Some smartphone cameras have 50 megapixels, but the photos are quite bad. And the price tags of those smartphones are around 220-300 dollars, so it's to good to be true offcourse.

My DSLR photocamera only has 24 megapixels but the photos are around 2 to 5 times better.

So what's important next to megapixels when it comes to photo quality.

Tip: check the megapixels after cropping, if the megapixels were lowered by half while you only did a minor cropping, then it's a good idea to find a better cropping program/application.

Cropping will lower the megapixels, but some applications lower the megapixels by half, automatically, also if only a very slight cropping was done. And then it's a good idea to get a better program/application.
