That night was Thorn's 1st birthday. Derrick was still at work so Iris and Nimue celebrated on their own. Iris helped Thorn to blow out the candles...

... and he aged up! Such a cutie! And I finally remembered to start rolling for glasses in Round 8... 😄 They make sense for him though and look really adorable!

When Derrick got home from work, he was responsible for putting Thorn down. I loved Thorn's little pink pyjamas to match his hand-me-down pink crib and Iris' all pink room! Smash those stereotypes, Thorn!

I have a headcanon he nearly gets shot and it sets off a panic attack, because all approximately 37 of us in this fandom have agreed that James is a PTSD Anxiety Child and I love that for us.

Well its not like they have lot of strength to conceal.

Cousin Phillips didn't take alot of arm twisting to accept Sarah Phillips not only coming along, but being a journalist.

I wonder if he's always known she'd end up doing something like it and was always supportive of her living a life against the grain, perhaps because he's gay and understands what its like to be different from what proper society expects from you. Maybe they both can relate to each other chafing under society's restraint, and also both relate to the freedom and self-discovery they are experiencing in this new world (Tom finding his calling as an officer and finding his love, Sarah finding her calling as a journalist and finding her love,) though they went different paths to find that freedom. Maybe that's one of the features of the Phillips family - her dad seems to have run away to the new world for freedom, too, although in my head he handles it poorly.

Anyway back to the PBS Kids' show.

That night, while still under the effects of Smart Milk, it was time for Thorn to age up. No party for him, after Nimue's big get-together earlier that day, so everyone just gathered in the kitchen with a cake. Iris helped her nooboo blow out the candles...

... and he aged up! Looks like he likes orange too, so there won't be any trouble moving him into Nimue's room when she moves out next round.

For now, though, he's relegated to the single bed in the corner of Iris and Derrick's room, just like Nimue had to put up with for a while when she was a teen.

The round came to an end that night so here's a family photo!

At the end of the round, Derrick and Iris are both 41, Nimue is 19 and Thorn is 4 and ready to start school (as we can see from the school bus just pulling up outside when I took the picture)! Nimue will be moving out next round to her own place to free up some room in this little two bedroom house.

The next family is Frost, who just moved out and who we'll now call the Grimsbane family!

i’m actually so serious about ewan mcgregor’s filmography. no one else is serious enough abt it. there’s so many incredible movies and about 90 of them are underrated or cult classics. star wars is great but it’s almost one of the least interesting things he’s done. there’s trainspotting! there’s moulin rouge! shallow grave! down with love! i love you phillip morris! big fish! perfect sense (devastating movie)! birds of prey!!! not to mention his season of fargo!!! where he plays not one but TWO characters and blows it so far out of the water i was genuinely sobbing by the end of it. like on my knees. good stuff
