The Guardians. A group of the smartest, strongest people who help defeat and quell dimension anomalies (anomalies like Hemic). That’s what Vi was born for; what Miss Phoenix was born for. Two sisters from the strongest man and the smartest woman, both destined to save the universe.

Training was hard. Their parents never knew them because the Guardians whisked the two away to the institute. Vi clung to science and math quickly. She loves chemistry most. She knows all languages, including ones no longer spoken. Miss Phoenix had a knack for fire magic (which unfortunately triggered when she got angry… she could fix that).

They were given a key to the Archive (will explain later; for now, the Archive is like a giant museum full of all resources and doors to every dimension, was made by Horatia). Just don’t take too much, and you’ll be okay.

Vi took too much. (TW: blood, body horror)

While the final test happened to make sure each Guardian in training was ready, Vi was having her eyes ripped apart and her brain bled out. It was the only time she didn’t answer her sister’s calls.

Miss Phoenix saved her… but the damage was already done.

There’s a reason Vi’s face is covered by bandages.

Miss Phoenix passed her test and became a Guardian.

Vi was given a… more personalized test, since she missed the main one. The goal? Kill Ruin (this is after he destroyed all dimensions; time works differently here).

Vi hadn’t even thought about how the job would involve killing. She just couldn’t do it. She just couldn’t bring herself to murder.

So they kicked her out, destined to be a drifter forever with no home dimension. She failed the test.

Everything she worked her whole life for was just within reach… and then pulled far, far away.
