This may be a controversial opinion but we need to normalize and have more “bitchy” girls in media who aren’t complete assholes but labeled bitchy by everyone else because they have a rougher attitude than most people. We need more girls who don’t have to become nice by the end of the story to get their happy ending.

I don’t owe anyone niceness. I owe them respect and decency. Those things do not equate to niceness. Maybe it’s the depression talking but I cannot be upbeat and happy all the time. I shouldn’t be expected to greet everyone with a hello and a smile at my workplace. But especially in retail if you so much as say hi with a straight face you’ve got attitude or are being mean. Take it from a childhood people pleaser, I lost my sense of self trying to be nice and perfect for everyone. Doing so was one of the reasons I got so burnt out at my last job. We don’t owe you niceness.

Paris Geller in Gilmore Girls (I haven’t finished this show and while Paris is irrevocably horrible to people in some instances she still isn’t made to be nice to everyone and people accept her even when she’s not happy).

Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family/Wednesday

Literally why does Grant put so much effort into staying with Kat? With the way he constantly gaslights her into believing she’s crazy and with how he literally drugs her whenever he needs her to forget she’s chosen not to be with him, it can’t be love.

Their relationship takes away from the show and his lack of respect for her autonomy makes Grant a worse character every time they show him interacting with her. I want to believe this is all for some commentary about how protocol 2 can lead to creepy obsession with the host’s loved ones, but no one ever calls him out on it

I wonder if hallmark is using the way home as a sort of "test subject" in giving the show the freedom to do whatever. And by that I mean I need them to make more shows like this. I see a future where the hallmark channel becomes the cw reincarnated and it is glorious.

Relistening to episode 4 and hearing Carpenter talking about being a lure for the faith made me think of a Bad End. In the finale, she offers herself to the Trawler Man, and it seems likely that he accepted. She reached the place promised to her by the Cairn Maiden, but death didn't claim her, because she belongs to someone else. Death and change and running water... I can see Carpenter getting forced into the shape of an angel or a saint, a ferryman caught in the river's currents but unable to join her brother's bones, forced to feed the people she'd rather save to her hungry god. The Trawler Man ambiguously used her shape to lead Faulkner to his death... this is why you don't sell the rights to your image.

I hope this is not what happens to her, I hope she gets to rest somehow, but I can't deny it would have a certain tragic resonance.

ughhhh i'm about to head to the airport for the first of THREE flights to get back home. i was on a later flight originally but i switched to an earlier one bc i was worried my layover in beijing would be too tight but now i have an extra long layover bc there just weren't any better options. this means from the point i leave my hotel to when i, probably, arrive back at my apartment i will have been traveling...~36ish hours? kill me!!

Ted looking out at ... probably New Mexico. He says it's not green enough for his taste, and he's glad to be up here.

Ted helping me improvise a London Fog out of a Peets vanilla steamer so the caffeine could help me push through a seven-hour travel day that turned into twelve hours. Luckily we had Earl Grey and a strainer in the carry-on!

Ted saved me from mayonnaise on my sandwich at La Madeleine (I'm allergic), so he got Sacher torte to celebrate my not puking in an airport terminal.

so nikko mentioned the rodeo circuit one (1) time and i've been thinking about that every so often now .   and i'm in a mind to make it into arthur's modern verse because i can do that .   outlaws aren't around anymore these days and like  ...   hitman / mafia is so oversaturated imo when it comes to muses who are criminals , and arthur isn't the ranching type .   not all rodeo cowboys are ranchers and not all ranchers are rodeo cowboys .   i'll simply put him into dangerous sports instead where he can sustain the same level of injury as he does in modern verse<3   i definitely think arthur has enough skill that he's competing professionally and has been for years , and ofc he'll gladly pay his $200 annuals for the chance to win hundreds of thousands at the prca .   for dutch , of course .
