🌊Neptune in the Houses🌊
1st house:
You choose how to act and project yourself to others based on the subconscious cues that you acquire from them. Your identity is often based on how others see you and talk about it. There is a degree of loss when it comes to self-expression- the unheard child learns to perform to express identity.
2nd house:
Poor with managing, organizing, and structuring finances and possessions. Overly generous with resources. Might make money in nefarious ways if Neptune is poorly aspected. More positively, these natives might profit from pharmacology, marine biology, medicine, or NGO work.
3rd house:
The local environment has a Piscean element. Early school years also were characterized by daydreaming and escaping from learning. The loss of a sibling to unknown or sudden causes is likely in some cases (depending on the aspects). It could suggest that your siblings/cousins/classmates that are close to you are artists, singers, or dreamers. In a negative sense, this might attract escapist friends with a heavy victim mentality.
4th house:
Issues with water, pipes, and flooding in the home. Home near bodies of water. Your mother or a potent female figure in your life might be sick and require care from you or your family members. In this case, the gist is that the family might cause you to feel neglected and forgotten, making you want to escape the domestic setting through art or physical separation. These natives are quite nocturnal- they sleep all day and stay up all night to avoid their families in some cases.
5th house:
Death of children. Loss of lovers to illness, substance abuse, prison, crime, or mental disorders. Lovers might be absent while present either because of their own commitments to helping someone old/vulnerable or through escapism (drugs, sex, alcohol, etc) or poor health.
6th house:
Watch out for the immune system. Habits and routines might not express a desire for a person to live well. Poor habits. Disorganized. No discipline and routine when it comes to eating, working, exercising and taking care of oneself at the bodily level. Neglected as a child and did not learn to properly care for themselves.
7th house:
Attracted to partners that aren't really "there." This sense of absence in presence can be because of the following things: frequent travels, substance abuse, prison, mental illness, philanthropic work that takes the person's time, religious fidelity, etc. You might "lose" a partner to their vices and blame yourself for it.
8th house:
Potential for misunderstandings in transactions (financial) with others. Deception when it comes to money that you get from others. There is vagueness and gullibility when perceiving people's sexual or financial advances toward us. Be careful of who you let into your life sexually or romantically.
9th house:
Confusion regarding beliefs, higher education, and vision for the future. If in university, the campus might be located near water, or you might study subjects related to the pharmaceutical industry, oil, gas, pharmacology, parasitology, virology, marine studies, psychology, or you might enter esoteric fields (astrology, tarot, etc.) or you might study theology.
10th house:
Confusion about future and career. Fear tied to career prospects and the father. The father might have been absent or neglectful which manifests in an inability to be stable in a job.
11th house:
Friends slip through your fingers. We may need clarification about our hopes and life goals because Neptune here makes our ideals changeable. So, our vision for life is usually mutable and influenced by external forces that people rarely have the self-awareness to explore. This is also a highly intuitive placement.
12th house:
This is a good placement because Neptune is comfortable in the 12th house. Intuition is good. Sleep is very essential for you. Heightened motivation to get to know yourself through self-reflection, meditation, and spirituality, and project these learnings to heighten your empathy.
Thank you for reading!

The U.K.'s last coal-fired power plant was to close permanently on Monday — bringing an end to 140 years of reliance on the fossil fuel to generate electricity in Britain. The move will make the U.K. the first major global economy to completely phase out coal as an energy source.
The Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station, located near a small village in southern England, was to close its doors for the last time at midnight local time. The power station has been generating electricity since 1967 and "played a key role in keeping the nation's lights on," its parent company Uniper said in a statement Monday.
"Since commissioning it has produced enough energy to make more than 21 trillion cups of tea and its 2GW capacity is enough to power two million homes," the company said.
Peter O'Grady, the plant's manager, told CBS News it was "an emotional day."
"When I started my career 36 years ago, none of us imagined a future without coal generation in our lifetimes. I am incredibly proud of what we've achieved together over the years and to be part of this energy milestone as the country focuses on a cleaner energy future," he said.
The move sees the U.K. make good on one of the environmental pledges made by the government as part of a wider strategy to combat climate change and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Coal is considered the single most damaging fossil fuel for the environment, according to Greenpeace, as it releases more carbon dioxide than oil or gas. Coal also produces mercury and arsenic, and small particles of soot which contribute to air pollution.
Thirteen countries have already phased out coal as a source of energy, according to independent climate think tank Ember, but Britain will be the only member of the G7 group of economically advanced, democratic nations to do so thus far.
In the G7's largest economy by a significant margin, the U.S., the Department of Energy acknowledges that coal is still "used to generate a significant chunk of our nation's electricity" — about 16% of the total share in 2023, according to the Energy Information Administration.
U.K. Energy Minister Michael Shanks said in a statement sent Monday to CBS News that the closure of the Ratcliffe power station "marks the end of an era, and coal workers can be rightly proud of their work powering our country for over 140 years."
"The era of coal might be ending, but a new age of good energy jobs for our country is just beginning," Shanks said.
The first coal plant in Britain went online in 1882, when Thomas Edison's Holborn Viaduct coal plant started generating electricity for public use. It was a first-of-its-kind station, and it burned enough coal to provide energy to light 1,000 lamps in the City of London.
Despite efforts to make the industry cleaner, the fundamentals of coal-fired electricity generation have remained largely unchanged since Edison's company fired up its boilers. The process involves burning the fossil fuel to heat water to create steam, which spins a turbine to produce electricity.

Fallout Companions and the Jobs They'd Have in a Modern AU
Cait: Physical Therapist. I feel like she'd be either a PT/OT or an actual therapist. Specifically for sportspeople. Though this is if Sole meets her post-boxing career. If not, well, she's a Boxer.
Curie: School Nurse. No doubt in my mind. She loves working with kids. Thinks they're the "future we all need". Also thinks they're adorable and the stories they have for her are always really sweet. She's adored by the entire school (which is probably an elementary/middle school) and always gives her patients a lollipop.
Codsworth: Butler/Nanny. That's a given. I mean, he's programmed to be a butler. Think an Alfred type-beat. Loves to cook on the side and his employers always love when he cooks for them.
Danse: OSHA employee/Safety Inspector. Another pretty obvious one. Is really vigorous and the GMs he shakes down always despise getting him for checks. Takes his job very seriously. Post BB (TBD what that translates to in a modern AU), he works as a freelance mechanic. Always some form of grease/oil on his uniform.
Deacon: Makeup Artist, duh. Or a SFX artist. Loves his craft, probably cosplays on the side. I don't have much to say for Deacon, but he probably holds competitions with his fellow artists for "best wig" and things like that. He hoards the entries to those comps.
Dogmeat: Instagram dog. 600k followers, MINIMUM. We love Dogmeat here, he deserves the best. Spends his days chasing ducks and barking at cars, much to Sole's (and DM's follower's) delight.
Hancock: Laid-back Gas Station employee. Sells weed on the side. Always zoinked out of his mind and probably needs a detox. Doesn't do much on the clock, but when his higher-ups come in, he straightens out. Pretends to not see the homeless people swiping ramen/chip packets because "Fuck capitalism. Homies need to eat."
MacCready: The homeless person Hancock refuses to call the cops on (/j). In seriousness, MacCready probably works as a freelance builder. For my Aussies, think a Tradie. Doesn't like his job and wants nothing more than to be a stay-at-home Dad, but needs to work for Duncan's sake. Very dusty, all the time.
Valentine: Grief Counsellor. Helps those who lost loved ones to manage their emotions. Always dreamed of being a detective, but never got the chance. I feel like that helps him connect with his patients as he lost something close to him as well. Maybe worked as a detective in his early days but had to retire after Winter's End?
Piper: English Teacher/assistant. Maybe works at the same school Curie does. Buys weed from Hancock. She wants to be a reporter, but a stable job is more important to her so she can care for Nat. Adores her kids, but despises the workload. Teaches night classes for those who struggle with English.
Preston: Works in the community department of the local government. Organises homeless drives, soup kitchens, etc. Really into charity work and probably volunteers on the side. Aggressively nice to everyone who comes into his office. "HAVE SOME TEA. PLEASE, EAT. EAT."
Strong: Works under MacCready. Demolitions expert. That or a Personal Trainer, for obvious reasons. He'd be really into whatever he does and keeps his head down for the most part. Goes to Piper's night classes.
x6: The manager who hates Danse. Probably works in a government-sanctioned building, so he actually works with Danse a lot. Sits in his office that probably has a catwalk over the actual building and looks down on his peasant employees. Think Lord Farquaad.

Trump solicited about $1 billion from Big Oil at a fundraising conclave at Mar-a-Lago in return for future favorable treatment — if their filthy lucre helps him return to the Oval Office.
We lost four years fighting climate change during the previous Trump administration. A second term would do the planet grievous harm.
It's necessary to alert everybody concerned about the future of Earth of the danger of a second Trump presidency.
A new Washington Post report that Trump made explicit policy promises to a roomful of Big Oil executives—while urging them to raise $1 billion for his campaign—is a powerful story in part because it wrecks what’s left of that mystique. In case you didn’t already know this, it shows yet again that if Trump has employed that aforementioned knowledge of elite corruption and self-dealing to any ends in his public career, it’s chiefly to benefit himself. That counter narrative is a story that Democrats have a big opportunity to tell—if they seize on this news effectively. How might they do that? For starters, the revelations seem to cry out for more scrutiny from Congress. Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, who has been presiding over hearings into the oil industry as chair of the Budget Committee, says it’s “highly likely” that the committee will examine the new revelations. [ ... ]
As the Post reports, an oil company executive at the gathering, held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last month, complained about environmental regulations under the Biden administration. Then this happened: Trump’s response stunned several of the executives in the room overlooking the ocean: You all are wealthy enough, he said, that you should raise $1 billion to return me to the White House. At the dinner, he vowed to immediately reverse dozens of President Biden’s environmental rules and policies and stop new ones from being enacted, according to people with knowledge of the meeting, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation. Giving $1 billion would be a “deal,” Trump said, because of the taxation and regulation they would avoid thanks to him, according to the people. Obviously industries have long donated to politicians in both parties in hopes of governance that takes their interests into account, and they explicitly lobby for this as well. But in this case, Trump may have made detailed, concrete promises while simultaneously soliciting a precise amount in campaign contributions.
Just a mention that Tumblr formatting won't permit indentations inside indentations. As a substitute, I used red to depict double indentation.
Anyway...
For instance, the Post reports, Trump vowed to scrap Biden’s ban on permits for new liquefied natural gas exports “on the first day.” He also promised to overturn new tailpipe emission limits designed to encourage the transition to electric vehicles, and he dangled more leases for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, “a priority that several of the executives raised.” “The phrase that instantly came to mind as I was reading the story was ‘quid pro quo,’” Whitehouse told me. He also pointed to a new Politico report that oil industry officials are drawing up executive orders for Trump to sign as president. “Put those things together and it starts to look mighty damn corrupt,” Whitehouse said.
Trump may just be a pile of orange flab with a porcine mouth and bad hair, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be taken seriously. Among many other bad things, Trump is a figurehead for Big Oil. Oil companies are already busy composing executive orders for Trump to sign.
If elected, Trump would throw into reverse our transition to a decarbonized future, one that’s creating untold numbers of manufacturing jobs—including in the very places that Trump has attacked Democratic elites for supposedly abandoning—all in exchange for mega-checks from chortling fat cats right out of the most garish of Gilded Age cartoons. For good measure, some of that loot could help Trump secure elite impunity for his own corruption and alleged crimes. We can’t say we weren’t warned. Trump has told us all this himself.
Progressives toying with third party temptations need to be set right: The only way to defeat Donald Trump is to vote for Joe Biden.
There will NEVER be a President RFK Jr., a President Jill Stein, or a President Cornel West. Such vanity candidates are usually little more than eccentric freaks. The last time a non-Democrat or non-Republican was elected president was 1848. But with American democracy and the future of the planet at stake, self-indulgence at the ballot box this year could lead directly to dystopia.

Who Is Lee Zeldin? (Sierra Club:
Excerpt from this story from the Sierra Club:
President-elect Donald Trump’s selection to lead the Environmental Protection Agency is, in a word, unexpected. The appointment announced on November 11—in which the Trump transition team erroneously referred to the EPA as the “Environmental Protective Agency”—was not an energy industry lobbyist like Andrew Wheeler or a MAGA insider like Mandy Gunasekara, who authored the EPA chapter of Project 2025. Instead, Trump chose Lee Zeldin, a little-known former Republican congressman from Long Island, New York, whose background on environment and energy issues is relatively skimpy.
So, then: Who is this person who will be in charge of the federal agency tasked with protecting the environment and public health?
Zeldin is a politician and military officer who grew up in New York’s Suffolk County. From 2015 to 2023, he represented New York’s First District (eastern Long Island) in Congress, where he sat on the House Foreign Affairs and Financial Services Committees. Before that, he served for four years in the New York state senate. In 2022, he ran for governor of New York against Democrat Kathy Hochul, a race that he lost by six points.
He’s a booster of fossil fuels and promises to unleash “energy dominance.”
In his run for governor of New York, Zeldin campaigned on expanding fossil fuel extraction. He called for allowing “the safe extraction of natural resources in the southern tier” of the state, approving new pipelines, and repealing the gasoline tax. He also was a staunch opponent of New York’s ban on fracking and ran on ending it. “[Zeldin] has a record of being pro-fracking, and that’s a record I think he’s going to clearly carry forward into the Trump administration,” Eric Weltman, a senior organizer in Food and Water Watch’s New York office, told Sierra.
Zeldin has mentioned pursuing “energy dominance” as one of three top priorities in heading up the EPA. “It is an honor to join President Trump’s cabinet as EPA administrator. We will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI,” Zeldin said in a statement on X.
He has taken more than $410,000 from the oil and gas industry, and he questions the scientific consensus on climate change.
According to Climate Power, Zeldin has received over $410,000 from the oil and gas industry in his election campaigns, including over $260,000 while running for Congress and more than $150,000 in his gubernatorial run. He has taken more than $60,000 from Koch Industries over the course of his political career, according to Open Secrets data.
His voting record in Congress is mostly anti-environment, with an LCV lifetime score of just 14 percent.
Zeldin unsurprisingly has an overall poor voting track record, as scored by the League of Conservation Voters. “Trump made his anti–climate action, anti-environment agenda very clear during his first term and again during his 2024 campaign. During the confirmation process, we would challenge Lee Zeldin to show how he would be better than Trump’s campaign promises or his own failing 14 percent environmental score if he wants to be charged with protecting the air we breathe, the water we drink, and finding solutions to climate change,” Tiernan Sittenfeld, LCV’s senior vice president for government affairs, said in a statement.
He supported a few conservation efforts for his district.
While in Congress, Zeldin backed several conservation initiatives for his district in Long Island. According to the campaign website for his gubernatorial run, he helped save Plum Island—a tiny island off the eastern tip of Long Island—by securing repeal of a 2008 law requiring it to be sold to the highest bidder. He also worked with the Army Corps of Engineers to “protect our coastlines, advancing the ambitious Fire Island to Montauk Point project,” a climate resiliency coastal risk reduction project to help safeguard Long Island’s prized beaches.
He appears to be against clean energy funding and tried to gut public transit funding in New York.
In addition to voting against the IRA and its massive clean energy investments, Zeldin early on in his political career attempted to divert funding away from clean energy programs in New York and undermine the New York City area’s transit system, according to Environmental Advocates NY. The New York environmental organization bestowed its “Oil Slick” award in 2011 on Zeldin, a rookie state senator at the time who led an effort to try to weaken public transit. He sponsored a bill that would have defunded the MTA, resulted in service cuts and fare increases, and discouraged public transit use. The bill would have also diverted $100 million away from clean energy programs to “plug holes in MTA’s finances.”

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024.
Why did you close the door the last time you closed one? I closed the bathroom door. We used to close it because the sink faucet was leaky and the noise was obnoxious, but now I just do it out of habit.
Stripes or polka dots? Not a huge fan of either when it comes to clothing.
Do you care if people touch you when they’re talking to you? Depends. Like if they come over and put their hand on my arm or shoulder while they're telling me something, that's fine, idc.
What is your gender? So ready to transcend this mortal flesh so I don't have to think about it anymore.
Do you think that people think its obvious? Hella.
How long did your first date last? You mean the relationship? A little over a year.
Is your favorite color within 10 feet of you? Yeah.
Highlight of your day? Probably seeing Nan. She's great. She's a volunteer who does shitloads of laundry for the shelter.
Would you rather be on a boat or a plane? What kind of boat? What kind of plane? Where am I going?
Can you tell when girls (or guys) have eyeliner on? Probably.
Can you cook? Lol I usually say, "Well, I can follow a recipe - it's not that hard." But sometimes it is that hard - to trust and just do what it says. ;D
How high is your ceiling? Idk.
Whats the worst job you can think of? Got that Hoist the Colors North Sea oil rig song stuck the fvck in my head right now.
Do you swear a lot? Depends on the company and how zesty I'm feeling.
Does the last person you texted have an O in their name? No.
Is everything working in your house? No.
Would you rather have a pool or a trampoline? Trampoline.
Does pop give you energy? Not enough to be noticeable. Same with coffee.
TV show you love with a passion? Let's go with podcasts instead since I don't really watch TV anymore. One of my favorites would be Brothers of the Serpent.
Do you think you learned anything from the worst night of your life? Not sure what I would consider to be the worst night of my life, but probably a combination of "I can survive more than I think I can" and "self-destruction never makes a difficult situation better."
Perfect age to get married? I don't think there is a perfect age.
Is it safe to say you own over 20 pairs of shoes? Not even close.
Name a career path that women are known for taking. I don't know if this is a career path women are known for taking, but the animal shelter staff is comprised of mostly women. There are only two men working there atm.
Favorite type of cookie? Peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia nut, sugar cookies…etc.
A quality you look for in choosing a significant other? Aside from the usual qualities, the sense that I can just be myself around them. That they really do love me for me.
What would I find if I looked in your pocket? Nothing.
What was your first word? Aside from Mama and Dada, I think it was Duck.
A musical instrument you wouldn’t mind learning how to play? Harp, guitar, or violin.
Last time you went to 7-eleven? No idea. But I was at Loaf-N-Jug recently to fill up on gas.
A fast food restaurant that you hate with a passion? There isn't one.
Does everyone in your family have a job? My mom and dad are retired. Last I knew, my sibling wasn't working. I'm also not employed, but I do volunteer work.
Going anywhere this weekend? Animal shelter both days.

Last person you had a face to face conversation with? My dad.
Where’s your phone? On my desk, charging.
Do you know the difference between your and you’re? Yeah.
How late did you stay up last night? I was in bed by around 7:00pm.
Anyone you’re ready to kill? No. Not even myself. :')
Do you need to get a tan? Curious about how I would look with a tan, but I don't actually want one.
What do you want? Gonna drop an annoying cliche here, but I would love to "find my tribe." I'm acquainted with a number of great people, but…ugh. Chronic outsider syndrome.
Favorite TV show as a kid? Franklin, Little Bear, DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Gullah Gullah Island, Hey Arnold, etc.
What’s a show that you absolutely refuse to watch? There are plenty of shows I'm not interested in watching, but it's not like I'm specifically refusing.

Don’t you hate those commercials that try too hard? I hate commercials in general.
Is the fan on? No.
Any special reason why you’re taking this survey? Took it for a couple of questions and now I'm regrettably committed.
What does the last text message you sent say? I sent a few random words to my dad to let him know I was on the way home from the shelter earlier.
Your friend needs you to run to the store to get a pregnancy test. Do you? I have one friend and it's not possible for them to get pregnant. They also live in California, so even if it was for their partner or whoever, the answer would still be no.
Do you log out on facebook when you leave the site? Don't use Facebook. I don't log out of my other social media accounts, though.
What color are your underwear? Blue, gray, and yellow. Lol, they've got dump trucks on them. ;D
How short are your nails? Pretty short, but I still need to clip them within the next couple of days.
Do you like the opposite sex to be dominant or you the one in control? I would prefer a more "dominant" partner. Not to the point of being overbearing, but more of a protective / take the lead kind of way.
Favorite holiday? I just love the holiday season in general. It's not about the actual days themselves, but the feelings of excitement, nostalgia, and festivity surrounding them.
If I asked you to point to Ohio on a map of the US do you think you could? Nope. Pointed to Wisconsin instead lmao.

Is there anyone who you call by their last name? No.
What did you do on your last birthday? I spent the morning at the animal shelter and then went out to lunch with my parents.
Which of the Seven Deadly Sins do you commit the most? Envy and sloth.

Do you personally think Wikipedia is a reliable source? No.
Have you ever shopped at Wet Seal before? Did you like it? I've been to Wet Seal before, but I didn't purchase anything.
What is your favorite Disney movie of all time? Ooh, that's tough. Maybe Pocahontas, Beauty & the Beast, or Moana.
When you were a child, did you ever want to become a wizard/witch? Maybe a little bit.
Would you rather have hardwood floors or carpet? Definitely hardwood. So sick of dirty old carpet.
Who was the last person you yelled at? Why? Probably my dad.
As a kid, did you ever go to camp? Yeah. Camp Jackson and Camp Lazy Acres.
Have you ever made out in a movie theater before? Hmmm.
Are you currently trying to learn to play any instrument? No.
When was the last time you went somewhere you thought was haunted? I don't think I've been anywhere I felt was haunted.
Who was the last person to compliment you? Nan.
How old were you when you got to go on your first date? I think I was 13. I went to a Gold Kings hockey game with Michael and his mom.
Would you call your parents over-protective or under-protective? Somewhere in the middle, I suppose, with my dad being slightly more over-protective.
Did your parents ever let you play in the pits of those multicolored balls? Yeah.
Have any of your siblings ever had a crush on your significant other? I don't think so.
Do you still watch cartoons on television? No.
What do you usually order at Taco Bell, if you go there? I haven't been to Taco Bell in forever, but maybe a black bean crunch wrap supreme and a side of nachos and cheese.
Is there anyone currently annoying you? No.
Have you ever felt like someone was following you? No.
Do you like short or long surveys the best? I prefer shorter ones. This one was a bit too long for my tastes.
Have you ever bought fake money and tried to make it pass for real? No.
Are your siblings nice the majority of the time? I have no idea how my sibling acts the majority of the time, but due to some of the things they've said and done, I don't think of them as a very nice person.
Do you freak out when a thunderstorm comes along? Nooo. I love thunderstorms.
How often do you shower? Almost daily. Twice daily if I go to the shelter.
Have you ever had to sell something for a school fundraiser? Yeah.
How many sodas do you usually drink in one day? Zero.
Have you ever met someone who was completely weird all-around? Sure.
Do you ever watch any soap operas? Naw.
Have you ever met someone who was mean to everyone? Not everyone but Alex could be that way behind some people's backs. Made me wonder what she was saying when I wasn't around.
Do you think long surveys are boring or entertaining? Sometimes they start to drag. No matter how interesting the questions are, I start to get drained after a while.
What color is your significant other’s hair? No significant other.
Have you ever applied for a job at Walmart before? No.
Would you ever become a foster parent? No.
Are you ashamed of anyone in your family? No.
When you get married, will you convert your last name? Probably.
Are your parents divorced, married or separated? They're separated, technically not fully / legally divorced.
Has someone ever left a relationship with you for someone else? Yeah.
What’s the most painful thing you’ve ever experienced? I don't knooowww. It's so hard to pick a single event because it's not always about the event itself, but how it piled upon or compounded other already existing hardships.

Professionalism and Neurodiversity
I’ve been working since I was 15 years old. I worked a summer job at a cherry processing factory the summer between my sophomore and junior years, the summer between my junior and senior years, and the summer after I graduated high school. I went straight from working at the factory to my first full-time job working at a gas station. I worked at the gas station for four years. I then moved to a big box retail store working in their automotive department doing oil changes and tire work. I worked then as a service writer/adviser at the same shop, and then I moved inside the store to work as a sales associate.
All of these times I have had ‘problems’ with my brain. I had severe anxiety when I first started working at the gas station. I almost quit a week into it because working with money stressed me out. I also got a talking to from my boss for not being personable with the customers and at least greeting them. The customers really didn't want to talk to me either but that's neither here nor there. I did not know the extent of my Neurodiversity until way after this.
I thought it would be just a silly funny thing to do if I took the RAADs Autism assessment. (I will at no time during this post claim I have autism because I have not been officially diagnosed.) This funny silly little thing to do really sent me down a rabbit hole when I scored 140. To put that in perspective no Neurotypical would score above a 64. I’ve shared this with friends and they haven’t been very surprised? I guess I haven’t always masked as well as I thought I have.
Anyways working while being Neurodivergent sucks. I consider myself lucky because I can work. I even enjoy working sometimes. Other times I just need to leave and I can’t. There have been times where I’ve literally had to tell a customer on the phone to hold so I could just close my eyes and ears and block out all the noises. The phone is right next to the window out to the shop as well as the register. There are times where my coworkers are ringing someone up and talking to them, the techs are making loud noises and there’s an announcement going on the PA system all while the customer is trying to get me to give them a price on tires and I just can’t fucking handle it.
I am a people pleaser. I don’t like to tell people no. I think this has a lot to do with my anxiety thinking that people won’t like me anymore if I tell them no and I’m no longer useful to them. I think it’s also become part of my mask. My mask is this really helpful guy that knows what he’s talking about, does his job well and will help others do their job and whatever is asked of them with minimal complaining. And yes I see my mask as a male even though I now consider myself nonbinary, idk why.
I’ve been asked before what career I want. No one likes it when I say I don’t want one. Like literally my only big goal in life is to be happy. I stupidly said this during a job interview once and unsurprisingly didn’t get the job. I don’t want my whole life to revolve around trying to get a better and better job and unfortunately for me in this stupid ass economy that really doesn’t work.
I’m not sure what this post was supposed to be tbh. Maybe I just want to rant. Maybe I want someone to find this and read it and relate to it so we both know that we aren’t alone in how we feel. Maybe I just want validation from strangers on the internet. Who knows why I do anything at this point. I sure as hell don’t.

thinking about how fucked up it was that in my senior year of high school we all had to sit through a lecture about how difficult economic times were ahead and so we had to make sure we chose a career path that would actually get us a job and not just leave us unemployed with tons of debt.
then they gave us a list of jobs that would be obsolete in a few years (pretty much anything arts/humanities lol) and said we should avoid them if possible and a list of jobs that would definitely be hiring (mostly stem or stuff in the fucking oil and gas industry) that we should consider instead.
anyway, that's the reason why i chose a college major i wasn't super interested in and even when i realized i hated it i didn't change it until the end of my second year (which btw, left me more in debt than if i had just studied what i wanted from the start lol).
#i think i have a few followers from alberta but for everyone else: the oil and gas industry is like. a huge deal socially and economically#like they literally named the hockey team in the capital city 'the oilers'#anyway in my graduating year (2015) there was a huge crash in the price of oil so a lot of people lost their jobs#and the provincial economy was pretty fucked up for a bit. good times.#blah blah blah

What's the vibe? #37
News:
Rishi Sunak has decided to push back on the UK's net zero commitments. What does it mean for us?
Side read: What Rishi Sunak’s net zero overhaul means for UK emissions (FT)
Net Zero: "Put simply, net zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) that's produced and the amount that's removed from the atmosphere. It can be achieved through a combination of emission reduction and emission removal." -National Grid
Probably the most relevant policy change to a young person is the end of the sale of diesel and petrol cars from 2030 to 2035. I guess this helps the car makers but we also must think about clean air, and resources (oil) still needed to be used.
I wasn't certain before but between this, HS2 not being fully developed for the whole country and abolishing inheritance tax, we might see the end of the 13 year Tory party rule in 10 Downing Street. It's just not going well with Tory donors who have been with the party for years. It's very obvious now that climate change is a topic that is seen as unavoidable across party lines so pushing back targets is really unpopular.
Young people ditching ambitions over UK cost of living crisis, research finds - The Guardian
"Two-thirds of the 18- to 24-year-olds who were questioned for the research have lowered their career expectations, with the cost of living, the state of the UK economy and their own mental health named as the biggest factors.
The research, based on interviews with 2,500 young people, was carried out for the Prince’s Trust with the LadBible Group, with a consumer youth panel consisting of over 55,000 Gen Zs, born between 1997 and 2012, and millennials, born between 1981 and 1996."
How can we inspire young people in this country to see optimistically? How can we create places where we get together and do healthy (maybe non alcohol related) activities? Where they can focus if they want to, lose themselves in something artistic if they want to or just be spiritually replenished by environments they choose to be in.
London Design Festival just finished, saw this amazing AI work by moooi x EveryHuman. An interview also with I think the same company?
Milan Fashion Week:
Prada:
Sunnei - quite an interesting show. Again following the trend of audience participation during Milan Fashion Week alongside Diesel. Also connected to the trend of maybe main character energy??? Not very clear on how to describe this but also connected to a post on twitter going viral about actors and how they look during Cannes press junkets with their names and microphones and also the new B*lenciaga campaign with sunglasses.
B*lenciaga campaign:
New York was very clothes to be seen in...maybe passive even, this feels a little more power charged, you are being perceived at every angle but that's okay, you look great.
Bottega:
New Albums:
Doja Cat, Loraine James, Laurel Halo, Yeule, Eartheater, Kylie Minogue....
youtube
Beauty:
Business of the week:
EatWasted - A Copenhagen based company making pasta from bread waste. They also do "supper clubs"/food events, with the cooked pasta where people are asked to BYOB (bring your own bowl) to reduce waste and donate food to people in need. Each bowl is 99kr (=£11).
Reading List:
Dazed Magazine, Issue 281, Volume V, Autumn 2023
China's Gen Z Is Trying to Leisure-Shop Way Out of Jobless Blues (Bloomberg)
"Recent college graduate Yang Zhifeng, 22, became discouraged and decided not to hunt for a full-time job after seeing hundreds of applicants applying for just one white-collar position. Despite her newly inked degree, she settled for work as a part-time receptionist at a Shanghai hostel catering to job seekers, for only 1,000 yuan ($137) a month.
Regardless, Yang said she still allocates money to visit local tourism spots, attend comic conventions and try hot new restaurants with her friends.
“When the job market is that bad, why are we struggling and giving ourselves a hard time?” she said. “This is a good time to rethink what lifestyle fits us better and makes us happier.”

Excerpt from this story from Anthropocene Magazine:
Nearly ten times as many people in America now work at Starbucks than dig for coal. Coal mining has long been a canary of America’s energy transition—it lost hundreds of thousands of workers in the 20th century, and has shrunk in half again since 2012.
Losing dirty, dangerous coal jobs is one thing, but the wholesale dismantling of our fossil fuel economy promises to be far more disruptive. True, but there’s a huge caveat. The bright light on the horizon is that most estimates of new clean energy jobs dwarf even the largest oil refineries and auto plants.
Winners
1. Everyone (on average). 2021 was a big year for energy jobs globally—it was the first time that more people around the world were working in clean energy jobs than fossil fuels, according to the International Energy Authority (IEA). While the US is still lagging behind that curve, clean energy jobs here are growing at twice the rate of the rest of the energy sector, says the Department of Energy (DOE). And the future looks rosy. Researchers at Dartmouth College calculate that a low carbon economy in the US would create two or even three green energy jobs for every fossil fuel job lost. (That fits with an earlier study out of Berkeley, which found that renewable and sustainable power sources inherently require more people per gigawatt hour of electricity generated, compared to fossil fuel plants).
2. Solar installers and battery makers. Photovoltaic and energy storage companies have been on a tear, adding tens of thousands of workers last year in the US. When considered along with wind, EVs, heat pumps and critical minerals supply, solar power and batteries accounted for over half of all job growth in global energy production since 2019. And the IEA expects these sectors to add tens of millions more jobs by the end of the decade.
3. Some surprise hires. Don’t count out Big Oil and Big Auto just yet. Both the IEA and the DOE expect the fossil fuel industry (particularly natural gas) to hire more workers in the immediate future, albeit at slower rates than clean energy jobs and tailing off in years to come. The IEA notes that if fossil fuel companies could successfully transition to hydrogen, carbon capture, geothermal and biofuels processing, they could almost offset decreases in core oil and gas employment all the way to 2030. It also expects car makers to pivot to EV production, retraining workers and safeguarding many jobs.
Losers
1. Oil workers. Changing careers means more than just a quick retraining session. Morgan Frank at the University of Pittsburgh went down the rabbit hole of what transferring US fossil fuel employment to green jobs would actually mean, and the answer isn’t pretty. His team’s paper in Nature found that green energy jobs are not co-located with today’s oil and gas workers, leading them to predict that almost 99% of extraction workers would not transition to green jobs. And any workers that do make the change face a financial hit. The IEA notes that workers moving from oil and gas to wind, solar and hydrogen today would see pay cuts of 15 to 30%.
2. Petro-states. The shift to green energy will be difficult for economies that rely heavily on fossil fuel extraction and processing. Consultancy EY has an illuminating, interactive webpage allowing you to compare employment in regions around the world, under different decarbonization scenarios. Spoiler alert—oil producing nations in the Middle East and Australia are likely to see employment slump, and even Africa could experience a destabilizing wobble unless it accelerates production of green hydrogen and EV battery materials. “Due to the transition, socio-economic sustainability risks will likely increase as the employment rate drops,” warns author Catherine Friday.
3. Homer Simpson. Some low-carbon energy sectors aren’t exactly booming. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) expects the employment of nuclear technicians to decline 6% from 2023 to 2033. The US hit peak nuclear power stations in 2012 and has been declining ever since, as facilities age into decommissioning without being replaced. Meanwhile, a planned new generation of safer, cheaper and more efficient fission reactors continues to suffer cost overruns, red tape and delays, and commercial nuclear fusion remains a decades-distant dream. D’oh!
What To Keep An Eye On
1. Labor shortages. Workers skilled in green energy jobs won’t just appear from nowhere. Projects are already facing delays in the EU and the US from labor shortages. Biden’s omnibus Inflation Reduction Act included incentives for partnering with apprentice programs and other funding that could be used to train maintenance workers, and installers for clean energy projects. But millions of workers will be needed, and in short order.
2. Carbon capture. The IPCC estimates that between 350 and 1200 gigatons of CO2 will need to be captured and stored this century. No one really knows yet what the technologies needed to achieve that will look like, but they will likely involve a lot of new workers. Climate research firm Rhodium Group estimated that each gigaton captured could translate to 1.5 million construction and 500,000 operation jobs.
3. Chat (and other) bots for hire. Any predictions about the future workplace should be taken with a large pinch of AI and robotics. The BLS just issued a report that shows dozens of occupations employing hundreds of thousands of Americans are likely to shrink in the years ahead. Top of the list are clerks and supervisors, but there are plenty of manufacturing and production roles at risk, too, that could affect the green energy roll-out.
