My brain fog is so bad. I put away my sleep mask this morning and in no time at all I forgot where it was. I was looking around the backyard in case one of the dogs had gotten it. Reminds me to take my supplements!

Home/Indoor Exercises for PCOS
I have been in lockdown for almost 1 month and at this stage, there seems to be no end in sight. Being in isolation and at home 24-7, some days feel really long especially not being able to see friends, family and go about your normal activities like going to the gym. I miss working out in the gym and attending fitness classes.
I started to revert back to my old self, sitting at home in front of the TV after my workday is over and constantly looking for snacks, chocolates, and junk food throughout the day. I noticed that some of my PCOS symptoms have started coming back i.e. pimples, oily hair, moody, sluggish, tired, and a lack of energy. One day, I woke up telling myself that I have to change and I started incorporating workout routines from home.
By finding new ways to get moving and stay motivated, you can take charge of your mood and well-being, retain a sense of control during these days of great uncertainty. These are some of my favorite home exercises for PCOS. Note: I complete different exercises on alternate days and rest the next day. For example, I might do a HIIT exercise on Monday, rest on Tuesday and do Zumba on Wednesday and rest Thursday and so forth.
HIIT exercises - I am currently following this youtube video and I absolutely love it! It's not too intense and it's a good workout for beginners like me > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UItWltVZZmE
Zumba exercises - There are so many good videos out there but this is my favorite because they have 'normal' and not super fit people in the workout video which is awesome to see! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC_L9qAHVJ8
Abs exercises - This form of exercise is less intense than the first two so you can do this on days when your body is in recovery mode or you've had a long day in the office and want something quick and relatively easy. This is my go-to video at the moment > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pLT-olgUJs
I would love to hear what are some of your favorite home workout routines during the lockdown period?

Lovely day for a walk.
Spring is so lovely in Atlanta, Ga. In the morning, I took some laps around in the park. It's a reminder to get in as many outdoors workouts as I can, before summer begins.

📢NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) has been scientifically studied to have numerous benefits for PCOS 👉NAC is a powerful antioxidant that works to reduce inflammation since inflammation is a hallmark factor of PCOS 👉It lowers insulin resistance which effects most of the women with PCOS. 👉It helps to lower androgens ( male hormones ), since elevated levels of male hormones can cause symptoms like acne, facial hair, irregular periods, hair loss which aggravates the condition. 👉Regulates menstrual cycle and improves fertility.

Research has found that what people eat has a significant effect on PCOS. That said, there is currently no standard diet for PCOS.
However, there is widespread agreement about which foods are beneficial and seem to help people manage their condition, and which foods to avoid.

The other day I decided to give myself some self care / me day so what I did was I went shopping for the first time in YEARS where I did NOT try on any of the clothes I bought because thank you Miss COVID over here decided to fuck shit up lol anyways I bought all of these cute outfits hoping and praying that I would fit in them. After that I decided to go to Sephora to get some new make up. I just recently got into make u, and decided “fuck it why not!” So I bought new make up and decided when I got to my house with my brother, niece and a friend of mine. We decided to smoke, and while we smoked I decided to try on the new clothes. Guys!! To my surprise I had gone down two sizes from my original size. PLUS the pants were still a little bit loose so that way when I do get bloated or what not it’s still comfortable. I am so proud of myself for how far I have come with everything. On top of all that I’m over here dancing and singing along to music. Afterwards, with the help of my friend guiding me on how to properly put on foundation and shit like that I did my own make up and with her help once again we did a mini photoshoot! Here are the photos that came out and I was also so proud of how my make up came out! It just came out perfectly! I am so so happy I was able to do this and was able to make myself feel genuinely happy and confident! So cheers to made more self care / me days and to the days that I won’t feel so pretty I hope I could look back at this post and remind myself that I am beautiful no matter what.🧡🌸✨

Today: A Win!
For more than 5 years I have been overweight to obese. This is a result of PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). No matter what I do, I cannot lose weight and to top it off, my menstrual cycles has been a mess. For years, I did not have my period. I would occasionally take pills to force it out but it affected my skin.
The only way to regulate my period was to lose weight. And the only way I could lose weight was to manage my PCOS.
I’ve gone to the OB Gyn every now and then. But couldn’t stay consistent even with an HMO coverage. I thought to myself “I don’t have time”.
As I aged, I realised the importance of staying healthy. Although I did not have other illnesses, my PCOS was always in my head.
So now, during the quarantine, I continued my prescribed medication. missing a day or a time every now and then but I have been consistent.
I’ve seen changes in my body, like losing weight *celebratory dance* and clearing of my skin on top of my skin care routine.
And today, TODAY, for the first time in forever, I have my period without taking pills!
I HAVE MY PERIOD
It is such a win in this trying times. For me, at least. I know a lot of us are experiencing different things and have a heavier weight than my mere PCOS. But it is a WIN for me.
The one thing, I guess, good that came out from this pandemic is a much needed reset for those who can afford to reset. Me included.

LOL at old men visibly recoiling when I bought pads this morning. And these are the people who want to control (or want to try that) what I do with my body? HA!

Whenever I get discouraged over anything, whenever I feel depressed about something I wanted and didn't get i throw myself passionately into something else first time trying to buy a house: got denied, bought a new vehicle only days later. Everytime I got a negative pregnancy test I either tried to buy something large or start a new project of sorts, for example right now im learning Greek but in a very bad time as I'm in university at the moment trying to get a BN which is the last project I started because I was upset.

PCOS and Weight
Being Asian, I would say that I am blessed with one positive trait which is being petite. BUUUT I have all the other bad genes too like having bad eyesight, being one of the shortest in class, and having squinty eyes >.<
I have been pretty skinny all my life except during the time in University where I put on a couple of kilos. I am only 155 cm (5.1") and putting on 5 kg does make a person look different. In my graduation photo, my family back home would make comments such as wow, you have put on weight! your face looks so round! you got chubby cheeks now! what have you been eating in Aus! I was sad but I couldn't figure out what was happening to my body. I thought I was just overindulging in food and alcohol lol.
Little did I know that this was all due to my body not being able to break down the excess sugar leading to insulin resistance and hence I was putting on weight. With insulin resistance, blood sugar may be normal, but insulin is high. Why? Because the pancreas has to make more and more insulin to try to get its message through. Too much insulin generates inflammation and causes weight gain. It can also lead to Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Too much insulin is also an underlying physiological driver of PCOS.
Bam, I learned this after a visit to my doctor after being diagnosed with PCOS. This explained why I was putting on weight despite being healthy. The doctor casually told me not to worry too much, and taking the Pill should help with this. Was this really the only way? I did a whole heap of research after my diagnosis and decided to take matters into my own hands and not rely on medication. This was what I have done to lose weight and to feel good about myself and my body again.
| completely cut out alcohol | exercise 3 times a week. I did a combination of strength and cardio workouts | get a solid 8 hours of sleep a night | meditate for 5 minutes everyday | cook from Monday to Friday and eat out only on the weekends | reduce intake of sugary products. That's right, consume fewer desserts! | take supplements such as fish oil, evening primrose oil and hair, skin and nails
And just like that.....the weight started dropping and I felt content, happy, and energized! I hope I can help someone else in this world by sharing my story who is currently struggling with weight loss! Please know that you are NOT ALONE :)
