Here is a self-indulgent version but he's still pathetic reader just matches his freak. Also the original for anyone uninitiated, took it up from where it turned sour.

Javier hears your voice for the first time in over a decade ordering at a saloon and he cannot move. Do you like Mexico? Where have you been? You're here, if he's not mistaken by that fake name (though you're a fool to reuse them) and the face (though you've aged) and the way you walk (though it's more confident). You're here, and Javier is suddenly very upset with himself because, even though he knows in his heart that none of it ever was about Dutch, he can't find the word traitor in his mouth.

It's been so long, you can't find it either. There's still hurt in you and maybe it has soured you just enough that you find yourself as weak to it as Javier. He looks every day of his age and then many more, and it pulls at something in you. You had hoped to grow old together. Here he is, and he has grown old without you.

Javier's still hopeless first and a romantic second. Being near you lets loose a decade of swallowed desperation that makes the right thing to do — turning on his heel, leaving — once again very difficult. He was given a second chance at life when Dutch found him those years ago, and here he is given a second chance at love. He'd be a fool not to take it.

So once again, he does not do the sensible thing. Instead, he buys you a shot and when you say his real name, he doesn't lie. You put your hand on your gun belt apprehensively, assuming he would want you dead, but that fear dwindles when he plucks your wrist away without so much as looking down. Javier still knows you like the back of his hand.

He hasn't changed, but this second chance might do it. He's different now, but there's too much familiarity in its ugliness. Javier used to be Javier, not just the things that he was made of. You have to admit that it softens you to see him broken and lost. You hadn't realized how lost you were yourself.

Still, you're both older, more hardened now. Javier curses himself for leaving when you part at the end of the night, so he doesn't let go when you run into each other the next week a town over. It proves to him that things are meant to be. It begins with keeping tabs on you — he's got the connections, now, plays the risky game of telling people he's concerned about your intentions — and ends with him trying and failing to convince you to work for the government alongside him.

You accuse of him of betraying his morals, and he agrees. Javier's working hard to keep some cognitive dissonance up, but at the end of the day, he goes where he has the best chance of survival. Eventually, his own desires will go numb enough to be at peace with it. You flare them up again. Javier wants like he hasn't wanted in years, and— well, he had never truly felt at home anywhere but with you. He still feels homesick. Maybe he can forget himself, for a while, if he goes where the wind takes you.

I saw fanart where Lyla and Gabriela are twins and hear me out: Miguel going into dad mode but also anxiety mode because he finds out you're having twins and ahhh he doesn't know how to handle this. What if he doesn't pay enough attention to both of them? How is he going to take care of both of them and you and do Spider-Man duty? But also he's hyped because TWO babies! Two! My Most Hated Ship

Do I hate any ships with Madoka in them??? I'm struggling to think of one. However I will say I'm very dubious about Madoka ships where Homura is not included.

This, again, is not to say it can't be done, and done well.

But I never see it done well. It's always people who are reducing Homura to a 1-note stalker villain, or a 1-note Straight Friend. You can't be doing that!!!!

though i have to say, even me - i am a victim of nanami because i wrote the new chapter and i made some mistakes because i was so incensed with anger because he sucks lmaoooo

hm......when i write, it sort of depends on what approach i take it with because in some ways it depends on how i feel and how i am thinking at the time. it is who i am at the time. its very personal, its very raw and emotional. i really take everything that i am in what i write. plot or writing.

so for example with wildflower, it was me reflecting about a conversation i had with my own mother about how her life has gone. because she made choices that led her to being my mother and being someone's wife and not being the nurse she wanted to be.

and i began to reflect a lot about how i've heard and watched other women not be in that sort of space where they could be someone that they wanted to be.

and so that inspired me a lot with that as much as this movie called the happy housewife, which is a dutch film about this mother having a hard time adjusting to motherhood and as well as the lyrics of billie eilish's wildflower in itself, because it is deemed to be romantic. but i ended up thinking about a woman who's reflecting about herself in a third person pov about her role in people's lives.

so being immersed in a lot of things help me build the plot. you connect with people, you read, you enjoy films, you enjoy music. its a plethora of things that allow me to think the plots i think and i write them down on paper in jumbled up words and then i end up choosing what works and doesnt.

sometimes it takes a while, which is why i take breaks because i work on it so much that i get burnt out. as much as i do with my schooling. so it sort of a constant battle with this.

though sometimes i just have no plan. i just have a concept of what the plot could be and i just i write it out in trial and error. though this burst of energy is the worst because i end up suffering on the spot what happens and what doesn't.

with regards to writing, i write wherever i am. that is the escape i have with everything that goes on. i always have my phone, my laptop on me. sometimes in law lectures if we get breaks, i use that break to write some ideas i had a while ago while in the park.

or like if i have ideas somewhere else and i dont have my laptop on me, i write on my phone in the bus or while im walking or when im just trying to just chill out. so its a constant writing. sometimes i can formulate a story within an hour or two. sometimes its a more than that. its a whole thing.

i'm gonna use wildflower again as an example. i wrote wildflower in one sitting session. i don't like it when i leave something when it gets interesting and this was one of those moments i couldn't ignore that. it was a day off from uni, so i wrote wildflower in like the whole day, the breaks to eat and to pee and shower aren't involved. all the while wildflower by billie eilish was playing multiple times in loop because its the words that inspired it.

i think after this i had to lay down for an hour or so because my ass was burning and then i took walks around the house trying to go and not have cramps because i ended up doing it for too long. my eyes too, i had to close them for a while.

in some ways, this sort of craze in the writing is both a curse and a blessing. because i want to get it done but my body and my mind can only do so much most of the time. so there are some days i have no idea at all what to write or how to write or what comes next.

the biggest advice is to know your limits and to know what you can and cannot do and most of all pace yourself as much as you can be authentic and genuine in what you write. that is the biggest strength of my writing as much as it is the biggest grievance. still, i don't think i'll trade it for the world.

i know this has gotten long and maybe its not the best of advices and perhaps its just a good view of why writing is almost like a sport. but this is what i do. i've explained it on another ask. but i hope even though its quite a thing, it still does help you in some way!!!

The leaks and spoilers for S6 have got me Big Mad. S6 is officially dead to me, I thought it was going to be bad, but this is WORSE. Just awful. Fuck this show.

Nonnie, look on the bright side. It'll be over and you won't have to engage with anything these writers write ever again. Whatever bullshit they want to pass off as badass and canon, however much they abuse any of the characters, you can ignore its existence. It's simply fanfic that doesn't appeal.

Will I have a hard time resisting any of Ralph's future turns as Daniel? Maybe! But Ralph has been reported to be fine with whatever those dudebros write for the character. He has also said to have pushed back, but I used to think Ralph's involvement was a guarantee they'd treat the character with respect and in my view, it isn't, or not anymore. Especially not since the Miyagi AI fiasco.

Pure depiction does not a story make. Slight tangent to make that point: one of my first character loves was Donald Duck, but, as I didn't know then, my country has its own very specific way and tradition of writing that character. There's some Disney oversight but the Dutch writers have created a very Dutch Donald. So one time on vacation I picked up a German language Donald Duck comic, and it was - off. That wasn't my Donald, even though he looked like him. So I put it aside. And if Ralph chooses to play Daniel again, it may not be my Daniel - how I enjoy watching him. Again, my Daniel tried to end Terry Silver over suggesting his kids would don CK gis, so some of these leaks have made me question my sanity, or theirs. Is my Daniel the only valid interpretation? Of course not. But even Ralph cannot make me enjoy watching Daniel if they write him doing things Ralph cannot sell the Daniel LaRusso we met in The Karate Kid doing. That boy would not rage break his son's iPad while yelling at him to be Quiet!!! He would not give up on Robby. He, to his detriment, never goes behind people's backs, and when he tries, he's insanely bad at it. If he confronts people he is always right in people's face. He wouldn't go back to the Sekai Taikai! "Karate fought for trophy, karate no mean nothing" - and then a kid DIES and Daniel is still like "This is fine!"??? If he liked tournaments so much he was willing to disregard Miyagi's feelings over them so completely he would have competed sooner. (Yeah but Miyagi was - no he was not that contradicts the first film in several ways and it doesn't fit with the timeline. It is a bullshit retcon so they can stage a spectacle).

So when Germany didn't write my Donald, I stopped engaging with that Donald and read something else until there were new stories with my Donald to be had. This does not mean that other Donalds are not allowed to exist and anyone is bad for writing or liking that Donald, but I have happily ignored him since. I know where to find my Daniel, too- in the films and in snippets of CK, mainly throughout S2 parts of S3 and in his interactions with Terry. I have high hopes for the films but if that is, again, not my Daniel I am completely free to ignore that iteration of him and go back to minding my own business, Ralph or no Ralph. Anything John, Josh and Hayden touch I am dismissing on sight. Am I right about that? Maybe not, but who cares? There are many people in this world who have had rich, fulfilling lives without interacting in any way with Daniel LaRusso, though I still think that I'd recommend The Karate Kid to anyone alive. And no one can touch that if I don't let them, not Ralph, not Hayden, not a hundred AI Miyagis.

Just as I can come back to my Donald, (while knowing full well that is a very specific interpretation that appeals to me and likely not others) I can come back to my Daniel.

I’ve been going back and forth for forever trying to decide if I was going to buy them because I AM trying to save some money, but I went to the mall to buy a very specific pair of shoes and they were sold out, so I said screw it, I’m here.

I’m so glad I got them though! I’m still planning on getting the regular hardbacks later on, but I knew I HAD to have the pretty boxset.

The hardcover is slightly taller, but I imagine the paperback would be roughly the same size. I’m a hardback girly though, I know that’s a controversial thing to be, but I just like hardback better 🤷🏻‍♀️

According to Neil Sean's youtube video "MEGHAN - LIES WILL OUT & THERE IS NO ESCAPE ..LATEST NEWS" (from Dec 17th, 2023)— allegedly, they're making a documentary of the publishing fiasco. It was heartbreaking to see how devastated these poor professional Dutch translators were in trying to defend their livelihood during this PR frenzy. I hope the Dutch documentary nails Scobie/Meghan/Harry to the wall for this.

Could you write Hosea x gender neutral reader headcanons about different cons they run together/how they are when they do cons together? One of my favorite cutscenes is when Hosea and Arthur go to the Rhodes saloon to give away the moonshine. His planning and the backstory he comes up with is just so ridiculous and I love it. (I love him…)

Hosea has a backlog of personalities for cons, though he doesn't ever say that outright. Every now and again, he'll spin some new yarn for one or two when life is slow around camp. Eric Anyman wouldn't be caught dead robbing a store, far too shy, more of a long-con man; meanwhile, that's the ever-impulsive Henry Whoever's specialty. He may or may not pull a lot of his names and inspiration from crime novels (hence the pulp-iness), and mostly sticks to unique surnames to keep it all straight in his head.

Most of his part on planning is selling it. If you want to figure out all of the details, go right ahead. Actually... he might offload the finer things onto you either way. Even if there's bumps or gaps in the plan, he's confident the two of you can smooth it over with charisma. Perhaps a little too confident. And anyways, he finds it thrilling to be put on the spot— some of his best ideas have come to him that way.

He's a fan of more thoughtful schemes, nowadays. Snake oil, a fictitious silver mine or two or three. Hell, he got a real kick out of watching you sell a bogus patent the two of you roped in Arthur for. Not much of a technical artist, that one, but it was good enough to scrape two-hundred dollars out of one town. If they're man-power orientated, the takeaway has to be worth it. Damsel in distress and stagecoach robbing were fun games in his youth, and he'll play along still, but the taking was usually small.

A favorite of you two — mostly because it targets the wealthy businessmen — is selling fake stocks. Camping just out of town for a few days, going 'round to the shops with a few too many patrons or that leave bad tastes in your mouths, and making away with hundreds of dollars over the eighteen nineties version of a shitcoin is always extremely satisfying. Hosea tends to have a good instinct for when it's time to skip town, which may or may not have magically developed after the Kettering incident with Dutch. They're not quite as successful as they used to be given the stocks crash, but he insists if you keep playing them right, the two of you will make out big one time.

One of the most disastrous scams you ran was borne of utter boredom, holed up in the same camp for too long. It was foolish to worm your way into the political underground to begin with, but Hosea tends to get over-zealous when he's cooped up too long and you were simply excited for the bragging rights of conning other conmen. It didn't take very long to happen across someone who had already submitted their bribes for that feller to win the run for sheriff, and he didn't take too kindly to two people with out-of-state accents asking for a second. Needless to say, getting mobsters on your tails got camp to change the scenery!

Hi minnie, found out from one of the posts that you did your master's in the UK. I'm doing the same currently. How was your experience?? I love my uni studies and all but fuck the weather!!!. I'm in the northwest of England and I haven't seen the sun in ages. I experienced sun, rain, cloud, blue skies and fog all at once in the uk. It was a bizarre experience.

As an ex-international student in the uk can you suggest some tips and tricks to manage the crippling living expenses and earning some cash 🤌🏻 🤌🏻 🤌🏻

Hiii darling! That's right, I did! How exciting that you're doing it too right now! 💓 I hope you're having an amazing time, I definitely did 🥰

I don't know what your situation is exactly, but personally, but I spent quite a bit of time in the UK before I moved there to do my masters (I'm Dutch, but I'd already done a semester abroad and an internship in Wales and I had friends in London who I visited frequently, and I've just always been something of an anglophile/UK lover), so I was pretty familiar with the UK and London and its weather 🙈 Although the weather in Northern England is definitely a bit more gloomy than it is in the South, there's no doubt about that! I really love a lot of things about the UK, but the lack of sunshine definitely isn't one of those things 🙈 So I feel you on that one, even though the Netherlands honestly aren't that much better! You might be from a sunnier part of the world though, so in that case, you definitely have my sympathies 😬

As for earning a living and dealing with the high costs, I was lucky enough to get a government loan as well as a scholarship for my degree, so most of the costs for the 12 month duration of my masters (it was a full year one) were covered by those. Towards the end of my degree, though, I decided I wanted to stay in London, so then I looked for a job. A friend of mine was, at the time, working with a small company who were looking for someone to temporarily replace one of their employees and the job was right up my street, so she arranged an interview for me and fortunately, I got the job. It was only supposed to be for the last few months of my degree, but then the person I was covering for decided they weren't coming back after all, and I was hired permanently. So basically, I just got really lucky 😭🙈 I worked at that company full-time until I moved back to the Netherlands a few years later for personal reasons, so I'm afraid I never really had to look for other ways to earn some cash at the time!

However, a couple of things that helped me save money during my studies in the UK (but which I assume you're already doing too, as they're super obvious student things): I lived with other students for a while, which meant cheaper rent, I did most of my groceries at Lidl, Aldi and Tesco, I got a student Underground and Railway card and used every possible student discount on other things I could get, and I also knew exactly where the happy hours were at what time 😅

I'm so sorry I can't really offer any other advice in this regard, but maybe there are others reading this who might have tips for you?? If anyone does, please feel free to chip in and help nonnie out! 😊 In any case, I hope you're loving your masters and your time in the UK as much as I did, lovely!!! Hi Nonny! No genuine questions are dumb questions. And this certainly isn't one.

Putting this under a read more because I seem to have rambled a bit.

I'm assuming this is in response to this post where I mentioned I bought 2 Bibles at the thrift shop today.

For me, this is just a place where my love for languages and my faith intersect.

Quick note: I'm not a historian or a theologist. I just like languages. And Bibles.

Those 2 Bibles that I bought today are different Dutch translations of the Bible. You see, the original Bible texts were in Hebrew and Biblical Aramaic (the Old Testament) and in Koine Greek (the New Testament).

(The original language of the deuterocanonical books is debated, but seems to be a mixture of Koine Green, Semitic languages like Hebrew and Aramaic, and Latin, but I digress).

This is my current collection of Bibles. (Had to censor the bottom left one because my full legal name is engraved in the cover of that one.) From left to right, top to bottom, they are (with years of first print, and abbreviations):

All of these are different translations of the original texts, and I like comparing the versions. I grew up reading the first one, the NBV, and the church I currently attend uses both the NBV, NBV-21 and the BGT concurrently.

Even if you don't speak Dutch, you'll be able to tell that these 4 versions of Genesis 1, the first chapter of the first book of the Old Testament, are very different (left to right, top to bottom - NBG51, SV, NBV, BGT):

Whenever I'm reading the Bible for religious reasons, I'll usually stick to one version. But I do occasionally look up the passage I'm reading in the other versions, just to compare the translations.

Are there any translations I'd like to add to my collection? In Dutch, I'd like to add the Herziene Statenvertaling, the Willibrordvertaling, the Groot Nieuws Bijbel, Het Boek, the Naardense Bijbel, and the BasisBijbel. Along with that, there's a translation of the Torah by Huub Oosterhuis and Alex van Heusden that I'd love to own, because they've made an attempt to stick to the style and imagery of the Hebrew as much as possible.

As for English Bibles, well, I think I'll focus on the Dutch ones first. I was gifted the one English one I own when I lived in the US, when I was 7.

To the mental health struggling nonnie, I don't know if it'll help, but as a mental health struggling nonnie myself, hang in there. I try to do something outside of my norm.

Get 3 cups of flour, 2 tsp kosher salt, 2 tbsp yeast, 2-3 cups of warm water, and make some bread. You mix the dry, add the water. Let rise for 2 hours, bake at 450 °F for 30 mins in a Dutch oven (or a deep oven safe dish or pot with a lid), then 12 mins with the lid off.

You'll be okay. And now you'll have some delicious bread to enjoy. 🫂

Just saw your awnser :). That's so cool you did social work for a little while. Also your studies sound very interesting!

It's not a master, I can do that after I finished this study. It's a bachelor degree, I'm studying for. (I found it!). I'm also going to do a minor after my internship. I'm thinking to do the one for mental health care, but I know there's also one for forensic care and that sounds very interesting as well!
