Hii Liz, how was your day?
Do you like to read a lot? I've been reading this book called Rage Becomes Her and I find it super interesting! (and it opens my eyes more for certain topics) I thought I would share :)
If you do like to read what's your favorite book?
Greetings...(idk it sounds better in my first language I think),
Your Dutch nonny
Hi Dutch!! Sorry it's taken me so long to answer this 😅
Anyway, I used to be a VORACIOUS reader, but kind of stopped as I got older and life got in the way. I'm trying to pick it back up again, but the pressure to write (my own doing) usually outweighs my want to read, especially given what's popular these days. I've had looooooooong conversations about how hard it is to find something actually good to read with the rise of Booktok, and not just stuff that's following a formula because it's what's popular or because it has smut. Smut does not a good story make, ya know?
I haven't heard of that book! What's it about??
I have some of my favorites listed on my About Me page (I need to link it on my actual navigation and not just on my mobile bio lol), but here's a list for you!
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Night Road by A.M. Jenkins
The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
Earth Abides by George R. Stewart
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice (Also Mayfair Witches)
The May Bird Trilogy by Jodi Lynn Anderson
To Kill a Mockingbird by Lee Harper
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
This is in no way, shape, or form a cohesive list, so let me know if you want more recommendations!
Also, my day was great! Went and saw Twisters with friends, and then we went and had sushi before ghost hunting!!

The. 10th of August was 135 years since the birth of HRH Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark (10 August 1888 – 21 January 1940)
He was the fifth and youngest son and youngest child of King George I of Greece, belonging to a dynasty which mounted and lost the throne of Greece several times during his lifetime. Much of his life was spent living abroad.
Christopher was born at Pavlovsk, Imperial Russia, son of King George I of Greece and Queen Olga, a Russian grand duchess by birth. He was the youngest of their eight children, being twenty years younger than their oldest child, Constantine. He was called "Christo" in the family. His older brothers were future King Constantine I, George, Nicholas and Andrew.
Christopher, like his siblings, was a polyglot, speaking Greek, English, Danish, Russian, French, and Italian. The siblings spoke Greek to one another, and used English with their parents. The parents, however, spoke German to each other.
The Greek royal family maintained close relations with the Danish royal family, to which they also officially belonged. The Hellenic royal line was a cadet branch of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg dynasty which had mounted the throne of Greece in 1863.
When Christopher came of age he joined the Hellenic Navy, although apparently he would rather have studied the piano. While a young man, he was apparently offered no fewer than three different thrones - those of Portugal,Lithuania, and Albania - but he declined them all, as he did not wish the stress of royal duties.
He was briefly engaged to Princess Alexandra, 2nd Duchess of Fife in about 1910 (Alexandra's mother, Princess Louise, Duchess of Fife, was a daughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, herself an older sister of George I of Greece, Christopher's father so she was his First Cousin ). The engagement was terminated when disapproving parents learned of the liaison.
On 1 January 1920, Christopher married a very wealthy American widow, Nonnie May "Nancy" Stewart Worthington Leeds, at Vevey, Switzerland. His bride, a once-divorced and once-widowed commoner at least a decade older than the prince, was nonetheless recognised as Christopher's dynastic wife by his family (at the time of the engagement and wedding, the Greek royal family lived frugally in exile, and as Christopher was last in the dynasty's order of succession, any children he fathered would not impact the succession rights of other Greek dynasts). Her fortune, estimated in the tens of millions of dollars, was inherited from her second husband, a tin millionaire, and substantially eased the Greek royal family's exile during the 1920s. The wedding followed a six-year engagement while the royal court-in-exile negotiated the terms and arrangements of the marriage.
Shortly after their marriage, Princess Anastasia developed cancer, and died in London on 29 August 1923, leaving no children from this marriage. Prince Christopher did, however, have a stepson, William Bateman Leeds Jr (1902–1971), who had, in 1921, married Princess Xenia Georgievna of Russia. She was Christopher's niece through his elder sister, Marie of Greece, Grand Duchess George of Russia.
Prince Christopher later remarried; his second wife was Princess Françoise of Orléans (25 December 1902 – 25 February 1953).
Françoise was a daughter of Jean d'Orléans, Duc de Guise, Orléanist pretender to the throne of France, by his wife/first cousin, Isabelle d'Orléans.Isabelle was, in turn, a daughter of Philippe, Comte de Paris by his wife and first cousin, Infanta Isabel de Orléans y Borbon.
The couple were married in 1929 in Palermo, Italy; the civil ceremony was on 10 February, and the religious one on 11 February. They were childless for a decade, then one child was born to Françoise: Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark was born in Rome in 1939, shortly before Prince Christopher's death.
Prince Christopher recorded his thoughts on monarchy and those aspiring to it: "Nothing under the sun would induce me to accept a Kingdom. A crown is too heavy a thing to be put on lightly. It has to be worn by those born to that destiny, but that any man should willingly take on the responsibility, not being constrained by duty to do so, passes my comprehension.”
Prince Christopher of Greece died in Athens on 21 January 1940, aged 51 and he is buried in the Tatoi Royal cemetery next to his second wife Princess Françoise. His first wife Princess Anastasia is buried according her will in United States with her parents in the family mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York City.

hii i hope i'm doing this right, may i request a shortcake? kazuha x reader, library, the reader just finished their mystery novel and is lying on his lap with the sentence starter "without love, the truth can't be seen." (the sentence is quite vague since i'd like to see your interpretation of it!! :DD)
hey lovely! no worries, you're doing just fine! ;) i'll be back with your order shortly! *p.s. the mysterious benedict society is a real book and does not belong to me. It belongs to Trenton Lee Stewart. alternatively, you can find it as a television adaptation on disney plus!
library dates – kazuha x gn!reader
"Without love, the truth can't be seen." You clutched your copy of The Mysterious Benedict Society, head on Kazuha's comfy lap. The two of you were hanging out in the Mondstadt library, after your request to see your good friend, Lisa, again. The short visit had quickly evolved into a 3-hour-reading session there, and you wanted to get comfortable!
"Well.. isn't that quite the truth, then? However, one might be blinded by love to the truth, don't you think?" Kazuha chuckled.
"I mean.. if we love the truth enough, we have to balance it. We can love the truth but they have to co-exist with each other. If we don't have love, we may be impartial to the truth!" You replied, looking at him enthusiastically.
"I guess that's true. But let's say for instance.. a lady cheats on her husband, but because the husband loves her so much, he refuses to see that it's true even after she had admitted it. What do you think?" He looked at you, eager for your opinion – this was just one of the many things he loved about you. Your ability to hold a conversation was something that he truly admired, after meeting people whose responses were generally short but not sweet.
"Hm. I guess it could go both ways, then. It has to be balanced. Without love, the truth cannot be seen. But too much love and the truth may be hidden from sight. Yes! That's it!" You declared excitedly, finally coming to a conclusion. Kazuha smiled at your eagerness.
Soon, your time at the library had to end – due to closing hours – and Kazuha took your hand, leading you out of the headquarters.
"Thanks for today, Kazuha. It was nice." You smiled, clutching his hand in yours.
"Anytime, (Y/N). I'm glad our time spent here was memorable for you." He replied, a gentle smile gracing his features.
Dates with him truly were the best.
gahhh nonnie i hope you like this!!! it was so interesting to write, especially with the starter quote! <3

in the scene where may and athena tall mays whole outfit clashed horribly which is pretty strange for a girl with usually very put together outfits. do you think this was supposed to represent her internal conflict in terms of career?
Hey Nonnie
Did you think it clashed horribly - I thought it clashed fabulously!! it had a very late 70's early 80's pop rock glam vibe going on (Rod Stewart, David Bowie etc) which I loved. They were the right shades on their respective pink and yellow spectrums to compliment each other rather than clash!!
In all seriousness - the use of texture and pattern is definitely meant to suggest her internal conflict - the fuzzy pink being suggestive of following your heart (hence the pink) but the path its going to lead you on being less defined it is more about your gut and trusting yourself.
While the linear practicality of plaid - on legs no less (the things we travel on as humans) - is much more of a defined pattern and the path to travel is clearer but still has its cross roads. Neither is an easy option and neither will be without having to make further choices its essentially a case of head over heart for May to make

J.J.Astor’s steam yacht, “Nourma” (USS Noma).
Noma was a large steam yacht, designed by Tams, Lemoine & Crane and built by the Burlee Dry Dock Co. of Staten Island, New York, Yard No. 235, and launched on 11 February 1902. She was built for William Bateman Leeds, the "Tin Plate King", who had married Nonnie May Stewart Worthington in 1900 and the following year sold his tin-plate business to US Steel for $40 million.
The yacht measured 763 GRT when built, with a lengths of 70.2 metres (230.3 ft)(pp) and 80.0 metres (262.5 ft)(oa), a beam of 8.7 metres (28.5 ft), and a draught of 4.7 metres (15.4 ft). Noma's two 4-cylinder triple expansion steam engines, also made by Burlee Dry Dock, totalled 518 nhp, drove twin screws and gave her a speed of 19 knots.
Leeds died in 1908 and in 1911 Noma was bought by John Jacob Astor IV, though his ownership was short-lived as he died in the sinking of Titanic the following year, and the yacht passed to his son, Vincent Astor.
The Noma was loaned to the U.S. Navy during World War I as a patrol craft assigned to protect shipping from German submarines. At war’s end she served the American Relief Commission in Constantinople and the Black Sea before being returned to her owner after decommissioning. In the 1930s she was converted to a salvage tug, owned in Italy as Salvatore Primo, and torpedoed during World War II.

What does it mean when they say "Netflix is gonna promote S&B like Twilight" ??? I'm have no idea.
Oh, anon. Anon, anon, anon. I’m sorry that I, of all people, must soil that blissful innocence, pop your cherry. Act as your Darkling and guide you to a higher if sadder state of consciousness and more worldly connaissance. I hope you’re ready for some fandom history, nonny.
In the original Twilight, our everyday heroine Bella falls into absolute fascination with the mysterious Edward Cullen, a beautiful, shameless cuttease whose dark secret is that he is a vampire who thirsts for Bella’s blood against his better nature, and that is enough of a barrier to the lovers’ consummation. (Think of that juicy, R&J-inspired forbidden love). When Edward leaves, Bella reunites with local friend Jacob Black, who undergoes a drastic change and becomes a werewolf in New Moon. When Bella saves Edward at the end of New Moon (long story), he returns and thereafter in Eclipse begins a cold war between him and Jacob, who is an official romantic rival for Bella’s affections. Bella steadfastly refuses to be a bauble in this macho if very comic tug-a-war, (her father Charlie is completely biased towards Jacob and it’s hilarious) and sticks with her Edward, even though she eventually does see Jacob as a viable option. And thus the infamous Team Edward and Team Jacob shipping wars of the aughts began and raged until Breaking Dawn came out and perhaps beyond. Who should Bella choose? Who is better for Bella? Whom does Bella like best? Who is hotter, period? The marketing team played both sides, of course.
So once again we have a not-quite love triangle with an obvious endgame ship versus a beloved fan favorite ship, only I will avow that the Team Jacob shippers were never a majority in the fandom as the Darklinas were, more like an intense vocal minority. Bedward had always been still the popular ship, a rarity for a canon ship among fandom. Even the film adaptations, flawed as they were, had Kristen Stewart (Bella) with more chemistry with Robert Pattinson (Edward) than Taylor Lautner (Jacob), which isn’t saying much imo. With Darklina vis-à-vis Malina, the disparity is even starker.
In any case, nowadays corporations have finally clued into the power of fan culture and fandom in ways they didn’t in the aughts, so people speculate they may play up the ship wars and romantic speculation à la Twilight. The likeness of the contested ships is admittedly uncanny—though unlike Bardugo, Meyer did have a very strong endgame ship, and even those that didn’t like it or accept it had trouble accepting Bella/Jacob anyway.
#i come anon#shadow and bone#twilight#cristina metas#oh those war flashbacks#for full disclosure i was team edward#it was just obvious#but meyer did make jacob likeable enough for him to win favor#shadow and bone did get a much better film adaptation#what a twist but not an entirely unexpected one#correct me if i get any of this wrong

What is North and South?
I’M GLAD YOU ASKED, INTERNET NONNIE!!!
For the sake of your sanity and patience, I’ll give you the tl;dr version first: It’s a BBC mini-series (4 episodes) based off a book by Elizabeth Gaskell that everyone should absolutely watch (the version with Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe is generally considered to be superior, although there’s an older version with Patrick Stewart that I need to check out at some point) but particularly fans of 1) Pride and Prejudice (because the love story is in many ways similar) and/or 2) fans of smoldering hotties because the miniseries is about 233 minutes long, and Armitage smolders through approximately 230 of those minutes.
Was that still a little long for a tl;dr? OH WELL! Wanna delve into the longer version of why this movie has captured my heart? I’ll be kind and put it under the cut.
What’s the Story?
Excerpted from the BBC website: “Set against the backdrop of Victorian England's industrial north, it follows the fortunes of Margaret Hale, one of 19th century literature's most original heroines. Margaret is a privileged, middle class southerner who is forced to settle in the northern town of Milton. Her distaste for the town and its people extends to handsome and charismatic cotton mill owner John Thornton, whom she believes epitomizes everything she dislikes about the North. As events conspire to throw Margaret and Thornton together, the two spirited characters have to overcome their repressed physical attraction for one another and conquer prejudices of class and circumstance.”
I read online that the BBC actually didn’t expect North and South to be very popular, so they didn’t promote it very much. ... And within two to three hours of it airing, so many fans flocked to the BBC message boards that they crashed the site. Needless to say...the BBC got that one wrong.
That’s Great, But I Meant the Love Story!
Okay, yeah, there’s an interesting perspective about the rise of unions, workers’ rights, and cotton production in the 1850′s, but let’s be honest. That’s not why we’re here. We’re here for the love story. We’re here for the ship. And the ship is SO WORTH IT!
So I said that fans of Pride and Prejudice in particular should watch this because there are a lot of similarities between Elizabeth/Darcy and Margaret/Thornton.
* Initial misunderstanding upon meeting that gives our heroine a very bad impression of our hero? Check
* Pride and prejudice all up in this business? Check
* Hero hopelessly falls for the heroine while the heroine is convinced she cannot stand him? Check
* Even MORE misunderstandings? Cheeeeeeck
* SMOLDER? OH MY GOD CHECK
* Unfortunate Proposal (TM)? Check
* Heroine realizes she was wrong about the hero and falls for him when it May Be Too Late? Check check check
* Romantic moments that will steal your heart/make you swoon/make you think some Very Smutty Thoughts? Check check check check check check check
Honestly, it’s got it all. It’s P&P if Darcy grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and Elizabeth was socially above him. It also gives a lot more of Thornton’s POV than we got in P&P (which, don’t get me wrong, I adore), so if you love Misunderstood Men Soft for Just One Woman but really want to feel their heartbreak at Unrequited Love, let me tell you...whoo boy. There’s one scene in here where Thornton just stuck a dagger right in my heart and is totally the reason I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days and the obsession began. (For those familiar with the show, it’s when he tells his mother she’s the only one who cares for him. Oh my god, he broke my heart in that scene.)
Who’s the Heroine?
Our heroine is Margaret Hale. As it says in the synopsis above, she’s from the South. She moves with her family to the North when her father gives up his position in the church and moves them to the harsher, dirtier, coarser industrial town of Milton. She’s got a good heart and is plenty outspoken, but it takes her some time to adjust, and she does not get the best first impression of Thornton, I’m afraid. Over time, she comes to see him for the honest, honorable, compassionate, thoughtful, Hottie McHotterton that he is.
Okay, she MAY have already realized what a hottie he was because, honestly. LOOK AT HIM.
The Frock-Coated Fox
(My eternal gratitude for whatever N&S fan first coined that phrase because I will always think of him in those terms. Always.)
John Thornton is the owner of Marlborough Mills. He’s coarser than Darcy. Rougher around the edges. More hot-headed. But he abides by a strict code of honor, and his gruff exterior hides an aching vulnerability. He loves Margaret, even when he’s convinced she’ll never love a man like him in return. He’s proud - and hard in many ways - but he has more care and compassion for his workers than Margaret originally assumes (and more than he himself would perhaps admit).
I mentioned his general propensity to smolder, right? Oh, I didn’t?
Nobody
Smolders
Like
John
Thornton
He smolders even when she’s not THERE and he’s just THINKING about her!
But you want to know the only thing better than his smolder? When he’s soft. For her.
I...I may need a moment. My heart can’t take what I’ve just done to myself.
Are There Supporting Characters?
I mean...yeah. And they’re all amazing. Well, Fanny can be a bit of a trial. Even John agrees.
But I appreciate her anyway.
My favorites, though, would be:
Nicholas Higgins. Margaret doesn’t hit it off with him initially, but they eventually become close after she befriends his daughter. A union man, he and Thornton do not initially get along. However, over time, they come to understand and respect each other and he may be the closest thing Thornton has to a friend - at least that we see.
And
Mrs. Thornton, John’s mother. I think she can be a divisive character. I know several people who don’t like her. I, however, ADORE her. Every time I watch the show (and I did three times in one week), I come to love her more. She’s a hard woman - as much by circumstance as inclination - but she has a similar code of honor as her son, and she loves, protects, and believes in him FIERCELY. She is, for that reason...not...so much...a fan of Margaret, particularly after their first meeting, when Margaret scoffs at the notion of any woman being taken with John. Reeeeeeally not the best foot to start off on, girl!
So Is It Worth It?
Yes. It absolutely is, and if you give it a chance, I really hope you tell me what you thought of it!
To finish out my gushfest, I must point out that one of the most incredible things about North and South is how good they are at “show, don’t tell.” I didn’t realize the first few times that I watched that there is no “I love you” exchanged at the end. There doesn’t need to be.
You know.
#north and south#I love these two#John Thornton#Margaret Hale#please watch and let me know what you thought!#Anonymous

amen. these kids need to be fucking left alone. i saw someone shitting on finn cause they thought he was pretentious recently? like jfc he's a 16 year old kid. who didn't appear like that at that age. which is weird, cause i dont get that vibe at all?? they were like he he so bad at interviews??? basically saying he was rude and offputting and standoffish?? like some people are just like that. i'm like that at first glance. i keep seeing people shitting on his s3 acting too. like get a life ppl.
pearlshop(.)tumblr(.)com(/)tagged(/)finn(-)wolfhard --- if you want the link to what kind of things im talkin bout
Yeah, I mean he’s a kid thrown into fame, he became a household name nearly overnight, you’d be dumb to think that it wouldn’t go to your head even just a bit.
But anyways, I don’t find him rude or standoffish or offputting in interviews, I think for season 2 he was a little shellshocked by it all which yeah you could see he was a little quieter, but the season 3 press tour I’m not seeing that at all. Here I go once again, but I’m going to compare him to Kristin Stewart for a bit. People thought she was a bitch for the longest time because of how fucking awkward she is in interviews, and I’m getting that vibe from Finn. He just seems like an awkward person in general (I mean, he grew how much in how long? He’s lanky as fuck, a 16 year old musician, obviously exhausted from work and touring and whatnot, I would be surprised if he wasn’t awkward to tell you the truth).
As for his acting in s3, I don’t think it was bad. Trust me, I seeeeee a lot of bad acting firsthand (and from big budget movies and tv), and I didn’t think the quality had changed between any of the seasons. He’s said that he’s trying to go a bit more comedic with Mike, which I appreciate because he wants to get into comedy, and as an editor, I take that as an actor who really likes the character and wants to put part of themselves into it. DIRECTORS LOVE THAT SHIT. It means he connects with and understands the writing and feels comfortable in the role making it all the more believable (sIGNS OF A GOOD ACTOR).
As for the blog you linked me to, the first post I saw was talking about how he has shitty friends. I don’t think they’re shitty, pretty sure that’s sheer exaggeration, although I don’t know them, the only one I know is Jared, 19, doesn’t know how to read. Who also may I add just came out I’m pretty sure? I don’t think his friends are outwardly homophobic. Sure, they act like idiots on the internet, but what teenager doesn’t nowadays? Finn is also a lot younger than them, so some of the stuff he’s said in streams and in videos is probably to make himself feel like he’s fitting in with an older crowd. It’s nothing but peacocking tbh. ALSO he hangs out with a lot more than just them I’m sure. The kids from his band seem super down to earth and they were friends before they started making music together.
He hasn’t been in my office, but I know people who were working on set with him for Dog Days and say he’s an absolute sweetheart, easy to be around, easy to talk to and really friendly on set. I’d take what you see of him on camera with a grain of salt because that’s one very narrow version of himself.
Anyways, another day another rant, thanks for the message nonnie, I will happily defend Finn’s honour, I am a mamma bear.

What I find so frustrating about Jon is that he never seems to learn his lesson about poor communication. It happened with tragic consequences in the NW, and it happens again in s7. He was so offended that Sansa publicly disagreed with him, and I get that it's because of his own insecurity and he felt undermined, but it never occurs to him that she wouldn't have HAD to if he'd discussed it with her beforehand and given her an opportunity to express her concerns privately. Will he ever learn?
Hey, nonnie!
First of all, I’d like to apologize for taking this long to answer. You guys have been sending me a lot of asks, which I love, so it’s taking me quite some time to go through all of them. On a general note, I sometimes prioritize answering asks that come as reactions to one of my posts or that are related to newly released info/promo/photos because I feel that letting those asks sit in my inbox for too long kind of defeats the purpose of them. Which means I don’t always go in a chronological order when answering questions. So if you see that I haven’t answered your ask, please don’t get discouraged. It’s very likely that it’s sitting there waiting for me to find time to give an in-depth answer.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s do this, nonnie!
Btw, love the sheer exasperation coming off of your post. What woman hasn’t asked the “Will he ever learn” question at least once in their lives. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus, indeed. :)))
I actually thought that this would be a good time for me to talk a bit more broadly about what I think Jon’s major two flaws/issues are at the moment and why I feel it’s important for him to overcome them, particularly in the likelihood of him becoming king at the end of season 8.
The first one, as you already pointed out in your ask, is poor communication or, even more generally, his tendency to act as a lone wolf.
This is a bit of a pickle for me because it’s one aspect, I feel, where book Jon differs from show Jon. I think book Jon displays lone wolf characteristics prior to his death. He essentially cuts himself off from his Night Watch brothers, sends Sam to Old Town and seems to take to heart Ned’s mindset of what being a leader is, which is to say that you can love your men but you cannot be their friend. Book Jon applies that to his Night Watch command and it’s in part the reason why he ends up being killed. He just becomes isolated and alone which in turn makes him vulnerable.
Show Jon, I feel, doesn’t do that. Sam leaves for Old Town because he wants to go, despite Jon’s apprehensions and desire that he stay. He explains again and again the importance of the alliance with the Wildlings to his men and takes Ed with him to Hardhome. In private, he attempts to make Ollie see his reasons for making this decision. So I wouldn’t say that poor communication is what gets show Jon killed.
What gets show Jon killed is Allister Thorne, essentially. For one, there is a strong personal animosity there that shouldn’t be underestimated. For two, I genuinely believe that Allister Throne is committed to the Night’s Watch and sees Jon as a dangerous element that needs to be stopped. So he gets his allies together and they plot against him. I don’t think the rest of the group is really as personally invested in the assassination as Thorne is, they’re simply his followers.
The one glaring exception is Ollie whose motivations for killing Jon are deeply personal and, perhaps, from all of them, the one that is most understandable. He sees what Jon is doing as a personal betrayal and he is essentially taking revenge. It’s interesting to note that Ollie’s actions are the ones that hurt Jon the most and the first thing he remembers when he comes back from the dead. In many ways, I still don’t think he’s over Ollie killing him or that he had to execute him for it.
Also important to mention here is that post-assassination, Allister and his group do not receive the support they were perhaps expecting. Ed and a few men loyal to Jon go as far as to oppose them outright and the rest of the Night’s Watch accept what happened because there is seemingly nothing to be done. Which is why when the Wildlings storm Castle Black, most of the Night’s Watch isn’t exactly chopping at the bit to protect Throne and his knife wielders.
The reason why I say all this is because I feel like Jon’s lone wolf tendencies are very much a product of his resurrection and the betrayal he suffered through at the hands of men that called themselves his brothers. He’s naturally a man that values collaboration and communication, over imposing his will unilaterally.
So in that sense, I do think in time he will get back there and be more open to communicating and debating his decisions. His communication issues are very much like Sansa’s trust issues. They’ve both suffered traumas and had their confidence in people abused and shaken, so they’re both reluctant to opening up fully. Also it’s important to note that once it becomes clear to him that Sansa feels excluded and wants her opinion heard, he adjusts and asks her opinion when it comes to Tyrion. So he is trying. That’s something. :)
There’s also a point to be made to what I believe are the differences between the two instances where Jon blindsides Sansa with his decisions, because I don’t think his motivation or intentions were the same in both of them.
In the undermine me scene, I don’t think it occurs to Jon that Sansa would disagree with his decision to pardon Alys Karstark and Ned Umber. In his mind he is making the decision his father would have made (I’m not sure Ned would have done that but Jon tends to idealize him to a degree) so he thinks Sansa will have the same view on the subject as he does. In that sense, I think he’s genuinely surprised that Sansa disagrees with it. He decides to focus on the “undermining” aspect of her disagreement but I think in many respects that’s him deflecting what it truly bothering him which is that he feels Sansa doesn’t trust him enough to have faith in his decisions and that she would be so adamant to punish two young children.
So his reaction to her challenging him is very personal and is a sign of deep vulnerability when it comes to her that he’s trying (not very well) to hide under some sort of political savvy pretense.
Then there’s the scene where he announces to the Great Council that he has decided to go to Dragonstone. Sansa is naturally shocked by this because they’ve already discussed the subject and both her and Davos tell him not to go.
The interesting thing about this scene is that Jon isn’t surprised by her reaction this time. He looks as if he’s expecting it actually. On top of that, Davos is surprised as well which means he didn’t discuss it with him either.
What that tells me is that the reason why he doesn’t talk to Sansa beforehand is not a matter of poor communication in this instance but rather that he chooses not to tell her. The question is: why?
Jonsa fans have theorized that Jon finds it hard to be alone with Sansa because of his personal feelings for her. That may very well be part of the reason for it but, more importantly, I think he doesn’t talk to her beforehand because he doesn’t want to be talked out of leaving.
Let’s put it this way: Jon Snow is not an idiot. He knows going to Dragonstone is dangerous and risky. He knows that he might get killed or captured. He knows all of the things that Sansa tells him during the Council. But he still feels like he has to go because he needs men and dragonglass and dragons. So he avoids the council of Davos and Sansa, in particular, because he doesn’t want to hear the reasons why he shouldn’t go, he doesn’t want to think of the risk he’s placing Sansa in by leaving her alone and he tries, instead, to convince himself that all will work out well.
Which brings us to Jon’s second major issue and one that, unlike his poor communication skills that need some adjustment but are not, in my view, catastrophic in the grand scheme of things (we all have flaws, after all), jeopardizes him and those he loves time and time again. And one that he really needs to get a handle on if he is ever to be a successful king:
His “1st ranger” mindset:
Sansa: Then send an emissary. Don’t go yourself!
Jon: Daenerys is a queen. Only a king can convince her to help us.
Jon: The Free Folk will help us.
Davos: They won’t follow Ser Jorah.
Jon: They won’t have to.
Time and time again we’ve seen Jon put himself at great risk and offer himself up for dangerous, almost suicidal missions. In theory, all of this has the makings of a hero which is great but, as D*ny puts it, heroes don’t tend to live very long because they end up doing stupid things.
In order to understand where this issues comes from, we need to look back to what Jon first stated he had ever wanted, which was to be a ranger in the Night’s Watch and, in time, 1st ranger like his uncle Benjen.
While all the men of the Night’s Watch are expected to bare arms in the case of an attack, the rangers are the real soldiers of the order. So in essence what Jon always wanted to be was a warrior.
Which is great, except that as early as season 1 he’s been constantly derailed from that desire. He wanted to be a ranger but became Joer Mormont’s stewart instead, something he felt was a punishment. It took Sam to point out that the Lord Commander asking for him personally meant that Jon was being prepared for command. But that didn’t seem to make Jon all that happy because and I quote:
Jon: I just … always wanted to be a ranger!
So while everyone around Jon realizes that he is made for leadership, even as he displays alpha tendencies galore, Jon’s dream was to be a follower, not the ultimate authority. I think that hankers back to the hierarchy within the Stark family where the only Stark child actively prepared for leadership was Robb. Incidentally we see Robb embrace that role quickly and effectively because it’s something he always expected he would have to do.
Jon’s first instinct is always to put himself at risk over other people and particularly post-resurrection he’s become quite careless with his life.
He suggest one on one combat against Ramsay, scaring the living daylights out of Sansa. During the battle of the bastards, fans tend to focus a lot on Jon’s charge in trying to save Rickon. I don’t really take that into account as much because it seemed like a natural reaction of a man desperately trying to save his kid brother. However, during that same battle, he charges singlehandendly against an army not once but twice: Once after Rickon is killed and the second when Ramsay runs from the battlefield (once again terrifying Sansa - no wonder the poor girl tells him over and over again that he needs to be smarter).
And this trend continues in season 7 as well when he not only offers himself up for the wight hunt but also charges the zombie army on his own instead of getting on the freaking dragon.
That’s very much the mindset of a warrior ready to face off against impossible odds but it’s not something Jon is allowed to do anymore because:
Davos: You can’t lead a raid beyond the wall. You’re not in the Night’s Watch anymore. You’re King in the North!
Exactly, Davos! Exactly!
Jon can’t go around charging head first into impossible to win situations because he has a responsibility to the people he’s leading and because without him, the entire army/kingdom disintegrates.
And in a way, I think Jon knew that at some point. During the attack on the wall by Mance’s forces, Jon acts not only bravely but strategically and decisively. And it’s the result of his good decision making that Grenn ends up dying.
I think the guilt from that decision never left Jon which is why now he ends up preferring to put himself at risk than ask others to do it.
But, unfortunately for him, Jon Snow was never meant to be 1st ranger. He is meant to be king and a medieval king, while needing to be a warrior, also needs to be a commander and a strategist, one that at some point will have to send good men, loyal men to their deaths. And he needs to learn to live with that.
Which in essence is the real lesson that needs to be learned from book Ned’s commentary on the difference between a leader and the men he has under his command.
Thanks for the ask, nonnie!

In retrospect, Stephen's whole ass rant to 838 Mordo is unintentionally hilarious, because he sounds like he's bitching about his ex to a dude he just met. He's like the drunk guy who's at the bar, slightly tipsy and just trash talking his ex because his ex's doing better without him lmao and before that there's Xavier sounding like he's lowkey trying to set Stephen and Mordo up. "It's time to learn how to love again, go to bone town" (please read this in Sir Patrick Stewart's voice)
I absolutely read that in Sir Patrick Stewart's voice hehehhe. I love all the takes regarding Stephen's unhinged rant to this random stranger who may or may not be grieving the loss of a hubby. Ay. I think Stephen's rant was more directed to his own Mordo. Pretty much projecting their broken relationship on 838 Mordo, who's pretty ticked off with the comparison. I do love how 838 Mordo says that he can understand why 616 doesn't like Stephen. Cause it implies that 838 actually really did like his Stephen. Mordo wasn't trying to hurt Stephen until he managed to hit a sore nerve. And I hear people saying that Mordo wanted to kill Stephen and I'm like....then why didn't he just kill Stephen when he passed out from the tea?
Ay....such a mess lol. But I guess we'll make do with what we've been given. OR......just ignore it and create our own little worlds. I love the sweet little worlds dear nonnies. Keep em coming!

The former Nonnie May Stewart was born in Zanesville, Ohio. She was first married to George Worthington. They were divorced in 1898. In 1900, she married William Bateman Leeds, the Tin plate king, who was worth between 25,000,000 and 40,000,000. He died only eight years later, leaving the bulk of his fortune to his widow. The couple also had a young son, William.
Nancy Leeds and Prince Christopher were married in Vevey, Switzerland, on January 21, 1920. She was created HRH Princess Anastasia in her own right by King Constantine I.
A year after her own marriage, her only son, William, 19, married Princess Xenia of Russia, whose mother, Marie, was Prince Christopher's sister.

I dati filmografici.
