No one asked but here are my takes on a few popular beignet places:
Cafe du Monde:
Too crowded, super noisy, filled with and surrounded by the worst kinds of tourists. Didn't even bother. I value my life and my time too much for that shit. 0/5
Cafe Beignet (Decatur):
Fantastic atmosphere. Decent beignets, but way too much sugar. They have live music in the afternoon and evening, so there was a guy doing instrumental acoustic covers of some 80s/90s/early 00s hits. (Much more pleasant than it probably sounds.) I don't think the person who made my coffee actually understood what a latte is, but eh. 4/5
Loretta's (French Market stall):
Right off the bat, the fact that they don't have prices listed is a little off-putting, and I don't love the location. I also don't think putting beignets in a bag is ever a good idea (it makes eating them an even bigger mess and inconvenience than usual). But the product itself was pretty good, and the wait time wasn't bad at all, considering there was just one woman making every order. 3.5/5
Morning Call:
If you only go to one place for beignets in New Orleans, make it this one. They're open 24/7, and when I went in at 1:00am it was a really cozy little liminal space with a sort of vintage diner vibe. It's cash only, but they have an ATM. Most importantly, though, the beignets come out so hot the server will give you a warning about the temperature, and they're served plain so you get to control the amount of sugar you put on them. As someone who really loves cake doughnuts, I could just eat a dozen of these if I had the chance. They're so good it's a little upsetting. 5/5

When you think of New Orleans, one of the first things that jumps to mind is the food. And when you think of New Orleans food, one of the first things that jumps to mind are beignets. And when you think of beignets, one of the first things that you think of is Cafe Du Monde. While this legendary coffee shop has several locations throughout New Orleans, what most people think of is the original coffee stand at the French Market - and until recently, that location was open 24 hours a day.
Now, anytime you have a place open that late, interesting things are going to happen. Late night patrons have reported seeing all manner of strange things come crawling out of the river. But the most common story associated with late night at the Cafe Du Monde starts normally enough - a friendly waiter comes and takes your order, then heads to the back of the house. And never returns. After waiting for some time, you get up to find him, but he’s nowhere to be found. Finally, you ask another staff member, only to find out that nobody that fits the description of your waiter works there. It seems that you’ve given your order to a Cafe Du Monde waiter who is still on duty decades after he died, and that you really have been “ghosted.”
And now I want a beignet, darn it!

I saw this apron and thought of Alastor! 🥰
(I don’t know how to draw food, this was my first time, so I’m sorry if it looks bad. Also, again, I suck at drawing hands.)
This was fun to make! And finally I managed to have motivation to sketch, do the line art, and color it in! 😁

“Alastor won’t like coffee”
BABES- NO!!
Man is from Louisiana! (Like me!!) Café au laits and beignets for breakfast every day on his way to the radio station those early mornings!
The sun is barely peaking, the drunks and partygoers from Bourbon Street & the French Quarter rising with the morning sun, businessmen that are trying to look tougher and more awake than they are, school going kids that just got off their morning paper route, their beloved Radio Broadcaster, all equals, all piling over to City Park, all trying to fit under the awning of Cafe du Monde to avoid the early drizzle, all in need of a coffee and a sweet breakfast.
