I don't know if this was intentional or not, but the paralells between Buffy and Dawn standing up to mr Maclay in Family and Tara standing up to Xander and Anya in Older and Far Away are just...Gaah. Tara is almost directly quoting Buffy, some variation of "if you want her, you got to go trough me." Her pose is the same as Dawn's:

It's just, it was the first time someone, anyone, stod up to Tara's abusers. It was a type of love she had never been shown before and she mimics it when she has to stand up to someone. It was Buffy and Dawn who taught her how to do that!!! Tara has been formed by the love of all of the scoobies, not just Willow.

yet more buffy - at the end of Older And Far Away in s6, when it's come out that dawn has been shoplifting, and everyone finally leaves the party after the curse is lifted, and buffy looks at dawn and closes the door - we'd always assumed dawn was about to get really told off, but tonight for the first time we noticed that just as the door is closing and it's just the two of them

Maybe it doesn’t call for it to happen but I would think with Willow’s serious emotional addiction she wouldn’t be able to go to classes. I mean if we’re treating it as a proper alcohol/drug addiction, something like school would be too much stress for her while dealing with emotional addiction. Not to mention it would be a health and safety hazard.

Are you telling me that even during the ‘Smashed/Wrecked’ arc she still went to college? She almost killed her best friend’s sister for christ sake… the last place she’s gonna be able to go is a school.

It’s probably because they keep it all hush hush because it does involve the supernatural and all but it’s like I said - if it’s supposed to be a proper parallel to alcohol/drug addiction, then she shouldn’t be allowed to step in a school. Even for her own sake.

Saying that, she really should have been immediately ejected from the Summers household too after the events of ‘Wrecked’ and that didn’t happen. The responsible adult left instead.

And how’s about the other elephant in the room regarding this subject? Again - if it’s a proper parallel - what would “alcohol/drugs” be able to do to get them out of the predicament they were in?

The writing is a little off if you ask me. I’m just noticing some of the discrepancies with it watching this reaction. While it’s true that Willow’s use of magic wouldn’t have helped them out - the parallels to it being a proper alcohol/drug addiction - don’t really work for an episode like this. In other words - Anya shouldn’t have cared about Willow’s magic.

I think these are the times where people complain that the magic=drugs metaphor is too heavy-handed. And honestly - I don’t blame them. The writing here in using the metaphor is off quite a bit.

Waiting for future reveal that Marius took the memories Armand was able to recollect about his past in Delhi.

In The Vampire Armand it lines up with the show that due to the trauma Armand faces while kidnapped, enslaved, and abused in the brothel, he had little memory of his life in Delhi, but would still remember fragments here and there.

Armand's first memory he tells Daniel about in 1973, Armand is being run down by slavers.

I think Marius forced Armand to believe he was sold by his parents so that he'd stop longing for his past/culture/religion, and focus on cult de Romanus.

like the contrast of Arun's parents selling him to slavers in the show vs Andrei's father in The Vampire Armand chasing after the raiders that took his son while wounded by multiple arrows (and weeping and begging him to stay when they reunite later on), It'd be such a drastic thing for the show to change about his character, that instead of being taken from a family who loved him he was sold by said family instead??

I've always been like wow memory erasing what a crazy ability for them to introduce in the show...wonder where he learned that from...

Obviously from what Armand believes about his family, I don't think we'll get Armand going back to his homeland flashback scenes like in the book. I think instead Marius deliberately took that opportunity away from him by convincing him he was never loved until Marius and there is nothing for him to go back to.

Just another way for him to have full control and devotion from Amedeo.

I haven't gone through most of the gamefreak leaks but I find it odd that people are going bonkers over the typhlosion thing in such a gross way bc like

1) its clearly mythos/lore? Based on concepts they decided not to lean into.

It is Not Canon / Cut Content for a reason - the reason being that was not the direction they wanted to take the series since it is very very very specifically geared towards a teen audience.

Could a teen audience have handled the themes? I would argue yes - but they disagree, and so it was cut.

2) Even if we ignore everything else implied by that story - it is literally not that different from like. Normal furries...??? Like.

The typhlosion was communicating in human speech. It was taking on a humanoid form. It clearly understood humanoid needs and ties and emotions.

The ending directly said that the lesson they learned was that Typhlosion are more humanoid than initially suspected. This is leaning more into the "monster" / yokai aspect of pokemon that has Always been there.

3) These themes are really common in real world mythology in pretty much all places in the world, and they are typically used as teaching moments to warn (in this case...) Young Girls from wandering into the woods alone, lest a predator Of Some Kind take advantage of their isolation.

Another thing I find fascinating is that they didn't really do Away with some of these concepts - they just moved it onto Zoroark (and other pokemon) instead. Many canon pokemon still behave this way, just sith the more adult or worrying themes omitted.

From what I've seen and experienced with Pokemon growing up, there's always been the backbones of something darker and more "grimms tales" underneath. I just don't understand the Disgust and Surprise when realistically, the world has always had a pretty strong undercurrent and ties to Yokai, Demonology, Religion and Monsters - the notion that SOME lean more humanoid than others is the very reason we have a humanoid egg group to begin with, and why ditto, mew two, etc exist.

Also. Like. I get wishing we had more of those dark themes in the games. But us adults who grew up on Pokemon haaavvvree to remember that despite growing up and still loving the game series, us adults...are not their target demographic. At least we DEFINITELY weren't at the time mush of the Typhlosion stuff was being written. Whether we think thats stupid or not doesn't change that.

The changes they made are a direct result of going "okay guys maybe this is a little too much for 10 to 14 year olds..." And that's their narrative choices to make.

Heya no worries at all for the question! This is an important thing and if you needed to have a place to say it I am happy you did!

I really hope people will be nicer to you :// There is never a good reason for bullying unfortunately it happens a lot on internet QvQ my only advice would be to block those people and/or delete anonymous asks for a while if people are just putting stuff as anonymous :///

To answer your questions, idk if it counts as bullying but I was the target of some stuff like that yep, and tbh I don't really know why. People can have the opinions they want but I will be honest in the tbhk fandom you like a character or a ship that is not 'what everyone in the fandom should like' and people start menacing you for no reason.

A lot of people in this fandom are kids who sometimes don't get what insulting people do. (and not only kids but it is one of the reason, I feel like a lot don't have 'internet basis' like not saying everything about yourself on twitter help.)

Which is also one of the reason I am taking my distances with anyone in this fandom because I had too many unwanted stuff like when I was just trying to be nice and answer messages. It's not because we are in the same fandom that we are bffs.

This is sad to say but yes I don't think you can just have fun 'fun' in this fandom anymore, people will make sure you have a hard time for no reason and honestly I am tired of people who are unable to understand that we aren't just bots on the internet and that Surprise! people have feelings wow

I hope you will be better but don't hesitate to take some time off the fandom a bit ^^ I am being overly dramatic here because I had some bad experiences (I've been in the fandom since the start of 2020 so welp) but a lot of people are really nice and I am sure you can make some friends too ^^ (I did too! even if a lot aren't in the fandom anymore, it's nice seeing mutuals from far away doing their lives)
