chicken update // january 12th

doesn't LOOK like a lot has happened, but it has!

since this was previously a garden bed table, i had to do a ton of prep work before painting. i scrubbed, bleached, sun bathed, then sanded the chicken nursery before bringing it in for painting. this was all done before the winter lows came in - too cold to leave outside for painting.

i was putting off scrubbing for over a week because i knew it would kill me, with my AS acting up before the cold front. took me over a week to mention that to hubs, who reminded me he bought me a scrubby tool a long time ago for that very reason. meant more for cleaning inside, but still applies here. i did all the cleaning the next day, no major issues at all with my AS flair up.

it felt great, too. been buying tools here and there as they go on sale at the bug orange box store. hubs works there, he texts me when a tool gets discontinued or clearance, i ask the bank account yay or nay, and i trust hubs to know if that tool is useful or not. never ask questions on what it is. but for prepping the chicken nursery for painting - after being sad and confiding in him that i couldn't physically do it, he asked what the steps were and then proceeded to show me all the tools he's been slowly buying these past 4 years at his job and how they all make what i want to do easier. and he said they're all for me this whole time.

so lesson learned on my end. stop hiding the sads, hubs already has me covered 💚

also - wear a mask when dealing with mold. ok carrying on.

no garage, no shed with lights, so into the kitchen the chicken nursery currently resides. cats are all loving it, using it as a jungle gym.

not visually a lot different between these two photos, but once i brought this inside i did a coat of Kilz mold & mildew just in case, after all that prep work, something still is hanging around in between the cracks. i even did 2 coats of kilz in some places. probably overkill, but that just left 1 coat of the enamel paint to do. leftover white paint i bought for the outdoor house trim. tomorrow is painting the bottom with the last coat of paint. then it all starts to really come together.

as far as the chickens are concerned... i had a talk with a local breeder who has rare varieties - sometimes for sale, otherwise for ag shoes across the region. *sigh* idk why i thought chicken breeders would be different than any other type of animal breeder, but alas. only willing to sell "retired show birds" or ones that are teenagers and have no qualities to win awards. which my chickens won't be for that, but i don't want to support that kind of thinking. these chickens will be a part of the family, not "judt an animal".

after this discussion with the breeder, i decided i am 100% buying from the local hardware store. their chicken schedule is supposed to be released at the end of the month. hubs and i talked more about the plan for the chicken run and coop (that work will be started in 2 weeks) and we decided on getting a rooster, too. anything to help aid in scaring predators away. so 5 chickens, 1 roost. unless some absolutely amazing breed is bring sold at the hardware store, all olive eggers too. will finalize the breed once that schedule is out.

I was really sick last night so I'm taking it easy a little bit today before I try to get any work done, so I spent a few hours putting together Mal's farmhouse in the sims 4 :3

Lots of pics ahead so it's going under a read more! Also please excuse the quality, I have to play with low graphics because my computer is a potato that's like, 7 or 8 years old at this point. There's also a lot of rambling about stuff with my character and my fic in here if that's of interest to anyone too :3

Okay... Well first of all, Them!!

Mal looking like a little trucker in that cap and vest combo lmao but it's so cute :3 I think it suits his weird 20-something year old grandpa aesthetic!! I use mostly vanilla cosmetics so Mal's hair is a bit longer than it should be and Alex's hair is a bit shorter than how I draw it but I tried to keep them mostly accurate! I think Mal looks better in terms of design just because I've made him in the sims before and had years to tweak him to how he looks here lol

Now the farmhouse...! I tried to get the layout of the house looking like I imagine it, so it'll give you a good idea of how it's supposed to be laid out in my fic :3 how I describe it to be anyway! The outside is not at all accurate besides the placement of the crops and chicken coop. Beside the house should be a river (it's the meadowlands farm in stardew and I moved the cabin to be right beside the river where the chicken coop is initially when you start!) and further down past the chicken coop and crops should be a whooole bunch of fruit trees. I envision the farm as like, having an orchard of different fruit trees as the main crop for the farm's actual income, while the chickens and other crops are more for like, self-sustaining the family. Idk if that comes across in what I'm writing but I'm kind of trying to have Mal stumble his way through learning to farm rather than having an inherent idea of what to do or detailed written instructions left by grandpa lol

The kitchen and living area are one big space :3 idk why the door to the basement turned invisible, just sims being sims I guess. But imagine a door there behind the dining table and not just an open gap in the wall lmao

The living room wall is a different color than how I've drawn it so mission failed on that one lol but it's fine! It should be a record player instead of a jukebox and there should be a landline phone on an end table near the door, but sims 4 only has so much stuff in the vanilla. RIP to my landline phones from previous sims games, I think I miss that the most 😩 nothing quite makes me as nostalgic for childhood as a landline phone in the home. Anyway!

Beside the kitchen is a hallway which leads to the bathroom and to Mal's childhood bedroom which he no longer uses. The hallway is kinda cramped but I like that, it gives a vibe of those kind of houses that have little space and try to use it all to the fullest :3 I didn't notice the bathroom floor was wet before taking the bathroom pics, you can thank Alex for that. He had just jogged and showered and I guess left a puddle 😂 messy boy!!

And Mal's childhood room is very small but just has some cutesy stuff in it. The little bed and little wooden chest are some things that kinda come up in a few chapters I wrote so I was like 👀 those are essential

The master bedroom, which was Mal's grandparents' room but he's since moved into it. I think I also describe it as having a dresser in addition to the closet so that's missing... And there should be family photos but I don't think I have anything like that with my currently installed packs. The guitar was grandpa's, but I don't think Mal knows how to play? I had some idea a few months back about Sam teaching him guitar but I'm not sure now. Feels a little too intimate for the dynamic he and Sam have/will have! Besides that, Mal's love of music has manifested in dancing and singing so I think that's a fair trade :3 but he keeps the guitar anyway for sentimental reasons! And the green bedding, as made by Emily... but you know in my head I imagine her making a huge quilt for him, so pretend like there's a big quilt on the bed too lol

Last is the basement which looks nothing like it should lol. I forgot to reinstall the laundry pack so I'm missing that... but I imagine it as having the water heater, washing machine, some wine racks, and a woodworking table. Maaaybe casks or kegs like you can have in stardew? I need to think on it :3 But it would be this shape of room at least, just a small square room under the kitchen.

And then... I played a little and I kept getting stuff that felt so true to them lol

And of course, it wouldn't be the sims without it doing some weird buggy shit (especially sims 4 lately... these QOL patches have added some weird quirks to how townies autonomously interact with your sims lol)

Wherein grandpa died and then immediately called, as a ghost, to ask if Mal wanted his company for sympathy... Hrmmm....... 🤔 Maybe it knew that grandpa's ghost shows up from time to time in stardew valley too lol

ignore my last post, i've litteraly just got the posting jitters is all. i litterally have no evidence of people disliking my stuff based off of poor photo quality or the fact they are not digital. getting in my own head cuz im surrounded by so many talented people and i just hope to become one of them someday (if not to just atleast one person). anyways i looked at my tags and i have a criminally low posts number on said fandom i say im so fondly obsessed with so thats gotta change, i have more then plenty images of my doodles to share and i don't see why i should hold my self back since i am posting for me and not others. probably got overwelled and nervious because atleast 3 of my posts for that tag are like progress posts/ones i later posted finished versions of.

is this why people hate sharing their sketches even though they are great to see and just look at? is it because it feels like posting the same thing over and over again without adding much and it feels kinda enbarassing? i gotta stop myself from feeling this way, ugly feeling, i should be proud of every step of the process i make even if it feels repetitive and like im being annoying by posting so much. people follow to many other people to care, its not like im gonna clog their feeds and if i do thats on them for not following others as well? idk, not my fault

feels good to do this again, hopefully i will #keepup with it. the two large heads/faces, i was looking at the cover of dogra magra that i keep by my desk and trying to capture the face she's making, though at the start i just drew eyes like that, and then realized they're not unlike hers, on that cover, so i drew the mouth to be like that.

very tired right now, not much more to say, i got some new plugins today, one i really like, this spectral compression thing. it'll be weirdly useful for guitar sounds i think because it can extract some weird artifacts out of serum/other synths and if i make really brief attack-y sounds that can help get pick attack down better i think.

here's something i ate today:

idk why i was so compelled to take a photo... but it was good, i really like the sunomono + carrots on the salad a lot, it's rather refreshing, i'm excited to prepare this in the summer, it'll be very nice then. i also did cook an egg and put it in there. good meal... i will probably eat this every day now.

here's 2 songs i made today, also, i have no idea what i'll do with them, beyond the guitar tests i tried the compressor on a couple other things. this first one it was on the drums and i really like this drum sound a lot, it's super perfect. the second one, it's all over the synths. i might mix/master these and then put them on some kind of burner soundcloud or something. again, i have no idea. not sure why i am thinking i need to do anything at all. anyhow, in the second one, i'm really fond of the texture it extracts from some automation on a sine wave, and the sine itself too. i imagine there's better ways to do it, than the way i set that compression up, i probably didn't need to fiddle so much i think other people do similar things by having the same thing running a couple times is all. listening to the first one again, i want to make the chiptune-y bass hit a little harder, so if i go back into these songs, i might distort it and do some other stuff to it. maybe just regular compression? idk... and the last thing about either, but in the second, there's this really subtle thing that happened w/ the compression, or a couple really weird things, one is that there was this low rumbling sound that appeared when some additional layers get introduced, but it's not loud at all, it feels really percussive and asmr-y somehow, i'm really fond of it, it's such an odd and totally accidental thing. the second is that there's the particular high end it creates, that really soft airy quality in the thing, it feels super reminiscent of glitch music, that aspect. it felt crazy to get that sort of sound because i've always wanted to, but it's difficult to get such a crisp/pristine sounding high end.

actually not the last thing i'll say about either, the first here is a really funny amalgam of things, kept thinking about lfo's freak while making it, which probably has a lot to do with all the drums i program, honestly. when i started it i didn't think it'd go as far as it did but the drum sound was so good it made me start doing electro drum patterns instead of that plodding beat at the start, and then when it got faster i was like, i need a big ugly square wave bass, like in freak. idk. that song is fucked up how good it is, and how i always go back to it when i'm making stuff.

oh yeah, and then the dolls i found on flickr. they aren't anything crazy but this account is really cute/cool. it's just mostly this woman's dolls, but then some photos from her life, there's one that's like her at comic-con w/ her family, it's very sweet basically.

Have you ever done journaling? I used to journal quite a bit when I was younger and still have many of my old diaries. As I got older, I got into journaling digitally on sites like Myspace, Xanga, Tumblr, Instagram, etc, but the bulk of those accounts have been lost to time (or website deactivations). What’s the key to happiness? Gaslighting yourself into believing everything is fvcking great. ;D No, but seriously, I don't think there is one single key to happiness. I think it's more of a holistic approach involving gratitude, a sense of passion, a sense of love and belonging, taking care of yourself as best as you can, extending and receiving kindness, etc. I also don't think it's about always being happy, but about forming a strong foundation that isn't broken when you go through difficult or heartbreaking times.

What fictional killer scares you the most? None of them. Even real killers don't frighten me very much.

Yesterday, Riley said that she considers me a friend! :') I was so surprised that I didn't respond in kind (and I'm kicking myself for that brain-lapse lmao), but I had started to think of her as a potential friend as well. She's just such an affable, kind, thoughtful, and understanding individual with a wonderful sense of humor. She's almost always in an upbeat mood even when she's tired, overwhelmed, or in pain; you can tell when she's starting to struggle, but she doesn't take it out on anyone. She rarely ever speaks ill of anyone without a valid reason, and even when it comes to smaller offenses, if she is critical, then it's often in a way that comes across as very fair and empathetic. Strong sense of justice, huge animal lover, etc. Many of those qualities are true for my best friend Ollie as well. They're just sandwiched between seven layers of sarcasm.

Ik you said you dont care about concert tickets but I need to say that it wasn’t larries that were complaining about free tickets being given away last night or the night before, it was hardcore harries being mad that they weren’t in LA so they couldn’t get them or they paid insane amount of money for theirs, so it is unfair to insinuate some larries who are wishing failure upon hshq were making things up or seeing things that weren’t there.

Yeah that photo was taken minutes before the show but forum being full obviously don’t tell the whole story behind it. There is this kinda big twitter account helping fans with concert tickets, even they said that what is happening with LA residency -low priced, unsold and free tickets- hasn’t happened with any other of his residencies so far even when ticketmaster released unsold tickets right before the concert or sold them outside of the arenas. Calling all his forum dates sold-out is a marketing line underlining the high demand he has had, but it was literally not the case with night 1 and 2. Ofc hshq won’t wanna disturb that illusion of H being so demanded that you get to be a part of an exclusive club if you attend his shows (why do ppl think harries are looking down on Louis’ prices bc they think it is not something elite and show the quality of his crowds or smth lol) bc that is the most alluring part of being a het H fan, so they gave out free tickets and lowered the prices. Btw there were still unsold tickets on websites when he was on stage, so 🙇🏻‍♀️

Thanks again for the pictures! Yeah, it's a shame to have such beautiful clothing and then take pictures of such quality that you can count the pixels xD. Idk why, I feel some traditional clothing is underrepresented big time, and that's sad. Like the whole region of Hmathia except maaaaybe Naoussa or so, even though the whole region seems to have extremely beautiful clothing.

I have a theory about the low quality thing and the underrepresentation - I believe the interest in historical fashion in Greece had been considered backwards / right-wing / provincial for the longest time and thus most photos were usually taken by middle aged- old people that were not experts at photography, technology, contemporary artistry. Most are novice parents photographing their children, not professional photographers. It is no coincidence that the best photos of Greek historical fashion are being taken the last couple of years - during which artists try to recandle the interest for folk art and see it through a modern perspective, motivated as they were by the 200 year Independence anniversary. In any case, that modern interest in the artistic presentation of folk clothes is very new in Greece whereas in other countries in the Balkans and everywhere east of us they present their traditional fashion with professional photography, beautiful settings and concepts etc���

I've kind of poked around there but I don't think I've ever actually bought anything - do you have links to those ones you bought or any tips for finding them on the site? OKAY SO the cool thing about knockoff Lego figures is that a) there are a ton of them, so you can probably find multiple versions of most characters, and b) they're super cheap, so if you do end up getting ripped off, you're probably only out a few bucks. plus if you don't get ripped off, you feel like a genius, because authentic Lego minifigs tend to cost way more than they should (and if you get them online, you probably don't have a good way to know that they're authentic) and here you are getting something just as good or better for way less.

the site I was getting pictures from is HeroBloks, which I only just discovered myself a couple days ago; it looks like mostly it's good for tracking your collection (and learning more about bootleg Lego minifigs in general, maybe--I didn't really realize until now how many different companies there are making Lego-like minifigs) rather than buying, with individual pages including sale links that are only mildly useful. like, the extremely sad TVA Loki has an AliExpress search link that apparently just searches for "blocks," which is the least helpful search term imaginable; the eBay link uses "xinh+xh1745+loki (tva)" as the search term and that's definitely better, although it doesn't actually turn up anything. maybe that one's too new to be widely available yet, I don't know. (I hope that's the case. I need him and his sad little face to come and live with me.)

anyway--eBay is a possible source. searching for "loki minifigure" gets me results for several of the new ones I’ve been seeing, and they all seem to be shipping from Japan or South Korea. the problem is they're all selling for $4.99 plus $7.49 shipping each, which is...more than I want to spend on something I know is a knockoff of some kind when I don't know anything about the quality control and I'm not guaranteed to get what's in the picture. (here's another listing asking $40 total for all 8 figures I bought yesterday, which is actually a better price, and I'd probably end up doing that if I hadn't found them elsewhere, but that's because I have a problem.)

this is why I like AliExpress, because the risks are slightly higher but the prices tend to be much lower, even with shipping prices having gone up a bit over the last couple years. as I understand it, the site is basically just a huge marketplace for tons of different sellers in Asia, like if eBay only allowed fixed-price listings and it was based in China. the vast majority of the site reads like it went through Google Translate, because it probably did. you can find...basically anything there. I have no idea if any of it's authentic. (I also don't know anything about how or where any of the knockoff stuff is made, so...there is that.) I would not, for instance, drop $300 on a Hot Toys Loki from here, even though I absolutely would have the option to do so, for the obvious reason that I'm not going to risk that much money on an item that might be a cheap knockoff or could arrive broken. there is, in general, a solid possibility of breakable things arriving broken, because decent packaging costs more. cheap shipping will be slow (by which I mean like...up to 90 days), and most purchases either won't have tracking at all or won't have accurate tracking, so this is absolutely not a place to buy anything you want to get quickly. you also don't want to just buy something and forget about it, because there are (variable but generous) time limits past which you can't get a refund if you don't receive your items. the site's UI is...mostly functional. you often have to get a little creative with your search terms to find what you want (and sometimes you won’t find what you want through searching, but through looking at related items on the pages of things that aren’t quite what you want or are what you want but aren’t a good price). you will, absolutely, come across a lot of stolen art on things like pins, t-shirts, stickers, and phone cases, which you might not realize until you see something you recognize from a fanartist you like, and obviously that sucks. listing photos are nearly always stock photos, so in many cases they won't tell you anything about the item you're actually getting. you know the Wish app, and all the crazy things people get from that? you can find all the same stuff on AliExpress, at similar levels of quality.

however, if you approach it keeping all that in mind, it can be a great resource. I can't make any guarantees about the site's safety, but to the best of my knowledge it's secure and I've never had any weird charges show up after buying something. it's also my understanding that Alibaba, the parent company, is more or less the Chinese equivalent of Amazon in terms of the amount of business it does, which would probably be pretty tough if customer data were routinely being exposed to thieves, you know? I've also successfully gotten several refunds for items that never arrived, which actually hasn't happened all that often--but knowing that it can happen and that the return period expires, I’ll check back on the site if it seems like it’s been an unusually long time and I’ll make a reminder for myself of the deadline so I can contact the seller in time if necessary.

so the way I shop there is, I don't buy expensive or fragile things in general, because I recognize there's a nonzero chance I'll get a cheap knockoff, or something that was broken in transit because the seller tossed it in a box with no padding and called it good, or sometimes nothing at all. but like eBay, the sellers and items have ratings and reviews from customers, so that helps avoid some risk. items with lots of reviews tend to include at least a few customer photos, which are great for getting a better idea of what the thing you're buying actually looks like. I took a bit of a risk last year buying a Hot Toys (or the equivalent, I actually have no idea) Steve Rogers head for about $20, for instance, but I wasn't super worried about it because the customer photos looked good, the seller I used had a lot of sales and a lot of good ratings, and it was still a lot less than I would've paid for an authentic Hot Toys Steve Rogers head--and in fact he got here just fine and he looked fantastic. I also spent about $20 for a knockoff Iron Studios Loki statue, because in that case it was like...yep I’d love the real thing, nope I’m not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on it, yep I am willing to spend $20 on something that doesn’t look quite as nice but still looks good enough for me in the customer photos. well, and I’ve also bought knockoffs I knew would look bad, because they were cheap and I want all the Lokis and I have enough of an addiction that all the Lokis does in fact sometimes mean “even ones that look really bad” to me.

anyway, uh, Lego-type minifigs. this is an especially good area to go knockoff, because--okay, apparently I can’t link to a page of HeroBloks search results for some reason, but it’s the best resource I’ve found for this type of thing that isn’t just authentic Lego figures. but if you go there and do a search for “loki” you’ll get a bunch of results and you’ll see that they come from like...9 or 10 different brands. Lego specifically has only four Loki options: Avengers Loki in black, Avengers Loki in gray for some reason (which, frankly, looks like a cheap knockoff but isn’t), movie-inaccurate Ragnarok Loki with the blue outfit and the full helmet, an ugly Classic Loki, and a mostly green Loki from I guess the first Thor movie (and then I think they’re going to release a TVA Loki, a Sylvie, and a Throg). all those other results--all those different outfits from every single Loki appearance, and different variations on those outfits, nearly all of them more screen-accurate and/or detailed than the Lego versions--are technically knockoffs. they’re better and you can buy them for way less. (I mean, a lot of them are new so I don’t have them yet, but I do have frost giant Loki, better Ragnarok Loki, better Avengers Loki, opera Loki who actually has another face that’s half-Jotun, and at least one chrome-helmet option, and they all look basically like the photos. so I think I can reasonably expect most of the new ones to look basically like their photos too.) 

for reasons that I don’t understand aside from a vague guess that it’s copyright-related, AliExpress pretty much no longer shows full pictures of Lego-type figures in their listings--instead, you have to pick just based on the heads. this is a problem when lots of heads look very similar to each other! luckily, the listings also typically have the actual serial numbers for each figure, as do the HeroBloks listings, so you can cross-reference them to see what you’re really getting. for instance let’s take this listing because it’s cheap and it offers most of the Loki figures that are currently available. say you’re interested in one of the horn-less Lokis. there are...let’s see, five of them, but you have no idea what they actually look like aside from slightly different facial expressions and maybe weapons. however, the first one listed says XH1359 for its color...and what do you know, 1359 is the serial number for this Loki by a company called Xinh. okay cool, how about the last one? the “color” is listed as WM2182--and yes, HeroBloks has a listing for a Ragnarok Loki from World Minifigures with the serial number 2182. (I just ordered all 8 of the new World Minifigures ones yesterday, so again, I can’t personally guarantee yet that they’ll look as good in person as in the pictures--but I think they probably will, and more importantly they cost a whole dollar each.) and if HeroBloks doesn’t have a particular figure, you can probably find something useful just by googling the serial number.

I specifically bought from this listing yesterday because they currently have a bit of a sale going and a deal for free shipping if you buy 10 figures, and I wanted a couple duplicates, so it worked out to be the cheapest option. the same store has another listing for a bunch more Marvel characters, including a couple more Lokis I already had, so it should be pretty easy to get the free shipping so the figures are less than a dollar each and you’re only risking about $10. if you’d rather try one or two and see how it goes, it looks like this listing is probably the cheapest, with figures currently going for a little over a dollar each once you add shipping (although it’s totally possible shipping is more for me because Alaska).

that’s...probably already way more information than you really wanted, but I hope at least some of it makes sense. feel free to ask other specific questions if they come up--I might not be able to give answers exactly, but I can probably tell you what my experience has been, which is better than nothing.

Ratatouille Voice: "Anyone Can Draw"

Okay idk I'm not a professional artist, I don't even consider myself "good", though I've made some pieces I'm proud of. [Shameless link if you wanna see how full of shit I am.] But I honestly truly believe that anyone can draw, and anyone can improve. Yeah, you might not be where you want to be, but if you really want to get better, let's harness that "feeling bad about my art" and turn it into drive "so I'm gonna do something about it"!

I've been drawing off an on for over a decade, but I've really improved in the last 3 years, and here's what I think happened:

I learned to 3D model fast. Which is to say, I learned to turn shapes over in my mind and figure out how slight changes in angle affected what I see. I can't conjure images in my head very easily or with much detail, so learning to layer details and give volume to an idea in my mind was a huge hurtle I never realized I had until I uhh had a senior project that required me to face and then get over it.

I started making deliberate decisions about what I wanted. (Ie, my art isn't a passive experience "i guess this is how things are", I started making choices of what I wanted it to be like.

I stopped mindlessly practicing - I started doing research and doing very deliberate practice and experimentation. I did research, I found videos, and I chose what I spent time on. I tried different combinations, I drew low-stakes sketches that no one had to see. I also stsrted doing warm ups!! It matters!!

And I know this doesn't sound like the "ideal" that art should be spontaneous and natural and I feel it too. But I don't have talent, so I have to work at it. And I am a PhD student in a non-art field, so I have limited time - so I have to work smart.

Part 1

So I know 3D modeling isn't really accessible, approachable, and all that (it's also not not accessibly, i just learned school of hard knocks so I literally cannot teach anyone how to do it); but I also don't think it's necessary. What you need to do is draw still life. Yes, its not the fan art you want to draw, but it will help! (And I do not suggest starting with your anime figures either, use simple kindergarten shapes.)

Learn to draw things you see in your room, go pick stock photos and recreate them. Trace parts only to learn how the lines come together, duplicate from sight!

I strongly advocate taking up charcoal if you can, it teaches you how to think not just about the thing you are drawing, but think about it in reference to its surroundings.

Part 2

This is the one where you gotta swallow your pride and ideals, and look at things practically. If you want to be in an art industry or just help yourself feel better about your hobby, your art should never be an "accident".

And what that means is that you chose to draw faces like that, you chose to use darker thicker lines, etc. "That's just how I draw x" as a response to art criticism is a really bad sign. But if you've already decided that you aren't happy with your art, then I think you're already... ready... to make a change - you've already had this "come to earth" uncomfortable epiphany that you probably have some room to grow. And honestly, I love and respect you even more for it!! Everyone can grow, and you have done the hard introspection to say that you want to!

So now we need to start looking at what other artists do that make you admire them? I love how sketchy the lines are in Tite Kubo's Bleach manga is, so I try to emulate it. I'm not stealing his art, I'm learning from it. I love how fluid Katsura Hoshino's D Gray Man is, so I embrace that and try to incorporate it in my scenes. But note: these are "qualities" of the art. I am framing these as "attainable characteristics" that come from the art I can look at. Its not "D Gray Man is pretty, why can't I do that" or "Bleach is so cool, I'm just not good enough".

No! Kill your doubt gremlin!! and start looking at the reasons you love and admire the artists you do. Go on insta, find someone to adore, pour your <3's on their pieces and learn from them by looking at how they use line and shape and tone and whatever.

Part 3

So I just kind'a put links where I though they would help, so now I'll list the various playlists that I keep my favorite videos in. The people who make them are good, not always gentle, but they have helped me out a lot.

Remember that things that work for one person may not work for another, but you have to try. If you don't have talent (which tbh is pretty common and is 300% not an insult, just just something I had to accept), you have to work for it. And that sucks, but that's life, and you have to decide if this is worth the effort.

o1. With which one of your friends do you spend the most time? With which friend do you spend the least amount of time? Would you like to change this in any way? I don’t really get to...spend time with my friends, in that sense. For very obvious reasons. But I talk to Angela and Reena the most. Andi and I talk a lot too, but not everyday. 

Among my friends, I probably talk to my college group the least these days, but that’s mostly because 2/3 of them are pursuing law school, and the 1/3 have jobs and are as busy as I am. We’re still as tight as ever and our group chat becomes active at least once a week.

o2. What four states in the USA would you most like to visit? Which four countries would you most like to visit? States: Illinois, Louisiana, New York, Utah. Countries: Malta, Switzerland, Thailand, South Korea.

o3. If you have one, how often do you watch your favorite television show? How long has this show been your favorite? I’m not a big TV person, tbh. The closest thing to my favorite would be Friends, which I rewatch at least one episode of once a month though I used to watch it FAR more often than that, hahaha. I think I first hooked to it...I wanna say 2018?Or 2019. Sometime in between those years. o4. Would it bother you if your boyfriend hugged other females (think hypothetically if you don’t have one)? Why or why not? No. He’s allowed to have girl friends. The only reason it bothered me when it was Gabie was because we were both aware that her guy friends were genuinely into her. o5. If you had snow-days as a kid, how did you spend them? Do you like the snow, in general? We don’t have snow, but our equivalent would be days off school because of a typhoon. Anyway, I just spent them lounging around and mostly watching stuff on YouTube. In college I was a bit more diligent and would use the extra time to catch up on readings.

o6. Do you know anyone who does hard drugs? Would you ever befriend someone that did? Not that I am aware of. I probably wouldn’t befriend someone who did if we weren’t already close, because there’s no telling what kind of influence they would be on me.

o7. When was the last time that you were afraid for your life? Did this incident change you in any way? When I was really sick back in May. Not really, I just wanted to recover as quickly as possible.

o8. Do you enjoy taking pictures? Is it just for fun, or do you make an attempt at actual photography? I didn’t then, but it’s something I’m trying to do more often now. I’ve realized I have very few souvenirs from the last few years because I barely took photos then, so it sucks not being able to revisit memories and ending up forgetting others completely. I definitely don’t plan to take it so far as taking photography lessons; taking pictures from my own perspective and in my own style suffices.

o9. Have you ever had low self-esteem? How is your self-esteem now? Yeah, sure. I had a recent phase of it because of the breakup, but I’ve recovered from it. My self-esteem is a lot healthier and more stable these days.

o1o. When you see someone sickly-thin, what is your first thought? Nothing for the most part, but I would obviously be concerned if that person was starting to show worrying signs of malnutrition. Idrk what you mean by sickly-thin.

o11. Do hospitals make you nervous? Why or why not? Do you have any bad hospital experiences? Not really, only because I’ve rarely had to go there.

I didn’t experience that with my past partner, and was often told to just stop being sensitive.

Seven o'clock light is always the brightest. The warm morning rays peak through the window blinds onto your eyes, slowly but surely waking you from your well rested slumber. Trying to fight that urge, you turn away and pull the blanket over your face. Closing your eyes, you try your best to catch some more z's and you do for a while until you smell something savory. Pulling the blanket from your face, you spring right up from the thought of breakfast from your boyfriend Jin.

"Jin..babe", you call out to him with a hoarse morning voice in hopes that he can hear you with out yelling. He did not. You roll off your bed and put on your cozy RJ slippers then begin to walk to the kitchen. The closer you get, the more you smell his perfectly cooked bacon. You are happy that your bf loves to cook for you. God knows you're not much of a morning bird.

"Morning Angel", he says with a smile to your groggy just-woke-up face, "pancakes or eggs?"

"Eggs pleeease" you say lazily as you walk behind him and wrap your arms around him.

He smiles shyly when he heard your low hum.

Min Yoongi

Unlike Jin, mornings were difficult for Yoongi. With long nights at the studio, this man truely treasures his slumber. I mean he treasures sleep 2nd. You are his greatest treasure. One of the best things to happen in his life. You're perfect for him too. You both live for music, you're more lively than him, so you show him a new perspective, you match in your down to earth nature, and you enjoy the simple things in life.

One of his favorite things in the world is waking up to you. No matter what negative feelings you have about yourself, he sees you for what you truely are. You are a beautiful human being. He sees you as his blessing. Even when he shushes you for sleep mumbling, that's one more thing to love about you. And when the sun rises and his eyes open, he gets to bask in your beauty.

He curls up to spoon you. Taking in the smell of your conditioner.

"Mhm. Are you up Yoong?" You're both groggy.

"...no...", he responds in an unsually throaty voice. You try to get but he holds you tight.

Jung Hoseok

Mornings with Hoseok is usually mellow. Although he is bubbly and outgoing for most of the day, he's not awake enough for the first few hours. Your mornings mostly consist of both of you lazing around together on the bed. While you check and respond to your emails, he checks for memos and respond to messages. Once business is over you both end up on social media eventually. You both enjoy each other's quality time. Even if no one is talking. From time to time you show each other something funny or interesting.

"Hobi, Hobi, look at this boy! He's a new meme."

He looks at your scene wondering why you're smiling so hard, "...why..?"

You laugh goofily at the seemingly normal photo, "idk but I love him."

Hoseok laughs with you but only cause he's tired and confused.

Namjoon is a heavy sleeper so you let him be and sleep. For a while, you lay on his chest to start off your day on a warm beat. Your head on his chest, rising and falling, matching you breath is the opitome of relaxation and once you hit full Zen is when your day starts.Once you're finally up you find one of his hoodies to put on and head to the kitchen.

Though he's not good at cooking, he tries and you love that about him. Dinner was *wince* sub par but you admire his effort, now you want to return the favor. You decide to make him blueberry waffles with a side of fruit salad. You turn on some music to match the bright morning mood but you get lost in the task and don't notice Joon entering the kitchen.

"Need any help there?" His voice sneaks up at you but his lips on you cheek calms you down. After you ask him to bring you the milk and a couple of glasses, you ask him to sit down. He complies with out incident. He watches you set the table with a smile. This is one of his favorite parts of your relationship. He loves the dependable role but he also likes being taken care of.

"I made us breakfast as a thanks for dinner", you then kiss his lips and he kisses back.

"Anytime, love", he responds.

"Anytime."

Park Jimin

Jimin and you are up early to run errands today. Buffy and barefaced, the two of you put on whatever is available and look over the to-do list. Once you both decide on what's of importance, you head off to start your day in hopes that it will be quick so you can hurry up back into you pjs. Since Jimin just got his licence you toss him the keys. To be honest, you hated driving so Jimin's licence is a God's send.

As he drives through the town, you two perk up more. Enough to sing along to the radio. Jimin's voice is professional and beautiful but you know how to hold your own with a melody. "Wow y/n, you can hold a note almost as good as Jin hyung!" You both laugh. The more you two sing, the more awake you become. By time you make it to the store, you two are fully up. He splits the list so you can cut the time and you both separate for the time being. And it was successful because you both leave in record time. Once you get to the car you're both just happy to go home and end the day together.

Kim Taehyung

Mornings with Taehyung was always the best. Well besides nights with him. After long days you both love to come home to one another. Catch up on the day, hangout out, and embrace each other. So much so that you often wake up still in a embrace caused by your cuddly boyfriend but you didn't mind the skinship. Honestly, you craved his touch when he's not around. Last night, Taehyung had one of his bestfriends, Jungkook, over to play Death Stranding all night. You were fine with it so you went to bed without him that night. But morning came and you don't feel him on you.

You rub the sleep from your eyes to find your robe. Once you open your bedroom door you hear soft snoring coming from the living room. But Tae doesn't snore. You peak pass the wall to see two sets of bodies on each couch. You recognize the sandy blonde hair to be your boyfriend and the dark brown too be Jungkook.

Still too tired to deal with them, you head to the fridge to get some water. Turning on the water sprout on the fridge caused a soft hum but not soft enough. Suddenly you hear the boys clear their voices and yawning.

"Morning baby", you here from your hazy boyfriend and his best friend right after, "Are you making us breakfast?" You walk pass Jungkook saying no and a quick hair ruffle.

Walking pass Taehyung, you gesture him to the room, "I'm going back to bed, Tae." Before you can fully lie down, you see Taehyung climbing to be with you. Leaving his friend.

Jeon Jungkook

"How should we split the chores?"

This is the last thing you two need to figure out now that you're living together. You've spent a night or two at each other's residents but now that your relationship has bloomed more and more, you two took a huge step forward. This is your first official week of being a live in couple and now realized that mornings are best for you too. You're both usually out in the afternoon and tired at night, so mornings practically are sacred.

"How about I do laundry and you dust the living room and hallway?", Jungkook proposes while scrolling social media.

"Can't dust, Kook. I have bad allergies." You look at the ceiling thinking, "I'll do the laundry and clean the kitchen."

"But you're terrible at laundry", he laughs, "You don't even know when to change the water tempature." You nod in agreement because there's no fighting the truth. You crawl to him to cuddle from behind, wrapping your legs around him, "let's figure this out later." The final solution is the best one cuz he puts his phone down and rubs your arms that are clasped arm him.
