (Cinderella), Prince Charming's Horse (Cinderella III: A Twist in Time), Cinderella's Riding Horse (Cinderella III: A Twist in Time), Samson (Sleeping Beauty), Buttercup (Sleeping Beauty: Buttercup the Brave)
Row 2, Left to Right: Beau (The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Baby Beau), Philippe (Beauty and the Beast), Philippe's Friend (Beauty and the Beast: A Friend for Philippe), Sahara (Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams), Midnight (Aladdin: The Desert Race), Rolfe's Horse (Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World)
Row 3, Left to Right: Khan (Mulan), Shang's Horse (Mulan), Maximus (Tangled), Fidella (Tangled: The Series), Angus (Brave), Elinor's Horse (Brave)

Let's jazz things up a little....
BRING OUT YOUR SALT LET'S GOOOOOOOO 🧂👀👀👀
(Yes, I included some popular/beloved sequels here, not because I dislike them - hell, I downright love a couple! - but because these are literally ALL of the "Disney Princess" sequels that came out in the 90s and early 2000s. Don't @ me, just have fun voting lol)
Disclaimer: With these sequel polls, I will NOT include ones from the Walt Disney Animation Studios, which are as of June 1, 2023: The Rescuers Down Under, Fantasia 2000, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Frozen 2.
Have fun voting and try not to start any fights over your personal faves! 😘

Who were those three creepy jesters who helped aide Ratcliffe in framing Pocahontas as a savage before King James in Pocahontas 2 Journey to the New World? You know, the jesters who sang "Things are not what they appear"?
So I’ve been thinking about this, I know I want to set Ratcliffe up to be a bigger threat for whatever role he’d play in the 12 Dancing Princesses crossover I want to do, because I want each of the 12 princesses to have to face off against an old villain in one way or another, so he’d need to level up a bit.

And since 1. We know magic does exist in Our World and 2. This is during the whole witchcraft trial things in English History, and these dudes do seem to have some impressive (and sinisterly green) magic tricks I think for the DisneyVerse I would make these guys demons.
Like, not arch-demons, but regular witch’s familiar type ones. I don’t think that in Pocahontas 2 Ratcliffe realizes that they’re unearthly yet, he just thinks they’re involved in underhanded stuff. But they’re cultivating a relationship with him because they can tell he’s got the potential to make a Deal when the chips get low enough.
And with him heading to the Tower of London or worse at the end of Pocahontas 2, that day had definitely come….
