#like servant like sultana huh? but this time it's *Mahidevran* who apparently mirrors Gülşah as we see her rule later. both got these #positions so unexpectedly - it should've probably been someone else but it's them and they're *thrilled* as they can finally achieve what #they've always wanted through these promotions: to command power over these so despised people that have disrespected them; that they've #been embarrassed by; that have even taken their most cherished away; for Gülşah it's something more general/all-encompassing opposed by #many people while for Mahidevran it's something more specific opposed by a single person but both *feel* that same drive to seek #accountability and justice to the point of enacting revenge anyway. they both ultimately get carried away by that pull. they both operate #by letting people know they're in charge through pulling rank as an absolute lecturing that precise tradition and order that puts them #above brazenly issuing orders to discredit and/or outright punish those who've offended them: it's one person Mahi/Gülşah have a particular #beef with during their rules (Daye/Hürrem respectively) but Gülşah didn't show any resentment of Daye until that point thus Daye is more #the cumulative power Gülşah is starting to lord above while Hü is that exact hurt for Mahi bringing it all back to the general vs. personal #there're other notable differences here like in their speeches about order/tradition because quite a part of Mahi actually believes in #the good these traditions can bring and their necessity as much as she resents their restrictive ruthlessness but Gülşah doesn't believe in #any tradition really she just mirrors what she's seen and known her entire life using it just for her goals no more no less;#for Gülşah all will be okay only when they do what she says because she's so understandably insecure about her authority over *everyone*#while for Mahi all will be fine only when the order is kept in general including there being no unrest among the concubines #(hence peace; another pre-Manisa to post-Manisa transitional point perhaps?); they both want 2 certain ağas to “understand” but while they #say they do without much/any question for Mahi no matter how much they dislike it they are almost forced to by Gülşah and they don't hide #not their dislike but *disregard*; even Gülşah's short rule is telling of her position: SS dismissing her is completely out of her control #she's removed before even doing all that much - another symbolic reminder of how little agency she has - while SS dismissed Mahi because #she truly screwed up a lot in spite of her being framed this is the one time she was given *all* the agency; they both encounter the person #they're replaced with but with Gülşah it happens immediately to highlight the out-of-reach suddenness while with Mahi it happens afterwards #as a result almost. the something being that i don't sense any malicious hateful intent coming from either gojo or sukuna. this is a rare enemies/rivals trope imo. like their whole theme is about teaching love and trying to maybe come to a mutual understanding despite fate cruelly putting them on the opposite sides, as they are really just different sides of the same coin. and that's one of the many reasons why i love this pairing. it's not easy to find a non-toxic enemies/rivals dynamic portrayal in media so i'm glad that jjk is an exception.

YES YES ANON, they really don't hate each other at all. one thing i was thinking about is how gojo doesn't seem to think of sukuna as this malicious Evil thing that other sorcerers (rightfully) make him out to be. he... really hasn't been shown to harbor any ill feelings towards sukuna, even after all he's done.

and their fight is playful, they're playing, they're having fun, it's recreation. sure the fate of the world is at stake here, but that's not what it's about for them at all.

there's not hate, not even dislike, it's simply. well to steal canon's words. love. an overwhelming sense of pleasure, of satisfaction, of fulfillment.

Also, it's extremely cool to see a Ghost with a focus on multiplicity, from one plural to another.

oh!! that'll be extremely useful given I want to try doing more complex stuff with animations in the future! thanks for letting me know!

yeah!! aster is a bit of a vessel to write about our own plural experiences and write fictional ones twisted into it. in part our reason for the project is a subtle introduction to plurality as a concept to more people! primarily the goal is to just have fun with it, but if our work helps in the bigger picture it would be nice!

#the valley is posting #now that's how you write a show; someone give their writing room an emmy (and also a fair share of the profits ofc pay your writers)#and here i was thinking we'd never have great star wars again #the first three episodes were slow i'll grant you that but once you get past the beginning #it's some of the most mature; well thought out; and radical writing you'll find on tv #all the characters are really well written with their own complicated motivations and goals #the different themes are like sucker punches to the gut executed with more precision than an operating scalpel #the creativity and the worldbuilding is so incredible and visceral #i gotta write up a proper review of this sometime

Earlier this month, we made a post asking for your support in attaining 15 year-old Nour’s monthly treatment for her congenital heart condition. Unfortunately, the funds raised came too late. Nour’s health took a dramatic downturn yesterday, and the doctor said that because she had gone so long between monthly treatments, several of Nour’s heart valves have closed up. She now requires an urgent operation to save her heart.

NOUR WILL DIE WITHOUT THIS SURGERY!! She is dying right now because her heart is struggling to function! She needs this surgery IMMEDIATELY to save her young life!!

The doctor said the surgery will cost $8000 USD. Nour’s family’s GFM is in Canadian dollars, or CAD, of which the conversion rate to USD is $1 USD=$1.41 CAD. This means we need $11,300 CAD in donations in order to pay the equivalent of $8000 USD for her surgery.

We NEED to raise the funds ASAP so Nour has a chance at survival!! We are breaking this sum up into 2 smaller goals to be more attainable. Our first goal to save Nour’s life is to raise $4000 USD/$5656 CAD.

I created this art as a gift for my friend Diya. This is his son, Magdy and his cat whose story I shared here.

Right now, Diya is separated from his family in Gaza and has been for over a year. His family is facing the second winter since they were displaced from their home. The winters in Gaza are harsh. People are taking shelter in flimsy tents, that don't protect them from the wind and rain. The rain brings with it flooding that destroys everything. Diseases are spreading with no access to proper sanitation and medical care. When they went to receive polio vaccinations, they witnessed an IOF attack on the taxi in front of them.

The last donation was 6 hours ago, and there have only been 4 donations in the 24 hours. We need to help Diya reach his short-term goal of 30% so he can help his family purchase winter supplies that they need to survive. It is already November. There is literally no time to waste.
